Sanctified it. 00:11:21.94\00:11:25.31 Which lets me know, sanctification by definition 00:11:25.35\00:11:27.68 means to set aside. To set apart. God set the 00:11:27.72\00:11:32.22 seventh day apart. Why didn't he choose the fifth day? 00:11:32.25\00:11:34.32 He's God, He can do whatever He wants to do. He's sovereign. 00:11:34.36\00:11:37.63 He doesn't have to ask you or me for permission to do 00:11:37.66\00:11:40.00 as He wants. On day seven, the Bible says God rested, 00:11:40.03\00:11:43.97 God blessed it, and God sanctified it. There are seven 00:11:44.00\00:11:48.40 days in a week; in six days He created or made something. 00:11:48.44\00:11:51.87 But on day seven, He instituted the Sabbath. Ironically, 00:11:51.91\00:11:56.38 it's interesting that the two things God instituted in 00:11:56.41\00:12:00.65 the Garden of Eden are the two things the devil hates the most. 00:12:00.68\00:12:03.59 [Aud. reaction] PB: What am I talking about? God created 00:12:03.62\00:12:08.39 light; God created the firmament; God created 00:12:08.42\00:12:10.73 vegetation; God created the sun, the moon, and the stars; 00:12:10.76\00:12:12.83 God created fish and fowl; God created mammal and man. 00:12:12.86\00:12:15.83 Then God had the first marriage, between Adam and Even. 00:12:15.86\00:12:19.07 God then instituted marriage, and He instituted the 00:12:19.10\00:12:23.07 Sabbath--the two things God instituted in Eden are 00:12:23.10\00:12:26.27 the two very things the devil hates the most. 00:12:26.31\00:12:28.94 [Aud. reaction] PB: Family and God's Sabbath. 00:12:28.98\00:12:37.19 So through deception, he tries to get us all off kilter. 00:12:37.22\00:12:41.19 But the Bible is very clear. On day seven God did three things: 00:12:41.22\00:12:43.63 He rested, He blessed it, and He sanctified it. All right, 00:12:43.66\00:12:48.50 let's keep moving in the Word. Go the book of Exodus. 00:12:48.53\00:12:50.17 Go to Exodus chapter 20. Exodus chapter 20. Get in the Word. 00:12:50.20\00:12:55.80 Know what you believe, know why you believe it, 00:12:55.84\00:12:57.74 know where it's found. We ain't got time for play-preaching. 00:12:57.77\00:12:59.64 Ain't no time for cotton-candy preaching. We've got terrorist 00:12:59.67\00:13:02.64 attacks; we've got Obamacare and all this foolishness going on in 00:13:02.68\00:13:04.88 Washington. I've got to call it like it is. I have a mandate from God to do that. 00:13:04.91\00:13:07.78 All right, now, let's go to the Word. Exodus chapter 20. Are you 00:13:07.82\00:13:11.59 there? Let me hear you say amen. Aud.: Amen. 00:13:11.62\00:13:13.19 PB: The Word of God says in Exodus chapter 20, 00:13:13.22\00:13:15.36 and we're going to verse number 8. It says, 00:13:15.39\00:13:17.79 begins with the word what, everybody? Aud.: Remember. 00:13:28.34\00:13:29.84 PB: Now, God doesn't make mistakes. So that means, 00:13:29.87\00:13:32.81 if God begins with the word "remember," 00:13:32.84\00:13:35.78 God knew what He was talking about, 00:13:35.81\00:13:37.51 and God must have known that somebody was going 00:13:37.55\00:13:40.32 to try to forget. So God begins with the word "remember." 00:13:40.35\00:13:44.55 God does not begin with the words "thou shalt" 00:13:44.59\00:13:47.82 or "thou shalt not," but God begins with the word 00:13:47.86\00:13:51.03 "remember." It is to be a perpetual, 00:16:01.66\00:16:05.29 or ongoing, covenant. This is what God said. I can't 00:16:05.33\00:16:09.66 worry about what man is saying, I've got to do what 00:16:09.70\00:16:11.70 God is saying. If I really love God, if I really 00:16:11.73\00:16:14.84 want to follow God, I've got to do what God says. 00:16:14.87\00:16:18.31 [Aud. reaction] PB: God says, My Sabbath is to be 00:16:18.34\00:16:20.41 a sign between Me and My people forever. Aud.: Amen. 00:16:20.44\00:16:25.41 PB: Let's go to Leviticus 23. Leviticus chapter 23, 00:16:25.45\00:16:29.08 verse number 32. Now, I really want to look at 00:16:29.12\00:16:39.36 that last part. Well, what does it say? Leviticus 23, 00:16:39.39\00:16:42.16 let's do verse 3. Leviticus 23, verse 3. 00:16:42.20\00:16:48.30 The Word of God says in Leviticus 23:3. 00:16:48.34\00:16:51.27 If you have it, let me hear you say amen. 00:16:51.31\00:16:53.07 Aud.: Amen. PB: All right, the Word of God: 00:16:53.11\00:16:56.11 "Six days shall [your\ work be done: 00:16:56.14\00:16:57.88 but the seventh day is the sabbath of"- 00:16:57.91\00:16:59.81 -what, everybody? Aud.: Rest. 00:16:59.85\00:17:01.58 PB: Rest. "An holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: 00:17:01.62\00:17:05.89 it is the sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings." 00:17:05.92\00:17:07.72 Okay. So let's be clear, clear with what the Bible is saying. 00:17:07.76\00:17:10.19 The Bible is saying that the Sabbath is a day of rest, 00:17:10.23\00:17:15.53 but that it's also a holy convocation. Now, when we talk 00:17:15.56\00:17:21.00 about a convocation--let's say a youth convocation- 00:17:21.04\00:17:23.20 -we are taking about a youth coming together. 00:17:23.24\00:17:25.34 We are talking about a youth assembly. 00:17:25.37\00:17:27.78 When we call a "senior adult convocation," 00:17:27.81\00:17:29.98 we're saying this is a senior adult gathering. 00:17:30.01\00:17:32.71 A senior adult assembly. When the Bible says the 00:17:32.75\00:17:36.18 Sabbath is a holy convocation, we are then saying 00:17:36.22\00:17:40.19 that the Sabbath is a holy coming together. 00:17:40.22\00:17:43.26 The Sabbath is a holy assembly. Which is why 00:17:43.29\00:17:46.09 I began tonight in my preamble introduction letting you know, 00:17:46.13\00:17:49.13 I am a Seventh-day Adventist Christian. I'm not trying 00:17:49.16\00:17:51.43 to knock anything or anybody else, I'm really not. 00:17:51.47\00:17:54.00 I don't have time to do that. I can't hate on somebody 00:17:54.04\00:17:56.54 else while trying to build my own self up. 00:17:56.57\00:17:58.54 Are we clear, everybody? I am here to preach the Word of God. 00:17:58.57\00:18:01.61 I come to church on Saturday, God's Sabbath, 00:18:01.64\00:18:04.58 because the Bible says it is to be a day of rest, 00:18:04.61\00:18:07.75 it is to be a day of blessing, it is to be a day 00:18:07.78\00:18:11.19 that God sanctified. But then the Bible says that 00:18:11.22\00:18:13.86 it's also a holy convocation. It's a holy coming together. 00:18:13.89\00:18:18.16 It is a holy assembly. Are you hearing what I'm saying? 00:18:18.19\00:18:20.73 [Aud. reaction] PB: But then we ask ourselves, 00:18:20.76\00:18:22.20 is it just a holy coming together? Is it just a holy 00:18:22.23\00:18:26.77 assembly? 'Cause somebody can say all right, I observe God's 00:18:26.80\00:18:29.67 Sabbath, but I'm going to live any way I want to live during 00:18:29.70\00:18:32.54 the week. I must sow my wild oats during the week and then 00:18:32.57\00:18:35.78 pray for a crop failure on the Sabbath. Is it just for me to 00:18:35.81\00:18:41.98 come together in a congregation singing, and do whatever 00:18:42.02\00:18:44.89 I have to do and preach, and then go on--no. Go to Isaiah. 00:18:44.92\00:18:47.09 Isaiah 58, verse number 13. Isaiah 58, verse 13. Verse 14; 00:18:47.12\00:18:57.17 58:13 and 14. The Word of God says in Isaiah 58:13 and 14- 00:18:57.20\00:19:03.81 -if you have it, let me hear you say amen." Aud.: Amen. 00:19:03.84\00:19:05.71 PB: "If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, 00:19:05.74\00:19:07.71 from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; 00:19:07.74\00:19:09.28 and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, 00:19:09.31\00:19:11.95 honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, 00:19:11.98\00:19:13.92 nor [speaking] thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own 00:19:13.95\00:19:17.19 words: Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will 00:19:17.22\00:19:19.39 cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, 00:19:19.42\00:19:21.32 and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: 00:19:21.36\00:19:23.02 for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it." All right, 00:19:23.06\00:19:26.16 so, so when we deal with this, the Sabbath is supposed 00:19:26.19\00:19:29.16 to be a delight. That means I'm supposed to look forward 00:19:29.20\00:19:32.70 to it. It's not supposed to be a day where I'm oh, 00:19:32.73\00:19:36.14 here we go again. No. The Sabbath is supposed to be a 00:19:36.17\00:19:40.98 delight. [Aud. reaction] PB: Because it is my time with God. 00:19:41.01\00:19:44.85 I have a date with my God. I have a date with the King 00:19:44.88\00:19:48.52 of kings and the Lord of lords. Once per week, on His Sabbath. 00:19:48.55\00:19:53.92 Are you hearing what I'm saying? I don't speak my own words. 00:19:53.96\00:19:57.76 I don't find my own pleasure. I don't do my own ways, 00:19:57.79\00:20:04.07 because it's my time with God. So because I don't speak 00:20:04.10\00:20:08.50 my own words, the conversation I have during the week 00:20:08.54\00:20:11.01 is not what I have on God's Sabbath. Because I don't 00:20:11.04\00:20:13.68 do my own pleasure. I'm a basketball fan. I am a fan, 00:20:13.71\00:20:18.41 fan, fan. But, Miami Heat--in my opinion--they're 00:20:18.45\00:20:27.39 coming back one year. [Aud. reaction] 00:20:27.42\00:20:29.39 PB: They come second to God on God's Sabbath. 00:20:29.42\00:20:34.30 Because I'm not doing my own pleasure. Okay, so, 00:20:34.36\00:20:38.13 I tell the story all the time. It's like a date 00:20:38.17\00:20:40.24 with God that I have. God's Sabbath, a date. 00:20:40.27\00:20:44.04 Now, you all know what a date is. Come on, say amen. 00:20:44.07\00:20:45.94 Aud.: Amen. PB: You all know what a date is. 00:20:45.97\00:20:47.44 Come on, say amen. Aud.: Amen. 00:20:47.48\00:20:48.84 PB: All right, so, I graduated from this institution 00:20:48.88\00:20:53.11 23 years ago. Okay. Twenty-three years ago, I graduated. 00:20:53.15\00:20:59.89 Twenty-seven years ago, I arrived. All right. And so, 00:20:59.92\00:21:06.03 23 years ago I was not married. My wife and I will 00:21:06.06\00:21:11.23 be married this year 20 years. Aud.: Amen. 00:21:11.27\00:21:14.67 [Applause] PB: She's looking at me, saying 00:21:14.70\00:21:19.74 "where is he going with this?" [Aud. reaction] 00:21:19.77\00:21:22.34 PB: All right, so, when I was here, I was not 00:21:22.38\00:21:27.62 privileged 23 years ago to have what I now have. 00:21:27.65\00:21:33.79 So, when I took my wife out on a date, 00:21:33.82\00:21:37.29 dates today are Bravo, Cheesecake Factory, 00:21:37.33\00:21:47.77 ah, the Italian place I like, Bongiano's. 00:21:47.80\00:21:53.44 Twenty-three years ago, the dates were McDonald's-- 00:21:53.48\00:22:00.18 [Aud. reaction] PB: Burger King-- [Aud. reaction] 00:22:00.22\00:22:05.22 PB: Don't act like you don't know what I'm talking about. 00:22:05.25\00:22:06.86 Come on, say amen. Or better yet, when it got real good, 00:22:06.89\00:22:11.99 let's go to Olive Garden. [Aud. reaction] 00:22:12.03\00:22:14.20 PB: Okay. So they come, "What would you like, sir?" 00:22:14.20\00:22:16.80 "I'd just like, you know, the salad." 00:22:16.83\00:22:19.07 "What would she like?” "Salad." Ha ha ha ha. 00:22:19.10\00:22:23.54 [Aud. reaction] PB: "What would you like to drink?" 00:22:23.57\00:22:26.64 "Water." [Aud. reaction] PB: "Put some lemon in it." 00:22:26.68\00:22:28.21 "What would she like to--?" "Water." Ha ha ha ha. 00:22:28.24\00:22:29.88 [Aud. reaction] PB: Ha ha ha ha. But I'm at McDonald's 00:22:29.91\00:22:34.35 on a date with my wife, and my attentions are on her. 00:22:34.38\00:22:39.95 I'm looking at her, in her eyes. She's looking at me, 00:22:39.99\00:22:48.06 in her eyes. We're going to McDonald's, yeah, 00:22:48.10\00:22:51.83 but you can super-size that thing. Come on, say amen! 00:22:51.87\00:22:54.04 [Aud. reaction] PB: People would walk by, 00:22:54.07\00:22:57.91 I'm not looking at them, 'cause I'm focused in on her. 00:22:57.94\00:23:01.28 Other people are talking, but I'm not talking to them, 00:23:01.31\00:23:03.98 because I'm focused in on her. On that date, 00:23:04.01\00:23:08.12 even though it was at McDonald's, the Golden Arches, 00:23:08.15\00:23:10.19 I looked my best, I smelled my best. [Aud. reaction] 00:23:10.22\00:23:17.46 PB: I'm acting my best, because I'm on a date 00:23:17.49\00:23:22.76 with my wife. Every Saturday, I've got a date with my Jesus. 00:23:22.80\00:23:30.01 [Aud. reaction] PB: My conversation is not what all 00:23:30.04\00:23:35.88 you- -uh-uh, my date is with God. And so when I come in 00:23:35.91\00:23:40.38 God's house for my date--I know you all are saying, man, 00:23:40.42\00:23:45.65 you all was like getting dressed up. Well, you know, 00:23:45.69\00:23:49.69 it's Friday night, it's the Sabbath. Sunset Friday, 00:23:49.72\00:23:50.79 sunset Sabbath. My shoes got to be shined, my suit's 00:23:50.83\00:23:52.59 got to be right. My bow tie got to be nice, 00:23:52.63\00:23:55.56 because I have a date with the Most High God. 00:23:55.60\00:24:00.07 [Aud. reaction] PB: Now, if I were going to 00:24:00.10\00:24:01.67 meet President Obama---read between the lines, ha ha-- 00:24:01.70\00:24:06.01 [Aud. reaction] PB: I would look my best, smell my best, 00:24:06.04\00:24:11.55 dress my best, because I'm going to meet with the president 00:24:11.58\00:24:15.42 of the United States. How much more so, 00:24:15.45\00:24:18.92 when I go meet the King of kings-- [Aud. reaction] 00:24:18.95\00:24:20.96 PB: The Lord of lords, in His house for a holy convocation, 00:24:20.99\00:24:28.76 am I in tune with Him and I'm giving Him my best. 00:24:28.80\00:24:33.23 Now, my best and Brother Tate's best may be different. 00:24:33.27\00:24:36.91 But the good thing about God is, He knows what my 00:24:36.94\00:24:39.34 best is and He knows what his best is. Are you hearing 00:24:39.37\00:24:41.48 what I'm saying? [Aud. reaction] 00:24:41.51\00:24:43.65 PB: Not speaking my own words, not finding my own pleasure, 00:24:43.68\00:24:48.92 not doing my own ways, because I'm on a date with God. 00:24:48.95\00:24:54.39 Isaiah 66. Isaiah 66. Isaiah 66, verse 22. 00:24:54.42\00:25:08.20 This is why this is so important. 'Cause some people 00:25:08.24\00:25:12.01 think, well, that was done away with, Pastor. You don't have to 00:25:12.04\00:25:14.94 worry about that. Uh, Isaiah 66:23, 00:25:14.98\00:25:16.98 (PB: NOTE: this text actually begins with 22) 00:25:17.01\00:25:18.61 "For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, 00:25:18.65\00:25:20.05 shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed 00:25:20.08\00:25:21.92 and your name remain. And it shall come to pass, 00:25:21.95\00:25:23.75 that from one new moon to another, 00:25:23.79\00:25:25.19 and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come 00:25:25.22\00:25:29.46 to worship before me, saith the LORD." That means, 00:25:29.49\00:25:32.53 when we get to heaven, just like we're worshipping God on 00:25:32.56\00:25:35.63 God's Sabbath on earth, when we get to heaven all flesh, 00:25:35.66\00:25:38.90 the Bible says, shall come worship God on God's Sabbath, 00:25:38.93\00:25:42.57 from one Sabbath to another. Y'all don't hear what I'm 00:25:42.60\00:25:45.77 saying. [Aud. reaction] PB: Well, God must have changed His 00:25:45.81\00:25:49.14 law, 'cause most people, most Christians, don't accept 00:25:49.18\00:25:51.61 Saturday as the Sabbath. Or, the Sabbath is done away with. 00:25:51.65\00:25:54.48 Pastor, what do you mean? Well, let's end the Old Testament by 00:25:54.52\00:25:57.02 going to Malachi 3. Let's go to Malachi 3, 00:25:57.05\00:26:00.89 and let's see what the Word of God has to say about 00:26:00.92\00:26:02.92 God changing His law, God changing His Sabbath. 00:26:02.96\00:26:06.09 The Word of God says in Malachi chapter 3, verse number 6. 00:26:06.13\00:26:10.10 The Word says, "For I am the LORD, I change not." 00:26:10.13\00:26:16.37 God does not change. We may change--you know, some of you, 00:26:16.40\00:26:19.11 I don't know what day I'm going to get you and what attitude 00:26:19.14\00:26:21.51 you're going to have on that day--but I love me some God, 00:26:21.54\00:26:24.18 because God says "I am the Lord, I change not." 00:26:24.21\00:26:26.95 You see Me today, you see Me today, next year, 00:26:26.98\00:26:29.82 next week, whatever--I am the Lord, I change not. 00:26:29.85\00:26:33.02 Think about it. If God had changed the Sabbath, 00:26:33.05\00:26:34.99 we'd have bedlam. All right, so Pastor, 00:26:35.02\00:26:40.36 maybe Jesus changed the Sabbath. That was the Old Testament, 00:26:40.40\00:26:45.30 maybe Jesus changed the Sabbath. Let's see what Jesus says. 00:26:45.33\00:26:49.07 Go to Matthew 5, verse number 17. Matthew chapter 5, 00:26:49.10\00:26:54.78 verse number 17. 'Cause it's very clear, the seventh 00:26:54.81\00:26:57.45 day is God's Sabbath. Matthew chapter 5, verse number 17. 00:26:57.48\00:27:00.88 Jesus Himself speaking, He says, "Think not that I am 00:27:00.92\00:27:03.99 come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not 00:27:04.02\00:27:06.45 come to destroy, but to" do what, everybody? Aud.: Fulfill. 00:27:06.49\00:27:08.96 PB: Fulfil. "For verily I say unto you, 00:27:08.99\00:27:10.96 Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle 00:27:10.99\00:27:12.16 shall in no wise pass from the law, 00:27:12.19\00:27:13.36 till all be"--what, everybody? Aud.: Fulfilled. 00:27:13.40\00:27:15.00 PB: Fulfilled. "Whosoever therefore shall break one 00:27:15.03\00:27:17.30 of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, 00:27:17.33\00:27:18.60 he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: 00:27:18.63\00:27:19.90 but whosoever shall do and teach them, 00:27:19.93\00:27:21.54 the same shall be called"--what, everybody? Aud.: Great. 00:27:21.57\00:27:24.34 PB: "Great in the kingdom of heaven." So Jesus says, look, 00:27:24.37\00:27:26.37 I didn't come to change the law. I didn't come 00:27:26.41\00:27:29.04 to change My Sabbath. I didn't come to change it, 00:27:29.08\00:27:31.68 but I came to fulfill it. Aud.: Amen. 00:27:31.71\00:27:34.35 PB: That was not just Old Testament, 00:27:34.38\00:27:37.02 I was doing it in the New Testament. Well, Jesus, 00:27:37.05\00:27:39.25 what do you mean, you were doing it in the New Testament? 00:27:39.29\00:27:40.76 I'm glad you asked. Go to the book of Luke. 00:27:40.79\00:27:42.42 Know what you believe, know why you believe it, 00:27:42.46\00:27:45.89 now where it's found in the Word of God. 00:27:45.93\00:27:47.66 You're a Bible-believing Christian, 00:27:47.66\00:27:48.93 let's read what the Word of God says. 00:27:48.96\00:27:50.33 Luke chapter 4, verse number 16. Jesus said, 00:27:50.37\00:27:54.00 "I didn't come to do away with the law, 00:27:54.04\00:27:55.27 I came to fulfill the law." Luke chapter 4, 00:27:55.30\00:27:57.27 verse number 16, the Word of God says, " 00:27:57.31\00:27:59.21 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: 00:27:59.24\00:28:01.64 and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue." 00:28:01.68\00:28:04.08 Everybody say "synagogue." ud.: Synagogue. 00:28:04.11\00:28:06.11 PB: Synagogue, which was the Jewish church, 00:28:06.15\00:28:07.42 "on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read. 00:28:07.45\00:28:08.98 And there was delivered unto him the book of the 00:28:09.02\00:28:10.52 prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, 00:28:10.55\00:28:12.39 he found the place where it was written, 00:28:12.42\00:28:13.96 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he 00:28:13.99\00:28:15.69 >: Thank you for joining us for another exciting 00:28:15.72\00:28:17.53 Breath of Life television broadcast. 00:28:17.56\00:28:19.96 Tune in next week at the same time, 00:28:20.00\00:28:22.06 as Dr. Byrd will deliver another 00:28:22.10\00:28:23.77 dynamic message from the Lord, just for you. 00:28:23.80\00:28:26.74 Until next time, may God bless you. 00:28:26.77\00:28:29.00 END 00:28:29.04\00:28:44.05
