the heroes of our faith

and how it is that they dealt

with the everyday
struggles of life.

Because your

spirituality does not
cancel out your flawed humanity.

In other words,
nor was spiritual.

But he was so overwhelmed
by the trauma of the flood

that he got sloppy drunk

yet he was still lustful.

Yeah, he got suicidal.

Eli was spiritual, but
he still had stupid kids.

Peter was spiritual.

Yeah, he was still bias.

Samson was spiritual.

Yeah. He still chose poorly.

Thomas was spiritual,
but he still had that.

John the Baptist was spiritual.

But it got so hard
that he sent a message

just to Jesus to
say, Are you the one

or should I look
for somebody else?

And it's crazy because of pride.

Some of us will go see a doctor
when we're physically sick

because of pride.

Every prayer request has to
be unspoken because of pride.

Couples will be in trouble
and won't sit down with nobody

Things are not well inside and
we won't connect with somebody

what you need to be
praying for and I'm not.

Go hide the prayer request
because if you don't tell folks

what to pray for,

it affects the way
that they're praying.

So if I have cancer, I'm going
to tell you it might be cancer.

I'm going to ask you to pray

for the spirit of
reconciliation in my home.

about what nobody thinks because

The Bible says that we
overcome by the Word of our

Friends

One of the things that we're
it teaches us today is that

you serve a God who is able.

You see friends.

One of the things that makes
this text so powerful is that

the man doesn't even make
an appointment to see Jesus.

He don't get on Jesus calendar.

In fact, I need you to
see how this thing goes down.

In fact, what this man
has done, he's probably been
00:03:40.65\00:03:42.65
stalked, Jesus, from a
distance from some time.

In other words, he's
been doing reconnaissance work

well beyond the distance,
so as not to be observed

unnoticed by the crowd,

so that he has been
watching Jesus from the brush.

He has been checking out
Jesus in the cleft of the rock.

He has been watching
Jesus from a distance.

And the writer of Desire, Major,
says that faith is welling up

in the man's heart
00:04:07.21\00:04:08.34
because he is seeing how
Jesus is able to heal so many.

But guess what?

You know

what makes the man's faith
so radical is that he approaches

Jesus without the assurance
that Christ is even willing

to bring about healing.

And you realize that
there is risk for this,
00:04:26.03\00:04:28.13
because if a leper who is filled
with leprosy leaves his colony
00:04:29.36\00:04:32.60
and goes into
public space, ritual law

allows them to
stone him to death.
00:04:36.54\00:04:38.71
So if Jesus done

heal him, he dies on the spot.

But I'm like this
about the brother.

He says, If I don't go
to Jesus, I'm going die.

And so if I'm don't
die, I'm going to die trying.

Do I have anybody that
says, if I don't go to Jesus,

So if I'm going to take a risk,

and put my money on Jehovah.

And it's funny
because his brother puts his

his need for wholeness
above his desire for privacy.

And so he has been watching for
a distance for quite some time.

He waits for this moment
where the crowd thins out.

Perhaps this is at the
very beginning of the day.

And it's amazing because he
comes and races toward Jesus.

And as they notice that
this man is full of leprosy,

the car crowd falls back
and opens up like the Red Sea.

And the words say
is that the man comes

with a desperate race and
any guilt, a sense of fear

about condemnation,
so much so that he does

not even lift up his
eyes to look upon the Savior
00:05:47.21\00:05:50.78
and with his face
bowed down to the earth.

Notice what he says.

He says, Lord, if
you are just willing,

I know you can make me whole

and know this kind of what
he is suggesting in his request.

He is simply
saying, Lord, I know

I am clear.

And the fact that you're able.

The only thing I'm not sure
of is if you're willing and see.

to tell somebody who
is trying to handle life

in your own devices

and according to your
own wisdom in routines.

that you serve a God.

Oh, God. I'm about to burst.

Well, the question
is posed, is anything

too hard for God?

announce to somebody today

that nothing you go through

is too hard for your God.

I need you to know your
bills are not too great for God.

Your enemies are
not too strong for God.

Your tuition is
not too hard for God.

Your baby mama is

The reason this is important

to maintain church.

What theologians refer
to as a high view of God

is because when you
have a love you of God,

it actually dictates
what you even ask God for.

So that when you
have a love, you have God.

All you ask for is
for God to pay the bills.

When you got to love your
God, are you asked for for God

spot at the front of Wal-Mart?

When you have a love
your God, all you ask for

God to do is help you
get to the end of the week.

But how many of us know
when you have a high view of God

And I'll be like,
Yeah, yeah, I know

they are.

They'll ask for certain things.

I'll be in Florida or
somewhere in the Caribbean,

and my daughter
will get on face time.

You know what
you asked me to see?

Like Daddy without flinching.
00:09:11.55\00:09:13.31
Bring me back a palm tree.

And she didn't have
any doubt in her mind

that it was going to
actually be able to be done.

And what I'm saying is that

if kids can have that
type of confidence in a flawed

weakened earthly parent,

who says there is nothing

So he's saying,
God, I know you're able.

do. It would buy me.

In other words,
Jesus, I've Googled you.

I know who you are, and
I know what you're able to.

The only question I
have got is, are you willing

to make me clean?

And it's a very
interesting situation

because he's
questioning not God's ability,

but he's
questioning God's willingness.

And I love what Jesus does.

The word literally
says that he goes down

and he touches
the man by the hand.

And guess what, Prince?

This is the beauty
of the whole sermon.

It's not when he heals
the man, but he simply says to

I need you to see what
is happening in that moment.

Jesus is not just
speaking to the man's situation.

He's speaking past
the man's predicament,

speaking to every believer

announcement to all of humanity

to step in your situation

the chaos you are facing.

on how to interpret
the willingness of God?

about four places in the world,

over there in the Old Testament,

some things in the world today,

there in the Old Testament.

to evaluate God's willingness.

Number one, you got to
realize that God is never going

to contribute to
your destruction.

that God is unwilling to do

something that's going
to work towards your demise.

Y'all saw it in the scriptures.

Well, he withhold from
those who walk up rightly.

And see,

sometimes you got to

make a distinction
between the available thing

and the good thing, so
that if it is not given, then

to work out for your good.

I have seven folk that have
been on the journey of faith

that no good thing

will God withhold
from them who love Him.

Anybody thankful for some
deals that didn't go through?

some brothers that didn't

propose anybody thankful
for some jobs you didn't get

houses you didn't close on.

And you realize that once
you saw it all come together.

Well, God withhold from
those who walk up lightly.

So the only thing
that God is unwilling to do

is to make a contribution
to something that is going

to wind up lesser than
his best design for your life.

As I remember, we moved
here in Huntsville in 2010

and we have been renting
houses for about four years.
00:14:59.49\00:15:02.00
And so,
00:15:02.03\00:15:02.90
you know, as our
family continued to grow,
00:15:02.93\00:15:04.10
we needed
00:15:04.13\00:15:05.10
to finally get into
a house that would meet
00:15:05.13\00:15:06.63
kind of our
family's current dimensions.
00:15:06.67\00:15:08.70
And so we begin the
process of looking for a house.

And God had let my wife and I
00:15:11.54\00:15:13.21
to the
neighborhood where we live.
00:15:13.24\00:15:14.68
And we had gone and prayed and
00:15:14.71\00:15:16.64
walked through the neighborhood
and saw the face of the Lord.
00:15:16.68\00:15:19.25
And we thought
that we heard the Lord
00:15:20.12\00:15:20.95
aiming us in a
particular direction.
00:15:20.98\00:15:22.95
God bless where we finally
got approved for the loan.
00:15:24.09\00:15:26.39
But as we got into
the underwriting process,

there was a tax document
that was prepared incorrectly

a couple of years
before, and guess what?

The whole thing fell through

and we had to remain in a
rental posture for another year

and we thought, Man, God,
we thought we heard you, Lord.

We thought we were following
your leadership and direction.

And so we had to sit
still for another year.

But fast forward
during the course of the year,
00:15:50.05\00:15:51.68
because of where we
were in about 2013 and 2014,

I need you to note that
the interest rates dropped

all the way under to 4%
because housing was slow,

the houses in the neighborhood
got dropped down by about 20%.

I need you to know
that God put out a model

that was a little bit more
child friendly and to our needs.

And I need you to know
that God preserved the house

at the right time
and the right price.

And because we waited a
year between the interest rate

and the price, God
probably saved $150,000

out of the price of the house.

not withhold the good thing,

but he might save a good
thing for the right time.
