00:22 Pastor Byrd: When I come into God's house
00:24 on the seventh-day Sabbath, I'm looking my best.
00:27 I'm smelling my best.
00:29 I'm acting my best, because I'm worshiping the King
00:31 of Kings and the Lord of Lords.
00:33 If I had a date with President Barack Obama,
00:36 I would be together head to toe.
00:39 But when I come into his presence, I humble myself,
00:44 I lift holy hands and I begin to worship him for all
00:48 he's done for me, redeemed and set me free,
00:53 just because, just because he's my God.
00:57 Do I have a witness in this place?
01:01 What will happen when you get to heaven?
01:06 Isaiah 66: 28: "For as the new heavens and the
01:14 new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me,
01:16 saith the Lord, so shall your seed and your name remain.
01:21 And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon
01:26 to another, and from one Sabbath to another,
01:31 shall all flesh," how much flesh?
01:33 (Aud: All.) "Come to worship before me, saith the Lord."
01:41 Seven days in a week.
01:44 Six days God created this earth.
01:47 On the seventh day God rested, God blessed it,
01:50 God sanctified it.
01:52 The ten commandments, in commandment number four,
01:56 he said remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy.
01:58 God said the Sabbath was to be a sign
02:01 between he and his people forever.
02:03 The Bible goes on and says the Sabbath is
02:05 a holy convocation, a holy coming together.
02:08 The Bible goes on and says from sunset to sunset,
02:12 from evening until evening shall you celebrate
02:15 my Sabbath.
02:16 The Bible says that I'm not supposed to do my own thing,
02:19 that I'm not supposed to seek my own pleasure,
02:22 the I'm not supposed to seek my own words.
02:24 The Bible goes on to say that when we get to heaven,
02:28 the Bible says all flesh shall come together on
02:31 God's Sabbath and they shall worship God
02:34 on God's Sabbath.
02:40 Pastor Byrd, that's clear.
02:43 Even a child can understand that.
02:49 So did God change the Sabbath,
02:55 because that's so clear, Pastor, did God
02:57 change the Sabbath and his law?
03:03 Go to Psalm 89, verse 34: "My covenant will I not break,
03:16 nor alter the thing that has gone out of my lips."
03:21 God also says in Malachi 3:6, the Lord says:
03:29 "For I am the Lord, I change not." Well,
03:35 Pastor Byrd, if God the Father didn't change the Sabbath,
03:39 Jesus must have changed the Sabbath, because we have
03:44 all this confusion about the Sabbath.
03:47 Did Jesus change the Sabbath?
03:50 Well, let me answer that from the New Testament,
03:52 because there are some of you sitting up saying,
03:55 he gave us all that Old.
03:56 Well, in the spirit of equal opportunity, let me give you
03:59 some New. Matthew 5:17: "Speak not that I am come
04:06 to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am
04:09 not come to destroy but to" what, everybody?
04:11 (Aud: Fulfil.) "For verily I say to you, Till heaven
04:15 and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise
04:17 pass from the law, till all be" what, everybody?
04:20 Fulfilled.
04:21 "Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least
04:24 commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be
04:27 called the least in the kingdom of heaven:
04:30 but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall
04:32 be called great in the kingdom of heaven." Jesus said,
04:38 I didn't come to change anything.
04:41 I didn't come to destroy the law.
04:43 I didn't come to destroy the prophets.
04:45 I came to fulfill it.
04:48 And whosoever shall teach these things shall be great
04:52 in God's kingdom.
04:55 Whosoever shall not teach these things shall be least
05:00 in God's kingdom.
05:02 Pastor Byrd is not here for a popularity contest.
05:03 Pastor Byrd is not here to get some more friends,
05:07 I have enough.
05:09 Pastor Byrd is here to preach and teach the
05:11 unadulterated Word of God, because there's a famine
05:16 in the land and it's not for bread and water,
05:19 and if we're going to worship God, if we're going to sing,
05:21 if we're going to sweat, let's not just worship him
05:25 in spirit, but let's worship him in truth and worship
05:27 him the way he said we ought to worship him.
05:36 I didn't come to destroy, he said, I came to fulfill.
05:42 You asked me to give you an answer of that fulfillment.
05:46 I'm glad you asked.
05:48 Go to Luke 4:16: "And he came to Nazareth, where he
06:01 had been brought up: and as his custom was, he went
06:07 into the synagogue," that's the church,
06:09 "on the" what day, everybody?
06:10 (Aud: Sabbath.) "And stood up for to read.
06:15 And there was delivered unto him the book
06:17 of the prophet Esaias.
06:18 And when he had opened the book, he found the place
06:21 where it was written, The spirit of the Lord
06:23 is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach
06:25 the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal
06:28 the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the
06:29 captives, and recovering of sight to the blind,
06:31 to set at liberty them that are bruised,
06:32 to preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
06:34 And he closed the book, and he gave it again
06:39 to the minister, and sat down.
06:41 And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue
06:44 were fastened on him."
06:46 On the seventh-day Sabbath Jesus went in the church.
06:49 That's why Leviticus 23:3 says that it's
06:51 a holy convocation.
06:52 Jesus went into the synagogue, the church,
06:55 on the Sabbath day, and in this instance Jesus
06:57 was the guest preacher.
07:00 And he got up and he preached from the Word of God.
07:03 The Bible says that all the eyes of the people
07:05 in the church were fastened on him, and when he got through
07:08 preaching, he sat down and he turned the service
07:11 back over to the home pastor.
07:13 You all don't hear what I'm saying.
07:15 It was Jesus' custom on the seventh-day Sabbath
07:17 to go to church.
07:19 Why?
07:20 Because God rested on the seventh day, God blessed
07:24 the seventh day and God sanctified the seventh day.
07:31 Well, Pastor Byrd, God the Father didn't change
07:35 the Sabbath.
07:37 Jesus Christ the Son didn't change the Sabbath.
07:40 Well, the apostles must have changed the Sabbath.
07:46 Take your Bibles and go with me to the Book of Acts.
07:50 Know what you believe, know why you believe it,
07:52 and know where it's found.
07:57 Acts 13:42, and the Word of God says: "And when the Jews
08:08 were gone out of the synagogue," out of the church,
08:12 "the Gentiles," the what, everybody?
08:14 (Aud: Gentiles.) "Besought that these words might be
08:16 preached to them the next Sabbath.
08:18 Now when the congregation was broken up, many
08:20 of the Jews and religious proselytes followed Paul
08:21 and Barnabas: who, speaking to them, persuaded them
08:24 to continue in the grace of God.
08:26 And the next Sabbath day came almost the whole city
08:31 together to hear the word of God." Now, I'm going to
08:36 preach this and preach this and preach this until the
08:39 whole city of Huntsville comes on God's Sabbath
08:44 to hear the Word of God.
08:47 Surely if Noah can preach 120 years, surely I can
08:51 stand up here and preach the Word of God until the
08:54 whole city comes together to hear the Word of God.
08:58 But what I love about this text is three things.
09:00 Number one, Acts comes after Jesus' death.
09:04 And if they kept the Sabbath in Acts, that means
09:09 they kept the Sabbath after Jesus died,
09:11 rose and got up.
09:13 So the Sabbath was not done away with at the cross.
09:20 Number two from this text, the Bible says that
09:23 the Sabbath, the Word was preached on the Sabbath
09:26 to the Jews, but the Gentiles besought that it might be
09:30 preached to them as well, which means the Sabbath
09:33 is not a Jewish thing, but the Sabbath is a Christian
09:39 thing and because I'm a follower of Jesus Christ,
09:41 I keep his Sabbath.
09:44 Number three, this text teaches me that even though
09:47 we're under grace, we still have to keep God's Sabbath.
09:57 Now all that I am or ever will be is by the grace
09:59 of God, but even under grace I've got to keep what God
10:02 says, because I love me some Jesus.
10:08 The Word of God says that Paul and Barnabas persuaded
10:11 the Jews and the Gentiles and the whole city to continue
10:15 in the grace of God.
10:18 So Jesus didn't change the Sabbath, the Father didn't
10:20 change the Sabbath, the apostles or disciples
10:25 didn't change the Sabbath, and the Sabbath was kept
10:26 after Jesus' death.
10:27 The Sabbath was not just for the Jews and the Sabbath
10:29 was kept even under grace.
10:30 Go to Hebrews, Chapter 4, get some more Word.
10:43 You don't get this everywhere.
10:45 I don't even charge you.
10:47 I ask for a free-will offering.
10:49 Come on, say Amen.
10:52 Hebrews 4:4, the Word of God says: "For he spake in
11:00 a certain place of the seventh day on this wise,
11:05 and God did rest the seventh day from all his works.
11:07 And in this place again, If they shall enter
11:09 into my rest.
11:10 Seeing therefore it remaineth that some
11:12 must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached
11:14 entered not in because of unbelief.
11:17 Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying
11:19 in David, Today, after so long a time; as it is said,
11:21 Today if ye will hear his voice, harden not your
11:24 hearts." Verse 8 is the clincher for me on why I
11:27 know the Sabbath is right.
11:28 "For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he
11:30 not afterward have spoken of another day.
11:36 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God."
11:39 If Jesus, if the Father had changed the Sabbath don't
11:43 you think they would have told us?
11:47 God is a God that dots every "i" and crosses every
11:51 "t." If God changed his law, if God changed his
11:55 Sabbath, don't you think God would have told us?
12:01 The Sabbath was kept after Jesus' death,
12:03 after his ascension.
12:06 It was not nailed or done away with at the cross.
12:09 Let's expand our minds.
12:11 Think about it, friends of mine.
12:12 In Genesis 1, God created this earth.
12:17 In Genesis 2, God instituted the Sabbath.
12:21 In Genesis 3, we have the fall of man.
12:25 Adam and Eve ate of the fruit.
12:27 Genesis 3 comes after Genesis 2.
12:39 Before the fall of man, the Sabbath was already
12:41 instituted in the Garden of Eden.
12:43 The only reason Jesus went to the cross is because
12:44 Adam and Eve sinned and so as sin entered one man,
12:46 sin entered all men.
12:47 If Adam and Eve had not sinned, there would have
12:49 been no need for Jesus to go to the cross.
12:51 But the fact is the Sabbath was in place before they
12:54 even sinned, before Jesus even went to the cross.
13:08 So for an individual law to be done away with the cross
13:10 --it has nothing to do with the cross.
13:12 The Sabbath was already in place before sin,
13:18 which was before the cross.
13:22 And then when we get to the kingdom all flesh will come
13:25 together and worship the Lord on God's Sabbath.
13:34 All right.
13:36 Seven days in a week.
13:39 Six days God created this earth.
13:42 On the seventh day God rested, blessed it
13:44 and sanctified it.
13:46 Very clear that the Bible says remember the Sabbath
13:48 day to keep it holy.
13:49 It's very clear that the Sabbath
13:51 is a holy convocation.
13:52 That it begins sunset, ends sunset, even unto even.
13:55 It's very clear it's a holy convocation,
13:58 a holy coming together.
13:59 It's very clear we're not supposed to honor ourselves
14:01 but to honor God, not doing our own pleasure, not speaking
14:03 our own words, not doing our own ways, but in essence,
14:06 we have a date with God.
14:07 That when the Lord comes back and we go to heaven,
14:09 all flesh will come together and we shall worship
14:12 God on God's Sabbath.
14:13 It's very clear in the Old Testament
14:15 that God says, I didn't change the Sabbath
14:17 therefore I am the Lord, I change not.
14:19 It's very clear, Jesus said, think not that I've
14:22 come to destroy the law and the prophets,
14:23 but I came to fulfill it.
14:24 He fulfilled it because in Luke 4:16-20 he went into
14:26 the synagogue, the church, on the Sabbath day to read.
14:29 It's very clear that after Jesus' death the apostles
14:32 kept the Sabbath.
14:35 It's very clear the Sabbath was not for Jews, but the
14:37 Sabbath was for Jews, Gentiles and everybody.
14:40 It's very clear that we should observe the Sabbath
14:42 even under grace.
14:44 And it's very clear that if Jesus had changed the day
14:46 he would have told us.
14:54 So, Pastor, how do we know which day is the Sabbath?
15:10 Now before I answer that from the Word of God,
15:15 let me check the biblical answer with Carlton Byrd first.
15:21 How do we know which day is the Sabbath.
15:24 When an individual asks that, somebody wants
15:28 the Bible to say, remember Saturday to keep it holy.
15:37 That's what someone wants the Bible to say.
15:42 But, you know what?
15:43 I've read the Bible from cover to cover and nowhere
15:46 in the Bible do I find where it says, thou shalt not
15:48 smoke crack.
16:03 The Bible teaches that my body is God's temple and so
16:11 because I know my body is God's temple and the Holy
16:14 Spirit must abide in me, then I know crack
16:18 and the Holy Spirit just don't go together.
16:20 Do I have a witness in this place?
16:26 But somebody wants the Word to say remember this day
16:30 or that day to keep it holy.
16:31 Go to Revelation 1:10: "I was in the Spirit on the
16:48 Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as
16:56 of a trumpet." Now, let me stop there.
17:01 People will try to use this text to justify what day
17:03 the Sabbath is, but the text does not give
17:07 a numerical or named day, the text just says that John
17:10 said, "I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day." Now,
17:19 let's back up.
17:20 We're in Revelation.
17:21 Go to Mark 2:27.
17:25 Trying to help somebody.
17:27 Not trying to offend, but trying to defend the Word
17:28 of God.
17:30 Jesus said, "and he said unto them the Sabbath
17:32 was made for" whom, everybody?
17:34 Man.
17:35 "And not man for the" what?
17:36 (Aud: Sabbath.) "Therefore the Son of man is Lord also
17:39 of the" what?
17:40 Sabbath.
17:41 In other words, the Sabbath was made for man, not man
17:44 for the Sabbath.
17:45 Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath.
17:47 If Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath day, would not then
17:50 the Lord's day be the Sabbath?
17:58 But someone wants to know still, which day
18:00 is the Sabbath.
18:01 Pastor, you've been clear on all this, but which day
18:03 is the Sabbath?
18:04 All right.
18:05 Now, if I were to go to a dictionary and I would look
18:09 up Saturday, it would say Saturday is the
18:11 seventh day of the week.
18:17 If I go to an unaltered calendar, if I go to the
18:22 seventh day of the week, the seventh day is Saturday.
18:24 If I were fluent in the Spanish language, I would
18:32 go to Sabado, which is translated in the English,
18:38 Saturday the Sabbath.
18:42 If I go to an orthodox Jew and I ask him which day
18:46 is Sabbath, they will tell me Saturday, the seventh day,
18:52 is the Sabbath.
18:55 But our rule at the revival has been,
18:59 don't go to the calendar, don't go to a language
19:04 dictionary, don't go to an orthodox Jew,
19:09 but our creed at the revival has been, go to
19:12 the Word of God.
19:17 Let's go to Luke 23:50: "And, behold, there was
19:23 a man named Joseph, a counsellor, and he was
19:26 a good man, a just: (The same had not consented to the
19:29 counsel and deed of them;) he was of Arimathaea,
19:32 a city of the Jews: who also himself waited
19:35 for the kingdom of God.
19:36 This man went unto Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus."
19:38 He was the undertaker.
19:40 "And he took it down, and wrapped it in linen,
19:41 and laid it in a sepulchre that was hewn in stone, wherein
19:43 never man before was laid.
19:44 And that day was the preparation."
19:45 Preparation, sixth day.
19:47 Good Friday.
19:56 "And the Sabbath drew on."
20:01 Which means, the seventh-day Sabbath
20:04 followed the sixth day, Good Friday.
20:07 Verse 55: "And the women also, which came with him
20:09 from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulchre,
20:10 and how his body was laid.
20:11 And they returned, and prepared spices
20:13 and ointments: and rested the Sabbath day according
20:18 to the" what, everybody?
20:19 (Aud: Commandment.) Even in death Jesus was obedient
20:21 to his commandment.
20:24 All right, so, day six, Good Friday, preparation
20:27 day, his body was taken down from the cross.
20:29 On day seven, the seventh-day Sabbath,
20:31 Saturday, his body lay resting in the grave.
20:34 Luke 24:1, the Bible says: "Now upon the first day
20:42 of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto
20:47 the sepulchre, bringing the spices, which they
20:49 had prepared, and certain others with them.
20:51 And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre.
20:53 And they entered in, and found not the body
20:57 of the Lord Jesus.
20:58 And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed
21:00 thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining
21:04 garments: And as they were afraid, and bowed down
21:07 their faces to the earth, they said unto them,
21:09 Why seek ye the living among the dead?
21:11 He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake
21:16 unto you when he was yet in Galilee, saying,
21:18 The Son of man must be delivered into the hands
21:19 of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third
21:22 day rise again.
21:23 And they remembered his words." Day six,
21:28 according to the Bible, the preparation day, Good
21:30 Friday, he died, body was taken down from the cross.
21:31 On day seven, according to the Bible, the seventh-day
21:34 Sabbath, Saturday, his body was resting in the grave
21:36 according to the commandment.
21:37 On the first day of the week, because when you end seven
21:42 days, you told me at the beginning of this
21:44 presentation that there were seven days in a week,
21:46 so when you have seven days, you have to now go
21:48 back to day number one.
21:49 You don't have a seven-and-a-half day.
21:54 Day one, first day of the week, early in the morning,
22:01 Christian community understands it as Easter
22:04 Sunday, Jesus rose.
22:10 Praise God, Jesus rose.
22:13 But nowhere in scripture does it say that because
22:17 he rose on this first day of the week that that should
22:22 replace God's Sabbath, because God says
22:26 I am the Lord, I change not.
22:26 This text just points out sixth day, Friday, seventh
22:31 day, Saturday, first day, Sunday.
22:35 Remember the seventh-day Sabbath, Saturday,
22:40 to keep it holy.
22:40 So somebody says, Pastor Byrd, that's clear.
22:46 That's clear.
22:47 I cannot debate that from scripture.
22:49 That is clear.
22:52 But then they say, what difference does a day make?
22:56 Well, let me answer your question with another question.
23:01 I'm sure we could ask Adam and Eve what difference
23:08 does fruit make.
23:12 God said, don't eat it.
23:13 Don't touch it, lest you die.
23:19 God rested on the seventh day.
23:21 Why he told the seventh day, that's his business,
23:23 he's God.
23:24 But God is a God of specifics.
23:29 What difference does fruit make?
23:31 Let's ask Cain and Abel what difference does
23:33 a sacrifice make?
23:37 God is a God of specifics.
23:40 And we like to say in the Christian community,
23:41 well, God didn't accept Cain's offering because it
23:45 was not Cain's best.
23:47 That's not true.
23:51 God didn't accept Cain's offering because Cain
23:56 did not give God what God asked for.
24:01 God asked for a lamb, because remember, there can
24:03 be no sacrifice without the shedding of what?
24:05 Blood.
24:06 Cain brought his best fruit, best grains
24:12 and vegetables.
24:13 And so it looked good, it probably tasted good,
24:18 but God couldn't accept it because it was not
24:21 what God asked for.
24:26 Well, Pastor, my ministry, my church is good.
24:28 The choir sings good.
24:31 The preacher preaches good.
24:33 The fellowship is real good, and it just might be.
24:37 But you've got to give God what God asks for.
24:48 What difference does a day make?
24:52 All I know is God said it and that's so.
24:54 Mark 7:6: "He answered and said unto them, Well hath
25:06 Esias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written,
25:12 This people honoureth me with their
25:15 lips, but their heart is far from me.
25:23 Howbeit in vain do they worship me,
25:26 teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
25:30 For laying aside the commandment of God,
25:33 ye hold the tradition of men."
25:37 Example: "As the washing of pots and cups: and many other
25:39 such like things ye do.
25:39 And he said unto them, Full well ye reject
25:45 the commandment of God, that ye may keep your
25:49 own tradition." Matthew 7:21: "Not every one that saith
26:06 unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom
26:13 of heaven; but he that doeth."
