Music... 00:00:02.30\00:00:27.59 Steve: Hello again, this is Part 3 of Body Battles. 00:00:27.62\00:00:30.39 I'm Steve Wohlberg... 00:00:30.43\00:00:31.76 I'm here with Jack McIntosh who is a health educator 00:00:31.79\00:00:34.76 and we're talking about how to strengthen... 00:00:34.80\00:00:36.83 how to strengthen you... 00:00:36.87\00:00:38.50 your body for the battles of life 00:00:38.53\00:00:41.50 so that you don't die early so you can be happier... 00:00:41.57\00:00:44.34 you can be healthier... you can live longer 00:00:44.37\00:00:46.34 and the first couple of programs we've talked about how... 00:00:46.37\00:00:50.88 it's really not that complicated in order to do this 00:00:50.95\00:00:54.48 that many of the solutions to 00:00:54.52\00:00:58.35 so many of the struggles that we have these days 00:00:58.39\00:01:00.69 are... are simple, 00:01:00.72\00:01:02.12 they're simple like eating a good diet and taking a walk... 00:01:02.16\00:01:04.79 and getting... getting a good night's sleep 00:01:04.83\00:01:06.93 and breathing fresh air 00:01:06.96\00:01:08.66 and so, we're going to continue along that theme 00:01:08.70\00:01:12.13 and we're going to focus on this Program 00:01:12.17\00:01:15.30 which is called: The Eden Diet 00:01:15.34\00:01:16.87 going back to the beginning and seeing what kind of food 00:01:16.91\00:01:20.34 is really the best for us 00:01:20.38\00:01:23.21 in order to fight the battles of life. 00:01:23.24\00:01:25.61 So, Jack, again thank you for being here. 00:01:25.65\00:01:27.88 Jack: My pleasure. 00:01:27.95\00:01:29.28 Steve: It's a blessing to have you 00:01:29.32\00:01:30.75 and I'd like to start out with just a couple of texts. 00:01:30.79\00:01:33.32 I think this is a good one to begin with... 00:01:33.36\00:01:35.96 Genesis... we go all the way back to Genesis, 00:01:35.99\00:01:38.46 we're going to call this Program The Eden Diet. 00:01:38.49\00:01:40.73 Jack: Back to the beginning. 00:01:40.76\00:01:42.10 Steve: Back to the beginning, so Genesis 1:29 God said, 00:01:42.13\00:01:45.03 "Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, 00:01:45.07\00:01:47.74 which is upon the face of all the earth, 00:01:47.77\00:01:49.20 and every tree, in which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; 00:01:49.24\00:01:54.81 to you, it shall be for food. " 00:01:54.84\00:01:56.88 So, this is God talking to... to Adam 00:01:56.91\00:02:00.38 and eventually to Eve and also to all of us 00:02:00.42\00:02:03.65 about a diet that is optimal... that's good for us. 00:02:03.69\00:02:08.19 Before I turn you loose, let me read... 00:02:08.22\00:02:11.29 just read a couple more texts that I really like 00:02:11.33\00:02:14.10 in Genesis chapter 2 verse 7... I'm sorry verse 8, 00:02:14.13\00:02:16.87 it says, "The LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; 00:02:16.90\00:02:20.70 and there He put the man whom He had formed. " 00:02:20.74\00:02:22.87 I like this verse... God planted a garden 00:02:22.90\00:02:25.34 and He put man in the garden 00:02:25.37\00:02:26.88 and verse 15 also says that the Lord God took the man, 00:02:26.91\00:02:30.65 and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it... 00:02:30.68\00:02:35.02 or cultivate it and to keep it... " 00:02:35.05\00:02:37.25 and that just impresses me that part of God's original plan 00:02:37.29\00:02:41.86 for... for human beings... 00:02:41.92\00:02:43.59 part of, you know, the Owner's Manuel you might say 00:02:43.63\00:02:47.60 from the Creator is that we should cultivate... 00:02:47.63\00:02:51.73 grow and we should eat food from the ground. 00:02:51.77\00:02:55.80 Jack: Food from natural environment. 00:02:55.84\00:02:57.47 Steve: Yeah, in a natural environment. 00:02:57.51\00:02:59.94 So, continue on... talk about that. 00:02:59.97\00:03:02.34 Jack: Sure, well, yes, He placed them in a garden, 00:03:02.41\00:03:05.75 what was in that garden? 00:03:05.78\00:03:07.92 Trees... flowers... fruit... food in general 00:03:07.95\00:03:13.29 as He said, "Trees that yield seed and fruit... 00:03:13.32\00:03:18.69 these are all-natural things that we find out in nature 00:03:18.73\00:03:22.53 that comes right from the hand of the Creator... 00:03:22.56\00:03:25.57 unprocessed... so on... 00:03:25.60\00:03:28.00 now, when this was given, there was no sin problem, 00:03:28.04\00:03:31.61 this is the first thing to realize. 00:03:31.64\00:03:34.41 This was the perfect environment 00:03:34.44\00:03:37.15 and guess what kind of diet this was? 00:03:37.18\00:03:40.28 The perfect diet... 00:03:40.32\00:03:42.25 keeping with the sinless perfect environment. 00:03:42.28\00:03:45.89 Steve: Okay. 00:03:45.92\00:03:47.32 Jack: So, when we pay attention to this instruction 00:03:47.36\00:03:50.63 that was given to us in the beginning 00:03:50.66\00:03:52.29 about what kind of fuel we should put into the body, 00:03:52.33\00:03:55.00 we find that it protects us from disease... 00:03:55.03\00:03:59.03 all kinds of disease... heart disease... Alzheimer's... 00:03:59.07\00:04:03.30 Diabetes... Hypertension... on and on and on, 00:04:03.34\00:04:07.48 you know the lifestyle diseases that do so much 00:04:07.51\00:04:11.61 to create the mortality in this country 00:04:11.65\00:04:14.52 and create the risk factors for disease. 00:04:14.55\00:04:17.39 So, it's really important to realize that this is the perfect 00:04:17.42\00:04:22.62 diet that was given to us in the beginning 00:04:22.66\00:04:24.83 and when we pay attention to it, 00:04:24.89\00:04:28.80 we reap the benefits... the blessing that comes 00:04:28.83\00:04:32.77 from paying attention to the Creator. 00:04:32.80\00:04:35.54 For instance, let me give you one example, 00:04:35.60\00:04:39.57 in the morning, when I get up, 00:04:39.61\00:04:41.08 I have breakfast of course 00:04:41.11\00:04:45.88 and one of the things I will have is whole-grain toast 00:04:45.91\00:04:50.29 because it's whole-wheat... has everything in it... 00:04:50.32\00:04:54.62 all the vitamins, the minerals and so on 00:04:54.69\00:04:56.62 but I have a choice when I get up in the morning. 00:04:56.66\00:05:00.36 I can put margarine on that toast 00:05:00.40\00:05:02.76 or I can put Eden Butter. 00:05:02.80\00:05:06.37 You say, "Wait a minute, what's Eden Butter?" 00:05:06.40\00:05:09.87 I'm so glad you asked. 00:05:09.90\00:05:11.77 Steve: What is Eden Butter? 00:05:11.81\00:05:13.38 Jack: That's the avocado, you see, 00:05:13.41\00:05:16.24 it has fat just like the margarine 00:05:16.28\00:05:19.08 but it's not artificial fat. 00:05:19.11\00:05:21.38 It is fat that is locked in fiber and it has antioxidants. 00:05:21.42\00:05:27.42 The margarine is digested... it has... 00:05:27.46\00:05:31.49 you need to have an emulsifier because it's a naked fat... 00:05:31.53\00:05:35.76 has no fiber, right, 00:05:35.83\00:05:38.33 so, it has to be emulsified 00:05:38.40\00:05:41.14 and that takes cholesterol to do that... 00:05:41.17\00:05:43.00 bile... to emulsify it. 00:05:43.04\00:05:45.64 If I eat the avocado, 00:05:45.67\00:05:48.21 instead of releasing bile to digest it, 00:05:48.24\00:05:51.31 it's digested way down in the lower part of the intestines 00:05:51.38\00:05:55.28 and that makes a huge difference in our health. 00:05:55.32\00:05:58.62 So, Eden Butter... 00:05:58.65\00:06:01.32 Steve: Good, well, you know, 00:06:01.36\00:06:02.82 I didn't know you were going to say that... 00:06:02.86\00:06:04.39 but I'm thinking about my breakfast this morning 00:06:04.43\00:06:07.40 and I had two slices of Ezekiel 4:9 Sprouted bread 00:06:07.43\00:06:10.80 and then I put on top of that, my Eden Butter... 00:06:10.83\00:06:14.14 I used... I eat a lot of avocados 00:06:14.20\00:06:16.97 and then I put on top of that some... some... 00:06:17.01\00:06:19.57 some beans that my wife made and I cooked them... 00:06:19.61\00:06:22.14 I heated them up... I put them on top of that 00:06:22.18\00:06:25.41 with a little bit of... I don't remember exactly 00:06:25.45\00:06:27.78 what kind of a dressing I put on there... it was good 00:06:27.82\00:06:30.49 and it was... so I had my Eden Butter today 00:06:30.52\00:06:33.56 and that's good. 00:06:33.59\00:06:34.92 Jack: Let's talk about those beans... 00:06:34.96\00:06:37.13 those beans are... remember what He said, 00:06:37.16\00:06:39.26 seed-bearing plants... guess what? 00:06:39.29\00:06:42.10 Legumes are seeds 00:06:42.13\00:06:43.47 so are walnuts... so are almonds... 00:06:43.50\00:06:45.90 so is wheat... all those things are seed 00:06:45.93\00:06:49.97 so, seed-bearing plants provide the proteins... 00:06:50.01\00:06:54.18 the vitamins and very critically the minerals that we need. 00:06:54.21\00:06:57.81 We don't talk much about minerals these days, 00:06:57.85\00:06:59.81 we talk about vitamins... 00:06:59.85\00:07:01.45 but all those natural foods... high-fiber foods... 00:07:01.48\00:07:05.19 fat... locked in fiber like the... 00:07:05.22\00:07:07.92 like the walnuts and the avocados. 00:07:07.96\00:07:10.76 Those are the things that come 00:07:10.79\00:07:13.19 right from the hand of the Creator 00:07:13.23\00:07:15.60 and if you do that, 00:07:15.63\00:07:16.97 you are protecting yourself from a host of diseases... 00:07:17.00\00:07:22.04 lifestyle diseases that are out there today, 00:07:22.07\00:07:24.44 that are killing people left and right. 00:07:24.47\00:07:26.71 Steve: Yeah and we all know that we're no longer in Eden 00:07:26.74\00:07:29.64 obviously, we've come down a long way. 00:07:29.68\00:07:31.41 Jack: Yes, we have. Steve: Sin has entered the world 00:07:31.48\00:07:34.42 and we're exposed to, you know, all kinds of temptations 00:07:34.45\00:07:37.35 and... and we... we get old 00:07:37.39\00:07:39.09 and we eventually die... 00:07:39.12\00:07:40.76 we can't completely avoid that in this world 00:07:40.79\00:07:43.63 but you're saying that if we go back and fuel ourselves 00:07:43.66\00:07:48.03 with the original diet, 00:07:48.06\00:07:49.40 we're going to enhance our body's ability 00:07:49.43\00:07:53.44 to deal with these issues... 00:07:53.47\00:07:54.80 to fight the body battles and we're going to... 00:07:54.84\00:07:58.07 you know the goal again is to have less disease... 00:07:58.14\00:08:01.34 to live longer... 00:08:01.38\00:08:02.71 to be happier... to be more useful through... 00:08:02.74\00:08:05.58 through such a simple thing 00:08:05.61\00:08:07.08 as eating more simple food that comes out of the ground. 00:08:07.12\00:08:10.79 Jack: Yes, paying attention to what the Creator said 00:08:10.82\00:08:14.42 right in the beginning. 00:08:14.46\00:08:16.06 Now, I want to move to something else 00:08:16.09\00:08:20.00 that we need to understand about fuel and food in general. 00:08:20.03\00:08:26.17 This is a statement by Dr. David Perlmutter 00:08:26.20\00:08:30.54 and I'm going to read this statement 00:08:30.74\00:08:33.78 then I'm going to explain why he said what he said. 00:08:33.81\00:08:36.11 Now, listen to this... it says, 00:08:36.14\00:08:37.61 "We recognize that food is far more than protein, 00:08:37.65\00:08:43.45 carbohydrates, fat and micronutrients... " 00:08:43.49\00:08:46.09 listen to this... 00:08:46.12\00:08:47.46 "and that food really does represent information... 00:08:47.49\00:08:52.33 food really does represent information. " 00:08:52.39\00:08:56.16 Now listen, "The foods that we consume 00:08:56.20\00:08:59.97 are instructing our genes. " 00:09:00.00\00:09:02.54 I'll say that again... 00:09:02.57\00:09:05.37 the foods that we are eating... consuming... 00:09:05.44\00:09:08.61 are instructing our genes... giving instruction to our genes 00:09:08.64\00:09:12.55 and I'll... I'll unpack that in a minute. 00:09:12.61\00:09:15.38 "Therefore, that's a very empowering notion: 00:09:15.42\00:09:18.15 you can change your genetic destiny 00:09:18.19\00:09:21.26 based upon the food choices that you make. " 00:09:21.29\00:09:24.89 So, here's what's happening now, 00:09:24.93\00:09:29.43 the wisdom of the Creator. 00:09:29.46\00:09:30.80 Did he say in Genesis that you're instructing your genes? 00:09:30.83\00:09:34.14 The answer is no... He didn't. 00:09:34.17\00:09:36.17 But by doing the simple thing that He asked us to do, 00:09:36.20\00:09:39.77 we see the implications 00:09:39.81\00:09:42.54 and they go far wider than we expected. 00:09:42.58\00:09:45.28 Who knew that you were going to be instructing your genes 00:09:45.31\00:09:49.95 when you put... when you drink a sweet drink 00:09:49.98\00:09:52.99 with high fructose corn syrup 00:09:53.02\00:09:54.52 or you eat an avocado on your whole-grain toast, 00:09:54.59\00:09:57.39 who knew that you were instructing your genes? 00:09:57.43\00:10:00.23 Now, what do we mean by that? 00:10:00.26\00:10:01.73 Steve: What do we mean by that? 00:10:01.76\00:10:03.10 Jack: Well, it turns out 00:10:03.13\00:10:04.47 that we have two basic kinds of genes in the body. 00:10:04.50\00:10:08.17 We have the worker genes. 00:10:08.20\00:10:10.97 They make the proteins and they make the hormones 00:10:11.01\00:10:14.84 and, you know, the enzymes and so on. 00:10:14.88\00:10:17.85 They do the... they do the work. 00:10:17.88\00:10:19.48 Think of it... 00:10:19.51\00:10:21.35 sort of its kind of like your hard drive on your computer. 00:10:21.38\00:10:24.15 It does the... the grunt work, if you will. 00:10:24.19\00:10:27.69 Sitting on top of your hard drive 00:10:27.72\00:10:30.43 is the software... Microsoft Word or whatever it is 00:10:30.46\00:10:35.06 right, and it tells the hard drive what to do. 00:10:35.10\00:10:38.63 Those genes are referred to as: 00:10:38.67\00:10:42.20 epigenes or the epigenetic system 00:10:42.24\00:10:45.71 and it turns out that the software system... 00:10:45.74\00:10:49.48 the epigenes is far greater in number 00:10:49.51\00:10:52.81 than the worker genes 00:10:53.05\00:10:54.98 because the Creator had in mind 00:10:55.02\00:10:58.29 to be able to have a sophisticated system 00:10:58.32\00:11:02.12 that would take care of a sophisticated person. 00:11:02.19\00:11:06.26 See... and so, the epigenetic... epi means above, 00:11:06.29\00:11:10.10 it sits on top of the worker genes, if you will, 00:11:10.13\00:11:13.90 and it gives instructions. 00:11:13.94\00:11:16.34 Now, everybody knows that software is programmable. 00:11:16.37\00:11:21.31 Is that correct? 00:11:21.34\00:11:22.71 Steve: Right. Jack: Software is programmable. 00:11:22.74\00:11:25.45 In the same way, your genes can be programmed. 00:11:25.48\00:11:28.18 When you put food into your mouth, 00:11:28.22\00:11:30.59 what are you doing? 00:11:30.62\00:11:31.99 You're programming your genes. Steve: Wow! 00:11:32.02\00:11:34.32 Jack: You are turning off bad genes 00:11:34.36\00:11:37.29 and turning on good genes 00:11:37.33\00:11:38.96 if you use Eden Butter and fresh fruits and vegetables 00:11:38.99\00:11:45.13 and nuts and grains. 00:11:45.17\00:11:47.10 Turning off bad genes... turning on good genes. 00:11:47.14\00:11:50.37 That's the epigenetic system. 00:11:50.41\00:11:51.94 Steve: And then the genes tell the hardware what to do. 00:11:51.97\00:11:54.31 Jack: Exactly. Steve: Got it. 00:11:54.34\00:11:55.68 Jack: But if I go ahead now and instead of... 00:11:55.71\00:11:58.48 instead of putting the... the natural things on my food 00:11:58.51\00:12:03.15 or, you know, I'm using all the Trans Fats, you know, 00:12:03.18\00:12:07.39 the hydrogenated hard fats and eating processed foods 00:12:07.42\00:12:11.23 and I'm drinking, you know, high fructose corn syrup, 00:12:11.29\00:12:15.06 you're also programming your genes 00:12:15.10\00:12:17.07 but guess what you're doing now, 00:12:17.10\00:12:18.97 you're turning on the bad genes that your grandmother gave you 00:12:19.00\00:12:22.17 or your grandfather 00:12:22.20\00:12:23.54 and turning off the good genes. 00:12:23.57\00:12:25.64 Genetic expression is programmed by food. 00:12:25.67\00:12:29.78 Steve: Wow! 00:12:29.84\00:12:31.18 Jack: Who knew that when the Lord gave that instruction 00:12:31.21\00:12:34.02 in Genesis... He was telling us something extremely important 00:12:34.05\00:12:37.82 and that is, you need to program your genes 00:12:37.85\00:12:41.36 even though He didn't say that. 00:12:41.39\00:12:42.86 Steve: So the... so the Science of today is validating 00:12:43.09\00:12:47.50 the original Eden Diet. 00:12:47.56\00:12:50.17 Jack: Absolutely and the American Heart Association... 00:12:50.20\00:12:53.54 American Cancer Society all of them are telling us... 00:12:53.57\00:12:56.00 sending the same message. 00:12:56.04\00:12:57.61 When it comes to fueling your body, 00:12:57.64\00:13:00.11 you need to eat the natural things that come from nature 00:13:00.14\00:13:03.88 unprocessed... fresh fruits... vegetables... 00:13:03.91\00:13:07.28 nuts... grains... 00:13:07.32\00:13:08.68 and the more you go toward the animal-based diet 00:13:08.72\00:13:12.12 which came in after sin entered, of course, 00:13:12.15\00:13:13.96 the more you go toward that diet, 00:13:13.99\00:13:16.42 the more you're going to turn on the bad genes 00:13:16.46\00:13:18.93 and turn off the good genes 00:13:18.99\00:13:20.70 and create trouble for your heart and your lungs 00:13:20.73\00:13:23.73 and your body in general... your brain. 00:13:23.77\00:13:26.50 Steve: So the good diet will help with the body battles. 00:13:26.53\00:13:30.31 It provides the weapons that help tell the hardware 00:13:30.34\00:13:34.18 what to do. 00:13:34.21\00:13:35.54 It turns off the bad guys and turns on the good guys. 00:13:35.58\00:13:38.31 Jack: The weapons of our warfare as we read in Part 1 and Part 2. 00:13:38.35\00:13:42.48 Steve: So... so these instructions 00:13:42.52\00:13:44.55 are really critical for us to... to understand. 00:13:44.59\00:13:47.12 So, let's talk about some of those simple things 00:13:47.16\00:13:49.66 that are in the natural foods. 00:13:49.72\00:13:51.06 I've got a list here that you gave me... 00:13:51.09\00:13:52.63 why don't we just go through those as quickly as we can 00:13:52.66\00:13:55.76 and put some more research and... and make it simple 00:13:55.80\00:13:58.83 so people can understand. 00:13:58.87\00:14:00.20 Jack: All right, so now we're going to put some flesh on the 00:14:00.24\00:14:02.14 skeleton that we produced here. Steve: Okay. 00:14:02.17\00:14:03.77 Jack: So, it turns out that... that fiber is very important... 00:14:03.81\00:14:09.08 the natural fiber that comes from food. 00:14:09.11\00:14:11.38 Remember I said the avocado... the fat is locked in fiber. 00:14:11.41\00:14:15.35 When the fat is removed and it becomes naked... 00:14:15.38\00:14:18.75 you know, you can... you can get oil from avocados 00:14:18.82\00:14:22.12 but why do that when you can use the avocado naturally. 00:14:22.16\00:14:27.30 So, it's very important to use... use the food 00:14:27.33\00:14:30.83 in the natural environment with the fiber. 00:14:30.87\00:14:33.94 Now, it turns out that that fiber is... 00:14:33.97\00:14:36.94 is... and the phytonutrients that come with the fiber 00:14:36.97\00:14:40.18 is anti-inflammatory 00:14:40.21\00:14:41.81 and inflammation is at the root of heart disease 00:14:41.84\00:14:44.95 and diabetes and all these lifestyle diseases. 00:14:44.98\00:14:47.68 So... so the fiber is really important. 00:14:47.72\00:14:50.02 The other thing that fiber does is... 00:14:50.05\00:14:52.39 let's say I have a choice in the morning. 00:14:52.42\00:14:54.69 I... I can drink orange juice or I can eat an orange. 00:14:54.72\00:14:59.89 There's no difference, is there? 00:14:59.93\00:15:02.73 Steve: Is there? 00:15:02.76\00:15:04.20 Jack: Or is there? Steve: Is there? 00:15:04.23\00:15:05.80 Jack: One is naked... that's the orange juice 00:15:05.83\00:15:09.57 and the other is locked in fiber... 00:15:09.60\00:15:11.64 the juice is locked in fiber. 00:15:11.67\00:15:13.88 If I drink the orange juice, 00:15:13.94\00:15:16.08 my blood sugar rockets right through the roof. 00:15:16.11\00:15:18.95 If I eat the orange, 00:15:18.98\00:15:23.42 I get a rise in my blood sugar 00:15:23.45\00:15:26.69 but instead of going like that... a spike... 00:15:26.72\00:15:28.79 it goes like this and it rises and rises gradually... 00:15:28.82\00:15:33.23 gradually and then it comes down 00:15:33.26\00:15:35.26 four... five hours later. 00:15:35.30\00:15:36.63 Steve: That's because the sugars are locked in the fiber 00:15:36.67\00:15:38.53 and so they're released slower. 00:15:38.57\00:15:40.40 Jack: Slowly... you got it. 00:15:40.44\00:15:42.14 That is critical... slow release of that carbohydrate energy... 00:15:42.20\00:15:47.08 that sugar in the... in the orange... 00:15:47.11\00:15:48.84 slow-release... so when you have slow-release, 00:15:48.88\00:15:51.75 you don't get a... a strong insulin response. 00:15:51.78\00:15:54.35 See, because if I do that with the orange juice, 00:15:54.38\00:15:56.89 I get a rush of insulin 00:15:56.92\00:15:58.75 because if my blood sugar goes too high, 00:15:58.79\00:16:02.32 I go into a coma... I... you know, 00:16:02.36\00:16:03.76 so, the body has to control what they call: homeostasis. 00:16:03.79\00:16:06.83 It's the narrow limits that the body likes to keep things in. 00:16:06.86\00:16:10.07 So, if something goes high, 00:16:10.10\00:16:11.53 it puts out something to bring it down 00:16:11.57\00:16:13.44 and Insulin brings down that sugar. 00:16:13.50\00:16:15.24 Steve: It's like temperature, right, 00:16:15.30\00:16:16.97 if the temperature is too high, the body works to bring it down. 00:16:17.01\00:16:19.81 If the temperature is too low, the body wants to bring it up. 00:16:19.84\00:16:22.61 Jack: That's that homeostasis thing, you know, 00:16:22.64\00:16:24.81 to... to keep it in certain limits. 00:16:24.85\00:16:26.25 So, this... this whole... ah... ah notion then 00:16:26.28\00:16:31.75 of controlling that blood sugar by eating the natural fiber, 00:16:31.82\00:16:36.09 that's what prevents Diabetes 00:16:36.12\00:16:37.63 because when we drink those sweet drinks 00:16:37.69\00:16:40.40 and we get that rush... you know, several times a day, 00:16:40.43\00:16:43.30 we exhaust the pancreas 00:16:43.37\00:16:45.70 and now the pancreas starts to produce less insulin 00:16:45.73\00:16:49.40 and we're eating a lot of animal fat... the burgers 00:16:49.44\00:16:53.07 you know, the fast-food French fries, 00:16:53.14\00:16:57.78 fried in that hydrogenated artificial Trans Fat, 00:16:57.81\00:17:01.92 you know, all those things... 00:17:01.98\00:17:03.32 they create trouble for the body. 00:17:03.35\00:17:06.39 They create insulin resistance and things like that. 00:17:06.42\00:17:09.72 and... and move us toward the diabetic condition 00:17:09.76\00:17:12.83 so, we want to eat foods that are high in fiber 00:17:12.86\00:17:16.80 just the way they come from the hand of the Creator. 00:17:16.83\00:17:19.53 Steve: Foods high in fiber are 00:17:19.57\00:17:21.17 the foods that are in their natural state. 00:17:21.20\00:17:23.54 Jack: In their natural state with all the phytonutrients 00:17:23.57\00:17:26.11 the minerals... the vitamins, et cetera. 00:17:26.14\00:17:28.44 The Creator has packaged everything in those foods 00:17:28.48\00:17:31.61 and we don't have to go look for vitamins over here 00:17:31.65\00:17:34.98 or look for vitamins over here, 00:17:35.02\00:17:36.95 as long as it's naturally grown 00:17:36.99\00:17:38.75 and it's not sprayed and you know, 00:17:38.79\00:17:40.49 all those other things... organic food, 00:17:40.52\00:17:42.29 that's what we want 00:17:42.32\00:17:43.96 and that is the best medicine for the human body. 00:17:43.99\00:17:47.96 Optimal medicine, if you will, 00:17:48.00\00:17:51.53 prevention... which, you know, they say, 00:17:51.57\00:17:54.40 "An ounce of prevention... " that's the food... 00:17:54.44\00:17:56.97 "is worth a pound of cure... " 00:17:57.01\00:17:58.54 and that's the expensive pharmaceuticals to control it. 00:17:58.57\00:18:01.04 So, fiber... fiber brings down the inflammation... 00:18:01.08\00:18:04.41 phytonutrients and all that. 00:18:04.45\00:18:05.78 Steve: You mentioned the the... Allium... 00:18:05.81\00:18:07.15 what do you... how do you call that? 00:18:07.18\00:18:08.52 Jack: The Alliums... now that's the onions and the garlic 00:18:08.55\00:18:10.32 and things like that. 00:18:10.35\00:18:11.69 They are wonderful for the... for enhancing the immune system 00:18:11.72\00:18:15.16 that we were talking about in our last program. 00:18:15.19\00:18:18.39 I make a dressing in my... at... at home... 00:18:18.43\00:18:21.56 it's a... a parsley dressing... 00:18:21.60\00:18:24.50 it has cashews and it has parsley 00:18:24.53\00:18:27.17 and little bit of onion 00:18:27.20\00:18:28.87 and I put in two cloves of fresh garlic 00:18:28.90\00:18:32.21 and I mean, that really... you can taste that garlic. 00:18:32.27\00:18:36.18 That garlic will kill any virus that's down in your gut 00:18:36.21\00:18:40.12 or any bacteria... it's... 00:18:40.15\00:18:41.98 it's particularly good for viruses 00:18:42.02\00:18:43.49 but fresh garlic is a wonderful immune enhancer. 00:18:43.55\00:18:47.49 It's part of your battle system. 00:18:47.52\00:18:49.59 Steve: Okay, I mentioned the... the vegetables... 00:18:49.62\00:18:52.16 the cruciferous vegetable. 00:18:52.19\00:18:53.66 Jack: Yes, of course, that's the cabbage family... 00:18:53.70\00:18:55.63 the broccoli... the cabbage... 00:18:55.66\00:18:57.63 the Brussel sprouts and things like that. 00:18:57.67\00:19:00.40 They're particularly good for enhancing your 00:19:00.44\00:19:03.10 ability to fight cancer for instance, 00:19:03.14\00:19:06.64 so... all of that. 00:19:06.68\00:19:08.04 Steve: And the fats... talk to us quickly about the fats... 00:19:08.11\00:19:10.28 Jack: Saturated fat... limit that... 00:19:10.31\00:19:12.28 so... so... the animal products are where you're going to get 00:19:12.31\00:19:16.32 most of the saturated fat. 00:19:16.35\00:19:17.69 Coconut oil has saturated fat also in it 00:19:17.72\00:19:21.39 but that seems to have some brain enhancement effects 00:19:21.42\00:19:27.40 but again, because it's refined 00:19:27.43\00:19:30.97 and it's removed from the coconut, 00:19:31.00\00:19:32.53 you want to be careful not to overuse it. 00:19:32.57\00:19:35.40 It is a saturated fat 00:19:35.44\00:19:37.04 but most of where we're getting saturated fat 00:19:37.07\00:19:39.57 are from animal products. 00:19:39.61\00:19:40.94 The chicken... the fish... 00:19:40.98\00:19:42.31 the... the meat and so on and so forth 00:19:42.34\00:19:45.41 so, we want... because that drives the heart disease process 00:19:45.48\00:19:49.35 especially the oxidized cholesterol 00:19:49.38\00:19:51.75 and speaking of oxidized cholesterol, 00:19:51.79\00:19:54.09 I want to mention a couple of things 00:19:54.16\00:19:56.29 that tend to really damage your arteries. 00:19:56.32\00:20:00.43 There are some foods that are actually dangerous 00:20:00.46\00:20:02.86 that from experimenting with animals, 00:20:02.90\00:20:06.80 they have shown that these foods when they feed them to animals, 00:20:06.84\00:20:10.14 it will damage their arteries overnight... 00:20:10.17\00:20:13.41 in other words... within 24 hours, 00:20:13.44\00:20:15.31 they can start to see fatty streaks in the... 00:20:15.34\00:20:18.35 in the arteries of these animals 00:20:18.38\00:20:19.98 when they feed this kind of food to animals. 00:20:20.02\00:20:22.68 So, I know what you're saying, 00:20:22.72\00:20:24.52 "Boy, I'd better pay attention here and see what these are. " 00:20:24.55\00:20:27.39 That's a good thing to do... pay attention. 00:20:27.42\00:20:29.42 Steve: Okay... I'm listening. Jack: Here we go... 00:20:29.46\00:20:31.19 all right, the first one of these foods 00:20:31.23\00:20:34.73 that we want to recommend that you avoid 00:20:34.76\00:20:37.97 is something that most people would never think of 00:20:38.00\00:20:40.60 and that is... Pancake Mix. 00:20:40.64\00:20:43.14 In other words, it sits on the shelf in a box 00:20:43.20\00:20:48.64 in the Supermarket... 00:20:48.68\00:20:50.01 you'd say, "Why would that be dangerous?" 00:20:50.05\00:20:51.71 Well, the answer in a word... actually two words 00:20:51.75\00:20:55.88 is oxidized cholesterol 00:20:55.92\00:20:58.39 because you see the danger from cholesterol 00:20:58.42\00:21:00.66 is not cholesterol itself 00:21:00.69\00:21:02.36 but oxidized cholesterol that actually damages the arteries... 00:21:02.39\00:21:06.03 it's a free radical. 00:21:06.06\00:21:08.20 So, the question is, 00:21:08.23\00:21:09.93 why would pancake mix have oxidized cholesterol in it? 00:21:09.96\00:21:14.40 The answer is... in a word... eggs... 00:21:14.44\00:21:17.97 eggs have large amounts of cholesterol. 00:21:18.01\00:21:21.51 However, it's not just eggs that Pancake Mix has, 00:21:21.54\00:21:25.81 it's powdered eggs. 00:21:25.85\00:21:28.72 Now, think about what happens when you take an egg 00:21:28.75\00:21:33.25 and make powder out of it, 00:21:33.29\00:21:34.62 you increase the surface area dramatically 00:21:34.66\00:21:37.09 and when you expose that to oxygen, 00:21:37.13\00:21:39.79 guess what happens? 00:21:39.83\00:21:41.16 It oxidizes. 00:21:41.20\00:21:42.53 I first learned this from Dr. Neil... 00:21:42.56\00:21:47.74 Steve: Nedley... Jack: Nedley, thank you... 00:21:47.80\00:21:50.31 little brain freeze there... 00:21:50.34\00:21:52.27 oxidized cholesterol is the real problem 00:21:52.31\00:21:56.31 when it comes to cholesterol 00:21:56.34\00:21:57.68 and he put this in his book... that's where I first found it. 00:21:57.71\00:22:00.68 Proof Positive... it's a wonderful book 00:22:00.72\00:22:03.15 and I encourage people to acquire that book 00:22:03.18\00:22:05.59 and that oxidized cholesterol is what damages the body overnight. 00:22:05.62\00:22:13.40 The second one... there are four of them... 00:22:13.43\00:22:15.76 the second one is lard... 00:22:15.83\00:22:17.17 lard is a fat that sits out, you know, in the open, 00:22:17.20\00:22:20.54 we often get it in refried beans and things like that 00:22:20.60\00:22:23.97 in the restaurants, you know, and all of that, 00:22:24.01\00:22:25.54 so, you need to ask questions when you go into a restaurant, 00:22:25.57\00:22:28.01 "Is there lard in this?" 00:22:28.04\00:22:29.38 because that can damage your arteries. 00:22:29.41\00:22:30.95 Steve: In one day. 00:22:30.98\00:22:32.31 Jack: In one day... 24 hours it can damage... 00:22:32.35\00:22:34.72 because of the oxidization... 00:22:34.75\00:22:36.28 see, the lard sits out and there's cholesterol in it 00:22:36.32\00:22:38.75 and it oxidizes... that's the point. 00:22:38.79\00:22:40.82 Steve: When it's exposed to air. Jack: When it's exposed to air. 00:22:40.86\00:22:42.96 Yes, and he tells a... 00:22:42.99\00:22:44.76 Dr. Nedley tells a wonderful story 00:22:44.79\00:22:46.49 about how they discovered this but we don't have time for that. 00:22:46.53\00:22:49.30 Let's move on. 00:22:49.33\00:22:50.93 Now, this one is kind of counter-intuitive. 00:22:50.97\00:22:54.27 Parmesan cheese... 00:22:54.30\00:22:56.20 Why would Parmesan cheese damage your arteries overnight? 00:22:56.24\00:23:00.48 Because most of... 00:23:00.98\00:23:02.31 most of the time when people eat Parmesan Cheese, 00:23:02.34\00:23:04.25 it's in a little green can, you know, powdered cheese, 00:23:04.28\00:23:08.38 and we shake it out on our spaghetti, right? 00:23:08.42\00:23:10.79 There is the spaghetti sauce and we shake it out. 00:23:10.82\00:23:13.52 Why would Parmesan Cheese... powdered Parmesan Cheese 00:23:13.56\00:23:16.22 be damaging to your arteries? 00:23:16.26\00:23:18.56 The answer is again... oxidized cholesterol. 00:23:18.59\00:23:21.80 Cheese has cholesterol. 00:23:21.83\00:23:23.37 When you make it into a powder, you increase the surface area... 00:23:23.40\00:23:27.00 the amount of cholesterol in it that is exposed 00:23:27.04\00:23:30.44 dramatically increases and so it oxidizes 00:23:30.47\00:23:32.94 and the first part to oxidize is the cheese on the top 00:23:32.97\00:23:38.21 as it sits in the can. 00:23:38.25\00:23:39.58 When you do that, guess what you've just done? 00:23:39.61\00:23:42.28 You've put the oxidized... 00:23:42.35\00:23:44.22 the most oxidized part of that cholesterol on your food. 00:23:44.29\00:23:47.42 It will damage your arteries overnight. 00:23:47.46\00:23:49.36 Steve: In one day... Jack: In one day. 00:23:49.39\00:23:51.26 That's what the research shows. 00:23:51.29\00:23:53.66 Oxidized cholesterol sitting there... 00:23:53.70\00:23:56.36 Steve: And, of course, the number one cause of death 00:23:56.40\00:23:59.07 is still heart disease. Jack: Absolutely 00:23:59.13\00:24:01.37 and so, you need to be careful of that food 00:24:01.40\00:24:03.64 and the last one that we're going to talk about 00:24:03.67\00:24:06.07 is custards... custards that are... 00:24:06.14\00:24:09.51 that are made from eggs 00:24:09.54\00:24:10.88 and sugar and milk for some reason 00:24:10.91\00:24:14.28 and I don't think we understand all of the reasons. 00:24:14.32\00:24:17.39 Oxidized cholesterol may be a part of... 00:24:17.45\00:24:20.79 is a part of that because there are eggs in it, 00:24:20.82\00:24:22.79 but for some reason, 00:24:22.82\00:24:24.69 that combination of milk and sugar and eggs 00:24:24.73\00:24:28.56 is very damaging. 00:24:28.60\00:24:31.30 Now, there is a custard that we eat commonly in America... 00:24:31.33\00:24:34.37 a milk-and-sugar combination... 00:24:34.40\00:24:36.27 can you guess what that is? 00:24:36.30\00:24:38.11 Steve: Eggnog? 00:24:38.14\00:24:39.71 Jack: Eggnog... that's one of it... 00:24:39.74\00:24:41.58 but there is also Ice Cream... Steve: Oh, Ice Cream. 00:24:41.61\00:24:44.88 Jack: Ice Cream is a milk-sugar combination 00:24:44.91\00:24:46.51 and for some reason, 00:24:46.55\00:24:47.88 Ice Cream tends to pose an extra risk 00:24:47.92\00:24:50.42 because of that sugar-milk combination. 00:24:50.45\00:24:53.05 So, these are some of the things 00:24:53.09\00:24:55.46 that we need to be cognizant of 00:24:55.49\00:24:58.23 that can actually protect us. 00:24:58.29\00:25:01.50 Again, the principle is simple: 00:25:01.53\00:25:04.67 Food that comes from the hand of the Creator 00:25:04.73\00:25:10.07 in as natural form as possible... 00:25:10.11\00:25:12.84 fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts and grains 00:25:12.87\00:25:15.88 and, of course, the seeds... the legumes... 00:25:15.94\00:25:18.75 black beans... garbanzo beans, 00:25:18.78\00:25:20.75 you know, tremendous importance for things like hypertension. 00:25:20.78\00:25:24.65 We'll get into that when we talk about reversing hypertension 00:25:24.69\00:25:28.49 all right. 00:25:28.52\00:25:30.29 Steve: So, when the Bible... when God says in Genesis 1:29, 00:25:30.33\00:25:34.16 "And God said... " 00:25:34.20\00:25:35.53 He's given us these natural products and He says, 00:25:35.56\00:25:39.47 and then He says, "To you, it shall be for food" 00:25:39.50\00:25:43.41 if we eat more of that food, 00:25:43.44\00:25:47.54 the natural food that God made... 00:25:47.58\00:25:49.61 that grows in the ground, 00:25:49.64\00:25:51.35 in more of its whole state, 00:25:51.38\00:25:53.01 we're a lot better off, right. Jack: We're protected. 00:25:53.05\00:25:56.15 Steve: So Science supports that this is going to... 00:25:56.18\00:25:58.55 this is going to help us in our body battles, 00:25:58.59\00:26:00.69 and... and we all have these battles and 00:26:00.72\00:26:02.72 you know, one of the battles is with our... our tongues 00:26:02.76\00:26:05.89 and our taste buds and our desires 00:26:05.93\00:26:08.36 that we just want to eat all these other things. 00:26:08.40\00:26:11.07 Jack: And they taste good by the way. 00:26:11.10\00:26:13.34 Steve: They do... they do... 00:26:13.37\00:26:14.70 we're not saying you should never eat, 00:26:14.74\00:26:16.40 you know, anything that's not pristine, 00:26:16.47\00:26:18.41 but the point is... is to... 00:26:18.47\00:26:20.44 is to build up the good and to lessen the bad 00:26:20.48\00:26:24.15 and to move step by step more and more toward... 00:26:24.18\00:26:27.78 toward the Eden Diet... 00:26:27.82\00:26:29.68 toward the original diet because down in these last days, 00:26:29.72\00:26:32.75 at the end of time, 00:26:32.79\00:26:34.12 we need all the help that we can get 00:26:34.16\00:26:37.43 in fighting the struggles of life... 00:26:37.46\00:26:40.20 and dealing with temptation and sin 00:26:40.23\00:26:42.50 and whatever else we're dealing with 00:26:42.53\00:26:44.73 so, simplicity is the best. 00:26:44.77\00:26:47.90 So, we hope that you've enjoyed this 00:26:47.97\00:26:49.97 and were blessed by this 00:26:50.01\00:26:51.34 and again, we've got more to come 00:26:51.37\00:26:53.31 so, see you back for Part 4. 00:26:53.34\00:26:55.74 Music... 00:26:55.78\00:26:57.68 We hope you have enjoyed this episode of Body Battles. 00:26:57.71\00:27:00.65 Before you go, these health resources 00:27:00.68\00:27:03.25 are available from White Horse Media. 00:27:03.28\00:27:05.02 First, our book: End Times Health War 00:27:05.05\00:27:08.02 which is loaded with life-changing information 00:27:08.06\00:27:10.66 about the secrets of health 00:27:10.69\00:27:12.03 plus how you can supercharge your health 00:27:12.06\00:27:14.13 by adding sprouts to your diet 00:27:14.16\00:27:15.73 and by drinking organic fresh juices. 00:27:15.76\00:27:18.20 If you would rather read smaller books, 00:27:18.23\00:27:20.84 we have the same information in these little pocket books: 00:27:20.87\00:27:25.11 Fabulous Health Made Simple 00:27:25.14\00:27:27.41 Surviving Toxic Terrorism 00:27:27.44\00:27:29.44 Juice Your Way to Fabulous Health 00:27:29.48\00:27:31.85 and Sprout Power. 00:27:31.88\00:27:33.38 You may also be interested 00:27:33.42\00:27:34.95 in these other wonderful pocket books: 00:27:34.98\00:27:37.25 Help for the Hopeless 00:27:37.29\00:27:38.85 and Secrets of Inner Peace. 00:27:38.89\00:27:40.56 They're all short... easy to read 00:27:40.59\00:27:43.16 and easy to share. 00:27:43.19\00:27:44.53 They are all available from White Horse Media. 00:27:44.56\00:27:47.23 Music... 00:27:47.26\00:27:49.80 We hope you've been blessed 00:27:49.83\00:27:51.73 by this White Horse Media Production. 00:27:51.77\00:27:53.54 To support White Horse Media, 00:27:53.57\00:27:55.54 please call us at: 1-800-78-Bible 00:27:55.57\00:27:59.11 that's: 1-800-782-4253. 00:27:59.14\00:28:03.35 You may also send your donations by mail to: White Horse Media 00:28:03.38\00:28:06.92 P.O.
