Now I know you're going

to be in your feelings,
but look at the word says.

The Bible says, actually,
let's look at verse 18.

Little children, it
is the white last hour.

And as you have heard,
the Antichrist is coming

and even now Antichrist
have come by, which we know

it is the last hour.

Some of us are waiting
for the Antichrist to come.

But I need you
to know the spirit

of Antichrist has already
been at work in the world.

with some of us is

we see the last days like

We think it's about
our wilderness skills.

about our fire making.

We think it's
about our tent erecting.

But the last days is not
about how you keep yourself.

It's about how God keeps you
and protects you and provides

for you and fights for
you and shows up for you.

And he's coming again

to receive you unto himself.

So the Bible say it's
friends of mine that Jesus

stands up and
rebukes the wind and the sea.

there was great calm

and notice reads that
after he comes to sea,

he does not speak
calmly to the disciples,

but he rebukes them
for having no faith.

He is angry at the
manner in which they call.

But the second thing

I've come to believe is that
Jesus is not mad that they call.

He's mad that they wait
till the last minute to call.

Okay.

In other words, church.

He's not mad that they call.

He's trying to teach us.

Just don't always wait

till the last minute.

Now, friends,

you've got to see this
thing in your mind's eye.

The Bible says

that they take him as he works
00:05:14.38\00:05:16.91
and they
situate him in the boat.
00:05:17.71\00:05:19.75
And what it speaks to friends
00:05:20.45\00:05:21.62
is the assertiveness of
the disciples in this moment.
00:05:21.65\00:05:25.52
Essentially, friends,
what they do is they situate
00:05:26.62\00:05:29.89
Jesus in the stern of the boat
00:05:30.59\00:05:32.96
and they put
themselves in the captain's seat
00:05:33.93\00:05:36.36
and say, you got
to see this thing
00:05:37.20\00:05:38.70
because their pride is beginning
to swell, because they stand
00:05:38.73\00:05:43.24
next to Jesus as his
popularity begins to crest.
00:05:43.27\00:05:47.61
They are second and third in
command, and they're at a place
00:05:48.81\00:05:52.11
where the ego is getting
a little bit out of control.
00:05:53.25\00:05:55.28
And one of the things
that you will notice, even
00:05:56.35\00:05:58.45
by their own
admission after the miracle
00:05:58.49\00:06:01.69
that they didn't
really know who Jesus was.
00:06:02.66\00:06:05.86
In other words, they act in
all dumbfounded and surprised.
00:06:07.10\00:06:10.20
What manner of man is this
00:06:10.83\00:06:13.07
that even the winds
and the waves obey him?
00:06:14.07\00:06:17.17
In fact, the
servant of the Lord says up
00:06:18.04\00:06:19.94
to a point that they
don't treat Jesus like a Lord.
00:06:20.98\00:06:23.85
They treat him like a peer.
00:06:24.51\00:06:27.65
In other words, you realize
that Jesus was not some older
00:06:28.78\00:06:31.52
sage gentleman
that required respect.
00:06:31.55\00:06:34.59
He was actually about the
same age as the disciples,

as he was there in
his early thirties.
00:06:39.43\00:06:41.23
And understand
00:06:41.66\00:06:42.76
that Jesus did not come
from the great part of town.
00:06:42.80\00:06:46.37
But He came from
the ghetto of Nazareth
00:06:47.30\00:06:49.34
when nothing good
came out of Nazareth.
00:06:50.27\00:06:52.24
And understand that Isaiah
53 says that there was no form
00:06:53.48\00:06:56.98
nor completeness, no beauty,
that we should desire him.
00:06:58.15\00:07:00.98
So there is no earthly display
00:07:01.68\00:07:03.89
that would point to who
the Messiah actually was.

So that if Jesus
walked in here in human form,

He would not stand out.
00:07:11.99\00:07:13.19
We would not be impressed.
00:07:13.23\00:07:14.86
He would look just like
another dude from the hood.

And so you

got to see this thing as
they get themselves in the boat.

They don't ask Jesus,
which way should we go?

They don't ask Him,
which way should we take?

Because in their minds,
Jesus is just a carpenter.

But most of us
are fishers by trade,
00:07:36.85\00:07:39.35
so he knows what
to do on the land.
00:07:40.19\00:07:42.79
But he can't tell
us what to do out here.
00:07:43.79\00:07:46.16
He's the master
of the terra firma.
00:07:47.40\00:07:50.00
But out here on the
sea, this is our habitat.

And because they've got
some nautical expertize,

they plant Jesus in the stern
00:07:58.57\00:08:00.94
and they sit in the captain seat
00:08:01.64\00:08:03.81
and understand
church that this squall
00:08:04.91\00:08:07.55
that comes upon them,
it winds up as a tent.
00:08:07.58\00:08:11.29
But like all storms, it
doesn't start out as a tent.
00:08:12.35\00:08:15.32
There is a build to it.
00:08:15.89\00:08:17.86
And understand this,
00:08:19.03\00:08:20.76
that when the
elements first start to shift,
00:08:20.80\00:08:24.20
they don't see no
need to wake up Jesus
00:08:25.03\00:08:27.20
because they've been through
weather like this before.

As the storm moves to a level to
00:08:31.44\00:08:34.38
guess what they
are able to navigate it
00:08:35.28\00:08:38.35
with their nautical
expertize and their expertize
00:08:38.38\00:08:42.28
actually informs their arrogance
because they're able to
00:08:43.42\00:08:46.02
handle it when it's at level two
00:08:46.05\00:08:48.16
and even when it is a level
four, they still don't wake up
00:08:49.39\00:08:53.33
Jesus because they know
how to manage this situation
00:08:53.36\00:08:57.87
better than the
Master or Jesus does.
00:08:58.73\00:09:01.20
And even when it's a level six,
00:09:01.90\00:09:03.81
because they have made
their way through some storms
00:09:04.87\00:09:07.41
without Jesus, I
can see Peter and Andrew
00:09:08.34\00:09:10.75
saying, Remember in 1988
when we had to control the stern
00:09:11.88\00:09:15.95
and you emptied
water from the back,
00:09:16.82\00:09:18.15
how we got through it
00:09:18.72\00:09:19.85
of our own accord and their
own sense of their experience
00:09:19.89\00:09:23.49
keeps them from
waking up. Jesus.
00:09:24.29\00:09:25.93
And even when
it's a level eight,
00:09:26.66\00:09:28.20
they try to maneuver
it and try to handle it.
00:09:28.23\00:09:31.00
But the problem is that by
the time it reaches a level ten,
00:09:32.17\00:09:36.30
things have already
spiraled way out of control.
00:09:37.37\00:09:40.21
And understand what
makes this storm great
00:09:41.18\00:09:43.21
is not just
00:09:43.61\00:09:44.75
the strength of the storm,
it's the endurance of the storm.

You see, if this storm had
00:09:49.88\00:09:51.25
just come and passed over,
they could have managed it.
00:09:51.29\00:09:55.19
But this storm does not pass.
00:09:55.89\00:09:57.43
It is as if it actually settles
00:09:58.13\00:10:00.40
exactly where
the boat is moving.
00:10:01.20\00:10:03.57
And understand that even though
00:10:04.27\00:10:05.83
they have survived
some things before,
00:10:06.74\00:10:08.14
they are in a storm
now, that their experience
00:10:09.10\00:10:11.91
cannot solve, that
their skills cannot handle,
00:10:12.87\00:10:15.98
that their qualifications are
not able to sustain their man.
00:10:17.25\00:10:20.15
And can I suggest
freeze that every now and then
00:10:21.15\00:10:24.12
we will come to a storm
that our self sufficiency
00:10:25.22\00:10:28.62
proves void to be able to handle
00:10:29.32\00:10:31.56
because, like the disciples,
00:10:32.63\00:10:34.30
we struggle with our own
sense of self sufficiency.
00:10:34.30\00:10:37.93
But am I preaching to
anybody that's lived long enough
00:10:39.10\00:10:41.54
to know that there's
going to come a storm?
00:10:42.50\00:10:44.67
That experience has not seen
that your reason cannot solve,
00:10:44.71\00:10:50.18
that your money cannot
bribe, that your charisma
00:10:51.25\00:10:54.15
cannot charm, natural
ability cannot handle.
00:10:55.15\00:10:57.89
Sometimes there's
going to come a storm
00:10:58.82\00:11:00.32
that's going to
knock you flat on your back
00:11:01.32\00:11:02.72
so that you can
look to the hills
00:11:03.53\00:11:05.03
from whence, come with your help
00:11:05.06\00:11:06.59
and realize that
our help comes from God.

Are you all here?

What I'm saying today, friends
and understand friends that day
00:11:13.23\00:11:16.54
are in a panic because now
they sense an impending doom.
00:11:17.74\00:11:20.91
There is more water
coming into the boat

than they're able
to get out of the boat
00:11:24.61\00:11:25.78
and understand that they didn't
wake up Jesus all that time.
00:11:25.81\00:11:29.52
But you got to see the
frenzy as panic grips them

so that as now they
cry out to Jesus and Full

Throat may be taking
him physically awake.

And now, after all this
time, they finally say, Master,

don't you care

that we perish?

And friends of mine, I
need you to understand that

Jesus rebukes them.

Church for their unbelief.

Now somebody is asking,
What's the evidence of unbelief?

You see, the proof of
unbelief is not doubt.

The proof of
unbelief itself, sufficiency.

The sign of unbelief is
not doubt, because what faith

is, is moving in obedience,
even when there is some doubt.

But the greatest sign of faith

unbelief is the belief

efforts to save themselves.

Seeing their labor in vain

This is our catch. This

trying to save themselves

Jesus was on board.

master the sea that they forgot

and she is crazy
because they don't consult him.

They don't ask him for guidance.

They don't wake him,
they don't bother him.

They only come to him once
it reaches a crisis situation.

that the only hope we have in

certain storms even
get to the next level

if we turned it over to
Jesus at the first level?

In other words,
if you had committed

the marriage to Jesus
when it was drizzling,

would the marriage ever
reach a typhoon situation?

Students If you
seek God's wisdom

when you first
struggling in the class, would

you need a miracle to
help you pass the class?

If you let God guide you at the
beginning of the relationship,

would you need a miracle to get
you out of the entangled met?

If we stopped God at
the beginning of the battle,

that we are losing the battle?

I got to rebuke the lie
that we too often tell on God,

because what we
say is that God waits

till the last minute to
come through the devil is a lie.

Is it that God wait till
the last minute to come through,

or do we wait till the
last minute to turn the
00:16:06.16\00:16:08.66
situation over to the Messiah

and see?

The problem is with some
of us, you know what it is?

We've got to take
Jesus out of crisis capacity.

See, Jesus is on
our case manager,

he's our crisis manager.

And some of us feel
like we pay just enough time

to keep Jesus on retainer

so that he's obligated

to show up in our
moment of desperation.

And the word to
somebody is, you got to get him

out of crisis capacity.

Some of you've heard me
say a thousand times over,

Jesus has to be
your first response.

He should always
be your last resort.

See, the problem with
Psalm is that we've made Jesus

Instead of making
him the steering wheel,

we've made him the helmet.

Instead of making
him the handlebars,

we've made him the fireman.

Instead of making
him the smoke detector,

we've made him the repair man

instead of making him
the builder of the house.

Too many of us have
made him 911 instead of 411.

And this is the
word for somebody today.

If you trust him to be
the God of your crisis,

why can't you trust him
to be the God of your calm

just let him be
the God of crisis?

be the God of the calm

there are some things that
