one of the reasons Jesus

is because he says Your Heavenly
Father knows what you need

it means that God doesn't start

Lord, I need you to do it

this testimony. I'll share.

I remember a while back,
my wife and I had come upon

some difficult financial times.

We had some medical bills
that mounted to the heavens,
00:08:51.03\00:08:54.63
and we were about $700 short
of what we needed to make it
00:08:55.83\00:08:58.77
to the end of the month.

And I remember we had
calculated and plotted
00:09:00.47\00:09:03.27
and there was no
earthly solution available.

And we were on the verge
of calling home to our parents

for the first time
since we had been married

and before we got
on the phone to call

my wife said, Let's
spend another day in prayer.

And I remember that night we got
down on our knees and prayed.

Now, sir, I don't
know if you've ever

prayed one of those prayers

where you claim every
promise in the Word of God.

ask for a blessing.

And I opened up the envelope.

Snap, we regret to inform

envelope is a refund check
in the amount of 1100 dollars.

In other words, God took
it from me the year before,

allowed it to mature,
and Heaven's Storehouse

sent it before I
prayed so that by the time

I got to the
mailbox, it was already done.

And what I'm saying to somebody
tonight is you're waiting on

God to do it when the
truth is is already done.

You just need God to reveal it.

back to the word this evening.

Now, friends, I
want you to understand

that our text
tonight is actually filled

with more truth than I
can preach in one sermon.

But the first thing it
teaches is that desperate

action will pull you
out of a long distance

relationship with God.

Hmm. You see in our
story tonight, friends,

we find a noble man
whose son is sick with a fever

and understand that the
issue may not be the fever,
00:11:21.44\00:11:24.85
but the fever is a symptom
of a much more grave disease.
00:11:24.88\00:11:29.98
And the truth is that
the medicine of the day
00:11:30.95\00:11:33.15
has a lid and the experts
have given up the sun for day.

And this crisis moment appears
as the popularity of Jesus

is beginning to swell
and peak and understand.

This man hears
about the works of Jesus

and he plans a
confrontation with the master.
00:11:52.51\00:11:55.38
Now please note
that the noble man

comes to see Jesus in person,

and in fact, the Bible
identifies Him as a noble man,

so that we will know that
he is a man of some stature

in the society as a
noble man, they suggest that
00:12:11.19\00:12:15.26
maybe he was on Herod's cabin
cabinet in the royal court,

or maybe he was an
officer in the military.

But what the
Bible is letting us know

is that he is a
person of some stature.

Now, the reason that is
critical is that his movements

are not congruent with the
important people of the day.

You see, back then, a
nobleman for an introduction

would not come and
meet Jesus in person.

He would send an emissary
to summon Jesus to come to him.

A more polite, noble man
would send a representative

to meet with Jesus.

people get with your people

together, but understand

that he doesn't have
time for social pleasantries

knows that he cannot send

a representative, he

He's got to go and
tell Jesus this himself

There are other people
that can speak the words.

There are other folk
that can convey the message.

But he knows that
there are certain things

that Jesus needs to
hear from his own heart.

And the reason
that's important, Church,

is because I believe
in the power of prayer.

Do I have a witness tonight?

I believe you ought to

get all the folk praying
for you that you possibly can.

But there comes a point
in life where you can't send

a representative.

dependent on an ambassador.

there are four tensions in life

distance relationship with God.

tension over your money
and tension over your health

and tension over your house
and tension over your work.

In other words,
there are certain things

that require you
to go before the altar

because the truth is came.

Nobody talk to God
about your money like you can.

about your house like you can.

There's nobody can talk to God

And sometimes times
God allows those tensions

depending on third parties

that there is a reason

allows some desperate reaction,

because desperation makes makes
you get rid of the middle man.

will cause you to stop relying

Jesus on your behalf?

cross, you've got access

story teaches us, Beloved,

further than medicine.

is receiving medical treatment.

In fact, most
people believe that

because of his
father's great stature,

that he probably is
receiving the best treatment

that medicine can
provide for the day.

But understand that
medicine at this point has a lid

and the father is
in need of a solution.

The only Jesus Christ
is able to provide and see.

The thing that I want
to pass to say is because

one of the mistakes we
make as the people of God

is sometimes we pit miracles

against medicine.

like, I don't need medicine,

man's medicine.

I'm just going to trust in God.

And what we do is we
put medicine and surgery

and chemo in the
unbelief category

and we say, I'm just
going to rely on God.

is we see medicine

as secular and
only miracle as holy.

medicine against miracle

that happen in medicine

technology and surgeries.

friends, that I am grateful

that there is a COVID vaccine.
