00:01 (Theme Song) Jesus is worthy oh yes,
00:12 he's worthy worthy of all... 00:17 all the praise. 00:20 Pastor Byrd: We look at our subject tonight 00:22 and yes, we're going to talk about what you put in your body, 00:26 what you put on your body, and what you let people 00:30 do to your body. 00:31 Come on, say amen. 00:32 Our bodies are God's temples and that's what we're going 00:37 to discuss tonight. 00:38 And with that in mind, let's get started 00:40 with the Word of God. 00:42 Take your Bibles and repeat after me, as we do every 00:44 night. 00:45 Every promise in this book is mine. 00:47 Aud.: Every promise in this book is mine. 00:49 PB: Every chapter, every verse, every line. 00:51 Aud.: Every chapter, every verse, every line. 00:53 PB: I am saved by His grace divine. 00:55 Aud.: I am saved by His grace divine. 00:57 PB: Every promise in this book is mine. 00:59 Aud.: Every promise in this book is mine. 01:01 PB: Father in heaven, we thank You tonight 01:03 for bringing us once again to study Your Word as we 01:06 are enlightened through this revival. 01:09 We pray and ask for Your power and Your Spirit 01:11 to speak to us, through us. 01:14 In the name of Jesus we pray, every night. 01:18 Amen. 01:19 Does everyone like to eat? 01:21 If you like to eat, let me hear you say amen. 01:23 Aud.: Amen. 01:24 PB: If you like to eat real good, let me hear you say 01:27 amen. 01:28 Aud.: Amen. 01:29 PB: Well, I pray after tonight you still enjoy 01:31 eating. 01:32 Come on, say amen. 01:33 Aud.: Amen. 01:34 PB: Tonight, as we begin, it's very interesting, in our 01:36 country today you hear a lot about our bodies. 01:38 You hear a lot about exercise. 01:40 In fact, the president of our country, his wife is on this 01:42 big initiative fighting child obesity. 01:47 I did a little research and found out that 40 million 01:50 people in the United States. 01:52 And so we have a population here in this country, 01:55 documented population of 300 million. 01:57 Forty of the 300 million belong to 26,000 health 02:03 clubs. 02:04 In fact, when you go into a hotel today and you stay 02:08 in a hotel, there are several amenities that you look 02:12 into having at that hotel. 02:14 One, everyone wants to know do you have wifi. 02:17 Then another question is asked, do you have a flat 02:20 screen TV? 02:21 Do you have a business center? 02:23 But then I've discovered that one of the biggest questions 02:25 that potential guests at a hotel might have, 02:29 or the questions they might have. 02:31 Do you have a health club? 02:34 Today you'll go into apartment complexes, and one 02:37 of the things you'll ask is what amenities do you have. 02:39 Do you have a health club? 02:43 People today are more concerned about their health 02:48 than ever before. 02:50 People are so concerned about their health, that's why we 02:52 have all this discussion, all this debate, about the 02:55 Affordable Care Act, because people want to be able to get 02:59 health care. 03:01 Well, nothing in recent years seems to have improved 03:05 the health of people as much as the increasing cost 03:09 of being sick. 03:11 It appears that our health is more valuable to us after 03:16 we lose it. 03:18 You see, it's when we go to the doctor, and the doctor 03:20 tells us we have high blood pressure, or the doctor tells 03:22 us we have to exercise. 03:23 That's when we think, hey, we've got to get this thing 03:26 under control, because if we don't get this thing under 03:29 control something bad is going to happen. 03:32 But unfortunately, by the time most people discover 03:35 that good health is everything, they've already lost it. 03:40 But many people suffer from poor health, not because 03:44 of what they eat but because of what is eating them. 03:49 So tonight, let me quickly give you some counsel. 03:52 The only way to keep your good health is to eat what 03:57 you don't like, drink what you don't like, and do 04:02 what you'd rather not do. 04:04 So let's practice that. 04:05 Repeat after me. 04:06 Say, eat what you don't like. 04:08 Aud.: Eat what you don't like. 04:10 PB: Drink what you don't like. 04:12 Aud.: Drink what you don't like. 04:14 PB: And do what you'd rather not do. 04:17 Aud.: Do what you'd rather not do. 04:19 PB: Now, any physician, any doctor will tell you that. 04:22 But tonight I want you to save your money, save 04:24 the co-pay so you can put it in the offering after 04:27 the revival. 04:28 Come on, say amen. 04:29 And go to the Word of God. 04:32 The Bible has everything that we need. 04:36 Can you say amen? 04:37 You will remember, in Jesus' ministry, His ministry 04:40 was not just preaching, His ministry was not just 04:44 teaching, but His ministry was also healing. 04:46 It was also what, everybody? 04:47 Aud.: Healing. 04:48 PB: Which means that God created us, and because God 04:51 created us God knows what's best for us. 04:56 Do you believe that tonight? 04:57 Do you believe that God knows what's best for us? 04:59 If you believe that, turn with me to the book of First 05:02 Corinthians. 05:03 What book did I say, everybody? 05:05 Aud.: First Corinthians. 05:06 PB: And let's go to 1 Corinthians, 05:08 and we're going to chapter 10. 05:09 And let's go to verse number 31. 05:11 This text is our premise for tonight. 05:13 First Corinthians chapter 10, and we're going to verse 05:15 number 31. 05:16 First Corinthians chapter 10, and we're going to verse 05:21 number 31. 05:22 The Word of God says to us in 1 Corinthians 10:31. 05:25 If you have it, let me hear you say amen. 05:27 Aud.: Amen. 05:28 PB: The Word says tonight, 1 Corinthians 10:31, "Whether 05:31 therefore ye," what? 05:32 Aud.: Eat. 05:33 PB: Come on, whether therefore ye what? 05:35 Aud.: Eat. 05:36 PB: Eat or what? 05:37 Aud.: Drink. 05:38 PB: "Or whatsoever ye," what? 05:39 Aud.: Do. 05:40 PB: "Do all to the glory of," whom, everybody? 05:42 Aud.: God. 05:43 PB: Let's try it one more time. 05:44 "Whether therefore ye" what? 05:45 Aud.: Eat. 05:46 PB: Eat or what? 05:47 Aud.: Drink. 05:48 PB: "Or whatsoever ye" what? 05:49 Aud.: Do. 05:50 PB: "Do all to the glory of" whom, everybody? 05:52 Aud.: God. 05:53 PB: Now, number one, we begin tonight recognizing our bodies 05:55 are God's temples. 05:56 Our bodies are God's temples. 05:58 So, as followers of Jesus Christ we then have to watch 06:02 what we put in our bodies. 06:04 Our body is God's temple. 06:06 Go to 1 Corinthians 6. 06:08 Let's go to chapter 6. 06:09 First Corinthians chapter 6, and the Word of God says in 06:13 verses 19 and 20, "What? 06:15 know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost 06:18 which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 06:22 For ye are bought with a," what, everybody? 06:24 Aud.: Price. 06:25 PB: Come one, "Ye are bought with a" what, everybody? 06:28 Aud.: Price. 06:29 PB: Price. 06:30 "Therefore glorify God in your body, and in your 06:32 spirit, which are God's." 06:33 So now, because our body is God's temple, I want you 06:36 to repeat after me, because tonight I want you to memorize 06:39 this little chorus we're going to say, so that all week 06:42 long you'll be able to say this. 06:44 All right, together, after me. 06:45 This is my body. 06:46 Aud.: This is my body. 06:47 PB: Come on, say it like you mean it. 06:50 This is my body. 06:51 Aud.: This is my body. 06:52 PB: God's holy temple. 06:53 Aud.: God's holy temple. 06:54 PB: I've been bought with a price. 06:56 Aud.: I've been bought with a price. 06:58 PB: And I glorify Him. 06:59 Aud.: And I glorify Him. 07:01 PB: One more time. 07:02 This is my body. 07:03 Aud.: This is my body. 07:04 PB: God's holy temple. 07:05 Aud.: God's holy temple. 07:06 PB: I've been bought with a price. 07:08 Aud.: I've been bought with a price. 07:10 PB: And I glorify Him. 07:11 Aud.: And I glorify Him. 07:12 PB: Now, understand, our bodies are holy. 07:14 Just like the Sabbath is holy, our bodies are holy. 07:16 God has set our bodies aside. 07:19 Those who destroy God's temple will be destroyed. 07:24 Go to First Corinthians chapter 3. 07:26 And we're going to verse number 16. 07:29 First Corinthians chapter 3 and verse number 16 and 17. 07:34 First Corinthians chapter 3, verses 16 and 17. 07:38 The Word of God says, "Know ye not that ye 07:41 are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of," whom? 07:44 Aud.: God. 07:45 PB: Come on, the Spirit of whom? 07:47 Aud.: God. 07:48 PB: "Dwelleth in you? 07:49 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God 07:51 destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple 07:56 ye are." 07:57 So, because our bodies are God's temple, because 07:59 our bodies are holy, we cannot destroy our bodies. 08:03 Are you hearing what I'm saying? 08:05 We cannot destroy our bodies, because if the Spirit of God 08:08 is living in us, then the spirit of something else can't live 08:12 in us at the same time the Spirit of God is in us. 08:16 Aud.: Amen. 08:17 PB: So, what we put in our bodies, what we put in our 08:24 bodies, number one: we've got to leave wine, beer, alcohol, 08:36 whiskey. 08:40 We've got to leave it alone. 08:41 It's getting quiet in here. 08:43 [Aud. reaction] PB: We've got 08:45 to leave it alone. 08:51 Now, a doctor is going to tell you that. 08:53 I know somebody has heard, well, a little wine is good 08:55 for the soul. 08:56 That's not what the Bible says. 08:58 You've got to leave it alone. 09:01 You've got to leave it what, everybody? 09:03 Aud.: Alone. 09:04 PB: Now again, we don't go by what Pastor Byrd says. 09:06 We go by what the Word of God says. 09:08 Take your Bibles and go to the book of Proverbs. 09:10 What book, everybody? 09:43 Aud.: Mocker. 09:44 PB: Come on, wine is a what? 09:45 Aud.: Mocker. 09:46 PB: "Strong drink" is what? 09:47 Aud.: Raging. 09:48 PB: "And whosoever is deceived thereby is not" 09:50 what? 09:51 Aud.: Wise. 09:52 PB: All right. 09:53 You hear, well, wine is good for the soul. 09:55 God says wine is a what?
