#S074 - All You Had To Was Ask (Part 2) 00:00:04.83\00:00:09.74 Welcome to The Breath of Life. 00:00:19.88\00:00:21.52 Television Ministries broadcast with Pastor Debleaire Snell. 00:00:21.55\00:00:25.59 In today's episode. 00:00:25.62\00:00:27.32 Pastor Snell will continue part two of the powerful message. 00:00:27.36\00:00:32.09 “All You Had to Do Was Ask” 00:00:32.83\00:00:35.23 Now let's go deeper into the Word of God 00:00:36.16\00:00:38.83 and see what I need somebody to know 00:00:39.70\00:00:41.57 is that sometimes the hardest thing 00:00:41.60\00:00:44.47 that get done every day are your spiritual objectives. 00:00:44.51\00:00:48.08 And it is because the enemy knows 00:00:48.84\00:00:50.78 that when you come out of that prayer closet, 00:00:51.78\00:00:56.02 he knows that when you come out of that war room, 00:00:56.05\00:00:58.92 there is an anointing that is upon you 00:00:59.82\00:01:02.22 that he knows that he can't even fool with. 00:01:03.12\00:01:05.69 And so he's got to distract you before you go in. 00:01:06.73\00:01:09.33 He's got to resist you before you get on your knees. 00:01:10.47\00:01:12.47 He's got to keep you away from the altar 00:01:13.40\00:01:15.34 because your prayer life makes you so powerful 00:01:16.30\00:01:18.64 that he has to protest it in every way. 00:01:19.57\00:01:21.58 And what I'm saying to somebody today is that when your prayer 00:01:22.81\00:01:25.65 life is protested, that's where you've got to lean into it. 00:01:25.68\00:01:30.02 See, the problem with some of 00:01:31.39\00:01:32.39 us is too often we pray, like volunteer hours. 00:01:32.42\00:01:35.66 In other words, is something 00:01:37.53\00:01:38.69 I can do or something I cannot I can't do. 00:01:38.73\00:01:41.60 In other words, it's optional. 00:01:42.30\00:01:43.90 We don't see that it is consequential 00:01:43.93\00:01:46.30 to the outcomes of each and every day of your life 00:01:47.40\00:01:49.67 and the daily experiences which you have. 00:01:50.64\00:01:52.27 But I need somebody to know that the most important 00:01:53.41\00:01:55.98 part of your day. 00:01:56.48\00:02:00.38 Lord, I wish I had more than three 00:02:02.72\00:02:04.22 or two or three rolls of church today. 00:02:04.25\00:02:06.82 But the most important part of your day, 00:02:06.86\00:02:10.06 it ain't getting to work on time. 00:02:10.09\00:02:12.43 It is not making sure the bills get paid. 00:02:12.46\00:02:14.66 The most important part is not your breakfast, lunch or dinner. 00:02:15.90\00:02:18.17 The most important 00:02:18.67\00:02:19.77 part of your day is making sure that you make connection 00:02:19.80\00:02:23.04 with the King of Kings and the Lord of Laws, 00:02:24.04\00:02:26.04 and that you have private time to call upon His great name. 00:02:27.28\00:02:30.28 Are you meant to be today? Church. 00:02:31.11\00:02:31.85 And so the reason this is critical 00:02:33.21\00:02:35.08 is because sometimes we treat optional things 00:02:35.12\00:02:37.59 like they are essential 00:02:38.15\00:02:39.29 and we treat essential things like they are optional. 00:02:39.32\00:02:42.19 And see, that's why every now and then, 00:02:43.06\00:02:44.39 if we just read it there in our text, sometimes 00:02:44.43\00:02:47.30 God has allowed some trouble to touch you 00:02:47.30\00:02:50.67 so that you realize that your help 00:02:52.07\00:02:54.74 it only comes from the Lord. 00:02:55.40\00:02:57.47 Are y'all with me today? France. 00:02:57.51\00:02:59.87 I see. 00:02:59.91\00:03:00.91 And that's why the Bible says that Daniel 00:03:00.94\00:03:04.08 set his face to pray. 00:03:04.65\00:03:08.75 Oh, God. 00:03:08.78\00:03:10.25 In other words, he did not go before God with a weak 00:03:10.29\00:03:13.79 willed petition that can be easily deterred by man. 00:03:14.92\00:03:17.99 Some more is our interruption. 00:03:18.03\00:03:20.10 The Bible says he set his face to pray. 00:03:20.13\00:03:22.96 And I love Malcolm because the scholars 00:03:23.87\00:03:25.07 give different interpretations 00:03:25.10\00:03:26.74 of what it means to set your face to pray. 00:03:26.77\00:03:29.44 Some believe admits that he set aside a time to pray, 00:03:30.57\00:03:33.07 that he set aside a place to pray, that he minimized 00:03:34.21\00:03:36.98 personal distractions. The prank. 00:03:37.01\00:03:39.01 In other words, 00:03:39.05\00:03:40.15 he put a barricade around private time with the Lord 00:03:40.18\00:03:43.89 so that nothing could interrupt his interactions with Jehovah. 00:03:45.12\00:03:48.96 And when I need somebody to get is that a strong prayer? 00:03:50.09\00:03:52.49 Life is not accidental. 00:03:52.53\00:03:54.40 It is intentional. 00:03:55.56\00:03:57.13 You got to make time to pray. 00:03:57.17\00:03:58.57 I hear that. Hear me today. 00:03:58.60\00:03:59.87 You got to find a place to pray. 00:03:59.90\00:04:01.87 You got to be consistent. 00:04:01.90\00:04:03.67 And you got to set your face. 00:04:03.71\00:04:06.04 To call on the name of the Lord. 00:04:06.98\00:04:09.41 And I love kind of what that word to set your face. 00:04:09.44\00:04:12.41 It has a particular connotation. 00:04:13.11\00:04:14.98 It has a certain word picture 00:04:15.68\00:04:17.12 that shows up in the form of battle. 00:04:17.15\00:04:19.25 So that what would happen, Dr. 00:04:19.95\00:04:20.92 Doolin, is that if you are a soldier in the war 00:04:20.96\00:04:23.89 and if you are a horseman or you rode a chariot, you 00:04:25.03\00:04:28.13 what happened is you would be led by the general 00:04:29.13\00:04:30.43 on the lead horse or the lead chariot. 00:04:31.33\00:04:33.47 And what would happen is you had to set your face 00:04:34.47\00:04:36.60 in order to follow the general, especially when they were going 00:04:37.87\00:04:40.81 through rocky or desert terrain, because when the lead 00:04:41.91\00:04:44.75 was going through 00:04:45.25\00:04:46.21 desert or dusty terrain, his chariot or his horse 00:04:46.25\00:04:49.15 would kick up a bunch of dust 00:04:49.85\00:04:51.19 in the face of those who were behind him. 00:04:51.22\00:04:53.72 And so what they could not do was turn away from the general. 00:04:54.96\00:04:58.09 They couldn't close their eyes. 00:04:58.79\00:05:00.40 They couldn't go their own path. 00:05:00.43\00:05:02.46 They had to set their face to make sure that no matter 00:05:02.50\00:05:06.10 how many pebbles flew up, 00:05:06.13\00:05:08.10 no matter 00:05:08.14\00:05:09.27 how much dust was kicked up, they had to set their face 00:05:09.30\00:05:12.27 and keep their eyes state upon the lead. 00:05:13.21\00:05:14.88 General. 00:05:14.91\00:05:15.84 And I need to know, do I have any believer 00:05:15.88\00:05:17.91 that are going to keep their eyes on the lead, General? 00:05:19.01\00:05:21.75 You got to keep your eyes on the Lord Jesus. 00:05:22.75\00:05:25.15 And it doesn't matter how much does the devil kicks up. 00:05:26.32\00:05:28.19 It doesn't matter how many pebbles hit your windshield. 00:05:29.36\00:05:31.16 It doesn't matter how many distractions come. 00:05:32.19\00:05:33.66 I'm gonna keep my mind stayed on. 00:05:34.46\00:05:38.00 Jesus. 00:05:38.03\00:05:39.37 Are y'all hear me today? Friends. 00:05:39.40\00:05:41.04 And so the Bible 00:05:42.44\00:05:43.57 says here and Daniel chapter nine verses five and six. 00:05:43.61\00:05:46.91 I want you to see something here in the word today. 00:05:46.94\00:05:48.84 Ten year chapter nine versus five and six. 00:05:48.88\00:05:51.28 The word says it like this. 00:05:51.95\00:05:53.72 Then you nine. 00:05:53.75\00:05:54.68 We have seen and we've committed iniquity. 00:05:54.72\00:05:56.85 We have done wickedly and rebelled. 00:05:57.72\00:05:59.15 Even by departing from your precepts 00:06:00.09\00:06:01.56 and your judgments, 00:06:01.59\00:06:02.72 neither have 00:06:02.76\00:06:03.53 we heeded your servants, the prophets 00:06:03.56\00:06:05.29 who spoke in your name to our kings 00:06:05.33\00:06:07.86 and our princes, to our fathers 00:06:08.56\00:06:10.03 and to the people of the Lord, to the people of the land. 00:06:10.07\00:06:13.74 Third thing that just teaches us friends is that sometimes 00:06:13.77\00:06:17.64 chastening is necessary. 00:06:18.64\00:06:20.84 Okay, that was quite a man. 00:06:22.54\00:06:25.61 Sometimes chastening is necessary. 00:06:26.61\00:06:30.22 Now I need you to notice something that Daniel confesses 00:06:31.35\00:06:35.19 these sins, and he writes these things down 00:06:35.22\00:06:38.29 in a detailed and informative way. 00:06:38.33\00:06:41.23 Because understand that this prayer 00:06:42.06\00:06:43.26 is going to also be sent to the other Hebrews 00:06:43.30\00:06:45.97 that are dispersed throughout the channel audience 00:06:47.00\00:06:49.04 and to the different lands to which they've been driven. 00:06:49.07\00:06:51.51 Now, now, 00:06:51.87\00:06:52.77 the one thing you see in Daniel's prayer 00:06:52.81\00:06:54.24 about a prayer of confession, 00:06:54.28\00:06:56.14 one of the things you got to notice 00:06:56.18\00:06:57.35 is that prayer can't be general 00:06:57.38\00:06:59.31 prayer. 00:07:02.82\00:07:03.45 Confession can't be general. 00:07:03.49\00:07:05.62 Confession has to be specific. 00:07:06.32\00:07:08.32 Oh, I love how we come to God. 00:07:09.36\00:07:12.83 Unsure as if we have said 00:07:12.86\00:07:16.53 we come before God. 00:07:17.07\00:07:18.27 Very high minded saying Lord, forgive us if we have said, 00:07:18.30\00:07:21.07 you know doggone well today, no matter 00:07:21.97\00:07:24.17 if you have sent us right there, when you say, come on is hey, 00:07:25.41\00:07:29.18 man in the Bible says in the Book of Moses 00:07:29.21\00:07:32.21 that we have to be specific, specific 00:07:33.08\00:07:35.22 in the very thing that we confess unto the Lord. 00:07:36.28\00:07:38.45 And so Daniel is very specific and laying out his confession 00:07:39.72\00:07:42.19 before the Lord. 00:07:42.22\00:07:43.16 He talks about how we have exited the Covenant. 00:07:43.19\00:07:45.89 He talks about how we rejected the council of the Prophets. 00:07:47.13\00:07:49.56 He talks about how we just 00:07:50.20\00:07:51.27 obeyed the commandments and not follow your ways. 00:07:51.30\00:07:54.17 He is very specific and the way he confesses sins to God. 00:07:55.34\00:07:58.84 Now, this is crazy, because what Daniel is doing 00:07:59.91\00:08:02.88 is he's praying for the people, 00:08:03.58\00:08:05.91 but he's not praying on behalf of the people. 00:08:06.85\00:08:09.75 That is saying that 00:08:10.89\00:08:12.02 he's confessing sins on their behalf. 00:08:13.32\00:08:16.73 But Daniel is not mirroring their sentiments. 00:08:17.76\00:08:20.80 Are y'all hear me today, friends? 00:08:20.83\00:08:22.56 See, I need to understand, when you look at the Old Testament, 00:08:22.60\00:08:25.23 there is a particular imagery 00:08:25.93\00:08:27.44 that is used for the children of Israel. 00:08:27.47\00:08:29.47 Often Israel is stated as being like a stubborn mule 00:08:30.61\00:08:35.01 that refuses to get it because of their hard 00:08:36.01\00:08:39.08 heartedness toward God. 00:08:39.11\00:08:40.95 I am still with me. 00:08:40.98\00:08:42.38 In other words, I need to forget that 00:08:42.42\00:08:43.92 this is not the sentiment of the people. 00:08:43.95\00:08:46.62 This is Daniel expressing the correct sentiment 00:08:47.59\00:08:49.42 on their behalf. 00:08:49.86\00:08:51.19 In other words, I need somebody to understand 00:08:51.23\00:08:53.29 the reason that Daniel lays out those confession in such detail 00:08:54.56\00:08:57.67 is that, man, God is so merciful that the people 00:08:58.67\00:09:01.67 don't even realize why they are there in Babylon. 00:09:01.70\00:09:05.07 They don't even realize why they have wound up 00:09:06.11\00:09:08.84 in this particular situation. 00:09:08.88\00:09:10.61 Now, it's crazy because like we have this idea 00:09:10.65\00:09:13.05 that in the New Testament, God is merciful. 00:09:14.02\00:09:15.98 But in the Old Testament, God is vengeful. 00:09:16.95\00:09:19.02 We have this wrong idea 00:09:19.59\00:09:20.89 that somehow God was just mad all the time, that he was 00:09:20.92\00:09:23.99 just this volatile, explosive God that just exacted judgment. 00:09:24.03\00:09:27.86 Every single time you sin. 00:09:28.50\00:09:29.73 But the devil is a lot. 00:09:29.76\00:09:31.10 In fact, 00:09:31.13\00:09:31.63 when you read 00:09:31.67\00:09:32.73 the history of Israel, do you realize that they were be 00:09:32.77\00:09:35.74 in rebellion for centuries 00:09:35.77\00:09:38.71 before a judgment would be inflicted upon them? 00:09:39.77\00:09:42.51 In fact, sometimes God would actually prosper them 00:09:43.55\00:09:46.01 and grow them 00:09:46.45\00:09:47.65 and protect them even while they were in rebellion against God. 00:09:47.68\00:09:51.09 That's why church you ought not see every success 00:09:52.12\00:09:54.32 as come from Mason that God is pleased with what you're doing. 00:09:55.56\00:09:57.69 See, sometimes God bless you because of do I have a witness 00:09:58.93\00:10:02.20 that sometimes God just blesses you in spite of? 00:10:02.23\00:10:05.23 And see what happens is because God 00:10:06.67\00:10:09.14 has been so slow to get angry 00:10:09.84\00:10:12.34 because he's blessed them in spite 00:10:13.41\00:10:15.44 of their foolishness with judgment comes upon them. 00:10:16.54\00:10:18.95 Then, like Lord, what we did wrong, 00:10:18.98\00:10:21.52 they don't even realize that it is their sins 00:10:21.55\00:10:24.19 and their transgressions that have them in this position. 00:10:25.32\00:10:27.76 They have this developed, this idea that we can sin 00:10:28.89\00:10:31.29 and still indefinitely prosper. 00:10:31.33\00:10:33.73 So they don't even realize what they're up against. 00:10:35.20\00:10:37.07 They don't even understand why they are in this situation 00:10:37.10\00:10:39.90 and see sometimes, like Israel of Old, 00:10:40.80\00:10:42.44 we struggle to see the correlation 00:10:43.27\00:10:45.41 between said habit and set form of chastening. 00:10:46.44\00:10:49.78 We don't even understand 00:10:51.05\00:10:53.01 why things aren't going like God promised. 00:10:53.05\00:10:54.88 They should go so that sometimes we don't see the connection 00:10:54.92\00:10:58.75 between our financial ruin and our robbing of God. 00:10:59.85\00:11:03.19 Sometimes we don't see the connection 00:11:04.79\00:11:06.90 between the family tension 00:11:07.50\00:11:09.06 and the destruction of the family altar. 00:11:10.00\00:11:11.63 We don't even see the correlation between our mammoth 00:11:12.73\00:11:15.50 pride and the destruction of all of our relationships. 00:11:15.54\00:11:19.14 We don't understand why the spirit of the enemy 00:11:20.21\00:11:22.48 has been loosed and our home 00:11:23.14\00:11:24.28 and the husbands and the leaders are not even taking stock 00:11:24.31\00:11:27.18 of the amount of pornography 00:11:27.85\00:11:29.02 and the spirits that are loosed in the house when you do so. 00:11:29.05\00:11:31.85 And what I'm saying is that there are times where we don't 00:11:33.09\00:11:35.02 see the connection between said habit and said result. 00:11:35.06\00:11:39.26 And what happens is like Israel, do you realize that in Israel 00:11:40.50\00:11:43.06 we're for Daniel confessing that this is the people 00:11:44.20\00:11:46.13 don't see anything wrong with their behavior. 00:11:47.07\00:11:49.70 They are questioning the faithfulness of God. 00:11:50.64\00:11:52.31 In other words, they're saying, Lord, where are you at, Lord? 00:11:53.54\00:11:55.78 Why have you forgotten us? 00:11:55.81\00:11:57.18 Lord, why have you turn your back on us? 00:11:57.21\00:11:59.28 And Daniel is trying to help them know 00:12:00.25\00:12:01.52 that God has not forgotten. 00:12:01.55\00:12:03.55 God is still on the strong, God is still faithful. 00:12:04.65\00:12:07.36 But sometimes it requires some chastening 00:12:08.32\00:12:10.66 in order for us to turn around. 00:12:11.66\00:12:14.36 And what I'm going to say is going 00:12:15.20\00:12:15.83 to sound very crazy to you, 00:12:15.86\00:12:17.33 but I'm at a place now where I would rather 00:12:17.37\00:12:19.77 have God's chastening than his indifference. 00:12:19.80\00:12:23.97 Do you realize that if God was indifferent toward Israel, 00:12:26.47\00:12:29.24 all He would do was just remove his hand of protection? 00:12:30.38\00:12:32.51 You realize that the other nations, 00:12:33.31\00:12:34.48 they didn't just want to enslave Israel. 00:12:34.52\00:12:36.62 They wanted to wipe them from the face of the earth. 00:12:36.65\00:12:40.56 And so all God did was when he allowed 00:12:41.46\00:12:43.76 the captivity to take place, he actually put them 00:12:43.79\00:12:46.90 under Babylonian and Chaldean authority. 00:12:47.76\00:12:50.03 So even though they were enslaved to them, 00:12:51.00\00:12:52.67 they were still protected by them from the other lands. 00:12:53.87\00:12:56.77 So I need somebody to know that even your chastening. 00:12:57.91\00:13:00.78 Oh, God is a blessing, 00:13:02.01\00:13:04.58 that even your punishment is for your protection. 00:13:05.68\00:13:09.32 You see, 00:13:09.62\00:13:10.79 if God was indifferent, then God simply removes his hands 00:13:10.82\00:13:13.86 and lets his enemy, the enemies, have their will. 00:13:14.96\00:13:16.69 And what happens is they are no longer a people. 00:13:17.76\00:13:19.89 But how many of us know that chastening as this chastening 00:13:21.10\00:13:22.90 is simply when a good parent allows a lesser form of pain 00:13:22.93\00:13:27.14 to preserve you from a greater form of pain. 00:13:28.14\00:13:30.67 It is where God simply allows an inconvenience 00:13:32.01\00:13:34.84 to touch, to afflict, to disrupt the comforts of life, 00:13:35.94\00:13:39.35 to actually preserve you from greater calamity 00:13:40.38\00:13:43.59 that is destined to come and see. 00:13:43.62\00:13:46.09 I know this kind of hard thing to rejoice on, 00:13:47.09\00:13:48.22 but man, the same way. 00:13:48.26\00:13:49.82 If you had good parents, good parents in this room 00:13:49.86\00:13:52.69 now, now good parents didn't 00:13:53.60\00:13:54.66 just pray for you, but good parents chastened. You 00:13:54.73\00:14:00.10 don't have anybody old enough to remember the days before. 00:14:01.34\00:14:03.71 Time out. 00:14:03.74\00:14:04.74 Come on and say, may anybody remember the days 00:14:04.77\00:14:07.54 before what they call gentle parenting. 00:14:07.58\00:14:09.84 Where because your parents loved you. 00:14:10.68\00:14:13.28 Come on, do I have a witness out there that 00:14:13.31\00:14:15.28 they would stand up and say something you did not believe? 00:14:15.32\00:14:18.45 Where they would say, this is going to hurt me. 00:14:19.52\00:14:22.96 Come on. And it felt like a lot. 00:14:22.99\00:14:24.29 Come on and say 00:14:24.33\00:14:25.43 it's going to hurt me more than it's gonna hurt you. 00:14:25.46\00:14:27.93 And then. 00:14:28.50\00:14:29.40 And I didn't realize that punishing kids 00:14:29.43\00:14:32.00 takes so much out of the parents. 00:14:32.83\00:14:34.37 That's why your mama would make you get your own switch. 00:14:35.50\00:14:37.71 Now, y'all not hear me today? 00:14:37.74\00:14:39.51 She said you have the energy to do it. 00:14:39.54\00:14:41.54 And it's crazy 00:14:41.58\00:14:42.81 because, man, in that moment, the taste thing was not good. 00:14:42.84\00:14:46.35 It felt unnecessary. 00:14:46.88\00:14:48.48 But when you look at your own life 00:14:48.52\00:14:50.55 and some of your friends life and how it played out, 00:14:51.69\00:14:54.16 you look back on your life and you say, I thank God 00:14:55.26\00:14:57.26 for parents that chastened me and punish me 00:14:57.29\00:15:00.96 and dealt with me and got in the way of my ideals 00:15:02.00\00:15:05.93 and my hopes and what I need somebody to know that chastening 00:15:05.97\00:15:09.97 is simply proof that God is still working on you 00:15:10.97\00:15:14.11 and dealing with you and sanctifying you. 00:15:15.04\00:15:18.05 Because if God didn't care, He would simply stand back 00:15:19.21\00:15:23.75 and let the devil have his way in your life. 00:15:24.75\00:15:27.42 But I am grateful that I have a God. 00:15:28.29\00:15:29.69 In fact, the Bible says him the Lord loves. 00:15:29.72\00:15:33.90 He chases that. 00:15:34.83\00:15:36.83 That's the one that he treats as a son. 00:15:36.87\00:15:38.80 I remember like one time we had the swimming pool 00:15:38.83\00:15:40.90 and you know, 00:15:41.34\00:15:42.44 the kids were running around right there on the edge 00:15:42.47\00:15:43.61 and my daughter was there and I had to pull her aside 00:15:43.64\00:15:45.51 and had to let her know, this isn't right, 00:15:46.41\00:15:47.14 this is very dangerous. 00:15:47.18\00:15:48.34 And there was a lady kind of watching this interaction, 00:15:48.38\00:15:50.35 and she said, that must be your daughter right there. 00:15:51.48\00:15:53.21 And she say, It's me. 00:15:53.78\00:15:54.95 I said, Well, can you tell that she looks that much like me? 00:15:54.98\00:15:57.05 She was like, No, I can tell the one that's your daughter, 00:15:58.29\00:16:00.42 because your chastening is the proof of your concern 00:16:01.56\00:16:03.66 and say, I need somebody to know that God loves you too much. 00:16:05.29\00:16:09.56 Oh, God, 00:16:10.77\00:16:12.23 to let you be lost without a fight. 00:16:13.07\00:16:15.10 He loves you too much to let you keep straying 00:16:16.37\00:16:19.27 without stepping in the way he loves you too much. 00:16:19.31\00:16:22.18 To keep letting you go down a certain path 00:16:22.21\00:16:24.28 without any intervention. 00:16:24.31\00:16:25.88 And see this thing, I need you to understand 00:16:25.91\00:16:27.52 about chastening that sometimes chastening 00:16:27.55\00:16:29.68 is not even God always just sending a punishment. 00:16:30.75\00:16:32.75 It's not God always sending a curse. 00:16:33.56\00:16:35.02 Sometimes chastening is simply God allowing us to experience 00:16:35.06\00:16:38.69 the natural counsel clients of certain actions. 00:16:39.76\00:16:43.37 And do you realize that God is so good that even that 00:16:44.53\00:16:47.24 none of us even get the full consequence 00:16:47.27\00:16:50.04 of our actions? 00:16:51.87\00:16:53.71 Do you realize that Ellen White says that God is so faithful 00:16:53.74\00:16:56.34 that even when our consequence should be this great, 00:16:57.48\00:16:59.28 that God steps in before the consequence touches you, 00:17:00.48\00:17:03.39 he reshape his head, and he cautions it so 00:17:04.35\00:17:07.22 that by the time it touches you, it doesn't destroy you. 00:17:07.26\00:17:11.49 It actually blesses and it helps you out. 00:17:12.46\00:17:15.10 Are you hear me today, friends? 00:17:16.46\00:17:19.53 That's the thing this teaches them by passing. 00:17:19.57\00:17:21.54 One of the points is this is that it's teaching that 00:17:21.57\00:17:24.84 some prayers are actually overdue. 00:17:24.87\00:17:30.78 Some prayers are actually overdue. 00:17:30.81\00:17:33.31 Okay. Y'all are going to be funny. 00:17:33.35\00:17:34.85 Verse 30, The Bible says, As it is written 00:17:34.88\00:17:38.22 in the law of Moses, all this disaster has come upon us. 00:17:38.25\00:17:44.76 Watch this. 00:17:45.16\00:17:45.99 They've been in Babylon 69. 00:17:46.03\00:17:48.00 Are y'all here in this church? 00:17:48.03\00:17:49.70 They've been there 69 years. 00:17:49.73\00:17:51.47 All this disaster has come upon us. 00:17:51.50\00:17:54.30 And yet we have not made our prayer before. 00:17:55.24\00:17:59.44 The Lord, our God. 00:17:59.47\00:18:03.18 Okay, God. 00:18:03.68\00:18:05.51 They've been in calamity for 69 years, 00:18:05.55\00:18:09.42 and there hadn't been one prayer meeting. 00:18:10.29\00:18:12.69 There hadn't been one assembly. 00:18:14.19\00:18:16.22 There hadn't been one time where they said, 00:18:17.19\00:18:20.13 the elders of the church let us come together 00:18:21.03\00:18:23.06 and call upon the name of the Lord. 00:18:23.90\00:18:27.24 In other words, the rebuke of the prayer. 00:18:28.20\00:18:29.84 If Daniel is saying 00:18:30.37\00:18:31.51 we should have been praying like this a long time ago 00:18:31.54\00:18:35.28 and this is the faith 00:18:36.78\00:18:38.41 and this is my challenge to the body of Christ, I promise 00:18:38.45\00:18:40.88 I'm not going to be here before you much longer today. 00:18:40.92\00:18:42.68 I need somebody to understand that there are certain prayers 00:18:42.72\00:18:46.05 that are simply overdue and being prayed. 00:18:46.96\00:18:51.63 There is somebody that's dealing with sickness today. 00:18:51.66\00:18:54.86 You go to the doctor, you go to the pharmacy. 00:18:55.83\00:18:58.50 Nothing wrong with that. 00:18:59.07\00:19:00.24 But the only problem is that you've never gotten between 00:19:00.27\00:19:03.34 the porch and the altar and offered up the prayer 00:19:03.37\00:19:07.38 of faith and said, Lord, I need you. 00:19:07.41\00:19:11.05 Oh, God, 00:19:11.75\00:19:12.81 I need you to bring healing to my life. 00:19:14.12\00:19:17.05 There is somebody that is struggling 00:19:17.92\00:19:19.79 with a miscarriage and infertility, 00:19:19.82\00:19:21.86 and you go on to see the specialist 00:19:21.89\00:19:23.73 and you've gone to see the doctors. 00:19:23.76\00:19:25.43 No problem with that. 00:19:25.46\00:19:26.66 But you've done everything except 00:19:26.70\00:19:28.36 what like Hannah did to go before God 00:19:28.40\00:19:30.97 and the altar and call upon the name of the Lord. 00:19:32.03\00:19:34.54 That was somebody that's in financial trouble. 00:19:35.57\00:19:36.91 You didn't borrowed it from your friends. 00:19:37.84\00:19:38.81 You didn't tried to get it from your cousin. 00:19:38.84\00:19:40.58 You tried to get the payday loan, but you called upon 00:19:40.61\00:19:43.45 everybody except the God that supplies all of your needs 00:19:43.48\00:19:47.15 according to His riches and glory. 00:19:47.92\00:19:49.28 There are some of us that are dealing with enemies 00:19:49.32\00:19:51.42 that are more and more much more of than our allies. 00:19:51.45\00:19:55.02 And guess what? We get even. 00:19:55.69\00:19:56.76 We talk bad about them. 00:19:56.79\00:19:58.26 We tell everybody about our enemies except God. 00:19:58.29\00:20:04.50 And so that's why the Bible in Philippians 00:20:04.53\00:20:06.47 form, verse six says, Be anxious for nothing but pray 00:20:06.50\00:20:10.74 about all things and see there's a very simple formula 00:20:10.77\00:20:14.44 that the more I pray, the less anxious I am, so that 00:20:15.58\00:20:19.35 if I pray about everything, I'll be anxious about nothing. 00:20:19.38\00:20:23.75 But if I pray about nothing, 00:20:24.42\00:20:25.92 I'm going to be anxious about everything. 00:20:25.95\00:20:28.42 And see, this is the word somebody. 00:20:30.43\00:20:31.66 Today. I need you to know, because 00:20:31.69\00:20:33.83 there are certain Bible promises. 00:20:33.86\00:20:35.53 They seem so fluffy 00:20:35.56\00:20:37.37 and so ethereal that we hadn't even tried it in the Bible. 00:20:37.40\00:20:41.24 Say Saints, be anxious about. 00:20:41.27\00:20:45.97 You know, it means search. 00:20:46.01\00:20:47.41 It means that being anxious is optional. 00:20:47.44\00:20:54.62 And I need somebody to understand this with clarity 00:20:54.65\00:20:56.99 that when you call upon the name of the Lord, 00:20:57.95\00:20:59.55 see, prayer doesn't just change things. 00:21:00.56\00:21:02.32 Prayer changes your disposition. 00:21:03.02\00:21:05.06 So you see the promise of God is this that when I pray 00:21:05.09\00:21:07.60 about all things, that the peace of God, which passes 00:21:07.66\00:21:11.53 all understanding, is going to guard your heart 00:21:11.57\00:21:15.10 and your mind through Christ Jesus. 00:21:15.97\00:21:17.57 And what I'm saying to somebody who's stressed out 00:21:18.61\00:21:19.97 and anxious and overwhelmed and you can't sleep at night, 00:21:21.21\00:21:23.61 I bet you almost all the money I have 00:21:24.48\00:21:26.75 is that the thing you worry about the most is the thing 00:21:27.95\00:21:29.95 you pray about the least, because I can't pray about it 00:21:29.98\00:21:34.32 and be worried about it at the same time. 00:21:35.22\00:21:36.93 Because the direct result of me calling upon the Lord 00:21:38.03\00:21:40.56 is that before the situation changes, 00:21:41.40\00:21:43.10 before the Bill is paid, before the child comes back to church, 00:21:44.37\00:21:47.40 I get peace in the presence 00:21:48.07\00:21:50.24 that helps 00:21:51.21\00:21:52.17 me know that before it's all right outside of me. 00:21:52.21\00:21:55.58 Yes. What? 00:21:55.94\00:21:56.68 It can be all right inside of me. 00:21:56.71\00:21:58.88 And see, this is why I share all the time. 00:21:59.85\00:22:01.75 I need you to know 00:22:01.78\00:22:02.98 that prayer and peace plate pray on the sea salt together 00:22:03.02\00:22:05.92 ya'll remember the old playground taught a seesaw 00:22:06.99\00:22:09.82 where when you mess down on one side 00:22:10.69\00:22:11.96 it raises somebody up 00:22:11.99\00:22:13.40 and when you mess 00:22:13.43\00:22:14.50 down on the other side, you raise the other partner up. 00:22:14.56\00:22:16.13 And I need you to know, the further 00:22:16.16\00:22:17.67 you go down in prayer, the more you raise your peace. 00:22:17.70\00:22:21.87 The deeper you go down on your knees, 00:22:22.74\00:22:24.54 the higher your peace and tranquility is going to be. 00:22:25.64\00:22:27.81 But the more you stand up off your knees, 00:22:28.78\00:22:30.81 the lower your peace is going to come. 00:22:31.71\00:22:33.48 And so you've got to stay in a prayerful posture 00:22:34.55\00:22:37.32 if you want to maintain a sole peace and tranquility. 00:22:38.49\00:22:40.76 See, there are some of us that had this idea 00:22:42.12\00:22:44.49 that says, I'm going to try to manage it 00:22:44.53\00:22:47.30 and I'll only pray when it starts falling apart. 00:22:48.33\00:22:50.90 Why? If we don't call upon God when it falls apart, 00:22:52.70\00:22:56.30 why not call upon God before it falls apart? 00:22:57.31\00:23:00.41 Why not call upon God first? 00:23:00.44\00:23:02.44 It's kind of like this. 00:23:03.01\00:23:03.78 I don't know if you guys remember 00:23:03.81\00:23:04.45 old school video Pac-Man 00:23:04.48\00:23:05.88 or how many witnesses in the eighties back in the day. 00:23:05.91\00:23:08.45 And you remember the game, Pacman like in you know, in 00:23:08.48\00:23:11.35 each frame you be chased by these spirits are these ghosts. 00:23:12.55\00:23:14.36 But in the corners, you would have these little power pellets 00:23:15.59\00:23:17.03 in his power corners. 00:23:17.59\00:23:18.39 And in the four corners of the frame. 00:23:18.43\00:23:19.83 And see, 00:23:19.86\00:23:20.63 that was one flaw in my game, Jackie, 00:23:20.66\00:23:22.43 when I would try to play the game. 00:23:23.26\00:23:24.10 One of the mistakes I would make is 00:23:24.13\00:23:25.47 I was asked to try to complete the frame on my own 00:23:25.50\00:23:28.37 and I would only go to the power corner when I got in trouble, 00:23:29.60\00:23:32.01 and that would work on the first couple of levels. 00:23:33.11\00:23:34.64 But once you get to the higher levels, guess what? 00:23:35.74\00:23:37.18 The spirits moved with more speed 00:23:37.21\00:23:39.18 and distinctiveness, 00:23:39.21\00:23:40.55 and I didn't realize that the game was set up 00:23:40.58\00:23:42.68 in such a way 00:23:42.72\00:23:43.85 that you couldn't just wait till you got into trouble 00:23:43.89\00:23:46.05 to go into the power corner. 00:23:46.72\00:23:48.02 You had to go into the power corner 00:23:48.06\00:23:49.96 first in order to reach the next level. 00:23:49.99\00:23:52.49 And what I'm saying to somebody today 00:23:53.33\00:23:54.46 is self sufficiency may work on the first level of faith. 00:23:54.50\00:23:58.20 You can wait till you get in trouble 00:23:58.23\00:24:00.24 to go to your prayer closet on one level. 00:24:00.27\00:24:02.54 But when you get to the next level, guess what? 00:24:03.61\00:24:04.97 These doubles move with more speed and more aggressive scent 00:24:05.01\00:24:08.61 and more intensity, 00:24:09.14\00:24:10.15 and you can't wait 00:24:10.18\00:24:11.28 till you get in trouble to go to your prayer corner. 00:24:11.31\00:24:13.68 You got to go to your prayer corner first 00:24:14.62\00:24:17.19 before you make it the rest of the way. 00:24:18.09\00:24:19.62 Are you hear me today, saints? 00:24:19.65\00:24:21.82 But then I need you to get it. 00:24:21.86\00:24:22.99 As I'm closing, I'm done. 00:24:23.02\00:24:24.66 The word sends to us here in verse number 18, 00:24:24.69\00:24:28.70 I would say is, Oh, my God, incline your ear in here, 00:24:28.73\00:24:31.13 open your eyes and see our desolation 00:24:32.00\00:24:33.80 and the city which is called by your name, 00:24:34.77\00:24:36.30 for we do not present our supplication sins before you 00:24:36.34\00:24:39.17 because of what our righteous deeds, but 00:24:40.04\00:24:44.61 because of your great mercies. 00:24:44.65\00:24:49.75 And it's amazing because it sits in what Daniel is saying. 00:24:50.92\00:24:53.29 He's saying we don't have no standing. 00:24:54.19\00:24:56.29 We don't have a leg to be able to stand on. 00:24:57.39\00:25:00.36 We have no reason and nothing within our behavior 00:25:01.36\00:25:04.70 that would suggest 00:25:05.20\00:25:06.20 that we are worthy of receiving anything from you. 00:25:06.23\00:25:08.84 So you know what he says? 00:25:09.47\00:25:10.67 He says, we don't come to you with a list of what we've done. 00:25:10.71\00:25:13.17 Right. 00:25:13.21\00:25:14.24 We don't come and lay out our spiritual resumé. 00:25:14.28\00:25:16.31 We don't come and say 00:25:16.88\00:25:17.71 these are the reasons and the causes 00:25:17.75\00:25:19.78 that we deserve, your blessings. 00:25:20.48\00:25:21.68 But he says, we're going to come to you solely and exclusively 00:25:21.72\00:25:25.22 in the context of your mercies toward us. 00:25:26.15\00:25:28.79 And see, I'm saying this on behalf 00:25:29.62\00:25:30.83 of somebody who feels like I'm not righteous enough to pray 00:25:30.86\00:25:33.73 and I'm not good enough to pray and I'm not done enough 00:25:34.83\00:25:37.07 in order to receive the blessings and favor of God, 00:25:38.13\00:25:39.87 I need you to know that when you go before God, don't go 00:25:41.00\00:25:42.84 before God with a list of your spiritual good works. 00:25:42.87\00:25:45.84 Our deeds 00:25:45.87\00:25:46.61 don't come before 00:25:46.64\00:25:47.51 God with your spiritual resumé in hand, 00:25:47.54\00:25:49.68 because whenever we come before God, 00:25:50.48\00:25:52.21 we come as empty pictures before a full fountain 00:25:53.28\00:25:56.15 having nothing to offer, having nothing to bring, 00:25:57.15\00:25:59.82 but completely dependent upon the full range of God's mercy 00:26:01.16\00:26:05.66 and His grace. 00:26:06.66\00:26:08.96 Hello, I'm Pastor 00:26:09.00\00:26:10.97 Snell, speaker director for The Breath of Life 00:26:11.00\00:26:13.47 Television Ministry. 00:26:13.50\00:26:14.90 This ministry was established to take the gospel of Jesus 00:26:14.94\00:26:18.44 Christ throughout North America and across the globe. 00:26:18.47\00:26:22.21 My goal is to make Jesus Christ 00:26:22.91\00:26:25.55 known through the preaching of the word. 00:26:25.58\00:26:28.25 I need you to know that we need your financial partnership 00:26:29.42\00:26:31.95 in order to make sure that the Gospel can go into every hill, 00:26:33.22\00:26:36.89 into every rural county, and into every inner city. 00:26:37.99\00:26:40.56 And we can only take the gospel as far as the gifts 00:26:41.60\00:26:44.80 that you lend to us. 00:26:44.83\00:26:46.53 We thank you for your financial partnership in the past, 00:26:46.57\00:26:49.90 and I'm asking 00:26:50.34\00:26:51.47 that you will continue to be a financial partner 00:26:51.51\00:26:54.21 with this ministry going forward. 00:26:55.01\00:26:56.54 Here are some ways you can give. 00:26:56.58\00:26:59.08 You can give online at our website 00:26:59.11\00:27:01.32 at www.breathoflife.tv 00:27:01.88\00:27:04.05 You can send your gift by mail to breath of Life. 00:27:05.12\00:27:07.12 P.O.
