very people that church

But then Jesus can do whatever
he wants as long as it doesn't

clean, comfortable,

clannish culture.

It's okay for Jesus to spend
time with people like that as

long as we're not around,
as long as they stay on their

folk other people don't like.

take credit for who they've

The Pharisees and the scribes
are grumbling and saying to

one another, this
man welcomes sinners

and eats with them.

Because you see,
the Pharisees had strict

regulations about how they
would keep away from sinners.

They were not to entrust
money to them or have business

dealings with them.

They were not to
trust them with a secret.

They were not to give their
daughter away in marriage to

any of their sons.

They were not to invite them
as guests or be their guests.

one of their traditions,

openly call him out on it.

But when he was just
doing things they didn't like,

to him they grumbled among

themselves behind his back.

something, people like that are
