06:16 Now, watching the games in person at the arena with all 06:24 the fans there in Philips Arena was fun. 06:28 The shots, the passes, the dunks, 06:31 when we did the waves. 06:33 In Atlanta they have what they call a kiss cam. 06:37 When we saw all of this, it was fun. 06:41 But the part that I didn't like was what took place 06:46 before the game. 06:48 And to be more specific, I didn't like the crowds 06:52 rushing to get in line to get in the arena. 06:55 People would push in line. 06:59 People would squabble in line. 07:03 People would crowd you in line, invade your personal space 07:10 in line. 07:11 People would step on your toes in line. 07:17 It was a pain to stand in line. 07:22 But what really made me mad was when somebody would try to 07:27 cut line. 07:30 I mean, after all, if my family and I had to stand in line, 07:37 then everybody had to stand in line. 07:42 So, one day we're standing in line 07:45 to get into the game. 07:48 We have to go through the turnstile and give 07:50 our tickets to the attendant in order to get 07:53 into the arena. 07:54 We're standing in line, minding our own business, 08:00 and then all of a sudden here comes Johnny Come Late, 08:05 trying to cut us in line. 08:09 Now, before I went off I had to look around to see if anybody 08:23 I knew saw me to make sure that nobody would say, 08:28 I saw Pastor Byrd in line and he was 08:31 going off on somebody. 08:33 He looked like he was getting ready to fight somebody. 08:37 You know what I'm talking about. 08:39 In this day and age you have to be careful, because people 08:42 have cell phones, iPhones, iPads and everything 08:46 and they will record everything you do, 08:51 put it on Facebook and put it on YouTube 08:54 and the Internet trying to make something 08:56 appear more than what it is. 08:59 That's why I'm careful how I pose with people 09:02 for pictures. 09:05 Brothers, when you hug the women, 09:08 you hug them like this. 09:09 You can't be all over them. 09:10 Trying to help somebody. 09:13 Brothers, when you hug another brother, it can't be all that 09:18 cheek-to-cheek stuff. 09:20 You've got to say, well, man, let me dap you up 09:23 and keep it moving. 09:24 Do I have a witness in this place? 14:58 There's a crowd at the seashore, multitudes have 15:01 thronged Jesus Christ. 15:03 They gathered to hear Jesus. 15:04 The Bible declares that much has happened 15:06 prior to Jesus running into Jairus. 15:09 Jesus has turned water into wine, 15:11 Jesus has healed Peter's mother-in-law, 15:13 Jesus has healed the paralytic that was lowered 15:15 through the roof, Jesus has healed the man 15:18 with the withered hand. 15:19 Jesus has healed the two blind men. 15:21 Jesus has stilled the storm on the Sea of Galilee. 15:25 Jesus has healed the demoniac of Gadara. 15:27 Much has happened. 15:29 But then here come Jairus. 15:32 Jairus was in the multitude with a bunch of folk, 15:35 but he did not allow the crowd to stop him 15:38 from getting what he needed. 15:41 or anybody stop you from getting your blessing. 15:49 There will come a time in your life when you have to 15:53 make up your mind that it doesn't make a difference 15:56 how many folk are around you, how many folk are looking 15:59 at you, but you have to say, I will not be intimidated 16:03 by the crowd. 16:04 I'm not worried about what people may say, 16:06 I'm not worried about what folk will do, 16:08 by any means necessary I'm getting to Jesus. 16:11 When you're in the crowd trying to get Jesus, 16:13 you're not in the crowd like everybody else. 16:16 You're not in the crowd to be a spectator. 16:19 You're not in the crowd to be an onlooker. 16:21 You don't come to church to be a spectator. 16:24 You're not in the crowd just to try to find out 16:26 who's here and who's not here. 16:29 That's why sometimes you have to tell folk, listen, 16:32 if you knew what I was here for you'd understand why I act 16:38 like I act. 16:39 You'd understand why I sing like I sing, why I shout 16:45 like I shout. 16:46 You'd understand that my praise is not programmed 16:49 because I'm trying to get in the very presence of God, 16:52 because in the presence of God there's fullness of joy. 16:55 I don't care who calls on Jesus, but my thing is, 16:59 Lord, pass me not, oh, gentle Savior, 17:01 hear my humble cry, while the others 17:04 thou are calling, Lord, do not pass me by. 17:10 But what do you do when you're trying to get to the Lord 17:15 and it's interrupted? 17:18 What do you do when you need a miracle from Jesus 17:23 and it's disrupted? 17:26 What do you do when you need healing for your body 17:28 and peace for your soul and it's broken up 17:30 by a distracting, disturbing force you 17:33 can't control? 17:35 What do you do when Jesus says, yes, I hear you and I'm 17:39 on my way to your house, your daughter is sick, 17:42 but it's your day, it's your turn. 17:44 Come on, Jesus. 17:46 The crowd is following you and Jesus to your house. 17:52 What do you do when it's your turn, your time, your season 17:54 and it's interrupted? 17:56 Ellen White says that as soon as Jairus approached Jesus, 18:00 Jesus set out at once to Jairus' house. 18:04 Set out at once. 18:06 Didn't meander all around, didn't wait, didn't pause, 18:09 didn't hesitate, but she says, immediately he began 18:12 to Jairus' house. 18:13 The trip wasn't long, but she said people just kept crowding 18:17 around him. 18:19 Jesus then follows Jairus to his house. 18:22 The Bible says there's a woman who heard Jesus would 18:25 be passing by. 18:26 The Bible says she had been sick for 12 long years. 18:29 She needed something from Jesus, too. 18:31 She presses through the crowd and says, if I could just touch 18:34 his clothes. 18:35 If I could just touch the hem of his garment 18:39 I'll be made whole. 18:42 But then, wait a minute, Jesus is on his way 18:47 to Jairus' house. 18:49 Jairus' daughter is sick. 18:52 It's Jairus' turn. 18:54 But what do you do when your turn is interrupted. 18:58 You're Jairus, you're walking with Jesus, Jesus is about 19:02 to give you what you need, but then Jesus stops and says, 19:07 somebody touched me. 19:10 Well, yes, Lord, somebody has touched you. 19:15 There's a bunch of folk out here in line, standing, 19:20 shoving, pushing, touching, but, Jesus, come on, 19:24 my daughter is sick. 19:27 You're the only one that can heal my daughter. 19:30 We're almost at our house. 19:33 I need a miracle and I need it today and all these other folk, 19:36 I know they might need help, but, Jesus, it's my turn. 19:41 I need my daughter to be healed today. 19:46 So, I ask you what you do when it's your turn, 19:49 but somebody else has to get theirs first. 19:53 Somebody else has to get their healing first. 19:55 Somebody else has to get their blessing first. 19:57 Somebody else has to get their degree first. 19:59 I've come to tell somebody today that maybe you need to 20:01 understand that even when it looks like somebody has to get 20:03 their miracle first it doesn't dilute the fact that your 20:06 miracle is on the way. 20:07 Maybe God is just trying to tell you, I'm trying to see 20:13 how you're going to act when I bless other people before 20:18 I bless you. 20:19 I'm trying to see if you're going to have an attitude 20:24 when somebody else gets the miracle, when somebody else 20:26 gets the promotion, when somebody else gets the job 20:28 first, when somebody else passes the test first, 20:32 when somebody else graduates first, 20:34 when somebody else gets married first, 20:36 when somebody else has the baby first, 20:39 when somebody else has the car or the house first, 20:41 when somebody else gets the healing first. 20:46 Here's the woman with the issue of blood, 20:51 she slows Jesus up and the Bible says 20:56 she gets her healing. 21:00 Jesus heals the woman and he says, daughter, thy faith 21:04 has made thee whole. 21:05 But then what about Jairus? 21:13 A messenger comes to Jairus and says, look, man, 21:20 don't worry about it. 21:22 Don't trouble the Master. 21:24 Your daughter is dead. 21:27 Now here's brother Jairus. 21:30 If it weren't for this woman we would have been on time. 21:38 If it weren't for this interruption we would have 21:41 gotten home on time. 21:42 I'm glad this woman got healed, but it weren't for 21:46 this distraction my daughter would be breathing right now. 21:53 I like how Ellen White puts it, she says in "Desire of Ages" 21:55 that Jairus caught the ear of Jesus. 22:00 Jesus responds, be not afraid, only believe. 22:08 In other words, whose report are you going to believe? 22:15 Don't you know who I am? 22:19 I am the Resurrection and the Life. 22:24 If I do show up late, I'm still early. 22:28 You're with the answer, so why are you focusing on 22:31 the problem? 22:32 It's not a miracle if I get there when you want me to, 22:36 it's a miracle when I show up late. 22:40 Lesson number three, he may not come 22:43 when you want him, but he's always right on time. 22:49 He's an on-time God. 22:51 Yes, he is. 22:53 Let me throw this in quickly. 22:54 You know the message that came with the bad news. 22:56 Let me throw this in quickly. 22:57 That's why you have to surround yourself 22:59 with positive people. 23:02 You see, negative people told him, don't worry, 23:04 she's dead. 23:05 Move on. 23:06 Don't trouble the Master. 23:07 But you have to be around positive people. 23:09 You don't need to be around folk who mean you no good. 23:11 You can do bad by yourself. 23:12 You have to be around positive people. 23:16 You have to be around winners. 23:18 Everybody say winners. 23:19 You have to be around conquerors. 23:22 And let me talk about winners for a minute. 23:25 There is a certain mentality associated with 23:28 being a winner. 23:29 People who are winners hang together. 23:32 Let me say that one more time. 23:33 People who are winners hang together. 23:39 Winners expect to win. 23:41 Winners don't expect to lose. 23:44 That's why certain sports teams, the Yankees, 23:46 for example, they always have winning seasons because they 23:50 have a culture of winning. 23:52 Some sports teams always have losing seasons. 23:56 But let me tell you this, that's not just in the secular 23:58 world, but that's in the spiritual world, too. 24:01 If you a spiritual winner you will gravitate to other people 24:03 who are spiritual winners, because there's a mentality 24:06 that this isn't about money or anything tangible, 24:08 but there's a mentality that goes along with winning. 24:11 That's why it's hard to defeat a champion. 24:14 That's why you're always told, never underestimate the heart 24:18 of a champion. 24:19 And once you get the mentality of a winner, you can listen 24:22 to a person talk a few minutes and it either 24:24 feeds you or it doesn't and sooner or later, 24:27 the things that don't feed you, you don't spend time 24:33 fooling with them, because it's counterproductive 24:35 to where you're trying to go. 24:37 You see, I'm a winner. 24:39 You're a winner. 24:40 We're more than conquerors. 24:41 I'm trying to help somebody up in here. 24:44 Understand that I'm trying to go somewhere. 24:47 I'm not just here just to be here. 24:50 I say it all the time, if you're going to come 24:52 to church, church ought to mean something. 24:54 I'm trying to get to God's great heaven. 24:57 I'm trying to get to God's great kingdom. 24:59 I don't fight for victory, I fight from victory, 25:03 because Satan has already been defeated. 25:07 And then the converse of that. 25:10 Losing and failing also promote a mindset. 25:14 You get around failing people and failing circumstances 25:17 and listen to the negative thoughts and you'll find 25:19 yourself unable to get back up again, because not only are 25:22 you down, but your environment is down. 25:24 And everybody that is talking to you is down. 25:26 And you develop a mentality that is built around 25:29 your condition. 25:30 That's why you've got to watch who you hang with. 25:33 Watch who your friends are. 25:35 You are the company you keep. 25:38 Be not afraid, Jesus said. 25:41 Only believe. 25:42 Where there is fear there is little faith. 25:45 Faith drives out fear. 25:48 Jairus had been strong in faith that he found no 25:51 difficulty in believing that Jesus can heal his daughter 25:54 but now he's called upon to exercise greater faith, 25:58 faith that the clutch of death itself could not break. 26:01 >: It's an age-old question, what happens after we die?
