Sermon #S046 - Something Within Me (Part 2) 00:00:05.80\00:00:19.65 Welcome to the Breath of Life Television Ministries broadcast with Pastor Debleaire Snell! 00:00:19.68\00:00:25.65 In today's episode, Pastor Snell will continue part two of the powerful Message titled: 00:00:25.69\00:00:32.16 “Something Within Me” Now, let's go deeper into the word of God! 00:00:32.19\00:00:39.73 Pastor Snell: And can I suggest church that in our church, both within the church and the body 00:00:39.77\00:00:43.81 of Christ, we spend too much time rapping about and preaching about and singing about haters. 00:00:43.84\00:00:48.98 We spend an inordinate amount of time talking about those who stand in opposition against us. 00:00:49.01\00:00:54.88 But I need somebody to understand that when you spend all of your time focusing on 00:00:54.92\00:00:59.32 haters and acknowledging haters by focusing on them, all you do is make them important. 00:00:59.35\00:01:06.53 Because at the end of the day, friends, they're going to always be small, petty, insignificant 00:01:06.56\00:01:13.37 people that because they ain't got nothing going on in their world, they're going to seek to 00:01:13.40\00:01:20.28 destroy yours. And what I want to say real quick, hear me on this, is don't spend so much 00:01:20.31\00:01:27.05 time focusing on the vessel. Focus on the spirit inside of it. Don't spend so much time 00:01:27.08\00:01:38.26 focusing on the vehicle that you don't see who's driving it. See, that's why Ephesians six says 00:01:38.29\00:01:45.80 that we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers 00:01:45.83\00:01:52.31 against spiritual wickedness and high places. Here is the point for somebody, I need you to know 00:01:52.34\00:02:00.35 flesh is never your enemy. Flesh is never your antithesis. Your coworker is not your problem. 00:02:00.38\00:02:05.79 That coworker is just Satan's avatar. Okay. No, that human enemy is just Satan's costume. 00:02:05.82\00:02:12.09 You all not hearing me. No, that's just who the devil is putting on so you can't see who 00:02:12.13\00:02:19.53 the battle is up again. Are you all hear what I'm saying? And what I'm saying is you got to 00:02:19.57\00:02:23.87 stop battling the costume and you got to fight the one wearing. Are you all hearing 00:02:23.91\00:02:29.41 what I'm saying? Listen, I remember my son was a little younger, he had a little 00:02:29.44\00:02:32.78 Superman outfit and he would put it on and come try to wrestle me because he was pretending to be 00:02:32.81\00:02:36.99 Superman. Now because I know who's wearing the costume, I don't go looking for no 00:02:37.02\00:02:45.43 kryptonite. In other words, because I know who I'm fighting against. And see friends of 00:02:45.46\00:02:54.64 mine, this is why I'm generally against you jumping ship because people get on your nerves. 00:02:54.67\00:03:06.85 That's why you can't switch jobs every time somebody don't like 00:03:06.88\00:03:11.92 you because all Satan is going to do is find another avatar at your new job to stand up against 00:03:11.95\00:03:18.09 you. Are you all hearing what I'm saying? That's why you can't hop out of churches every time 00:03:18.13\00:03:23.06 somebody offends you because he's going to find another unconsecrated unguarded soul at 00:03:23.10\00:03:30.04 your new church to keep you exactly where you are. It's why you can't switch ministries 00:03:30.07\00:03:36.54 every time you get bothered because in the new ministry, the saint, so you worried about the 00:03:36.58\00:03:43.22 vessel and the vehicle, it's the spirit that goes everywhere that you go. So Daniel does not 00:03:43.25\00:03:57.97 respond to haters, he just begins praying. While they're hating, he's praying. And I need 00:03:58.00\00:04:03.07 you to know that when you spend so much time announcing and acknowledging haters, it's an 00:04:03.10\00:04:08.38 announcement that you are not somewhere praying like you ought to be. In other words, you can't 00:04:08.41\00:04:17.42 focus on him and them at the same time. You can't walk us on prayer and protagonist 00:04:17.45\00:04:21.92 simultaneously. You ain't got time to be responding to them and responding to him. You've 00:04:21.96\00:04:29.10 got to get to a place where you realize that the weapons of your warfare are not carnal, they are 00:04:29.13\00:04:37.11 mighty in God to the pulling down of strongholds. Am I preaching to anybody today? See, 00:04:37.14\00:04:45.45 how many of us know that sometimes silence can be a weapon, that a soft answer turns 00:04:45.48\00:04:51.02 away wrath, that there is power in prayer, and that sometimes you just got to step back and 00:04:51.05\00:04:58.53 leave room for God to fight the battle that you cannot fight. It's interesting. One of the 00:04:58.56\00:05:07.27 things that you'll notice is that sometimes when an eagle is in a bat or combat with a 00:05:07.30\00:05:16.31 serpent, one of the things that the eagle will do is once he grabs him with his talons, he 00:05:16.34\00:05:21.65 don't stay on the ground fighting the snake, but he'll take the snake up into the air. 00:05:21.68\00:05:28.12 Oh, you all not hearing me. In other words, as long as he's on the ground, he's on the 00:05:28.16\00:05:34.86 serpent's domain. The serpent has balance on the ground. He can use the ground to balance 00:05:34.93\00:05:41.60 him when he strikes when he's on the ground. But when he takes him up to a higher altitude, 00:05:41.64\00:05:45.47 guess what? The snake doesn't have balance at a higher altitude. His strike is not 00:05:45.51\00:05:57.49 accurate at a higher altitude. And then he takes him to a smothering altitude that's so 00:05:57.52\00:06:06.76 high that the snake can't breathe once it gets to a certain elevation. Who am I 00:06:06.80\00:06:13.20 preaching to fighting against some snakes today? The reason you are losing is you are 00:06:13.23\00:06:18.47 fighting on their terrain. And what I'm saying is, come to a higher elevation, come to a 00:06:18.51\00:06:26.85 plane where they can't breathe, come to a space where they can't maneuver, get to a place where 00:06:26.88\00:06:38.86 they have no balance. You got to fight in the heavenly and trust God with the outcome. Next thing 00:06:38.89\00:06:46.74 this text teaches us quickly, I need you to get this. That consistency is not proof of 00:06:46.77\00:06:50.71 strength. Now, slow down. I want you to understand something about when you read the Bible. 00:06:50.74\00:06:58.71 Are you all with me? Church, I need you to get that. When you read the Bible, there is no 00:06:58.75\00:07:06.76 story in the Bible that is a celebration of man's goodness. Every story in the scripture is 00:07:06.79\00:07:17.53 a revelation of the goodness, the glory, or the power of God. Are you all with me today? And 00:07:17.57\00:07:25.17 see too often when we read the story of Daniel Six, our takeaway is Daniel's 00:07:25.21\00:07:35.35 consistency. How bad he is, how impervious he is to circumstance. And I need you to 00:07:35.38\00:07:42.66 know if all you walk away with is, man, how astute Daniel is, then you have missed the 00:07:42.69\00:07:55.34 entirety of the point. There is another question that needs to be answered. See, you're asking, 00:07:55.37\00:08:04.78 man, how did Daniel get so righteous? Do you realize the more important question is, 00:08:04.81\00:08:10.75 what's happening in that upper room? No, the larger question is what's so powerful in that upper 00:08:10.79\00:08:22.70 room that makes Daniel say, I'm willing to risk my life in order to do it. What's happening in 00:08:22.73\00:08:33.74 that room that is so great that not only does Daniel say, I can't miss a day, but Daniel is 00:08:33.78\00:08:40.72 saying I got to be there several times a day and I need you to get that the consistency of 00:08:40.75\00:08:48.26 Daniel's prayer life is not proof of his strength. It's evidence of his need. Okay. See, 00:08:48.29\00:08:54.36 I need y'all to get that. Daniel does not have an enhanced human nature. He's flesh just like us. 00:08:54.36\00:09:04.64 He does not have spiritual upper hand. He does not have a glorified body. He guess what 00:09:04.67\00:09:13.18 man? He's got a lustful, vengeful, hateful, falling. He puts his draws on one foot at a 00:09:13.21\00:09:19.25 time. Can I say draws at Oakwood? Amen. Puts them on one foot at a time just like 00:09:19.29\00:09:24.46 everybody. Are you all hearing what I'm saying today? So Daniel does not have enhanced nature, 00:09:24.49\00:09:29.80 but Daniel has enhanced problems. He's got enhanced stresses, he's got enhanced 00:09:29.83\00:09:38.01 tensions. There is a pressure that pushes Daniel into the prayer closet multiple times a 00:09:38.04\00:09:42.18 day. You all realize that Daniel and the children of Israel, they are captives in the land of the 00:09:42.21\00:09:48.52 Chaldeans. They started under the Babylonians but now they're under the Medes and Persians. 00:09:48.55\00:09:50.49 But understand that man, Daniel walks around with a certain weight of responsibility because 00:09:50.52\00:09:57.83 God's people get a certain liberty and freedom simply because Daniel is there. And not 00:09:57.86\00:10:06.27 only if Daniel mess up, not only does it mess him up, it puts the people into further bondage. And 00:10:06.30\00:10:14.04 so I need you all to understand that the takeaway is not just that Daniel is this impervious, 00:10:14.08\00:10:20.95 immovable person. I need you to know who Daniel is. Daniel is simply a brother that 00:10:20.98\00:10:26.79 understands that my tensions are too big to face it in my own might. My responsibilities are 00:10:26.82\00:10:32.89 too great to go at it in my own strength. I pour out too much to not get consistently filled. My 00:10:32.93\00:10:40.34 decisions are too big. I can't be out here guessing. I got too much at stake. I got too much on 00:10:40.37\00:10:47.78 the line. I got too much to lose. I got too much stuff calling at me. In fact, I'm not 00:10:47.81\00:10:56.72 here because I'm better than nobody else. I'm here because I realize I ain't got no other 00:10:56.75\00:11:02.36 choice. I got to go into the prayer closet because I realize that my help comes from God, the 00:11:02.39\00:11:15.84 Lord who made heaven and earth. And I just need to know, do I have at least seven or eight 00:11:15.87\00:11:21.34 folk like Daniel who realize that I ain't got no better options, I ain't got no better 00:11:21.38\00:11:34.26 choice. I ain't got no other choice but to go into the prayer closet with God. Is there 00:11:34.29\00:11:44.77 anybody? Your problems are too big not to pray. That your issues are too large not to 00:11:44.80\00:11:52.51 pray. Your decisions are too big to not supplicate, you've got too much to lose. You got too 00:11:52.54\00:12:02.08 much at stake. See, the reason Daniel prays is because he realizes his own importance. 00:12:02.12\00:12:07.62 Stay with me. You'll always stay prayerless if you don't realize your importance. Oh Lord, help 00:12:07.66\00:12:15.16 them to get it. You'll stay prayerless if you don't understand your importance. And 00:12:15.20\00:12:21.04 when I say importance, it is not unto arrogance. But how many of us understand all of us are 00:12:21.07\00:12:30.65 important to the plan of salvation? Mothers, you are too important not to be praying. 00:12:30.68\00:12:39.49 Daddies, you are too important to not be calling on the name of the Lord. Your witness on your 00:12:39.52\00:12:46.66 job is too important not to be praying. The work you do is too important not to be praying. I 00:12:46.70\00:12:51.57 need you to understand that God wants to help you to realize that you've got too much to lose 00:12:51.60\00:12:59.07 in order to be going about in your own human understanding. That's why we've got to walk in 00:12:59.11\00:13:09.62 Proverbs Chapter Three and Verse Five, where I say, I'm going to trust in the Lord with all of my 00:13:09.65\00:13:17.99 heart and lean not to my own understanding, but in all my ways, acknowledge him and let 00:13:18.03\00:13:25.83 him direct my path. Okay, watch this. That's why I1st Peter 5:7 says, cast all your cares upon 00:13:25.87\00:13:34.41 him because he cares for you. So the more cares you have, the more casting you oughta be 00:13:34.44\00:13:45.75 doing. Oh God. The more worries you have, the more you oughta be before the altar. Okay, some of 00:13:45.79\00:13:47.82 you all still not getting me. It's crazy. Like back in the day in Michael Phelps Prime as in 00:13:47.86\00:13:52.93 Olympic athlete, one of the things they talked about is how his brother would eat like six 00:13:52.96\00:13:56.53 meals a day and he would eat like 10,000 calories a day. And the reason he had to eat so many 00:13:56.56\00:14:09.24 calories was because he burned so many in the pool. You all sitting, get it. Because he 00:14:09.28\00:14:21.42 poured so much out, he had to be consistently at the table in order to be refueled. So what he 00:14:21.46\00:14:28.33 put out into the world required him to sit at a table and have it replenished. And what I'm 00:14:28.36\00:14:39.57 saying is that if you are burning spiritual calories in the warfare of the spirit, then 00:14:39.61\00:14:54.52 you got to be at the table, not once, not twice, but three meals a day so that your cup is 00:14:54.56\00:15:06.07 overflowing and you operate with no lack. Are you all hearing me today, friends? Then the word 00:15:06.10\00:15:10.94 says here in Verse number 10, the Bible says, but now Daniel knew the writing had been signed 00:15:10.97\00:15:17.38 and he went home and in his upper room he went with the windows open toward Jerusalem 00:15:17.41\00:15:22.72 and he knelt down three times a day and prayed and gave thanks before his God as was his custom 00:15:22.75\00:15:32.53 since the early days. Last thing this teaches friends of mine is that praise has to be 00:15:32.56\00:15:39.93 accustomed, not a reaction. So, friends, the word says that after Daniel finds out that the 00:15:39.97\00:15:42.77 decree had been signed, the Bible says he done address the haters or the protagonist. The 00:15:42.80\00:15:48.64 Bible says, he goes to the upper room. I'm tripping on the opens the blinds. And just in case 00:15:48.68\00:15:55.25 they missed him the first time, he goes in front of the window a second time and a third time, 00:15:55.28\00:16:01.82 and see what Daniel is saying is that my Christianity ain't in the closet. And he prays three 00:16:01.86\00:16:07.56 times a day. And the Bible says that he gave thanks as it was his custom. Now the problem is 00:16:07.60\00:16:12.77 sometimes we see prayer and giving thanks as two separate acts. No, that was the very same 00:16:12.80\00:16:22.01 act. And there is something I need somebody to get. I need you to get that the key to a strong 00:16:22.04\00:16:26.58 prayer life is a strong praise life. See, I need you to understand that a part of your 00:16:26.61\00:16:33.49 prayer life, friends, before you even ask for anything, you ought to give thanks for all thanks. 00:16:33.52\00:16:44.63 See, I need you to get that when you give thanks that there is a twofold miracle that takes place 00:16:44.67\00:16:52.51 whenever a believer gives thanks unto the Lord. See, I need you to get friends that when you get 00:16:52.54\00:17:01.75 in that prayer closet and you begin to say, oh Lord, I give thanks because you are good and 00:17:01.78\00:17:08.49 your mercy endures forever. Give thanks unto the Lord for he is the God of gods. And his mercy 00:17:08.52\00:17:17.97 endures forever. When you get in that prayer closet, unlike the old folks say, Lord, I thank you 00:17:18.00\00:17:28.21 for waking me up this morning. Lord, I thank you for allowing me to be clothed in my right 00:17:28.24\00:17:32.55 mind. Lord, I thank you that my bed has not become my cooling board. Lord, I just give thanks 00:17:32.58\00:17:48.20 for your faithfulness and your provision. I need you to remember what the Bible says. 00:17:48.23\00:17:57.71 The Bible says that the Lord inhabits or dwells in the praises of his people so that 00:17:57.74\00:18:01.64 when you praise, you set an atmosphere of God all over your living room, in your bedroom, 00:18:01.68\00:18:10.69 and in your prayer closet. Jesus said it this way, if just two or three gather to praise me, I 00:18:10.72\00:18:17.46 promise to be there in the midst. I need you to know you ain't got to ask God to come, 00:18:17.49\00:18:27.14 just start praising and giving thanks. And guess what? Jehovah is going to show up. I'm not 00:18:27.17\00:18:35.91 saying that's why you praise him. I'm just saying that's what results whenever you praise him, 00:18:35.94\00:18:42.35 the Alpha would say, when the praises go up, guess what? The spirit and the blessings come 00:18:42.38\00:18:50.16 down. Are you all hearing me today, friends? Listen, I need to end this sermon, but I got to 00:18:50.19\00:18:53.50 tell you this because see, the other part of the miracle is this, that when you take the 00:18:53.53\00:19:00.74 time to recount the mercies of God and call to mind the blessings of God, there is a 00:19:00.77\00:19:03.20 faith multiplication that takes place whenever you call on the name of the Lord. Stay with me 00:19:03.24\00:19:08.24 church. Because see, I need somebody to understand this fundamental truth, that there is 00:19:08.28\00:19:18.69 not a deficit of answered prayers in the church. There is a deficit of acknowledgement in 00:19:18.72\00:19:27.23 the church. See, sometimes we can ask God to do something, and sometimes God moves in a 00:19:27.23\00:19:35.90 glorious way. But sometimes God moves in such a subtle way that you can get the blessing and 00:19:35.94\00:19:43.65 keep on moving and forgot that you even prayed for it and ask God to do it on your behalf. And 00:19:43.68\00:19:48.35 so when you take the time to write down your blessings and recall the mercies of God and 00:19:48.38\00:19:56.26 you begin to list down all the answers of prayer and you begin to see how many prayers have 00:19:56.29\00:20:02.23 been answered, you actually get more faith for your asking. Real talk. A week and a half ago, a 00:20:02.26\00:20:08.97 little over a week and a half ago, my wife and I were out of the country. We were getting 00:20:09.00\00:20:17.85 ready to come home the next day. And as we're sitting there on the beach, man, we just have a 00:20:17.88\00:20:24.85 little time off of just our family acknowledgement. And it's crazy. My wife was there on the 00:20:24.89\00:20:32.46 beach before I was. And when I got there, man, she was already worked up, man, all slain in the 00:20:32.49\00:20:39.10 spirit right there on the little thing, man. And she says, honey, do you realize that our life is 00:20:39.13\00:20:45.77 an answer to prayer? And we just begin to recall church. We begin to recall how the house we live 00:20:45.81\00:20:52.85 in is an answer to prayer. How the car we drive is an answer to prayer. That our children are an 00:20:52.88\00:21:01.89 answer to prayer. That our work is an answer to prayer. That our marriage is an answer to prayer. 00:21:01.92\00:21:09.93 That even our trials have been an answer to our prayers. And it was crazy because the more we 00:21:09.96\00:21:22.71 acknowledge what God had done, the greater our faith began to multiply. And as we began to 00:21:22.74\00:21:27.02 pray, we had more confidence about what we were asking for when we reflected on the prayers 00:21:27.05\00:21:34.89 that God had already answered. And what I'm saying is that there needs to be a little bit 00:21:34.92\00:21:44.03 more acknowledgement in the house of God. Is there anybody that can testify today that the 00:21:44.07\00:21:51.51 house you live in is an answer to prayer? That the car you drive, is an answer to prayer. 00:21:51.54\00:22:07.52 That the one you're married to is an answer to prayer. You might not feel like it today, 00:22:07.56\00:22:15.03 but fake a praise with me today. Praise and for the one you're married to. Can somebody testify 00:22:15.06\00:22:22.17 that your work isn't answer to prayer? That getting out of the hospital was an answer to 00:22:22.20\00:22:31.41 prayer. Getting your kids in school was an answer to prayer. The degree on your wall is an 00:22:31.45\00:22:35.78 answer to prayer. That being protected is an answer to a prayer. Anybody know your 00:22:35.82\00:22:42.96 children is an answer to the a prayer? Anybody know your trial is an answer to a prayer? You 00:22:42.99\00:22:51.33 don't wanna praise them for the trial. But remember you prayed, Lord, build my faith. Lord, grow 00:22:51.37\00:23:02.48 my character. You prayed, Lord make me like Jesus. So even the trial was an answer to your 00:23:02.51\00:23:17.43 prayer. Can somebody praise him that he hears? Can you praise him that before he calls, he is 00:23:17.46\00:23:26.70 already answered and you got more answers than you have denials to your prayers? Are you 00:23:26.74\00:23:36.34 all here in the pastor today? And what I'm saying is friends, there ought to be a little bit 00:23:36.38\00:23:51.46 more celebration. There ought to be a little bit more gratitude. That there ought to be a little 00:23:51.49\00:23:58.43 bit more thanksgiving in the house of God. And see, this is epic church because praise was 00:23:58.47\00:24:10.05 his custom, not his reaction. See, the problem is, we ain't got enough real worshipers in 00:24:10.08\00:24:31.53 the church. See, fake worshipers will praise in response to something good. But if your 00:24:31.57\00:24:43.45 praise is always a response, it's going to be inconsistent. If it's not accustomed, if it's 00:24:43.48\00:24:51.62 just a reaction. See all these fake worshipers, they'll only respond to a good song. They'll 00:24:51.65\00:24:55.42 only respond to a good sermon. They'll only respond to a promotion. They'll only respond 00:24:55.46\00:25:00.80 when things go well. But when praise is your custom, you become like Paul and Silas so 00:25:00.83\00:25:14.94 that even when you are in jail in the midnight hour, you can be heard praying and giving praise 00:25:14.98\00:25:25.49 unto God. I need some Job-like worshipers who will say the Lord gives and the Lord takes away. 00:25:25.52\00:25:29.36 But blessed be the name of the Lord. Is there anybody that will praise him like David and say, I 00:25:29.39\00:25:36.60 will bless the Lord at all times and his praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul will 00:25:36.63\00:25:47.08 make his voice in the Lord. The humble shall hear thereof and be glad. Oh Oakwood, would you 00:25:47.11\00:25:54.65 magnify the Lord with me and let us exalt his name together? Praise him in the good times. 00:25:54.68\00:25:57.02 Praise him in the bad times. Praise him when you got money. Praise him when you ain't got no 00:25:57.05\00:26:07.03 money. Praise him when they talk good. Praise them when they talk bad. Praise him in the temple. 00:26:07.03\00:26:15.27 Praise him in the firmament. Praise him on the high signs symbols. Praise him with the 00:26:15.30\00:26:21.94 string instruments. Let everything that has breath praise the name of the Lord. Are 00:26:21.98\00:26:27.48 you all hearing me today, friends? Listen last thing, I'm done real quick. And this is the 00:26:27.52\00:26:39.63 key because this is where somebody's living right now because prayer doesn't just save 00:26:39.66\00:26:45.90 you from, prayer braces you for. I'm done. Play something soft. You better get me off. Yeah, I 00:26:45.93\00:26:50.64 got a plane to catch. Amen. See, Daniel's consistent prayer life, it didn't keep people from 00:26:50.67\00:26:56.41 hating him. It didn't keep people from disliking him. It didn't keep people from talking 00:26:56.44\00:27:06.25 about him. It didn't keep people from coming for him. It didn't keep the plan from being thought 00:27:06.29\00:27:10.73 about. It didn't keep the plan from materializing His prayers don't keep the weapon from being 00:27:10.76\00:27:15.83 formed. His prayers can't even keep him out of the lion's den. So the prayers of the righteous 00:27:15.86\00:27:28.48 don't keep you from every trial, But you know what the prayers of the righteous do? Is they brace 00:27:28.51\00:28:29.60 you for every adversity that the enemy throws your way. Listen, one last real quick quote from 00:28:29.64\00:28:44.65
