generous and also sharing

I need somebody to know

that those that are the
most abundant in their harvest

most abundant in their sowing

is that we have allowed

the religion of
Jesus to be made selfish

because we

approach Jesus with
a consumers mentality.

Look at the way we
talk in contemporary times.

Look at the vernacular

that has emerged
when Jesus made it clear

that if you want to be
great, you got to become a what?

You got to become a
servant, not a consumer.

So that in the church,
when when church gets good,

what we say is, I receive that.

We don't say I give that.

Oh, you're all quiet today.

We say, Pastor, I claim that.

We don't say
Pastor. I share that.

We say, Pastor, I want
to receive the overflow.

But we never say, I
want to pour in the overflow

approach it like consumers.

But Jesus says that if you
want to receive an abundance,

in the same way you gave it.

I mean, this literally happened
just a couple of weeks ago,

I was going down by the
map coast on Memorial Parkway.

And and while I'm there
getting gas, there is this lady

who is who is looking
for somebody to assist her

with getting money for her car.

Our gas.

Now, I don't
always do this smart,

but I pray for discernment

and understanding on
how I am supposed to move.

And so I felt impressed to give

because I believe what

Hebrews say is

that sometimes you've
got to entertain strangers,

because sometimes you
entertain angels on a way.

And it's crazy Baptists.

Because that day

I just give $30 to help
her get her tank filled up.

I didn't give her a
track or any literature.

I just wanted to meet
the need that she had.

She went her way.

And it's crazy that before
I even left the parking lot,

I heard the Sound of Cash app.

And because it was
October one, I had a member

from like 12
years ago for a pastor

appreciation month
sent an amount of $300.

Are not hearing me today.

In other words, I gave $30,

got multiplied at times, came

and sold it right
back into my bosom.

But he didn't just
give like you gave it.

But God says, I'll give it
dress down, shaking together

and running over

and see the word I want
to say to somebody today

is instead of saying,
Lord, give me a blessing,

prayed Lord, make me a blessing.

In other words, don't just
look to receive a blessing.

Look to be a blessing.

And when you
look to be a blessing,

blessings will
come looking for you.

I do want to pause to say

steer us away from the belief

that I give in order to receive.

How many of us know
who helped me, Lord?

How many of us
realize that giving

is its own blessing?

See, only those that have faith
know what I'm talking about.

See, some of us won't stop
until we see reciprocation.

But how many of us know that
the greatest blessing is not?

When I receive by it is
that God has blessed me so much.

with Jesus, says Matthew.

Since Luke's 16th birthday,
he says, if you give doctrines,

it will be giving back to you.

Good measure, press down,
shaking together, running over

so that men will fill up
your bosom, the Bible says.

Now, the reason I'm
saying this is because

we don't give in order to get.

In fact, I literally saw this.

I never really
understood what he meant

until we were in the Holy Land.

A year ago I saw this actually
at one of the local swap meet

when the ladies went in
to get goods and groceries.
00:07:12.89\00:07:15.20
They don't always go
in with just grocery bags.
00:07:16.20\00:07:18.17
But what some of
the ladies would do
00:07:19.03\00:07:20.10
is they would wear a
robe that had a girdle
00:07:20.14\00:07:23.77
both in the back
and in the front.
00:07:23.81\00:07:25.87
And so they didn't necessarily
just fill up their grocery bags,
00:07:27.11\00:07:30.31
but what they would do is
they would put the goods inside
00:07:31.48\00:07:33.55
of this, girded a
robe they were wearing,
00:07:33.58\00:07:36.62
so all the groceries
would fill up their bosom
00:07:37.65\00:07:40.52
and literally some times
when they've received a lot,
00:07:41.66\00:07:44.43
their bosom would be over
00:07:45.06\00:07:47.30
overflowing.
00:07:49.13\00:07:50.90
Now, what am I
saying to the church?

Cause you don't
give in order to get.
00:07:52.83\00:07:55.10
Because what Jesus is
saying is that men are not just
00:07:56.20\00:07:59.01
going to pour into
your financial bosom,
00:07:59.04\00:08:01.48
but he is talking
about the bosom of your soul.
00:08:02.48\00:08:06.05
He's talking about
the bosom of your heart.
00:08:06.95\00:08:09.68
You see, the
greatest blessing is not just
00:08:10.65\00:08:13.52
when I give and
God fills my pocket.
00:08:13.56\00:08:16.99
The greatest blessing
is when I give and God
00:08:17.93\00:08:20.43
fills my heart
and he fills my soul
00:08:20.46\00:08:23.93
and he fills my spirit
where it's overflowing.

And I can't contain
my contentment or my joy,

because the best part of
giving is the blessed thing

that God puts in your
soul, not in your pocketbook.

And it's

funny because the word says
here, I want you to see this.

Jesus goes on here in verse
39, y'all sit with me church.

So he says in verse 39,
he spoke a parable to them
00:08:54.76\00:08:56.80
saying, Can the
blind lead the blind?
00:08:57.70\00:08:59.20
Would they both not
fall into the ditch?
00:08:59.23\00:09:01.40
And he says a disciple
is not above his teacher,
00:09:01.44\00:09:03.64
but everyone who is perfectly
trained is going to do what
00:09:03.67\00:09:07.51
he's going to be like,
his teacher said today.

Church.
00:09:12.11\00:09:12.95
All right.

Third thing that this teaches us
is that everything you learned
00:09:14.55\00:09:17.62
in church
didn't come from Jesus.
00:09:17.65\00:09:22.42
Let me say it again.

Everything you learned in church
00:09:29.33\00:09:31.50
didn't come from Jesus.

It's only because
when you look at this text
00:09:35.34\00:09:36.67
where Jesus is talking about
judging, right, and condemning,
00:09:36.71\00:09:40.68
but then you have interspersed
between the top and the bottom.
00:09:41.91\00:09:44.35
This dialog about
following blind guides
00:09:45.28\00:09:47.52
and he talks
about how a teacher,
00:09:48.32\00:09:49.65
a disciple is
never going to be greater
00:09:49.68\00:09:51.69
than the one
who is teaching him.
00:09:51.72\00:09:53.76
And it almost feels
like it is out of sorts,
00:09:53.79\00:09:56.39
as if it does not belong.
00:09:56.42\00:09:58.53
But. But, but.

But, Mark,

what Jesus is trying to say,
the reason there is a critical

and judgmental spirit that
lives inside of the church,

that the spirit of judgment
does not come from Jesus.

It comes from your tradition
and what Christ is helping.

The the Jewish Church of the
Day understand is that many of

the things you call
sacred don't come from God.
00:10:23.08\00:10:27.32
They've just been passed
down with such consistency
00:10:28.46\00:10:31.66
that because it's
been happening a long time,
00:10:32.69\00:10:35.06
you think it must
come from Jehovah.

And he says it is the
equivalent of blind guides,

leading blind
people and all generations.

Wind up in the ditch

and see.

That's why Jesus had to come.

Right. Okay. You are missing it.

See, some of us think
the only reason Jesus came

was so that He
could die on the cross.

If all Jesus had to
do was die on the cross,

he could have
showed up as a 30 year old.
00:11:06.36\00:11:07.83
Went to the cross the next
day and rose on the third day.

But the reason, Robert,
that Jesus lived for 30 years

plus is to show the world
what the invisible God was like.

He says, I set
the Jewish nation.

I sent the scribes.

I sent the Pharisees.

I sent the prophets.

But they but my
character is so bad

that I going to come in person

to show the world
what God is actually like.

And He's making it clear
that there are just certain

things that have
just been passed down

and accepted as truth.

Do you realize
in ancient Judaism

they had all these
various lines of delineation

where they would apply judgment

based upon things
that had no kingdom value?

They would judge you
based upon how many steps you

took on the Sabbath day

that that

you would be condemned
based upon whether or not

you wash your hands
before you ate a meal.

And that is why Jesus
says, Man, this people

worship me with their lips,
but their heart is far from me.

Because you teach as doctrine
the commandments of man,

and because you see
these things practiced

with such
consistency for so long

that you think
they came from me.

And see, the thing I
need somebody to understand

is that the same way
that there was a spirit

of criticism and judgment
that invaded the ancient church,

there is a spirit of
judgment that invades,

not just not this one,
but many of our churches,
00:12:49.10\00:12:53.23
because there are certain things
that we've just been seeing
00:12:54.44\00:12:57.27
happen for so long
00:12:57.31\00:12:59.04
that we've
assigned godliness to it.

And God is saying, Is
everything you got in church
00:13:03.58\00:13:05.91
didn't come from me.

In fact, I've
seen this firsthand
00:13:09.45\00:13:11.52
with the sister
that is most adamant
00:13:12.39\00:13:14.99
that the young girl who gets
pregnant gets disfellowshipped
00:13:16.22\00:13:19.19
is the same sister that
30 years earlier got pregnant
00:13:20.26\00:13:23.93
and somebody else
disfellowshipped her.
00:13:24.87\00:13:27.47
And because that example
was all that she knew, she felt
00:13:28.60\00:13:32.67
she had to pass it down
and exact it on somebody else.

And Jesus is saying

judge people based upon them?

Eating meat are not eating meat.

what goes in that defiles,

comes out that defiles.

for the health message.

But health makes
you healthy, not holy.

And other words, I've
seen enough vegan devils

and plant based
devils to realize that

this parent does

See, some of us
grew up under that joke

is because the angels stayed

We even judge one another

by the things
that we go through.

So that what we do is we

assign judgment based on
the adversity people go through.

There are some of us.

We won't say it out
loud, but we believe bad

things are happening
because bad things are hitting.

But you think

if there was living right, that
wouldn't be happening to them?

but we think that they kids

will still be in the church
if they weren't doing such

and such behind closed doors.

ourselves they wouldn't be sick

if they were walking
more rightly unto the Lord.

And we believe
that every bad thing

is the result of a bad habit.

But did not Jesus say that I'm
going to cause the rain to fall

and the just and the unjust
and I'm going to make the sun

rise on the
evil and on the good.

Where in the Bible did it
say that if you live godly,

every day is going to be harvest
break through and deliverance?

But the Bible says

many aren't the
afflictions of the righteous,

but the Lord
delivers them from them all.

And judgment is
when you assign a cause

let the Scriptures be our God
