place of the most high.

Just because we feel like it.

The truth is that most of us

God when there is a difficulty

that there's a difference

is going to be the thing

praying the story of him

that once he prayed,

if he had just trusted in God,
that would not have been a need

for a night of
Jacob's trouble and wrestling?

In other words,
notice what happens.

He on the front end tries
to sense gifts to appease God,

but then he
gathers himself, calls on

God, and claims the promises
that God made to Abraham.

But because there is no
immediate result, guess what?

Panic sets in

and he goes back to the
old way of scamming his way

out of stuff.

In other words, he
schemed his way out of favor

with Esau

and he tries to scheme his
way back into favor with Aesop.

And this is Jacob's
pattern to one moment.

Hold on to God.

And we got takes too long.

I'm going to let go of God.

I'm going to trust
God in this season.

But when the season does change,
I'm going to let go of God.

I'm going to hold on
to God in this moment.

But when I feel shaky, I
let go of God and understand

that Jacob
literally becomes a parable

of our walk with God.

Because we walk with God
and hold on in one season.

But then when money
gets tight, we let go.

We hold on to
God to get the job.

But when they say You got
to work on Sabbath, we let go.

man, but then we let go.

When that man makes us
compromise our principles.

And Jacob's pattern
is to hold on and let go.

And so God says, I'm gonna
engineer a night of trouble

that teaches you how to hold on

But notice he doesn't
save Jacob in a church service.

in a confrontation.

Jacob by pushing him around.

knocking him to the ground.

manner in which Jacob is saved

place where you want to be saved

looking at this thing

Like the real time.

I kind of the importance of God

wrestling with Jacob
to the breaking of day.

And it's funny

because like one of the things
that God began to reveal to me

is that sometimes wrestling

is a bonding activity,
so that sometimes mothers

and daughters bond differently
than fathers and sons.

So that my wife and daughter,
they might bond while baking
00:08:12.25\00:08:15.06
something in the
kitchen, or they might bond by

getting their
hair or nails done.

They might bond in a very deep
and meaningful conversation.

But brothers,
do I get to witness

that sons and fathers
don't bond always in that way,

but sometimes

we bond through confrontation
and on the basketball court

that that we bond
through a father son rivalry

that's developed over the
years, that sometimes a father

and son will bond back
wrestling with each other.

In fact, friends
of mine, I'll attest

that sometimes in my own house
I got two wonderful big sons.

But I need to know
that sometimes I love them.

But I don't just come
in and give them a hug.

But sometimes I'll come

and just bump into
them to start something

that every now and then

around to see what they going.

a wrestling match right there
in the middle of the bedroom.

Now, all y'all gentle parents
can relate to what I'm saying.

But sometimes fathers and
sons born to a wrestling match.

But there is a
metric behind the madness

wrestle with one another.

See, the truth

is that me and my oldest,
we've been wrestling so long

that now he knows how
to anticipate my moves.

to imitate my moves

His strength has increased

because we've been wrestling.
