We'll need an artifact. 00:02:39.72\00:02:41.89 Oh, okay. Could you get one for us? 00:02:41.92\00:02:43.26 What number? I think it's 44 X. 00:02:43.29\00:02:46.26 Oh, okay. Wow. 00:03:35.81\00:03:37.88 It's so cool. 00:03:37.91\00:03:39.25 Location brief, Utah. 00:03:39.28\00:03:42.85 Utah is a Western State 00:03:42.88\00:03:45.42 of the United States of America, 00:03:45.45\00:03:48.42 and home to some of the most incredible landscapes on earth. 00:03:48.46\00:03:53.96 There is an incredible diversity of places to see, 00:03:54.00\00:03:57.77 including Monument Valley, 00:03:57.80\00:04:00.64 a region with many sandstone buttes 00:04:00.67\00:04:03.84 rising from the desert floor. 00:04:03.87\00:04:06.64 There's also Goosenecks State Park, 00:04:06.68\00:04:10.11 a curvy winding canyon, 00:04:10.15\00:04:12.88 with the San Juan River 1000 feet below. 00:04:12.91\00:04:18.05 One of the several national parks in Utah 00:04:18.09\00:04:21.46 is Arches National Park, 00:04:21.49\00:04:24.16 where there are more than 2000 natural arches 00:04:24.19\00:04:27.96 carved out of the sandstone rock. 00:04:28.00\00:04:31.63 There's also Escalante National Monument 00:04:31.67\00:04:35.17 that includes beautiful areas of landscape 00:04:35.20\00:04:38.77 that seemed to have been perfectly carved into stone. 00:04:38.81\00:04:43.11 Not far away is Zion National Park, 00:04:43.14\00:04:47.18 a stunning 15 mile long canyon, 00:04:47.22\00:04:50.45 with canyon walls dropping over 2600 feet deep. 00:04:50.49\00:04:55.99 One of the most striking natural features 00:04:56.02\00:04:58.56 in many places in Utah are the slot canyons, 00:04:58.59\00:05:03.00 including one of the most famous slot canyons, 00:05:03.03\00:05:06.90 Antelope Canyon, 00:05:06.94\00:05:08.90 as well as a slot canyon in Zion National Park, 00:05:08.94\00:05:12.74 called The Narrows. 00:05:12.77\00:05:15.21 Another incredible national park nearby 00:05:15.24\00:05:18.55 is Bryce Canyon. 00:05:18.58\00:05:20.48 And even though the name says canyon, 00:05:20.52\00:05:23.42 the major feature is a giant natural amphitheater 00:05:23.45\00:05:28.39 filled with unique geological structures 00:05:28.42\00:05:32.33 called hoodoos formed by erosion. 00:05:32.36\00:05:36.36 Towards the center of Utah 00:05:36.40\00:05:38.67 is another incredibly unique state park 00:05:38.70\00:05:41.94 called Goblin Valley, 00:05:41.97\00:05:44.54 featuring thousands of strange looking 00:05:44.57\00:05:47.41 rock formations, also called hoodoos, 00:05:47.44\00:05:51.41 and also formed by erosion. 00:05:51.45\00:05:55.55 Farther north, around the Great Salt Lake 00:05:55.58\00:05:59.15 are huge, salt flats, a densely packed salt pan. 00:05:59.19\00:06:04.09 That's all that's left of an enormous dried up like. 00:06:04.13\00:06:09.86 It's easy to be amazed at how many incredibly 00:06:09.90\00:06:13.64 unique natural wonders are found in Utah. 00:06:13.67\00:06:18.64 This concludes this location brief. 00:06:18.67\00:06:22.61 Cool. Wow, that's awesome. 00:06:22.64\00:06:24.11 Yeah. 00:06:24.15\00:06:25.48 Utah really is a pretty cool place. 00:06:25.51\00:06:27.25 That seems likely. Yeah, it's very true. 00:06:27.28\00:06:28.62 A lot of amazing landscapes. You know what? 00:06:28.65\00:06:30.95 On this particular story, it happens to be 00:06:30.99\00:06:33.42 that our family and I were traveling 00:06:33.46\00:06:34.96 through the country. 00:06:34.99\00:06:36.32 Oh, okay. 00:06:36.36\00:06:37.69 We were on our way from Michigan to California 00:06:37.73\00:06:39.06 to visit my parents. 00:06:39.09\00:06:40.43 Wow. Oh, that's nice. 00:06:40.46\00:06:41.80 So we just kind of took the direct route 00:06:41.83\00:06:43.16 right down the middle, which is I 70, 00:06:43.20\00:06:44.53 which goes through Denver, 00:06:44.57\00:06:45.90 and through the Rocky Mountains, 00:06:45.93\00:06:47.27 and eventually into Utah. 00:06:47.30\00:06:48.64 That must have been beautiful. It was beautiful. 00:06:48.67\00:06:50.01 It's very beautiful place. 00:06:50.04\00:06:51.37 Now, when we got into Utah, we had a choice 00:06:51.41\00:06:54.08 because once you arrive at the end of Utah, 00:06:54.11\00:06:56.34 you have to kind of either go north or south 00:06:56.38\00:06:57.95 on another highway. 00:06:57.98\00:06:59.31 Okay. 00:06:59.35\00:07:00.68 But we decided this time that we're going to go 00:07:00.72\00:07:02.05 straight through on this little road. 00:07:02.08\00:07:03.75 And we got on this road, it was bumpy, 00:07:03.79\00:07:05.52 and there was nobody there. 00:07:05.55\00:07:07.26 And then we got off that road on to a dirt road. 00:07:07.29\00:07:09.92 And we traveled 20 miles into the mountains 00:07:09.96\00:07:12.79 on a dirt road. 00:07:12.83\00:07:14.33 That must have been very beautiful. 00:07:14.36\00:07:16.56 It's amazing but there was nobody there. 00:07:16.60\00:07:18.73 Oh, okay. 00:07:18.77\00:07:20.10 Wow, you guys had it all to yourself. 00:07:20.14\00:07:21.47 We had it all to ourselves but then also we arrived 00:07:21.50\00:07:23.51 to a very interesting place. 00:07:23.54\00:07:24.87 Where? 00:07:24.91\00:07:26.24 It was a place where you can dig for trilobites. 00:07:26.27\00:07:28.98 That's where you found that. That's where I got this. 00:07:29.01\00:07:30.35 Oh, that's cool. So they had this place. 00:07:30.38\00:07:32.61 It's called a quarry, 00:07:32.65\00:07:33.98 where they opened up a hole in the ground, 00:07:34.02\00:07:35.68 and they have a bunch of this shale 00:07:35.72\00:07:37.92 is this type of rock laying around 00:07:37.95\00:07:39.92 and what you have to do 00:07:39.95\00:07:41.29 is you pick up the shale pieces, 00:07:41.32\00:07:43.12 and they give you these tools 00:07:43.16\00:07:44.69 and you kind of break it in half. 00:07:44.73\00:07:46.36 Don't have one for yourself. Yeah. 00:07:46.39\00:07:47.86 And then you split open the shale 00:07:47.90\00:07:49.50 and that is how you find the trilobites. 00:07:49.53\00:07:51.53 Oh. That's awesome. 00:07:51.57\00:07:53.44 How long did it take to find that one? 00:07:53.47\00:07:54.87 Well, here's how what they do there. 00:07:54.90\00:07:56.24 So when we go in there, they charge us to be there. 00:07:56.27\00:07:59.54 But we decided that we're going to stay there 00:07:59.57\00:08:01.28 for two hours. 00:08:01.31\00:08:02.64 Okay. 00:08:02.68\00:08:04.01 And it was four of us that were going to be working. 00:08:04.05\00:08:05.38 So we each had our tools, and we each kind of found 00:08:05.41\00:08:07.68 a spot that we liked in the quarry 00:08:07.72\00:08:09.38 and we were just... 00:08:09.42\00:08:10.79 Oh, was it hard? 00:08:10.82\00:08:12.15 It wasn't too hard because the shale 00:08:12.19\00:08:13.52 actually splits pretty easily 00:08:13.56\00:08:14.89 when you hit it with the right little tool. 00:08:14.92\00:08:16.49 Really? 00:08:16.52\00:08:17.86 And we just opened it up and then we were hoping 00:08:17.89\00:08:19.23 that there would be a little trilobite there. 00:08:19.26\00:08:21.03 And needs them, you break a crack? 00:08:21.06\00:08:22.46 Yeah, they would all break a crack 00:08:22.50\00:08:24.00 and we'd see little trilobites and then we keep the trilobites 00:08:24.03\00:08:27.70 and then we put them in the special bucket. 00:08:27.74\00:08:29.54 You know how many we found in two hours? 00:08:29.57\00:08:31.87 How many? Let me guess, eight? 00:08:31.91\00:08:34.34 No, we found about 100. 00:08:34.38\00:08:36.34 A 100? I can't believe it. 00:08:36.38\00:08:38.25 Yeah, this is just one of them. 00:08:38.28\00:08:40.72 This is one of my favorite ones 00:08:40.75\00:08:42.08 because you can see it pretty good there. 00:08:42.12\00:08:43.62 Yeah, you can. 00:08:43.65\00:08:44.99 Now a lot of people would wonder 00:08:45.02\00:08:46.42 what happened to this poor little trilobite? 00:08:46.45\00:08:48.56 Yeah. 00:08:48.59\00:08:49.92 A trilobite is a fossil of a little creature 00:08:49.96\00:08:51.99 that is now extinct. 00:08:52.03\00:08:53.36 Is it a bug? It's a little marine creature. 00:08:53.40\00:08:56.10 So it lived at the bottom of the ocean 00:08:56.13\00:08:58.13 and for some reason, 00:08:58.17\00:09:00.57 they died because it got buried by water and mud. 00:09:00.60\00:09:03.97 That's sad. Of course, you know what? 00:09:04.01\00:09:05.34 I believe this happened during the flood 00:09:05.37\00:09:07.41 which is mentioned in Genesis. 00:09:07.44\00:09:08.78 That is a good explanation. 00:09:08.81\00:09:10.15 I mean, it does talk about the world being flooded, right? 00:09:10.18\00:09:12.01 Yes. Right. 00:09:12.05\00:09:13.38 The sad part is so many trilobites died 00:09:13.42\00:09:15.45 because even though 00:09:15.48\00:09:16.82 we were only there for two hours, 00:09:16.85\00:09:18.19 we found 100 of them. 00:09:18.22\00:09:19.72 The people that were there working told us, 00:09:19.75\00:09:21.79 there's got to be hundreds of thousands. 00:09:21.82\00:09:24.06 Oh, wow. That's a lot. 00:09:24.09\00:09:26.70 Yeah. Wow. 00:09:26.73\00:09:28.26 And I got to thinking to myself, 00:09:28.30\00:09:29.63 man, you know what? 00:09:29.66\00:09:31.00 That's so sad. 00:09:31.03\00:09:32.37 So many of these little trilobites died. 00:09:32.40\00:09:34.67 And so quickly, too. And so quickly, too. 00:09:34.70\00:09:36.57 And it's just like a giant graveyard of trilobites. 00:09:36.60\00:09:40.88 And I got reminded, you know. Yeah. 00:09:40.91\00:09:43.14 Death isn't part of God's original plan? 00:09:43.18\00:09:45.61 Yeah. It's not. 00:09:45.65\00:09:47.08 This was supposed to live forever. 00:09:47.12\00:09:48.45 Yeah, this was not God's original plan, so. 00:09:48.48\00:09:50.15 Satan and sin introduced it. 00:09:50.19\00:09:51.79 That's right. Yeah. 00:09:51.82\00:09:53.15 So you know what? 00:09:53.19\00:09:54.52 I have a Bible text 00:09:54.56\00:09:55.89 that I think would be great here. 00:09:55.92\00:09:57.26 Would you like me to look it up? 00:09:57.29\00:09:58.63 Please do, Sam. Sure. 00:09:58.66\00:10:00.00 Look up, Romans 6:23. 00:10:00.03\00:10:03.20 I think I remember that verse. 00:10:03.23\00:10:05.27 This will definitely give us a clue 00:10:05.30\00:10:06.63 of what is going on here. 00:10:06.67\00:10:08.34 Oh! 00:10:08.37\00:10:09.80 Go ahead and read it when you find it, 6:23. 00:10:09.84\00:10:11.71 Okay, "For the wages of sin is death. 00:10:11.74\00:10:14.68 But the gift of God is eternal life 00:10:14.71\00:10:16.85 in Christ Jesus, our Lord." 00:10:16.88\00:10:18.68 I remember that verse. 00:10:18.71\00:10:20.05 That is wonderful message. I remember that. 00:10:20.08\00:10:21.85 The interesting thing is that it kind of helps us understand 00:10:21.88\00:10:24.29 why we have death in the first place. 00:10:24.32\00:10:26.12 Yeah. It started because of sin. 00:10:26.15\00:10:29.12 Right. Yeah, sadly. 00:10:29.16\00:10:30.49 Now, you know what? 00:10:30.53\00:10:31.86 That verse really gives us a lot of clue. 00:10:31.89\00:10:34.03 It does. 00:10:34.06\00:10:35.40 I want to write it down right here. 00:10:35.43\00:10:36.77 That was, was it Romans? 00:10:36.80\00:10:38.37 Romans 6:23. 00:10:38.40\00:10:41.80 Yep. Wow. That is awesome. 00:10:41.84\00:10:43.47 Oh, I think I saw a video on your fossil deck 00:10:43.51\00:10:45.91 on the computer. 00:10:45.94\00:10:47.28 That's true, I bet there's one on there. 00:10:47.31\00:10:48.64 Let's go check it out. Oh, I have to see that. 00:10:48.68\00:10:51.11 Oh, I wish I would have went there myself. 00:10:51.15\00:10:53.21 Yeah, that would have been really cool. 00:10:53.25\00:10:55.12 Look at it. Wow. 00:10:55.15\00:10:56.89 Cool. Yeah. 00:10:56.92\00:10:58.85 Look at all the fossil we found. 00:10:58.89\00:11:00.22 That's awesome. 00:11:00.26\00:11:01.59 That's a lot of fossils. Wow. 00:11:01.62\00:11:03.46 And a ton of trilobites. Yes. 00:11:03.49\00:11:05.66 Death is a very, very sad thing. 00:11:05.69\00:11:07.93 No one likes it. 00:11:07.96\00:11:09.30 But we've kind of gotten used to the idea 00:11:09.33\00:11:10.97 and think it's normal. 00:11:11.00\00:11:12.53 For example, people eat meat or wear leather 00:11:12.57\00:11:14.50 without even thinking that something had to die. 00:11:14.54\00:11:17.94 Or on the road, sometimes we see an animal that died 00:11:17.97\00:11:20.04 because it was hit by a car. 00:11:20.08\00:11:22.54 Of course, in our own families, death happens too, 00:11:22.58\00:11:25.71 people die from a disease 00:11:25.75\00:11:27.08 or because they made poor decisions, 00:11:27.12\00:11:29.25 or because they got old. 00:11:29.28\00:11:31.19 We think that's all normal. 00:11:31.22\00:11:32.99 But that wasn't part of God's plan. 00:11:33.02\00:11:35.76 We were originally created by God to live forever. 00:11:35.79\00:11:39.59 But like the Bible says, when we sinned, 00:11:39.63\00:11:42.10 the consequence was that from now on, 00:11:42.13\00:11:44.83 all of God's perfect creations were corrupted and messed up. 00:11:44.87\00:11:49.54 That's why today all around us we see the death, 00:11:49.57\00:11:52.04 the accidents, and the diseases, 00:11:52.07\00:11:53.51 and the old age. 00:11:53.54\00:11:54.98 And we even see people killing other people. 00:11:55.01\00:11:57.85 None of this was how God had planned. 00:11:57.88\00:12:00.65 You probably heard the expression, 00:12:00.68\00:12:02.32 "If you play with fire, you're gonna get burned." 00:12:02.35\00:12:06.35 One thing is the consequence of the other, 00:12:06.39\00:12:09.19 you play with fire, 00:12:09.22\00:12:10.56 the consequence is getting burned. 00:12:10.59\00:12:12.69 It's the same with sin, because we sinned, 00:12:12.73\00:12:15.76 the consequence is death. 00:12:15.80\00:12:18.40 Just as our treasure text reminds us today. 00:12:18.43\00:12:21.64 What makes this verse awesome, though, 00:12:21.67\00:12:23.87 is the second part. 00:12:23.91\00:12:25.57 God has a special gift for us, eternal life. 00:12:25.61\00:12:29.54 That means He wants to recreate us 00:12:29.58\00:12:32.15 to be perfect again 00:12:32.18\00:12:34.02 and when we're perfect again, there will be no more death. 00:12:34.05\00:12:39.15 Now, in order for that to happen, though, 00:12:39.19\00:12:41.19 we have to accept that gift that He's trying to give us. 00:12:41.22\00:12:44.43 A free gift, eternal life. 00:12:44.46\00:12:47.30 I hope you will accept that gift today. 00:12:47.33\00:12:49.76 And the neat part is that it's all right there 00:12:49.80\00:12:52.87 in today's Bible treasure. 00:12:52.90\00:12:55.64 That's good. 00:12:55.67\00:12:57.01 Hey, we should end with a prayer. 00:12:57.04\00:12:58.37 Hey, crew, why don't you come on in? 00:12:58.41\00:12:59.74 Let's pray together. 00:12:59.77\00:13:01.11 Come on guys, come on. 00:13:01.14\00:13:02.48 Hey, who'd like to pray for us? Anybody. 00:13:02.51\00:13:05.08 I'll do it. Awesome. 00:13:05.11\00:13:06.72 Sam will pray. Let's bow our heads. 00:13:06.75\00:13:10.05 Dear Lord, thank You for all of the things 00:13:10.09\00:13:12.59 that You do for us. 00:13:12.62\00:13:13.99 Thank You that we'll be able to spend eternal life 00:13:14.02\00:13:16.52 in heaven with You. 00:13:16.56\00:13:17.89 And please help us to see 00:13:17.93\00:13:19.26 our loved ones in heaven with You. 00:13:19.29\00:13:21.46 In Your Son Jesus name, I do pray. 00:13:21.50\00:13:23.73 Amen.
