I've got in my hand here a bottle of glass cleaner, 00:00:27.82\00:00:32.43 something that people use to wash their windows, 00:00:32.46\00:00:35.16 their mirrors, their wind- shields, and other 00:00:35.20\00:00:37.27 glass surfaces and when I turn it over and look at the bottom, 00:00:37.30\00:00:42.37 here it says CAUTION, Contents Under Pressure. 00:00:42.40\00:00:46.68 And we know that pressure is there because we can 00:00:46.71\00:00:49.51 take the lid off and push the button and shhh! 00:00:49.54\00:00:51.65 the cleaner comes out. 00:00:51.68\00:00:54.35 Welcome to Body Battles part 6 and our title is called 00:00:54.38\00:00:59.75 "Contents Under Pressure." 00:00:59.79\00:01:01.32 Reading that just reminds me of the pressure that 00:01:01.36\00:01:05.29 so many of us are under on the inside. 00:01:05.33\00:01:08.46 Blood pressure, and stress and strain, so we're going to 00:01:08.50\00:01:13.03 talk about that and how to relieve that pressure. 00:01:13.07\00:01:16.84 My guest again is Jack McIntosh, he's been with me 00:01:16.87\00:01:20.88 for five programs and this is number six, we've got two more 00:01:20.91\00:01:23.28 to go and we're talking all about health and what we can do 00:01:23.31\00:01:28.15 to help our bodies in the midst of the war that we're in with 00:01:28.18\00:01:32.25 destructive forces and destructive habits 00:01:32.29\00:01:35.42 that are trying to bring us down to an early grave. 00:01:35.46\00:01:39.46 So Jack, thank you again for coming up from Oregon 00:01:39.49\00:01:43.47 with your wife Mary being up here for a few days with us 00:01:43.50\00:01:46.57 in the beautiful forest of Priest River, ID. 00:01:46.60\00:01:49.67 Yes indeed. Yes, it's a blessing to have you 00:01:49.70\00:01:52.51 and as we get started, I'd like to read a text. 00:01:52.54\00:01:54.18 I always like to start a program with a Bible verse 00:01:54.21\00:01:58.08 and this is Psalm 23, one of my favorite Psalms. 00:01:58.11\00:02:01.92 David wrote and said the Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want 00:02:01.95\00:02:06.96 He makes me to lie down in green pastures, 00:02:06.99\00:02:11.26 He leads me beside the still waters, or the quiet waters, 00:02:11.29\00:02:16.36 He restores my soul, He leads me in the paths 00:02:16.40\00:02:21.00 of righteousness for His name sake. 00:02:21.04\00:02:23.71 I can't tell you how many times I lay in bed at night, 00:02:23.74\00:02:27.94 If I'm awake, I will just go through this Psalm in my mind 00:02:27.98\00:02:32.81 because it's just so calming. It just, it relieves pressure 00:02:32.85\00:02:37.55 thinking about lying down in green pastures and the 00:02:37.59\00:02:43.56 still waters and here's one more verse. 00:02:43.59\00:02:45.19 I like this one too, Psalm 37:7. 00:02:45.23\00:02:48.36 Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him. 00:02:48.40\00:02:53.27 God wants us to be at rest, He wants us to be at peace, 00:02:53.30\00:02:56.71 He doesn't want us to be like this glass cleaner can. 00:02:56.74\00:03:00.84 Contents Under Pressure. Yeah. 00:03:00.88\00:03:02.21 Contents under pressure. 00:03:02.24\00:03:03.85 So talk to us about pressure, blood pressure and the battle 00:03:03.88\00:03:08.38 and how people can bring down those numbers. 00:03:08.42\00:03:12.85 Yes, alright, so, we are going to talk about hypertension 00:03:12.89\00:03:16.26 today. Hyper meaning too much, tension, of course, that's 00:03:16.29\00:03:21.10 the pressure in the interior lines, the vascular system. 00:03:21.13\00:03:25.70 So, we're going to talk to you about that. 00:03:25.73\00:03:28.17 What is hypertension? Well most often in America 00:03:28.20\00:03:34.31 hypertension is caused by the vascular system becoming 00:03:34.34\00:03:42.08 gradually occluded or blocked by substances on the inside 00:03:42.12\00:03:49.42 lining of the artery and as it becomes... 00:03:49.46\00:03:52.83 As the artery narrows and narrows and narrows, 00:03:52.86\00:03:56.16 the body compensates for that narrowing because it 00:03:56.20\00:04:02.04 wants to deliver nutrients and oxygen in the proper 00:04:02.07\00:04:06.27 proportions...To all the cells. To all the cells that need it 00:04:06.31\00:04:09.84 and so in order to compensate for the narrowing, 00:04:09.88\00:04:13.52 now you are getting less of those nutrients and oxygen. 00:04:13.55\00:04:16.02 Right! So the body compensates by increasing the pressure 00:04:16.05\00:04:20.42 in the line, so to speak, the artery...Like the plumbing, 00:04:20.46\00:04:23.96 like the body's plumbing... to bring all the blood to all 00:04:23.99\00:04:26.96 the cells and when they get clogged, they just start 00:04:27.00\00:04:30.53 narrowing and then the heart has to pump harder. 00:04:30.57\00:04:32.67 To compensate for the narrowing and so we get 00:04:32.70\00:04:37.11 high blood pressure. Now the problem of course with 00:04:37.14\00:04:39.77 high blood pressure is that it can result in a heart attack 00:04:39.81\00:04:43.35 and it can result in a stroke. 00:04:43.38\00:04:44.75 So for that reason, we want to be able to properly manage 00:04:44.78\00:04:50.99 hypertension and reduce it. Now in order for us to 00:04:51.02\00:04:56.83 get to the root of the problem we really have to get to the 00:04:56.86\00:05:00.20 reason why the arteries are being blocked, right, 00:05:00.23\00:05:03.60 and very often that is a problem of the diet where we're eating 00:05:03.63\00:05:07.50 lots of animal products, oxidized cholesterol, 00:05:07.54\00:05:11.77 damaging the arteries and of course laying down for that 00:05:11.81\00:05:19.01 injury, compensating for the injury laying down a hard cover 00:05:19.05\00:05:23.39 over that injury and the artery gradually getting smaller. 00:05:23.42\00:05:28.62 So the arteries get damaged like in the last program 00:05:28.66\00:05:31.19 we talked about the sugar... Too much sugar attached to the 00:05:31.23\00:05:34.46 hemoglobin, it somehow damages the arteries and if there is 00:05:34.50\00:05:38.83 then the body plugs up the holes with plaque, right? Yes! 00:05:38.87\00:05:44.71 Now the body has a natural substance that controls 00:05:44.74\00:05:53.52 the opening of the arteries... Arteries are not just 00:05:53.55\00:05:58.49 pipes, they have muscles around them that can reduce the 00:05:58.52\00:06:04.09 opening, or it can dilate and enlarge the opening. 00:06:04.13\00:06:09.56 And the substance that our creator has provided in the body 00:06:09.60\00:06:15.50 to dilate the arteries and open them up, because when you open 00:06:15.54\00:06:19.67 the artery, what happens to the pressure in the line? 00:06:19.71\00:06:22.31 The pressure goes down and the heart doesn't have to pump 00:06:22.34\00:06:24.61 as hard. Right? When we reduce the opening, 00:06:24.65\00:06:31.72 the pressure goes up. 00:06:31.75\00:06:33.69 It turns out that there is a substance that our creator has 00:06:33.72\00:06:37.56 placed in the human body called nitric oxide and nitric oxide 00:06:37.59\00:06:42.33 is an arterial dilator, it dilates and opens up the 00:06:42.36\00:06:46.13 arteries, blood pressure comes down. 00:06:46.17\00:06:49.37 Sometimes because of our dietary habits or lack of physical 00:06:49.40\00:06:54.71 activity, the sweet drinks that we are drinking, 00:06:54.74\00:06:57.68 and just all those lifestyle habits were not producing 00:06:57.71\00:07:02.58 enough nitric oxide to dilate those arteries and open them up. 00:07:02.62\00:07:06.86 So can I just go to Walmart or to Ralph's and buy a 00:07:06.89\00:07:10.86 bottle of nitric oxide and drink it and it will open up my 00:07:10.89\00:07:14.83 blood vessels and bring my blood pressure down... 00:07:14.86\00:07:17.70 Not quite. Solve my heart problems. 00:07:17.73\00:07:20.10 Not so much. 00:07:20.14\00:07:21.47 So what we have to do is stimulate nitric oxide 00:07:21.50\00:07:25.94 in the way the creator intended for us to stimulate nitric 00:07:25.97\00:07:30.71 oxide. One of the most powerful stimulators of nitric oxide 00:07:30.75\00:07:36.28 is you guessed...Physical activity. 00:07:36.32\00:07:39.15 I knew that was coming. I knew it, so we got to keep... 00:07:39.19\00:07:44.33 So when the body moves, like we talked about in the last program 00:07:44.36\00:07:47.26 that only creates more insulin receptors right, 00:07:47.30\00:07:50.77 where the insulin can get the blood sugar into the cells 00:07:50.80\00:07:54.30 quicker because now the muscles need it but the cells also 00:07:54.34\00:07:58.54 create nitric oxide as well. Yeah. 00:07:58.57\00:08:01.18 I'll tell you a little story, I was at a nurse's symposium 00:08:01.21\00:08:08.88 in Chicago and the company that I was with, 00:08:08.92\00:08:14.92 we have software for Managing Wellness programs 00:08:14.96\00:08:18.99 and so we were there to talk about our software 00:08:19.03\00:08:22.96 and various physicians, they have lectures and the nurses 00:08:23.00\00:08:27.34 go to these lectures and they learn all about the new science. 00:08:27.37\00:08:30.04 Well, my friend Bob and I were going by one of those 00:08:30.07\00:08:34.21 lecture halls, we looked in and there was a physician 00:08:34.24\00:08:39.51 from Stanford University, Dr. Cook who was lecturing 00:08:39.55\00:08:45.32 and one of the things he was talking about was nitric oxide 00:08:45.35\00:08:49.32 and he was talking about how... he had a slide on the screen 00:08:49.36\00:08:54.46 where it showed the cells, the endothelium cells. 00:08:54.50\00:08:59.13 The lining of the artery, they produce the nitric oxide 00:08:59.17\00:09:03.20 the very thin lining of the artery. And he was showing 00:09:03.24\00:09:07.61 the artery, the endothelium of an inactive person 00:09:07.64\00:09:12.15 and you could see the cells and they were all jumbled up 00:09:12.18\00:09:15.45 and disarranged and not very orderly if you will. 00:09:15.48\00:09:21.62 And then they put that same person on an exercise program 00:09:21.66\00:09:26.26 and now when you looked at the slide on the right 00:09:26.29\00:09:30.13 the picture on the right showed the cells and very different. 00:09:30.17\00:09:34.07 They're all lined up and producing nitric oxide. 00:09:34.10\00:09:37.87 And dilating the artery and of course the blood pressure 00:09:37.91\00:09:42.81 comes down, so that to me was a very strong visual impression 00:09:42.84\00:09:47.42 that physical activity causes those endothelial cells 00:09:47.45\00:09:52.19 to line up, yes sir, and they start producing nitric oxide. 00:09:52.22\00:09:56.16 It impresses me that we need to line up as we talked about 00:09:56.19\00:10:00.60 in this series with our Creators plan. That's why we're reading 00:10:00.63\00:10:03.87 the Bible, we went back to Genesis, we talked about 00:10:04.17\00:10:06.43 how God made us to develop... to reveal His character. 00:10:06.47\00:10:09.90 How He put man in the garden, He gave him good healthy food 00:10:09.94\00:10:13.71 from the soil, the Eden Diet, he said in the sweat of your 00:10:13.74\00:10:17.05 face you will exercise to help to balance out your life within 00:10:17.08\00:10:21.95 the midst of sin now that sin has come in so lining up 00:10:21.98\00:10:26.02 with the creator and with the plan that's what will help us 00:10:26.05\00:10:31.86 with the battles of the body. 00:10:31.89\00:10:33.66 Absolutely. Right. Absolutely. So we have to cooperate with 00:10:33.70\00:10:38.23 our creator and becoming physically active to produce 00:10:38.27\00:10:43.04 that nitric oxide that's going to dilate and open those 00:10:43.07\00:10:46.07 arteries and bring down that blood pressure. 00:10:46.11\00:10:48.04 Now, let's talk about how nitric oxide is produced 00:10:48.08\00:10:52.21 because it's not just exercise something else has to be in the 00:10:52.25\00:10:57.35 mix and you guessed it, it's the dietary. Alright, okay. 00:10:57.39\00:11:02.06 It will come right back to the Eden Diet. 00:11:02.09\00:11:04.43 Now remember when the Lord said to Adam and gave him 00:11:04.46\00:11:07.93 his diet in the beginning and he said...talked about 00:11:07.96\00:11:11.00 seed-bearing plants so you don't eat seeds, do you? 00:11:11.03\00:11:15.94 I do, I sprout them. Laughter. I sprout my seeds, 00:11:15.97\00:11:18.77 I'm a big sprouter, the whole core is teaching how to sprout. 00:11:18.81\00:11:22.44 Alright. It's called Sprouting with Steve, 00:11:22.48\00:11:24.25 sproutingwithsteve.com. Alright well, that's one kind of seed, 00:11:24.28\00:11:27.48 but there are thousands of 00:11:27.52\00:11:29.95 varieties of seeds in the world that our creator has given us 00:11:29.98\00:11:34.89 and it just so happens that some of those seeds we called 00:11:34.92\00:11:39.46 legumes. Because Black Beans and Garbanzo's and Lentils 00:11:39.49\00:11:45.00 and all of those...I had just sprouted legumes today. 00:11:45.03\00:11:47.94 Lentils, I grew my Lentils in two days and put them on my 00:11:47.97\00:11:50.61 salad. Yeah as you spread seeds. So when we eat those seeds, 00:11:50.64\00:11:55.38 we get some raw materials and it just so happens that one of 00:11:55.41\00:12:00.95 the raw materials that you need absolutely need to make nitric 00:12:00.98\00:12:05.39 oxide, to dilate your arteries and bring down your 00:12:05.42\00:12:07.72 blood pressure. One of those raw materials that you need 00:12:07.76\00:12:11.56 is something you call L- Arginine, L-Arginine is 00:12:11.59\00:12:16.46 abundant in Lentils, and Garbanzo's and Pinto beans 00:12:16.50\00:12:25.34 and all those seeds if you will that it talks about in Genesis 00:12:25.37\00:12:30.55 those legumes are abundant...So if you are not getting enough 00:12:30.58\00:12:36.69 and almost non-existent in the animal-based diet. 00:12:36.72\00:12:43.02 Wo if you are eating a lot of meat and fish and chicken 00:12:43.06\00:12:48.20 and all of that and you are not getting those legumes 00:12:48.23\00:12:51.77 you don't have the raw materials to make sufficient quantities 00:12:51.80\00:12:57.07 of nitric oxide... 00:12:57.11\00:12:58.44 To dilate your blood vessels and to bring down your 00:12:58.47\00:13:04.41 blood pressure. So you've got to have the raw materials 00:13:04.45\00:13:07.68 L- Arginine is the protein, the raw material that you need 00:13:07.72\00:13:12.42 to make nitric oxide, just like when you want to make water 00:13:12.45\00:13:18.19 and you have only hydrogen, are you going to make water? 00:13:18.23\00:13:20.96 No, you have to have oxygen and the same way the body 00:13:21.00\00:13:25.23 needs to have L-Arginine to make nitric oxide, if you don't have 00:13:25.27\00:13:28.74 it, you're not going to make nitric oxide. Is L Arginine 00:13:28.77\00:13:30.84 in like sunflower seeds? Yes. Chia seeds. All those seeds. 00:13:30.87\00:13:35.04 And just a whole lot of seeds people, you can... 00:13:35.08\00:13:37.81 Like I know how to grill lentils, I take lentils, you can 00:13:37.85\00:13:41.52 buy lentils at the market for a dollar and you can put them 00:13:41.55\00:13:44.49 in a jar and you can fill the jar up with water 00:13:44.52\00:13:48.52 and soak the seeds for four or five hours and then 00:13:48.56\00:13:53.06 pour the water out and the lentils will have doubled 00:13:53.09\00:13:56.36 in size because now they are becoming active and then 00:13:56.40\00:13:57.73 the next couple of days you just put some water in and rinse it. 00:13:57.77\00:14:02.27 you just rinse them twice a day and within two days 00:14:02.30\00:14:04.91 will grow up to the top of the jar and you'll have lentil 00:14:04.94\00:14:09.24 sprouts. Which I imagine they even more L... 00:14:09.28\00:14:13.05 what's it called? L-Arginine, L- Arginine so and then you 00:14:13.08\00:14:16.65 just put the sprouts on the salad or you cook the lentils 00:14:16.69\00:14:18.95 or you eat other seeds... 00:14:18.99\00:14:20.66 Yeah. And so that's the magic key. 00:14:20.69\00:14:23.93 Sure. To lowering the blood- pressure. Sure that's the raw 00:14:23.96\00:14:25.79 material, yes, that's the raw material. 00:14:25.83\00:14:27.73 So the combination of physical activity and the raw material, 00:14:27.76\00:14:32.50 one thing again potentiates the other makes it more powerful 00:14:32.53\00:14:37.11 and the result is that you have now raw material 00:14:37.14\00:14:41.84 and physical activity that's helping to produce the 00:14:41.88\00:14:45.95 nitric oxide to bring down the blood pressure. 00:14:45.98\00:14:49.48 So it seems a little bit like with diabetes and a diabesity 00:14:49.52\00:14:54.46 like you mentioned when the blood sugar goes up 00:14:54.49\00:14:56.32 because we're not exercising enough and a lot of times 00:14:56.36\00:14:59.33 people just turn to medication to try to bring it down 00:14:59.36\00:15:03.26 but it's not really dealing with the cause. 00:15:03.30\00:15:04.83 That's not dealing with the root issue. 00:15:04.87\00:15:06.84 The same thing is true with high-blood-pressure too 00:15:06.87\00:15:09.87 in many cases or most cases, maybe not be in every case, 00:15:09.90\00:15:13.54 but in most cases the medication is not, it's just dealing with 00:15:13.58\00:15:18.85 they symptom, right, as where if we start dealing with 00:15:18.88\00:15:21.48 the roots and if we start exercising more and eating 00:15:21.52\00:15:23.99 more whole natural foods especially the seeds then 00:15:24.02\00:15:27.19 we can bring down that blood pressure without the 00:15:27.22\00:15:31.06 medication. Now we need to cover one other thing here 00:15:31.09\00:15:34.66 and that is there is something out there that will actually 00:15:34.70\00:15:41.10 shut down your nitric oxide production even if you have 00:15:41.14\00:15:45.07 the L-Arginine and you are somewhat physically active 00:15:45.11\00:15:49.64 there is something that will actually depress nitric oxide 00:15:49.68\00:15:54.38 production. And what do you think it is? 00:15:54.42\00:15:57.42 Take a guess, a wild guess. Sugar? 00:15:57.45\00:16:00.52 Laughter? You're on it. What kind of sugar? 00:16:00.56\00:16:04.26 High fructose corn syrup. You've got it. Am I right? 00:16:04.29\00:16:08.13 You are right, you got it. It's high fructose corn syrup. 00:16:08.16\00:16:11.73 Here's what happens when we drink those sweet drinks 00:16:11.77\00:16:15.04 that are so high in high fructose corn syrup. 00:16:15.07\00:16:19.84 The high fructose corn syrup produces something called 00:16:19.87\00:16:24.51 uric acid and uric acid depresses nitric oxide 00:16:24.55\00:16:29.75 production. So one of the drivers of hypertension 00:16:29.78\00:16:33.15 in America are those sweet drinks, those high fructose 00:16:33.19\00:16:37.19 corn syrup drinks, your blood - pressure will go up over time 00:16:37.23\00:16:40.73 if you're drinking that and shutting down your nitric oxide 00:16:40.76\00:16:44.60 production to dilate your arteries. 00:16:44.63\00:16:46.57 This is a huge problem in America and this is one of the 00:16:46.60\00:16:50.84 reasons why 50+ million people have hypertension, 00:16:50.87\00:16:54.94 high blood-pressure because they are depressing 00:16:54.98\00:16:59.68 their nitric oxide production through this uric acid 00:16:59.71\00:17:03.28 lever if you will and the result is the blood-pressure 00:17:03.32\00:17:07.82 is rising. It turns out also, that that high fructose 00:17:07.86\00:17:12.69 corn syrup not only depresses your nitric oxide but it causes 00:17:12.73\00:17:16.77 a very dangerous fraction of LDL cholesterol called 00:17:16.80\00:17:24.11 LDL B, a very small dense LDL cholesterol, bad cholesterol. 00:17:24.14\00:17:30.88 That dense cholesterol can get under the endothelium 00:17:30.91\00:17:34.45 into the artery and damage the arteries. 00:17:34.48\00:17:37.35 It turns out high fructose corn syrup stimulates 00:17:37.39\00:17:41.46 that LDL B production in the bloodstream. 00:17:41.49\00:17:47.00 So, it not only drives hyper- tension, it drives arterial 00:17:47.03\00:17:50.77 disease, fructose in the diet. Am I wrong, I think I've heard 00:17:50.80\00:17:58.34 that a high meat diet is also going to create...Oh yeah, 00:17:58.37\00:18:01.64 it has that LDL B...Uric acid, is that what it is? 00:18:01.68\00:18:05.21 Well, the LDL B cholesterol is the dangerous one. 00:18:05.25\00:18:08.25 You have two kinds of LDL, there's the larger one called 00:18:08.28\00:18:10.85 A, it's kind of fluffy and relatively harmless, 00:18:10.89\00:18:13.89 it doesn't do any real damage but that dense B fraction 00:18:13.92\00:18:19.43 of LDL cholesterol is the one that can get under your 00:18:19.46\00:18:23.87 endothelium, the lining of the artery, and go to the inside 00:18:23.90\00:18:27.04 and do damage. So that is the one that is increased by 00:18:27.07\00:18:32.41 high fructose corn syrup. 00:18:32.44\00:18:33.78 So we have to be careful that we are not depressing 00:18:33.81\00:18:38.25 our nitric oxide production and we're not driving heart 00:18:38.28\00:18:42.42 disease by drinking those sweet drinks with high fructose 00:18:42.45\00:18:45.62 corn syrup. And you know a little bit of history might 00:18:45.65\00:18:48.19 be appropriate here. In 1982 the government basically 00:18:48.22\00:18:52.33 told us, cut the fat in the diet, so Americans cut the fat. 00:18:52.36\00:18:55.76 But what they did to compensate was they started drinking 00:18:55.80\00:18:59.97 more sweet drinks. Sugar went up in the diet dramatically 00:19:00.00\00:19:04.37 and so we started adding it to everything from barbeque 00:19:04.41\00:19:10.38 sauce to Gatorade and so the sugar consumption went 00:19:10.41\00:19:14.12 right through the roof. 00:19:14.15\00:19:15.62 And so that super consumption, you know we supersize 00:19:15.65\00:19:22.69 everything today. When Coca Cola first came out 00:19:22.72\00:19:28.50 on the market, it was a small something like what? 00:19:28.53\00:19:31.60 Eleven ounces or something like that or I think it may have 00:19:31.63\00:19:35.30 been even less than that and now it's these big 64 Oz 00:19:35.34\00:19:39.24 things out there that people are drinking. 00:19:39.27\00:19:41.44 and creating this trouble in the human body so... 00:19:41.48\00:19:45.95 And those drinks are addicting aren't they? 00:19:45.98\00:19:48.52 Yes, they are, they're addicting. 00:19:48.55\00:19:50.09 Don't you...I think that the companies that make them 00:19:50.12\00:19:52.59 they know that. Well, I'll tell you what they do, 00:19:52.62\00:19:56.29 in the colas especially, they... Now this is interesting 00:19:56.32\00:20:02.16 they put salt in the cola. Now why would you put salt 00:20:02.23\00:20:06.40 in a cola drink? To make you more thirsty to drink cola. 00:20:06.43\00:20:10.61 Uh ha. You got it. 00:20:10.64\00:20:12.54 So you drink that whatever it is coke, Pepsi, whatever 00:20:12.57\00:20:17.81 the brand is and instead of drinking water but an hour later 00:20:17.85\00:20:24.02 that sugar, not sugar. That salt makes you thirsty 00:20:24.05\00:20:27.66 and so what happens? You want another one 00:20:27.69\00:20:29.82 and you drink another one. And that's what's happening 00:20:29.86\00:20:32.59 now you're going down and down over and over and over 00:20:32.63\00:20:36.13 until you really start to impact the body. 00:20:36.16\00:20:38.53 Shut down the nitric oxide or severely limit your nitric oxide 00:20:38.57\00:20:44.94 production driving that LDL B cholesterol that produces 00:20:44.97\00:20:49.21 heart disease and all that and we're in for real trouble 00:20:49.24\00:20:53.78 later on. Yeah, you know the Bible also talks about 00:20:53.82\00:20:56.58 it talks about many things but it tells us that we're in a... 00:20:56.62\00:21:00.39 It looks at the big picture and says we are in a... 00:21:00.42\00:21:01.89 we're in a battle, we're in a conflict between good and evil. 00:21:01.92\00:21:05.59 And there are forces that are working behind the scenes 00:21:05.63\00:21:09.60 to promote a diet and drinks and practices that are harmful 00:21:09.63\00:21:18.41 to our bodies. We're not lining up with the Creator's plan 00:21:18.54\00:21:23.95 there are forces that are trying to derail us, 00:21:23.98\00:21:26.38 to get us off track so that we slowly destroy ourselves. 00:21:26.41\00:21:31.59 And God is trying to bring us back like Psalm 23 says 00:21:31.62\00:21:37.46 which I read at the beginning where David said. 00:21:37.49\00:21:40.80 So He's, God's power is restorative, His word is 00:21:50.51\00:21:55.04 restorative when we pray and we ask for His presence and 00:21:55.08\00:21:59.31 His help, He works to restore us and then it says. 00:21:59.35\00:22:02.38 "He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His namesake. 00:22:02.42\00:22:05.75 He leads us on the path to do what is right and the benefits 00:22:05.79\00:22:10.53 of right-doing, we reap those benefits in our bodies. 00:22:10.56\00:22:15.16 And we overcome these problems that are there. 00:22:15.20\00:22:18.20 You know the prophet, Isaiah said why do spend money 00:22:18.23\00:22:20.70 for that which is not bread? Eat that which is good. 00:22:20.74\00:22:23.64 We need to do that, pay attention to that advice, 00:22:23.67\00:22:28.21 eat that which is good. 00:22:28.24\00:22:29.58 In Romans 12 it says "do not be overcome by evil." 00:22:29.61\00:22:38.05 We look at the dietary practices out there, the inactivity, 00:22:38.09\00:22:41.46 those are all the things that amount to evil that affect us 00:22:41.49\00:22:46.46 It says, "But overcome evil with good." 00:22:46.49\00:22:50.77 In other words as a Lifestyle Interventionist, 00:22:50.80\00:22:53.34 what I teach people to do is to put a good habit in place 00:22:53.37\00:22:58.07 of a bad habit. Now if you just stop the bad habit 00:22:58.11\00:23:01.68 guess what happens? 00:23:01.71\00:23:03.35 Seven more bad habits come in. You know that story to replace 00:23:03.38\00:23:08.62 the bad with the good. So you have to put the good in place of 00:23:08.65\00:23:12.19 the bad, that's the great principle of substitution 00:23:12.22\00:23:15.86 overcome evil with good. 00:23:15.89\00:23:19.16 And isn't it true as we make decisions step by step 00:23:19.19\00:23:23.10 and move the body even if it is just taking one walk. 00:23:23.13\00:23:26.47 Yes. And maybe then we'll take two walks...Right. 00:23:26.50\00:23:29.87 And we'll walk again the third time and we'll eat 00:23:29.90\00:23:33.27 an apple instead of an apple candy and we'll drink water 00:23:33.31\00:23:37.41 instead of the Coke and if we just start making these 00:23:37.45\00:23:40.68 decisions one by one by one, step by step as the famous 00:23:40.72\00:23:45.05 Chinese Proverb says the journey of a thousand miles 00:23:45.09\00:23:48.56 begins with a single step, then we're training our brain 00:23:48.59\00:23:51.93 right, we're developing new patterns to help us 00:23:51.96\00:23:55.50 to step by step by step improve our health and everything else. 00:23:55.53\00:24:01.30 Yeah, the average person out there who's not accustomed to 00:24:01.34\00:24:05.71 walking, they may be intimidated by me when I say 00:24:05.74\00:24:09.98 30 minutes twice a day. Listen, when I counsel people 00:24:10.01\00:24:13.18 I tell them this, I don't care if you can't walk an hour 00:24:13.21\00:24:17.45 I am not concerned with that. Or even thirty minutes 00:24:17.49\00:24:19.95 I want you to just start, can you walk five minutes? 00:24:19.99\00:24:24.26 Uh, yeah, I can walk, that's where you start. 00:24:24.29\00:24:27.30 Five minutes, but I want you in two or three days to 00:24:27.33\00:24:31.10 go up by one or two minutes because your body's tolerance 00:24:31.13\00:24:35.54 for exercise is going to increase as you do it every day. 00:24:35.57\00:24:39.11 So the first day they go out five minutes and they come back 00:24:39.14\00:24:42.44 and, I'm so tired, I can't, the next day we do 00:24:42.48\00:24:45.81 the same, the next day we do the same, but by the third 00:24:45.85\00:24:47.98 or the fourth day now, you know, I'm not quite so winded anymore 00:24:48.02\00:24:51.99 so now we go up by a minute, two minutes, and you do that 00:24:52.05\00:24:56.02 until you get up to 30 minutes then you stop. 00:24:56.06\00:24:58.19 Now you go for 30 minutes twice a day and so we start 00:24:58.23\00:25:03.47 gradually. That's how God works. 00:25:03.50\00:25:05.03 He reminds me of the minister I listened to him a long time ago 00:25:05.07\00:25:08.40 and he said, he was an old man and he said if God wants you 00:25:08.44\00:25:11.87 to take ten steps and you're on step one, 00:25:11.91\00:25:15.24 he said what is the most important step for you? 00:25:15.28\00:25:18.18 And obviously, it's step two. So then God leads us step three 00:25:18.21\00:25:24.19 and we need to make these changes gradually but 00:25:24.22\00:25:27.66 we can do it if we pray, if we read His word 00:25:27.69\00:25:32.09 and if we ask for help. If we learn the benefits 00:25:32.13\00:25:34.93 of exercise and eating a good diet, more natural foods 00:25:34.96\00:25:38.77 and getting sunlight, drinking water, the basics our body will 00:25:38.80\00:25:44.67 be blessed and we'll be able to win many of these 00:25:44.71\00:25:50.05 body battles that we're fighting every day. 00:25:50.08\00:25:53.95 It's true, it's sort of like the story of Jacob you know 00:25:53.98\00:25:56.55 when he's going back to his brother and back to the 00:25:56.58\00:25:58.85 homeland. He said you guys go ahead, I'm going to go with 00:25:58.89\00:26:03.06 those who are moving a little more slowly here. 00:26:03.09\00:26:06.63 And that's how God works, He works with us, 00:26:06.66\00:26:08.80 we're moving slow and He knows we can't go too fast here 00:26:08.83\00:26:13.80 so He just goes right along with us, helps us step by step 00:26:13.84\00:26:18.24 as you pointed out. That's right so as we get down 00:26:18.27\00:26:21.04 to the end here, here's my glass cleaner, Caution, 00:26:21.08\00:26:26.35 Contents Under Pressure. We all need to be cautious 00:26:26.38\00:26:31.49 of the forces in this world that are building up pressure 00:26:31.52\00:26:36.16 and are trying to bring us down and once again 00:26:36.19\00:26:40.06 Psalm 37:7 "It says rest in the Lord and wait patiently 00:26:40.10\00:26:46.77 for Him". We hope that God will give you rest and relieve your 00:26:46.80\00:26:51.37 pressure as you get closer to Him. 00:26:51.41\00:26:54.84 Thanks for watching, we'll see you soon. 00:26:54.88\00:26:57.78 We hope you have enjoyed this episode of Body Battles, 00:26:57.81\00:27:02.05 before you go, these help resources are available from 00:27:02.08\00:27:05.42 Whitehorse Media. 00:27:05.45\00:27:06.79 First, our book End Times Health War which is loaded 00:27:06.82\00:27:10.49 with life-changing information about the secrets of health 00:27:10.53\00:27:13.66 plus how you supercharge your health by adding sprouts 00:27:13.70\00:27:16.46 to your diet and by drinking organic fresh juices. 00:27:16.50\00:27:19.63 If you would rather read smaller books, we have the same 00:27:19.67\00:27:23.27 information in these little pocket books Fabulous Health 00:27:23.30\00:27:27.74 Made Simple, Surviving Toxic Terrorism, Juice your way to 00:27:27.78\00:27:32.38 Fabulous Health, and Sprout Power. 00:27:32.41\00:27:34.68 You may also be interested in these other wonderful 00:27:34.72\00:27:37.82 pocket books Help for the Hopeless, and Secrets of 00:27:37.85\00:27:41.32 Inner Peace.
