has much, much to teach
us about the faith journey.

is faithful to provide

children will ever have.

And it is critical, saints,
that we develop some convictions

about God's ability
to be able to provide.

Because the truth is,
our primary faith tension

revolves around how
we're going to be able

to make it from
one day to the next.

The truth is that
tension about provision

touches the newest
believer in the church,

even to those who are
the most seasoned among us.

The fact is that some of
us can't even pray with focus

because we're worried about
how we're going to make it.

Some of us don't give
fundamentally to church

because we don't believe
00:07:29.14\00:07:30.08
that God is able to
make up the difference.

And some of us can't even enjoy
what God has provided today

because our minds have
run ahead and attached itself

to concerns about tomorrow.

And that's why Romans 15
four says that everything

that was written
was written to teach us

so that through endurance
taught in the Scriptures,

we might find
encouragement and hope.

And so understand, friends,
that everything that happened to

Abraham, Isaac, Moses

and David was
happening to teach us

how we ought to respond
when we face similar situations.

In other words, friends,
those things happen to them,

but they actually happen for us.

And that's why it is
critical that we change the way

that we read the scriptures,

because some of us are trying
to figure out in real time

whether or not
God can be trusted.

And it is an apparent approach
to faith because it suggests

that the faith
experience begins with you.

But we, friends, are to
learn from the experiences

of those that have
actually gone before us.

And how many of us
understand that the Bible is not

about great people that
do great things for God?

The Bible is about great
God that does great things,

even for people
who don't deserve it.

And the truth is that
when you study the scriptures,

you will find out that we
serve a God that is faithful.

It is what the Bible says.

Faith cometh by hearing
and hearing by the Word of God

the things you experience.

principles I want to espouse.

The first thing this
teaches us is never let future

Never let future concerns

today's portion or provision.

Now, now, as you
look at this story,

you've got to make sure
you read it the right way

because if you
don't, you will assume

that their
complaints were justified.

complaint was a response

hunger or a deficit.

the right conclusion.

So understand, at this point,
they are about 30 days removed

from being set free from
the bondage that took place

in the land of Egypt.

when they left Egypt

30 days ago,
Moses instructed them

to take about 40
days worth of supply.

And to understand
what is heightening

the anxiety is that
there is a change of scenery.

The Bible says in verse one
that they leave the land of Elam

and they move into
the wilderness of sin.

And the
scripture says that in Elam

that there were 12 wells
where they could draw water
00:14:03.57\00:14:06.14
and there were 70 palm trees
to supplement their daily needs.

So that in.

Elam the
vegetation was abundant,
00:14:12.21\00:14:15.02
the water was plenty, and
the climate was comfortable.

But now, as they
transition into the wilderness,

it is a change of
scenery that is causing them

some concern

because in the wilderness,
the vegetation is sparse.

The mirages are many and
the water sources are scarce.

And understand, friends, that
this combination of a change

in scenery, along with a
shrinking supply of food,

has caused them to run
to the worst case scenario.

In other words, friends, I
thought that at this moment

they were
responding to a lack of food.

I thought that their
bellies were growling

and lack was
already taking place.

You would assume that babies

are already languishing
and being buried in the sand.

But remember, now there are
about 30 days outside of Egypt.

But God sent them
with 40 days of supply.

they are now out of food.

hearts might turn to him

who had hitherto been there.

what this teaches us?

you've got to cast down

They are literally complaining

about a lack of water
while God has provided water.

seen their kids dead

running around with joy.

They are in a place where
they're anticipating a deficit

them lack a single thing.

And can I suggest they church
that if you're going to survive

the journey of faith,
