(Breath of Life Theme Music) 00:00:01.33\00:00:09.94 Sermon #S009 - (Every Little Step I Take - Part 2) 00:00:09.97\00:00:20.15 Welcome to the Breath of Life Television Ministries broadcast! 00:00:20.18\00:00:23.55 In today's episode, we will pick up from Part Two of the message 00:00:23.59\00:00:28.29 entitled: “Every Little Step I Take” by Pastor Debleaire Snell. Let's take a radical step of 00:00:28.32\00:00:37.50 faith through the Word of God. Pastor Snell: See I need us to understand, beloved, the purpose 00:00:37.53\00:00:42.94 of trials and satanic attack. You all need to know the devil 00:00:42.97\00:00:45.27 ain't no fool. He knows that the angel of the Lord encamps about those that fear Him. 00:00:45.31\00:00:50.48 The devil knows that the weapons formed against you will not be 00:00:50.51\00:00:56.62 able to prosper. He knows he can't have your health. He knows he can't have your kids. He 00:00:56.65\00:01:04.06 knows that he can't touch your life. Listen, when he came for Job, do you remember what God 00:01:04.09\00:01:11.30 said? He says, "Have you considered my servant Job?" Do you remember what the devil 00:01:11.33\00:01:17.84 said? The devil said, "No. I know who he is. You got a hedge about his house, about his life 00:01:17.87\00:01:23.75 and about everything he has." How did the devil know that job had a hedge? Because he had 00:01:23.78\00:01:37.23 already come for Job, but the hedge kept them and made the devil so that he could not touch 00:01:37.26\00:01:45.40 him. The devil knows that he can't take you under. But like the storm, he knows if he makes 00:01:45.43\00:01:55.31 enough noise, if he sends a little lightning, if he sends the rush away, if he can get you 00:01:55.34\00:02:01.22 to start looking at the rush and stop focusing on Jesus, he knows that he can take you down. This 00:02:01.25\00:02:06.82 is why, friends of mine, it's so critical that we spend this week mastering our distractions. Can 00:02:06.86\00:02:18.37 you say amen? If the enemy can get you to focus on the crisis and not on Christ, he can cause 00:02:18.40\00:02:25.71 you to begin to sink. Right, so won't get mad at me for a minute here. If he can get you to focus 00:02:25.74\00:02:35.75 on Putin, eventually, he'll get your faith to sink. If he can get you to focus on Instagram, 00:02:35.78\00:02:42.26 more than you focus on your intercessor. Oh, where are you 00:02:42.29\00:02:43.83 all at? He can cause your faith to sink. 00:02:43.86\00:02:46.29 If he can keep you focused on the state of the Lakers as opposed to the God who can calm 00:02:46.33\00:02:55.84 the lake, he can cause your faith to begin to sink. 00:02:55.87\00:02:58.31 If he can keep you focused on the news instead of the new thing that God is about to do, 00:02:58.34\00:03:04.55 then guess what? He can cause your faith to begin to sink. 00:03:04.58\00:03:08.65 If he can keep you looking so much at the job report and the 00:03:08.68\00:03:14.29 stock market, if he can keep you looking at the price of gas, eventually, you will begin to 00:03:14.32\00:03:22.96 lose your hold on God. Are you all hearing me today, saints? 00:03:23.00\00:03:25.00 The one thing about unrealistic faith is that unrealistic faith is focused. Are you all hearing 00:03:25.03\00:03:30.71 me today, saints? The thing about unrealistic faith is unrealistic faith is not 00:03:30.74\00:03:37.28 ignorant. Unrealistic faith is not unaware of the problem. 00:03:37.31\00:03:41.12 What unrealistic faith does is it focuses on the solution more 00:03:41.15\00:03:48.96 than the problem. Are you hearing me today, saints? Unrealistic faith is aware of 00:03:48.99\00:03:54.56 the rush, but what it does is it keeps its look downfield on the God who is able to fix it. 00:03:54.60\00:04:03.74 Are you all with me? I'm tripping on this, you all. I'm wondering like if it's storming 00:04:03.77\00:04:10.95 the whole time, why does Peter stop looking at Jesus and start looking at the storm. You all 00:04:10.98\00:04:19.05 still with me, church? [Congregation: Yes.] 00:04:19.09\00:04:20.69 Pastor Snell: I got a little insight from a little book Desire of Ages 380. 00:04:20.72\00:04:24.39 Put this up on the screen. I need you to see what caused your boy Peter to lose his way. 00:04:24.43\00:04:32.80 Humanity is so petty. She says, "Looking unto Jesus, Peter walks out securely. But as in 00:04:32.83\00:04:46.05 self-satisfaction, he glances back toward his companions..." Come on. You all with me? "...in 00:04:46.08\00:04:54.42 the boat. His eyes are turned from the Savior. The wind is boisterous. The waves roll high, 00:04:54.46\00:05:01.63 and come directly between him and the master. He is afraid. 00:05:01.66\00:05:06.50 For a moment Christ is hidden from his view and his faith gives way." Did you all catch 00:05:06.53\00:05:15.84 this? It just shows that it doesn't matter how stormy your life is. Humanity is going to 00:05:15.88\00:05:26.12 find a way to be petty. Like he is in the middle of a storm and he finds the time to look down 00:05:26.15\00:05:37.63 on the eleven who are still in the boat. Now, remember the argument they're always having. 00:05:37.67\00:05:44.44 It's about who's going to be the greatest in the kingdom. Understand that walking on water 00:05:44.47\00:05:52.01 is going to give Peter a head start in this race. Peter is feeling himself so much, that he 00:05:52.05\00:05:58.95 looks at his voice. So as to say in the words of Kool Moe Dee, How Ya Like Me Now? Are you all 00:05:58.99\00:06:06.66 hearing what I'm saying today? It's crazy because I can see this thing where first he's 00:06:06.70\00:06:10.67 walking out there, and even though he's walking with conviction, he's a little bit 00:06:10.70\00:06:15.44 nervous and maybe at first, his knees are a little bit trembling and his hands are shaking. 00:06:15.47\00:06:19.17 The reason I know that he walk for little ways on the water is he walked long enough to get 00:06:19.21\00:06:28.08 arrogant. In other words, at first, he's stepping with kind of a little bit of a fragility, 00:06:28.12\00:06:32.15 but after a while, Peter starts feeling himself. After a while, he's getting the dirt off his 00:06:32.19\00:06:38.89 shoulder. After a while, he's leaning with it and he's rocking 00:06:38.93\00:06:43.87 with it. After a while, your boy Peter's all in his feelings, and 00:06:43.90\00:06:49.14 it's crazy. He turns around to look at them. And then the storm says, "Hey. Look at me." 00:06:49.17\00:06:56.31 It seems the waves right between him and Jesus, and just like that, he begins to sink. 00:06:56.34\00:07:04.99 Now, hear me on this, saints. The word is holding Peter up. The word can hold these fears. 00:07:05.02\00:07:13.43 It can hold his flaws. Oh, Jesus. The word can hold these fears. It can hold these flaws. 00:07:13.46\00:07:21.60 It can hold this anxiety. The word will hold everything, but 00:07:21.64\00:07:30.75 your ego. Your boy Peter, he's already planned his boast for when they get back on the 00:07:30.78\00:07:37.95 ground. He's already ready to tell them about themselves. 00:07:37.99\00:07:41.69 I guess what I'm saying to the church is that when God lets you start walking on the water, 00:07:41.72\00:07:48.83 you ain't got no time to be looking down your nose at those who are still in the boat. 00:07:48.86\00:07:55.64 You've got to learn how to keep your eyes on Jesus every single 00:07:55.67\00:08:02.58 step of the way. Are you all hearing me, saints? 00:08:02.61\00:08:04.65 That's why I love what the Bible says, what Paul says, if I'm going to boast, let my boasting 00:08:04.68\00:08:10.39 be in Jesus. Come on and say amen. Say to the Living God. 00:08:10.42\00:08:14.22 This is why I think it's critical that no matter how high you get in life, that the higher 00:08:14.26\00:08:22.76 you get, that's the higher you ought to lift up Jesus in every single thing He does for you. 00:08:22.80\00:08:28.50 Are you hearing me today, saints? In other words, in all 00:08:28.54\00:08:32.61 of your boasting, let your boasting be in the power of the 00:08:32.64\00:08:35.71 cross. In other words, don't you ever let me hear you talk about how you got the degree. 00:08:35.74\00:08:39.71 No, you better open up your mouth and say it was God that gave them the money for school. 00:08:39.75\00:08:44.62 It was God that gave me the sense to study. It was God that helped me get through the class. 00:08:44.65\00:08:49.92 Don't you ever talk about how you started the business. 00:08:49.96\00:08:52.76 You ought to tell the story about how God opened up doors that no man can shut, 00:08:52.79\00:08:57.37 and God shut doors that no man could open. 00:08:57.40\00:09:00.37 Don't ever let me hear you talk about how your good driving allows you to get out of the 00:09:00.40\00:09:05.77 accident. How many of us know that it was the hand of God that steered us in trouble, 00:09:05.81\00:09:10.51 and God is the one that steered us out of trouble? 00:09:10.55\00:09:12.98 I just need to know. Do I have at least seven saints that are so thankful for what God has 00:09:13.01\00:09:18.02 done? That you want to take a moment and just boast in the Lord. You just want to take a 00:09:18.05\00:09:23.32 moment and say it was God that got me through school. It was God that put me in the house. 00:09:23.36\00:09:29.96 It was God that got my business off the ground. It was God that helped me finish the 00:09:30.00\00:09:37.01 dissertation. It was God that helped me get out of the hospital bed. It was God that 00:09:37.04\00:09:43.14 kept my marriage together. It was God that kept my kids out of jail. It was God that kept me in 00:09:43.18\00:09:49.72 my right mind. There ain't no reason for you to be in your 00:09:49.75\00:09:53.96 right mind. The truth is you just don't look like what's you've been through. 00:09:53.99\00:09:58.86 The reason you don't look like it is because the hand of God has covered you, kept you and 00:09:58.89\00:10:09.60 preserved you. Let's boast in the Lord for 10 seconds in this 00:10:09.64\00:10:13.88 place. [Congregation: Clapping] 00:10:13.91\00:10:15.98 Pastor Snell: Are you all hearing the word today, saints? Hallelujah. Now it's going to 00:10:16.01\00:10:31.66 get good in a minute. There is an overlooked portion of this story, saints. Peter, he's 00:10:31.69\00:10:44.97 feeling himself on the word, right? He's walking with such confidence that he forgets where 00:10:45.01\00:10:54.78 he ends and where Jesus begins. He's thinking it's him, so Peter begins to sink, right? Then, he 00:10:54.82\00:11:02.82 cries out, "Lord, save me." Then Jesus picks him up, and then we shout right there. But there is 00:11:02.86\00:11:12.23 something that blows my mind. Jesus is talking to Peter, but have you ever noticed where this 00:11:12.27\00:11:23.81 conversation takes place? No, no, no. The Bible says the boat doesn't come to where Jesus and 00:11:23.85\00:11:32.65 Peter are. Jesus is having this conversation and saying, "Peter, you were doing so good. Why did 00:11:32.69\00:11:39.79 you doubt?" But you know what they stand in? They are still standing on the water. The boat 00:11:39.83\00:11:54.34 doesn't come to where they are. In fact, Jesus grabs him hand-in-hand. After Peter 00:11:54.38\00:12:08.26 doubted, he still walks on water to get back into the boat. Oh, church. No, no, no. After he 00:12:08.29\00:12:17.13 doubted, Jesus should have brought the boat to him, but he still walked on water, even 00:12:17.17\00:12:25.01 after he doubted, in order to get to the boat. Okay. How do I know that I won't sink if I 00:12:25.04\00:12:33.48 operate in faith. All I got to do is look at how God kept me 00:12:33.52\00:12:40.09 when I had doubt. If God helped me walk on water after I doubted, how much can I do if I 00:12:40.12\00:12:50.30 continue to believe? In other words, Saints, if God kept you when you weren't returning a 00:12:50.33\00:12:54.90 tithe. Oh, you all. Come on church and stay with me. 00:12:54.94\00:12:57.21 What will happen if you start returning a tithe? If God bless you when you were working on 00:12:57.24\00:13:04.31 Sabbath, won't God bless you when you take a stand for the Sabbath? If God bless you when 00:13:04.35\00:13:11.69 you were filled with complaints, won't God bless you once you start giving God the praise? 00:13:11.72\00:13:15.36 What I'm saying is all you've got to do is look at how good God was when you are unfaithful. 00:13:15.39\00:13:21.86 It ought to give you the confidence that if you start acting with faith and trust in 00:13:21.90\00:13:27.64 God, that if he can uphold you in disbelief, won't God keep you when you start believing? 00:13:27.67\00:13:38.08 Are you all hearing today, saints. 00:13:38.11\00:13:41.08 [Congregation: Yes.] 00:13:41.12\00:13:43.08 Saints, there is something I want you to think about with this story. The last thing this 00:13:43.12\00:13:49.62 teaches us, friends of mine, is that sometimes, you got to learn not just to focus on the final 00:13:49.66\00:13:57.90 steps. Sometimes, there are something you can learn from those first steps. Most of us, 00:13:57.93\00:14:07.01 when we read the story and we see how Peter falls at the end, we consider it some negative 00:14:07.04\00:14:15.38 because Peter didn't make it all the way to Jesus. Watch this, 00:14:15.42\00:14:21.72 church. No matter what you say about Peter and how he fell 00:14:21.76\00:14:28.83 along the way, there ain't nobody else that ever walked on water besides Jesus, but the 00:14:28.86\00:14:38.64 Apostle Peter. Are you all with me? 00:14:38.67\00:14:40.74 I don't believe there'll be arguments in heaven, 00:14:40.78\00:14:44.78 but let's just say that when we got to heaven 00:14:44.81\00:14:51.05 and the old patriarchs wanted to have a debate about who is a part of the best miracle, 00:14:51.09\00:14:58.09 I think your boy Peter might have the upper hand. In other 00:14:58.13\00:15:02.83 words, man, I can see Moses standing up and say, you all ain't got nothing on me. 00:15:02.86\00:15:08.27 I opened up a Red Sea. But then Joshua stand up and say, "Moses, the Red Sea was standing still. 00:15:08.30\00:15:17.25 But I opened up the Jordan River when it was overflowing its 00:15:17.28\00:15:22.08 banks." And then maybe the three Hebrew boys would stand up and say, "I was in a fiery furnace. 00:15:22.12\00:15:29.49 "But then Daniel will stand up and say, "I was in the lion's den." Oh, you all not hearing 00:15:29.52\00:15:37.83 me. Maybe one of the disciples will stand up and say, "I heal the sick and the lame." 00:15:37.87\00:15:44.91 But then Paul would get in the conversation and say, "I had so 00:15:44.94\00:15:50.35 much anointing, that when I walk down the street and I will take the sick and the lame. When my 00:15:50.38\00:15:58.02 shadow fell upon them, the sick would get well and the lame would start dancing." 00:15:58.05\00:16:02.29 Maybe then Elijah will stand up and say, "I resurrected the 00:16:02.32\00:16:09.63 widow's son." But then Elijah will get it at and said, They put a dead man on my bones, 00:16:09.66\00:16:17.31 and that dead man got up and start running around." 00:16:17.34\00:16:22.41 And then Peter would stand up and say, "A lot of you all 00:16:22.44\00:16:26.92 healed. A lot of you all did miracles. A lot of you all did 00:16:26.95\00:16:32.09 resurrections. But there's only two that ever walked on water." He goes and stands next to the 00:16:32.12\00:16:40.96 lamb and let them know that only me and Jesus have walked on the 00:16:40.96\00:16:52.37 water. Watch this. Because one of them going to stand and will say, "Well, Peter, you walked on 00:16:52.41\00:16:59.58 water, but remember at the end, you failed." But then Peters go get some bass in his voice and 00:16:59.61\00:17:08.32 say, "I failed, but at least I tried." Why am I saying this? Because I think, saints, 00:17:08.36\00:17:16.63 we got to reframe the narrative around our failures. 00:17:16.67\00:17:21.90 We will only give props to those that make it to the destination. 00:17:21.94\00:17:27.78 I'm learning how to give some love to those that at least got the courage to get out of the 00:17:27.81\00:17:35.18 boat and walk for a little while, even if you don't make it the whole way. When Peter gets 00:17:35.22\00:17:44.03 to the shore, his conclusion is not that it was unrealistic to walk on water. Those final steps 00:17:44.06\00:17:55.24 don't dictate his thinking. Those first steps give him enough proof to know that it's 00:17:55.27\00:18:03.14 possible. Okay. What are you saying today, pastor? Because there's somebody who's looking 00:18:03.18\00:18:10.35 at failure in the wrong way. You're saying, "Well, pastor, I started out and the business did 00:18:10.39\00:18:17.76 good. After a while, it went into bankruptcy." We focus on 00:18:17.79\00:18:20.13 the final steps, but you ought to look at those first steps when it was doing good as proof 00:18:20.16\00:18:26.70 that you can do it again. Okay. Somebody is saying" Pastor, you don't realize me and my spouse. 00:18:26.74\00:18:34.31 We got in an argument last night." I need you to know that if you're arguing, at least the 00:18:34.34\00:18:41.15 doors of communication are open. Oh, good. It ain't dead because you're fighting. It ain't dead 00:18:41.18\00:18:46.29 until you stop fighting. Oh, where are you all at today, 00:18:46.32\00:18:48.26 church. There's somebody who's saying, "Pastor, I was walking good six months without drinking 00:18:48.29\00:18:53.50 or smoking, but I fell off the wagon." No, don't focus on the fact that you failed. Praise God 00:18:53.53\00:19:00.70 for the six months. The six months is the proof that you can do it again. Somebody say, 00:19:00.74\00:19:08.58 "Pastor, I lost weight." Guess what? I gained it back again. Guess what? Don't focus on the 00:19:08.61\00:19:14.52 fact that today they're back. Look at the fact that God helped you lose it in the first place. 00:19:14.55\00:19:22.32 If you can lose it one time, guess what? You can lose it again. Are you all hearing me 00:19:22.36\00:19:26.43 today, saints. There's somebody who's saying, "Pastor, we had a miscarriage at seven months." 00:19:26.46\00:19:30.67 But if you have a miscarriage at seven months, it means that God sustained you for seven months. 00:19:30.70\00:19:38.01 If God can get to the seven, next time, he'll get you to 00:19:38.04\00:19:42.54 nine. Sometimes, we look at how it ended as proof we should have never got out of the boat. 00:19:42.58\00:19:48.95 No, what you ought to conclude is that next time, as long as I keep my eyes on Jesus 00:19:48.98\00:19:55.56 and I don't let myself get distracted, every little step 00:19:55.59\00:20:02.60 that I take, I'm going to get a little closer and closer and 00:20:02.63\00:20:07.67 closer to Jesus. Some of you all laughed when you heard the 00:20:07.70\00:20:11.21 title. Because you know this was a Bobby Brown song, but Bobby Brown was talking about a woman. 00:20:11.24\00:20:16.81 Today, we're singing about Jesus. He said, "Every little step I take, you will be there. 00:20:16.85\00:20:24.92 Every little step I take, we'll be together." Is there anybody that knows that when you walk 00:20:24.95\00:20:32.66 with Jesus, every little step you take, he's going to be there? Every little step you 00:20:32.69\00:20:40.67 take, we're going to be together. How do you know, Pastor? He said, "I am with you 00:20:40.70\00:20:49.58 always even till the very end of the earth." He says, "When mother and father forsake you, 00:20:49.61\00:20:55.95 the Lord is going to take you in." He says, "All that come unto me, I will in no wise cast 00:20:55.98\00:21:04.39 you out. Every little step you take, I'm going to be there. Every little step you take, 00:21:04.43\00:21:09.83 we're going to be together. The Bible says that a just man falls seven times, but he rises up 00:21:09.86\00:21:20.28 again. Is there anybody that's fallen before, but you ought to say that I'm getting back up 00:21:20.31\00:21:26.51 again by the grace of God, by the might of God, by the power of God? I only may have had a 00:21:26.55\00:21:33.59 few good steps, but a few good steps is the proof that next time, I'm going all the way with 00:21:33.62\00:21:42.93 Jesus. Let the redeemed say hallelujah. 00:21:42.96\00:21:45.47 [Congregation: Clapping] 00:21:45.50\00:21:46.90 Pastor Snell: Praise God for every step that you take and 00:21:46.94\00:21:54.48 see. God is wanting somebody to get to a place where you don't focus just on the final steps. 00:21:54.51\00:22:02.42 Remember, Peter walked long enough to become arrogant. I need you to know that sometimes, 00:22:02.45\00:22:10.16 when you make a little progress and it falls down, sometimes you say, "Man, that was all for 00:22:10.19\00:22:21.17 nothing." Don't focus on the last steps where it went wrong. Look at all the progress you 00:22:21.20\00:22:31.11 made. Is there anybody that has this testimony where you can say like the old folk, "I'm not what 00:22:31.15\00:22:40.99 I ought to be, but I praise God that I'm better than what I used 00:22:41.02\00:22:46.73 to be." Guess what? You might have failed last night, but look at all the progress you made so 00:22:46.76\00:22:56.84 far. Those steps you made where you got some victory, where you overcame the drinking and you 00:22:56.87\00:23:02.84 overcame the smoke, and then you stayed away from him or her, or you walked away from that 00:23:02.88\00:23:08.75 particular temptation. When you failed, that doesn't mean it's all for nothing. Those steps 00:23:08.78\00:23:16.79 that you made in faith are the proof that next time, if you keep your eyes on Him and you 00:23:16.83\00:23:22.70 keep your hand in His hand, next time, you are going to go all the way in Jesus name. Let the 00:23:22.73\00:23:35.21 people of God say amen today. [singing] 00:23:35.24\00:23:36.98 Female Soloist: I try, but sometimes I fail. Now, I realized that I need Your help. 00:23:37.01\00:23:45.72 'Cause I can't make it all by myself. I need You, You, You. I should know by now there's no 00:23:45.75\00:24:02.30 way, no. How that I can live without You. Still get caught up in myself. I talk to You less 00:24:02.34\00:24:12.85 and less. But every time that I do, I come right back to You. But all my mistakes, I know that 00:24:12.88\00:24:23.69 I have to change. So I put my life in Your hands. 00:24:23.73\00:24:28.60 Choir: Because I try, but sometimes I fail. Now, I realized that I need Your help. 00:24:28.63\00:24:38.37 'Cause I can't make it all by myself. I need You, You, You. 00:24:38.41\00:24:48.62 Female Soloist: I wish I could undo some things that I have 00:24:48.65\00:25:00.36 done in my past. But I can't erase all the things that have taken place. So from now on, 00:25:00.40\00:25:11.31 I'll try to do my best. 'Cause after all my mistakes, I know that I have to change. So I put 00:25:11.34\00:25:21.62 my life in your hands. Ohhh. Choir: I try, but sometimes I fail. Now, I realized that I 00:25:21.65\00:25:37.10 need Your help because I can't make it all by myself.
