this passage by telling us two

tells us in verse number 31,

word"--and I'm going to need

today. Look at verse 31-

word, then are ye my disciples."

If you continue in My

which means discipleship
is tied to your obedience

All this talk about love,

opposite of the truth is a lie.

no truth in him. But Jesus
begins this passage by saying,

number one, that there
is a relationship between

discipleship and
obedience. And then He goes on

and says there's a
relationship between obedience

and being set free. Which
means every disciple is free,

but every church member
isn't. Let me say that again.

Every disciple is free,
but every church member isn't.

Church membership doesn't
always mean true discipleship,

of people who have their

They come to church bound.

Jesus does, that salt is
not only a pervasive seasoning,

but salt is also an important
method of food preservation.

Salt, as you know, decays--or
retards--the decaying process.

salt, tastes like salt,

but it's not salt.
There are a lot of folk

that look like
disciples, walk like disciples,

talk and teach like
disciples, pray like disciples.

They can even praise
like disciples. But they

aren't disciples
because remember, the true test

sin." Then in verse 35,

A slave is transient, who
can't come and go at will.

The Son, though, has
an established position,

Now these two verses teach

us that there's a
direct correlation between our

freedom and the way we
live. Because the way you

live greatly impacts
your ability to be free.

If you choose to live a
sinful life, you're bound.

If you choose a
sinful life, you're enslaved.

And anything that
goes against God is sin.

There are no big sins
and little sins. Sin is sin.

hierarchy of sin. Sin is sin.

all have sinned and come

then the Bible says this:

The wages of sin is

you sin, something dies.

When Adam and Eve
sinned, something began to die.

And so what the
devil will try to do is,

on the installment plan.

Because there is some
stuff in your life that

That's somebody right
now. When you look back

over your life, and

lost back in your
early days because of sin.

And when you get

you continue in sin,
you become a servant of sin.

The Greek for the
word servant is "dulos,"

which means a
slave. So then in the text,

a servant is a slave,
a slave to sin who obeys

a master. But rather
than obey God, you obey sin.

Whosoever committeth
sin is a servant of sin.

says that the servant,

and bad habits, hatred,

know on Communion Sabbath
