01:02 is Dr. Carlton Byrd and I'm the speaker director 01:04 for Breath of Life television ministry. 01:07 Right now I'm standing on the beautiful island of Bermuda. 01:10 That's right, Breath of Life is in the country of Bermuda. 01:14 This wonderful island nation of 20 miles long, pink sand, 01:19 beautiful beaches, palm trees, it's just paradise on earth. 01:24 But when I think about how beautiful it is, I say to 01:28 myself, God must have something even that much 01:31 better for us because the Word of God says, eyes have not 01:34 seen, neither have ears heard the things that God hath 01:38 prepared for them that love him. 01:40 Heaven is going to be that much better than this, and 01:44 while I can come here and vacation, I can come here and 01:47 swim and jet ski, we've come, Breath of Life has, 01:51 to preach the Word of God. 01:53 That's right, we're here for their camp meeting and 01:56 we're preaching that Jesus Christ loves us 01:58 and he is soon to return. 02:00 May God bless you as you watch as we minister 02:04 to you to tell a dying world that Jesus saves. 02:10 ♪ (Theme Song) ♪ ♪ Jesus is worthy. . . ♪ 02:19 ♪ oh yes, he's worthy. . . ♪ ♪ worthy of all... ♪ 02:27 (Music ) PB: Good evening. 02:32 I am Dr. Carlton Byrd, the speaker director for Breath of 02:34 Life television ministry, and I am grateful 02:37 tonight that I am standing here getting ready to preach 02:40 the Word of God on the wonderful island 02:43 of Bermuda. 02:45 I am grateful to be here along with Breath of Life for the 02:48 Bermuda Conference of Seventh-Day Adventists, 02:51 their camp meeting. 02:52 I'm excited, the people here are excited and we want the 02:57 viewers to be excited. 02:59 Praise be to God. 03:00 I am here for the wonderful invitation through God's 03:04 manservant on the island of Bermuda, the president of the 03:07 Bermuda Conference, Dr. Jeffrey Brown. 03:10 Can we give Dr. Brown a big round of applause, everybody. 03:13 God bless you. 03:13 We are grateful that you've extended us this 03:16 privilege tonight. 03:17 We're ready to preach the Word of the God. 03:19 Go with me to the Book of Numbers. 03:20 What book, everybody? 03:21 Numbers, fourth book of the Old Testament, Genesis, 03:25 Exodus, Leviticus and Numbers. 03:27 Numbers, Chapter 13. 03:29 We want you to turn there with us. 03:33 Numbers 13:26. 03:51 If you have it, let me hear you say Amen. 03:54 Praise be to God, the Word says: "And they went and came 03:57 to Moses, and to Aaron, and to all the congregation of the 04:01 children of Israel, unto the wilderness of Paran, to 04:03 Kadesh; and brought back word unto them, and unto all the 04:07 congregation, and showed them the fruit of the land. 04:12 And they told him, and said, 'We came unto the land whither 04:15 thou sentest us, and surely it floweth with milk and. . .'" 04:19 And what, everybody? 04:20 "Honey; and this is the fruit of it. 04:22 "'Nevertheless, the people be strong that dwell in the land, 04:26 and the cities are walled, and very great: and moreover 04:31 we saw the children of Anak there. 04:35 The Amelekites dwell in the land of the south: and the 04:38 Hittites, and the Jebusites, and the Amorite, dwell in the 04:41 mountains: and the Canaanites dwell by the sea, and by the 04:45 coast of Jordan.' And Caleb stilled the people before 04:51 Moses, and said, 'Let us go up at'" what, everybody? 04:58 "'Once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.' 05:03 But the men that went up with him said, 'We be not able to 05:06 go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.' 05:12 "And they brought up an evil report of the land which they 05:15 had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, 'The land, 05:18 through which we have gone to search it, is a land that 05:22 eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people 05:26 that we saw in it are men of a great,'" great what? 05:31 "'Stature." Verse 33: "'And there we saw the giants, the 05:37 sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our 05:42 own sight.'" Lord, have mercy. 05:47 "'In our own sight as,'" what, everybody? 05:51 "'Grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.'" Do me a 05:54 favor and turn to your neighbor and say, neighbor, 05:57 say, let Pharaoh go. 06:00 Let's pray. 06:01 Father, we thank you so much for the abiding presence of 06:05 your Holy Ghost is again with us. 06:07 We ask that, God, you would speak through us and 06:11 speak to your people. 06:13 God, may your anointing be seen, be felt, and be heard. 06:16 We give you all the glory. 06:17 We give you all the honor. 06:18 We give you all the praise. 06:20 Hiding behind your cross, forgive me of my sins, in 06:23 the name of Jesus we pray. 06:25 Let everyone say Amen. 06:27 And Amen. 06:28 Let Pharaoh go. 06:30 Let who go, everybody? 06:31 Let Pharaoh go. 06:33 One of the advantages of being a child of God is that God is 06:42 always moving us to higher levels. 06:47 But whenever God is moving us to higher levels, 06:51 we've got to be careful. 06:52 Why do we need to be careful? 06:55 Because get ready, with the higher level 06:57 there's a higher devil. 06:59 Do I have a witness in this place? 07:01 Nevertheless, I've come to tell you this evening that 07:05 every experience that we have in life is preparing 07:10 us for the next level. 07:11 Everything that you're going through in your life is 07:14 preparing you for the next experience. 07:17 And so, regardless of what you're going through, 07:21 you ought to learn how to thank God 07:23 for whatever you're going through, because when you're 07:26 going through things in life, it's really God's example, 07:30 God's testimony to let you know that God is getting ready 07:35 to do something big in somebody's life. 07:38 If, friends of mine, you want to know if God is getting 07:41 ready to do something in your life and it appears that the 07:44 devil has picked you out to pick on you, you ought to be 07:48 shouting right now, because that means God is getting 07:53 ready to do something in your life. 07:57 And so, brothers and sisters, I want you to hear me 08:00 and hear me well. 08:01 Whenever, wherever there is no progress, there is no growth. 08:07 Wherever there is no growth, there is no life. 08:11 And wherever there is no life, God's not in that. 08:16 Because where God is there is life, and where life is, there 08:22 is growth, and where growth is, there is progression. 08:26 Are you hearing what I'm saying? 08:28 And so Biblically, there are three stages each of us as 08:31 believers must go through. 08:33 They are chronicled in the Old Testament, because all of us 08:37 have heard a sermon at one time or another on the 08:41 children of Israel. 08:43 There are three stages that I would like to examine today. 08:47 First of all, we have to understand this thing 08:50 called Egypt. 08:51 Everybody say Egypt. 08:53 And then, secondly, there is the wilderness. 08:56 And then thirdly, there is the Promised Land. 09:00 Everybody say the Promised Land. 09:02 You see, many of us in our lives, we've been through 09:06 enough Egypt. 09:08 Anybody know what I'm talking about when I say Egypt? 09:10 Let me help you understand. 09:12 Egypt represents bondage. 09:15 Egypt represents slavery, and somebody here knows that in 09:21 their life they've lived through enough Egypt. 09:25 But then, the second phase, the wilderness. 09:28 Which means and represents the mean time. 09:31 It represents that place between blessings. 09:34 It represents that period of ambiguity, that period where I 09:38 know God is doing something in my life, but I really don't 09:42 know what God is doing. 09:43 And so all of us, we've been through the wilderness. 09:47 But then, my brothers and my sisters, there another level. 09:51 Because once we get out of Egypt, once we get through 09:57 with the wilderness, I'm here to let you know 10:00 there is a place called the Promised Land. 10:03 Hallelujah, somebody. 10:04 There is a place called the Promised Land and I want you 10:08 to understand, brothers and sisters, because so many 10:11 believers get close to the Promised Land, 10:14 but they miss it. 10:16 We get on the brink, we get right there, we get where God 10:21 has promised us. 10:23 We can see what God said he was going to do but 10:26 we miss it. 10:28 And so, I want to let you know today, I don't know about you, 10:32 but I'm not going to be satisfied with getting close 10:35 to the Promised Land. 10:36 I plan to go into the Promised Land. 10:40 There's a song I used to sing, I'm on my way 10:43 to the Canaan land. 10:44 If you don't go, don't hinder me. 10:47 I'm on my way, praise the good Lord. 10:50 I'm on my way because I plan to make heaven my home. 10:53 Do I have a witness in this place? 10:55 So, there is someone else tonight, I feel like you're 10:59 like me, you want to make it to the Promised Land. 11:01 You're not interested in setting up shop and just 11:05 sitting there, but if you want what God has for your life, 11:09 you've got to make up in your mind that, I'm too close to 11:13 miss it and I've got to let Pharaoh go. 11:16 So I want you to see something today, because the children of 11:19 Israel, God's chosen people, had been on a journey on their 11:22 way to the Promised Land. 11:24 They left Egypt, they escaped the fiery hand of Pharaoh. 11:28 God made the Red Sea a dry highway. 11:33 God provided manna in the wilderness. 11:35 They were now at the Promised Land, and the Bible declares 11:39 that right here at Kadesh they sent some spies out. 11:43 They viewed the land. 11:47 They said, yes, this is exactly what God said 11:51 it was going to be. 11:53 It surely is what God says. 11:55 But then, the Bible says, an evil report came back. 12:00 The evil report came back that said, we can't do it. 12:07 What do we have here? 12:08 One journey but two reports. 12:12 One mission, but two different opinions. 12:17 One report says we can do it. 12:20 Another report says, we can't do it because we are as 12:24 grasshoppers in our sight. 12:28 Now, tonight, how many of us have some things we 12:31 need from the Lord? 12:33 Amen? 12:34 Well, I want to share with you now three things to help you 12:38 understand what happens when you get close to the Promised 12:41 Land and how to make it in. 12:43 Number one, I want to tell you this and we're going 12:47 to see this in the text. 12:48 If we're going to make it to the Promised Land, number one, 12:52 we have to be delivered from an Egyptian attitude. 12:58 Let me say that again. 13:00 You and I, we have to be delivered from 13:03 an Egyptian attitude. 13:06 You've got to let Pharaoh go. 13:09 Now I want to say this because I want you to see this. 13:13 If there's one area in all of our lives that we have to work 13:16 on so that we don't miss what God has for our lives, 13:19 it's our attitude. 13:22 Everybody say attitude. 13:24 You see, it's one thing to be delivered out of Egypt, but 13:29 it's another thing to get the Egypt out of you. 13:42 The reason why the children of Israel are struggling whether 13:47 or not to go into the Promised Land is because of the effects 13:51 of their Egyptian experience. 13:54 Egypt was bondage. 13:57 Pharaoh told them when, Pharaoh told them why, 14:02 Pharaoh told them how. 14:03 Pharaoh shook their self-esteem. 14:08 Pharaoh represents a system, a system that controls 14:12 and manipulates. 14:14 And if you've been in bondage to the system, it creates a 14:17 mindset that becomes institutionalized to the 14:21 system and before long you can begin to think you will 14:25 never be anything. 14:26 You can never do anything because Pharaoh has 14:30 tainted your attitude. 14:32 Although you've been delivered out of Pharaoh's house, 14:36 Pharaoh is still in your house. 14:41 Chapter 13:27 says, "And they told him, and said, 14:47 'We came unto the land whither thou sentest us, 14:49 and surely it floweth with milk and honey; 14:54 and this is the fruit of it.'" Here it is, 14:56 here's the evidence. 14:57 "'Nevertheless the people be strong that dwell in the land, 15:03 and the cities are walled.'" We saw the children 15:06 of Anak in that city. 15:08 I want you to see this, brothers and sisters, because 15:10 Israel means chosen. 15:12 You're chosen. 15:13 I want you to see this because Israel means chosen and when 15:19 you and I realize that we are chosen people of God, when we 15:25 realize who we are, then we will begin to seek 15:28 deliverance from this attitude that tries to keep us from 15:31 experiencing what God has for our lives. 15:37 Some of us think we can't do. 15:39 Some of us think we can't be delivered from an Egyptian 15:41 attitude or a mindset but we've got to let Pharaoh go. 15:44 Are you hearing what I'm saying? 15:47 You see, Egyptian mentality relies on excuses. 15:50 I'm nothing, my momma was nothing, my grandmomma was 15:56 nothing, daddy was nothing, so I'll just be nothing. 16:00 But can we talk tonight? 16:03 Can we get real tonight? 16:04 Everybody say Egypt. 16:06 Come on, say it like you mean it. 16:08 Say Egypt. 16:09 Egypt mindset says, go ahead and get every credit card you 16:18 can, max them out, spend it all up, dress as good as you 16:24 want, put all those clothes on your back, Hugo Boss, Donna 16:31 Karan, Versace, Prada, Louis Vuitton, 16:34 you name it, you get it. 16:36 Don't worry about paying the balance off. 16:38 As a matter of fact, Pharaoh says, I'll give you a loan to 16:41 buy a car, but I'm not giving you a loan to buy a house. 16:45 Go ahead, look good, but stay broke. 16:49 Somebody say Egypt. 16:53 Egypt says, go ahead, buy a big flat screen TV, even if 17:00 it means that in the United States you have to pay 17:02 Rent-a-Center $50 for 50 years to do that and when it's all 17:07 said and done, you paid for 50 big screen TVs for just one. 17:11 Somebody say Egypt. 17:13 Egypt says, go ahead, spend $100 for cable but don't 17:18 invest $100 in your future. 17:20 Egypt says, go out, neglect your children because you're 17:30 so lonely you've got to spend all your time with some man. 17:35 Leave your children home hungry. 17:37 Somebody say Egypt. 17:40 Trying to help somebody. 17:40 Egypt says go ahead, make as many babies as you want. 17:44 You don't have to work. 17:46 It's getting quiet in this place. 17:48 You don't have to work, let Pharaoh take care of them. 17:52 Don't worry about it, Pharaoh will raise your children and 17:56 when Pharaoh gets through raising your children, 17:59 don't get mad at Pharaoh. 18:00 You didn't pay them any attention. 18:03 When you saw your cell phone ringing, you didn't pay 18:07 it any attention. 18:08 When you saw their pants hanging off their waist, you 18:12 didn't pay them any attention. 18:13 Don't worry about it, Pharaoh won't give them $40,000 a year 18:17 for college, but Pharaoh will pay $40,000 a year 18:20 to keep them in jail. 18:22 Somebody say Egypt. 18:29 Egypt says, you've always had church like this. 18:34 We've never tried anything new. 18:41 We've never had technology. 18:44 We've never had a praise team. 18:47 We can't grow. 18:50 We can't be big. 18:52 No, you'll never be big as long as little has you. 18:56 You'll never be big as long as you're practicing 8-track 19:00 ministry in a DVD society. 19:03 Somebody say Egypt. 19:05 But let me tell you something. 19:07 I've come to let somebody know that I don't know about you, 19:12 but I'm tired of Egyptian mentality. 19:15 I'm tired of negative folk. 19:18 I'm tired of visionless folk. 19:21 If you can't see, baby, get out of my way. 19:25 I know what God's Word says. 19:27 God says, I will supply everyone of your needs 19:32 according to my riches and glory. 19:35 You don't need Egypt folk in your house. 19:37 You don't need Egypt folk in your car. 19:40 You' don't need Egypt folk around you, because if they 19:43 can't see what God has for you, they don't have any 19:46 business being around you. 19:48 Let Pharaoh go. 19:52 And so I'm talking about Egypt. 19:55 Egypt says, you come in here to sing and shout, but when 19:59 our children's children asked us what we have to show for 20:03 it, we'll tell them God didn't mean enough to us to give him 20:08 a dime out of every dollar. 20:11 We'll tell them God wasn't worth it. 20:13 And don't tell me you didn't have it. 20:15 You had it. 20:17 Let me tell you something. 20:18 You know what? 20:20 You spent it. 20:21 Yeah, you spent it. 20:22 Pastor, what did I spend it on? 20:24 You spent it on your hair or you spent it on getting 20:28 some extra hair. 20:29 I wish I had a witness in this place. 20:31 You spent it on some toenails and fingernails. 20:34 You spent it on some clothes. 20:38 You spent it on that cell phone. 20:40 You spent it on that vacation. 20:43 Somebody needs to say Egypt. 20:45 Let me bowl down somebody else's alley. 20:52 Let me needle this just a little bit more. 20:55 Secondly, you've got a desire to want to engage in action. 21:01 Tell your neighbor, neighbor, you've got to want 21:04 to do something. 21:06 Now remember, Israel is faced with two reports. 21:11 One that says what God said it would be. 21:15 That's positive. 21:16 The other one is talking about problems, the negative. 21:19 The Bible says the spies went to view the land. 21:25 And there's a spiritual principle that I want to share 21:27 with you right now, because if you're going to get 21:30 into God's Promised Land, then you've got to understand 21:32 how God deals with his people. 21:34 I want you to see this. 21:36 You and I, we have to want to do something to get what 21:41 we're supposed to get. 21:44 Listen to me, young people, very well. 21:46 If you want a job, you've got to get up and fill out 21:52 an application. 21:55 You've got to get up and develop a resume. 21:58 Are you hearing what I'm saying? 22:00 If in the spiritual context you want to make it to heaven, 22:05 that means you've got to live right, you've got to eat 22:09 right, you've got to talk right, you've got to do right. 22:12 Are you hearing what I'm saying? 22:14 I want you to see this. 22:17 God let them see it so that they would know 22:21 what he has promised, he is able to perform, 22:24 They say, yeah, we saw it. 22:27 Here is the evidence in our hands, that, yes, it's what 22:31 God says it would be. 22:34 Now, seeing it implies vision. 22:37 Everybody say vision. 22:38 The Bible says where there's no vision the people what? 22:42 Perish. Now, I've learned in my 22:45 experience the reason why some folk don't do anything is 22:50 because they've never seen anything. 22:53 Vision first of all is hindsight. 22:57 Vision has got to know where you're coming from. 23:02 You see, some folk, some of us, you've forgotten where 23:05 you've come from. 23:06 Now because you've got a little car, little house, 23:08 little money, you've forgotten from whence you come. 23:12 You've forgotten where the Lord has brought you from. 23:16 Vision has to remember how far the Lord has brought you. 23:19 Vision has to remember that through many dangers, 23:22 toils and snares, I have already come. 23:26 I haven't always had a nice car. 23:29 I haven't always had a nice suit. 23:31 I haven't always had the type of clothes that I could pick 23:34 out and say, I'm going to wear black today, blue tomorrow. 23:37 Somebody new remembers the days when you had one Sabbath 23:42 suit, one pair of Sabbath shoes. 23:46 Are you hearing what I'm saying, everybody? 23:48 Somebody remembers the day where you knew what 23:50 you were going to wear. 23:52 Somebody remembers the day you knew what you 23:54 were going to eat. 23:55 If it was rice and beans, or beans and rice, or peas 23:59 and rice, rice and peas, you knew what you 24:01 were going to eat. 24:02 Are you hearing what I'm saying? 24:04 Vision says, I know from whence I've come. 24:09 But then not only is vision hindsight, but vision 24:12 is also insight. 24:14 Because vision has to know what God is doing right now. 24:19 There are some folk, you're sitting in here right now, 24:21 some people you are watching right now and you don't 24:23 realize what God is doing in our midst. 24:26 In case you didn't know, you better read the Book of Daniel 24:29 and the Revelations. 24:30 Prophecy is coming to pass. 24:33 The spirit of God is being returned from this earth. 24:37 We have hurricanes, earthquakes, tornadoes 24:41 in mass proportion. 24:42 God says, in the last days. 24:44 Joel says that the Bible says, he's going to pour out his 24:49 spirit on all flesh. 24:51 The Bible says, sons and daughters shall prophesy. 24:55 Old men shall dream dreams. 24:57 Young men shall have visions. 24:59 There's a mighty move of God going on right now. 25:04 We're in the midst of a revival, a rebirth, a 25:07 renaissance, and some people, you've got to know what God is 25:11 doing in your life. 25:12 For many of you God is doing something right now even in 25:15 your home. 25:16 You don't realize it, but some of our children are quoting 25:18 more scripture than we know. 25:19 You ought to know God is pouring out his spirit, that 25:23 God is doing something right now so you have hindsight. 25:26 You have insight. 25:27 And then, number three, you've got to have foresight, because 25:31 you've got to know where God is getting ready to take you. 25:35 Can you believe half of this year is already over. 25:41 You've got to know where God is getting ready to take you. 25:45 Let me put it this way. 25:46 Let me preach a little bit. 25:47 I like to teach, but let me preach a little bit right now. 25:49 Everybody say, see it. 25:51 Come on, say it like you mean it. 25:54 Say see it. 25:56 You see, God lets you see it. 25:58 God lets the children of Israel see it. 26:02 But then once you see it, you've got to then say it. 26:07 And then once you say it, then you can seize it. 26:14 Everybody say seize it. 26:16 So you see it, you say it, and then you seize it. 26:21 The Bible says, they saw it. 26:25 But what they said allowed them to miss it. 26:29 When God allows you to see something, when God allows you 26:33 to see the Promised Land, you've got to be careful what 26:37 comes out of your mouth. 26:39 Because the Bible says the power of life and death is in 26:42 your tongue, and the moment you sit around talking about 26:46 I'll never be that, I'll never have that, I can't ever do 26:51 that, I can't make it to the Promised Land, you will begin 26:54 to speak that stuff into existence. 26:59 Child of God, don't you know who you are?
