Great to have you here. 00:03:47.26\00:03:49.02 Thank you. It's good to be here, Billy. 00:03:49.06\00:03:50.39 Good to see you again. Good to see you. 00:03:50.43\00:03:51.79 We have known each other for a long, long time. 00:03:51.83\00:03:54.23 We were what teenagers maybe? 00:03:54.26\00:03:57.33 I was, you were quite a bit older 00:03:57.37\00:03:59.57 if I remember right. 00:03:59.60\00:04:00.94 It's already started. 00:04:00.97\00:04:02.74 This has been going on for 42 years. 00:04:02.77\00:04:06.11 It's good to see you in a tie. 00:04:06.14\00:04:08.24 Thank you. 00:04:08.28\00:04:10.71 I dressed up just for you. 00:04:10.75\00:04:12.08 I appreciate that. 00:04:12.11\00:04:14.62 You when I first knew you was at a music school 00:04:14.65\00:04:19.09 and you came down from Jackson, Michigan... 00:04:19.12\00:04:21.26 I did. 00:04:21.29\00:04:22.72 To be a student at the school 00:04:22.76\00:04:24.23 and thus our friendship started 00:04:24.26\00:04:26.53 and there were so many things that after, 00:04:26.56\00:04:29.46 you know, time went on, you were there so long. 00:04:29.50\00:04:31.53 There were stories that we probably can't tell 00:04:31.57\00:04:34.57 today that... 00:04:34.60\00:04:35.94 Some of them were true. 00:04:35.97\00:04:38.71 I still get blamed for a lot of stuff 00:04:38.74\00:04:40.54 that I have no part of. 00:04:40.58\00:04:41.91 A lot of mischievous things we did as younger fellows 00:04:41.94\00:04:44.55 that were a lot of fun at the time. 00:04:44.58\00:04:46.31 And we probably would scold kids 00:04:46.35\00:04:48.18 if we saw them doing those things today. 00:04:48.22\00:04:49.85 But we've had a lot of great memories. 00:04:49.88\00:04:52.05 You were a kid who wanted to be a writer. 00:04:52.09\00:04:56.19 That's all I ever wanted to do, but it was a call. 00:04:56.22\00:05:00.26 And I see a lot of kids today 00:05:00.30\00:05:02.93 and they're getting out of college, 00:05:02.96\00:05:04.30 some of them and still really don't have 00:05:04.33\00:05:06.03 that one passion that, 00:05:06.07\00:05:07.54 that I'm so thankful 00:05:07.57\00:05:08.90 God put my heart as a little kid 00:05:08.94\00:05:11.34 and I've gotten to do some neat things 00:05:11.37\00:05:13.94 through the years, 00:05:13.98\00:05:15.31 but a lot of people will write a song 00:05:15.34\00:05:17.38 as a means to want to become an artist 00:05:17.41\00:05:19.35 or want to be a producer or wanna... 00:05:19.38\00:05:21.22 And for me, it was the opposite. 00:05:21.25\00:05:22.58 Everything God's let me do along the way. 00:05:22.62\00:05:24.19 It was also that for me, 00:05:24.22\00:05:25.92 so that I could be a better writer 00:05:25.95\00:05:27.92 and I've gotten to learn from some of the best. 00:05:27.96\00:05:29.52 And it's pretty humbling. 00:05:29.56\00:05:32.63 Such great songs through the years. 00:05:32.66\00:05:34.96 Share some of your experiences, if you will, 00:05:35.00\00:05:37.83 about maybe a song that came that you didn't expect 00:05:37.87\00:05:41.44 or a song that... 00:05:41.47\00:05:43.71 I don't know, 00:05:43.74\00:05:45.07 I don't want to put words in your mouth, you... 00:05:45.11\00:05:46.44 No, I love the songs, 00:05:46.47\00:05:48.14 but you know, maybe it's just me, 00:05:48.18\00:05:51.01 but I can tell sometimes I may not be right, 00:05:51.05\00:05:54.22 but in my mind I am. 00:05:54.25\00:05:56.55 When I'm driving down the road and I'm listening to the radio, 00:05:56.58\00:06:00.26 I can tell, 00:06:00.29\00:06:01.62 I think if the song that I'm hearing 00:06:01.66\00:06:03.43 has a story behind it. 00:06:03.46\00:06:06.33 And sometimes I listen to songs 00:06:06.36\00:06:08.46 and I think, well, that may have just been 00:06:08.50\00:06:10.30 from a co-write that was scheduled 00:06:10.33\00:06:12.20 and the older I get, I just try not to be, 00:06:12.23\00:06:15.87 I don't want my name on those songs. 00:06:15.90\00:06:17.24 It's more than just getting a song recorded 00:06:17.27\00:06:19.44 and it's... 00:06:19.47\00:06:21.91 If it doesn't move me enough to block out a day 00:06:21.94\00:06:24.61 or a time to work on it, 00:06:24.65\00:06:26.21 I'm probably, you know, 00:06:26.25\00:06:28.55 that's not gonna be the song I want you to remember of mine. 00:06:28.58\00:06:32.45 And there've been real special moments 00:06:32.49\00:06:34.09 along the way. 00:06:34.12\00:06:35.46 And some of those have been the songs 00:06:35.49\00:06:36.83 that didn't make the charts, 00:06:36.86\00:06:38.29 but it was, it was something that there was a nugget, 00:06:38.33\00:06:40.90 there was something that moved me enough 00:06:40.93\00:06:42.63 to sit down and chase that idea. 00:06:42.66\00:06:45.20 Years ago, I had an idea for a song 00:06:45.23\00:06:47.20 called the first family tree. 00:06:47.24\00:06:49.24 I was gonna write a song 00:06:49.27\00:06:50.61 about the cross being the tree 00:06:50.64\00:06:52.27 that brought us all together. 00:06:52.31\00:06:53.64 And then I just gave that, hook away on TV, 00:06:53.68\00:06:55.84 I realized that. 00:06:55.88\00:06:58.91 I wrote a verse 00:06:58.95\00:07:00.28 and I couldn't figure out where to go with it. 00:07:00.32\00:07:02.08 And I had this verse I felt really good about, 00:07:02.12\00:07:05.75 and I don't write stuff down. 00:07:05.79\00:07:07.56 I figure if it's good enough. I remember it. 00:07:07.59\00:07:09.69 It was 10 years went by. 00:07:09.72\00:07:11.69 I had this verse, nothing, nowhere to go with it. 00:07:11.73\00:07:15.13 And I got called into a meeting 00:07:15.16\00:07:16.50 with Phillips, Craig and Dean. 00:07:16.53\00:07:18.50 Shawn Craig says, 00:07:18.53\00:07:19.87 "Dave, I got this idea for a song, 00:07:19.90\00:07:21.77 but I don't know how to get started with it." 00:07:21.80\00:07:23.34 He said, 00:07:23.37\00:07:24.71 "I picture this little boy. 00:07:24.74\00:07:26.07 And he lived on an Island 00:07:26.11\00:07:27.44 and there was a wall all the way around the Island. 00:07:27.48\00:07:29.08 And one morning the boy wakes up 00:07:29.11\00:07:30.45 and he goes to the edge of the water 00:07:30.48\00:07:31.91 and the wall is gone. 00:07:31.95\00:07:33.55 And he lifts up his hands and he says, 00:07:33.58\00:07:35.92 so this is how it feels to be free." 00:07:35.95\00:07:40.12 He said, "How do you start that?" 00:07:40.16\00:07:43.63 And I said, 00:07:43.66\00:07:44.99 "What about this? 00:07:45.03\00:07:46.36 There's a wall 00:07:46.39\00:07:47.73 that has been standing 00:07:47.76\00:07:49.10 since the day that Adam fell 00:07:49.13\00:07:50.47 and sin is where it started and sin is why it held, 00:07:50.50\00:07:52.03 speaking as a prisoner who was there, 00:07:52.07\00:07:53.50 but lived to tell, I remember how it felt. 00:07:53.54\00:07:55.50 And Shawn just looked at me. 00:07:55.54\00:07:56.87 It was the only time in my life 00:07:56.91\00:07:58.24 somebody thought I was brilliant. 00:07:58.27\00:08:00.24 It was word for word lyric, I started 10 years earlier. 00:08:00.28\00:08:05.55 Wow. So God was... 00:08:05.58\00:08:06.92 God planted something right. 00:08:06.95\00:08:09.38 He was waiting 00:08:09.42\00:08:10.75 until He had something better for that idea. 00:08:10.79\00:08:14.49 Dave, I know that 00:08:14.52\00:08:16.93 there were years 00:08:16.96\00:08:18.29 that you struggled with a physical situation, 00:08:18.33\00:08:21.13 that there didn't seem to be any answer for. 00:08:21.16\00:08:25.70 Would you mind sharing just a little bit about that? 00:08:25.73\00:08:28.77 I don't talk about it a lot 00:08:28.80\00:08:30.47 and yet if you listen to my songs, 00:08:30.51\00:08:32.54 it's all there. 00:08:32.57\00:08:33.91 I drew water from that well, for many, many years. 00:08:33.94\00:08:38.48 Nineteen years I dealt with a throat disease 00:08:38.51\00:08:41.42 that the top layer tissues basically gone. 00:08:41.45\00:08:44.79 And it would be like a canker sore 00:08:44.82\00:08:47.89 or something only was the whole throat. 00:08:47.92\00:08:50.53 And 19 years we'd been to Mayo clinic, 00:08:50.56\00:08:53.40 used to go over a couple of years 00:08:53.43\00:08:54.76 to Vanderbilt, 00:08:54.80\00:08:56.13 I've been to all of the big hospitals. 00:08:56.16\00:08:57.50 And basically they said, you know, 00:08:57.53\00:09:00.04 it's not so rare that we don't know what it is. 00:09:00.07\00:09:04.04 It's just the level of what you experience it 00:09:04.07\00:09:07.18 is what makes it unique. 00:09:07.21\00:09:08.64 And we heard about a medicine in Guatemala. 00:09:08.68\00:09:12.48 We heard about a lady that went there 00:09:12.51\00:09:13.92 and she had something similar. 00:09:13.95\00:09:15.28 And she met with this little doctor 00:09:15.32\00:09:17.45 and took this medicine. 00:09:17.49\00:09:19.95 And within two weeks it was completely gone. 00:09:19.99\00:09:21.96 And so I'm like, I got to know what this is. 00:09:21.99\00:09:25.29 I don't know how to get to Guatemala. 00:09:25.33\00:09:26.83 That's a long drive, it sounds like. 00:09:26.86\00:09:29.63 And that Christmas, a friend of mine, 00:09:29.66\00:09:31.93 a doctor in Ohio called and said 00:09:31.97\00:09:33.74 in March, I've got to go on a mission trip to Guatemala. 00:09:33.77\00:09:38.24 The only doctor I really knew is going to the only place 00:09:38.27\00:09:41.54 that I really needed a doctor to go. 00:09:41.58\00:09:44.21 And so I told him my story 00:09:44.25\00:09:45.58 and he said, well, that makes that's the reason I'm going. 00:09:45.61\00:09:47.38 And I didn't understand it. 00:09:47.42\00:09:48.75 And he got down there 00:09:48.78\00:09:50.32 and all I had was the doctor's name. 00:09:50.35\00:09:53.19 It's a big country. 00:09:53.22\00:09:54.92 Two days later, he called from Guatemala to say that 00:09:54.96\00:09:58.13 he was stationed in the same little village 00:09:58.16\00:09:59.83 with the same little doctor. 00:09:59.86\00:10:02.40 And he said, David, 00:10:02.43\00:10:03.77 what he's describing is not a bush drug, 00:10:03.80\00:10:05.83 but it's combining some things 00:10:05.87\00:10:07.24 that we wouldn't have thought of. 00:10:07.27\00:10:09.20 He said, it might work in two weeks 00:10:09.24\00:10:10.84 and we begin to count to 14. 00:10:10.87\00:10:12.47 And we had a prayer chain of people 00:10:12.51\00:10:14.48 going around the country. 00:10:14.51\00:10:15.84 And 13th day I went on a writing trip 00:10:15.88\00:10:20.42 and there was still no change. 00:10:20.45\00:10:21.78 And by that time, you know, people would quit asking 00:10:21.82\00:10:24.95 and went to Houston, Texas. 00:10:24.99\00:10:30.13 And on that 13th day, 00:10:30.16\00:10:31.76 it was pretty tough 'cause we had... 00:10:31.79\00:10:33.93 We'd put all of our faith into this. 00:10:33.96\00:10:36.13 All right, God, you get this, this and this. 00:10:36.16\00:10:38.33 You got a miracle coming. 00:10:38.37\00:10:41.24 On the 14th day, I woke up 00:10:41.27\00:10:44.37 and the throat tissue was reformed, 00:10:44.41\00:10:47.04 no scars, no, 00:10:47.08\00:10:50.25 it's been 26 years to the day. 00:10:50.28\00:10:54.55 Never had another drop of medicine, 00:10:54.58\00:10:56.48 never dealt with that issue ever again. 00:10:56.52\00:10:58.92 God did it. 00:10:58.95\00:11:00.29 He did it right, did it completely. 00:11:00.32\00:11:02.46 And it's still holding on 00:11:02.49\00:11:04.66 and the writing trip we were on, 00:11:04.69\00:11:07.20 I met a guy 00:11:07.23\00:11:08.56 I'd never met before on that trip. 00:11:08.60\00:11:09.93 And we wrote a song 00:11:09.96\00:11:11.30 that morning of the day that God healed me 00:11:11.33\00:11:12.73 called, will you be the one. 00:11:12.77\00:11:14.84 I was at Al Denson's house. 00:11:14.87\00:11:17.91 I love the stories. 00:11:17.94\00:11:19.74 I love what God does in the songs. 00:11:19.77\00:11:21.78 Yeah. Yeah. 00:11:21.81\00:11:23.71 Dave, there's a song that you've written it. 00:11:23.75\00:11:26.68 I would love for our viewers to hear. 00:11:26.72\00:11:31.79 Your dad was an incredible guy 00:11:31.82\00:11:36.09 and because I've known you 00:11:36.12\00:11:39.33 and been friends with you for so long. 00:11:39.36\00:11:40.83 I had the pleasure of knowing him. 00:11:40.86\00:11:46.43 One of my great memories of you 00:11:46.47\00:11:50.41 is just a couple of years ago 00:11:50.44\00:11:54.08 at one of our concerts, 00:11:54.11\00:11:55.54 Blackwood Brothers concert in Clarksville, Tennessee, 00:11:55.58\00:11:59.31 and you and your dad came up to the concert. 00:11:59.35\00:12:02.95 He was just... 00:12:02.98\00:12:04.32 He was the real deal. 00:12:04.35\00:12:06.55 He really was. 00:12:06.59\00:12:09.16 You know, loved, 00:12:09.19\00:12:14.16 loved the Lord, loved his family 00:12:14.20\00:12:17.00 was so proud of you 00:12:17.03\00:12:20.30 just was absolutely beside himself 00:12:20.34\00:12:24.37 at your success 00:12:24.41\00:12:25.74 in what God had done in your life has done. 00:12:25.77\00:12:27.94 And fortunately for me, just in my, 00:12:27.98\00:12:32.31 I mean, it's not about me, 00:12:32.35\00:12:33.68 but for me it was fortunate 00:12:33.72\00:12:35.52 that I happened not to be on the road 00:12:35.55\00:12:39.15 when your dad passed away. 00:12:39.19\00:12:40.52 And I had the wonderful honor of being at his funeral. 00:12:40.56\00:12:44.19 And I know you have a story and a song about him 00:12:44.23\00:12:49.30 and his old guitar 00:12:49.33\00:12:51.53 that I would love for you to share if you will? 00:12:51.57\00:12:56.30 He was all the things that you said 00:12:56.34\00:12:58.37 and pretty unique relationship that we have 00:12:58.41\00:13:02.98 because they were young when they got married. 00:13:03.01\00:13:04.71 And I was the only boy. 00:13:04.75\00:13:09.22 He and I never had one crossword our entire life. 00:13:09.25\00:13:13.02 And I know how unique that is. 00:13:13.05\00:13:16.09 And I've also experienced that with my son and... 00:13:16.12\00:13:19.13 When you talk, even before this started today, 00:13:24.27\00:13:26.87 about a new normal of getting used to life 00:13:26.90\00:13:28.94 without your hero. 00:13:28.97\00:13:30.31 And he... 00:13:30.34\00:13:34.94 Mom would call 00:13:34.98\00:13:36.31 after dad passed away 00:13:36.34\00:13:37.68 and she'd say, 00:13:37.71\00:13:39.41 Hey, we come get his clothes and we'd take them, 00:13:39.45\00:13:42.95 just give them to somebody. 00:13:42.98\00:13:44.32 And then the next week it would be, 00:13:44.35\00:13:45.85 hey, come get his tools. 00:13:45.89\00:13:47.92 And if we know anybody that can use them, 00:13:47.96\00:13:51.63 and about a month after we lost dad, 00:13:51.66\00:13:53.60 she called and she said, will you come get his guitars? 00:13:53.63\00:13:56.83 He wanted you to have them. 00:13:56.87\00:14:00.80 I wasn't ready for it. 00:14:00.84\00:14:02.37 I didn't want anybody else to have them, 00:14:02.40\00:14:03.81 but I wasn't ready for them. 00:14:03.84\00:14:06.07 And you know, 00:14:06.11\00:14:08.18 Gibson and I brought it today. 00:14:08.21\00:14:14.45 And the song you ask about, I've only done it twice. 00:14:14.48\00:14:17.02 Probably will never do it again after today, 00:14:17.05\00:14:18.92 but would love to share that with you. 00:14:18.95\00:14:22.76 Great. 00:14:22.79\00:14:24.43 Listen as my dear buddy, Dave Clark sings for you 00:14:24.46\00:14:28.33 a very special song, This Old Guitar. 00:14:28.36\00:14:32.00 This old sole guitar 00:14:45.98\00:14:48.15 Back in 1953 00:14:48.18\00:14:50.52 He bought it used When he was only 17 00:14:53.62\00:15:00.60 He didn't have much 00:15:00.63\00:15:01.96 But the good news was $25 was just enough 00:15:02.00\00:15:07.10 So he took it home In the cardboard case 00:15:07.14\00:15:13.01 No one thought he would 00:15:13.04\00:15:16.18 But he learned to play 00:15:16.21\00:15:19.31 This old guitar 00:15:19.35\00:15:20.68 This old guitar 00:15:33.60\00:15:35.76 Can you imagine What he saw 00:15:35.80\00:15:41.27 Down through the years 00:15:41.30\00:15:43.04 From where had leaned Against the wall 00:15:43.07\00:15:48.14 He lived life well, 00:15:48.18\00:15:49.61 But he never stopped Raising his family 00:15:49.64\00:15:52.95 And working three jobs 00:15:52.98\00:15:55.45 But even then, 00:15:55.48\00:15:57.95 He still found a way 00:15:57.99\00:16:01.22 When I was only twelve 00:16:01.26\00:16:04.19 He taught me to play 00:16:04.23\00:16:07.53 This old guitar 00:16:07.56\00:16:09.26 He was proud to be my father 00:16:14.94\00:16:17.77 And I was proud to be his kid 00:16:17.81\00:16:21.71 He'd tell me I look more like him 00:16:21.74\00:16:24.71 The older that I get 00:16:24.75\00:16:28.88 He built the house we lived in 00:16:28.92\00:16:31.95 He drove the family car 00:16:31.99\00:16:36.36 And he taught his children How to sing 00:16:36.39\00:16:40.23 With this old guitar 00:16:40.26\00:16:41.96 This old guitar 00:16:54.74\00:16:56.98 On the night I got the call 00:16:57.01\00:17:02.55 I saw it standing by his chair Against the wall 00:17:02.58\00:17:06.65 I said goodbye, There were no regrets 00:17:10.03\00:17:13.53 Will have forever When I see him next 00:17:13.56\00:17:15.63 But even then, Even though he's gone 00:17:18.87\00:17:24.64 I'm gonna honor him 00:17:24.67\00:17:27.94 With a few more songs 00:17:27.98\00:17:31.41 This old guitar 00:17:31.45\00:17:33.72 Every now and then When I just can't sleep 00:18:02.44\00:18:06.48 I play a song that he taught me 00:18:06.51\00:18:10.42 If you listen close 00:18:10.45\00:18:14.12 You can hear it ring 00:18:14.16\00:18:17.83 Wildwood flower 00:18:17.86\00:18:21.06 on black diamond strings 00:18:21.10\00:18:25.17 In this old guitar 00:18:25.20\00:18:28.00 A phenomenal song. 00:19:02.20\00:19:04.31 What a great story 00:19:04.34\00:19:06.14 to learn more about Dave and his songs and his stories. 00:19:06.17\00:19:09.74 You can find him on the web at daveclarkwrites.com, 00:19:09.78\00:19:15.92 daveclarkwrites.com. 00:19:15.95\00:19:18.12 You told me about a new song and as we close today, 00:19:18.15\00:19:23.53 I mean, you're so great 00:19:23.56\00:19:24.89 at telling the stories behind things 00:19:24.93\00:19:26.29 and how they happen. 00:19:26.33\00:19:27.66 Would you share with our viewers 00:19:27.70\00:19:30.17 about this new song? 00:19:30.20\00:19:31.53 Sure. 00:19:31.57\00:19:33.44 The only arena in the world I'm confident in 00:19:33.47\00:19:36.67 is talking to young writers. 00:19:36.71\00:19:38.17 It's not that I have the answers. 00:19:38.21\00:19:39.54 It's just, there's so many things 00:19:39.57\00:19:40.91 I wish someone had told me 00:19:40.94\00:19:42.28 when I was starting out, that I wanna share with them. 00:19:42.31\00:19:44.21 So I love to teach. 00:19:44.25\00:19:45.91 And last October, 00:19:45.95\00:19:48.38 right up the road here in St. Charles, Missouri, 00:19:48.42\00:19:52.02 I was teaching a class was packed out full of writers. 00:19:52.05\00:19:55.46 And the thing I was trying to get across in that class was 00:19:55.49\00:19:58.69 you gotta quit writing the same song. 00:19:58.73\00:20:00.70 I gotta quit writing the same song. 00:20:00.73\00:20:02.46 If it's not new 00:20:02.50\00:20:04.47 and God's mercies are new every day, 00:20:04.50\00:20:06.10 I want the song ideas to be new as well. 00:20:06.13\00:20:08.97 And my wife years ago heard me teach in the class. 00:20:09.00\00:20:12.74 And she said, you know, you'd be more effective 00:20:12.77\00:20:14.21 if you use notes. 00:20:14.24\00:20:15.58 Well, she's a teacher. 00:20:15.61\00:20:16.95 I'm not a note reader or taker. 00:20:16.98\00:20:19.18 And so, because of what she said 00:20:19.21\00:20:22.12 in the year, since I always have a laptop open, 00:20:22.15\00:20:24.22 as if I'm looking at notes, 00:20:24.25\00:20:26.05 that way everybody wins a little bit. 00:20:26.09\00:20:29.29 So I've got a laptop open. 00:20:29.32\00:20:31.53 I'm just teaching away 00:20:31.56\00:20:32.89 everything I can think of to say 00:20:32.93\00:20:34.53 and the light's not going on. 00:20:34.56\00:20:36.10 I can feel it, it's not, they're not getting it. 00:20:36.13\00:20:39.80 And it had to be a God thing. 00:20:39.83\00:20:41.67 It dawned on me, 00:20:41.70\00:20:43.17 there was a poem or a prayer 00:20:43.20\00:20:46.01 that was credited to Sir Francis Drake 00:20:46.04\00:20:48.11 back in the 1600s 00:20:48.14\00:20:49.81 called "Disturb us Lord." 00:20:49.84\00:20:52.18 And it had lines in it like, 00:20:52.21\00:20:54.88 "Disturb us Lord, if we fail to see the symptom, 00:20:54.92\00:21:00.99 because we're sailed too close to the shore" 00:21:01.02\00:21:02.59 and all about living safe. 00:21:02.62\00:21:05.23 And I had my laptop open. 00:21:05.26\00:21:06.59 So I just Googled it while I'm talking. 00:21:06.63\00:21:08.86 And I start reading it and God came into that room 00:21:08.90\00:21:12.30 and they were crying and I was crying. 00:21:12.33\00:21:14.07 And then I realized, hey, I'm sharing a great idea 00:21:14.10\00:21:16.81 with a room full of writers, 00:21:16.84\00:21:18.51 I need to get away from this. 00:21:18.54\00:21:20.48 So I called, I left there and I called Tony Wood, 00:21:20.51\00:21:22.71 an amazing songwriter. 00:21:22.74\00:21:24.08 I called Tony. 00:21:24.11\00:21:25.45 I said, 00:21:25.48\00:21:26.82 "Hey, here's what happened in this room. 00:21:26.85\00:21:28.18 Go back and read that prayer 00:21:28.22\00:21:29.55 and see if there's anything in there 00:21:29.58\00:21:30.92 that moves you the way it did me." 00:21:30.95\00:21:33.56 He called and said, "This is incredible." 00:21:33.59\00:21:36.26 So we started working on it. 00:21:36.29\00:21:37.63 We wrote called Lee Black in to write music. 00:21:37.66\00:21:40.00 And we got a song called Disturb us Lord. 00:21:40.03\00:21:43.13 And it's our prayer. 00:21:43.16\00:21:44.77 It's of all the songs from the years. 00:21:44.80\00:21:46.90 This is what I, if I had to leave it with one. 00:21:46.94\00:21:50.31 Dave, I love you. 00:21:50.34\00:21:54.08 Appreciate your friendship. 00:21:54.11\00:21:55.54 Thank you, Billy. 00:21:55.58\00:21:57.81 And just celebrate what God has done through you. 00:21:57.85\00:22:03.59 There are, we won't know till we, 00:22:03.62\00:22:07.02 you know, get to heaven. 00:22:07.06\00:22:08.66 How many people are there 00:22:08.69\00:22:10.06 because a lyric 00:22:10.09\00:22:12.93 that came through your pen went to paper 00:22:12.96\00:22:16.46 and changed somebody's heart. 00:22:16.50\00:22:19.03 And I know that I know you well enough to know that 00:22:19.07\00:22:23.10 heart is what you're about. 00:22:23.14\00:22:25.11 And one of the reasons I love you. 00:22:25.14\00:22:27.24 And one of the reasons I'm so thankful to have you 00:22:27.28\00:22:28.94 as a friend and to have you here today. 00:22:28.98\00:22:30.61 And I know, you know, you may be watching 00:22:30.65\00:22:33.65 and I don't know if you have a friend like Dave, 00:22:33.68\00:22:37.09 I hope you do. 00:22:37.12\00:22:38.45 I hope you have a group of people, 00:22:38.49\00:22:40.39 at least one 00:22:40.42\00:22:42.26 that you can walk through life with 00:22:42.29\00:22:44.89 and celebrate the Lord with. 00:22:44.93\00:22:47.03 But let me just share today. 00:22:47.06\00:22:50.10 If you don't, there is someone, 00:22:50.13\00:22:53.37 the word says that 00:22:53.40\00:22:54.74 He is a friend 00:22:54.77\00:22:56.10 who sticks closer than a brother. 00:22:56.14\00:22:57.47 Jesus is the best friend you'll ever have. 00:23:00.58\00:23:03.55 He's the most exciting person you'll ever meet, 00:23:03.58\00:23:06.58 and He's the only savior you'll ever need. 00:23:06.61\00:23:09.08 And I'm just here to tell you 00:23:09.12\00:23:10.45 nothing holds a candle to Jesus Christ. 00:23:10.49\00:23:14.79 God bless you. 00:23:14.82\00:23:16.16 Thank you so much for watching today. 00:23:16.19\00:23:17.53 I'm sure He must have been surprised 00:23:26.53\00:23:33.48 At where this Road had taken him 00:23:33.51\00:23:40.32 Cause never in a million lives 00:23:40.35\00:23:47.26 Would he have dreamed Of Bethlehem 00:23:47.29\00:23:50.86 And standing at the manger 00:23:55.33\00:23:59.80 He saw with his own eyes 00:23:59.83\00:24:04.47 The message from the angel 00:24:04.51\00:24:08.54 Come to life, 00:24:08.58\00:24:11.98 And Joseph said Why me, 00:24:12.01\00:24:16.95 I'm just a simple man of trade 00:24:16.99\00:24:22.26 Why Him, 00:24:22.29\00:24:24.66 with all the rulers In the world 00:24:24.69\00:24:31.63 Why here, 00:24:31.67\00:24:35.27 Inside this stable Filled with hay 00:24:35.30\00:24:40.71 Why her, 00:24:40.74\00:24:42.91 She's just an ordinary girl 00:24:42.94\00:24:46.55 Now I'm not one to second guess 00:24:50.19\00:24:55.79 What angels have to say 00:24:55.82\00:25:00.96 But this is such a strange way 00:25:01.00\00:25:05.47 To save the world 00:25:05.50\00:25:07.64 To think Of how it could have been 00:25:14.84\00:25:21.58 If Jesus had come As He deserved 00:25:21.62\00:25:28.52 There would have been No Bethlehem 00:25:28.56\00:25:35.50 No lowly shepherds 00:25:35.53\00:25:38.30 At His birth 00:25:38.33\00:25:43.51 But Joseph knew the reason 00:25:43.54\00:25:47.71 Love had to reach so far 00:25:47.74\00:25:52.71 And as he held the Savior 00:25:52.75\00:25:56.79 In his arms 00:25:56.82\00:26:00.19 He must have thought Why me, 00:26:00.22\00:26:05.13 I'm just a simple man of trade 00:26:05.16\00:26:10.53 Why Him, 00:26:10.57\00:26:12.90 With all the rulers In the world 00:26:12.93\00:26:19.74 Why here, 00:26:19.77\00:26:23.55 Inside this stable Filled with hay 00:26:23.58\00:26:28.95 Why her, 00:26:28.98\00:26:31.49 She's just an ordinary girl 00:26:31.52\00:26:34.66 And now I'm not one To second guess 00:26:38.16\00:26:43.47 What angels have to say 00:26:43.50\00:26:49.17 But this is such a strange way 00:26:49.20\00:26:53.74 To save the world 00:26:53.78\00:26:58.98 And now I'm not one To second guess 00:26:59.01\00:27:04.05 What angels have to say 00:27:04.09\00:27:06.79 This is such a strange way 00:27:10.39\00:27:15.23 Such a strange way 00:27:15.26\00:27:21.47 To save the world 00:27:21.50\00:27:24.34 This is such a strange way 00:27:30.88\00:27:35.45 To save the world 00:27:35.48\00:27:40.26
