And so fam, I invite you to stand to your feet 00:00:50.68\00:00:58.12 as we go to the word today. We're going to begin today in 1st Kings Chapter 19 as we 00:00:58.15\00:01:05.89 continue our series entitled The Pivot. And what we're going to be looking at today is how 00:01:05.93\00:01:12.77 sometimes every now and then we don't necessarily need a physical pivot, but sometimes 00:01:12.80\00:01:20.98 we've got to pivot in posture. Can you say amen? So 1st Kings Chapter 19, and we're going to 00:01:21.01\00:01:23.01 begin together at verse number one. And again, this word is for anybody that has ever gone 00:01:23.04\00:01:33.02 through something. Anybody ever gone through something today? Amen. 1st Kings Chapter 19 and 00:01:33.05\00:01:40.66 Verse One, we find here the prophet Elijah, right after his victory at Carmel, where God had 00:01:40.70\00:01:46.10 sent fire from heaven and they had overthrown the prophets of Baal. 1st Kings chapter 19:1, 00:01:46.13\00:01:56.95 and we'll see what happens next. When you get there let me hear you say amen. Amen. The Bible 00:01:56.98\00:02:05.72 says, and Ahab told Jezebel, his wife, all that Elijah had done also how he had executed the 00:02:05.75\00:02:14.20 prophets with a sword. Then Jezebel sent a what? Sent a messenger to Elijah saying, so 00:02:14.23\00:02:24.34 let the gods do to me and more also if I do not make your life as the life of one of them by 00:02:24.37\00:02:35.78 tomorrow this same time. And when he saw it, he arose and ran for his life and went to 00:02:35.82\00:02:46.80 Beersheba, which belongs to Judah and left his servant there. But he himself went a 00:02:46.83\00:02:55.64 day's journey into the wilderness and came and sat down under a broom tree and he prayed 00:02:55.67\00:03:06.61 that he might what? That he might die and said, it is enough. Now, Lord, take my life 00:03:06.65\00:03:15.96 for I am no better than my father's. Then as he lay and slept under the broom tree, 00:03:15.99\00:03:28.04 suddenly an angel touched him and said, arise and eat. Then he looked and thereby his head was 00:03:28.07\00:03:35.61 a cake baked on coals and a jar of water. So he ate and he drank and he laid down what? Again, 00:03:35.64\00:03:43.79 and the angel of the Lord came back the second time and touched him and said, arise and eat 00:03:43.82\00:03:52.23 because the journey is too great for you. So he arose and ate and drank and he went in the 00:03:52.26\00:04:00.17 strength of that food. How long? 40 days and 40 night as far as Horeb the mountain of God. Then 00:04:00.20\00:04:10.18 there, he went into the cave and spent the night in that place. And behold the word of the Lord 00:04:10.21\00:04:22.82 came to him and he said unto him, what are you doing here, Elijah? But I just want to read 00:04:22.86\00:04:33.20 for emphasis verse number four. But he went a day's journey into the wilderness and he came down 00:04:33.23\00:04:35.00 and sat under a broom tree and prayed that he might die and said, it is enough. Now, Lord, 00:04:35.04\00:04:39.67 take my life for I am no better than my father's. Today Saints, I want to talk to you for a 00:04:39.71\00:04:47.58 little while under the subject When Enough is Enough. Let's pray together. Father, I pray 00:04:47.62\00:04:55.16 that in this moment that you would permit me to be completely possessed by your spirit. 00:04:55.19\00:05:03.77 Father, I'm praying for a visitation that is rare and distinct for a visitation that 00:05:03.80\00:05:17.45 moves us from one plane spiritually to a different plane. So Lord, would you please 00:05:17.48\00:05:28.82 multiply faith in the hearing of the word? Once again, would you please hide me in the shadows of 00:05:28.86\00:05:36.36 the cross that Jesus alone might be seen, that Christ alone would be heard? And at the end of our 00:05:36.40\00:05:47.18 time together, may Jesus alone be praised. We ask this in the name of the Almighty master 00:05:47.21\00:05:57.09 Jesus Christ, let those who believe say together. Amen and amen. You may be seated in the 00:05:57.12\00:06:06.96 house of the Lord. Again, talking to you today under the subject When Enough is Enough. 00:06:07.00\00:06:13.37 As we begin today, let me provide some context for our lesson. If you recall, king 00:06:13.40\00:06:25.01 Ahab, had one of the more wicked reigns in the history of Israel due to his marriage with the 00:06:25.05\00:06:31.69 godless Jezebel idolatry had began to overtake the land and the hearts of the people had 00:06:31.72\00:06:42.90 been drawn away from God. And so God caused the land to be cursed with seven years of drought that 00:06:42.93\00:06:49.74 was to begin and conclude with the word of the prophet Elijah. And both Ahab and Jezebel 00:06:49.77\00:06:58.05 suffered national embarrassment as Elijah in solitude stood over against the prophets of Baal and 00:06:58.08\00:07:03.39 a fire making competition. You see, Elijah challenged them to call upon Baal to cause fire to 00:07:03.42\00:07:10.59 come down from heaven and understand that after a day of praying and dancing and self 00:07:10.63\00:07:16.90 mingling, the impotence of Baal was revealed as the true God of heaven answered with such a 00:07:16.93\00:07:23.91 force of fire that not only did it destroy the sacrifice, it consumed the altar and it lapped 00:07:23.94\00:07:32.25 up all of the water that was in the trenches there around. And understand that Elijah operates 00:07:32.28\00:07:36.69 with so much authority that Elijah calls Ahab's army to kill Jezebel's prophets. And this 00:07:36.72\00:07:48.13 display of power left egg on the face of Ahab and Jezebel and understand that this was perhaps 00:07:48.16\00:07:51.70 the apex victory in the ministry of Elijah and his hope friends, is that this would be a catalyst 00:07:51.73\00:08:01.61 for national reformation and repentance, that Ahab would see the era of his ways and that his 00:08:01.64\00:08:07.52 wife Jezebel would begin to repent. But understand that in this story, Jezebel is not 00:08:07.55\00:08:18.36 filled with contrition, but in fact she's filled with a greater rage so that she sends a message 00:08:18.39\00:08:30.64 to Elijah saying that at least 24 hours from now I'm going to do to you the same thing that 00:08:30.67\00:08:38.48 was done to the prophets of Baal. And the strange thing friends, is that the prophet 00:08:38.51\00:08:47.89 complies, he takes pursuit into the wilderness and it gets so bad that he lays down his 00:08:47.92\00:08:51.89 mantale and he summons the sweet relief of death and understand that this text teaches us a 00:08:51.93\00:09:01.27 number of things. But the first thing I need you to understand, number one is that there is a 00:09:01.30\00:09:09.98 difference between a threat and an attack. Let me say it again, that there's a difference 00:09:10.01\00:09:16.08 between an attack and an actual threat. Are you with me today, friends? Now, understand that 00:09:16.12\00:09:25.96 humanly, I understand why Elijah takes cover. As a man, I understand why he begins to flee 00:09:25.99\00:09:36.97 for his life, but man, this thing gets so intense that Elijah literally lays down his 00:09:37.01\00:09:41.74 prophetic mantle and he gives God his prophetic resignation. Now, understand saints, that on 00:09:41.78\00:09:50.12 the journey of faith that you'll experience authentic satanic attacks. But there will be times 00:09:50.15\00:10:00.70 where the enemy will magnify himself simply by issuing an intimidating threat. Are you 00:10:00.73\00:10:06.77 with me? And see what Elijah cannot see or what he has failed to see is that his entire life 00:10:06.80\00:10:17.18 has been lived under the watchful care of the Almighty God. That God has put a 00:10:17.21\00:10:25.59 restraint in Ahab's heart so that his advances can only come so far. In other words, he's not 00:10:25.62\00:10:32.56 recognized that Ahab's attacks only come to a certain threshold. And notice now that 00:10:32.59\00:10:40.94 Jezebel knows exactly where Elijah is. She knows exactly where he can be found. But did 00:10:40.97\00:10:48.14 you notice that she sends a messenger, not a murderer? Did you notice that she sends a 00:10:48.18\00:10:53.75 herald, not a hit man. Did you notice that she sends an assistant and not an assassin? 00:10:53.78\00:11:02.26 You would think that if she knows exactly where he is, that she would send the armies to 00:11:02.29\00:11:08.40 arrest him and have him killed. But Jezebel's goal is not assassination, it's 00:11:08.43\00:11:18.44 intimidation. In other words, her goal is to simply silence his voice. She wants him to 00:11:18.47\00:11:24.91 cease and desist. She wants him to quit voluntarily because she doesn't have the power to 00:11:24.95\00:11:34.56 overtake or destroy the man of God. Notice friends of mine, all she does is send a threat, but 00:11:34.59\00:11:41.23 she does not send an attack. Are y'all hearing me today, friends? In other words, you know that 00:11:41.26\00:11:47.20 when somebody's ready to fight, they don't spend a whole lot of time talking to you about what 00:11:47.24\00:11:56.54 they going to do. They don't stand in the corner selling wolf tickets. Am I telling you the 00:11:56.58\00:12:06.25 truth? In other words, when somebody's about that life, they don't spend a whole lot of time 00:12:06.29\00:12:15.16 talking about it. They just start moving in a whole different way. Are y'all hearing 00:12:15.20\00:12:27.18 me today, friends? In other words, it is just like on the school yard, you know how 00:12:27.21\00:12:35.42 somebody really wants to fight and when they don't. In other words, if they saying hold me 00:12:35.45\00:12:46.56 back, hold me back, then you know they ain't ready to throw them hands. But when somebody's 00:12:46.59\00:12:55.10 ready to fight, they ain't asking nobody to hold them back. They trying to break through the 00:12:55.14\00:13:04.98 barrier. Are y'all with me today? And understand that your girl Jezebel may be godless, but 00:13:05.01\00:13:11.95 she ain't crazy. She may be wicked, but she ain't stupid. In other words, she notices that 00:13:11.99\00:13:21.66 there is some divine agency upon Elijah. She knows that God is with this man and that to 00:13:21.70\00:13:28.37 destroy him is going to bring judgment upon her own house. So she doesn't send an attack, she 00:13:28.40\00:13:32.97 just sends an intimidating threat. Are y'all with me today, friends? And see what God's 00:13:33.01\00:13:40.22 people need to know is that in the realm of spiritual warfare, I need you to know that you have 00:13:40.25\00:13:49.99 a hedge around you that is equivalent to the hedge that God placed around Job. I need you to 00:13:50.03\00:13:58.43 know that you've got an angelic security detail that is with you in your coming in and your going 00:13:58.47\00:14:05.41 out. And the truth is that like Elijah, we are not succumbing to an actual attack, but some of us 00:14:05.44\00:14:12.51 actually get weak because of the presence of a threat. You see, notice Isaiah 54 says, no weapon 00:14:12.55\00:14:19.49 formed against you will be permitted to prosper. But notice it says the weapon won't 00:14:19.52\00:14:27.56 prosper, but God is going to allow it to be formed. In other words, I need somebody to get 00:14:27.60\00:14:36.81 that God is going to cause the attack to fail even if he allows the threat to prevail and see 00:14:36.84\00:14:46.78 real talk friends, because there's somebody today that is dealing with a very real and 00:14:46.82\00:14:55.02 authentic spiritual attack, but there is somebody that is fearful and afraid and 00:14:55.06\00:15:02.13 frightened simply because of the presence of a threat. You see, there is somebody falling apart 00:15:02.16\00:15:11.17 because of a likelihood. There is somebody getting weak because of a possibility. There is 00:15:11.21\00:15:16.51 somebody afraid of what might happen. There is somebody that's lost their faith because of 00:15:16.54\00:15:23.85 probabilities. In other words, there is somebody that is employed but you are nervous 00:15:23.89\00:15:35.73 because of the threat your job might be taken away. There is somebody whose provision is 00:15:35.76\00:15:44.51 sufficient, but you are afraid or threatened about what may happen if it's taken away. There 00:15:44.54\00:15:53.72 is somebody that's preoccupied with what enemies might be planning and what people might 00:15:53.75\00:16:02.32 be saying. And we're afraid about what might come to pass. And what I want to say to 00:16:02.36\00:16:14.44 somebody is, don't fall apart because of a threats. In other words, you might not know what 00:16:14.47\00:16:22.84 tomorrow holds, but how many of us know who holds tomorrow? You see, I need you to know that 00:16:22.88\00:16:29.68 Satan has a way of suggesting possibilities and setting up evil imaginations that make war 00:16:29.72\00:16:36.49 against your mind and the posture of faith. And I just need to say to somebody today 00:16:36.52\00:16:45.13 because there's somebody waiting on some medical test results, but I want to admonish you don't 00:16:45.17\00:16:50.61 start living in the worst case scenario until you are in the worst case scenario. There is 00:16:50.64\00:16:56.08 some single person and the devil's tried to convince you that because you can't see 00:16:56.11\00:17:09.86 anyone, that they'll never be anyone. Go ahead and enjoy this season until God brings you into 00:17:09.89\00:17:17.50 the next. There is somebody worried about the money getting little low, but you don't know 00:17:17.53\00:17:27.64 what God has in store for your future. There are times where as a parent I have to curtail my 00:17:27.68\00:17:36.38 thoughts because when I watch the news and see these shootings and kidnappings, I get worried 00:17:36.42\00:17:42.46 about what might happen to my kids. But God has to let me know that even though they came from 00:17:42.49\00:17:50.03 you, they don't belong to you. They actually belong to me. Are you hearing me today? And see, 00:17:50.07\00:17:56.20 this is the critical message because when the warfare is in the realm of threat, meaning 00:17:56.24\00:18:03.51 that the devil is coming for your peace, the mistake we make is that when the threat is 00:18:03.55\00:18:14.09 spiritual, we try to secure the physical. In other words, when this threat is spiritual, what 00:18:14.12\00:18:20.56 we start trying to do is get a ring camera for our doorbell and guns for our houses and 00:18:20.60\00:18:23.77 deadlocks for the doors, and we start moving money around bracing for what is about to 00:18:23.80\00:18:33.44 come. But you've got to know how to respond to a spiritual threat. You see, the only way to 00:18:33.48\00:18:40.68 respond to a spiritual threat is with a spiritual promise. Okay, take your time. The only way to 00:18:40.72\00:18:47.29 respond to a spiritual threat is to stand on a spiritual promise. Why pastor? Because understand 00:18:47.32\00:18:55.16 what a threat is. A threat is not what's already happened, it's just when the enemy 00:18:55.20\00:19:02.97 promises what he's going to make happen. And what I'm saying to somebody today is that a threat 00:19:03.00\00:19:08.68 is just the enemy's guarantee of what shall be. And what I believe is that if a threat can 00:19:08.71\00:19:17.72 make you anxious, then a promise should make you peaceful. Let me say it to y'all on this side, 00:19:17.75\00:19:23.86 that if Satan's threat makes you anxious, then God's promise should make you peaceful. How 00:19:23.89\00:19:30.47 many of us know that Satan's promise should not outweigh God's promise and that there is 00:19:30.50\00:19:37.57 a promise for every threat that the enemy puts in your life? Oh God, see, I need you to know 00:19:37.61\00:19:42.68 it's God's job to manage the threat. It's your job to manage you. In other words, God has got 00:19:42.71\00:19:51.39 the odd economy under control. God has got the job market under control. God has got your baby 00:19:51.42\00:19:58.03 mama under control. God has got your ex-husband under control. God has got Trump, Biden and 00:19:58.06\00:20:08.77 DeSantis under control. God has got everything under control. You've got to get yourself under 00:20:08.80\00:20:17.55 control And see, I need somebody to know that there is a promise for every threat that might 00:20:17.58\00:20:26.35 prevail in your life. I need you to know that when enemies come up against you, Psalm 46 says 00:20:26.39\00:20:36.67 that God is our refuge and our strength, our very present help in the time of trouble. I need 00:20:36.70\00:20:54.08 you to know when affliction threatens you. Psalm 34:18 says, many are the afflictions of the 00:20:54.12\00:21:03.73 righteous, but the Lord delivers them from them all. When financial woes threaten you, the 00:21:03.76\00:21:09.13 promises of Philippians is that my God shall supply all your needs according to his richest 00:21:09.16\00:21:15.37 in glory. Sometimes when folks threaten and talk about you, remember the name of the Lord is 00:21:15.40\00:21:22.74 a strong tower and that the righteous run in and find safety. Sometimes circumstances 00:21:22.78\00:21:30.95 seem like they'll never work together. But Romans 8:28 says, all things work together for 00:21:30.99\00:21:38.56 them that love God and are called according to his purpose. And sometimes trouble threatens 00:21:38.59\00:21:46.17 like it's not going to ever end, but I've got to promise for the word says, he that shall come, 00:21:46.20\00:21:53.41 will come and he will not tarry that one day trouble is going to come to an end. Are y'all 00:21:53.44\00:22:02.18 hearing me today, friends? And see there are times where we get all worried about stuff because 00:22:02.22\00:22:13.33 when we're threatened we can't see God. But I, but I shared this with you last week. 00:22:13.36\00:22:22.74 Sometimes it doesn't matter if you can see God, all that matters is that your enemy can. 00:22:22.77\00:22:31.85 So, last week I was out in Los Angeles preaching and I took my sons and we made it a little bit 00:22:31.88\00:22:42.29 of a boys' trip. And so what happened is I go inside of they were in this little mall area 00:22:42.32\00:22:50.03 and I go inside of a department store. And so the boys did not want to go in, so they just 00:22:50.07\00:23:00.91 played out in the little open square. And so what happens is, mom, I I'm looking at them 00:23:00.94\00:23:11.92 through the window of the department store and as I'm looking at them, I see two older 00:23:11.95\00:23:15.36 boys that looks like they're roaming and casing them as if they are interested in my oldest 00:23:15.39\00:23:24.10 son's cell phone. And so I need you to know that when I see them seeing my sons, I don't really 00:23:24.13\00:23:33.91 go out and make a big deal. I just go stand outside of the door and let them see me. And 00:23:33.94\00:23:41.48 it's crazy, as soon as they see daddy, they start moving in the other direction. No, I need you 00:23:41.52\00:23:51.46 to know my boys never saw me, but they didn't need to see me. Their enemies just needed to see 00:23:51.49\00:24:01.97 me. Oh God, there are somebody today that's saying I can't see God. It doesn't matter if you 00:24:02.00\00:24:10.55 can see him. As long as your enemy sees him, you going to be okay as you stand strong in him. 00:24:10.58\00:24:15.28 Are y'all hearing me today, friends? Second thing, our story teaches us today, friends is 00:24:15.32\00:24:23.26 never create your own expectations for God. Now, again, it's okay to have 00:24:23.29\00:24:33.47 expectations of God, but don't set your own expectations for God. You see, we find Elijah in 00:24:33.50\00:24:41.31 the place of disappointment and disillusionment. And can I just say this, to help your faith out 00:24:41.34\00:24:51.12 along the way that you'll wind up being disappointed when your expectations are based on your 00:24:51.15\00:24:55.99 preferences and not God's promises. And he 00:25:43.71\00:25:52.01 is sitting by a brook that is consistently drying up. Now, watch what happens church. He 00:25:52.05\00:28:11.79 has been in this posture of uncomfortable faith. But what happens is that after the 00:28:11.82\00:28:34.68 victory at Mount Carmel, Elijah sets an expectation that because God answered by fire and because 00:28:34.71\00:28:49.72
