00:11 ♪ oh yes, he's worthy ♪ ♪ worthy of all... ♪ 00:18 ♪ all the praise ♪ ♪ (Music) ♪ 00:21 Pastor Byrd: Because of sin we have death. 00:26 If there were no sin, there would be no death. 00:31 In heaven there will be no sin. 00:33 And so, because there will be no sin in heaven, 00:36 there will be no death. 00:37 There will be no death among human life or animal life, 00:41 which means, ain't going to be no McDonald's 00:43 in heaven. 00:44 Come on, say Amen. 00:46 Now remember, before there was sin God said, 00:52 in Genesis 1, that he gave every green herb 00:56 yielding seed that was supposed to be for meat. 01:00 You following what I'm saying, everybody? 01:02 So, when you get to heaven, 01:04 because there is no sin and there is no death, 01:06 what you are accustomed to eating down here is not going to 01:08 be your diet in heaven. 01:09 Are you hearing what I'm saying? 01:11 And so, since we're trying to get ready 01:13 for heaven down here, sometime we've got to begin 01:17 practicing on earth what we're going to being practicing in 01:24 heaven. 01:25 Are you hearing what I'm saying, everybody? 01:29 Well, let's get the list. 01:32 Meat, lamb, 01:34 clean. 01:35 Hehehehe. 01:36 Beef, mutton, 01:38 veal, goat. 01:40 Somebody from the islands says I can still eat curry goat, 01:42 praise God. 01:43 (laughter) Venison, chicken, 01:45 turkey. 01:46 Somebody says Thanksgiving's still good. 01:49 Fish, perch, 01:51 snapper, buffalo carp, 01:53 sun perch, salmon, 01:56 sardines, tuna, 01:58 flounder, cod. 02:00 Shortenings, your vegetable shortening, 02:02 your fruit drink, your milk, 02:04 your fruit juices, your soft drinks that don't have 02:06 that caffeine. 02:07 You know, you leave all that Coke and 02:09 Pepsi alone. 02:10 It's not good for you. 02:11 Amen, somebody. 02:13 You need to drink Sprite. 02:14 I can't get no Amens in this place. 02:16 (Aud: Amen.) All right. 02:17 Foods that we've go to avoid. 02:18 Come on, say Amen. 02:20 Pig, hog, 02:22 swine. 02:23 We named them. 02:25 Bacon and chitlins, Spam, 02:29 all that stuff. 02:30 Coon, possum, 02:32 squirrel, turtle. 02:36 You ride a horse, you don't eat a horse. 02:41 Rabbit, snake. 02:45 I said snake, yes. 02:47 Somebody said snake tastes like chicken. 02:49 I don't know and I ain't trying to find out. 02:51 Come on, say Amen. 02:53 Frog, frog legs. 02:55 We'll get to the fish. 02:58 Catfish. 03:01 Say eel. 03:03 Say it like you mean it. 03:04 Say eel. 03:05 Say lobster. 03:07 Crab. 03:07 Oyster. 03:10 On the count of three, say it, 03:12 one, two three. 03:13 Say it like you mean it. 03:14 One, two, 03:15 three. 03:17 (Aud: Shrimp.) (talking) Crayfish, 03:27 crawfish, shark, 03:29 whale. 03:31 Come on, say Amen. 03:35 Hog lard or any of these grease made with hog fat, 03:38 leave it alone. 03:39 The beer, the whiskey, 03:41 the wines, and you leave that caffeine 03:43 alone. 03:44 I know you don't like to hear that, 03:46 but I'm going to preach it anyhow. 03:49 Those who persist in eating all this stuff will burn when Jesus 03:52 comes. 03:53 Pastor, how do you know? 03:55 Go to Isaiah 66:15. 03:56 Know what you believe, know why you believe it, 04:04 and know where it's found. 04:08 Isaiah 66:15, the Word of God says to us 04:12 tonight: "For, behold, 04:14 the Lord will come with fire, and with his chariots like a 04:17 whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, 04:20 and his rebuke with flames of fire. 04:22 For by fire and by his sword will the Lord plead with all 04:26 flesh: and the slain of the Lord shall be" what, 04:29 everybody? 04:30 (Aud: Many.) "They that sanctify themselves, 04:33 and purify themselves in the gardens behind one tree in the 04:37 midst, eating swine's flesh, 04:41 and the abomination, and the mouse shall be consumed 04:51 together, saith the Lord." Repeat after 04:57 me. 04:58 This is my body. 05:01 God's holy temple. 05:03 I've been bought with a price, and I glorify him. 05:07 Now, you're sitting out there saying, 05:10 oh, man, 05:11 this is tough. 05:12 But in your heart of hearts you know what we're preaching in the 05:13 Word of God. 05:14 You know it's the truth. 05:14 And you know, somebody, 05:16 you've been out there saying for a long time, 05:17 I need to get off cigarettes. 05:18 Somebody, you've been saying for a while, 05:19 I need to get off that liquor. 05:20 I need to get off that beer. 05:21 I need to leave that stuff behind. 05:24 I need to leave pork and pig alone. 05:25 Somebody, you're been standing up here, 05:26 God brought you to this revival to remind you. 05:28 You've got to let it go. 05:28 And that you can do all things through Christ Jesus, 05:33 which strengtheneth me. 05:35 Come on, say Amen. 05:36 All right. 05:36 So save your paper and put it on your refrigerator. 05:38 Come on, say Amen. 05:39 Now, you want some more? 05:42 (Aud: Yes) All right, let's get some more. 05:44 What you put in your body, and this is a hot potato, 05:55 but I'm gonna preach it, what you put in your body. 06:01 Now let's go to what you put on your body. 06:04 Getting quiet in here now. 06:09 Oh, Pastor Byrd's going there, 06:14 yes. 06:16 Look at Pastor Byrd. 06:17 Got a beautiful wife. 06:24 Who said Amen too loud? 06:25 I'm trying to figure out who's trying to check out my wife. 06:31 Now, you'll notice, 06:33 and this is not to look at anybody, 06:35 this is interactive, not to look at anybody, 06:37 because we don't do that. 06:38 We recognize here the ground is level at the cross. 06:42 No big I's, no little you's. 06:44 We're not here to point at people and look at people. 06:46 And no need of people getting mad and upset what I'm going to 06:48 say. 06:51 You'll notice about Pastor Byrd, some of you've come in and you 06:53 look at me, and say, 06:55 is he really married? 06:56 Yes, I am really married. 06:58 That's my wife, we have two beautiful children. 07:04 (Aud: Amen.) Amen, Amen. 07:06 You say, but Pastor, 07:08 I don't see any rings on you. 07:09 I don't see any jewelry on you. 07:10 I don't see any earrings on you. 07:11 I don't see any necklaces on you. 07:13 Come on, say Amen. 07:15 You've been looking at me for two weeks. 07:17 You don't see it. 07:18 Let me tell you why Pastor Byrd 07:25 refrains from that. 07:31 I'm God's temple. 07:34 When people look at me on the outside I want them to know that 07:42 something's going on on the inside. 07:44 The fact that I'm a child of God, 07:49 this is Pastor Byrd now, the fact that I'm a child of 07:52 God, if you see me walking down 07:54 University, if you see me walking down the 07:56 Parkway, not just when I'm standing up 07:58 here preaching, but when you see me out there, 08:00 you should know I'm a child of God because the greatest sermon 08:03 ever preached is not the one from this pulpit. 08:07 But the greatest sermon ever preached is the one that's lived 08:10 when I walk up and down the street each and every day. 08:13 And so when you see me, because I'm a child of God and 08:19 I'm not drawing attention to myself, 08:23 there is a difference in my modesty and my adornment because 08:26 I'm a child of God. 08:27 Because I just believe what Jesus said, 08:29 let your light so shine before men that they may see your good 08:34 works and glorify your Father which is in heaven. 08:37 So for Pastor Byrd, I'm not here to glorify myself 08:42 with costly array and with costly jewels, 08:45 because my body is God's temple. 08:50 The chosen generation, a royal priesthood, 08:55 that God has called out of darkness to his 08:57 marvelous light-now, Done a lot of study on this. 08:59 Lot of opinion out there about this. 09:01 A lot of people were convicted, Pastor Byrd, 09:03 because everything I preach and teach, 09:04 I can't preach and teach based on tradition, 09:06 because if I preach and teach everything based on tradition 09:11 then I am guilty of some of the very same things that some 09:14 others are struggling with, doing things out of tradition. 09:17 So I have to study the Word of God and say, Lord, 09:22 show me from your Scripture the sabbath. 09:25 Because God, just because Mama did it, 09:28 Grandmama did it, Great Grandma, 09:30 my Great Grandmama did it, that doesn't mean it's 09:32 necessarily right. 09:33 I've got to study and know it for myself. 09:38 So I have to take the Bible and learn the Sabbath. 09:41 Some of you, you looked at me, 09:43 you say, you really know 09:45 that Sabbath thing. 09:46 You don't need any notes. 09:47 Because I had to study it for myself. 09:49 You can't preach it with passion if you haven't studied it for 09:51 yourself. 09:52 And so what convicted me on this, 09:56 what I put on my body? 10:00 Went to the Book of Revelation and I began to study Revelation, 10:07 Chapter 12. 10:11 And I began to look at Revelation, 10:15 Chapter 12, and I began to study Bible 10:17 prophecy and I recognized that a woman in Bible prophecy 10:22 represents a church. 10:28 And there were characteristics in Revelation 12 about this 10:31 woman that represent God's true church. 10:37 And I kept reading Revelation and then I went to Revelation, 10:40 Chapter 17, and there was another woman. 10:45 And a woman, again, 10:47 in Bible prophecy represents a church. 10:50 And so I began to look at this woman and the different things 10:53 that described this woman, a costly array, 10:55 jewels, decked out in all this kind of 10:57 stuff, and I began to think and the 10:59 Holy Spirit began to impress upon me and say, 11:01 listen, if you're trying to depict the 11:03 woman of Revelation 12 and not the woman of Revelation 17, 11:09 should not your outward and your inward symbolize and depict the 11:14 Revelation 12 woman, because that represents God's 11:21 true church. 11:23 And I became convicted on that. 11:25 I became convicted. 11:33 Lord, I've got to be willing in 11:39 whatever I do that I'm willing to give up any and everything 11:43 for your cause. 11:52 This is my body, 11:55 God's holy temple. 11:58 I've been bought with a price, 12:03 and I glorify him. 12:07 In what I put in my body, what I put on my body, 12:18 and then what you let other people do to your body. 12:34 Being a Christian and a follower of Christ is more than just what 12:39 day you go to church on. 12:45 It's the lifestyle that you live. 12:49 You all ain't going to get this preaching from everywhere 12:55 anymore. 12:56 Because he just stepped on toes. 12:57 It's not popular and people don't like all this. 12:59 But I'm going to call it and tell it like it is. 13:03 And when you fall in love with the Lord Jesus, 13:06 when you fall--I'm talking about fall in love with Jesus, 13:10 not in love with yourself, but in love with--Lord, 13:16 whatever you want me to do, wherever you want me to go, 13:18 however you want me to be, it's my desire to be just as you 13:21 would have me to be. 13:23 What I put in my body, what I put on my body and what I 13:25 let people do to my body. 13:28 The Bible says in Exodus 20:14, Thou shalt not commit adultery. 13:33 Now, I don't care what faith group 13:37 you were brought up in, if you're Catholic, 13:40 if you're Baptist, if you're Lutheran, 13:42 Methodist, Presbyterian, 13:44 non-denominational, Seventh-day Adventist, 13:46 years ago, if you lived with somebody and 13:49 you weren't married, it was wrong. 13:57 Co-habitation, adultery, 14:00 shacking, fornication, 14:02 whatever you want to call it, it has gotten out of control 14:09 among the people of God. 14:10 Oh, you all don't like that. 14:14 I'm sorry. 14:18 It's gotten out of control. 14:20 God is not pleased. 14:23 Too many people are driving cars before they buy cars. 14:31 You all hear what I'm saying. 14:36 Now that's the best and the most kosher way I can say it, 14:38 but it's the way you understand it. 14:40 Are you hearing what I'm saying? 14:44 All this what you let people do to your body, stop it. 14:48 All this what you do to your own body, 14:51 stop it. 14:52 (Aud: Amen.) Your body is God's temple. 14:57 Walk like a king, talk like a king, 15:02 act like a king, walk like a queen, 15:07 act like a queen, talk like a queen, 15:10 and don't let anybody treat you other than a king or queen. 15:14 Are you hearing what I'm saying? 15:15 (applause) Somebody, you're going to leave here 15:22 tonight, you're going to get that call on 15:26 the cell phone. 15:27 Now, you're going to tell them, 15:29 in the name of Jesus I don't do that no more. 15:34 (applause) I know that was a double negative. 15:40 I know I'm in an academic environment. 15:42 I had to say it for you to understand. 15:44 I don't do that no mo'. 15:46 I don't go there anymore. 15:48 I don't behave like that anymore. 15:51 This is my body, God's holy temple. 15:56 I've been bought with a price, and I glorify him. 16:01 I glorify him in what I put in my body, 16:05 I glorify him in what I put on my body, 16:09 and I glorify him with what I let happen to my body, 16:12 whether therefore ye eat or drink or whatsoever ye do, 16:19 do all to the glory of God. 16:22 God is coming back for a people without spot or wrinkle. 16:27 God is coming back for people who call sin by its right name. 16:35 Though the heavens fall yet will I trust in him. 16:42 So this is my body. 16:46 God's holy temple. 16:47 I've been bought with a price, and I glorify him. 16:55 For those who are visiting, I went to school right here on 17:01 this campus. 17:02 The Lord has allowed me to come back to serve in this part of 17:11 God's vineyard. 17:12 When I was here there was a preacher 17:17 who used to sing a song that reminds me of what we're 17:24 dealing with tonight. 17:25 He still sings this song. 17:31 Some want a crown, 17:36 but they don't want to bear a cross. 17:41 But it takes everything to serve. Lord, it 17:48 takes your hand, your head, 17:55 your feet, lest you fall. 18:01 It takes full surrender to serve the Lord. 18:09 And let me give you some good news tonight. 18:32 Serving the Lord will pay off after awhile. 18:39 Serving the Lord is going to pay off after awhile. 18:43 Sometimes when we serve God and we are in this Christian walk 18:47 and in this Christian journey it seems tough. 18:51 But I'm a witness, serving the Lord is going 18:59 to pay off. 19:01 You'll get talked about, you'll get criticized, 19:05 people will make up all manner of evil against you. 19:09 But serving the Lord will pay off after awhile. 19:18 Because all Pastor Byrd wants, when Jesus comes breaking 19:27 through the clouds, at the end of the day, 19:32 ain't about this position, that position, 19:34 where you're going. 19:35 At the end of the day for Carlton Byrd, 19:39 because I understand the older folk better now, 19:43 because when you live life and you go through some experiences, 19:45 this stuff don't mean nothing. 19:52 But all I want my Jesus to say, Carlton Byrd, 19:57 well done. 20:00 Thou has been faithful over a few things, 20:06 I will make thee ruler over many things. 20:09 Let me close with this part before I go to 20:10 the screen. 20:12 Jesus died. 20:18 This is gospel of simplicity. 20:20 He died, all he wants us to do is live. 20:22 That's it. 20:23 He died, all he wants us to do is to live 20:26 for him. 20:27 He went to Calvary, hung on Calvary, 20:32 died on Calvary, laid resting in the grave, 20:37 got up on the third appointed day and all he asks of us is to 20:41 live for him. 20:42 When we get to heaven because we 20:50 have lived for him, we'll be able to say, 20:55 it was cheap enough. 20:57 (Aud: Hallelujah.) That it was worth it all. 21:03 When we see Jesus and you and me, 21:09 we are changed in a moment. 21:11 In the twinkling of any eye. 21:14 When this mortal puts on immortality, 21:17 when this corruptible puts on incorruptibility, 21:19 when no longer do I think the same, 21:22 no longer I walk the same, no longer I look the same, 21:24 it will be worth it all. 21:31 How dare you live life how you want to live it and think, 21:38 well the Lord knows my heart. 21:40 If you're going to show up at the pearly gates, 21:44 let me say something I've learned in marriage. 21:46 My wife and I, this year we'll be married 15 21:50 years. 21:51 Go on and clap. 21:52 That's good, we married 15 years. 21:54 One thing I have learned in marriage, 21:59 I can love my wife how I think she ought to be loved, 22:07 but if I don't love my wife in the way she wants to be loved, 22:15 then we've got a problem. 22:16 I can in my mind think I'm doing this right, 22:19 I'm doing that right, I'm showing my love. 22:21 But if I don't love Danielle the way she wants to be loved, 22:25 all is for naught. 22:26 She can say, yeah, 22:29 you're trying but you're not loving me the way I want to be 22:32 loved. 22:33 I've learned that in 15 years. 22:35 Love her the way she wants. 22:37 Not the way I want to be loved, not the way I think she wants me 22:40 to love her, but the way she wants me to love 22:43 her. 22:44 And so she tells me, this is how I want you to love 22:47 me. 22:48 Through word, through action. 22:50 I've learned. 22:51 I know how my wife likes to be loved. 22:54 I know how she wants to be loved. 22:56 The same is true with God. 22:58 You can't love God the way you want to love God. 23:02 You've got to love God the way God wants to be loved. 23:11 Well, God, 23:13 I did this, God I did that. 23:15 And God say, okay, 23:17 I hear all that, but that's not what I said. 23:19 You're not loving me the way I want you to love me. 23:23 He said, if you love me keep my 23:33 commandments. 23:41 I love the Lord. 23:44 Love me some Jesus. 23:45 And I won't take that back, because he's been so good to me. 23:51 I'm even to the point in my life, 23:53 you know, he says, 23:53 keep the Sabbath. 23:54 Lord, I'm keeping the Sabbath. 23:55 Stay off that pork stuff. 23:56 That pork. 23:56 Don't drink, don't drink. 23:58 Lord, I'm going to love you the way 23:59 you told me to love you. 24:00 And guess what, you all? 24:02 If loving the Lord is wrong, then I don't want to be right. 24:04 Sanctify them through thy truth. 24:09 Thy Word is truth. 24:14 What? 24:14 Know ye not that your body's the temple of the Holy Ghost which 24:16 is in you. 24:17 Which ye have of God and ye are not your own. 24:19 For ye are bought with the what, everybody? 24:21 (Aud: Price.) Therefore, glorify God in your body and in 24:23 your spirit which are God's. 24:24 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God and that the 24:28 Spirit of God dwelleth where, everybody? 24:31 (Aud: In you.) If any man devour the temple of God, 24:33 him shall God destroy for the temple of God is what, 24:36 everybody? 24:37 Holy. 24:38 Which temple ye are. 24:39 Thou shalt not what? 24:40 Kill. 24:41 We always want to think that that command is just for the 24:43 murder of somebody, but some of us are murdering 24:46 ourselves. 24:47 How? 24:48 It's what we put in our body. 24:49 Wine is the what, everybody? 24:51 (Aud: Mocker.) Strong drink is raging and whosoever is deceived 24:54 thereby is not wise. 24:55 Who has woes, who has sorrows? 24:57 Who has contention, who has babbling? 24:59 Who has wounds without cause? 25:01 Who has redness and red eyes? 25:03 They that tarry long at the wine, 25:07 they that go to seek mixed wine, look not thou upon the wine when 25:11 it's red, when it giveth its color in the 25:13 cup, when it moveth itself aright. 25:15 At the last it biteth like the what, 25:19 everybody? 25:20 (Aud: Serpent.) And its sting is like a what? 25:22 (Aud: Adder.) Though he divide the hoof and be cloven-footed, 25:24 yet he cheweth not the cud, he is what unto you? 25:28 (Aud: Unclean.) These shall ye eat of all that are in the 25:31 waters, whatsoever have fins and scales 25:33 in the seas and the rivers, them shall ye eat, 25:35 and all that have not fins and scales in the seas and in the 25:38 rivers, of all that move in the waters 25:40 and of any living thing which is in the waters, 25:42 they shall be an abomination unto you. 25:44 They shall be even an abomination unto you. 25:46 Ye shall not eat of their flesh, but ye shall have their 25:49 carcasses in abomination. 25:50 Whatsoever have no fins nor scales in the waters, 25:52 that shall be an abomination unto you. 25:56 Wherefore, come out from among them. 25:58 Be yet separate sayeth the Lord. 26:00 Touch not the unclean thing and I will receive you, 26:04 whether therefore ye, what everybody? 26:06 Eat. 26:07 Or what else? 26:08 Drink. 26:09 Or whatever ye do, do all to the glory of whom? 26:11 (Aud: God.) But as in the days of Noah so shall also the coming 26:15 of the Son of Man be. 26:17 For as in the days that were before the flood they were 26:19 eating and what? 26:20 (Aud: Drinking.)
