00:05 #S096_Today's Provision is Tomorrow's Proof (Part 1)
00:19 How many of us need to just 00:22 in this world where there are trade wars 00:24 and tariff wars and unstable economies, 00:28 we just need to be reminded that God provides. 00:30 Anybody need that assurance today? Amen. 00:33 And so we want to encourage us in the Lord today. 00:36 Exodus 16 and verse number one. 00:38 When you get there, just say, Pastor, I'm there. 00:41 If you still coming to say pastor room, come in. 00:43 We'll wait for you. 00:44 Exodus 16/2 Book of the Bible. 00:47 And we're looking together at verse number one. 00:48 We find the children of Israel 00:50 early in their sojourn from the land of Egypt, 00:54 and they come here to a particular crossroad 00:56 that I believe 00:57 has much, much to teach us about the faith journey. 01:01 Exodus 16 In verse one When you get there, just say Amen. 01:04 The Bible 01:05 says and they journeyed from them, 01:08 and all the congregation of the Children of Israel 01:10 came to the wilderness of sin, 01:13 which is between Islam and Sinai on the 15th day 01:16 of the second month after they departed from the land of Egypt. 01:21 Then the whole congregation of the children of Israel 01:23 did what they complained against Moses and Aaron 01:27 in the wilderness, and the children of Israel said to them, 01:32 Oh, that we had died by the hand of the Lord 01:35 in the land of Egypt when we sat by the pots of meat 01:39 and when we ate bread to the fool, 01:42 for you have brought us out 01:43 into this wilderness to kill this whole assembly. 01:47 With what? With hunger. 01:50 Then the Lord said to Moses, 01:52 Behold, I will raise bread from heaven for you, 01:56 and the people shall go out and what? 01:59 Gather a certain quota every day that I may test them. 02:04 That I mean what? 02:06 All right. 02:07 There is a method to what God is doing. 02:09 There is a testing that is taking place, 02:12 whether they will walk in my law or not, 02:15 and it shall be on the sixth day that they shall prepare 02:18 what they bring in, 02:19 and it shall be twice as much as they gather daily. 02:24 Then Moses and Aaron said to all the children of Israel, 02:28 at evening, you shall know that the Lord 02:30 has brought you 02:31 out of the land of Egypt, and in the morning you shall see 02:34 the glory of the Lord for you. 02:36 Here is your complaints against the Lord. 02:40 But what are we that you complain against us? 02:42 And also Moses said, This shall be seen 02:46 when the Lord gives you meat to eat in the evening 02:48 and in the morning. 02:49 Bread to the fool for the Lord. 02:51 Here's your complaints, which you speak against him. 02:55 And what are we? 02:56 Your complaints are 02:57 not against us, but they are against who then? 03:02 Moses spoke to Aaron. 03:04 Say to all the congregation of the children of Israel 03:06 come near before the Lord, for he has heard your complaints. 03:11 And now what came to pass is, oh, Aaron Spake spoke 03:14 to the people 03:15 of the Congregation of the Children of Israel, 03:17 that they look toward the wilderness and behold 03:20 the glory of the Lord appeared in the cloud. 03:24 And the Lord spoke to Moses saying, 03:27 I have heard the complaints of the children of Israel 03:30 speak to them, say at twilight you shall eat meat 03:34 and in the morning you shall be filled with bread 03:37 and you shall know that I am the Lord, your God. 03:40 And so it was that quail came up at evening 03:43 and covered the camp, 03:44 and in the morning the dew lay all around the camp. 03:48 And when the layer of dew lifted 03:51 there on the surface of the wilderness 03:54 was a small round substance, as fine as frost on the ground. 03:58 So when the children of Israel saw it, 04:00 they said to one another, What is it for? 04:04 They did not know what it is, what it was. 04:06 And Moses said to them, This is the bread 04:10 which the Lord has given you to eat. 04:12 This is the thing which the Lord commanded. 04:16 Let every man gathering, according to each one's, need 04:21 one homer per person, according to the number of persons. 04:25 Let every man take for those who are in his tent. 04:28 Then the children of Israel did so 04:31 and gathered some more and some less 04:34 so when they measured it by Olmert's. 04:38 He had gathered much, had nothing left over, 04:42 and he had gathered little who had no land. 04:45 And every man had gathered, according to each ones only. 04:49 And Moses said, Let no one leave what 04:53 any of it until morning. 04:56 Notwithstanding, they did not heed Moses. 04:59 We are hardheaded people. 05:00 Are we telling the truth? 05:03 But some of them left part of it until morning and they buried 05:07 worms and stink and Moses was very angry with them. 05:14 But I just want to emphasize verse number 19. 05:15 And Moses said, Let no one leave any of it 05:21 until the morning for today's Saints. 05:24 I want to talk to you under the subject. 05:26 Today's provision is tomorrow is proof. 05:31 Today's provision is tomorrow's proof. 05:34 Let us look to the word together today, father. 05:38 Again, in this little while, would you please say much 05:42 in this world that is filled with such economic instability? 05:46 I'm praying that you would 05:47 provide a settling for the people of God. 05:51 So, Lord, I'm praying that in the hearing of the Word 05:52 that faith will be multiplied exponentially. 05:56 So, God, would you please hide me in the shadows of the cross 05:59 that Jesus alone might be seen, 06:02 that Christ alone would be heard? 06:04 And at the end of our time 06:05 together, let Jesus alone be praised. 06:08 Bless us. 06:08 To this end, we ask 06:10 in the mighty name of Jesus, who is the Christ? 06:13 Let those who believe say together, amen and amen. 06:17 You may be seated in the house of the Lord 06:20 again, talking to you under the subject. 06:22 Today's provision is tomorrow's 06:26 proof. 06:30 You know, saints, as we get into the word. 06:34 I want us to, in this service, convince 06:38 that the God we serve is faithful to provide 06:42 every need that his children will ever have. 06:48 And it is critical, saints, that we develop some convictions 06:52 about God's ability to be able to provide. 06:55 Because the truth is, our primary faith tension 07:00 revolves around how we're going to be able 07:02 to make it from one day to the next. 07:06 The truth is that tension about provision 07:10 touches the newest believer in the church, 07:13 even to those who are the most seasoned among us. 07:17 The fact is that some of us can't even pray with focus 07:22 because we're worried about how we're going to make it. 07:25 Some of us don't give fundamentally to church 07:29 because we don't believe 07:30 that God is able to make up the difference. 07:34 And some of us can't even enjoy what God has provided today 07:39 because our minds have run ahead and attached itself 07:42 to concerns about tomorrow. 07:45 And that's why Romans 15 four says that everything 07:48 that was written was written to teach us 07:52 so that through endurance taught in the Scriptures, 07:55 we might find encouragement and hope. 07:59 And so understand, friends, that everything that happened to 08:02 Abraham, Isaac, Moses 08:05 and David was happening to teach us 08:08 how we ought to respond when we face similar situations. 08:14 In other words, friends, those things happen to them, 08:17 but they actually happen for us. 08:21 And that's why it is critical that we change the way 08:24 that we read the scriptures, 08:26 because some of us are trying to figure out in real time 08:31 whether or not God can be trusted. 08:34 And it is an apparent approach to faith because it suggests 08:38 that the faith experience begins with you. 08:42 But we, friends, are to learn from the experiences 08:45 of those that have actually gone before us. 08:48 And how many of us understand that the Bible is not 08:51 about great people that do great things for God? 08:56 The Bible is about great God that does great things, 08:59 even for people who don't deserve it. 09:03 And the truth is that when you study the scriptures, 09:06 you will find out that we serve a God that is faithful. 09:10 It is what the Bible says. 09:11 Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God 09:17 so that your faith 09:18 won't be steady by the things you experience. 09:22 Your faith is going to be steadied 09:23 by the things that you study and understand that our faith 09:28 is ultimately going to be built up in the world. 09:31 Because the truth is, 09:32 friends, that the Scriptures are God's resumé. 09:36 The Scriptures are God's work history. 09:39 The Scriptures teach us 09:40 how faithful God is from one generation to the next. 09:45 And I want to say to somebody today 09:47 that you ought to spend 09:48 less time looking at the stock market. 09:49 You ought to spend less time looking up the jobs report. 09:54 You ought to spend less time looking at the nest deck 09:57 and spend more time looking at his resume. 10:00 In fact, friends, when you look at Ezekiel 12, 10:02 in verse 25, God says, if I say it, it's going to happen 10:08 and it's going to be performed without delay. 10:11 I love Jeremiah 32 and verse 27, where God says, 10:15 I am the God of all flesh. 10:18 And he asked the question, Is there anything too hard 10:20 for me? 10:22 I love what he says in Isaiah 55 when he says that his word 10:26 won't return to him, boy, but it'll accomplish what he pleases 10:31 and prosper in the thing that he sends it to do. 10:34 I love the promise of Joel to 25 10:36 that says that 10:37 the Lord will restore the years that the locusts have taken 10:42 and he'll restore what the canker worm has eaten. 10:45 Philippians 419 says that My God shall supply 10:50 all your needs according to His riches and glory. 10:54 I love how Joan says that the Lord gives 10:56 and the Lord takes away, but blessed be the name of the Lord. 11:02 I love what David says as some 37, he says. 11:04 I've been young and now I'm old and I've never seen 11:09 the righteous forsaken and is see begging after bread. 11:13 And in Matthew seven 11:14 and seven, he says, asked and it shall be given seek, 11:18 and it shall be found not, and it shall be opened unto 11:22 you and the word to somebody who is anxious. 11:26 You don't need to spend your days 11:27 looking at the Wall Street Journal. 11:30 You don't need to spend your days locked on CNN. 11:33 You ain't got to look up to the White House. 11:35 You've got to learn 11:36 to look to the hills from whence cometh your help 11:41 and realize that your help comes from the Lord. 11:44 You are with me today. 11:45 Saints, and so go with me back to the Word, if you don't mind. 11:49 To Exodus Chapter 16. 11:51 And I want us to look together at verses two and three 11:54 as we look in the world today. 11:55 Exodus Chapter 16, verses two and three. 11:58 When you get there, let me hear you say Amen. 12:00 The Bible says the whole congregation 12:04 of the children of Israel complained against Moses 12:05 and Aaron in the wilderness, and the children of Israel 12:10 had the gall to say to them, Now 12:12 that's not in there. 12:15 Oh, that we had died 12:17 by the hand of the Lord in the land of Egypt 12:20 when we sat by the pots of meat 12:23 and when we ate 12:24 bread to the fore, 12:25 for you have brought us out into this wilderness 12:29 to kill the whole assembly with hunger. 12:32 Now, today, friends, as we spin this message, 12:34 talking about provision, 12:36 there are four basic principles I want to espouse. 12:40 The first thing this teaches us is never let future 12:43 concern words. 12:45 Take away your joy about today's provision. 12:48 No, no, no. Let me say it again. 12:50 Never let future concerns 12:54 rob you of the joy of today's portion or provision. 12:57 Now, now, as you look at this story, 13:01 you've got to make sure you read it the right way 13:04 because if you don't, you will assume 13:07 that their complaints were justified. 13:10 In fact, Malcolm, when I used to read this, 13:13 I thought their complaint was a response 13:16 to a current hunger or a deficit. 13:20 But you've got to read it in 13:21 context to get the right conclusion. 13:24 So understand, at this point, they are about 30 days removed 13:29 from being set free from the bondage that took place 13:32 in the land of Egypt. 13:34 And understand that when they left Egypt 13:37 30 days ago, Moses instructed them 13:41 to take about 40 days worth of supply. 13:45 And to understand what is heightening 13:48 the anxiety is that there is a change of scenery. 13:53 The Bible says in verse one that they leave the land of Elam 13:57 and they move into the wilderness of sin. 14:00 And the scripture says that in Elam 14:03 that there were 12 wells where they could draw water 14:07 and there were 70 palm trees to supplement their daily needs. 14:11 So that in. 14:12 Elam the vegetation was abundant, 14:16 the water was plenty, and the climate was comfortable. 14:20 But now, as they transition into the wilderness, 14:23 it is a change of scenery that is causing them 14:27 some concern 14:28 because in the wilderness, the vegetation is sparse. 14:34 The mirages are many and the water sources are scarce. 14:39 And understand, friends, that this combination of a change 14:43 in scenery, along with a shrinking supply of food, 14:49 has caused them to run to the worst case scenario. 14:53 In other words, friends, I thought that at this moment 14:56 they were responding to a lack of food. 15:00 I thought that their bellies were growling 15:02 and lack was already taking place. 15:05 You would assume that babies 15:06 are already languishing and being buried in the sand. 15:11 But remember, now there are about 30 days outside of Egypt. 15:15 But God sent them with 40 days of supply. 15:19 And so understand that they are now out of food. 15:22 They're just running low on food. 15:25 Are you all still with me? 15:26 The church. In fact, I want you to see this. 15:28 And patriarchs and prophets. 15:30 On page 292. 15:32 I want you to see again 15:33 somewhat of the absurdity of this particular moment. 15:38 Patriarchs and prophets to 92, I see literally says 15:40 they have not yet suffered from hunger. 15:44 Their present wants were supply, 15:48 but they feared for the future. 15:51 They could not understand how these vast multitudes 15:54 were to subsist. 15:55 And their travels through the wilderness. 15:57 And in their imaginations. 16:02 Are you with me? 16:03 Church. 16:04 They sold their children farm bashing 16:08 and the Lord permitted difficulties to surround them. 16:11 And so I, in their supply of food to be cut short, 16:14 that their hearts might turn to him 16:17 who had hitherto been there. 16:19 Deliver are your catching this church? 16:21 And see, you know what this teaches us? 16:23 It shows us why you've got to cast down 16:27 imaginations and every high thing that acknowledges 16:33 that exalts itself against a knowledge of God. 16:37 Because the truth is, saints, 16:38 that if you don't control your fears, if you don't manage 16:43 your phobias, 16:44 they will always push you into the worst case scenario. 16:49 I need you to get the absurdity of this moment there. 16:53 Anticipating starvation while eating food. 16:56 Got to fight. 16:59 They are literally complaining 17:01 about a lack of water while God has provided water. 17:06 They have already seen their kids dead 17:09 while their kids are running around with joy. 17:12 They are in a place where they're anticipating a deficit 17:16 when God has never let them lack a single thing. 17:20 And can I suggest they church that if you're going to survive 17:23 the journey of faith, 17:24 you cannot try to solve problems before they arrive? 17:29 Are you are hearing me today saints? 17:30 Because if you are not careful, anticipated agony will drive 17:35 you all the way out of the realm of your faith and the crazy. 17:39 Because some have to learn to trust God with the tomorrow. 17:43 Am I preaching to anybody today? 17:45 You see, to some this feels like irresponsibility. 17:49 To some this feels like indifference 17:52 because some of us are wound so tight 17:55 that we feel like to trust God is an act of irresponsibility. 18:00 We don't know anything but tension and stress. 18:04 But my goal today is to give somebody permission 18:08 to just rest safely in the hands of the Almighty God. 18:12 I need somebody to know 18:13 that as a child of God, I'm not irresponsible. 18:17 I'm not indifferent. 18:18 I just believe that God will supply all my needs 18:23 according to His riches and glory as he friends. 18:27 This is a call away from obsessing over and ruminating 18:33 over every possible scenario that might actually come. 18:37 The truth is that God has not given you any power 18:40 over tomorrow. 18:44 He has barely given 18:45 you any control over what might happen to you today. 18:49 Am I talking to anybody this afternoon? 18:51 And so what I'm saying today is that instead 18:55 of ruining yourself 18:59 about what might happen tomorrow, 19:01 maybe you ought to just wake up every now and then 19:05 and give God today praise instead of worrying about 19:09 six months from now and two weeks from now. 19:13 I need a people that will stand up and say, 19:15 This is the day that the Lord has made. 19:19 I'm going to rejoice and be glad in it. 19:22 Are there 19:23 some folk that can testify that from the rising of the sun 19:28 to the going down of this, saying 19:31 that the name of the Lord is to be prayed. 19:34 Instead of worrying about getting fired 19:36 six weeks from now. 19:37 Go ahead and praise him if you're employed today. 19:41 Don't worry about the lights getting cut off in a year. 19:45 Praise him if the lights are on today. 19:48 Don't worry about the price of AIDS in two weeks. 19:51 But praise them if they're friends is for today. 19:55 Don't worry about who may be against you in a year. 19:59 If God is for your praise and on today, 20:02 do I have seven folks that can give God I today? 20:04 Praise Lord, I thank you that today I'm. 20:09 Lord, I thank you that today I have my help. 20:13 Lord, I thank you that today I remember. 20:15 Right. 20:16 My Lord, I thank God that today my wife came home. 20:21 Lord, I thank you that today my needs have been met. 20:25 Sometimes you got to give God a two day kind of praise 20:30 and see friends of mine. 20:31 This is why I said today's provision is tomorrow's truth. 20:37 Because God has provided today. 20:40 Is there a witness today? 20:42 But how many of us know that at some point in the past 20:46 your today was your future? 20:51 No, no, let me say it again and some time in the past. 20:54 Today was in the future. 20:56 And sometime in the past, you were worried that God 20:59 was going to do it today. 21:01 But God had already ran ahead of you yesterday 21:05 and see to it today so that by the time 21:08 today got here, God had met all of your needs. 21:13 And if your needs are met, today is the proof that tomorrow 21:18 is already taking care of. 21:23 Today's provision is tomorrow's proof. 21:28 Y'all with me today. Thanks. 21:30 Second thing 21:31 that this story teaches 21:33 us, friends of mine, is we got to get to a place where 21:37 God is the only contingency you have in life. 21:43 Now, let me just say this, 21:44 because there are some parts of this story that will not align 21:48 with the conventional thinking of our time. 21:51 Now, now, one of the things I need to say 21:53 is that even as we study 21:54 this, God is not necessarily calling us to mimic 21:58 exactly what they did in the miracle man of the men. 22:01 A miracle. 22:02 But what we've been called to do is to draw out 22:05 whatever is the principle of faith. 22:07 Also with me today, faith. 22:08 Now, there was some very interesting rules 22:12 that God gave around the daily miracle of the man. 22:16 See, first of all, God says one person can only have one omer 22:20 per person. 22:21 And A-type, as I understand it. 22:23 And Omer was about 1/10 of an IFA 22:27 and then IFA is about three or so liters. 22:30 So 1/10 of that is about a third of a liter 22:35 was the portion you were to eat each and every day. 22:37 But then you also noticed 22:38 a very strange and powerful second instruction. 22:43 He literally says, through Moses to the people that no one 22:46 is to keep any for the next day, not not notice. 22:51 God says you can't put none in the freezer. 22:56 You can't keep any in storage. Why? 22:59 Because it was a declining storage 23:04 that has them in a tizzy in the first place. 23:07 Are you all still with me now? 23:08 Now understand, this instruction is very clear. 23:13 He says, Listen, y'all can't keep non for the next day. 23:16 You can't put Nona in Ziploc bags in your big purse. 23:20 He says you can't keep any in a can so that it won't go back. 23:25 In fact, God was so serious that even the left over 23:29 that stayed out. 23:30 Bill, by the time the sun came out, 23:34 for access was melted away. 23:37 And even the hard headed 23:39 Negroes that tried to keep some, 23:42 by the time they got to it, it began to rot and stink, 23:48 and it was filled with maggots and worms. 23:50 Are y'all hear me today? Things. 23:52 And see, there was a reason that God curse the leftovers. 23:55 The reason God curse the extra was 23:58 because they wanted to have a contingency outside of God. 24:03 Okay? 24:05 They. 24:05 They wanted to 24:06 keep a little stash in the event God didn't do what he said. 24:11 They wanted to have a low abundance 24:15 in the event that God did not come through. 24:18 Essentially what they do is they create an unbelief cushion 24:22 so they would not have to be vulnerable and depend upon God. 24:26 Now again, I get friends of mine how anxious 24:29 this would make them and how anxious it would make us. 24:34 Because when they go to bed every night, there 24:36 ain't no extra in the satchel, in the pantry 24:41 or in the snack closet. 24:43 Every day they wake up. 24:45 We'll see y'all at the brand new see y'all acting like this. 24:48 Cause you know how the story ends. 24:50 But imagine going to bed and there ain't a single crumb 24:53 in your kitchen. 24:55 And you've just got to trust that grocery guys 24:59 are going to be in the pantry when you wake up in the morning. 25:02 I hear what I'm saying. 25:03 And in fact, God 25:05 say is the only day you can get the extra is on the sixth day. 25:10 So you ain't got to go gather on the Sabbath day. 25:13 Thank you for joining us for the Breath Of Life. 25:16 Television Ministries Broadcast with Pastor Debleaire Snell 25:20 Now, we hope and 25:21 pray that you have been blessed by this powerful message. 25:25 Join us next week for part two of Today's 25:29 Provision is Tomorrow's Proof 25:32 You don't want to miss it. 25:34 If you keep letting losing happen to you, 25:37 if you keep 25:38 letting people do you in treatment any kind of way, 25:40 it's going to become a culture. 25:41 Winners 25:42 and losers.
