impressed to remind us

that we serve an awesome God.

We serve a God
who is omnipotent,

which means he has all power.

We serve a God
who is omniscient,

which means he
has our knowledge.

We serve a God
that is omnipresent,

which means he's
everywhere at the same time.

I said, we serve
an awesome God today,

but this truth only matters

convinced that God is for you.

Is there anybody that believes
that God is on your side?

called The Last Dance.

And it was documented
that Jordan was so good that in

practice when he was on
the team with the starters,

they would play
games against the reserves.

And when the
starters were winning,

what the coach would do
is he would switch Michael

to the losing
team with the reserves

and it is stated
that he was so good

that the team that was
losing would start winning

whenever Michael was on the
team and the belief was that

whatever team Michael
was on was going to win.

Now, the reason that excites
me is because I'm on a team

with a guy named Michael.

That's pretty good.

And Revelation
12, Michael says that

Michael defeated the
devil and his angels.

You is that when the
devil disputed about the body

of Moses, Michael rebuked him
and brought him on up to glory.

And Daniel, 12, says that
Michael is about to stand up

and start some
trouble that only he can in.

And the word today is, if
Michael Jesus is on your team,

I need you to know that
you're on the winning side

and you don't have to fret
no matter what the score is.

Now, friends, as I
go into this message,

I want to begin to actually
here at the way at the end.

Now, last week we talked about
the fact that the disciples

found themselves in a
storm at the command of Jesus
00:08:03.28\00:08:08.18
Christ, and Jesus
is asleep on a pillow.
00:08:08.22\00:08:11.92
And remember, last week we
talked that the miracle was
00:08:13.09\00:08:15.99
not just that Jesus
was able to stop the storm,
00:08:16.02\00:08:19.96
but the miracle is that Jesus
was able to sleep in the storm.
00:08:21.16\00:08:24.77
And what we learned last week
is that no matter how chaotic
00:08:26.03\00:08:29.20
your outer world,
00:08:29.24\00:08:30.57
there should be nothing that
disrupts your rest and friends.
00:08:30.61\00:08:35.24
As I looked at it,
there was an impending danger
00:08:35.28\00:08:38.98
and panic that began
to seize the disciples.
00:08:39.91\00:08:42.72
And they cried out to him
in fear and declared, Master,
00:08:43.92\00:08:47.52
don't you care
that we are perishing?
00:08:48.42\00:08:50.33
And Jesus stood up in the
boat with the powers of heaven
00:08:51.53\00:08:54.86
at His command.
00:08:54.93\00:08:56.26
And the Bible says that
he rebuked the wind and calm
00:08:56.30\00:09:01.00
the sea.
00:09:01.04\00:09:01.84
And the Bible says
that after he spoke
00:09:01.87\00:09:04.67
that the sea entered
into a space of great calm.
00:09:05.74\00:09:08.54
Now, what captured
my attention, Saints,
00:09:09.48\00:09:11.91
is that after
Jesus calms the sea.
00:09:12.75\00:09:15.05
Notice, Mark,
that he does not soothe
00:09:15.88\00:09:18.29
the disciples
with calm exhortations.
00:09:18.32\00:09:21.49
Notice that he does
not pat them on the back
00:09:22.42\00:09:24.93
and comfort them
with gentle words.
00:09:25.76\00:09:27.46
No, it is that he
does not apologize
00:09:28.30\00:09:30.67
for taking so long
to wake up from a sleep.
00:09:31.57\00:09:34.57
But the Bible says
that he rebukes them sharply
00:09:35.60\00:09:38.87
and says, Why is it
that you have no faith?
00:09:39.87\00:09:44.01
Now, friends, the reason this
00:09:45.08\00:09:47.45
captured my attention is
because I start to wonder
00:09:48.55\00:09:51.89
how the disciples are supposed
to respond in that moment.
00:09:53.09\00:09:57.03
In other words, if
the boat is sinking
00:09:57.93\00:10:00.76
and waves are breaking
in, what is their response
00:10:00.80\00:10:05.57
in that moment?
00:10:05.60\00:10:06.70
In fact, to call
on the name of Jesus
00:10:06.74\00:10:10.04
feels like the
appropriate response.

But when I look at Jesus
rebuke, what guided my study
00:10:14.11\00:10:17.98
this week was the question
that the disciples then needed
00:10:18.01\00:10:22.05
to answer, and the
disciples today need to settle.
00:10:22.08\00:10:25.79
What did Jesus
expect the disciples
00:10:26.65\00:10:29.42
to do in a sinking boat?
00:10:29.46\00:10:31.56
How should disciples respond
when things are out of control?
00:10:32.76\00:10:37.53
Why does Jesus get
upset when He awakes him?
00:10:38.47\00:10:41.84
They are wake him out of sleep.
00:10:41.87\00:10:43.84
The question is
what do we need to know
00:10:43.87\00:10:47.58
when we face our
moments of storms?
00:10:48.41\00:10:50.45
Are you with me today? Church.

Now, the reason
this text is powerful
00:10:52.38\00:10:54.82
because it has implications
for the journey of faith.

And the first thing
Jesus wanted them to know

is that He will never lead
them where he cannot keep them.

I need you to know
that God will never lead

you where He is
unable to keep you.

Now this friends, I
hope ministers to somebody

who is nervous
about this situation,

but I hope that it helps

somebody who is
nervous about their salvation.

Notice that at

the beginning of the journey,
Jesus says to his disciples,

Let us go over
to the other side.

Okay, now, maybe they
should have been nervous

if Jesus said, Let me
go over to the other side,
00:11:45.17\00:11:48.64
maybe they should be scared

if they just decided
to go to the other side.
00:11:51.67\00:11:55.18
Apart from the command of Jesus,
maybe they should be scared

of Jesus.

Just said, y'all
go to the other side.

But notice his
language is inclusive.

He says, Let us go

And the thing
somebody needs to get is that

Jesus invitation is
also Jesus guarantee.

When Jesus says, let us
go over to the other side,

it is a guarantee that nothing
they encounter on the journey

is going to keep them
from getting to the other side,

because Jesus will never leave
you where He cannot keep you.

See how many of us understand
that whenever Jesus gives

an invitation, the
invitation is also a guarantee,

so that when God invites you,
you become his responsibility.

And wherever He leads you

there is nothing that
He cannot keep you from.

So when he says, Let's
go over to the other side,

there is nothing that can
keep them from getting there.

In other words, church,
their outcome is not decided.

When Jesus comes to see
the outcome is determined.

As soon as Jesus
gives them the invitation

and the word to somebody today
is that when Jesus invites you

journey, Jesus is responsible

you complete the journey.

In other words, his
invitation is his guarantee.

You know, my kids
are kind of small,

and when they get a
birthday every now and then,

we will invite

their friends to the house
or over to a place for a party.

Now understand that
whenever you give an invitation,

it also comes with a guarantee.

So sometimes
parents will say, Pastor,

can we bring something to eat
or can we stay around and help?

And I'm grateful
for the consideration,

but understand that when
I give you an invitation,

it also comes with a guarantee
that we are going to make sure

your kids have enough to eat

because I gave
them the invitation.

It comes with a guarantee
that if they get sick, I'm

going to take
them to the hospital

because I gave
them the invitation.

It comes with a
guarantee that if danger comes,

I'm going to protect
them like they're my own

them the invitation.

And somebody needs to know

that when God
gives you an invitation,

that you're going to be fair.

When you take the invitation
he's going to provide.

because the invitation is

And see, perhaps

friends, the reason that
Jesus is upset with the way

they wake him up is because he's
already given a guarantee that

they're going to make

And so you let me suggest to
somebody who is walking in steps

that have been ordered,
by God, I need you to know

that ordered steps can
sometimes be stormy steps,

and that God will
never lead you where he's not

going to keep you.

Now, I want to say this as well
to somebody in these last days

who's somewhat
anxious about their situation,

but more so, I want
to speak to somebody

who is anxious about their
salvation, because the truth
00:15:43.41\00:15:45.97
is, friends of mine,
this world is not our home.
00:15:46.01\00:15:49.54
And by the grace
of God, you and I
00:15:50.31\00:15:52.45
are headed to the other side
00:15:53.11\00:15:55.18
and see the reason I
need somebody to know
00:15:56.08\00:15:58.69
this is because Jesus
invites us knowing who we are.

He invites
00:16:05.19\00:16:06.13
us knowing how
far we have to go.
00:16:06.16\00:16:08.63
He invites us knowing how many
times we're going to follow.
00:16:09.86\00:16:13.07
He invites us knowing how
much work needs to be done.

And so if God invites
you to the other side,

then He's got the capacity
to get you to the other side.

Now, now, the reason I'm saying
this is because there are some

who are bit
spiritually displaced today,

and there are some who
are in a spiritual drought,

and you can't see
00:16:36.19\00:16:37.33
how you're going to
make it to the other side.

There are some today
that are in spiritual bondage

and some falls.
00:16:44.10\00:16:45.33
Have you doubting whether you
can make it to the other side?

There is someone in a state
of backsliding or confusion

and you don't
think that you have

the spiritual strength to
make it to the other side.

And there is an idea
that I want to propose today

that it is not your job
to get to the other side.

It's this responsibility
to get you to the other side.

I know this is going to
challenge somebody today,

so our job is just
to choose salvation.

But it is his responsibility
to deliver salvation.

And I see the reason
that some of us are fearful

about our salvation is we
think that it is our words
00:17:28.64\00:17:33.38
and our faith,
openness and our dedication
00:17:34.28\00:17:37.55
that gets us to the other side.
00:17:38.25\00:17:40.19
But understand, friends of
mine that it is his responsible
00:17:41.36\00:17:45.19
to get you from
this side to the eternal
00:17:46.13\00:17:49.36
to something that he
just provides a little grace
00:17:50.47\00:17:53.44
and the rest of the
response Stability lies on us.
00:17:54.54\00:17:57.04
But the devil is a liar.
00:17:57.61\00:17:59.17
Am I preaching to anybody today?

See, some of us are afraid
because we think our salvation
00:18:01.38\00:18:05.58
is 25% Jesus and 75% us.
00:18:06.15\00:18:10.32
But the reason I have
certainty about being saved

is that my salvation is 1% me,
00:18:14.89\00:18:17.43
but it's 99% Jesus.
00:18:17.96\00:18:20.30
It is his job and his work in us
that gets us to the other side

as he.

The reason I want to say this,

as I was meeting with
some students this week,

they are seeing the
things that are happening

in the political world
and in the physical world,

and they are nervous

about last day
paroles and last day trials.

And they said, I'm not
sure if I have what it takes

to get through
the time of Trump.

I'm in trouble. Right. Right.

Tomato, tomato.

You're not hearing me
today. And other words,

they are nervous
about apocalyptic endings.

But what I need somebody
to know is that it is not

your strength
that gets you through.

It is the hand of God that
brings you to the other side.

somebody that is worried about

when the plagues are falling in

and the world is going crazy?
