COVID-19... 00:02:13.73\00:02:16.73 Jack: COVID-19 that's creating all the trouble for us. 00:02:16.77\00:02:18.73 Steve: Yeah, it's amazing... 00:02:18.77\00:02:20.20 the whole world has been affected and locked down... 00:02:20.24\00:02:22.80 travel's been restricted... schools closed... 00:02:22.87\00:02:25.41 churches closed... all of this because of COVID... 00:02:25.44\00:02:28.41 COVID-19 connected to the Coronavirus 00:02:28.44\00:02:31.05 and, you know, these days just seems like COVID... COVID... 00:02:31.11\00:02:34.35 COVID... COVID... 00:02:34.38\00:02:35.72 and I think people are sick of COVID 00:02:35.75\00:02:37.49 and we just want to get beyond COVID 00:02:37.55\00:02:39.72 and so, you're going to help us find out how to do that. 00:02:39.75\00:02:44.06 Jack: Yes, so the COVID virus is a SARS virus... 00:02:44.09\00:02:52.57 it is Acute Respiratory Virus 00:02:52.60\00:02:55.07 and it's very similar to the Influenza virus... 00:02:55.10\00:03:01.54 the Influenza A and B, you know, 00:03:01.58\00:03:03.65 in that it... it attacks the respiratory system primarily 00:03:03.68\00:03:09.62 and it has some... some features that are similar 00:03:09.65\00:03:16.42 to the regular Influenza virus 00:03:16.46\00:03:21.86 and features that are not so similar. 00:03:21.90\00:03:25.27 So, we're going to talk about some of those. 00:03:25.33\00:03:29.34 In terms of similarities, of course, 00:03:29.37\00:03:33.44 it attaches to the... the ACE Receptor in the lungs 00:03:33.48\00:03:39.01 and that Receptor... there are lots of them in the lungs 00:03:39.05\00:03:44.09 and so, it produces some problems for breathing and 00:03:44.12\00:03:51.29 the respiratory system. 00:03:51.33\00:03:52.66 There is a difference also in the... 00:03:52.69\00:03:57.30 in the infectivity period... 00:03:57.33\00:04:01.60 you know, the period when you first acquire... 00:04:01.64\00:04:03.91 you start to symptoms with regular Influenza viruses 00:04:03.94\00:04:07.98 one to four days after you've been infected 00:04:08.01\00:04:12.01 but it can take up to 14 days 00:04:12.05\00:04:14.58 where the COVID-19 virus to see symptoms 00:04:14.62\00:04:19.95 and it can be deadly, of course, 00:04:19.99\00:04:23.53 if... if you have comorbidities. 00:04:23.56\00:04:27.00 So, I'm going to just access my notes here 00:04:27.03\00:04:31.07 and just give you a few things that we need to pay attention to 00:04:31.10\00:04:35.10 as we go through our little talk today. 00:04:35.14\00:04:39.14 The first thing is that some people die 00:04:39.17\00:04:43.38 from the COVID-19 virus and some don't 00:04:43.41\00:04:47.58 and the question is, "Why? 00:04:47.62\00:04:50.35 What would cause the difference?" 00:04:50.39\00:04:51.85 There is a 99.96 percent recovery rate 00:04:51.89\00:04:57.33 from the COVID-19 virus. 00:04:57.36\00:04:59.49 So, a very small percentage of people die 00:04:59.53\00:05:02.50 but it's important to understand why they die... 00:05:02.53\00:05:06.20 why do some people die and some don't? 00:05:06.23\00:05:08.90 In a word... the answer is: Comorbidities 00:05:08.94\00:05:11.47 and all that word means is that there are underlying conditions 00:05:11.54\00:05:15.34 and most of us are aware of them, you know, Diabetes... 00:05:15.38\00:05:17.75 heart disease... hypertension... 00:05:17.78\00:05:19.91 high cholesterol and... and even cancer. 00:05:19.95\00:05:25.12 Diseases that... 00:05:25.15\00:05:27.59 that are produced by inflammation primarily 00:05:27.62\00:05:32.69 and, of course, what happens in the lungs with all of these 00:05:32.73\00:05:37.37 Influenza and SARS viruses is inflammation... 00:05:37.40\00:05:41.97 that's the primary thing that happens, 00:05:42.00\00:05:44.24 there's a storm... a Cytokine Storm in the lungs 00:05:44.27\00:05:46.88 and it overwhelms the system. 00:05:46.91\00:05:48.94 The idea is to protect the immune system 00:05:49.01\00:05:52.01 so that we don't go down from that extra inflammation 00:05:52.05\00:05:57.82 that's going on in the... 00:05:57.85\00:06:00.16 in the lungs and in the respiratory system. 00:06:00.19\00:06:02.42 Steve: So, it's amazing to me, Jack, listening to the... 00:06:02.46\00:06:04.86 the numbers that like you said, 00:06:04.89\00:06:07.50 "It has a very high recovery rate... 00:06:07.53\00:06:10.53 99.96 recovery rate, 00:06:10.57\00:06:14.40 so, the vast majority of people 00:06:14.44\00:06:17.51 who are exposed to the Coronavirus... 00:06:17.54\00:06:20.58 if you get COVID-19 they... they don't die 00:06:20.61\00:06:24.01 and yet, what we've seen around the world is... 00:06:24.05\00:06:27.12 it's almost like, you know, this is the Bubonic Plague 00:06:27.18\00:06:31.62 or the Black Plague or at least, you know, there's so much fear 00:06:31.65\00:06:34.36 about getting this 00:06:34.39\00:06:36.19 and yet, as you mentioned, 00:06:36.22\00:06:38.63 a small percentage of those who do get it die, 00:06:38.66\00:06:42.03 but... but some do... 00:06:42.06\00:06:43.63 and so, it can be deadly for those that get it 00:06:43.67\00:06:46.70 if they have conditions that make it easier 00:06:46.74\00:06:51.21 for them to lose the battle and become a COVID casualty, 00:06:51.24\00:06:55.68 so, how do we... how do we avoid that 00:06:55.71\00:06:58.28 and how do we build up the... the body's ability 00:06:58.31\00:07:02.78 to fight, as you mentioned, the inflammation 00:07:02.82\00:07:05.05 and all the problems that result from... from this virus. 00:07:05.09\00:07:09.52 Jack: Hmmm... hmmm... I should also mention that 00:07:09.56\00:07:12.09 the number one source of mortality when it comes to those 00:07:12.13\00:07:17.90 underlying conditions is... is a Cardiac condition. 00:07:17.93\00:07:21.00 People with heart disease seem to succumb in larger numbers 00:07:21.04\00:07:28.78 to this virus than... than other people 00:07:28.81\00:07:31.21 but people with hypertension do succumb 00:07:31.25\00:07:33.58 and people with Diabetes 00:07:33.62\00:07:34.95 and sometimes there is a clustering of these things 00:07:34.98\00:07:37.65 in people... what we call Metabolic Syndrome 00:07:37.69\00:07:40.96 where people are Diabetic... 00:07:40.99\00:07:42.79 they're hypertensive... they have high cholesterol 00:07:42.82\00:07:45.09 and they're overweight 00:07:45.13\00:07:47.00 and when you have multiple risk factors clustering like that, 00:07:47.03\00:07:51.10 that increases your risk even more. 00:07:51.13\00:07:54.20 When you have two and three and four risk factors together, 00:07:54.24\00:07:58.71 then your risk factor goes way up high. 00:07:58.74\00:08:02.04 But Cardiac disease... heart disease is... 00:08:02.08\00:08:05.38 is the number one source of mortality 00:08:05.41\00:08:09.62 when people do have heart disease going on already. 00:08:09.65\00:08:12.69 Steve: Hmmm... hmmm... let me stop for a second... 00:08:12.72\00:08:15.66 what we... what we've heard over and over and over again 00:08:15.69\00:08:18.86 and, you know, we've heard it... 00:08:18.89\00:08:20.50 I've heard it as I walk around in airports... 00:08:20.53\00:08:23.50 when I travel... I still do travel 00:08:23.53\00:08:25.33 even though during the Pandemic, 00:08:25.40\00:08:27.14 there are still opportunities for me to travel 00:08:27.17\00:08:29.27 and hold Seminars 00:08:29.30\00:08:31.21 and, you know, the main things that we hear is: 00:08:31.24\00:08:34.18 Wash your hands... 00:08:34.21\00:08:35.54 Wear a mask... 00:08:35.58\00:08:36.91 Social Distance... 00:08:36.95\00:08:38.35 and, you know, just simple things like that 00:08:38.38\00:08:42.48 and we're being told this again and again and again 00:08:42.52\00:08:45.52 and again and again 00:08:45.55\00:08:46.89 and I'm certainly not saying that those things are... 00:08:46.92\00:08:48.72 you know, we should never do... 00:08:48.76\00:08:50.43 but I think what you're going to tell us 00:08:50.46\00:08:53.36 is that there's a bigger issue... an underlying issue 00:08:53.40\00:08:56.87 that is really not being focused on 00:08:56.90\00:08:59.70 and that's the body's own ability to fight disease 00:08:59.73\00:09:05.47 which is your... your immune system 00:09:05.51\00:09:07.38 and how we strengthen that immune system... 00:09:07.41\00:09:10.48 I think that... that's critical 00:09:10.51\00:09:12.35 and that's really not being stressed I think by enough... 00:09:12.38\00:09:15.88 enough people. 00:09:15.92\00:09:17.25 Jack: Yes, couple of things. Steve: Am I right on that? 00:09:17.29\00:09:19.79 Jack: Yeah, yeah, you know 00:09:19.85\00:09:21.96 they're referring to as a pandemic... 00:09:21.99\00:09:23.56 in a... in a... in a real 100 percent pandemic, 00:09:23.63\00:09:30.60 you would see, for instance, 00:09:30.63\00:09:32.37 the mortality rate increasing dramatically over let's say 2019 00:09:32.40\00:09:37.24 but we don't see that. 00:09:37.27\00:09:39.11 So, the reason we don't see that 00:09:39.14\00:09:41.34 is because there's a 99.96 recovery rate. 00:09:41.38\00:09:44.45 So, in a... in a real pandemic, 00:09:44.48\00:09:47.55 the mortality rate would go significantly higher. 00:09:47.58\00:09:50.99 So... but... if you have one of those comorbidities... 00:09:51.02\00:09:56.36 those risk factors that we've been talking about, 00:09:56.39\00:09:58.59 the Diabetes and hypertension and heart disease, 00:09:58.63\00:10:00.80 then, for you, that doesn't matter. 00:10:00.86\00:10:03.80 What matters is that you have to find a way to deal with it 00:10:03.83\00:10:06.63 and the best way to deal with it 00:10:06.70\00:10:08.54 is to strengthen your immune system 00:10:08.60\00:10:10.37 because actually, the real pandemic has been going on 00:10:10.41\00:10:15.71 for years and that is the snowstorm of Diabetes. 00:10:15.74\00:10:19.55 Diabetes is increasing at tremendous rate, you know, 00:10:19.58\00:10:23.35 and it used to be that people... 00:10:23.39\00:10:26.86 we used to call it: Adult Onset Diabetes. 00:10:26.89\00:10:31.89 I don't know if you remember way back, you know, 00:10:31.93\00:10:33.63 you got Diabetes when you were 40 and 50 and 60 years old. 00:10:33.66\00:10:38.10 Now, we have 12-year-old kids getting Diabetes. 00:10:38.13\00:10:41.74 So, so that's... that's the real pandemic 00:10:41.77\00:10:46.57 that's been going on under the radar 00:10:46.61\00:10:49.01 for a very, very long time, 00:10:49.04\00:10:51.21 and those, coincidentally 00:10:51.25\00:10:53.38 are the ones that put you at risk for the SARS COVID-19. 00:10:53.42\00:10:56.75 So, so that's the pandemic we need to address 00:10:56.79\00:11:00.46 is how do we protect people from Diabetes and Hypertension 00:11:00.49\00:11:05.66 and heart disease and so on. 00:11:05.69\00:11:07.03 But strengthening the immune response is the first step 00:11:07.06\00:11:11.03 and one of the most... 00:11:11.07\00:11:12.97 Steve: Before you do that, could you just... 00:11:13.03\00:11:14.44 for those that may not, you know, 00:11:14.47\00:11:16.71 have a medical background or... or just need some simplicity, 00:11:16.74\00:11:21.98 how would you define the immune system... what is that? 00:11:22.01\00:11:26.75 Jack: Well, the immune system has 00:11:26.78\00:11:29.38 as most people have heard of... white blood cells, you know, 00:11:29.42\00:11:32.12 T- Lymphocytes and B cells and so on, 00:11:32.15\00:11:36.83 Macrophages and all that... macro means: large, 00:11:36.86\00:11:40.56 phage means: to eat... so these are big eaters... 00:11:40.60\00:11:44.27 they devour bacteria, you know, 00:11:44.30\00:11:45.93 and that's called: active immunity, you know 00:11:46.00\00:11:50.91 and then there's... there's the learned immunity 00:11:50.94\00:11:55.81 where the immunity... 00:11:55.84\00:11:57.51 the cells learn what the pathogen... what the virus 00:11:57.55\00:12:01.62 or whatever it is... 00:12:01.65\00:12:03.08 what it's like and it builds up immunity over time, 00:12:03.12\00:12:05.32 so, you have... you have two kinds of soldiers in there, 00:12:05.35\00:12:08.52 you have soldiers that when something breaks through 00:12:08.59\00:12:11.73 the wall, they jump on it immediately 00:12:11.76\00:12:13.73 and... and that's... 00:12:13.76\00:12:16.10 that's the... the immediate response. 00:12:16.13\00:12:19.27 Then you have the learned response 00:12:19.30\00:12:21.10 where when those viruses and bacteria break through the line, 00:12:21.17\00:12:25.81 these guys sit back and they learn what that thing looks like 00:12:25.84\00:12:30.45 and how to... how to beat it 00:12:30.48\00:12:32.01 and so, they build up an immunity to it 00:12:32.05\00:12:34.82 to be able to destroy it. 00:12:34.88\00:12:36.55 So, that's... that's the second line of defense... 00:12:36.58\00:12:39.69 so, the learned immunity. 00:12:39.72\00:12:41.26 Steve: So, the immune system is the system within your body 00:12:41.29\00:12:44.76 your own body... Jack: Yes, very sophisticated. 00:12:44.79\00:12:46.90 Steve: Yeah, it's very... it's... it's almost like, 00:12:46.93\00:12:49.00 you could say, "high tech... " 00:12:49.03\00:12:50.53 it's extremely complicated but it's powerful 00:12:50.57\00:12:53.00 in its... in its own natural ability to fight disease 00:12:53.03\00:12:59.44 and, you know, bacteria and pathogens 00:12:59.47\00:13:02.41 and problems and all kinds of things that we... 00:13:02.44\00:13:04.35 we battle with all the time 00:13:04.38\00:13:05.81 and we want to strengthen... 00:13:05.85\00:13:07.22 we want to strengthen the body's inner ability 00:13:07.25\00:13:09.98 to fight these things so that if we get... 00:13:10.02\00:13:12.99 if we do get COVID-19, the body can kick it 00:13:13.02\00:13:16.59 just wipe it out instead of wiping you out. 00:13:16.62\00:13:20.16 Jack: Exactly... exactly 00:13:20.20\00:13:22.23 and one of the... one of the primary ways 00:13:22.26\00:13:25.90 that... that we can strengthen immunity 00:13:25.93\00:13:29.54 is by physical activity 00:13:29.57\00:13:32.37 and let me explain how that works. 00:13:32.41\00:13:35.71 So, for instance, let's say that... 00:13:35.74\00:13:39.15 that you decide, "You know, I need some fresh air... " 00:13:39.18\00:13:43.35 and so, you get up... you put on your sneakers 00:13:43.39\00:13:46.32 and get out there and you start walking 00:13:46.35\00:13:48.29 and you notice that after 17... 18... 20 minutes, 00:13:48.32\00:13:51.26 you notice, you start to feel a little bit warm 00:13:51.29\00:13:54.23 and by the time you get to 30 minutes 00:13:54.26\00:13:56.43 which is what we recommend... brisk walk... 30 minutes, 00:13:56.46\00:13:58.90 your body is one or two degrees higher. 00:13:58.93\00:14:01.90 Well, it turns out that... 00:14:01.94\00:14:04.24 that little increase in your body temperature 00:14:04.31\00:14:07.51 is like a natural fever 00:14:07.54\00:14:10.11 and you probably know that when you get an infection, 00:14:10.15\00:14:13.85 one of the first things you get is a fever, 00:14:13.88\00:14:15.65 you know, the body releases these... 00:14:15.68\00:14:17.95 what they call endogenous pathogens 00:14:17.99\00:14:20.22 which raises your body temperature... right? 00:14:20.26\00:14:22.49 Well, the exercise does that... raises it naturally 00:14:22.52\00:14:25.89 and when you raise the body temperature, 00:14:25.93\00:14:29.06 immediately, you start to strengthen the immune response 00:14:29.10\00:14:33.40 because now the soldiers that are in there are on high alert 00:14:33.44\00:14:37.31 because what you've done is, you've produced a little fever, 00:14:37.34\00:14:41.18 that's what you've done. 00:14:41.21\00:14:42.64 That's wonderful 00:14:42.68\00:14:44.01 and so, this is one of the reasons why again the Lord said 00:14:44.05\00:14:49.45 in the beginning, "In the sweat of your brow... " 00:14:49.48\00:14:51.25 right, you don't sweat unless your body temperature goes up. 00:14:51.29\00:14:54.52 "You shall eat bread... " 00:14:54.59\00:14:55.92 so, it works on all kinds of levels, you know, 00:14:55.96\00:14:59.16 the immune system... 00:14:59.19\00:15:00.93 the balancing of energy... input and output... 00:15:00.96\00:15:03.67 all those kinds of things 00:15:03.73\00:15:05.13 but what you're doing is, your producing a natural fever 00:15:05.17\00:15:08.80 and that has tremendous effects on your immune system. 00:15:08.84\00:15:12.87 It boosts the... the T-lymphocytes 00:15:12.91\00:15:16.14 and the... the macrophages and all those kinds of things 00:15:16.21\00:15:19.88 out there in the body. 00:15:19.91\00:15:21.32 Steve: So, it boosts all... just a simple walk 00:15:21.35\00:15:23.79 will boost the good guys to fight the bad guys. 00:15:23.82\00:15:26.19 Jack: Yes and that's why people who walk 00:15:26.25\00:15:29.12 seldom come down with the Influenza virus 00:15:29.16\00:15:31.96 you know, where you're sick for four, five, six, you know, 00:15:31.99\00:15:34.96 a week... days... 00:15:35.00\00:15:37.43 it's because they're constantly boosting the immune response 00:15:37.47\00:15:42.10 like getting out and taking a walk 00:15:42.14\00:15:43.71 and raising the body temperature... that's the key. 00:15:43.74\00:15:46.21 Steve: I see. 00:15:46.27\00:15:47.61 Jack: If the body temperature doesn't go up, 00:15:47.64\00:15:48.98 you don't get all of the benefits that you should get 00:15:49.01\00:15:52.95 when you get a rise in one or two degrees 00:15:52.98\00:15:55.85 in the... in the body temperature. 00:15:55.88\00:15:57.22 Steve: So... so... so when the temperature goes up 00:15:57.25\00:15:58.59 and the body kicks in to bring it down, 00:15:58.62\00:15:59.95 right, isn't that basically what's happening? 00:15:59.99\00:16:01.42 Jack: It does... it does... but just the rise in temperature 00:16:01.46\00:16:04.83 is... will boost that immune response. 00:16:04.86\00:16:07.86 stimulate it and now everybody is on guard, you know, 00:16:07.90\00:16:10.23 everybody in the... all those soldiers are in there 00:16:10.27\00:16:12.53 looking for the enemy. 00:16:12.57\00:16:13.90 So, that's very, very important for us. 00:16:13.94\00:16:16.60 Now, that's the number one thing that you can do 00:16:16.64\00:16:19.11 to boost your immunity. 00:16:19.14\00:16:20.64 Steve: Is just taking a walk and exercising... 00:16:20.68\00:16:22.11 Jack: Yes, a brisk walk. 00:16:22.14\00:16:23.68 Steve: A program we're going to do in the next... 00:16:23.71\00:16:26.28 one of the next ones... 00:16:26.31\00:16:27.65 is going to be... I think you have 40 different... 00:16:27.68\00:16:30.02 Jack: Forty reasons to exercise, we're going to talk about that. 00:16:30.09\00:16:32.29 Steve: And it's so simple and 00:16:32.32\00:16:33.89 some people think that they have to, you know, 00:16:33.92\00:16:37.76 become like super athletes and run marathons 00:16:37.79\00:16:41.60 in order to get the benefit of exercise 00:16:41.63\00:16:43.40 but... but that's not true. 00:16:43.43\00:16:44.87 But I like... I like to jog not... not fast 00:16:44.90\00:16:49.10 but I... I like... 00:16:49.17\00:16:50.84 we're surrounded by mountains here and I love going on the... 00:16:50.87\00:16:53.44 the logging roads with my dog and... 00:16:53.48\00:16:55.88 you know, just jogging along 00:16:55.94\00:16:57.91 and I do this for... walk and run for maybe 45 minutes 00:16:57.95\00:17:02.58 or sometimes an hour and I get a good sweat going 00:17:02.62\00:17:06.39 and I try to do this on a fairly regular basis 00:17:06.42\00:17:08.96 and it really... it makes me feel good 00:17:08.99\00:17:11.93 and I've traveled quite a bit during this pandemic 00:17:11.96\00:17:14.86 and it hasn't gotten me... thank the Lord... 00:17:14.90\00:17:18.57 I'm thankful that I haven't... 00:17:18.63\00:17:20.50 haven't had any major sickness for quite a while 00:17:20.54\00:17:24.01 so, I guess the point is 00:17:24.04\00:17:25.37 that you don't have to run a marathon, 00:17:25.41\00:17:28.34 it's just getting out... walking down the street... 00:17:28.38\00:17:30.78 walking around the block 00:17:30.81\00:17:32.51 that the benefits of doing that 00:17:32.55\00:17:34.02 to help boost the body's natural ability to fight disease 00:17:34.05\00:17:37.25 is... is almost off the charts. 00:17:37.29\00:17:39.89 Jack: Yeah and you know... 00:17:39.92\00:17:41.62 I think that the wisdom of the Creator 00:17:41.66\00:17:44.93 in giving us things that are not complicated... 00:17:44.96\00:17:48.10 so simple to do 00:17:48.13\00:17:50.27 that we can protect ourselves by... by something that simple 00:17:50.30\00:17:54.20 it's just awesome... 00:17:54.24\00:17:56.17 a wonderful thing to contemplate that He has made it easy for us 00:17:56.20\00:18:00.64 to protect ourselves. 00:18:00.68\00:18:02.48 But, of course, you know, we... we sit a lot 00:18:02.54\00:18:05.51 and we watch television a lot 00:18:05.55\00:18:07.38 and we need to not do that for more than an hour. 00:18:07.42\00:18:10.35 Steve: Yeah, we need to get up and move... 00:18:10.39\00:18:11.72 looking at my notes here, you've also mentioned 00:18:11.75\00:18:14.42 the significance of just sunlight and Vitamin D. 00:18:14.49\00:18:17.29 Jack: Yes, now the best... 00:18:17.33\00:18:19.19 Vitamin D has a tremendous effect on the immune system 00:18:19.23\00:18:23.33 in both the... the active immunity 00:18:23.37\00:18:25.83 and the... the learned immunity, if you will. 00:18:25.87\00:18:29.30 It... it boosts the immune response... 00:18:29.34\00:18:33.17 it has a tremendous effect 00:18:33.21\00:18:34.54 and what they've noticed from the research is that 00:18:34.58\00:18:37.48 if your Vitamin D level is less than 30, 00:18:37.51\00:18:41.15 your risk of coming down with COVID 00:18:41.18\00:18:43.89 and having significantly negative outcomes 00:18:43.92\00:18:48.52 is much greater 00:18:48.56\00:18:50.36 than if your Vitamin D level is 40 or above... 40 or above. 00:18:50.39\00:18:56.33 So, this is... this is very, very important 00:18:56.36\00:19:00.20 the Vitamin D level as many, many, many people... 00:19:00.24\00:19:02.67 large numbers of people in America 00:19:02.70\00:19:04.97 have Vitamin D levels of less than 20. 00:19:05.01\00:19:07.24 When you're down that low, 00:19:07.28\00:19:08.84 you are definitely... 00:19:08.88\00:19:10.21 Steve: At risk. 00:19:10.25\00:19:11.95 Jack: The sights of that virus to take you out. 00:19:12.01\00:19:15.18 You've got to make sure that your Vitamin D level is... 00:19:15.22\00:19:18.99 is significantly higher. 00:19:19.02\00:19:20.96 It really should be between 50 and 70. 00:19:21.02\00:19:23.06 Steve: So, what's a simple way to do that? 00:19:23.09\00:19:25.06 Jack: Simple way to do that is just to take Vitamin D3. 00:19:25.09\00:19:29.03 Now, it's not D2 00:19:29.06\00:19:30.40 but very often we will D2 on... on a package, you know, 00:19:30.43\00:19:35.17 of processed food and so on... 00:19:35.20\00:19:36.84 that's not the... the... 00:19:36.87\00:19:39.14 the active version of Vitamin D... it's D3. 00:19:39.17\00:19:43.58 Now, we use a liquid Vitamin D, it's an emulsifier... 00:19:43.61\00:19:47.72 this one just happens... there are lots of them out there. 00:19:47.75\00:19:50.29 This one's called: Bio-D-Mulsion Forte... 00:19:50.32\00:19:54.52 Bio-D-Mulsion... I'll put this in my bean bowl 00:20:29.16\00:20:33.66 because that's my protein for the day 00:20:33.70\00:20:36.56 and I put three drops and I'm good to go. 00:20:36.60\00:20:39.43 Last time it was measured, it was 83, see... 00:20:39.47\00:20:42.27 so, it's way above the average 00:20:42.30\00:20:44.71 and that's out there today. 00:20:44.74\00:20:47.18 So, just simply doing something 00:20:47.24\00:20:49.64 and you don't have to use this brand, 00:20:49.68\00:20:51.11 there are lots of them out there... 00:20:51.15\00:20:52.51 this is just the one we use 00:20:52.55\00:20:53.88 but the point is, you need to do something, 00:20:53.92\00:20:56.25 if you live above... what is it? Redding, California, 00:20:56.28\00:21:02.09 I guess it is or maybe a little further in terms of latitude, 00:21:02.12\00:21:05.89 you really need to use Vitamin D3 in some form 00:21:05.93\00:21:11.07 because of its importance for... for immune enhancement 00:21:11.13\00:21:16.30 building up immunity. 00:21:16.34\00:21:17.77 Steve: People who live in warmer climates 00:21:17.81\00:21:19.41 like California or Texas... 00:21:19.44\00:21:20.91 they just need to get a little bit of sunlight, right? 00:21:20.94\00:21:22.91 just get out in the sun. 00:21:22.94\00:21:24.85 Jack: Yes, exposure of the skin to sunlight 00:21:24.91\00:21:27.65 in a very short period of time, just ten minutes, actually, 00:21:27.68\00:21:30.69 if you just expose your back 00:21:30.72\00:21:32.52 or... or your chest to the sunlight 00:21:32.55\00:21:35.36 then you'd get... and even your arms... 00:21:35.39\00:21:38.09 of course your arms have less area for you to make Vitamin D 00:21:38.16\00:21:42.23 but your face... your neck... 00:21:42.26\00:21:43.67 your arms, you know, that exposure builds... 00:21:43.70\00:21:47.14 and that's the best kind of Vitamin D, by the way, 00:21:47.17\00:21:49.90 it lasts longer in your bloodstream 00:21:49.94\00:21:52.01 than one that comes out of a bottle. 00:21:52.04\00:21:53.94 But it doesn't mean that if you live north 00:21:53.98\00:21:58.48 the way many of us do... 00:21:58.51\00:22:00.08 north of that line that we talked about, 00:22:00.12\00:22:02.78 that you can't have enhanced immunity. 00:22:02.85\00:22:05.49 Steve: So, give us... 00:22:05.52\00:22:07.72 we don't have much time left in this Program, 00:22:07.76\00:22:10.73 you mentioned to me, sugar, sleep and stress. 00:22:10.76\00:22:13.60 So, just give us the short version of how... 00:22:13.63\00:22:16.46 how we can boost the immunity. 00:22:16.50\00:22:18.20 Jack: Yes, sugar tends to have a very, very negative effect 00:22:18.23\00:22:24.14 on immune cells. 00:22:24.17\00:22:25.74 Macrophages for instance that eat up bacteria... 00:22:25.77\00:22:29.58 if you... if you indulge too much sugar, 00:22:29.61\00:22:35.25 their ability to engulf bacteria diminishes just by the amount... 00:22:35.28\00:22:40.12 it's an inverse relationship, the more sugar you eat, 00:22:40.16\00:22:42.59 the less they can "eat" so to speak to defend you 00:22:42.62\00:22:47.06 and so, you want to keep the sugar low in the diet. 00:22:47.10\00:22:51.43 Stress also is... is pro inflammatory 00:22:51.47\00:22:56.07 and you know, it releases Cortisol and you want... 00:22:56.10\00:22:59.67 which is a stress hormone 00:22:59.71\00:23:01.04 and you want to avoid 00:23:01.08\00:23:04.08 stressful situations. 00:23:04.11\00:23:07.28 When people watch television, for instance, 00:23:07.32\00:23:09.68 where people are shooting each other 00:23:09.72\00:23:11.05 and, you know, doing things to each other, 00:23:11.09\00:23:13.15 they don't realize but your stress hormones go up 00:23:13.19\00:23:15.96 in response to what you're seeing... 00:23:16.02\00:23:17.56 what's coming into the brain 00:23:17.59\00:23:18.93 and so, you want to avoid that kind of programming 00:23:18.96\00:23:22.53 where there's violence and... 00:23:22.56\00:23:23.97 and that has an effect on your immune system. 00:23:24.00\00:23:27.24 That's just not something that is going to move you forward 00:23:27.27\00:23:31.54 in terms of enhancing your immunity. 00:23:31.57\00:23:33.24 So, we... we don't recommend 00:23:33.27\00:23:36.75 that you involve yourself in that. 00:23:36.78\00:23:41.52 Steve: And, what about, sleep... getting a good night's sleep. 00:23:41.55\00:23:43.52 Jack: Sleep is important too. 00:23:43.55\00:23:44.89 Sleep is... the body fixes itself during sleep. 00:23:44.92\00:23:49.69 The brain actually gets smaller 00:23:49.72\00:23:53.36 and actually pushes out the toxins in the body... 00:23:53.40\00:23:59.17 in the brain when you sleep. 00:23:59.20\00:24:01.20 It's just the "fix and rejuvenate" part 00:24:01.24\00:24:04.84 of the day when you press the reset button, 00:24:04.87\00:24:08.44 that's what sleep does... it presses that "reset" button 00:24:08.48\00:24:10.98 and gets rid of the toxins and... 00:24:11.01\00:24:13.95 and enhances the immune response 00:24:13.98\00:24:16.85 and just all kinds of good things happen during sleep... 00:24:16.89\00:24:19.25 good sleep. 00:24:19.29\00:24:20.66 Steve: So... so when we hear... there's a lot of discussion 00:24:20.69\00:24:25.46 and controversy in talking about the vaccine... 00:24:25.49\00:24:28.06 then, of course, the masks and the hand washing 00:24:28.13\00:24:30.67 and social distancing 00:24:30.70\00:24:32.03 and... you know, the... the, I guess what you're saying... 00:24:32.07\00:24:35.74 is that there's a... 00:24:35.77\00:24:37.11 there's another issue... there's an underlying issue 00:24:37.14\00:24:40.08 and that is: building up the body... 00:24:40.11\00:24:41.64 building up our immune system for the battles 00:24:41.68\00:24:44.85 so that if we... you know, whatever we're exposed to... 00:24:44.88\00:24:46.45 whatever we get... 00:24:46.48\00:24:47.82 that we can hopefully handle it naturally 00:24:47.85\00:24:51.09 by doing simple things like getting enough sleep 00:24:51.12\00:24:54.32 and getting out in the sun 00:24:54.36\00:24:55.69 and... and, you know, taking a walk 00:24:55.72\00:24:57.69 and just these simple things will lessen the... 00:24:57.73\00:25:00.43 the likelihood that we're going to go down... poooh... 00:25:00.46\00:25:04.47 if we get shot by COVID-19. 00:25:04.50\00:25:06.77 Jack: Yeah, and so, for instance in the evening, you know, 00:25:06.80\00:25:10.07 where you finish dinner 00:25:10.11\00:25:11.64 and you are trying to decide what to do... 00:25:11.67\00:25:14.21 shall I watch television or read a book or whatever, 00:25:14.24\00:25:16.58 get on the treadmill... 00:25:16.61\00:25:18.25 that brings down the blood sugar that... 00:25:18.28\00:25:20.98 that... that... from the meal... enhances your immunity 00:25:21.05\00:25:25.65 you know, builds up the white-blood-cell counts 00:25:25.69\00:25:28.49 and things like that 00:25:28.52\00:25:30.23 and it just really helps to manage stress, for instance. 00:25:30.26\00:25:33.26 One of the... one of the things that happens with stress is that 00:25:33.29\00:25:37.93 your C-reactive protein which is an inflammatory marker increases 00:25:37.97\00:25:42.54 and so, physical activity brings down the stress level... 00:25:42.60\00:25:46.07 brings down the Cortisol levels and things like that. 00:25:46.11\00:25:49.58 So, it's really a... it's really important 00:25:49.61\00:25:52.48 to... to choose things that are better for us. 00:25:52.51\00:25:55.22 Instead of watching that violent TV Program, 00:25:55.25\00:25:57.92 get on the treadmill 00:25:57.95\00:25:59.95 and start doing something about your physical activity 00:25:59.99\00:26:03.26 and that's a... that's a really important investment. 00:26:03.29\00:26:06.56 Steve: That makes sense... makes sense to me 00:26:06.59\00:26:08.53 so, I guess the bottom line is that 00:26:08.56\00:26:10.27 there are simple, natural things that we can do 00:26:10.33\00:26:12.97 to build up the body for the battle 00:26:13.00\00:26:15.50 so that we can live longer... we can be happier... 00:26:15.54\00:26:18.57 we can, you know, overcome a lot of the things 00:26:18.61\00:26:21.58 that are coming our way... that are fighting against us, 00:26:21.64\00:26:24.01 as we read... as we started out in 2nd Corinthians 00:26:24.05\00:26:27.65 chapter 10 and verse 4, 00:26:27.68\00:26:29.32 the Bible talks about the weapons of our warfare. 00:26:29.35\00:26:33.09 We have weapons that God has given us. 00:26:33.12\00:26:35.12 Jack: Yes, we do. 00:26:35.16\00:26:36.49 Steve: We have a Bible to teach us a simple Biblical truth... 00:26:36.52\00:26:39.53 we have prayer... we have a relationship with God 00:26:39.59\00:26:42.06 and we have decisions that we can make 00:26:42.10\00:26:44.07 to build up our health naturally... 00:26:44.10\00:26:46.30 to boost the body for the battle... 00:26:46.33\00:26:48.44 so, come back for Part 3, we've got more to come. 00:26:48.50\00:26:51.87 Music... 00:26:51.91\00:26:53.74 Narrator:
