The next what, everybody? 08:57 "Came almost the whole city together to hear the word of" 09:00 whom, everybody? 09:01 (Aud: God) Three things we learn from this text. 09:03 Number one, we clearly learn after Jesus' death the Sabbath 09:06 was still kept. 09:08 That's clear. 09:09 After Jesus' death the Sabbath was still kept. 09:11 Paul and Barnabas were after Jesus' death. 09:13 Are you hearing what I'm saying? 09:15 Number two, even under grace. 09:20 When we in grace we don't have to keep God's laws, that means 09:24 we can go shoot and kill some people because you're under 09:28 grace? 09:29 We're under grace, we don't--no, no, no. 09:31 They were still persuaded to continue in the grace of God 09:34 and still observe God's Sabbath. 09:37 Number three, the Sabbath is not just for Jews. 09:40 The Sabbath is for Jews and the Sabbath is for Gentiles 09:46 because the Sabbath is for everybody. 09:50 Jesus died for everybody. 09:52 Now, let's expand our minds. 09:55 Let's say that somebody comes up to you or maybe you, your own 09:58 self, erroneously had believed prior to tonight that, well, 10:04 the Sabbath was changed 10:09 because Jesus died and there was no more need 10:14 for the Sabbath. 10:17 Or the Sabbath was changed because Jesus rose on another 10:20 day other than the Sabbath. 10:22 So because of that, you know, we don't have to deal with 10:24 that Sabbath thing. 10:25 That's not binding. 10:26 Now, I don't understand that logic when you can say, keep all 10:30 the other ten commandments, don't lie, don't kill, 10:32 don't steal, don't commit adultery, 10:34 don't do all that, but you don't have to observe the Sabbath. 10:37 Well, let's expand or minds. 10:40 The reason why that's a weak argument to say that the Sabbath 10:47 was done away with at the cross is because the Sabbath 10:52 was instituted before man had even sinned. 10:59 In Genesis 1, creation. 11:04 Are you hearing me? 11:05 In Genesis 1, creation. 11:09 In Genesis 2, the institution of the Sabbath. 11:15 In Genesis 3, the fall of man or the first sin, 11:21 when Adam and Eve ate of the fruit when God told 11:23 them don't do it. 11:24 Creation, Genesis 1, the Sabbath instituted in Genesis 2, 11:29 in Genesis 3, the fall of man. 11:32 The Sabbath was in place before the fall of man. 11:37 The reason Jesus had to go to Calvary is because of the fall 11:43 of man, because man sinned, Jesus had to go to Calvary. 11:49 If man had never sinned, there would have been no need 11:52 for Jesus to go to Calvary. 11:54 Beloved, there is no other name under which we can be saved 11:59 but the name of Jesus. 12:01 Through Jesus' shed blood we have forgiveness of sin. 12:05 Jesus, yes, died for my sins. 12:07 Jesus, yes, rose, but that had nothing to do with changing 12:15 the Sabbath because the Sabbath was in place before man 12:21 had already sinned. 12:24 Hebrews 4. 12:25 I'm working my way down to the end. 12:30 Hebrews 4:4, "For he spake in a 12:42 certain place of the seventh day on this wise, and God did rest 12:46 the seventh day from all his works. 12:49 And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest. 12:51 Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, 12:54 and they to whom it was first preached entered not in 12:57 because of unbelief." 13:02 Now, I'm reading straight from the Word tonight. It may 13:04 be different, but I'm reading from the Word. 13:07 They entered not in because of unbelief. 13:12 Verse 7: "Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, 13:14 Today, after so long a time; as it is said, Today if ye will 13:17 hear his" what? 13:18 (Aud: Voice) Harden not your what? 13:20 (Aud: Hearts) "For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he 13:23 not afterward have spoken of another day. 13:25 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God." If God 13:35 had changed his day, if God had changed the Sabbath, if he had 13:39 given another day of rest, don't you think he would have 13:41 told us? 13:44 All right, Pastor Byrd. 13:45 It's clear. 13:49 You were right Saturday night. 13:51 You were right Sunday night. 13:53 That Satan is a deceiver. 13:55 That Satan is a liar. 13:58 Pastor Byrd, you were right. 14:00 He's a liar and there's no truth in him. 14:05 And this whole thing boils down to who are we going to give 14:09 our worship to? 14:10 And if I'm going to worship God, yeah, I clap my hands when 14:14 the praise team sings. 14:16 Yes, I'll clap my hands when committed sings. 14:19 But they that worship God must worship God 14:23 in spirit and in truth. 14:30 All right, Pastor Byrd, you're clear. 14:32 The Word of God is clear. 14:33 So, Pastor, if the seventh day is the Sabbath, the seventh day 14:38 is God's seal, the Sabbath was in place before man sinned, 14:46 so we recognize that even though man sinned and Jesus 14:48 had to go to Calvary, the Sabbath was in place 14:50 before man sinned. 14:53 So that couldn't be nullified at the cross, the Sabbath, 14:55 because it was already in place. 14:59 So, Pastor Byrd, how do we know which day is the Sabbath? 15:10 How do we know which day is the Sabbath? 15:17 Somebody wants the Bible to say remember Saturday 15:22 to keep it holy. 15:24 Remember this day to keep it holy. 15:27 Can we be real? 15:29 The rule of common sense. 15:31 The Bible does not say, and I say this all the time, the Bible 15:34 does not say thou shalt not smoke crack. 15:36 But the Bible does say 15:45 that your body and my body, our bodies, 15:47 are God's temples. 15:49 And so the Bible gives us principles by which we live. 15:52 Let's be clear on that. 15:56 How do we know which day? 15:58 All right. 15:59 I told you we were going to work our way down to the end. 16:02 Go to Revelation 1:10. 16:15 The Word of God says, John himself speaking, 16:19 I, John, "was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, 16:27 and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet." 16:35 Now notice, the text does not say anything about 16:40 what number day John was in the Spirit, the text just 16:44 says that I, John, was in the Spirit on 16:48 the Lord's day. 16:50 Because a lot of people try to tell you this text as license 16:53 to keep whatever day they want as the Sabbath. 16:56 John says he was in the Spirit on the Lord's day. 16:59 It does not say which day was the Lord's day. 17:01 It just says John was in the Spirit on the Lord's day. 17:05 Now go back to Mark 2:27-28. 17:13 The Word of God says, stay with me, 17:22 "He said unto them, The sabbath was made for" 17:27 what? 17:28 Man, and not man for the what? 17:30 (Aud: Sabbath) Therefore the Son of man is also Lord of the what? 17:34 (Aud: Sabbath) Now, if Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath 17:38 and the Sabbath day, then is it not logical 17:42 to deduce that the Sabbath is the Lord's day? 17:47 If he's Lord of the Sabbath day, why then wouldn't the Sabbath 17:50 be his day? 17:53 Now, if we go to a dictionary, Saturday is defined 17:56 as the seventh day of the week. 17:59 Any dictionary that has not been tainted. 18:02 I wish I had a witness in this place. 18:05 Saturday is the seventh day. 18:06 That's what the dictionary says. 18:09 If you talk to someone who speaks Spanish, 18:11 Sabado is the root word for Saturday, Sabado 18:16 from the root word Sabaoth, meaning the Sabbath. 18:21 If you talk to any Orthodox Jew, they will tell you that Saturday 18:26 is the Sabbath. 18:28 But remember you all, our rule is not to go to the dictionary, 18:33 our rule is not to go to another man, our rule 18:37 it go to the Word of God. 18:39 Which day then is the Sabbath? 18:42 Go to Luke 23:50. 19:07 "And, behold, there was a man named Joseph, a counsellor; 19:12 and he was a good man, and a just: 19:14 (The same had no consented to the counsel and deed 19:17 of them;) he was of Arimathaea, 19:19 a city of the Jews: who also himself waited 19:21 for the kingdom of God. 19:22 This man went unto Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. 19:25 And he took it down, and wrapped it in linens, and laid it in 19:27 a sepulcher that was hewn in stone, wherein never man 19:30 before was laid. 19:31 And that day was the" what, everybody? 19:48 Took his body down from the cross. 19:50 That day, verse 54, was the preparation, 19:52 and the sabbath drew on. 19:54 Which means, the Sabbath came after Good Friday, 19:56 the preparation day. 19:58 The women also, verse 55, "which came with him 20:00 and beheld the sepulcher, ter, and how his body was laid. 20:03 And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments: and rested 20:07 the" what day? 20:08 Come on, rested the what day? 20:11 (Aud: Sabbath) "According to the" what? 20:13 (Aud: Commandment) On day seven, Saturday, the Sabbath, Jesus' 20:17 body laid resting in the grave, Jesus was obedient 20:20 to God's commandment even in death. 20:22 Luke 24:1. 20:26 "Now upon the first day of the week, very early 20:33 in the morning, they came unto the sepulcher, 20:35 bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others 20:37 with them. 20:38 And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulcher. 20:40 And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus. 20:42 And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, 20:46 behold." How many men, everybody? 20:48 "Two men stood by them in shining garments: 20:50 And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces 20:52 to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek 20:54 ye the living among the dead? 20:56 He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you 20:58 when he was yet in Galilee, saying, The Son of man must be 21:00 delivered into the hands of sinful men, 21:02 and be crucified, and the third day rise again. 21:04 And they remembered his words." 21:06 Which means, friends of mine, what day is the Sabbath? 21:10 The Bible is clear. 21:12 Good Friday, the sixth day, preparation day, Jesus died 21:16 on Calvary. 21:17 His body was taken down from the cross. 21:19 On the seventh day, Sabbath, Saturday, his body lay 21:24 resting in the grave. 21:26 On the first day of the week, early Sunday morning, 21:30 Christianity says today, Easter Sunday morning, 21:34 Jesus rose. 21:35 Because after day seven you've got to go back 21:38 to day number one. 21:39 Are you hearing what I'm saying? 21:40 The Bible is clear that the seventh day, Saturday, 21:44 is the Sabbath. 21:45 Which means, because it's a holy convocation, I find myself in 21:52 God's church on God's Sabbath, lifting the name of Jesus. 21:57 Yes, I may have come this night. 22:00 Yes, I may have come that night. 22:02 But on God's seventh day Sabbath, a day of rest, 22:10 evening unto evening. 22:14 Well, Pastor Byrd, man, this is tough. 22:17 Pastor Byrd, this is hard. 22:22 I'm telling you because I love you, and God told me to tell you 22:27 this because he loves you. 22:30 And if you love God you will keep his commandments. 22:42 Now we're righteous in the sight of God, but as filthy rags. 22:47 In and of myself I cannot save myself. 22:52 Yes, I keep God's Sabbath, but in and of myself 22:55 I cannot save myself. 22:57 I told you, just as the woman says, 23:00 I go to Sabbath every week, I go to Sabbath, yeah, yeah, 23:04 yeah. 23:05 The devil goes to church, too. 23:11 But I keep God's Sabbath. 23:13 I observe God's Sabbath because I love me some Jesus. 23:18 And Jesus says, if you love me, keep my commandments, 23:21 but not only that, we've got to learn, 23:23 friends of mine, if we're serious about loving Jesus, 23:25 we've got to love Jesus the way Jesus wants us to love him. 23:32 We don't love Jesus the way we want to love Jesus. 23:34 I love Jesus. 23:35 Well, love him the way he wants to be loved. 23:38 Our wives want us to love them the way they want to be loved. 23:42 Husbands want their wives to love them the way 23:44 they want to be loved. 23:46 You've got to love the Lord the way the Lord wants 23:48 to be loved, not the way you want 23:50 to be loved. 23:51 Well, Pastor Byrd, it's just a day. 23:55 God is a God of specifics. 23:58 Pastor Byrd, it's just a day, and if Adam and Eve were 24:02 here they would say it was just fruit. 24:12 It looked good. 24:15 It tasted good. 24:18 But God says, it's not what I wanted. 24:21 I told you don't eat of the tree of good and evil in the middle 24:24 of the garden. 24:25 Don't do it. 24:26 If you do it you shall what, everybody? 24:28 Die. 24:29 God is a god of specifics. 24:30 You don't believe me, ask Cain. 24:36 Well, Cain gave God his best. 24:38 It could have been his best fruits, best grains 24:40 and vegetables, but God said, 24:42 I need a sacrifice. 24:44 And God said, I can't accept a sacrifice without 24:46 the shedding of blood. 24:47 So, yes, Abel brought a sacrifice. 24:52 Cain brought a sacrifice and it was Cain's best, but God didn't 24:56 accept it because it was not what God asked for. 25:05 I'm giving God my worship. 25:10 I'm giving God my praise. 25:12 But is it the worship and praise 25:21 that God asked for. 25:22 Go to Matthew 7, verse 21. 25:34 "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into 25:46 the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father 25:52 which is in heaven. 25:53 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not 25:56 prophesied in thy name? 25:57 and in they name have cast out devils? 25:59 And in thy name done many wonderful works?" 26:01 God, I sang in the praise team. 26:03 God, I sang in the choir. 26:04 God, I ushered. 26:05 God, I sold fish dinner. 26:06 But did you do my will? 26:12 Verse 23: "And then will I profess unto them, I never knew 26:15 you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity."
