04:48 A day represents a year. 04:51 So instead of saying 490 days, what is really being 04:55 prophesied here is 490 years. 05:02 Now, let's get some more word. 05:04 Know what you believe, know why you believe it, and know 05:06 where it's found. 05:07 Go to verse 25. 05:09 "Know therefore and understand, that from 05:13 the going forth of the commandment 05:15 to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the" what? 07:03 Let's try one more time. 07:04 I'm going to take my time. 07:05 Give me 10 minutes on the back here. 07:08 Seven weeks, threescore. 07:10 Score is how much? 07:13 Twenty. 07:14 Three times 20 is what? 08:32 Take your Bibles and go to the book of Ezra. 08:36 Get you some Word. 08:37 I know it's a hard Word, but you'll understand it, 08:39 it's okay. 08:41 Ezra, Chapter 7. 08:43 Let us go to Ezra, Chapter 7. 08:47 Ezra is before the Book of Psalms. 08:58 If you have it let me hear you say Amen. 09:00 And we're going to Ezra 7:7. 09:07 This is all going to make sense. 09:09 The Word of God says: "And there went up some 09:13 of the children of Israel, and of the priests, 09:15 and the Levites, and the singers, 09:17 and the porters, and the Nethinims, unto 09:19 Jerusalem, in the seventh year of Artaxerxes the king." 09:23 What year of his reign? 09:25 Come on, what year of his reign? 09:27 So we've got to make sure we understand what we're reading. 09:29 The seventh year of his reign. 09:31 Currently, it is the fifth year of the reign 09:34 of President Obama. 09:35 Are we understanding what I'm saying? 09:37 So we're saying then the decree was in 09:39 the seventh year of the reign of Artaxerxes. 09:41 Look at verse 12: "Artaxerxes, king of kings, unto Ezra 09:46 the priest, a scribe of the law of the God 09:48 of heaven, perfect peace, and at such a time. 09:50 I make a decree, that all they of the people of Israel, 09:55 and of his priests and Levites, in my realm, 09:58 which are minded of their own freewill to go up to" where? 10:02 (Aud: Jerusalem) "Go with thee." Now, we discover that 10:07 in the seventh year of the reign of Artaxerxes 10:11 the decree to rebuild Jerusalem's walls was made. 10:15 In his seventh year of reign. 10:17 Now, if you study history and you go back 10:22 and you study biblical history, you will discover 10:25 that Artaxerxes' reign began in the year 10:28 464 B.C. 10:31 Write that down. 10:32 Four sixty four B.C. 10:35 That's when his reign began. 10:37 But the text says that the prophecy began 10:40 at the decree to rebuild Jerusalem's walls. 10:43 The decree happened seven years into his reign, 10:47 which means then, if he reign began in 464 B.C., 10:52 the decree to rebuild Jerusalem's walls took 10:55 place seven years later, which was the 457 B.C. 11:01 Not 464 and add seven, but 464 and take away seven. 11:07 Why, Pastor Byrd? 11:08 Because, remember in B.C. 11:10 you count down to zero. 11:12 In A.D. 11:13 you count up. 11:15 What do I mean? 11:16 We are living now in the year 2013 A.D. 11:19 A lot of people get confused with B.C. 11:23 and A.D. 11:24 A.D. does not stand for after death. 11:27 After Jesus' death. 11:28 A.D. is Latin for in the year of our Lord. 11:32 A.D. is Anno Domini. 11:34 Are you hearing what I'm saying? 11:36 In the seventh year of Artaxerxes reign, which was 11:40 457 B.C., that was when the decree to rebuild 11:44 Jerusalem's wall came. 11:45 Four hundred ninety years later the gospel message would 11:50 be taken, not just to the Jews, but to everybody. 11:54 But 483 years from 457 B.C., the Messiah would 11:59 have to come. 12:00 Now, we can discover from that text when the Messiah 12:06 would come. 12:08 If you take 457 B.C., if I had a chalkboard I'd write it 12:12 down, one of my mentors used to write this down, if you take 12:15 457 B.C. 12:17 and you count down 483 years. 12:22 Let's do easy math. 12:24 You've got the pencils out. 12:26 Take 483 and subtract it from 457, you should have 26. 12:45 Is that correct, everybody? 12:47 So then we're saying that in 26 A.D. 12:51 because 457, you're counting down 457, 456, 455, 450, 300, 12:59 200, 100, and then you're counting up, all you do is 13:03 subtract the 487 from the 457. 13:05 But you have to do is you have to add a one. 13:08 Why do you have to add a one? 13:10 Because you're counting down to zero, and you must count up 13:13 from the zero. 13:14 Because you're moving from B.C. to A.D. 13:17 Are you hearing what I'm saying? 13:19 If the prophecy has been correct, that means 13:23 the Messiah, Jesus Christ, would come in A.D. 27. 13:29 He would come in the fall of A.D. 27. 13:33 Now, time won't permit, but just stay with me 13:37 a little bit. 13:38 If you read your Bible in Luke, Chapter 3:1, you will 13:43 discover in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Jesus 13:48 Christ was baptized. 13:50 And Jesus Christ was baptized because in Luke, Chapter 3:21 13:54 and 22 it records the baptism of Jesus Christ. 13:58 It records the baptism of Jesus Christ where the Father, 14:02 the Son and the Holy Ghost were all participating 14:04 in this event. 14:06 Jesus the Son was being baptized, the Father, after he 14:10 was baptized said, This is my beloved Son in whom 14:15 I am well pleased. 14:16 And then the Holy Ghost descended upon Jesus 14:19 in the form of a dove. 14:20 The Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost 14:23 are all working to bring about our salvation. 14:29 Then that would mean in fall of A.D. 27 the Messiah 14:34 would come. 14:37 Well, sure enough, that's what happened. 14:39 Jesus was baptized, check your history out, in the fall 14:42 of 27 A.D. 14:46 Messiah in the Hebrew means, check it out, God's 14:50 anointed one. 14:53 In order for one to be anointed there must 14:56 be some oil. 15:06 Well, how was Jesus anointed at his baptism? 15:08 Because the Holy Spirit symbolic of the oil descended 15:14 upon him in the form of a dove. 15:17 You all don't hear me. 15:18 That's why the devil didn't want you to understand all 15:20 this, because when you understand it, it unmasks 15:23 and exposes him for who he really is. 15:26 So we discover that in seventy weeks, or 490 years, the gospel 15:31 message would now be taken, not just to the Jews, 15:35 but to the gentiles. 15:36 We discover that 483 years from 457 B.C. 15:40 the Messiah would begin his ministry. 15:43 Jesus' ministry began in A.D. 27 at his baptism. 15:50 Let's get some more. 15:53 Now, there's one week left, 15:59 483 years, 490 years, there's one week left. 16:08 Go to verse 26, Daniel 9:26. 16:14 "And after threescore and two weeks," now, notice, you say 16:20 we're after threescore and two weeks, but you've got to go 16:22 back and get the seven weeks, threescore and two weeks, 16:26 is one phrase together. 16:28 After threescore and two weeks, shall Messiah be what, 16:31 everybody? 16:32 (Aud: Be cut off) "But not for himself, and the people of the 16:35 prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the 16:37 sanctuary,; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, 16:39 and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. 16:42 And he shall confirm the covenant 16:44 with many for" how many weeks? 16:46 (Aud: One week) "And in the midst of the week he shall 16:51 cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, 16:53 and for the overspreading of abominations he shall 16:55 make it desolate, even until the consummation, 16:57 and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate." 17:00 Go back to verse 27: "And he shall confirm 17:02 the covenant with many for one week and in the" 17:06 what of the week? 17:07 (Aud: Midst) "He shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation 17:09 to" what? 17:10 Cease. 17:11 Oh, the Bible's getting good. 17:14 In the midst of that final week the oblation, 17:17 the sacrifice, would cease. 17:19 There will be no more need for sacrificing of lambs. 17:25 No more need for sacrificing of animals, because 17:28 in the midst of that final week the Messiah would be 17:32 cut off and the sacrifice and the oblation would cease. 17:37 Which means then, in the middle of that week 17:40 Jesus, the Messiah, would have to die. 17:44 Now if you look at this carefully. 17:46 There are how many days in a week? 17:48 (Aud: Seven) And a day for a year means seven days 17:50 is seven what? Years. 17:51 When you go midst of the week, you divide two into seven 17:56 and you get three and a half. 17:59 Which means that in that final week after three-and-a-half 18:03 years, Jesus would have to die. 18:05 Now, the prophecy says that in A.D. 27, fall, 18:10 Jesus was baptized. 18:12 The prophecy says three-and-a-half years later 18:15 the sacrifice and oblation would cease and Jesus 18:19 would have to die. 18:20 Let's do our math and count. 18:22 Remember, Jesus' ministry lasted only three 18:25 -and-a-half years. 18:28 A lot of people think Jesus' ministry, well it has to 18:31 be A.D. 30 and all that. 18:33 No, remember A.D. is Anno Domini, 18:35 in the year of our Lord. 18:36 Jesus was baptized in fall A.D. 27. 18:39 Three-and-a-half years later the sacrifice would have 18:41 to cease. 18:43 Let's count it up. 18:44 A.D. 27 to A.D. 28, fall. 18:48 Fall of A.D. 18:51 28 to fall A.D. 29. 18:55 Two years. Fall A.D. 18:58 29 to fall A.D. 19:00 30, that's three years. 19:03 We've got a half year left. 19:07 Which means there are four seasons in a year, 19:09 each constituting three months. 19:13 We have six months left. 19:15 We are now at fall A.D. 30. 19:19 Jesus would have to die six months later. 19:21 If we go three months from the fall, we go now 19:23 to the winter of A.D. 30. 19:27 December time. 19:28 If we go three more months, we're now going to the spring 19:31 of A.D. 31. 19:34 That means in the midst of that final week, Jesus 19:36 the Christ, the Messiah, God's anointed one, 19:39 would have to die. 19:40 It was in the spring of A.D. 31 that Jesus died. 19:47 How does that make sense, Pastor Byrd. 19:49 Isn't it interesting that just last weekend in the spring 19:54 that we acknowledged Jesus' death with Easter weekend, 20:00 because in the midst of that time of week, three-and-a-half 20:02 years later he would have to die. 20:04 The oblation, the sacrifice would cease. 20:07 Which means we wouldn't have to anymore kill lambs 20:09 and goats. 20:10 We wouldn't have to go and sacrifice them for blood 20:12 to be spilled because now behold the Lamb of God, 20:15 which taketh away the sins of the world. 20:18 Which means then, I don't have to go to another priest in a 20:21 room and confess my sins and tell that priest 20:27 all my business. 20:28 No more need for that. 20:29 There was never a need for that. 20:31 But no more need for goats and lambs and all that, 20:33 because I can go to Jesus, the Lamb of God, 20:35 because if we confess our sins he is faithful and just to 20:44 forgive us of our sins 20:47 and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 20:55 But there are three-and-a-half days left. 21:01 In the fall of A.D. 34, check your history, the first 21:09 Christian martyr would have to die in the stoning of Stephen. 21:16 The first Christian martyr would die meaning the gospel 21:19 now is not just for Jews, but the gospel is for gentiles 21:25 and the gospel is for everybody. 21:30 Jesus, it was prophesied when he would come, but it was 21:35 prophesied when he would come the first time. 21:40 But it's also been prophesied when he's coming 21:44 the second time. 21:46 Matthew 24 says, ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars, 21:54 earthquakes and pestilences in diverse places. 21:58 Men shall become lovers of their own selves. 22:01 The Bible says, well, when would he come? 22:03 We don't know when he's going to come, Matthew 24 says, 22:05 but he's coming as a thief in the night and when he comes 22:09 you've got to be ready. 22:12 And so when we think about those signs, we think about 22:15 how we're living today. 22:16 We've got war on every hand, crime on every hand, financial 22:21 problems on every hand. 22:23 God forbid, we've got same-sex marriage legislation 22:26 on the horizon. 22:28 But I'm here to tell somebody, hold on. 22:32 Help is on the way. 22:33 Let not your heart be troubled. 22:36 Ye believe in God, believe also in me. 22:39 In my Father's house, I said, in my Father's house 22:44 are many mansions. 22:45 If this were not so, I would have told you. 22:48 I'll go and prepare a place for you and if I go and prepare 22:52 a place for you I will come again and receive you 22:55 unto myself, that there when he says where I am 23:01 there ye may be also. 23:02 Hold on. 23:04 Help is on the way. 23:05 There shall come a day when there is no more crying, 23:08 no more dying, no more sickness, 23:12 no more pain, no more high blood pressure, no more cancer, 23:17 no more house note, no more car note. 23:20 I'm going to fly from my mansion to your mansion. 23:24 Hallelujah. 23:25 Home at last. 23:26 The redeemed are going to be home at last. 23:29 So, what can I do to be ready when Jesus comes? 23:34 Revelation 22:14, we'll end where we began. 23:37 "Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may 23:41 have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through 23:45 the gates into the city." 23:48 Let me close this way, meet me in the city. 23:53 I said, meet me in the city. 23:57 There are 12 gates to the city. 24:01 Three gates to the north, three gates to the south, 24:05 three gates to the east, three gates to the west. 24:10 Meet me in the city. 24:12 Walls of jasper, streets of gold. 24:16 Meet me in the city. 24:19 The lion is going to play with the lamb. 24:21 The Around God's throne there's going to be 24:25 persistent praise. 24:25 Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was and is 24:32 to come. 24:33 I don't know about you, but I will bless 24:36 the Lord at all times and his praise shall 24:40 continually be in my mouth. 24:46 Oh, let me tell you. 24:48 When I get to heaven I'm going to praise him. 24:50 I said, when I get to heaven I'm going to praise him. 24:52 Some of you all think praise and worship is too long. 24:54 Some of you think praise and worship is too loud. 24:57 Pastor Byrd preaches too loud. 24:59 He preaches too long. 25:01 Well, if you think I preach too loud and long, 25:06 I don't know where you're going, 25:08 because when we all get to heaven what a day 25:13 of rejoicing that shall be. 25:16 When we all see Jesus we're going to sing and shout 25:21 the victory. 25:22 I listen to folk talking about, if I had 10,000 tongues 25:28 I wouldn't have enough to praise him. 25:31 God says, why don't you use the one tongue 25:35 you've got right now. 25:37 Lord, you are the source of my strength. 25:41 You are the strength of my life. 25:43 I lift my hands in total praise unto you. 25:53 Christ returneth.
