But note this because we
get impressed by the number.

The issue is the result,

the Bible says, and his wives

turned away his heart

for it was so
when Solomon was what?

His wives turn his
heart out to other gods.

And his heart was not
loyal to the Lord, His God,

as was the heart

For Solomon went after Esther,

the goddess of the Sedona

Solomon did evil in
the sight of the Lord,

and did not fully follow the
Lord, as did his father, David.

Then Solomon built a
high place, 40 marched the

abomination of Moab on the
hill that is east of Jerusalem.

where we are faced with
the threat of tornadoes.

And there are times
where I find myself in debates

with people about which is
worse, a hurricane or a tornado.
00:06:16.17\00:06:21.14
And Earl, I tell
people all the time,
00:06:22.18\00:06:24.25
I would gladly deal
with a hurricane because,
00:06:24.28\00:06:27.95
you know, for at least a
week that a hurricane is coming.

But sometimes it is the
suddenness of a tornado that

at times it makes me nervous.
00:06:35.79\00:06:38.46
But what most
storms have in common
00:06:38.49\00:06:41.06
is something with the
cause of their origin.

What causes these storms is an
instability in the environment

where you have elements
that at times are in conflict.

You see tornadoes
seem to happen in abundance
00:06:55.98\00:06:59.11
in the spring where
you have the warm air
00:06:59.15\00:07:03.05
or from above that mixes
with the cold air from beneath.

And when these hot and
cold elements mix, it creates
00:07:08.76\00:07:12.29
an instability that is dangerous
to everyone in their path.

And in summer, when
all the elements are hot,

there is no
instability in the winter,

when all the elements are
cold, there is no instability.

But it is when you have
hot and cold trying to mix.

It creates a volatile
city that can be destructive

and understand that
these weather systems

are a model for a
spiritual and romantic truth.

Because the truth is,
you can have peace in a home

where both parties
are spiritually cold

because they have a
symmetry that binds them as one.

And in a home where both
parties are spiritually hot,

they can reinforce
and anchor one another.

But in a house where one
is hot and the other is cold,

it creates an instability
that leads to the ruin

of the relationship.

And the only way
for there to be peace

is that the one who is
cold has to become hot,

or in many
instances, the one that is hot

takes on the cold
of their past partner

so that the
relationship can abide.

And what I want to say quickly
is that if you want a heart

for God, you need someone
who brings elements rigorously
00:08:34.38\00:08:39.01
that complements your eyes
and not conflicting elements
00:08:40.18\00:08:43.42
that brings
instability to the relationship.
00:08:44.35\00:08:46.86
And at times what we say is
that that person is unstable.
00:08:47.99\00:08:52.13
But because your
romantic elements conflict,
00:08:53.13\00:08:56.06
you together become unstable.

And what I'm
saying to somebody today

is that God has called us
to not be unequally yoked.

is going to teach us

is that certain
things just don't mix.

that came to Solomon
yearly was 666 Talents of Gold.

Bible says in verse 16,

and King Solomon made 200
large shields of hammered gold.
00:09:52.15\00:09:56.69
600 shekels of gold
went into each shield.

He also made 300
shields of hammered gold.

Three miners of gold
went into each sea shield and

the king put them in the
house of the fathers of Lebanon.

Moreover, the king made
a great throne of ivory,

and he overlaid
it with pure gold.

And verse 21 says, All
King Solomon's drinking

vessels were white, and
the vessels of the house

of the fathers of
Lebanon were pure gold.

Not one was silver for
this was counted as nothing
00:10:29.59\00:10:32.93
in the days of Solomon.

Look at verse 27.

The Bible says that the
king made silver as common
00:10:36.23\00:10:40.74
in Jerusalem as
stones, and he made cedar trees
00:10:40.77\00:10:45.11
as abundant as sycamores,
which are in the low land.
00:10:46.24\00:10:49.61
Now, France,
00:10:50.01\00:10:51.08
I need you to be clear
that this text today is powerful
00:10:51.11\00:10:55.08
and it is filled with simple
truths for love and for life.

But the first thing it
teaches is that it is possible

to have too
much of a good thing.

Let me say it
again that it is possible

to have too
much of a good thing.

Now, friends,
what I need you to get

is that one of the
problems with Solomon

is he forgot who
made him successful.

In other words,

it's clear that his
wives actually corrupted him.

But it is actually the
practices that we just studied

that pry the
heart of Solomon Open

so that the wives were
able to plant their poison.

Now, we read at the
beginning that 100 years earlier
00:11:43.80\00:11:46.84
through Moses, God
gave some prohibitions
00:11:47.77\00:11:50.14
to those who
would be king in Israel.
00:11:51.01\00:11:53.04
He gave them to restrictions.
00:11:53.74\00:11:55.51
The Kings were not to multiply
foreign wives unto them selves,
00:11:56.75\00:12:00.82
for they would draw
their hearts away from God.
00:12:01.78\00:12:03.82
And number two,
00:12:04.25\00:12:05.45
they were not to accumulate
too much gold unto themselves.
00:12:05.49\00:12:09.86
And the reason God
said this is that corruption
00:12:09.89\00:12:13.80
would often flow
out of man's excesses.

And notice that Solomon, not
only does he omit this command,
00:12:18.50\00:12:22.67
not only does he
ignore this command,
00:12:23.54\00:12:25.91
he trespasses this
command with impunity.

Now, I need you to get what
happens to Solomon over time.

You need to know
that Solomon lived a life

unlike anybody that ever
walked the face of the earth.

You realize that Solomon was so
tough that other heads of state
00:12:43.69\00:12:47.46
would come not just
to watch his operation,
00:12:48.33\00:12:51.30
but to sit at his feet
and listen to his wisdom.

Do you realize that
00:12:55.74\00:12:56.77
Solomon was so cold
that he actually had his own

theme music that
they hired female singers

to sing his praises when
he walked down the hallway?

In fact, the word
says that annually
00:13:09.62\00:13:11.49
he would bring
over 600 talents of gold
00:13:12.39\00:13:15.12
into the land of Israel, that
he had a throne made of ivory,
00:13:15.16\00:13:19.73
and he ultimately
overlaid it with gold,
00:13:19.76\00:13:22.66
that every cup he
drank from was made of gold,
00:13:23.70\00:13:26.70
and every fork he put in
his mouth was made of gold.

In fact, the
word says that Solomon

had so much gold
that silver lost its value
00:13:33.51\00:13:38.15
because of the amount of gold
that was accessible in Israel.

And notice that it
was the hand of God

that willed these
favors into being.

For Solomon.

But the problem with Solomon

is he stopped being
a conduit of blessing

and he became
constipated with blessing.

In other words, church,
these blessings were to flow

through Solomon's house to
meet the needs of the masses

and to help poor
nations around Israel.

But the problem is
the blessings of God
00:14:11.08\00:14:13.01
got stuck in Solomon's
intestines and he got to a place
00:14:14.12\00:14:17.85
where his success separated
him from his community.
00:14:18.92\00:14:21.99
You see,
understand that Solomon Bobby

had this way, that they would
engage with heads of state.
00:14:26.16\00:14:28.40
But whenever
powerful people come together,

you need to recognize that
it is an exercise in display.

Whenever kings get together,
there is this one upsmanship

that takes place

where they've got

to outdo each other
every time there is a visit.

And that's why the Bible says
that the stuff that happened in

Solomon's house never
happened in any other kingdom.

And when God blessed
Israel with wealth instead of

sending it to the poor,
he hoarded it into his house

so that he could
impress the father and 1%

and understand that not
only did Solomon receive wealth
00:15:07.87\00:15:11.34
through his good
deeds and his trades, Alan

White says that over time,
Solomon begins to be exacting

and he begins to tax the
masses just to supplement
00:15:20.45\00:15:24.32
his own personal
appearance and see, understand.

The problem with Solomon is
that he forgot that his platform

was to be a display
case for the glory of God.

But when you read Solemn its
narrative, what becomes clear

is that after a while,
Solomon becomes less concerned

with the glory of God,
and he becomes more concerned
00:15:44.87\00:15:48.58
with the glory and
fame of His own name.

In other words, his
fall does not begin.

When he gets married,

his fall starts because
he can't manage his success.

And see, the thing that
you need to know is that God

lent Solomon his wisdom so
that he was able to prosper,

that God sent him
untold riches and fame.

And see, I need somebody
to know something about God

that God doesn't mind
sharing with you the bounty,

that God doesn't mind
sharing with you the wealth,

that God doesn't mind
sharing with you, influence.

The only thing God
won't share is His glory

and see, understand.

I need somebody to get it
that when you apply your heart

there are some of us

think that the sin of Solomon

people he slept with,

but the sin of Solomon
is the number of people

he could have helped.

But he didn't.

every trespass is all about

where to smoke and what to
drink and what you do wrong.

while he was
entertaining the wealthiest 1%?

And what of the things I'm
saying is that the greatest

sin is not what
you smoke or drink,

but you'll be held accountable

for those that
you could have helped.

the Bible correctly,

then wisdom is not
just the product of tenure.

It is not just
the product of time.

It is not just the result
of the accumulation of days.

Wisdom has one source.

The Lord Jesus Christ.

And it's funny

because Solomon's life
has a very strange arc to it,

so that his wisdom and his walk
with God, it peaks in his youth

and it declines
as he gets older.

And you would think the opposite
would be true, that his wisdom

and spirituality are
with struggle as he is young

peak as he gets all.

But the opposite is the case.

And young folk

when it teaches, is that you're
never too young to get wisdom.

See, the Bible says if any man
like wisdom, let him ask of God
