Probably the first
city that a child comes

not talking about Bethlehem,

Pennsylvania. But I'm
talking about Bethlehem

in the West Bank,
between Jordan and Israel.

But what's so
special about this Bethlehem?

After all, it's
nothing but a small Palestinian

city with about
50,000 people, about 5 miles

south of Jerusalem.
There are currently only 30

hotels in Bethlehem.
There is no big university,

no state-of-the-art
hospital, no sports franchise,

no large mall. There is
no Walmart, that I know of,

in Bethlehem. What, then,
is so special about Bethlehem?

Well it was, over 2,000
years ago, that Bethlehem

witnessed the most
amazing miracle this world has

ever seen. More
profound than healing a leper;

more compelling than
restoring of sight to the blind;

more powerful than
the raising of the dead;

more commanding
than casting out demons.

The miracle that I'm
talking about today took

place in Bethlehem
over 2,000 years ago when

the Son of God was born;
when the God-Man was born;

when Jesus Christ
was born. The story of

Bethlehem is the
story of God becoming man.

But He didn't stop
being God; He merely added

humanity to His deity.
Because in His divinity,

He's God's way to
man. But in His humanity,

He's man's way back on
up to God. Miraculously,

within Mary's womb, then some

Mary gave birth to a son.

Bethlehem. Let's go the Word,

talked about and prophesied,

where it was prophesied
that Jesus would be born

in Bethlehem. In 40
words in this verse,

story of this special town;

a little town that
would produce great things.

Somebody knows that
big things sometimes

come in small
packages.But why Bethlehem?

God could have chosen Jericho.

God could have chosen Jerusalem.

God could have chosen Damascus.

God could have chosen Hebron or

any number of
other impressive cities,

but God chose
Bethlehem. Why? Well,

the name Bethlehem
means house of bread.

How fitting,
then, that Jesus is born

was the beginning of

an earth-changing
event God wanted to

bring about in our
lives. Jesus is the

Bread of Life.   
Now, in the United States

alone, I don't now
about you, but I like bread.

Do I have a witness
in this place? Do I have

another witness in
this place? But we eat in

this country 34 million
loaves of bread every day,

and that's just
loaves of bread. That's

not all the rolls -

the bagels - - come

Pitas, donuts and all
dozens of other kinds of

bread we also eat.
Throughout history, bread

has been the main
staple of food. Bread is what

many people live and
depend on to survive.

In fact, bread has been
called the staple of life.

But Jesus said, “I am
the Bread of Life. He that

cometh to me shall never
hunger. He that believeth

on me shall never
thirst.” So then, Jesus was born

in the house of bread
because Jesus is the Bread of

Life that takes
away the sins of life.

Bethlehem. The house of bread.

rage that a paranoid king

Herod called the stargazers

secretly and found out
the exact time when the

sent them to Bethlehem,

soon as you find him,”

But Herod was lying.

because Herod wasn't trying

was trying to kill Jesus.

backer of Bethlehem;

butcher of Bethlehem.

Herod's plan to kill all

reasons people have enemies.

and doesn't like himself

kickstand here, and it's my

the true Christmas

Claus, Christmas trees,

partridge in a pear tree.

the three gifts of
gold, frankincense and

myrrh that were given
to Jesus. The Bible says

Bible never says three wise men.

The truth is, we
don't really know how many

men were men of

If they were, they
