Aud.: Gates. 00:46 PB: "For in six days the LORD made heaven and"--what? 00:48 Aud.: Earth. PB: "The sea, and all that in them is, 00:50 and rested the"--what day? Aud.: Seventh. 00:51 PB: "Wherefore the LORD blessed the"--what day? 00:54 Aud.: Sabbath. PB: "And hallowed it." 00:56 Turn to your neighbor and say, "Neighbor, 00:57 remember the Sabbath." Aud.: Neighbor. Remember the Sabbath. 01:00 PB: Let's pray. Father in heaven, right now as we go 01:02 into Your Word, we pray the power of Your Holy Ghost 01:05 to remain in this place. God, we would ask that 01:09 You would enlighten our minds and give us open, 01:11 receptive hearts to what Your Word has for us tonight. 01:14 And God, we'll be careful to praise You in advance for 01:17 what You're going to do. So remove and keep the devil 01:20 out of this place tonight, because we need Your 01:22 Holy Spirit to illuminate us and to flow full and free. 01:25 And God, tonight, in advance, I am praising You. 01:30 I am extolling and magnifying Your name because I 01:33 know what You're going to do in this place tonight. 01:35 And it's in the name of Jesus we pray. 01:37 Let everyone say amen, and amen. Aud.: Amen. 01:40 PB: You may be seated tonight. Remember the what, everybody? 01:46 Aud.: Sabbath. PB: Remember the Sabbath day to 01:47 keep it what, everybody? Aud.: Holy. 01:48 PB: All right. Now, love letter number one was 01:51 Thou shalt have no other gods--what? 01:53 Aud.: Before me. PB: Come on, Thou shalt have 01:54 no other gods--what? Aud.: Before me. 01:56 PB: Love letter number two: Thou shalt not make 01:58 unto thee any graven--what? Aud.: Image. 01:59 PB: Love letter number three: Thou shalt not 02:01 take the name of the Lord thy God in--what? 02:03 Aud.: Vain. PB: And then we come to love 02:05 letter number four, which is now remember the--what day? 02:07 Aud.: Sabbath. PB: Come on, remember the--what day? 02:09 Aud.: Sabbath. PB: To keep it--what, everybody? 02:11 Aud.: Holy. PB: Now, let's be very, very clear. 02:12 We keep God's commandments because we love God. 02:15 The Bible says, If ye love me, keep my--what, everybody? 02:18 Aud.: Commandments. PB: So if we're going to tell the 02:20 Lord we love Him, we've got to love God the way He wants 02:22 to be loved. The way He wants to be loved, number one is, 02:25 He says have no other gods before Me. Number two the way 02:28 He wants to be loved, He says don't make any graven--what, everybody? 02:32 Aud.: Image. PB: Images. But not only that, 02:34 love letter number three, He tells us I want you 02:36 to love Me and don't take My name in--what? 02:38 Aud.: Vain. PB: So last night we said watch your what? 02:40 Aud.: Mouth. PB: Watch your mouth. And then love letter 02:43 number four, He is telling us to remember His Sabbath--what? 02:47 Day, to keep it--what, everybody? Aud.: Holy. 02:50 PB: To keep it holy. Now, why does He say that? Well, 02:53 let's understand from the Word of God. 02:55 I'm going to teach you more so than preach you tonight. 02:57 Is that all right? [Aud. reaction] 02:58 PB: All right, there's a famine in the land. 03:00 It's not for bread and water but for the study of 03:02 the Word of God. If we're going to leave out of 03:03 church shouting, let's say something worth shouting about. 03:05 What do you say, everybody? [Aud. reaction] 03:06 PB: All right. Let's go to the Word of God. 03:07 Let's go to Genesis, and let's go to Genesis chapter 1. 03:11 Let's go there first. Now, in the Word of God, 03:13 in Genesis chapter 1, we find and discover, 03:16 it is recorded there, creation week. 03:19 Creation what, everybody? Aud.: Week. 03:20 PB: Creation week. Now, we recognize there 03:22 are how many days in a week? Aud.: Seven. 03:24 PB: Come on, talk to me. How many days in a week? 03:26 Aud.: Seven. PB: There are seven days in a week. 03:29 So we're going to talk about creation week now. Quickly, 03:31 let's go through this, and remember, we are remembering 03:34 God's Sabbath day to keep it holy. He is saying to us, 03:37 if you're going to love Me, love Me how I want to be 03:39 loved and I need you to remember My Sabbath to keep it holy. 03:42 The Word of God says in Genesis 1:1. 03:44 If you have it let me hear you say amen. 03:46 Aud.: Amen. PB: The Word says "In the"--what? 03:48 Aud.: Beginning. PB: "God created the heavens and the"--what? 03:49 Aud.: Earth. PB: Now, let me stop right here. 03:51 I have a lot of text tonight. But the good news is, 03:54 we have supplied or we will supply you on your way 03:57 out with a list of all the texts we give tonight. 04:00 Is that all right, everybody? [Aud. reaction] 04:02 PB: So I'm going to have to move a little swift. 04:04 It's already 8:11, I'm going to try to get you out 04:05 by 8:45. Is that all right, everybody? [Aud. reaction] 04:07 PB: All right, but we've got to move a little swift. 04:09 But I'm just saying, all the texts we have written for you. 04:11 Genesis 1:1 says "In the beginning, God created the 04:15 heavens and the"--what? Aud.: Earth. 04:16 PB: The Bible goes on and verse number 2 says, 04:18 "And the earth was without form and"--what? 04:20 Aud.: Void. PB: "Darkness was upon the face of the"--what? 04:22 Aud.: Earth. PB: "And the Spirit of God moved upon 04:25 the face of the"--what, everybody? Aud.: Waters. 04:27 PB: "And God said, Let there be"--what? Aud.: Light. 04:29 PB: Come on, let there be what? Aud.: Light. 04:31 PB: "And there was"--what?> Aud.: Light. 04:32 PB: There was light. "And God saw that the light 04:34 was good, and God divided the light from the darkness, 04:36 and God called the light"--what, everybody? Aud.: Day. 04:39 PB: And the darkness he called what? Aud.: Night. 04:41 PB: "And the evening and the morning were the"--what day? 04:43 Aud.: First. PB: Okay, so we discover, on day number one, 04:45 God created what, everybody? Aud.: Light. 04:47 PB: The Bible defines light as the evening and the--morning. 04:52 Which means from sunset to sunset. 04:55 Are you hearing what I'm saying? 04:56 So we define a day as we want to define it, 04:59 but God through His Word defines a day as the 05:03 evening and the what? Aud.: Morning. 05:05 PB: Evening and the what? Aud.: Morning. 05:06 PB: Evening and the morning. On day one, 05:08 God created what, everybody? Aud.: Light. 05:09 PB: He created what? Talk to me, He created what? 05:12 Aud.: Light. PB: All right, you gotta talk back to me. 05:14 Saying amen to a preacher is like saying "sic 'em" to a dog. 05:17 So you gotta talk back to me, all right? Day one, 05:19 God created light. There are how many days left in the week? 05:21 Aud.: Six. PB: Six, because there are how many days total? 05:24 Aud.: Seven. PB: How many days have we done thus far? 05:26 Aud.: One. PB: We have how many days left? 05:28 Aud.: Six. PB: All right, let's keep going in 05:30 the Word of God. Go to verse number 6. 05:33 The Word of God says, "And God said, Let there be 05:35 a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let 05:36 it divide the waters from the waters. And God 05:37 made the firmament, and divided the waters which 05:39 were under the firmament from the waters which 05:40 were above the firmament: and it was so. And God 05:43 called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and 05:45 the morning were the"--what day, everybody? 05:46 Aud.: Second. PB: So on day two, God created 05:48 the firmament. He created the what, everybody? 05:50 Aud.: Firmament. PB: Day one, God created what? 05:52 Aud.: Light. PB: Light. Day two, God created the what? 05:55 Aud.: Firmament. PB: Go to verse number 9. 05:57 The Word of God says, "And God said, Let the waters 05:59 under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, 06:02 and let the dry land appear: and it was so. 06:04 And God called the dry land"-- what, everybody? 06:07 Aud.: Earth. PB: "And the gathering together 06:08 of the waters called the Seas: and God saw that 06:11 it was good. And God said, Let the earth bring 06:13 forth grass, the herb yielding seed, 06:15 and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, 06:17 whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: 06:19 and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass, 06:21 and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the 06:23 tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, 06:26 after his kind: and God saw that it was good. 06:28 And the evening and the morning were the"--what day? 06:30 Aud.: Third. PB: All right, so on day three, 06:32 let's summarize it. And God created vegetation. 06:35 Everybody say vegetation. Aud.: Vegetation. 06:37 PB: All right, so on day one, God created what? 06:39 Aud.: Light. PB: Day two, the what? 06:41 Aud.: Firmament. PB: Day three, what? Come on, day one what? 06:44 Aud.: Light. PB: Day two, what? Aud.: Firmament. 06:47 PB: Day three, what? Aud.: Vegetation. 06:49 PB: Verse number 14, "And God said, Let there be 06:52 lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the 06:53 day from the night; and let them be for signs, 06:55 and for seasons, and for days, and years: 06:57 And let them be for lights in the firmament of 06:59 the heaven to give light upon the earth: 07:00 and it was so. And God made two great lights; 07:02 the greater light to rule the day, and the 07:04 lesser light to rule the night: he made the 07:06 stars also. And God set them in the firmament 07:09 of the heaven to give light upon the earth." 07:10 Verse 18, "And to rule over the day and over 07:13 the night, and to divide the light from the 07:15 darkness: and God saw that it was"-- what, everybody? 07:17 Aud.: Good. PB: "And the evening and the morning were the: 07:19 --what day? Aud.: Fourth. PB: So on day four, 07:23 God created the sun. Everybody say sun. 07:24 Aud.: Sun. PB: The moon, and the stars. 07:26 On day four, God created the way? Sun, the-- 07:28 Aud.: Moon. PB: And the-- Aud.: Stars. 07:31 PB: Day one, God created light. Day two, 07:33 the firmament. Day three, vegetation. 07:36 Day four, the sun, the moon, and the what? 07:38 Aud.: Stars. PB: Now, this is why God 07:40 is all that, then some, and the bag of chips. 07:42 Because how was it on day one that God created light, 07:45 but it was not until day four that God created the sun, 07:47 the moon and the stars? God is an awesome God. 07:50 That's why He says I Am That I Am. He created 07:54 light with no sun. I wish I had a witness in this place. 07:57 [Aud. reaction] PB: God is a wonderful God. 08:01 Let's keep reading in the Word of God. Verse number 20. 08:04 "And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly 08:06 the moving creature that hath life, and fowl 08:09 that may fly above the earth in the open 08:10 firmament of heaven. And God created great whales, 08:12 and every living creature that moveth, 08:14 which the waters brought forth abundantly, 08:16 after their kind, and every winged fowl 08:18 after his kind: and God saw that it was"- 08:19 - what, everybody? Aud.: Good. 08:21 PB: Verse 22. "And God blessed them, saying, 08:23 Be fruitful"--and what? Aud.: Multiply. 08:25 PB: "And fill the waters in the seas, 08:26 and let fowl multiply in the earth. 08:28 And the evening and the morning were the"- 08:29 -what day, everybody? Aud.: Fifth day. 08:32 PB: So, on day five--I like to remember 08:34 it by alliteration: F, F, F. God, 08:35 on day five created fish and fowl. 08:38 Are you hearing what I'm saying? 08:40 Fish and fowl. Birds in the air and living 08:43 creatures in the sea. Which means, then, 08:46 on day five God created-- what, everybody? 08:48 Aud.: Fish and fowl. PB: Come on, day five, 08:50 God created what? Aud.: Fish and fowl. 08:51 PB: All right, you're getting a little 08:53 lazy on me. Let me challenge you right now. 08:55 Day one, God created what? Aud.: Light. 08:56 PB: Day two, the what? Aud.: Firmament. 08:58 PB: Day three, the what? Aud.: Vegetation. 08:59 PB: Day five, the what? [Aud. reaction] 09:01 PB: He did not create the sun, moon and stars 09:03 on day five. He created the fish and fowl on day five. 09:07 On day four, he created the sun, the moon and the what? 09:10 Aud.: Stars. PB: Stars. All right, 09:12 so let's try it one more time. Day one, God created what? 09:14 Aud.: Light. PB: Day two, the-- 09:15 Aud.: Firmament. PB: Day three? Aud.: Vegetation. 09:17 PB: Day four? Aud.: Sun, moon and stars. 09:19 PB: Somebody's going "huh"? [Aud. reaction] 09:22 PB: Day five, fish and what? Aud.: Fowl. 09:25 PB: Fish and what? Aud.: Fowl. 09:27 PB: How many days of the week? [Aud. reaction] 09:29 PB: Y'all are making me nervous tonight. 09:34 All right, how many days in a week?Aud.: Seven. 09:36 PB: How many days in a week? Aud.: Seven. 09:40 PB: How many days have we done thus far? 09:42 Aud.: Five. PB: How many days do we have left? 09:44 Aud.: Two. PB: I'm glad we're a-a-a-ll together. 09:48 And God said, verse 24. "Let the earth bring forth 09:53 the living creature after his kind, cattle, 09:56 and creeping thing, and beast of the earth 09:58 after his kind: and it was so. And God made 09:59 the beast of the earth after his kind, 10:01 and cattle after their kind, and every 10:02 thing that creepeth upon the earth after 10:04 his kind: and God saw that it was"-- what, everybody? 10:06 Aud.: Good. PB: "And God said, Let us make 10:09 man in our"--own what? Aud.: Image. 10:12 PB: "After our"--what? Aud.: Likeness. 10:13 PB: All right, let's stop there. So we recognize, 10:15 man did not come from monkey. Man came from God. 10:19 I wish I had a witness in this place. 10:21 [Aud. reaction] PB: Man came from God. 10:22 God said, "Let us make man in our own image 10:25 after our likeness." Also, this verse lets me 10:27 know the plurality of the godhead. God the Father, 10:29 God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. 10:32 The text does not say, "And God said let 10:34 me make man," but the text says "And God said 10:37 let us make man." The Father, the Son, 10:39 and the Holy Ghost. Three in one, the Father, 10:42 Son and Holy Ghost, working to bring about our salvation. 10:46 God said, "Let us make man in our own image after 10:49 our own likeness: and let them have dominion 10:50 over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl 10:52 of the air, and over the cattle, and over 10:54 all the earth, and over every creeping 10:55 thing that creepeth upon the earth." 10:57 Verse number 27, "So God created man 10:59 in his own"-- what, everybody? Aud.: Image. 11:01 PB: Come on, God created man in His own what? 11:03 Aud.: Image. PB: "In the image of God 11:05 created he him; male and" what? Aud.: Female. 11:07 PB: Male and what? Aud.: Female. 11:09 PB: Say it like you mean it. Aud.: Female! 11:11 PB: I'm glad we're together. "Created he them. 11:17 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, 11:20 Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, 11:21 and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish 11:22 of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, 11:24 and over every living thing that moveth 11:25 upon the earth. And God said, Behold, 11:27 I have given you every herb bearing seed, 11:29 which is upon the face of all the earth, 11:31 and every tree, in the which is the fruit 11:32 of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall 11:34 be for"-- what, everybody? Aud.: Mean. 11:36 PB: "And to every beast of the earth, 11:37 and to every fowl of the air, and to every 11:38 thing that creepeth upon the earth, 11:39 wherein there is life, I have given every 11:41 green herb for meat: and it was so. 11:42 And God saw every thing that he had made, 11:44 and, behold, it was very"-- what, everybody? 11:46 Aud.: Good. PB: "And the evening and the 11:47 morning were the"--what day? Aud.: Sixth. 11:50 PB: All right, so on day six God created 11:52 mammal and man. Mammal and man. Now remember, 11:59 all this ties in to the fact that God says, 12:01 If you love Me, keep My commandments. 12:02 God says his commandment number four 12:05 love letter is: Remember My day to keep 12:07 it holy. This was how this all ties in together. 12:09 There are how many days of the week? 12:11 Aud.: Seven. PB: How many days of the week? 12:12 Aud.: Seven. PB: On day one in creation week, 12:14 God created what? Aud.: Light. 12:16 PB: Day two He created the-- Aud.: Firmament. 12:17 PB: Day three He created-- Aud.: Vegetation. 12:19 PB: Day four the sun, the moon and the-- 12:21 Aud.: Stars. PB: Day five, fish and-- 12:23 Aud.: Fowl. PB: Day six, mammal and what? 12:25 Aud.: Man. PB: Go to Genesis 2. Verse number 1, 12:29 the Word of God says, and "Thus the heavens and 12:35 the earth were"--what, everybody? "And all the 12:38 host of them." Verse number 2. "And on the"--what day? 12:42 Aud.: Seventh. PB: Come on, what day? 12:45 Aud.: Seventh. PB: God did what? 12:46 Aud.: "Ended his work which he had made; 12:49 and he" did what, everybody? He rested on the what day? 12:52 Aud.: Seventh. PB: From all his work which he had"--what? 12:54 Aud.: Made. PB: "And God blessed the"--what day? 12:56 Aud.: Seventh. PB: And He did what else, everybody? 12:58 Aud.: Rested. PB: "Because that in it he had 13:00 rested from all his work which God created and"- 13:02 - what, everybody? Aud.: Made. PB: Okay, 13:04 so let's stop there. On day one God created light. 13:06 Day two the firmament. Day three, vegetation. 13:08 Day four, sun, moon and stars. Day five, fish and fowl. 13:11 Day six, mammal and man. But on day seven, the Bible 13:15 says the heavens and the earth were finished; that 13:18 God rested on the seventh day. But then the text says 13:22 God blessed the seventh day. But then the text also 13:26 says God sanctified the seventh day. He blessed it, 13:30 He rested, and He sanctified it. Are you hearing 13:33 what I'm saying? Now remember, we're loving God 13:35 the way Gods wants to be loved. God said in His love 13:38 letters, Remember the Sabbath day to keep it what? 13:40 Holy. Then the Bible says in creation week that on 13:43 day number seven God rested, He blessed it, 13:47 and He sanctified it. Which lets me know there's 13:50 something special about that seventh day. 13:52 So let me study a little bit more about 13:54 what the special something is. So then, 13:57 I read Genesis chapter 2, verses 1 through 3, 13:59 and I read Genesis chapter 1, and I say, well, 14:02 let me get something now from Exodus. So I go 14:04 over to Exodus and I read God's love letters 14:06 in Exodus chapter 20, verses 8 through 11. 14:08 And God begins with the word "Remember." 14:10 Now notice, in commandments one, two and three, 14:13 in love letters one, two and three, God begins 14:15 with the words "Thou shalt not." But notice 14:17 in commandment number four love letter, 14:20 God begins with the word "Remember." 14:22 In commandment one, Thou shalt have no other 14:24 gods before Me. In commandment number two, 14:26 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image. 14:28 In commandment number three, Thou shalt not 14:30 take the name of the Lord thy God in vain. 14:32 But yet in commandment number four He says, 14:34 Remember. God, who's all-knowing because He's 14:37 omniscient, God knew, because He knows the 14:41 beginning from the end, that somebody, 14:44 sometime would try to change His love. 14:48 God knew that, which is why God doesn't say, 14:50 Thou shalt keep the Sabbath holy. But God says, 14:54 Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy. 14:56 Just in case somebody forgets. Are you hearing what 14:58 I'm saying? Remember the Sabbath day, Exodus 20:8, 15:03 go there. To keep it holy. "Six days shalt thou 15:07 labour and do all thy work, but the seventh day 15:09 is the"-- what, everybody? Aud.: Sabbath. 15:11 PB: "Of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not 15:13 do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, 15:15 thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, 15:17 nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: 15:19 For in"--how many days? [Aud. reaction] 15:21 PB: Come on, how many days? Aud.: Six days. 15:23 PB: Six days. What did the Lord do? [Aud. reaction] 15:25 PB: He made "heaven and earth, the sea, 15:27 and all that in them is, and"--then did what? 15:29 Aud.: Rested. PB: "Rested the seventh day.: 15:31 What else did He do on the seventh day? 15:33 He blessed it, and He did what, everybody? 15:35 [Aud. reaction]Rested. PB: There it is again. 15:38 He rested. Blessed it. Sanctified it, or hallowed it. 15:41 Are you hearing what I'm saying? But let's go a 15:43 step further. Go on in Exodus to Exodus chapter 31. 15:46 We've got someone that's saying, "Okay, it's clear. 15:49 God is saying if we're going to love Him, 15:51 keep His commandments. And if we're going to keep 15:53 His commandments and love Him, we've got to 15:54 remember His day to keep it holy. But then go to 15:57 Exodus chapter 31. And I want you, if you will, 16:00 to go to verse number 12. Exodus chapter 31 and 16:04 verse number 12. The Word of God says, "And the 16:07 LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak thou also 16:10 unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my 16:12 Sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a"--what, everybody? 16:15 Aud.: Sign. PB: Come on, talk to me, it is a what, everybody? 16:18 Aud.: Sign. PB: "Between me and you throughout 16:20 your generations." Which means it doesn't stop. 16:23 "That ye may know that I am the LORD that doth 16:26 sanctify you. Ye shall keep the Sabbath therefore; 16:29 for it is"-- what, everybody? It is what, everybody? 16:32 Aud.: Holy. PB: It is holy unto you. 16:34 "Every one that defileth it shall surely be put to death: 16:36 for whosoever doeth any work therein, that soul shall 16:39 be cut off from among his people. Six days may work 16:41 be done; but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest, 16:44 holy to the LORD: whosoever doeth any work in the 16:46 sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death. 16:49 Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, 16:51 to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, 16:54 for a perpetual covenant. It is a sign between me 16:58 and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days 17:01 the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh 17:03 day he rested, and was refreshed. And he gave unto Moses, 17:05 when he had made an end of communing with him upon 17:07 mount Sinai, two tables of testimony, tables of stone, 17:11 written with the finger of God." If God said it, that settles it. 17:16 [Aud. reaction] PB: The Sabbath was to be a sign 17:20 between God and His people forever. It was to be a 17:26 perpetual covenant. Nothing was to change about it. 17:29 Why would God change His law. God does not change. 17:33 Remember the Sabbath day to keep it-- what, everybody? 17:36 Aud.: Holy. PB: All right, we said Genesis, 17:37 we said Exodus. Go to Leviticus 23. Go to verse number 3. 17:42 I say it all the time: Know what you believe, 17:45 know why you believe it, and know where it's found. 17:49 Know the Word of God for yourself. Leviticus 17:52 chapter 23 and we're going to verse number 3. 17:54 Leviticus chapter 23 and we're going to verse number 3. 17:59 The Word of God says in Leviticus chapter 23, 18:02 verse number 3, " Six days shall work be done: 18:05 but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest." 18:09 The Sabbath of"--what, everybody? Aud.: Rest. 18:13 PB: "An holy convocation; ye shall do no work 18:15 therein: it is the"-- what, everybody? 18:17 Aud.: Sabbath. PB: "Of the LORD in all your 18:18 dwellings." Okay, so, we understand God says if 18:21 you're going to love Me, keep My commandments. 18:23 If you're going to love Me, remember My day to 18:25 keep it holy. Then the Bible says that the 18:27 Sabbath is to be a holy convocation. Now, 18:30 let's unpack what holy convocation is. We 18:33 know what holy means, because holy is synonymous 18:35 with sanctified. Sanctified means set apart. 18:37 When we talk about something being holy, 18:39 we're talking about setting it apart. 18:40 Are you hearing what I'm saying? 18:42 The Sabbath is holy. The Sabbath is sanctified. 18:44 The Sabbath is set apart. But not only that, 18:47 the Bible says on God's Sabbath it is to be a 18:49 holy convocation. Which means, convocation by 18:53 definition is a coming together. Convocation 18:55 by definition is an assembly. When we say we're 18:58 having a youth convocation, we're saying a youth 19:00 coming together. When we say a senior adult convocation, 19:03 we're saying a senior adult coming together. 19:06 When we say a holy convocation, we're saying 19:09 a holy coming together, which is why on God's 19:12 seventh-day Sabbath, because He rested, 19:15 because He blessed it, because He sanctified it, 19:17 it is a holy convocation. A holy convocation means 19:21 a holy coming together, a holy assembly. 19:23 I find myself in God's house on God's Sabbath, 19:26 because I love God. It's a holy gathering, 19:29 it's a holy assembly, it's a holy coming together. 19:31 I was glad when they said unto me, let us go 19:36 into the house of the Lord. But it gets better. 19:43 Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus. Go to Deuteronomy 5. 19:50 Go to Deuteronomy 5, verse number 12. Now, 19:58 I'm a firm believer that repetition deepens 20:00 the impression. So if God says something once, 20:04 you know it means something. But if God says 20:07 something twice, you sure enough know it 20:09 means something. When you go to Deuteronomy 20:12 chapter 5, verse number 12--when you have it, 20:15 let me hear you say amen. Aud.: Amen. 20:18 PB: Deuteronomy chapter 5 verse number 12, 20:21 the Word of God says, "Keep the sabbath day 20:24 to sanctify it, as the LORD thy God hath 20:27 commanded thee. Six days thou shalt labour, 20:29 and do all thy work: But the seventh day is 20:31 the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou 20:32 shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, 20:34 nor thy daughter, nor thy manservant, 20:36 nor thy maidservant, nor thine ox, 20:38 nor thine ass, nor any of thy cattle, 20:39 nor thy stranger that is within thy gates; 20:41 that thy manservant and thy maidservant may 20:44 rest as well as thou." But this is what I 20:48 like about verse 15. "And remember that 20:50 thou wast a servant in the land of Egypt, 20:52 and that the LORD thy God brought thee out 20:55 thence through a mighty hand and by a stretched 20:57 out arm: therefore the LORD thy God commanded 21:02 thee to keep the sabbath day." What is God saying? 21:07 God is saying, look, you were in Egypt tending 21:11 flesh pots. You were in Egypt working for the man. 21:15 You were in Egypt and you were a slave. 21:18 But I am the One who brought you out of bondage. 21:21 I am the One who brought you out of slavery. 21:24 I am the One who brought you out of working 21:27 for the man, and I have now set you free. 21:29 And in homage to Me, you're going to keep 21:32 My Sabbath day holy. Because it's My hand 21:36 that brought you out. If you're going to love Me, 21:42 love Me in the way that I want you to love Me. 21:48 I told you on night number one, I learned in 21:51 19 years of marriage with my wife, I've got to 21:54 love her the way she wants to be loved. 21:56 I can't take her to a basketball game on her birthday. 22:00 That's what I want, but that's not what she wants. 22:04 Are you hearing what I'm saying? You've got to 22:06 love God in the way God wants to be loved, 22:09 not the way you feel you ought to love God. 22:13 Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Deuteronomy. 22:18 Go to Isaiah. Isaiah 58. Let's work our way 22:24 through the Word tonight. Some people go to church, 22:27 they shout and they get out of church and it's "Oo, 22:29 we had church tonight. We were shouting." 22:31 "What you all shouting about?" 22:33 "I don't know, but we were shouting." 22:35 [Aud. reaction] PB: Tonight when you walk out 22:36 of here, you're going to know why you were shouting. 22:37 Do I have a witness in this place? 22:39 Thy word have I hid in my heart, 22:41 that I might not sin against thee. 22:42 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a 22:44 light unto my path. To the law and to 22:46 the testimony, if they speak not according 22:49 to this Word, it is because there is no light 22:51 in them, and I ain't following nobody in darkness. 22:53 I wish I had a witness in this place. 22:55 [Aud. reaction] PB: Isaiah 58, verse 13. 22:59 Isaiah 58, verse 13. If you have it, 23:02 let me hear you say amen. Aud.: Amen. 23:04 PB: The Word of God speaks to us tonight in 23:06 Isaiah chapter 58, verse number 13. The Word 23:08 of God says--I'm finding it myself- 23:11 -the Word of God says in Isaiah 58, 23:13 verse number 13. "If thou turn away 23:15 thy foot from the sabbath, from doing 23:17 thy pleasure on my holy day; and call 23:19 the sabbath a"--what, everybody? Aud.: Delight. 23:21 PB: "The holy of the LORD, honourable; 23:22 and shalt honour him, not doing thine own"--what? 23:24 Aud.: Ways. PB: Ways, "Nor finding 23:26 thine own"--what? "Pleasure, nor speaking thine own"- 23:28 - what, everybody? Aud.: Words. 23:30 PB: "Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; 23:31 and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places 23:33 of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of 23:35 Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD 23:36 hath spoken it." All right. So then, on God's 23:40 Sabbath, it's not a day of drudgery. 23:42 God's Sabbath is not a day of morbidity. 23:46 God's Sabbath, the Bible says, 23:48 should be a delight. Should be a what, everybody? 23:50 Aud.: Delight. PB: Which means, 23:52 I look forward to spending time on God's Sabbath. 23:54 I look forward to spending time with God on 23:56 God's Sabbath, because I love me some God. 23:59 I wish I had some more loveth of the Lord, tonight. 24:01 [Aud. reaction] PB: I love me some God, 24:03 and so because I love God, I don't do mine own ways. 24:06 I don't find my own pleasure. I don't speak my own words. 24:10 Because it's my day with God. You see, understand, 24:14 I love to go to the State Warriors. And I'm hoping 24:19 they do it again. Come on, say amen. But understand, 24:21 on God's Sabbath I can't fool with the Warriors, 24:22 because it's my time with God. Are you hearing 24:24 what I'm saying? Because I understand on God's Sabbath, 24:27 I have a date with God. Let me make this plain. 24:30 You know my wife is beautiful. She's sitting right 24:32 there on row number three at the end. Say amen for my wife. 24:35 Aud.: Amen. PB: So, we used to be students on this campus, 24:39 a long time ago. Long time ago. I graduated from 24:44 college over 20 years ago. I don't look that old, 24:46 do I? Say amen! Aud.: Amen. PB: When you're 24:48 supposed to say amen, you don't say amen, and when you-- 24:53 But when I was a student on this campus, 24:57 I saw that wonderful young lady in the gym. 25:01 And she was playing volleyball, and I was the ref. 25:05 Come on, say amen. [Aud. reaction] 25:07 PB: And I saw her playing volleyball. 25:10 I said, Oo, she's fine!! [Aud. reaction] 25:14 PB: And I have a twin brother. You know, 25:16 I didn't want to get sent out of here, 25:17 as the young people say. So I said to my brother, 25:19 "Go tell her that she has an admirer." 25:22 And sure enough, he messed the whole thing up 25:24 and went and told her everything. But as it were, 25:26 when I was dating my wife, I couldn't do what I now do. 25:31 So I said, "Would you like to go out with me on a date?" 25:34 She said, "Sure." Now, she probably thought she was 25:38 going to Olive Garden, or somewhere nice. But you know, 25:43 I was on a budget. Come on, say amen. I was in college. 25:46 College is a temporary state of poverty. 25:48 I wish I had a witness in this place. 25:51 [Aud. reaction] PB: And I said, "Baby, I'm taking you out." 25:53 "Do you know where we're going?" I said, "It's a surprise." 25:56 Got in my car, took her to a nice restaurant, 26:01 better known to us as the Golden Arches. 26:03 You all don't hear what I'm saying. 26:05 [Aud. reaction] PB: McDonalds. She said, 26:06 "Are we going here?" "Yes, you can supersize that thing. 26:09 " Come on, say amen! [Aud. reaction] 26:11 PB: But I'm sitting with her in the Golden Arches, 26:15 and I'm on a date with my wife. Now, I'm not looking 26:18 to the left, I'm not looking to the right, I'm looking 26:21 straight at my wife, because I have a date with my wife. 26:24 Are you hearing what I'm saying? My attentions are on her, 26:27 because I'm focusing on her, and I'm wanting her to 26:31 focus in on me, because I'm on a date with my wife. 26:34 Are you hearing what I'm saying? I dressed my best; 26:37 I smelled my best; I was talking my best, 26:41 because I was on a date with my wife. 26:44 How much more son, on God's seventh day Sabbath, 26:46 that we come into the house of God for a holy convocation. 26:51 I'm on a date with my God. I look my best, 26:54 I smell my best, I act my best, I worship my best, 26:58 I praise Him my best, because I have a date with God! 27:05 [Aud. reaction] PB: Not speaking my own words; 27:12 not doing my own pleasure; not finding my own ways, 27:19 because I'm on a date with God. And just like it was 27:25 a delight with my wife at the Golden Arches, 27:28 it's a delight every seventh-day Sabbath for 27:34 me to have a date and commune with my God. 27:39 But go a step further. Go to Isaiah 66. 27:43 On the seventh day God rested, blessed and 27:49 sanctified it. But go to Isaiah 66, 27:52 and go to verse number 22. The Lord lets us 27:56 know that His Sabbath is a perpetual covenant 27:58 throughout generations. Not just in the here 28:01 and now but also in the heaven to come. 28:03 The Word of God says, Isaiah 66, verse 22. 28:06 If you have it, let me hear you say amen. 28:07 Aud.: Amen. PB: The Word of God says in 28:09 verse number 22 of Isaiah 66, "For as the new 28:11 heavens and the new earth, which I will make, 28:13 shall remain before me, saith the LORD, 28:14 so shall your"--what, everybody? 28:16 >: Thank you for joining us for another 28:17 exciting Breath of Life television broadcast. 28:19 Tune in next week at the same time, 28:20 as Dr. Byrd will deliver another dynamic 28:22 message from the Lord, just for you. 28:25 Until next time, may God bless you. 28:27 END |
