00:03 #S084 - A Different Kind Of Praise (Part 2) 00:20 Welcome to 00:21 the Breath of Life Television Ministries broadcast with Pastor 00:24 Debleaire Snell, in today's episode, 00:28 Pastor Snell will continue part two of the powerful message, 00:32 “A Different Kind Of Praise. 00:34 Now let's go deeper into the word of God 00:38 and see there 00:39 some of us, whether or not we ask God or not, we wonder why 00:42 certain things have not been removed. 00:45 The truth is, there are some things 00:46 that you've been praying about for some time 00:50 and you thought that maybe I don't have enough faith, 00:52 or maybe you thought that God didn't hear my prayers. 00:55 Or maybe you thought 00:56 I was not significant enough for God to operate in my behalf. 01:01 And the problem is, you thought certain 01:02 things weren't a hindrance, but the truth is, certain kitchens 01:06 were an advocate. 01:10 See, all of us have some immovable situations 01:12 in our lives. 01:14 See, the thing is, 01:15 I need you to know that sometimes the thorn is 01:17 the one thing that keeps you prayerful. 01:19 It is the one thing that keeps you grateful. 01:23 It is the one thing that keeps you grounded. 01:25 It is the one thing that keeps you dependent. 01:28 It is the one thing that keeps you coming to church. 01:31 Because some of us don't have a thorn in the flesh. 01:34 I don't think everybody has a thorn in the flesh. 01:37 But some of us have a thorn in our finances. 01:39 Some of us have a thorn in our marriages. 01:43 Some of us have a thorn in our workplace. 01:46 Some of us have a thorn in the church, 01:47 all being required today. 01:49 And no matter how hard you pray, no matter where you go, 01:54 no matter how hard you get away from it, 01:56 it shows up before you get where you're going. 01:59 Because God is saying, I need some regulation 02:03 in your life. I hear me today. 02:06 And it comes, as I say, on time, from time to time. 02:09 I remember hearing the story about the Alaskan codfish, 02:13 and they would love to ship this codfish to United States 02:16 because it was very popular here. 02:18 But one of the things that would happen 02:20 is that the codfish 02:21 would become very idle and stationary in their tanks 02:25 during the transit. 02:26 And because they were not moving 02:28 in the tanks, by the time they arrived, 02:31 they would be very mushy and they would lose their flavor 02:35 because they would be idle inside the tank. 02:38 So what they did, Brother Perry, is they start putting 02:40 a catfish inside of the tank with the catfish. 02:44 Now, the catfish is the natural enemy. 02:47 Our era of the catfish. 02:50 And because there was a catfish in the tank, 02:52 they could not be idle in the tank. 02:55 They had to fight in the tank. 02:57 They had to move around in the tank. 03:00 They would be irritated in the tank. 03:03 And by the time they arrived, they had their firmness 03:06 and their flavor because they were assigned 03:08 a catfish to irritate them along their journey. 03:13 And the word to somebody today is that God has assigned 03:16 some catfish 03:19 to your life. 03:20 So some may work with some catfish, 03:24 some worship with some catfish, 03:28 some are related to some catfish. 03:31 Some gave birth to some catfish. 03:34 Some might be married to the oligos 03:39 You might be married 03:43 to a catfish. 03:45 But as long as you keep in your favor 03:49 and your ness, praise God, y'all don't want to praise him. 03:53 Maybe today. 03:54 Praise him for mattress. 03:57 Come on. 03:58 And same in today. 04:01 So the word says here in verse seven, What's this? 04:04 And he says, Unless I should be exalted 04:08 above measure by the stay with me. 04:12 By the way, by the abundance of revelations, 04:17 a thorn in the flesh was given me a messenger 04:20 of Satan to buffet me. Now I need you to get this. 04:22 And I should be exalted above measure 04:26 by the abundance of revelation given me. 04:29 Second thing I need somebody to get 04:30 is that sometimes a thorn is a prerequisite for abundance. 04:37 Okay, let me preach to somebody who wants some abundance today. 04:46 It says A thorn is a prerequisite for abundance. 04:51 Notice. Notice what the word says. 04:53 He says this is why this thorn was assigned 04:56 because of the abundance 05:00 of revelation that is so heavily lavished upon my life. 05:05 In other words, the thorn is not hear me on this. 05:08 It's not punishment for having abundance, 05:11 but it is a regulation when I get deceived 05:13 by my abundance. 05:17 Okay. 05:18 So that imposed journey was average. 05:21 There wouldn't be no thorn 05:25 if his life was ordinary. 05:27 That wouldn't be no thorn. 05:29 If his anointing was docile, there wouldn't be no thorn. 05:34 If God wasn't doing nothing 05:35 supernatural, there would be no thorn in His life. 05:39 If the effervescence were sporadic, 05:42 there wouldn't be any thorn. 05:43 But because God blessed him so abundantly, 05:48 he knows there is a deception with abundance. 05:51 Now, to be clear, 05:52 how many of us know that God is not anti abundance? 05:56 Oh, God, I wish I had a church here with me today. 05:58 Does not Jesus say in John ten and verse ten that I have come 06:04 that they 06:05 might have life and have it more abundantly? 06:10 Is there anybody knows that we don't serve a stingy God, 06:13 but we serve a liberal God that says no good thing? 06:19 Well, I withhold from those who walk up rightly. 06:22 In fact, God says from Deuteronomy eight 06:25 that I want to bless my people with abundance. 06:28 He says, I want you to be the head and not the tail. 06:32 I want you to be above and not be me. 06:35 I want you to be a lender and not a borrower. 06:38 God says, I want to bless you so abundantly that the blessings 06:41 of the Lord will chase you down and overtake you. 06:45 God says that He feeds in 320. 06:48 Now unto Him that is able to do exceedingly 06:53 and abundantly about where the church are today. 06:57 Above all 07:00 that, you can ask God to take. 07:02 So I need you to be clear that God is not having a problem 07:06 with abundance. 07:06 So the problem is not abundance. 07:11 The problem is our nature. 07:16 See, the problem is our misinterpretation of abundance. 07:20 See, the problem is that when you have an abundance of talent, 07:24 somehow you begin to think that you are the source 07:26 of that talent. 07:27 Sometimes when there is an abundance of power, 07:31 sometimes it can corrupt you to the core. 07:34 When there is an abundance of wealth, 07:36 it can make you believe that there is no need for God. 07:40 When there is an abundance of compliments, 07:42 it can get your head 07:43 so big that you cannot fit through the door and see. 07:47 Sometimes God needs to prick us 07:50 so that we are not deceived by the abundance 07:54 that He wants to lavish on our lives, not gain for his. 07:57 I need you to hear me. 07:58 There are conditions which activate the form. 08:02 Notice what he says. 08:03 That there's a temptation. 08:04 He says, My desire, my innate nature, 08:07 is to boast about myself, DeJong said. 08:11 He says My nature is to pat myself on the back. 08:15 My human nature is to praise myself. 08:17 My innate nature is to talk about what I have done. 08:20 My innate nature is to look at how great I am. 08:24 And he literally says, to regulate my flesh. 08:27 The thorn kicks in whenever my head gets too big. 08:31 So what's this? 08:32 This is critical because all you've got to do 08:35 to nullify the foreign is walk in humility. 08:40 Okay. No, no, no, no. 08:43 As long as you humble yourself, the foreign remains dormant. 08:48 You will not hear me today. 08:50 In other words, God says those who humble themselves. 08:55 God says, I will exalt you, but you exalt yourself. 08:59 Then God says, I will humble you and understand 09:02 because the thorn is not punitive. 09:05 It is just protective. 09:07 All you've got to do is trust in the Lord 09:11 with all your heart and lead not to your own. 09:13 Understand. But in every way acknowledge him. 09:16 And he will direct your path. 09:19 And it's funny 09:20 because verse six he says, me and my desire is to both. 09:24 But he says, I on be no fool. 09:26 He says, I've been tricked enough to know what happens 09:29 when I start telling my own story. 09:32 And so I guess before you complain about having a phone, 09:38 maybe you got 09:39 to ask yourself what I rather have abundance 09:43 with afford than to let lack become my thorn. 09:48 Okay. 09:50 I don't know about you, Church. 09:52 I would rather have an abundance of wisdom. 09:56 I would rather have an abundance of favor. 09:59 I would rather have an abundance of blessing. 10:02 I would rather have an abundance of grace 10:05 and have a thorn as a safeguard than to lack 10:08 any of those things and live without a phone. 10:12 I hear what I'm saying today. 10:14 Can anybody praise him for your abundance? 10:17 You got an abundance of wisdom. 10:19 You receiving an abundance of grace. 10:21 You've got an abundance of degrees. 10:23 Come on and say, man. 10:24 You've got an abundance. 10:25 You've got the extra income. 10:27 It's okay. 10:28 But praise God and understand that the thorn is a prerequisite 10:32 for your abundance. 10:34 See, some of us still don't. 10:35 Don't get it. 10:36 The thorn is actually evidence 10:39 of your significance, Gautama. 10:44 I need to go preach out of town. Yea, yea, yea. 10:45 A thorn is proof of your significance. So. 10:49 So that the thorn is almost like an insurance policy. 10:55 So that the price you pay for insurance 11:00 is going to reflect the number of valuables you have. 11:05 So that if you ain't got nothing, guess what? 11:08 Your policy's going to be cheap. 11:11 But your premium is going to be higher. 11:14 The more you have to lose. 11:16 So the more you have to lose. 11:19 The higher the payment is gonna be. 11:22 And the reason there is a high price in the thorn is 11:25 God has said, I've given such wisdom and such grace. 11:30 You've got too much to lose for me to leave you uncovered. 11:35 Are you out here? 11:36 Me today? Search 11:38 everything. 11:39 I need you to get about this. 11:40 About faith. 11:42 Faith is not just waiting for things to change. 11:46 Faith is learning how to accept what God allows 11:51 and now I think there's a portion of this 11:55 that is critical for our daily joy and peace. 11:57 Because God listen, Paul says, I pray three times 12:01 for this thing to be removed. 12:03 And you know what God said to him? 12:05 He says, I'm not touching it. 12:10 I'm going to let it remain. 12:13 Paul, you won't have to live with this. 12:17 Ooh, see, we don't like that. God. 12:19 See, we want. 12:20 We don't want God. 12:21 We want Santa Claus. 12:23 We don't want God. 12:24 We want a G-d that gives wishes. 12:27 But how many of us know our God is not a genie? 12:29 He is a father that determines what we stand in 12:33 need up here in this today church. 12:36 And the good news is that even though he says, Paul, I'm 12:38 going to let this remain, he says, I'm going to give you 12:42 even something greater than the removal of the thorn. 12:45 He says, I'm going to give you a grace 12:48 that is sufficient for every season of your life. 12:52 Oh. Oh, he says. 12:55 I'm not going to take away the weakness, 12:59 but I'm going to make my strength perfect. 13:04 And your weakness 13:08 and friends, I need you to be clear. 13:09 Paul probably does not like the answer to his prayer 13:12 because that's not what he prayed for. 13:14 This thing is bothersome to Paul. 13:16 Listen, it is frustrating to Paul. 13:19 It is crippling to Paul so much that he prayed 13:22 three times for this star and to be removed. 13:25 But after a while, he begins to make peace with this thorn. 13:29 He does not live his life daily, thank God. 13:31 When are you going to remove the thorn? 13:33 He comes to a place where he just accepts what God allows. 13:40 See, friends. 13:41 Faith is not just a perpetual waiting for things to change. 13:48 Okay. 13:48 I mean, let me say it again. 13:51 Faith is not just perpetually waiting for things 13:54 to get better. 13:56 Okay, let me push you all on this side. 13:58 Faith is not just sitting around looking at 2:00, wondering 14:01 when the season is going to change, 14:03 when there's going to be more money in your account, 14:05 when the promotion is going to come, 14:06 when you're nodding or signing arm is going to show up. 14:10 Faith is not just waiting for things to get better. 14:13 Faith is saying, I'm going to accept whatever God 14:17 allows as longest God allows. It. 14:25 See, real 14:26 faith friends, is the peaceful 14:29 acceptance of God's will. 14:32 And it's the hard part of faith 14:34 because this crazy thing, Bobby, like Paul, didn't wait 14:38 until The Thorn was removed to start preaching. 14:41 He didn't wait until the thorn was removed to start healing. 14:44 He didn't wait till things got better to start sharing. 14:48 He didn't wait till things got better to start churches. 14:51 He simply says that I'm going to operate even in this deficit 14:53 that I have and I'm going to trust for historic 14:57 to be made perfect in my weakness. 15:01 And see, this is the work for somebody today. 15:03 If God doesn't change the situation, 15:07 you need to change your disposition. 15:10 Okay. 15:13 You all may have to play earlier today. 15:14 I don't know if God doesn't change the situation 15:18 and He doesn't give you power to change it, 15:21 then you need to change your disposition 15:23 toward the situation. 15:27 Because how many of us know that when God 15:29 has set certain things in place, 15:30 if you're sitting there waiting for certain things 15:32 to change you, waiting on certain people 15:34 to change you wait. No, your parents are. 15:37 Some of us are going to be waiting past 15:38 the second coming of Jesus. 15:42 And the word to somebody today is stop waiting on things 15:46 that get better before you start giving glory to God. 15:51 You ought to wake up and say, This is the day that the Lord 15:54 has made. 15:55 I'm going to rejoice and be glad in it. 15:59 I don't need to be planted somewhere else. 16:01 I don't need to be positioned somewhere else. 16:03 But I'm going the right way. I'm planted. 16:06 Can I show you something in the word? 16:07 Go to Philippians chapter four and verse 11. 16:09 One quick verse. 16:10 I need you to get this 16:11 because this is going to help somebody today. 16:13 Philippians chapter four and verse number 11. 16:17 I want you to see this in the word 16:18 today, Philippians four and verse 11. 16:20 When you get there, let me say, man, 16:22 Philippians four and verse 11, a powerful promise. 16:27 He says, Not Paul, speaking that I speak in regard of need. 16:30 Four he says, I have learned and what ever state I am to be 16:34 what the job catch this church, 16:38 that contentment does not come from outside of him, 16:43 but his contentment erupts from inside of him. 16:47 I don't catch in this day church. Four. 16:49 He says, I know how to be a bass and I know how 16:52 to abound everywhere and in all things. 16:56 I learn how to be both full 16:59 and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. 17:03 But the good news, it's verse 30. 17:05 He says, I can do all things through Christ. 17:09 He gives me strength, 17:14 and this is the word. 17:14 It's gonna be a tough word. 17:16 How many of us know that? 17:17 Oh, Deliverance is not found in change. 17:23 Most deliverance is found in acceptance. 17:30 No, Paul does not stay up late at night, crying out 17:34 to God, day in and day out for him to remove the thorn. 17:39 He simply accepts 17:42 what God has allowed. 17:45 And this is the word for somebody today 17:49 that until God heals your body, 17:53 you've got to 17:54 accept the prognosis that you're having to live with. 17:57 Okay. 17:59 Some of us just have to accept this is the house 18:02 where God houses me. 18:04 Okay, your joy is not going to come 18:09 when your relationship status changes. 18:11 It's going to come 18:12 when you accept where God has positioned you. 18:17 There are some that need to accept your spouse. 18:20 Some be to accept your parents. 18:23 They too old to change. They 85. 18:26 They are what they are 18:27 and you don't need to sit around waiting on them to change. 18:32 But I need somebody to know that your deliverance does not come 18:35 when things change, when things get better, 18:37 when things improve, 18:38 when the rough places are made smooth 18:40 and the crooked places are made straight 18:42 and every mountain is leveled. 18:44 I've got to learn how to peacefully accept 18:47 whatever God allows, 18:51 and I know we don't want to worship Him in this way. 18:53 But how many of us know acceptance is not giving up? 18:57 Accepting is giving over control. 19:01 Acceptance is simply saying, Jesus, you're 19:04 not the copilot. 19:08 See, the problem with some of us is that Jesus is the copilot. 19:13 But you got your hand on the steering wheel. 19:15 But how many of us allow that? 19:16 Jesus doesn't need to be the copilot. 19:19 Jesus needs to be behind the wheel. 19:22 You need to be out of the cockpit. 19:25 And you need to simply say, Lord, have nine own way. 19:28 Lord have thine own way. 19:30 Thou art the potter. 19:32 I am the clay. 19:34 Make me and mold me. 19:35 After that, I will. 19:38 And while you are working, help me to be. 19:41 Stay on. 19:43 The acceptance is not giving up. 19:47 It is simply saying, Lord, I realize 19:50 that there are things that are outside of my control. 19:53 Matter of fact, how many of us know 19:55 you don't control nothing? 20:01 Am I telling you today 20:03 you can't control the traffic on the way to your job. 20:07 You can't control the moods your bosses are going to be in 20:10 when you go to work. 20:11 You can't even control them baby kids that you had that 20:14 live with you every day of your life. 20:18 Control is and illusion. 20:22 And that's why Jane says you ought to stop 20:23 running around here 20:24 talking about what you're going to do next year and next month. 20:28 Cause tomorrow is not. 20:29 You can't even control your today, right? 20:35 That's right. So I don't give up. 20:37 I'm just giving it over to gone 20:40 into a part of it is trusting 20:43 that your God is a good father. 20:47 Anybody believe he's a good, good 20:49 father 20:52 who takes no delight in your suffering? 20:56 And see, I've said it a thousand times. 20:57 Your God is an efficient savior who does not waste your time. 21:02 He does not waste your energy. 21:03 And guess what? 21:04 God won't even waste your hurts. 21:07 He won't let your tears be wasted 21:10 so that everything that taxes you and brings 21:12 vexation to your soul. 21:14 I need you to know that God is going to work it about 21:19 in such a way that it all comes together for your good 21:22 and this earth, or it works to your eternal 21:25 weight in glory. 21:29 You'll hear what I'm saying. 21:31 And see, this is why you've got to have 21:32 a relational kind of worship that I talked about. 21:36 Because if you don't have this kind of relationship with God, 21:39 all you do is 21:40 give God a seasonal and transactional kind of praise. 21:45 But friends of mine, we got to go deeper in the Lord. 21:47 Am I preaching anybody today? 21:49 Well, you got to get like Paul says, 21:51 because it actually sounds like kind of crazy. 21:54 So he says, therefore, 21:56 most gladly. 21:58 I would rather both stay with the church 22:01 and infirmities. 22:05 No, that's crazy talk church. 22:07 You've been reading it so long 22:08 you not even hear what he's saying. 22:09 He says, listen, I both in infirmities 22:13 that the power of Christ 22:16 might rest upon me. 22:20 No, no, no, no. 22:21 He says I take pleasure 22:24 in infirmities, in reproaches, 22:29 in needs, in persecutions, in distress. 22:34 It's for Christ sake. 22:36 For when I am weak, then I'm strong. 22:40 Now somebody, if they read this once the sins part, 22:44 so they're saying asylum because this is crazy talk. 22:48 He says, I find pleasure 22:52 in infirmities, this sickness. 22:57 Okay he said I take 22:59 pleasure in needs that lack. 23:04 I take pleasure in reproaches people not liking me, he says. 23:09 I take pleasure in distress, which is pressure. 23:13 He says. 23:14 I take pleasure in persecution. 23:17 Well, I am ridiculed for my faith and he says, I do it 23:20 all that the power of Christ might rests upon me 23:28 a dark mix. 23:30 I don't know if 23:31 while to getting this thing, he says if I don't both 23:35 and what I lack, then the power of Christ cannot come. 23:40 Okay. 23:42 I'm glad you're sure you're processing this. 23:45 So why do I need to boast and what I'm lacking 23:49 that the power of Christ might come because most of us 23:52 we won't both until the problem has been solved. 23:56 We don't both until the distress is over 24:00 and the persecution has ended and the needs have been filled. 24:04 But Paul says, I don't wake until everything is well. 24:09 To begin boasting, I boast while I'm on the backside, 24:13 I'll begin to praise him while I have nothing. 24:16 I both. 24:17 While sickness is in my body, I'll call 24:20 attention to what I'm lacking. 24:25 So. So you're saying 24:26 why call attention to what you're lacking 24:30 is actually a form of praising God 24:34 in advance. 24:38 He says, I'll call attention to what I lack 24:42 so that when God does sit 24:45 down, see it from the beginning 24:47 to the very end, and they rejoice with me. 24:52 Let me say it this way. So. 24:54 So sometimes Louis in the house, 24:55 when we're watching the movie, one of my kids will come in 24:58 midway in the movie when we're rejoicing 25:02 and getting happy and we're glad about what's happening. 25:06 And then she'll come in I just out as you Brooke 25:09 and say I want a bunch of questions 25:12 what happened in the movie and why are y'all so excited? 25:16 And the reason she can't understand 25:18 is because she didn't see it from the beginning. 25:21 But if she saw it from the beginning, she 25:24 wouldn't just watch us shout, 25:27 but she would shout with us 25:30 because she saw the whole story unfold. 25:34 See, the problem is when you only tell people 25:38 when it's done is all they'll do is watch you shout. 25:42 But when they saw you broke and persecuted it 25:46 and sick and reproach 25:50 and they now see your heart and fulfill 25:54 and healed on the vacuum. 25:58 They don't want to shout, shout with you 26:02 because they saw you go from death to life. 26:07 They showed you can go from cripple to walking. 26:11 They saw you go from persecutor to protected. 26:16 They saw you don't want be well delivered and see 26:19 when you call attention to what you lack, it is a certainty. 26:25 It is how you praise them in advance 26:28 because you know 26:31 that healing is on the way. 26:33 Anybody know 26:36 that deliverance is on the way? 26:39 Anybody praise him in advance? 26:41 That provision is on the way. 26:45 Anybody knows that protection is on the way to some of y'all 26:50 still here saying, I'm going, Wait till it happens to shout. 26:55 But do I have any prophetic greatness that can call 27:00 those things that are not as though they already are? 27:06 And you are saying, I'm not going to praise them, 27:09 but I'm going to lift my hands. 27:11 I'm going open my mouth. 27:14 I'm going to stand on my feet 27:16 and I'm going to praise them for what will be. 27:21 I'm going to praise them for what is coming, 27:24 because history is made perfect in weakness. 27:30 Put your hands together 27:33 and praise him in advance. 27:37 And so praise is what I do. |
