Sermon #S009 - (Every Little Step I Take - Part 1) 00:00:05.73\00:00:20.35 Pastor Snell: I just want to know how many of us, after 14 00:00:20.38\00:00:24.52 days, are still believing for something unrealistic in your 00:00:24.55\00:00:27.86 life. I just need to know who I want to aim this sermon at today. For those of you all who 00:00:27.89\00:00:34.10 just came to have church, this ain't for you. This is for those who are walking in the word 00:00:34.10\00:00:39.93 and are trusting God for some unrealistic outcomes this afternoon. Matthew 14:22. 00:00:39.97\00:00:47.84 Again, when you get there, just say Amen. The Bible says, 00:00:47.88\00:00:53.31 "Immediately, Jesus made the disciples get into the boat." I'm reading from the New 00:00:53.35\00:01:00.26 International Version. Let me switch that to the New King James, so that we are not out of 00:01:00.29\00:01:06.26 sync with those who are on the screen. Matthew 14, I'll begin again in verse 22. "Immediately, 00:01:06.29\00:01:12.53 Jesus made His disciples get into the boat and go before Him to the other side, while He sent 00:01:12.57\00:01:18.01 the multitudes away. And when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain by 00:01:18.04\00:01:23.18 Himself to pray. Now when evening came, He was alone there. But the boat was now in 00:01:23.21\00:01:29.12 the middle of the sea, tossed by the waves, for the wind was contrary. Now in the fourth 00:01:29.15\00:01:36.42 watch of the night, Jesus went to them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw Him 00:01:36.46\00:01:40.96 walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, 'It is a ghost!' And they cried out for 00:01:40.96\00:01:45.60 fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, 'Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be 00:01:45.63\00:01:52.04 afraid.'" "And Peter answered Him and said, 'Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You 00:01:52.07\00:01:59.85 on the water.' So He said, 'Come.' And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked 00:01:59.88\00:02:08.69 on the water to go to Jesus. But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and 00:02:08.72\00:02:16.53 beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, 'Lord, save me!' And immediately, Jesus stretched out 00:02:16.56\00:02:25.81 His hand and caught him, and said to him, 'O you of little faith, why did you doubt?' And 00:02:25.84\00:02:35.45 when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. Then those who were in the boat came and worshiped 00:02:35.48\00:02:42.86 Him, saying, 'Truly You are the Son of God.'" I want to read emphasis verse 31. "And 00:02:42.89\00:02:55.67 immediately, Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him..." Anybody thankful that the arm of 00:02:55.70\00:03:02.31 the Lord is not to short to save and His ear is not too dull to hear? "... and said to him," Oh, 00:03:02.34\00:03:15.09 this is what He's saying to us, Oakwood. "'O you of little faith, why did you doubt?' And 00:03:15.12\00:03:20.53 when they got into the boat, the wind ceased." Today, saints, I want to talk to you for a little 00:03:20.56\00:03:29.24 while under the subject Every Little Step I Take. Every Little Step I Take. Father, I pray that 00:03:29.27\00:03:41.88 You would cause Your spirit to be so dense in this place, that every other principality would 00:03:41.92\00:03:46.82 be suffocated. Father, I'm praying that Your strength would be perfected in my human 00:03:46.86\00:03:52.09 weakness. Lord, You said to us in Your word that faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the 00:03:52.13\00:03:59.10 word of God. Lord, we are just tired of ordinary church 00:03:59.13\00:04:04.77 services. We don't want this service to be bound by the order 00:04:04.81\00:04:08.61 of service. We want it to be guided by the hand of Your 00:04:08.64\00:04:11.88 spirit. Lord, would You please hide me in the shadows of the cross that Jesus alone might be 00:04:11.91\00:04:18.45 seen, that Christ alone would be heard? At the end of our time together, may Jesus alone be 00:04:18.49\00:04:24.76 praised. We pray it in the name of Him who is altogether lovely. It is in the name of Jesus that 00:04:24.79\00:04:31.50 we pray. Let God's people say together amen. 00:04:31.53\00:04:33.07 [Congregation: Amen.] 00:04:33.10\00:04:34.24 Amen. You may be seated in the house of the Lord today. 00:04:34.27\00:04:36.20 Again, talking under the subject Every Little Step I Take. 00:04:36.24\00:04:45.65 Bear with me those who were on the prayer line earlier as I want to reinforce something. 00:04:45.68\00:04:52.72 The most important player in the game of football is a position player called the quarterback. 00:04:52.75\00:05:02.50 What makes a strong quarterback is not just a powerful or 00:05:02.53\00:05:09.00 accurate arm. What makes a good quarterback is the ability to keep his focus downfield. 00:05:09.04\00:05:16.31 So that once he has received the ball, the defense begins to rush the quarterback in an attempt to 00:05:16.34\00:05:25.29 tackle him. Understand, friends of mine, that the quarterback is able to feel the rush. He is 00:05:25.32\00:05:35.63 able to be aware of the rush, but he is never supposed to start looking at the rush. 00:05:35.66\00:05:40.17 What makes him great is that he's aware of it, but he keeps his focus downfield. 00:05:40.20\00:05:47.11 What allows the quarterback to keep his focus downfield is when 00:05:47.14\00:05:54.02 he gets to a point where he's able to trust his protection. 00:05:54.05\00:05:57.39 The quarterback is protected by some offense of linemen who are standing in front of him, 00:05:57.42\00:06:04.49 blocking every step along the way. And so, even though he is 00:06:04.53\00:06:10.27 aware of the rush, he is able to keep his eyes downfield because he trusts that his protection 00:06:10.30\00:06:17.21 has his back. I guess what I'm saying to us, saints, is that as we continue to walk by faith, 00:06:17.24\00:06:23.11 how many of us know that the devil is going to send a rush your way? He's going to send a 00:06:23.14\00:06:31.42 rush financially. He's going to send a rush emotionally. He's going to send a rush of enemies. 00:06:31.45\00:06:37.16 He's going to send a rush of sickness. 00:06:37.19\00:06:39.93 As a believer, I've got to be able to feel the rush without looking at the rush. 00:06:39.96\00:06:46.27 The reason I'm able to stop looking at the rush is because I trust my protection. 00:06:46.30\00:06:54.04 Is there anybody that knows that the angel of the Lord encamps about those that fear Him. 00:06:54.08\00:07:01.35 In other words, you've got angels blocking for you. And so, you've got to not worry about 00:07:01.38\00:07:08.62 the rush. You can keep your eyes on the goal, which is Jesus Christ. I don't focus on the 00:07:08.66\00:07:18.43 problem. I look unto Jesus, who is the author and the finisher of our faith. Can the church say 00:07:18.47\00:07:23.41 amen today? [Congregation: Amen.] 00:07:23.44\00:07:25.37 I want us to look quickly back at the story that we have been studying in the last couple of 00:07:25.41\00:07:30.35 weeks because there are some final things that Jesus wants to say. My prayer today, saints, 00:07:30.38\00:07:36.35 is that this word would be a steroid shot for your faith. In fact, this message is, really, 00:07:36.38\00:07:46.53 cannot be contained in one sermon. 00:07:46.56\00:07:49.13 The first thing we're going to learn today is that you will never be able to take a step of 00:07:49.16\00:07:55.90 faith until you're clear about who's sustaining you. Let me say 00:07:55.94\00:07:59.77 it again. That you will never be able to step in faith until you're clear on who's sustaining 00:07:59.81\00:08:07.02 you. Now, remember last week we learned that Peter gets out of 00:08:07.05\00:08:12.79 the boat and begins walking on the word to Jesus Christ. 00:08:12.82\00:08:18.26 Now, the question that too many of us have when we look at this story is why did Peter began to 00:08:18.29\00:08:27.87 doubt? What baffles my mind is not why did Peter begin to doubt. My question is why did 00:08:27.90\00:08:40.42 the eleven remain in the boat? In other words, when they see Peter walking on the water, 00:08:40.45\00:08:48.72 there should have been an exodus from the boat. I like to think that if I was on the boat, I 00:08:48.76\00:08:56.56 would be like, "Lord, bid me to come to You also on the water." In other words, I'd like to 00:08:56.60\00:09:05.17 believe that real believers would want to share in the miracle that Peter is walking 00:09:05.21\00:09:13.28 in. But you will never make a single step in faith until you have clarity about who's 00:09:13.31\00:09:21.52 sustaining you. The problem is, in this moment, we think the only miracle has been done for 00:09:21.56\00:09:29.93 Peter. Remember now that God has been doing a miracle for the twelve all night long. You 00:09:29.96\00:09:40.58 realize that there is no way that this tiny fishing boat could survive a storm of that 00:09:40.61\00:09:45.35 magnitude, unless the hand of the Lord had been sustaining it. In other words, remember that 00:09:45.38\00:09:49.92 Jesus is watching from the shore. My favorite author says that the watchful eye of Jesus 00:09:49.95\00:09:57.33 was on the boat all night long. I believe that God managed the storm so that storm's intensity 00:09:57.36\00:10:07.60 could never be greater than their capacity. I need somebody to get that the same hand that 00:10:07.64\00:10:17.61 is holding up Peter is the same hand that is holding up the boat. When Peter steps out of 00:10:17.65\00:10:23.52 the boat, He simply holds Peter without the vessel, the same way He did when he was in the 00:10:23.55\00:10:30.36 vessel. How many of us know that every now and then, God has to remove the vessel, so that we 00:10:30.39\00:10:37.33 realize that our safety is not in the vessel, but our safety is in the hands of the Almighty 00:10:37.37\00:10:42.04 God. Somebody's got to get to a place where you stop swearing loyalty to the vessel, 00:10:42.07\00:10:48.11 where you stop putting trust in the boat, but you realize that if God was keeping you in the 00:10:48.14\00:10:54.38 boat, then God can keep you when there is no boats. 00:10:54.42\00:10:58.35 The reason this is critical is because there's going to come seasons, where in order to 00:10:58.39\00:11:05.99 stretch your faith, God is going to remove the vessel so that you learn how to stand up in Him. 00:11:06.03\00:11:15.44 Every now and then, God has to bring you to a place where you realize that He is your source 00:11:15.47\00:11:25.05 and He is your security. Unrealistic faith will not become possible until you 00:11:25.08\00:11:33.62 established Christ as your security. In other words, as long as you think the boat is 00:11:33.66\00:11:38.56 what's holding you, you will have more loyalty to the vessel than you do to Jesus Christ. Can 00:11:38.59\00:11:45.27 you say amen? In other words, church, hear me that if God could sustain you in a job, 00:11:45.30\00:11:51.41 guess what? God can sustain you when you lose a job. If God was able to supply financial aid, 00:11:51.44\00:11:59.01 then God will get you through school when the financial aid 00:11:59.05\00:12:03.45 runs out. If God was able to sustain you when the stimulus 00:12:03.49\00:12:08.86 came, guess what? He'll still keep you now that the stimulus 00:12:08.89\00:12:12.09 has gone away. If God was able to keep the business at one location, He'll be able to keep 00:12:12.13\00:12:19.63 the business at another location. If God was able to keep you in the apartment, guess 00:12:19.67\00:12:23.97 what? God is able to bless you now that you've got a mortgage. 00:12:24.01\00:12:27.04 The reason this is important is because somebody is about to 00:12:27.08\00:12:33.08 transition. Somebody's about to go to the next level. Somebody's about to go to the higher plane. 00:12:33.11\00:12:39.35 Understand, you can't get to the higher level in the boat. 00:12:39.39\00:12:43.86 You can only get to the higher level in the hand of Jesus. 00:12:43.89\00:12:48.13 God has got to grow us to a place where we never confuse the vehicle that God sent with the 00:12:48.16\00:12:56.94 victory He wants to provide. Are you all hearing me today, 00:12:56.97\00:12:59.47 church? [Congregation: Clapping] 00:12:59.51\00:13:01.11 Okay. Let me say it this way. 00:13:01.14\00:13:02.61 Listen man, I remember when I was first teaching my oldest son 00:13:02.64\00:13:06.31 how to swim. You know how it is when when it was first teaching them. I would lay him on his 00:13:06.35\00:13:13.05 belly in my hands and I would put the flotation devices around 00:13:13.09\00:13:17.09 his arms. He would learn how to maneuver in the water as I was holding him in my hands. 00:13:17.13\00:13:22.50 After a certain point, Malcolm, I begin to remove the flotation 00:13:22.53\00:13:27.74 devices. What happens is he got nervous once the flotation devices were removed. 00:13:27.77\00:13:33.07 He was scared to be upheld in daddy's hand. 00:13:33.11\00:13:36.54 I need you to know. I got a little bit in my feelings because I needed him to know, 00:13:36.58\00:13:42.12 son, that the flotation devices weren't holding you. It was my hand that was sustaining you. 00:13:42.15\00:13:48.42 The flotation device was for your comfort, but it was my hand that was keeping you up. 00:13:48.46\00:13:54.66 How many of us know you are not ever get used to what's comforting you when it's the 00:13:54.73\00:14:01.74 hand of God that's keeping you. It is God that is holding you up. Are you hearing me today, 00:14:01.77\00:14:07.81 saints? The second thing, friends of mine, that this text teaches us is that sometimes, 00:14:07.84\00:14:13.18 faith is fluid. One thing about unrealistic faith is that unrealistic faith never 00:14:13.21\00:14:26.76 plateaus. Unrealistic faith never levels off. 00:14:26.80\00:14:31.30 They'll never be a time in unrealistic faith where you get to a place where you can say, 00:14:31.33\00:14:38.11 "I'm straight. I have made it. I'm good from here." I need you to get that when you make one 00:14:38.14\00:14:46.21 step of faith, each step has to get bigger from there or you're 00:14:46.25\00:14:52.89 destined to sink. In other words, believers are called to believe on an escalating scale 00:14:52.92\00:14:59.43 of belief, where I have to trust God in a more dependent way the further I abide in him. Are you 00:14:59.46\00:15:07.50 with me today, saints? I need somebody to get this - that faith is never stagnant. That 00:15:07.54\00:15:13.74 faith is never stationary. That faith, Dr. Jones said last week, is like a muscle that has to be 00:15:13.78\00:15:22.05 constantly used or else it's going to become weakened through a lack of activity. Are you 00:15:22.08\00:15:27.82 hearing me today? The thing I need somebody to get is that faith can be so fluid 00:15:27.86\00:15:34.46 and dynamic that somebody like Peter can go from walking on water to sinking in the same 00:15:34.46\00:15:44.84 minute, so that you can reach the peak of your faith and the valley of your faith in the same 00:15:44.87\00:15:53.05 season of your life. In other words, saints. 00:15:53.08\00:15:54.92 I need you to get that the fluidity of faith is actually a pattern that you see in 00:15:54.95\00:16:00.39 scripture. What do you mean, Pastor? One moment, we see Elijah standing in faith, 00:16:00.42\00:16:07.86 calling fire down from heaven. The next moment, when Jezebel doesn't retreat, he is under a 00:16:07.93\00:16:15.04 juniper tree longing for death. One moment, we find Israel with tambourines after God opened the 00:16:15.07\00:16:20.91 Red Sea. The next moment when there is no food, they are saying, "We never should have 00:16:20.94\00:16:26.41 left Egypt." One moment, John the Baptist is saying, "Behold the Lamb of God which takes away 00:16:26.45\00:16:33.42 the sin of the world." The next time we see him, he's asking, "Are you the one or should we 00:16:33.46\00:16:40.70 begin to look for another?" One moment, Abraham is leaving his father and mother in faith. The 00:16:40.73\00:16:48.57 next moment when the promise is delayed, he's lying about who his wife is and taking Hagar to 00:16:48.60\00:16:54.28 bed. One moment, Noah is high as he gets on the arc, but after they are delivered, 00:16:54.31\00:16:59.38 he gets drunk and depressed and starts cursing in his tent. 00:16:59.41\00:17:03.39 I guess what I need somebody to know is that the faith of yesterday is not sufficient for 00:17:03.42\00:17:12.03 the trial of today. [Congregation: Clapping] 00:17:12.06\00:17:13.70 I need somebody to get this that unrealistic faith doesn't function in the past tense. 00:17:13.73\00:17:21.90 Here, Peter is, as he begins to walk on the word, I need you to know that with every little step 00:17:21.94\00:17:31.48 he takes, his faith begins to gain a little more traction. Now, I need you to see this, 00:17:31.51\00:17:37.15 friends, in your mind's eye because there is no way that Peter's faith can plateau as he 00:17:37.19\00:17:45.56 is moving toward Jesus. Okay. So that the second steps required a little more faith than the first 00:17:45.59\00:17:56.97 step. That when he gets 10 feet from the boat, it required more faith than when he was five feet 00:17:57.01\00:18:04.68 from the boat. That step 20 required more faith than step 19. That the further he gets 00:18:04.71\00:18:12.39 from the boat, the more he's got to have belief that God is able 00:18:12.42\00:18:16.29 to keep him. So that the step that he takes at step 40 is not sufficient, but are based on the 00:18:16.32\00:18:24.73 faith he had at step 35. I guess what I'm saying is the reason that some of us are about to 00:18:24.77\00:18:30.81 sink is because we're trying to take today's step with yesterday's faith. Where you all 00:18:30.84\00:18:36.61 at today, church? In other words, how many of us know that in order to see God move in this 00:18:36.64\00:18:42.58 season, you've got to have a faith that is fresh for right now. Are you all hearing me, 00:18:42.62\00:18:49.49 saints? Have you ever noticed something that when a lot of people talk about the power of 00:18:49.52\00:18:56.00 God and they're giving their testimony about the things God 00:18:56.03\00:19:00.30 has done, have you ever noticed that their point of reference is always 20 years ago? 00:19:00.34\00:19:07.71 In other words, whenever they talk about the greatest moments of their life with God, 00:19:07.74\00:19:13.11 their reference is always in the '70s, the '80s, or the '90s. 00:19:13.15\00:19:18.19 How many of us know that some of us ought to have a right now testimony of the goodness and 00:19:18.22\00:19:27.66 the power of God. Remember when God sent Moses, He didn't say, "Tell them the I was sent you." 00:19:27.66\00:19:33.67 He said, "Tell them that the I am sent you see." That's why David says that God is my refuge 00:19:33.70\00:19:43.48 and my strength. He is a very present help in the time of 00:19:43.51\00:19:47.62 trouble. I just need to know. Do I have at least seven folks in the room that have a right now 00:19:47.65\00:19:54.86 testimony? Where the times God answered prayer is not always in the past tense, but God is 00:19:54.89\00:20:03.50 answering some prayers now. God is opening doors now. God is 00:20:03.53\00:20:09.24 making a way now. We've got to get to a place where we're not always looking at what God used 00:20:09.27\00:20:14.98 to do, but we're thankful for what God is doing right now. Are you hearing me, saints? 00:20:15.01\00:20:19.91 [Congregation: Clapping] 00:20:19.95\00:20:21.92 The reason that some of us ain't seen God move in 20 years is because we ain't made a step in 00:20:21.95\00:20:32.13 20 years. Okay. In other words, I know you didn't got comfortable giving 10% plus 5, 00:20:32.16\00:20:41.07 but in order to grow, you got to make another step in your stewardship. I know you and your 00:20:41.10\00:20:47.54 boo, you all comfortable in your marriage, but how many of us know you got room to grow? You 00:20:47.58\00:20:52.88 got to make another step in your marriage. I know you're comfortable where the business 00:20:52.91\00:20:57.85 is now, but in order for the franchise, you got to make another step in your faith. I 00:20:57.89\00:21:03.66 know you have enough faith to get you here to Oakwood, but you need to make some more steps in 00:21:03.69\00:21:09.00 order to get through your time here at Oakwood. What I'm saying to somebody is don't get so 00:21:09.03\00:21:14.24 comfortable with where God was, that you miss out on where God is right now. Are you all 00:21:14.27\00:21:21.01 hearing the world today, saints? I'm at a place, friends of mine, where I don't believe that my 00:21:21.04\00:21:28.55 best days spiritually ought to be behind me. I believe that the latter day out to be greater 00:21:28.58\00:21:34.26 than the former day. The Bible says that the end of a thing are to be better than the beginning 00:21:34.29\00:21:39.73 of a thing. The word says that the path of the just is like the shining sun getting brighter 00:21:39.76\00:21:45.27 and brighter as we get to the glorious day. 00:21:45.30\00:21:48.14 Do I have at least some folk who is saying, "I don't want my peak season to be in a past season. 00:21:48.17\00:21:54.74 I want my peak season to be right now. I want to be in the peak of health right now. 00:21:54.78\00:22:01.38 I want to be in the peak of prayer right now. I want to be in the peak of ministry right 00:22:01.42\00:22:07.59 now. I don't want the best days to be behind me. I want to walk in that anointing right now." 00:22:07.62\00:22:15.06 Can the church say amen today? 00:22:15.10\00:22:18.70 I need you to know you got to get to a place where you continue to update your faith 00:22:18.73\00:22:22.67 and keep your trust abiding in Jesus. What do you say? 00:22:22.70\00:22:26.68 Third thing this teachers is that unrealistic faith has to 00:22:26.71\00:22:37.05 remain focused. Now, this is an interesting little situation. Peter is doing so good as he 00:22:37.09\00:22:59.54 walks on the water to Jesus Christ. It's amazing how the Bible says that he is disrupted 00:22:59.57\00:23:10.32 when he sees the waves boisterous and out of control. Now, the thing I need you to 00:23:10.35\00:23:23.26 understand, saints, is that it was storming when Peter first got out of the boat. It was 00:23:23.30\00:23:31.41 storming on the first step. It was storming on the 10th step. It was storming on the 30th 00:23:31.44\00:23:37.78 step. Nothing outside of Peter changed, but its focus. There was something I put in the book 00:23:37.81\00:23:42.78 that I don't think most of us got. I need you to understand that the storm could not sink 00:23:42.82\00:23:47.49 Peter. The only thing the storm could do was distract Peter. As long as Peter is standing on the 00:23:47.52\00:23:56.77 word, the waves cannot overtake him. As long as he's standing in the invitation, the wind cannot 00:23:56.80\00:24:04.37 knock him down. I need you to know that he is on solid ground. As long as he stands in the 00:24:04.41\00:24:13.01 word, the storm can't sink him. Oh, I feel a praise in my spirit right now. God just wanted me to 00:24:13.05\00:24:21.46 let somebody know who's in a stormy season, as long as you stand on the word, I need you to 00:24:21.49\00:24:31.87 know the storm can't touch you. Somebody's in a marital storm. There is somebody in a financial 00:24:31.90\00:24:37.14 storm. There is somebody in a medical storm. Your children are in a behavior storm. What I need 00:24:37.17\00:24:44.61 you to know is that as long as you stand on the word, the wind cannot overtake you. The floods 00:24:44.65\00:24:49.75 can't bring you under. The word says that even when the enemy comes like a flood, 00:24:49.78\00:24:54.59 the spirit of the Lord is going to raise up a standard against him. Are you hear me today, 00:24:54.62\00:25:05.17 saints? I started asking myself some questions. If the storm knows that it can't beat Jesus, 00:25:05.20\00:25:17.35 if it knows he can't get Peter, why don't he just quit? If the storm knows I ain't no master 00:25:17.38\00:25:30.46 Jesus. The storm knows I can't take down Peter. Why doesn't he just go back the way he came? 00:25:30.49\00:25:37.53 Remember the storm's goal isn't to sink Peter. If he can just 00:25:37.57\00:25:48.28 distract Peter, if he can just take his eyes of Jesus momentarily, he knows that Peter 00:25:48.31\00:25:58.69 will essentially sink himself. Are you all hearing me today? 00:25:58.72\00:26:01.72 I need us to understand, beloved, the purpose of trials and satanic attack. 00:26:01.76\00:26:06.43 You all need to know the devil ain't no fool. 00:26:06.46\00:26:08.90 He knows that the angel of the Lord encamps about those that 00:26:08.93\00:26:14.14 fear Him. The devil knows that the weapons formed against you will not be able to prosper. 00:26:14.17\00:26:19.87 He knows he can't have your health. He knows he can't have your kids. He knows that he 00:26:19.91\00:26:27.45 can't touch your life. Listen, when he came for Job, do you remember what God said? He says, 00:26:27.48\00:26:34.79 "Have you considered my servant Job?" Do you remember what the devil said? The devil said, "No. 00:26:34.82\00:26:41.53 I know who he is. You got a hedge about his house, about his life and about everything he 00:26:41.56\00:26:49.00 has." How did the devil know that job had a hedge? Because he had already come for Job, but 00:26:49.04\00:27:00.92 the hedge kept him and made the devil so that he could not touch him. The devil knows that he 00:27:00.95\00:27:07.86 can't take you under. But like the storm, he knows if he makes enough noise, if he sends a 00:27:07.89\00:27:18.53 little lightning, if he sends the rush you way, if he can get you to start looking at the rush 00:27:18.57\00:27:24.27 and stop focusing on Jesus, he knows that he can take you down. This is why, friends of mine, 00:27:24.31\00:27:30.21 it's so critical that we spend this week mastering our distractions.
