spends his days in a wine press

and there is something
about this conversation

that is very
triggering to get in

when God says, I'm with you.

It touches a nerve of
faith that has been inactive

in Gideon's life
for quite some time.

It's crazy because when God
says that he is with Gideon,

you would think, David, that
this would be good news, that

he would smile and
have a sense of comfort

and assurance
that God is with him.

But I need you to see this

in your mind's eye that
when God says I am with you

for whatever reason, Gideon,
his whole countenance begins

to change.

His entire
energy begins to shift.

This very humble and
docile man begins to act

in a way that is not consistent

with the rest
of his life trends.

I can see your boy Gideon, when
the Lord says I am with you.

All of a sudden His
hands begin to tremble.

All of a sudden, his
voice begins to elevate.

his wife, his voice
begins to get a little loud.

Gideon does not respond in
a positive or pristine way.

He begins to really

give an eruption of soul,
where he literally begins to

say, Well, if God is with
us, where are all his miracles?

that our
forefathers told us about?

why isn't He doing for us?

What He did for
them at the Red Sea?

And it's crazy
because if you were to

look at Gideon, all of a
sudden his palms are sweaty,

disheveled, his hair is matted,

broken, and there is an anger

in his voice.

And notice what God says when
he sees Gideon's frustration

as Gideon

is ranting and raving and mad.

God says that right there.

He says, You see that?

I want you to go in that night

right there, or you'll miss it.

In other words, he
don't tell Gideon, calm down.

He don't say, get
yourself together.

He don't say go and
take a nap and come back.

He says while your

strength right there.

is expressed frustration.

figure out what might

is he talking about, what
strength is he referencing?

And what I've come to know

is that Gideon Smite
is not in his muscles.

It is not in his weapons, but
his might is in his frustration

of us know that sometimes

use a frustrated person.

how to frame our frustration.

know that your frustration is

actually the strength to
change what's happening in you,

happening around you.

until there's some frustration

that is pushing us
where information can get us.

I mean, because we

have information about health,
come on and say, man, we know

we shouldn't be eating
sweets and staying up late.

And and we know the
nutritional deficits

caused by drinking our
smoking and our coffee.

But it is not until
the doctor says high blood

pressure or diabetes or
you can't buckle up your pants.

Come on and say, man,
you accept that dress up.

Come on, you got
to be frustrated.

I mean I mean, we know what
we should be doing in marriage.

We read the book,
and then at home you've

read the five love languages.

But it's not until there

is emotional frustration
or marital frustration

or sexual frustration

that we decide that we
better go ahead and deal

with some things
we know, information

that we ought
to be in the world,

that we ought to be on our face.

But sometimes it is not until
the Lord allows circumstance

to touch our lives that
we get real and stop playing

calling on the name of the Lord.

So that information is the seed,

but frustration
is the fertilizer.

See, some of us, as Tony
Robbins says, we won't change

until the discomfort of change

is less than the discomfort
of remaining the same seed.

Some of us won't change

until it hurts so

That sometimes frustration is an

usher that directs
us to the power of God.

When you pray
for things to change

before they get
better, they get worse.

And what God was doing
was assigning the frustration

that would be the catalyst
to make the change permanent.

So you thought, man,
you were praying for things

get easier and
better and more calm.
00:09:30.43\00:09:32.50
But how many of us
know that sometimes

frustration is the
answer to your prayers?

So even when we
look at certain people

that we think are so
motivated and self-driven

and they got so much dry weight,
you think they get that from,

you know, motivation
is motivation is simply

when you give your
frustration a task,

it is simply when you give
your frustration an assignment.

See, some of us give
our frustration a voice,

but we never give
it anything to do.

So it's not

until you just get completely
frustrated about your work

that you actually sign
up to go back to school

or consider entrepreneurship.

It is not until you get really
frustrated in your marriage

that you decide.

Let us go ahead and see somebody

before things
continue to get worse.

It's not until you get really
frustrated about your health

Sometimes it's not
until you get so frustrated

happening at church.

That frustration aims you
in the direction of ministry

participation and said, I
need you to know that whenever

there is frustration
combined with inactivity,

it just means you
ain't frustrated enough.

It means God

is saying, I got to put
some more wood on the fire.

I've got to turn up the heat.

I've got to create
some more discomfort

because as long
as you can manage it,

as long as you can handle it,
as long as you can sit with it,

endure it, you won't change it

And conditions of comfort,

without some irritation.

anybody that's at a place

You know,

you know, one of the problems
in Israel at this point toyou

one of the problems is that
we look at Gideon like crazy,

like he ain't got no
faith because he's questioning
00:11:45.77\00:11:47.64
whether or not God has with him.
00:11:47.67\00:11:49.04
But I need you to
realize the problem

is, is not that Gideon is mad.
00:11:52.41\00:11:55.11
The problem is that
he's the only one mad.

See, we've
00:12:05.15\00:12:06.19
wrongly framed Gideon
as just a complete coward.
00:12:06.22\00:12:10.43
But that's not who Gideon is.
00:12:11.13\00:12:13.13
Do you realize the Bible
says that the rest of Israel,
00:12:13.16\00:12:15.63
they were content to
hang out in the caves
00:12:16.53\00:12:18.07
and in the catacombs and in
the corners of the mountains.
00:12:19.20\00:12:21.44
And they
00:12:21.74\00:12:22.94
literally just stayed there
until the media knights left.
00:12:22.97\00:12:25.57
And once Midian was gone,
they would just go out and get
00:12:26.78\00:12:30.05
the scraps or the leftovers
that Midian didn't eat.

But the Gideon has a
bit more courage in that.

You see, the reason Gideon
is hiding in the wine press

is because the
knights are still around.

In other words,
Gideon is saying,

I'm not content to just
sit there and watch them eat.

So Gideon steps
out and risk his life

going into the wine
press, because Gideon says

even if the media knights
are eating, I got it, too.

Are y'all catching this thing?

Church. And he's mad.

And so you want to
know why getting this man.

The reason he goes
on this rant about men.

Where are our miracles?

Why has God forsaken us?

Why have all
these things happen?

Why has not God
bless our people?

And the reason he's so upset is

because he had an expectation

that things would be different.

seeing it one way,

but he expected it to
happen a different way.

And see, we think
Gideon had no faith.

No, his issue is
not a lack of faith.

The issue is that
he has bruised faith.

faith looks like this.

It's when you get your
hopes and your beliefs up.

your physical eyes,

watching somebody else eat

Can I tell you quickly what to
do when your faith gets bruised?

this face right now.

And the problem is
when you create a script

the script of your own making.

And sometimes

the script is not God

some of us that get disappointed

too much time in assessment

about where you are currently
because how many of us know that

path doesn't always

reflect your destination?

You know, God,

I need somebody
to hear this vision.

They're extremists.

I need you to be
clear that sometimes

the path you are on

does not reveal the
destination where you will

sometimes will get off the path

because it does not mirror
our perceived death destination.

is He'll show you the end.

But He doesn't show you
everything in the mirror.

Think about Joseph.

visions and dreams of rulership.

God literally
had put in his mind

a vision of the sun, moon
and stars bowing down to him.
00:17:32.31\00:17:35.22
He had a dream of rulership.
00:17:35.88\00:17:37.65
Rulership was the destination.
00:17:38.35\00:17:39.82
But how many of
us know that his path
00:17:40.66\00:17:41.99
did not reflect his destination?
00:17:44.39\00:17:46.83
So God shows him the palace.
00:17:47.50\00:17:49.30
But He doesn't show him the pit.
00:17:50.00\00:17:51.60
He doesn't show him part of her.
00:17:51.63\00:17:53.50
He doesn't show him the prison.

He doesn't show him
everything in between.

And so if he focuses
on the path, guess what?

He misses the destination.

Well, think about my man, David.

David is anointed to be king
when he's about 15 years old.

But how many of
us know that after

he is anointed to be king,
there is very little in the path
