Amen. 03:09 Here comes Jesus. 03:19 There comes a time in everybody's life where you 03:24 wake up and realize where your blessings come from. 03:28 If they haven't come, keep on living because at some point 03:32 in our lives we were out in the world doing something we 03:35 had no business doing, giving our attention to 03:39 everything and everybody but God. 03:42 But through it all God has kept us, because we know that 03:47 had not God been putting up with us in spite of us, none 03:52 of us would be in this place today. 03:54 Do I have a witness in this place? 03:57 Now, the ministry of Jesus was one in which literally 04:01 Jesus gave of himself. 04:04 Jesus was a giver. 04:08 All of his ministry was characterized by himself 04:10 pouring himself out and giving of himself. 04:13 As a matter of fact, every situation we encounter in the 04:17 gospel, it is Jesus the Christ giving of himself. 04:22 When people were deaf, Jesus gave of himself 04:27 and now people hear. 04:29 When people were mute, they could not talk, Jesus gave of 04:33 himself and people were able to speak. 04:36 When people were sick, Jesus again gave of himself 04:39 and people were healed. 04:41 When people were hungry in the desert, remember, Jesus gave 04:44 of himself, five thousand men plus women and children 04:47 were fed. 04:49 When people were possessed with demons, demons were 04:53 traveling on the avenues ofheir minds. 04:56 One boy in the cemetery, the Bible teaches of one day, 05:00 Jesus gave of himself and he became a psychiatrist and now 05:05 this boy is clothed in his right mind. 05:09 So whenever there's an issue, whenever there's a problem, 05:13 it was Jesus who gave of himself. 05:17 And I believe that those of us who are the recipients of what 05:20 Jesus has given ought to take time to give Jesus 05:25 something back in return. 05:28 People who do not give back to God are people who have not 05:30 realized where their blessings come from. 05:34 There's the mark of culture, the stamp of etiquette says 05:39 that whenever somebody does something for you, the least 05:43 you can say is say thank you. 05:47 And if the Lord has ever done anything for anybody, if the 05:51 Lord has ever brought anybody up out of a certain situation, 05:56 if the Lord has given you things you asked for or even 05:59 when you didn't deserve it, somebody ought to open up 06:03 their mouth and say, thank you, Jesus. 06:05 Here Jesus, in the text, rides through his triumphal 06:11 entry into Jerusalem. 06:13 Jesus gives a directive that I want us to examine today. 06:19 There are three principles I want us to learn and the first 06:22 principle is that we have a strange request. 06:26 Everybody say, a strange request. 06:28 Look at verse 28 again, the word of God says, "And when 06:32 he had thus spoken, he went before, ascending 06:37 up to Jerusalem." 06:38 Verse 29: "And it came to pass, when he was come nigh to 06:40 Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount called the mount of 06:44 Olives, he sent," how many of his disciples? 06:48 Two. 06:48 Now what did he send them to do? 06:50 Go to verse 30, the Bible says: "Go ye into the village 06:52 over against you; in the which at your entering ye shall find 06:57 a colt tied, whereon yet never man sat." 07:02 In other words, nobody's ever ridden this colt. 07:05 "And loose him," Jesus says, "and bring him hither." 07:09 Strange request. Why? 07:11 This request is strange because Jesus sends them into 07:16 a place to do a strange thing. 07:18 He sends them into a strange place to get something that 07:23 does not even belong to them. 07:26 Brothers and sisters, know this, God will send you in 07:29 strange places, but in the midst of that strange place, 07:34 believe me, God knows what he's doing. 07:37 Some of you right now, God has asked you to go 07:40 into strange places. 07:41 God has you in a strange place and you're like, God, 07:45 why am I here? 07:46 Lord, what do you want me to do? 07:49 Just go ahead and go there, because the Lord wants you to 07:52 understand that he knows what he's doing. 07:56 Let's break it down. 08:00 The colt is tied up. 08:03 Now, in a sense the colt symbolizes the areas in our 08:06 lives that are tied up, our gifts, our talents, our 08:13 dreams, our purposes. 08:15 This in a sense is what the colt symbolizes. 08:17 Understand, the colt is tied up and it is a mental thing 08:22 for the colt because the owner of the colt has taken the 08:25 rope, put it around the pole so the colt really isn't tied 08:30 up, the rope is just around the pole, but the colt 08:34 thinks he's tied up. 08:37 So because he thinks he's tied up, he acts tied up. 08:42 But if he really, somebody knows what I'm talking about, 08:44 but if he really wanted to get away, he could but it's really 08:49 a mind game. 08:51 Some of us think we're tied up in some stuff, but it's really 08:56 just a mind game, because if we really wanted out in the 09:00 name of Jesus, we could get out. 09:03 Now watch this. 09:04 The colt being tied up symbolizes our gifts, 09:09 symbolizes our purpose, our destiny, what God has for me. 09:13 Remember now, the Bible says that the colt is alive, but 09:19 the post he's tied to has no life. 09:23 He's a live thing, but he's tied to something dead. 09:32 You all don't hear what I'm saying. 09:34 And I want you to understand, brothers and sisters, 09:36 something very clear here. 09:37 A lot of us would be better off in our lives if we weren't 09:43 tied to dead things. 09:46 The reason why your purpose has not been manifested in 09:50 your life is because God has not brought out in you the 09:54 things he has placed in you because too many of us are 09:57 tied up to dead, comfortable things. 10:01 You've got to make up in your mind that you're not going to 10:04 allow yourself to be tied to dead things, because you will 10:08 never reach your full potential in life if you've 10:11 become comfortable tied to dead things that Jesus says, 10:13 go in and let the colt know that I want him loose. 10:20 Now remember this, while the rope may be around our necks, 10:25 if we want to be loosed, we can be loosed. 10:29 Now, the Bible says that when the colt is tied no man has 10:35 ever ridden him, which means that Jesus says, I want you to 10:40 bring the colt to me because I want to break the colt in. 10:46 If you loose him, I'll break him in. 10:50 And oftentimes this is what God is trying to tell us. 10:54 God says, if you would just loose that thing, 10:57 I will show you the potential that's in it. 11:01 I will bring to fruition all of the things that the gift I 11:05 put inside of you has to offer, but you have 11:08 to have the courage. 11:10 You have to have the foresight. 11:12 You have to have the unction to loose it and once you loose 11:14 it, I will break it in and show you all the potential 11:19 that's been tied up. 11:21 But too many of us are still frustrated because our gifts 11:24 are still bound and they're not being used. 11:27 The Lord teaches us that with a strange request you also 11:32 have to have a spiritual response. 11:35 Strange request, you have to have a spiritual response, 11:41 because you have to understand that whenever you go loosing 11:44 something that's been bound, there's going to be a whole 11:46 bunch of folk that have questions. 11:49 Why you doing this? 11:52 What's wrong with you? 11:53 And so Jesus says, look, I don't need you. 11:56 I don't want you to respond out of your flesh. 11:59 Because if you respond out of your flesh, you're going to 12:02 hurt somebody. 12:03 I know some of you, you're too deep to understand that, but 12:06 isn't it amazing how when you're doing what God has told 12:10 you to do, that is when folk will start questioning you. 12:13 Why are you doing what you're doing? 12:16 By what authority do you have to do what you've just done? 12:20 And you know, if you're not careful your old self will 12:25 rise up and you're bound to give them another 12:28 kind of response. 12:29 Are you hearing what I'm saying? 12:31 So Jesus said, so you don't get mixed up on the right 12:34 response, Jesus says, if they ask you, tell them that the 12:43 master has need of them. 12:47 Yes, they're going to question you. 12:49 But you've got to tell them that the master 12:52 has need of them. 12:53 That's your spiritual response. 12:55 I know there's some people up in here, you have some gifts, 12:57 you have some destiny that is tied up, 13:00 and I know there are some people that are going to 13:02 question you, what are you coming for now from? 13:05 By what authority are you now doing what you're doing? 13:08 You better let them know, the master has need of it. 13:13 Jesus needs us, and that's all you need to know. 13:18 And so I come to let you know that there are some gifts tied 13:24 up in this place today, that voice that somebody's 13:28 been sitting on. 13:29 Jesus is saying, loose it, the master has need of it. 13:33 Somebody in here, you have the gift of teaching, 13:36 but it's been tied up. 13:37 The master says, loose it, I've got need of it. 13:41 That business you've been wanting to start, loose it, 13:45 I have need of it. 13:46 That bk you were supposed to write 10 years ago, loose it, 13:49 I have need of it. 13:52 All the dreams and desires that are in you, Jesus says, 13:55 loose it, I have need of it. 14:00 And if anybody has a problem with it, Jesus says they can 14:02 take it up with me. 14:04 You see, the problem is we don't want to loose it. 14:08 But if you just do what you can do, God will do 14:12 what you can't do. 14:13 If you just loose it, God will do the rest. 14:17 But then, secondly. 14:19 Friends of mine, we've got to learn 14:21 how to redirect our resources. 14:24 What do you mean? 14:26 Well, if it's truly about the Lord, then we will understand 14:29 what occurs next. 14:32 The colt is loosed and brought to Jesus. 14:35 The people begin responding to him in ways that pointed 14:37 their commitment to him. 14:39 It's only one thing to talk about how much you love the 14:41 Lord, but it's a whole other thing to show how much 14:44 you love the Lord. 14:45 Now, look at verse 35. 14:46 Quickly, verse 35 and 36. 14:49 The word of God says this: "And they brought him to 14:52 Jesus: and they cast their garments upon the colt, and 14:56 they set Jesus thereon." 14:58 Verse 36: "And as he went, they spread their clothes 15:05 in the way." 15:06 Now, let's figure out what's going on? 15:08 Here Jesus is, rides on a colt into the city. 15:13 That thing that has been tied up has now been 15:18 given to Jesus. 15:20 Notice this in the text, when the disciples loosed the colt, 15:25 they do not ride the colt back to Jesus. 15:28 Their job was not to ride the colt, but their job 15:32 was to bring the colt back. 15:34 Because remember, the colt has not been ridden yet. 15:37 The colt has not been broken in yet. 15:39 And the problem is this, if they were trying to ride the 15:42 colt back, they would have been out of order because the 15:46 colt would have been out of control. 15:48 Our problem is too many of us, we're trying to help the Lord, 15:53 and we don't let God be God. 16:00 I'll just go and break it in some for the Lord and make 16:02 this more comfortable. 16:03 No! God knows what God is doing. 16:06 God knows you can't handle it right now until he goes before 16:10 you and sets it in order. 16:12 Am I talking to anybody in this place? 16:14 Watch this, you've got to be willing in your life to give 16:17 full control to the Lord, and when it's about him you'll be 16:23 willing to let it go. 16:24 Jesus is on the colt, which means he's got it, and the 16:29 best way to let the Lord know it's about him is to give him 16:32 sovereign reign over your situation. 16:35 It is to be able to say, Lord, whatever I am 16:38 it's because you're in control. 16:40 Lord, wherever you would have me to go, 16:43 it's because you're in control. 16:46 Lord, whatever you would have me to do, it's because 16:50 you're in control. 16:52 God, whatever you would have me to say, it's because 16:54 you're in control. 16:55 I'm tired of trying to figure it out. 16:58 I'm tired of trying to ride this thing on my own. 17:00 Lord, whatever you want me to do in this situation, it's all 17:04 right with me, because I know that as long as it's in your 17:08 hands I know it's all right. 17:12 Well, there's something else in the text. 17:15 Something else. 17:16 The Bible says that once Jesus got on the colt the people 17:21 took their clothes, they took their garments and they laid 17:25 them on the ground. 17:27 The Bible says the colt that held Jesus would now be 17:32 walking on their clothes. 17:34 Now, I knot this doesn't make sense to somebody, but in a 17:38 minute it will, because the reality is they 17:41 sacrificed their garments. 17:43 You see, these clothes were valuable to them. 17:47 In a sense the clothes were all that the people had and 17:52 now they were willing to sacrifice what was valuable to 17:55 make him look good. 18:00 They were willing to say, it's not about me, 18:04 but it's all about you. 18:08 The people took what they had, they said, I'm willing 18:13 to sacrifice. 18:15 Are you willing to sacrifice? 18:17 Number three. 18:22 The text shows us they learned how to praise him 18:25 without restraint. 18:29 Tell your neighbor, neighbor, I can praise him 18:31 without restraint. 18:34 Now remember, Jesus ascended to Jerusalem. 18:41 The Bible then says that when he came down, the people are 18:44 laying their sacrifices before him and the people 18:48 began praising God. 18:50 Now, I want you to see in this conclusion the circumstances 18:54 that are going on while they are praising God. 18:56 First, the Bible says they are shouting at him, remembering. 19:01 What I mean. 19:02 Look at the text, look at verse 37. 19:03 Look at it quickly. 19:03 Come on. 19:04 "And when he was come nigh, even now at the descent of the 19:08 mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples 19:16 began to rejoice and praise God with a," 19:17 what kind of voice? 19:19 What kind of voice? 19:19 "All the mighty works that they had seen." 19:25 Why were they shouting with a loud voice? 19:29 They were shouting, not with a soft or weak voice, but they 19:33 were shouting with a loud voice because of the mighty 19:36 works that they had seen, and the reason why I'm learning in 19:40 my life that a lot of folk don't praise God is because 19:44 they haven't seen a thing. 19:47 Look at verse 39: "And some of the Pharisees." 19:56 Isn't it amazing, their always there, isn't it amazing 20:02 that that element is always there? 20:06 That critical negative element is always going to be there. 20:08 Don't be surprised when folk are tripping on it. 20:11 The Bible says, "And some of the Pharisees among the 20:17 multitude said unto him, Master," would you 20:23 tell them to be quiet. 20:31 I mean, you know, Jesus. 20:34 You know how we have church. 20:37 We heard your sermon on the mount. 20:39 We know you were talking about us, but this is how 20:43 we've been having church. 20:45 You know we've been reading the long prayers 20:48 in the temple. 20:49 We've been reading the book of the Torah and it's been pretty 20:52 quiet because that's the kind of way we do things 20:56 around here. 20:58 The church is dignified. 21:01 The church is sanctified. 21:03 It's sanctimonious and it doesn't take all that. 21:08 It's not dignified when you act that way. 21:12 Tell them, Jesus, to tone it down a bit. 21:16 We're trying to light our candles. 21:19 We're trying to get our incense burning and we're 21:22 really trying to enter in and all that over there, 21:25 that noise, just doesn't make sense. 21:27 As a matter of fact, Jesus, people that make that kind of 21:31 noise obviously don't have any intelligence, because that's 21:34 what ignorant folk do. 21:36 You know when you become dignified and you get some 21:43 letters behind your name, you don't act that way anymore. 21:48 Dollar General becomes Dollar Generall. 21:55 Not only do we want them to hush up because they're too 21:59 loud, but we have a problem with what they are saying. 22:04 What they are saying, Jesus, is that you are the king. 22:09 They've laid out their clothes and they're pointing to you 22:13 and they're saying, hosanna, and they're looking at you 22:17 and, Jesus, we have a fundamental problem with that 22:20 because our king doesn't come in riding on a donkey. 22:24 Our king doesn't come in on a colt. 22:27 Our king comes in with chariots and with guards, but 22:30 you've come in on a colt and, Jesus, we've 22:34 got a problem with that. 22:37 But notice in the text what Jesus says. 22:42 Jesus says, brother Pharisees, I appreciate your concern, 22:48 but all my ministry I've been trying to get you to comprehend 22:53 this one point. 22:55 So if you didn't know, now you know that I'm the King of 23:01 kings, and I'm the Lord of lords, and here comes Jesus. 23:09 In case you didn't know, now you know that I'm God all by 23:14 myself and I can do anything that I want to do and, 23:19 therefore, all these folk that get up and wave their hands, 23:22 all these folks with tears streaming down their cheeks, 23:25 all these folks who just want to rock in their seats, all 23:29 these folk who just want to praise him silently and all 23:32 these folks who want to praise him loudly, they have a right 23:37 to praise me because everything is their life is 23:43 as a result of me. 23:46 Here comes Jesus. 23:48 Here comes the King of kings. 23:52 Here comes the Lord of lords. 23:55 Right on, King Jesus. 23:56 No man can enter these, the Pharisees, what I want you to 24:00 understand is, everything in creation that I created, I 24:05 created them for my praise. 24:07 So verse 42 says, "If these should hold their peace," 24:13 we're liable to have a rock concert, because the rocks are 24:18 going to cry out. 24:20 So don't tell me to make them be quiet. 24:24 Don't tell me to tell them to hush their mouths. 24:27 I didn't start it, you can't stop it, 24:30 and they can't help it. 24:33 You see that woman over there? 24:35 She was sick for 38 long years, but she reached out, 24:41 she touched the hem of my garment and now she's 24:45 shouting, oh, it is Jesus. 24:47 Oh, it is Jesus, it is Jesus in my soul. 24:52 I have touched the hem of his garment 24:56 and his blood has made me whole. 24:59 I know I'm supposed to be dignified on TV, but I'm going 25:01 to get loose right now. 25:02 There's a man over there. 25:03 That man's been sitting by Jericho's gate. 25:06 He was blind from his birth, but Jesus said, one day 25:11 I was passing by, I restored his sight, 25:14 and now the man is walking and talking about 25:17 amazing grace, how sweet the sound that saved 25:21 a wretch like me. 25:23 I once was lost but now I'm found, was blind 25:31 but now I see. 25:35 You see that woman over there. 25:38 She's from the city of Name. 25:40 She's on her way to bury her son, but I stopped the funeral 25:43 procession, I raised her son and now she sings earth has no 25:47 sorrow that heaven cannot heal. 25:51 You see those folks sitting over in the back section 25:53 over there? 25:54 They're shouting because one day they were hungry 25:57 on the countryside. 25:58 There was no food, but I took two fish, five loaves of bread 26:02 and now they're shouting, little becomes much 26:08 when you place it in the Master's hands. 26:11 You can't make them be quiet. 26:13 I can't make them be quiet. 26:16 Somebody's going to shout sometimes. 26:18 Somebody's going to wave their hands sometimes. 26:22 Somebody's going to say glory sometimes. 26:25 Don't look at folks strange when they get happy. 26:27 Don't look at folks funny when they shout hallelujah. 26:30 You don't know what they've been through. 26:32 You don't know how they've trusted in God. 26:34 You don't know how God has made a way out of no way. 26:38 Hallelujah. Hallelujah. 26:41 Hey, hey, hey, hallelujah. 26:43 Ho, ho, ho. 26:48 Why do I praise him like I do sometimes? 26:49 Why do I wave my hands like I do sometimes? 26:53 You don't know like I know what he's done for me. 26:56 He loosed my shackles and set me free. 27:00 Hallelujah. 27:01 PB: I would like to thank you very much for tuning in to the 27:05 Breath of Life telecast today. 27:06 I do hope that you were blessed by the word 27:10 of God today. 27:11 I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to 27:14 become a partner of the Breath of Life television ministry. 27:18 That's right, you may give a tax deductible donation and 27:20 partner with us as we seek to give hope and peace of mind 27:25 to the dying world in which we live. 27:27 To contact us feel free to give us a call at 27:31 877-BOL-OFFER. 27:35 Again, that's 877-BOL-OFFER. 27:41 Or feel free to write us at the address shown 27:43 on your screen. 27:44 Finally, you can reach us by lging on to our web site at 27:47 www.breathoflife.tv. 27:53 Again, thank you very much for tuning in today and we want to 27:56 thank you in advance for partnering with our ministry. 27:59 May God continue to bless you. 28:02 (Music) PB: But it's only one 28:06 thing to talk about how much you love the Lord, but it's a 28:09 whole other thing to show how much you love the Lord. 28:13 When it's about him you'll be willing to let it go. 28:15 While the ropes may be around our necks, if we want to be 28:21 loosed we can be loosed. 28:24 And here comes Jesus. |
