that you had a praying grandma,

there were weapons

that were formed
that never got to prosper

because somebody
was talking the job

Because Mary, what she
did, what she stood in the gap,

she interceded
on behalf of those

that did not even
recognize that was a need.

And it was her petitions

for these young people
that bless their household.

When I want to say quickly

to some of our seniors

is to make sure that
no matter how it looks,

no matter how they act up,
never give up your petition

when I look at this, that

sense of urgency here.

If Jesus does no
miracle, guess what, man?

I'm beginning to wonder, like,

why is it, man, that
Jesus feels so impressed

to do his first miracle
by turning water into wine?

know what the miracle is

and what it is not.

The miracle is not that
he turned water into wine.

what the disaster is.

You see, I understand
that a wedding was a time

where your social status
would be placed on display.

If no one doubts

suffers is their reputation.

Some just have a good reputation

kept your reputation

He says, I don't even know why
you bringing this matter to me.

time is not yet come.

Now notice what Mary
then turns around and does.

says to the servants, Do

whatever he asks you to do.

because the way she reacts

is not congruent
with the answer he gave.

In other words,

to stand in a phase of obedience

reasons she acted in the way

she did, where she was
convinced by his consistency.

She talks about how
Jesus as a child talks about he

how he had willing hands
that were ever ready to serve.

situation like he found it.

In other words,
there was a consistency

about Christ that let her know

he would never leave a situation

the way he found it.

It was her history with him

that anchored her in
the moment of great lack.

even as Jesus, as a child

from a babe up to the age
of about 30, whenever Jesus saw

a sparrow with a broken
wing, he didn't just walk by.

He picked it up
and he helped it.

When Jesus saw you carrying
a heavy burden down the road,

he didn't just go
on about his business,

but he put his
shoulder up under the burden

and help you get where
he is that you needed to go.

When Jesus was a child

and saw an elderly person

carrying something

heavy across the
street, he would stop

whatever it was
that he was doing

and he would help you get
that burden across the street.

In other words, she
noticed something about her

baby boy is that he was
so consistent in his help.

He was so
consistent in helping others.

He never left a
situation like he found it.

And it was his consistency

that gave her courage

to know that he would act, even
in the light of his response.

How many of us know

that Christ has been
consistent in your life?

In other words, he
hadn't just come through

seven out of ten times.

But for me, he's come through
ten times out of ten times,

and he didn't
always come when I want it.

But he's always there right on

time.

And see, friends of
mine, one of the things I need,

one of the things
that will anchor you in

the present

is if you keep a record of how
God has blessed you in the past.

You see, one of the reasons
we don't have any faith for

this moment is because
we've got spiritual amnesia.

We have forgetfulness about the
blessings and miracles of God.

And as some of you heard
me say in it, crazy how we
00:08:44.32\00:08:46.15
remember our curses
00:08:46.19\00:08:49.32
more than we
remember our blessings.
00:08:49.36\00:08:52.16
Somebody does
something wrong to you.

You remember it for 50 years.
00:08:53.80\00:08:56.60
God pays the bill.
00:08:56.63\00:08:57.80
You act like he ain't never done
nothing in your life before.

And what I'm saying to

somebody today is that if you
look at the consistency of God

and the faithfulness of God,

that if you look
back on your history,

you will have strength
to face a difficult destiny.

This man I remember
one time I was on a flight

and on this
particular flight, Malcolm, it

began to get a little turbulent.
00:09:18.05\00:09:19.52
We began to have
drops in the flight.
00:09:19.55\00:09:21.29
And I'll be honest with you, I'm
00:09:21.32\00:09:22.26
not one of those folk
that's a nervous flier.

I don't even really get
scared because of turbulence.
00:09:24.09\00:09:26.19
But on this day, it
was dropping hard, man.

The little luggage racks
were starting to come open.

And one of the things I do

when I see
turbulence that bad is

I just look at the flight
attendants to see how they move.

And in that situation.

And so I remember
this particular day,

I was sitting near the exit
row and the flight attendant
00:09:39.44\00:09:41.68
was sitting
right across from me.

And it's funny,
because we're in this storm

that drops and the
plane is shifting and moving
00:09:44.95\00:09:47.48
and the flight attendant
00:09:48.05\00:09:48.98
right in front of me,
she don't even look up.
00:09:49.02\00:09:50.45
She's playing
games on her phone.
00:09:50.49\00:09:52.49
She's playing with her hair.
00:09:53.15\00:09:54.16
She's acting like
nothing and going on.
00:09:54.19\00:09:56.29
And so when we get
down to the floor, Dave,

I ask her the question.

I say, I know you
got to play it cool

for the customers on the flight,
but when it gets this bad,

you've got to get a
little bit nervous, don't you?

As she said, without a hit,
she says, I would get a little

nervous normally.

But she says, I've
been flying with this one

pilot so long, and
because I've seen him

bring gas through worse, I
don't get nervous and stones.

Has anybody

been flying with Jesus so long

that you don't

get nervous in the storm?

Because you've seen him

bring you through worse?

I hear me today, friends.

So. So.

So Jesus tells them,
they say, feel the water.

But the water
pops up to the brim.

And notice that the
Bible says that they feel

the water pots all
the way up to the top.
00:10:57.35\00:10:58.42

One of the things that teaches
us is that man partial obedience

will lead to partial blessings.

Are you going to
cancel me? In a minute,

but I'm going to stand here
on the strength of the Lord.

So if they only feel the parts,

a third of the way up,

they only get a
third of the one.

If they only for
the half of the way up,

they only get half of the why.

What I need somebody to
understand about obedience

is that you cannot
have an obedience deficit

and operate in
spiritual overflow.

The problem is we
have used grace as a reason

to not obey what it is
that God has told us to do

and say, I need us to understand
this fundamental truth.

The reason

the issue is that

how many of us realize

certain covenant
blessings that God has made

are certain covenant
promises that He's made.

They are conditional.

They are conditioned upon
you operating in obedience

with the covenant
that God has made.

And so what I'm saying to
us is that if we're not going

to obey the condition, why
are you running around here

trying to claim the promise?

Oh, all quiet now.

Doesn't the words
say, bring ye all the time?

And we are going
to look at because

no, it doesn't say Bring stop.

No, don't look at your phone.

It doesn't say bring most.

It says bring you all
the time into the storehouse.

And he says, if you do it, I
open up the windows of heaven

and pour out such a blessing

that you don't have
room enough to receive it.

He has shown us in his word, how
we are to care for our bodies

qualifies you for the miracle.

Obedience is simply what
authenticates your faith.

us, faith is just theology.

It is just mental

my oldest son, he was a baby.

He wanted to kind of
help wash the dishes.

And so I told
him to run the water

and get the
sink full of bubbles.
00:14:26.59\00:14:28.00
And and so he made a mistake.

What he did

was he filled the
sink halfway up with water

and then let
the water sit still.

Then he put the
dishwashing liquid in it,

and then he

was like, Daddy, we
ain't got no bubbles.

And the reason
we have no bubbles

is he let the water sit still
before he put the bubbles in

and when you let the
bubbles pour in, steal water,

it's just going lie dormant
and it's not going to bubble.

And so I said, Son, you
got to pour and store the water

so that you engage the
bubbles so that it bubbles

understand, faith ain't nothing

But obedience is
what stirs your faith.

Our obedience is
what makes it bubble.

Obedience is what makes it flow.

And if you never obey,
it's just going to sit there

and nothing's going to
ever grow or develop from it.

so critical for her

that she ministers
that she intercedes

and makes sure

that this young woman receives
the wedding of her dreams?

And it shows us something
very powerful about ministry

to the most powerful
ministry is not necessarily

when I just
volunteer for a task,

but when I'm minister
out of my own experience.

What do you mean, Pastor?

Because this woman, this

young girl, she's
about to be embarrassed,

cheap, not to be ashamed.

Do y'all realize this young girl
runs out of wine that they're

going to be talking about
her wedding 40 years from now?

Come on, y'all
know how y'all this

y'all know how we all come
on and same in like a night.

She won't be known as
his wife I as her profession.

She'll be known forever

out of wine at her wedding.

In other words, it's
going to be filled with scandal.
