come to hear him in the temple.

Pharisees bring into the
presence of everybody a woman

who's been doing the nasty.

Jesus has been teaching.

The woman has been cheating.

And these self-appointed
agents of righteousness are

out to stop them both.

They cry, Master, this woman
was caught, taken in the very

act of adultery.

We saw her for ourselves.

In an instant this woman is
yanked from private passion to

public spectacle.

Everybody sees her.

There's nowhere for her to
run, nowhere for her to hide.

For the rest of her life,

name but by what she does.

The Pharisees were more

they could catch
Jesus in condemnation.

would want to forgive.

So, if he forgave the woman,
they could charge him with

disobeying the law.

And then if he recommended
carrying out the penalty of

stoning, they could charge him
with usurping the authority of

Rome, because only the
government could legislate

corporal punishment.

So they look at him.

Moses said that such should
be stoned, but what sayeth thou?
