00:01 BREATH OF LIFE MINISTRIES PRESENTS:
00:06 SERMON B555 THE Sabbath
00:12 [BREATH OF LIFE THEME MUSIC]
00:20 PB: Father, in the name of Jesus, through the intercession
00:21 of the Holy Spirit, come in this place tonight.
00:23 God, we have been ministered to through song and through fellowship,
00:28 but Lord, we need a word from You. So God, this is not a popular word,
00:33 it's not an easy word, but God, I trust You tonight,
00:36 and I'm going to do what you told me to do. God,
00:40 I'm going to cry aloud and spare not,
00:42 because Your people need to hear Your word,
00:44 because Lord, we want to be saved.
00:46 We want to be saved when You come.
00:49 So God, any demonic imp that's seeking
00:53 entrance in this place tonight,
00:56 in the name of Jesus stop them right now.
00:58 Any demonic distraction that is trying to
01:01 gain entrance in this sanctuary,
01:03 in Jesus' name stop them right now.
01:07 Lord, I'm a child of the King.
01:09 God, we're a royal priesthood, a chosen generation.
01:13 You're calling us out of darkness into Your marvelous light.
01:17 So move in this place we pray. And God,
01:21 I promise that we will give You the praise,
01:23 the honor, and the glory for what You're going
01:28 to do tonight. So give us open minds,
01:31 give us receptive hearts, and may Thy people
01:35 not see me but see Thee living, and living and
01:38 speaking through me; that people not hear my voice,
01:42 but God, they would hear Your voice. Because Lord,
01:45 when Your people hear Your voice, because God said it,
01:49 that settles it. So may Your people hear Your voice tonight,
01:52 we pray. It's in Jesus' name we pray this pray
01:57 and we ask these things. Let everyone say amen.
02:00 Aud.: Amen. PB: And amen. All right,
02:03 let's go to the Word tonight. Let's go straight to the Word.
02:05 Now, I'm going to give you a lot of texts tonight.
02:07 Because I love you, what I did was, I typed up all the texts.
02:11 On your way out of church tonight, the ushers will
02:12 give you all the texts tonight. Is that all right, everybody?
02:15 Aud.: Yes. PB: So that way you don't have to be trying
02:17 to figure out how to write and what not. We have all the
02:19 texts for you. Let's go to work. Let's go to the book of Genesis.
02:21 What book, everybody? Aud.: Genesis.
02:22 PB: Come on, what book, everybody? Aud.: Genesis.
02:23 PB: Genesis. Talk back to me. Genesis,
02:25 and we're going to Genesis chapter 1.
02:27 And we're going to Genesis chapter 1.
02:29 Now, as we begin tonight, how many days are there in a week?
02:31 Aud.: Seven. PB: Come on, how many days are there in a week?
02:34 Aud.: Seven. PB: There are seven days in a week.
02:36 So we recognize, in creation week, just like there
02:39 are seven days in a week in 2017, at the creation week
02:42 there seven days in a week. Genesis 1:1. The Word of God says,
02:46 "In the beginning God created the heavens and the"--what, everybody?
02:48 Aud.: Earth. PB: "And the earth was without form and"--what?
02:51 Aud.: Void. PB: "Darkness was upon the face of the deep.
02:53 And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
02:56 And God said, Let there be"--what, everybody? Aud.: Light.
02:59 PB: "And there was"--what, everybody? Aud.: Light.
03:00 PB: "And God saw the light, that it was good:
03:02 and God divided the light from the darkness.
03:03 And God called the light Day, and the darkness
03:05 he called Night. And the evening and the morning
03:06 were the"--what day, everybody? Aud.: First.
03:08 PB: They were the first day. So, biblically a
03:10 day is defined as evening and morning. Which means,
03:14 in our humanity right now, it's Friday night.
03:15 Biblically, however, we've moved into Saturday,
03:22 because the Bible says the evening and the what, everybody?
03:25 Aud.: Morning. PB: The evening and the what, everybody??
03:28 Aud.: Morning. PB: So on day one, the Bible teaches
03:29 that God created light. That God created what, everybody?
03:32 Aud.: Light. PB: All right, go to verse number 6.
03:35 "And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst
03:38 of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.
03:39 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which
03:41 were under the firmament from the waters which were above
03:43 the firmament: and it was so. And God called the firmament Heaven."
03:46 Everybody say "heaven." Aud.: Heaven.
03:47 PB: "And the evening and the morning were the"--what day?
03:49 Aud.: Second. PB: So on day two, God created the firmament.
03:53 God created the what, everybody? Aud.: Firmament.
03:55 PB: So how many days in a week? Aud.: Seven.
03:57 PB: How many days in a week? Aud.: Seven.
03:58 PB: On day one in creation week, God created what, everybody?
04:01 Aud.: Light. PB: On day two, God created the-- Aud.: Firmament.
04:04 PB: Verse 9, "And God said, Let the waters under the
04:06 heaven be gathered together unto one place,
04:08 and let the dry land appear: and it was so.
04:10 And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering
04:12 together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that
04:14 it was good. And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass,
04:16 the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit
04:19 after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth:
04:21 and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass,
04:23 and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree
04:26 yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself,
04:28 after his kind: and God saw that it was"--what, everybody?
04:30 Aud.: Good. PB: "And the evening and the morning
04:32 were the"--what day? Aud.: Third.
04:33 PB: On day three, God created vegetation.
04:35 He created what, everybody? Aud.: Vegetation.
04:37 PB: So on day one, God created what? Light.
04:39 Day two, the what? Firmament. Day three,
04:41 He created what, everybody? Aud.: Vegetation.
04:43 PB: Day four, verse number 14. "And God said,
04:45 Let there be lights." Let there be what, everybody? Aud.: Lights.
04:48 PB: Lights "in the firmament of the heaven to divide
04:50 the day from the night; and let them be for signs,
04:52 and for seasons, and for days, and years: And let them
04:54 be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give
04:56 light upon the earth: and it was so.
04:58 And God made two great"--what, everybody? Aud.: Lights.
05:01 PB: "The greater light to rule the"-- Aud.: Day.
05:03 PB: "And the lesser light to rule the night:
05:05 he made the stars also. And God set them in the
05:08 firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,
05:10 And to rule over the day and over the night,
05:11 and to divide the light from the darkness:
05:13 and God saw that it was good. And the evening
05:14 and the morning were the"--what day, everybody? aud.: Fourth.
05:17 PB: Now God is all that and then some,
05:18 because on day four God created the sun, the moon,
05:20 and the stars. But the Bible says that before He
05:23 even created the sun, the moon, and the stars on day four,
05:25 he had already created light on day one. [Aud. reaction]
05:28 PB: So yet, we have light before we have sun,
05:33 moon, and stars. What a mighty God we serve. [Aud. reaction]
05:38 PB: Angels bow before Him, heaven and earth adore Him.
05:42 What a mighty God we serve. We serve a God who
05:45 created light before there was even a sun, moon, or stars.
05:49 [Aud. reaction] PB: Day one, God created what, everybody?
05:52 Aud.: Light. PB: Light. Day two, God created the-- Aud.: Firmament.
05:54 PB: Firmament. Day three He created vege-- Aud.: Vegetation.
05:56 PB: Day four, the sun, the moon, and the-- Aud.: Stars.
05:58 PB: All right. Verse 20. "And God said, Let the waters
06:02 bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life,
06:04 and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open
06:06 firmament of heaven. And God created great whales,
06:09 and every living creature that moveth, which the
06:11 waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind,
06:13 and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw
06:15 that it was"--what, everybody? Aud.: Good.
06:16 PB: "And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and"--what?
06:18 Aud.: Multiply. PB: "And fill the waters in the seas,
06:20 and let fowl multiply in the earth.
06:22 And the evening and the morning were the"-
06:23 -what day, everybody? Aud.: Fifth.
06:24 PB: So on day five--I say alliteration. F, F, F.
06:27 On day five God created fish and fowl.
06:29 Are you hearing what I'm saying?
06:31 That's water creatures, and that's creatures
06:33 in the air. Everybody say "Fish." Aud.: Fish.
06:35 PB: And say "fowl." Aud.: Fowl.
06:36 PB: Everybody say "fifth day." Aud.: Fifth day.
06:38 PB: "Fish." Aud.: Fish. PB: And "fowl." Aud.: Fowl.
06:40 PB: How many days in a week? Aud.: Seven.
06:42 PB: How many days have we done thus far? Aud.: Five.
06:44 PB: How many days we have left? Aud.: Two.
06:45 PB: On day one, God created-- Aud.: Light.
06:47 PB: Day two, God created the-- Aud.: Firmament.
06:49 PB: Day three, God created-- Aud.: Vegetation.
06:52 PB: Day five, God created-- Aud.: Fish and fowl.
06:54 [Aud. reaction] PB: Every time I do it,
07:01 I pray you get it right. Amen? [Aud. reaction]
07:03 PB: All right, let's try it one more time.
07:05 Day one, God created what? Aud.: Light.
07:07 PB: Day two, the-- Aud.: Firmament.
07:08 PB: Day three-- Aud.: Vegetation.
07:10 PB: Day five-- Aud.: Fish and fowl.
07:12 PB: Day four-- Aud.: Sun, moon, and stars.
07:14 PB: Oh yeah. Verse 24. "And God said,
07:20 Let the earth bring forth the living creature
07:22 after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing,
07:23 and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.
07:25 And God made the beast of the earth after his kind,
07:27 and cattle after their kind, and every thing that
07:29 creepeth upon the earth after his kind:
07:30 and God saw that it was"--what, everybody? Aud.: Good.
07:33 PB: Verse 26, "And God said, Let us make man in our"
07:36 --what, everybody? Aud.: Image.
07:37 PB: "After our"--what, everybody? Aud.: Likeness.
07:39 PB: I love that text, because text reminds us that
07:41 there is God three-in-one. The Father, the Son,
07:44 and the Holy Ghost. The text never says "
07:47 And God let me make man." But the text says,
07:48 "And God said Let us make man." God the Father,
07:52 God the Son, God the Holy Spirit. In the beginning
07:54 was the Word, and the Word was with God,
07:56 and the Word was God," Because the Word became flesh.
07:59 God said, Let us make men in our image after our likeness.
08:04 "And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea,
08:07 and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle,
08:09 and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing
08:11 that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own"-
08:14 -what, everybody? Aud.: Image.
08:16 PB: Come on, in His own what, everybody? Aud.: Image.
08:18 PB: If God created me in His image, then I ain't junk,
08:20 and you ain't junk either. [Aud. reaction]
08:21 PB: So don't let anybody tell you you're junk,
08:23 because you and I have been created in the image of God,
08:25 and God doesn't create junk. [Aud. reaction]
08:26 PB: In the image of God, created he what, everybody? Aud.: Man.
08:32 PB: "In the image of God created he him; male and"--what? Aud.: Female.
08:38 PB: Male and what? Aud.: Female. PB: Male and what?
08:42 Aud.: Female. "Created he them." Now, you can get
08:46 caught up in all this foolishness if you want,
08:48 but if you're a Bible-believing creature,
08:49 the Bible says God created male and--what, everybody? Aud.: Female.
08:53 PB: The Bible does not say God created male and male,
08:55 or female and female. The Bible says God created male and female.
08:59 [Aud. reaction] PB: And before there was a Supreme Court, there was God.
09:03 [Aud. reaction] PB: Before there was a country, there was God.
09:07 [Aud. reaction] PB: God created male and what, everybody?
09:09 Aud.: Female. [Aud. reaction] PB: I know some people don't
09:16 like it when I just tell it like it is, but God's got my back.
09:20 That's all I know, God's got my back. God's got my back.
09:22 My wife loves me, my three children love me, that's all I need.
09:24 Come on, say amen. Aud.: Amen.
09:26 PB: Verse 28, "And God blessed them, and God said ,
09:28 Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth,
09:30 and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea,
09:32 and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing
09:34 that moveth upon the earth. And God said, Behold,
09:36 I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon
09:39 the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which
09:41 is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for"-
09:44 -what, everybody? Aud.: Meat. PB: "And to every beast of the earth,
09:46 and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon
09:48 the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green
09:51 herb for meat: and it was so. And God saw every thing that
09:55 he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening
09:57 and the morning were the"--what day, everybody? Aud.: Sixth.
09:59 PB: On day six, God created mammal and man.
10:02 Mammal and man. How many days of the week? Aud.: Seven.
10:07 PB: How many days in a week? Aud.: Seven.
10:09 PB: Day one, God created what? Light. Day two, the-- Aud.: Firmament.
10:12 PB: Day three-- Aud.: Vegetation.
10:14 PB: Day four, the sun, the moon, and the-- Aud.: Stars.
10:17 PB: Day five, fish and what? Aud.: Fowl.
10:19 PB: Day six, mammal and what?
10:21 PB: How many days of the week? Aud.: Seven.
10:22 PB: How many days have we done? Aud.: Six.
10:24 PB: How many days do we have left? Aud.: One.
10:26 PB: Genesis 2, verse 1. "Thus the heavens and
10:32 the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
10:35 And on the"--what day? Aud.: Seventh.
10:37 PB: Don't be scared. On the what day? Aud.: Seventh day.
10:41 PB: "God ended his work which [God] had made;
10:44 and he"--did what on the seventh day? Aud.: Rested.
10:47 PB: On the seventh day, from all his what?
10:50 Work, which he had what? Aud.: Made.
10:51 PB: And God did what on the seventh day? Aud.: Rested.
10:54 PB: Come on, He did what, everybody? Aud.: Rested.
10:56 PB: And he did what else? Sanctified it, because that ended,
10:59 He had rested from all His work, which God created and made.
11:02 So let's stop, 'cause I'm a Bible-believing Christian.
11:05 If it ain't in the Word, it doesn't deserve to be heard.
11:07 To the law and to the testimony, if they speak not
11:09 according to this Word it's because there is no
11:10 light in them. Tonight, I don't need a paper to guide me.
11:13 I've got the Word of God. [Aud. reaction]
11:16 PB: On the seventh day, God rested.
11:18 God did what, everybody? Aud.: Rested.
11:19 PB: He rested, and then what else did he do?
11:21 He blessed it, and then He did what? Sanctified it.
11:25 Which lets me know, sanctification by definition
11:27 means to set aside. To set apart. God set the
11:32 seventh day apart. Why didn't he choose the fifth day?
11:34 He's God, He can do whatever He wants to do. He's sovereign.
11:37 He doesn't have to ask you or me for permission to do
11:40 as He wants. On day seven, the Bible says God rested,
11:44 God blessed it, and God sanctified it. There are seven
11:48 days in a week; in six days He created or made something.
11:51 But on day seven, He instituted the Sabbath. Ironically,
11:56 it's interesting that the two things God instituted in
12:00 the Garden of Eden are the two things the devil hates the most.
12:03 [Aud. reaction] PB: What am I talking about? God created light;
12:08 God created the firmament; God created vegetation;
12:10 God created the sun, the moon, and the stars;
12:12 God created fish and fowl; God created mammal and man.
12:15 Then God had the first marriage, between Adam and Even.
12:19 God then instituted marriage, and He instituted the
12:23 Sabbath--the two things God instituted in Eden are
12:26 the two very things the devil hates the most.
12:28 [Aud. reaction] PB: Family and God's Sabbath.
12:37 So through deception, he tries to get us all off kilter.
12:41 But the Bible is very clear. On day seven God did three things:
12:43 He rested, He blessed it, and He sanctified it. All right,
12:48 let's keep moving in the Word. Go the book of Exodus.
12:50 Go to Exodus chapter 20. Exodus chapter 20. Get in the Word.
12:55 Know what you believe, know why you believe it,
12:57 know where it's found. We ain't got time for play-preaching.
12:59 Ain't no time for cotton-candy preaching. We've got terrorist attacks;
13:02 we've got Obamacare and all this foolishness going on in Washington.
13:04 I've got to call it like it is. I have a mandate from God to do that.
13:07 All right, now, let's go to the Word. Exodus chapter 20. Are you there?
13:11 Let me hear you say amen. Aud.: Amen.
13:13 PB: The Word of God says in Exodus chapter 20,
13:15 and we're going to verse number 8. It says,
13:17 begins with the word what, everybody? Aud.: Remember
13:21 PB: Exodus chapter 20, verse number 8.
13:23 What word does it begin with? Aud.: Remember.
13:26 PB: All right, I'm just making sure you're with me.
13:28 It begins with what word, everybody? Aud.: Remember.
13:29 PB: Now, God doesn't make mistakes. So that means,
13:32 if God begins with the word "remember,"
13:35 God knew what He was talking about,
13:37 and God must have known that somebody was going
13:40 to try to forget. So God begins with the word "remember."
13:44 God does not begin with the words "thou shalt"
13:47 or "thou shalt not," but God begins with the word
13:51 "remember." Everybody say "remember." Aud.: Remember.
13:53 PB: Remember the what day? Aud.: Sabbath.
13:55 PB: To keep it what, everybody? Aud.: Holy.
13:56 PB: "Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
13:58 But the seventh day is the"--what? Aud.: Sabbath.
14:00 PB: "Of the LORD thy"--what? Aud.: God.
14:02 PB: "In it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son,
14:03 nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant,
14:05 nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
14:07 For"--how many days? Aud: Six.
14:09 PB: "In six days the LORD made heaven and"--what? Aud.: Earth.
14:11 PB: "The sea, and all that in them is,"
14:12 and what did He do on the seventh day? He what? Aud.: Rested.
14:14 PB: "Rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed
14:17 the sabbath day, and"--and He did what, everybody? Aud.: Hallowed it.
14:20 PB: This is just a restatement of what we read in Genesis 2.
14:23 On day seven, God ended His work, but God rested, God blessed it,
14:27 God sanctified it. But in this instance it says He hallowed it.
14:31 Let's move some more. Go to Exodus 31. Let's keep going to Exodus 31.
14:39 Exodus 31, I've got to give you the Word of God. Exodus chapter 31,
14:44 verse number 12. Exodus chapter 31, verse number 12.
14:50 The Word of God says to us tonight in Exodus chapter 31,
14:54 verse number 12. Exodus chapter 31, verse number 12.
14:58 If you have it, let me hear you say amen. Aud.: Amen.
15:00 PB: "And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
15:01 Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying,
15:03 Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep:
15:05 for it is a"--what, everybody? Aud.: Sign.
15:07 PB: Sign. "Between me and you throughout your generations;
15:09 that ye may know that I am the LORD that doth sanctify you.
15:12 Ye shall keep the sabbath therefore; for it is"-
15:14 -what unto you, everybody? Aud.: Holy.
15:16 PB: "Every one that defileth it shall surely be put to death:
15:18 for whosoever doeth any work therein, that soul shall be
15:21 cut off from among his people. Six days may work be done;
15:24 but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest,
15:25 holy to the"--whom, everybody? Aud.: Lord.
15:27 PB: "Whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day,
15:29 he shall surely be put to death. Wherefore the children
15:31 of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath
15:33 throughout their generations, for a perpetual [or ongoing] covenant."
15:37 It is a sign. It is a what, everybody? Aud.: Sign.
15:40 PB: Between me and the children of Israel, for how long?Aud.: Forever.
15:43 PB: "For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth,
15:45 and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.
15:46 And he gave unto Moses, when he had made an end of communing
15:50 with him upon Mount Sinai, two tables of testimony,
15:52 tables of stone, written with the finger of God."
15:56 Now, God's Word is clear that God's Sabbath is a sign between
16:01 God and His people forever. It is to be a perpetual,
16:05 or ongoing, covenant. This is what God said. I can't
16:09 worry about what man is saying, I've got to do what
16:11 God is saying. If I really love God, if I really
16:14 want to follow God, I've got to do what God says.
16:18 [Aud. reaction] PB: God says, My Sabbath is to be
16:20 a sign between Me and My people forever. Aud.: Amen.
16:25 PB: Let's go to Leviticus 23. Leviticus chapter 23,
16:29 verse number 32. Now, I really want to look at
16:39 that last part. Well, what does it say? Leviticus 23,
16:42 let's do verse 3. Leviticus 23, verse 3.
16:48 The Word of God says in Leviticus 23:3.
16:51 If you have it, let me hear you say amen.
16:53 Aud.: Amen. PB: All right, the Word of God:
16:56 "Six days shall [your\ work be done:
16:57 but the seventh day is the sabbath of"-
16:59 -what, everybody? Aud.: Rest.
17:01 PB: Rest. "An holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein:
17:05 it is the sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings."
17:07 Okay. So let's be clear, clear with what the Bible is saying.
17:10 The Bible is saying that the Sabbath is a day of rest,
17:15 but that it's also a holy convocation. Now, when we talk
17:21 about a convocation--let's say a youth convocation-
17:23 -we are taking about a youth coming together.
17:25 We are talking about a youth assembly.
17:27 When we call a "senior adult convocation,"
17:30 we're saying this is a senior adult gathering.
17:32 A senior adult assembly. When the Bible says the
17:36 Sabbath is a holy convocation, we are then saying
17:40 that the Sabbath is a holy coming together.
17:43 The Sabbath is a holy assembly. Which is why
17:46 I began tonight in my preamble introduction letting you know,
17:49 I am a Seventh-day Adventist Christian. I'm not trying
17:51 to knock anything or anybody else, I'm really not.
17:54 I don't have time to do that. I can't hate on somebody
17:56 else while trying to build my own self up.
17:58 Are we clear, everybody? I am here to preach the Word of God.
18:01 I come to church on Saturday, God's Sabbath,
18:04 because the Bible says it is to be a day of rest,
18:07 it is to be a day of blessing, it is to be a day
18:11 that God sanctified. But then the Bible says that
18:13 it's also a holy convocation. It's a holy coming together.
18:18 It is a holy assembly. Are you hearing what I'm saying?
18:20 [Aud. reaction] PB: But then we ask ourselves,
18:22 is it just a holy coming together? Is it just a holy assembly?
18:26 'Cause somebody can say all right, I observe God's Sabbath,
18:29 but I'm going to live any way I want to live during the week.
18:32 I must sow my wild oats during the week and then pray for
18:35 a crop failure on the Sabbath. Is it just for me to come
18:42 together in a congregation singing, and do whatever
18:44 I have to do and preach, and then go on--no. Go to Isaiah.
18:47 Isaiah 58, verse number 13. Isaiah 58, verse 13. Verse 14;
18:57 58:13 and 14. The Word of God says in Isaiah 58:13 and 14-
19:03 -if you have it, let me hear you say amen." Aud.: Amen.
19:05 PB: "If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath,
19:07 from doing thy pleasure on my holy day;
19:09 and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable;
19:11 and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways,
19:13 nor [speaking] thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words:
19:17 Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will
19:19 cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth,
19:21 and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father:
19:23 for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it." All right,
19:26 so, so when we deal with this, the Sabbath is supposed
19:29 to be a delight. That means I'm supposed to look forward
19:32 to it. It's not supposed to be a day where I'm oh,
19:36 here we go again. No. The Sabbath is supposed to be a delight.
19:41 [Aud. reaction] PB: Because it is my time with God.
19:44 I have a date with my God. I have a date with the King
19:48 of kings and the Lord of lords. Once per week, on His Sabbath.
19:53 Are you hearing what I'm saying? I don't speak my own words.
19:57 I don't find my own pleasure. I don't do my own ways,
20:04 because it's my time with God. So because I don't speak
20:08 my own words, the conversation I have during the week
20:11 is not what I have on God's Sabbath. Because I don't
20:13 do my own pleasure. I'm a basketball fan. I am a fan,
20:18 fan, fan. But, Miami Heat--in my opinion--they're
20:27 coming back one year. [Aud. reaction]
20:29 PB: They come second to God on God's Sabbath.
20:34 Because I'm not doing my own pleasure. Okay, so,
20:38 I tell the story all the time. It's like a date
20:40 with God that I have. God's Sabbath, a date.
20:44 Now, you all know what a date is. Come on, say amen.
20:45 Aud.: Amen. PB: You all know what a date is.
20:47 Come on, say amen. Aud.: Amen.
20:48 PB: All right, so, I graduated from this institution
20:53 23 years ago. Okay. Twenty-three years ago, I graduated.
20:59 Twenty-seven years ago, I arrived. All right. And so,
21:06 23 years ago I was not married. My wife and I will
21:11 be married this year 20 years. Aud.: Amen.
21:14 [Applause] PB: She's looking at me, saying
21:19 "where is he going with this?" [Aud. reaction]
21:22 PB: All right, so, when I was here, I was not
21:27 privileged 23 years ago to have what I now have.
21:33 So, when I took my wife out on a date,
21:37 dates today are Bravo, Cheesecake Factory,
21:47 ah, the Italian place I like, Bongiano's.
21:53 Twenty-three years ago, the dates were McDonald's--
22:00 [Aud. reaction] PB: Burger King-- [Aud. reaction]
22:05 PB: Don't act like you don't know what I'm talking about.
22:06 Come on, say amen. Or better yet, when it got real good,
22:12 let's go to Olive Garden. [Aud. reaction]
22:14 PB: Okay. So they come, "What would you like, sir?"
22:16 "I'd just like, you know, the salad."
22:19 "What would she like?” "Salad." Ha ha ha ha.
22:23 [Aud. reaction] PB: "What would you like to drink?" "Water."
22:26 [Aud. reaction] PB: "Put some lemon in it."
22:28 "What would she like to--?" "Water." Ha ha ha ha.
22:29 [Aud. reaction] PB: Ha ha ha ha. But I'm at McDonald's
22:34 on a date with my wife, and my attentions are on her.
22:39 I'm looking at her, in her eyes. She's looking at me,
22:48 in her eyes. We're going to McDonald's, yeah,
22:51 but you can super-size that thing. Come on, say amen!
22:54 [Aud. reaction] PB: People would walk by,
22:57 I'm not looking at them, 'cause I'm focused in on her.
23:01 Other people are talking, but I'm not talking to them,
23:04 because I'm focused in on her. On that date,
23:08 even though it was at McDonald's, the Golden Arches,
23:10 I looked my best, I smelled my best. [Aud. reaction]
23:17 PB: I'm acting my best, because I'm on a date
23:22 with my wife. Every Saturday, I've got a date with my Jesus.
23:30 [Aud. reaction] PB: My conversation is not what all you-
23:35 -uh-uh, my date is with God. And so when I come in
23:40 God's house for my date--I know you all are saying, man,
23:45 you all was like getting dressed up. Well, you know,
23:49 it's Friday night, it's the Sabbath. Sunset Friday,
23:50 sunset Sabbath. My shoes got to be shined, my suit's
23:52 got to be right. My bow tie got to be nice,
23:55 because I have a date with the Most High God.
24:00 [Aud. reaction] PB: Now, if I were going to
24:01 meet President Obama---read between the lines, ha ha--
24:06 [Aud. reaction] PB: I would look my best, smell my best,
24:11 dress my best, because I'm going to meet with the president
24:15 of the United States. How much more so,
24:18 when I go meet the King of kings-- [Aud. reaction]
24:20 PB: The Lord of lords, in His house for a holy convocation,
24:28 am I in tune with Him and I'm giving Him my best.
24:33 Now, my best and Brother Tate's best may be different.
24:36 But the good thing about God is, He knows what my
24:39 best is and He knows what his best is. Are you hearing
24:41 what I'm saying? [Aud. reaction]
24:43 PB: Not speaking my own words, not finding my own pleasure,
24:48 not doing my own ways, because I'm on a date with God.
24:54 Isaiah 66. Isaiah 66. Isaiah 66, verse 22.
25:08 This is why this is so important. 'Cause some people think,
25:12 well, that was done away with, Pastor. You don't have to
25:14 worry about that. Uh, Isaiah 66:23,
25:17 (PB: NOTE: this text actually begins with 22)
25:18 "For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make,
25:20 shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed
25:21 and your name remain. And it shall come to pass,
25:23 that from one new moon to another,
25:25 and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come
25:29 to worship before me, saith the LORD." That means,
25:32 when we get to heaven, just like we're worshipping God on
25:35 God's Sabbath on earth, when we get to heaven all flesh,
25:38 the Bible says, shall come worship God on God's Sabbath,
25:42 from one Sabbath to another. Y'all don't hear what I'm saying.
25:45 [Aud. reaction] PB: Well, God must have changed His law,
25:49 'cause most people, most Christians, don't accept Saturday
25:51 as the Sabbath. Or, the Sabbath is done away with. Pastor,
25:54 what do you mean? Well, let's end the Old Testament by
25:57 going to Malachi 3. Let's go to Malachi 3,
26:00 and let's see what the Word of God has to say about
26:02 God changing His law, God changing His Sabbath.
26:06 The Word of God says in Malachi chapter 3, verse number 6.
26:10 The Word says, "For I am the LORD, I change not."
26:16 God does not change. We may change--you know, some of you,
26:19 I don't know what day I'm going to get you and what attitude
26:21 you're going to have on that day--but I love me some God,
26:24 because God says "I am the Lord, I change not."
26:26 You see Me today, you see Me today, next year,
26:29 next week, whatever--I am the Lord, I change not.
26:33 Think about it. If God had changed the Sabbath,
26:35 we'd have bedlam. All right, so Pastor,
26:40 maybe Jesus changed the Sabbath. That was the Old Testament,
26:45 maybe Jesus changed the Sabbath. Let's see what Jesus says.
26:49 Go to Matthew 5, verse number 17. Matthew chapter 5,
26:54 verse number 17. 'Cause it's very clear, the seventh
26:57 day is God's Sabbath. Matthew chapter 5, verse number 17.
27:00 Jesus Himself speaking, He says, "Think not that I am
27:04 come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not
27:06 come to destroy, but to" do what, everybody? Aud.: Fulfill.
27:08 PB: Fulfil. "For verily I say unto you,
27:10 Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle
27:12 shall in no wise pass from the law,
27:13 till all be"--what, everybody? Aud.: Fulfilled.
27:15 PB: Fulfilled. "Whosoever therefore shall break one
27:17 of these least commandments, and shall teach men so,
27:18 he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven:
27:19 but whosoever shall do and teach them,
27:21 the same shall be called"--what, everybody? Aud.: Great.
27:24 PB: "Great in the kingdom of heaven." So Jesus says, look,
27:26 I didn't come to change the law. I didn't come
27:29 to change My Sabbath. I didn't come to change it,
27:31 but I came to fulfill it. Aud.: Amen.
27:34 PB: That was not just Old Testament,
27:37 I was doing it in the New Testament. Well, Jesus,
27:39 what do you mean, you were doing it in the New Testament?
27:40 I'm glad you asked. Go to the book of Luke.
27:42 Know what you believe, know why you believe it,
27:45 now where it's found in the Word of God.
27:47 You're a Bible-believing Christian,
27:48 let's read what the Word of God says.
27:50 Luke chapter 4, verse number 16. Jesus said,
27:54 "I didn't come to do away with the law,
27:55 I came to fulfill the law." Luke chapter 4,
27:57 verse number 16, the Word of God says, "
27:59 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up:
28:01 and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue."
28:04 Everybody say "synagogue." ud.: Synagogue.
28:06 PB: Synagogue, which was the Jewish church,
28:07 "on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.
28:09 And there was delivered unto him the book of the
28:10 prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book,
28:12 he found the place where it was written,
28:13 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he
