> Welcome to another edition of Bible Alive. I'm so glad that 00:00:17.53\00:00:20.16 you joined us today. We're going to be talking about a story in 00:00:20.19\00:00:23.53 the Bible that I think the children might know better than 00:00:23.56\00:00:26.53 the parents. At least we learned it when we were children and 00:00:26.56\00:00:29.19 it's about The Walls Come Tumbling Down. That's your hint, 00:00:29.22\00:00:33.14 what is it? Jericho, you got it but before we do, I want to 00:00:33.17\00:00:36.85 introduce you to Rudy, my brother. Glad that you're here, 00:00:36.86\00:00:39.04 Rudy. >> Good to be here again. > Yeah. It looks like this is 00:00:39.07\00:00:42.10 kind of... be a common thing. >> Looks like it... Looks like 00:00:42.13\00:00:44.70 it is, doesn't it? > It does. Well, Jericho, even though it's 00:00:44.73\00:00:48.97 not a long story in the Bible, there's a lot of... a... a lot 00:00:49.01\00:00:52.78 things that we can maybe unpack and... and make it... make it 00:00:52.81\00:00:55.54 practical in our day today. >> A lot of practical applications. 00:00:55.57\00:00:58.38 > Well, before we start, let's... let's have a Word of 00:00:58.41\00:01:02.06 prayer and Rudy, would you have a prayer today for us? >> I'll 00:01:02.09\00:01:05.29 be glad to. > OK. >> Dear Heavenly Father, thank You so 00:01:05.32\00:01:07.85 much that we have an opportunity to open Your Word. Thank You 00:01:07.88\00:01:11.11 that we can learn > Hmm. >> from the examples that You have 00:01:11.14\00:01:14.08 placed in here for us, for us to read today and to take into our 00:01:14.11\00:01:19.05 lives and our hearts and to change our lives in accordance 00:01:19.08\00:01:22.20 with Your will. > Amen. >> Help us to understand this more 00:01:22.23\00:01:26.10 thoroughly so we can gain the blessing that You have promised. 00:01:26.13\00:01:29.24 > Hmm. >> We pray this in Jesus name, Amen. > Amen. OK, if you 00:01:29.27\00:01:34.40 don't have your Bibles, go get them and let's get in there. 00:01:34.43\00:01:37.94 Now, what's... what's the text, Rudy? Well, > we're going >> 00:01:37.97\00:01:40.53 we're gonna go to Joshua. > OK. >> Chapter 6. > Joshua Chapter 00:01:40.56\00:01:45.10 6. >> and we're just going to start with the first one. > OK. 00:01:45.13\00:01:48.97 >> Joshua Chapter 6 and I think, it looks like that's on page 255 00:01:49.00\00:01:55.88 of the Remnant Study Bible, New King James and also 250, almost 00:01:55.91\00:02:00.81 the same page for the King James but it doesn't matter, just get 00:02:00.84\00:02:04.46 your Bibles and get to Joshua Chapter 6. OK, now, to me, Rudy, 00:02:04.49\00:02:11.92 it starts right out, which is, I think is good. There's a 00:02:11.95\00:02:15.56 keyword in verse 1, it says, 00:02:15.59\00:02:17.28 In other words, Jericho even though it says it was surely, 00:02:24.34\00:02:27.39 they was afraid of these children of Israel, coming out 00:02:27.42\00:02:30.75 they were afraid but the word that I like to talk about on 00:02:30.78\00:02:35.01 verse 1 is, secure. They had a high fortress, great walls, the 00:02:35.04\00:02:41.17 walls of Jericho and it was securely it says. In other 00:02:41.20\00:02:44.79 words, when something's secure, it means nothing's going to 00:02:44.82\00:02:47.77 get in, it's secure. >> Well, it... it says that they thought 00:02:47.80\00:02:51.56 it was secure > That's right. >> but they was gonna learn 00:02:51.59\00:02:54.08 what secure was all about, but, you know, before we go into it 00:02:54.11\00:02:57.67 and I don't wanna back up too much, but, you know, why... why 00:02:57.70\00:03:00.98 is Joshua involved here? Because Moses is out of the picture and 00:03:01.01\00:03:05.87 you can imagine there might have been some apprehension with the 00:03:05.90\00:03:09.05 children of Israel thinking, "Wow, the great leader isn't 00:03:09.08\00:03:12.23 here now, now we've got another leader" but, you know, this 00:03:12.26\00:03:15.65 story proves that it's isn't about Moses, it wasn't about 00:03:15.68\00:03:19.00 Joshua, it was about God leading his people > Amen. >> and so 00:03:19.03\00:03:22.46 > That's right. > that's ... that's... that's another 00:03:22.49\00:03:23.78 practical application that God will work with whoever is 00:03:23.81\00:03:27.60 willing to be worked with > And what's that - what's that saying 00:03:27.63\00:03:30.59 about the qualified? >> You know, God... you know, "God 00:03:30.62\00:03:33.74 doesn't call the qualified, he qualifies the called. " > Amen. 00:03:33.77\00:03:37.08 So if you're willing to be called, you don't have to worry 00:03:37.11\00:03:39.49 about your qualifications, His qualifications, will be good 00:03:39.52\00:03:42.78 enough. > That's right. OK, so it's not about you, it's not 00:03:42.81\00:03:46.55 about me, it wasn't about Joshua, >> It's about God's... 00:03:46.58\00:03:49.43 > it wasn't about Moses. >> God's plan, God's will. 00:03:49.46\00:03:51.19 > Now, something else that I think that we were talking off 00:03:51.22\00:03:55.25 camera that I think is really was - we... we can set the 00:03:55.28\00:03:58.45 stage, Joshua was a man of war. >>That's right. > He was the 00:03:58.48\00:04:03.43 leader and... and... and with his people, with his army, so 00:04:03.46\00:04:07.82 this man can fight. >> That's right. > He fights with faith 00:04:07.85\00:04:11.76 but he fights with guts, so he fights with everything he's got. 00:04:11.79\00:04:14.41 I guess he's a man, he had a well trained army and he is not 00:04:14.44\00:04:20.65 used to probably being... what I'd call a wimp. >> That's 00:04:20.68\00:04:24.13 right. > So, now we're... we're setting the stage here and 00:04:24.16\00:04:29.09 >> For this man of war. > Yes, this man of war goes and it 00:04:29.12\00:04:34.51 says that... it says that, 00:04:34.54\00:04:36.36 So the Lord said to Joshua. It says, 00:04:38.50\00:04:40.61 In other words, they were... they were men of valor at 00:04:45.66\00:04:48.40 Jericho. >> That's right. > They weren't, it was... this was not 00:04:48.43\00:04:51.37 some wimpy little city. >> That's right. > This was a 00:04:51.40\00:04:54.96 stronghold, you know and then it says, verse 3, and... and we 00:04:54.99\00:05:01.80 sing the song. You've heard of it. What is that, Joshua? >> Get 00:05:01.83\00:05:05.05 the battle of Jericho. > Yeah, Joshua get the battle of 00:05:05.08\00:05:07.43 Jericho and, you know, it goes on and it said the walls came 00:05:07.46\00:05:09.46 tumbling down. Well, here's this man of war, Joshua, he's used 00:05:09.49\00:05:12.82 to fighting with a spear and a shield and all this stuff and in 00:05:12.85\00:05:17.37 verse 3, it says 00:05:17.40\00:05:18.37 OK, and... and I would probably say, if I only listen, I said, 00:05:23.74\00:05:26.14 Yeah, we're going to march around the city, then we're 00:05:26.17\00:05:28.20 going to attack it >> That's right. > because that's... 00:05:28.23\00:05:29.92 that's what man would do and it says, 00:05:29.95\00:05:31.39 In other words, go around the city, each day, for six days and 00:05:35.21\00:05:38.56 just march around it and then in verse 4, it says, 00:05:38.59\00:05:42.59 >> Yeah, and... and... and not to be labor the point but I'm 00:05:56.85\00:06:01.13 sure that Joshua knew he... they had to take this city and I'm 00:06:01.16\00:06:05.41 sure before the Lord told him how to do it, he had plans. 00:06:05.44\00:06:08.64 > Sure. >> and I doubt whether none of them included marching 00:06:08.67\00:06:09.64 And I doubt whether none of them included marching around with 00:06:09.65\00:06:12.40 trumpets > Right, I guess not. >> and bringing the priest along 00:06:12.43\00:06:15.22 > Right. >> I mean, they weren't men of war and so it's 00:06:15.25\00:06:18.72 interesting to know, this man of war, he was really a man of God 00:06:18.75\00:06:21.95 > That's right. >> because he didn't question him, you don't 00:06:22.90\00:06:24.60 big debates saying, "Why are we doing that, stupid plan?" 00:06:24.63\00:06:28.55 You... you don't hear none of that. > That's right, that's 00:06:28.58\00:06:30.22 right. >> You know, and I think that's significant in our lives. 00:06:30.25\00:06:32.94 A lot of times, things aren't going our way but if we follow 00:06:32.97\00:06:36.28 God, then... then we follow God. > And... and something else 00:06:36.31\00:06:40.26 before we go on, that I think is so vitally important, it's... 00:06:40.29\00:06:42.58 it's a little word called faith >> Amen. > and in Luke, it says, 00:06:42.61\00:06:46.93 you know, it... it... it talks about faith. You know, if 00:06:46.96\00:06:50.64 you're faithful in that which is least, then you'll be 00:06:50.67\00:06:53.35 faithful in that which is much. In other words, when I was young 00:06:53.38\00:06:56.29 and... and... and, you know, obviously we are brothers and... 00:06:56.32\00:06:58.41 and dad was a man of his word and he tells you to do it and 00:06:58.44\00:07:02.03 you did it but dad would never give us big... bigger jobs until 00:07:02.06\00:07:06.53 we... >> Than we could handle. >Than we could handle >> That's 00:07:06.56\00:07:08.50 right > and when we got the little jobs done, that 00:07:08.53\00:07:10.42 most of the time at least I can say when he would tell me to 00:07:10.45\00:07:13.27 sweep the floor, I don't want to sweep, I want to do something 00:07:13.30\00:07:15.80 bigger. But dad just says, "Tell me, son, if you learned to sweep 00:07:15.81\00:07:19.16 the floor well, then I can give you a better job, you know, and 00:07:19.19\00:07:23.24 bigger job but you need to learn to sweep the floor and sweep it 00:07:23.27\00:07:25.86 well " >> That's right. > and to me when I was young, I can't 00:07:25.89\00:07:27.42 kind of understand that but it was all part of doing things 00:07:27.45\00:07:30.01 faithfully and then we can have something bigger and here... 00:07:30.04\00:07:33.33 and faith doesn't just come by, you know, like, "you've got 00:07:33.36\00:07:41.34 faith now. " I mean, >> That's right. > It's not like a light 00:07:41.37\00:07:43.01 switch. >> That's right. It's... it's something that is 00:07:43.04\00:07:45.98 exercised > It's exercised. That's right. >> and... and the 00:07:46.01\00:07:48.62 Bible says, that you'll be... you'll have faith to faith. In 00:07:48.66\00:07:51.24 other words, the faith that you have, when you exercise it 00:07:51.27\00:07:53.34 you'll be given more > More faith. >> and... and... and 00:07:53.37\00:07:56.10 Joshua had proved that he had already learned to listen, to 00:07:56.13\00:08:01.57 God, period > That's right and... and... and obviously, if 00:08:01.60\00:08:06.11 we get back into the scriptures with Joshua, he had been 00:08:06.14\00:08:09.29 faithful. He was one of the only ones that had been faithful all 00:08:09.32\00:08:13.40 the way through. >> That's right. > His faith had grown. 00:08:13.43\00:08:15.39 You know, Joshua and Caleb, they were the only two spies, I mean, 00:08:15.42\00:08:18.59 nobody... it... it doesn't say who the other 10 spies were. 00:08:18.62\00:08:21.09 Just says >> That's right. > there were 12 spies and there 00:08:21.12\00:08:23.71 was Joshua and Caleb, part of those 12. They were the faithful 00:08:23.74\00:08:26.58 ones. >> And... and not to get off the subject but how long had 00:08:26.61\00:08:30.21 he been waiting to go into battle, to take Jericho? > Yes, 00:08:30.24\00:08:34.37 that's right. >> A good many years. > A good many years 00:08:34.40\00:08:37.37 >> Yeah. > and now he gets there and Joshua is no young. 00:08:37.40\00:08:39.40 >> No. > He's not a spring chicken either. He's quite 00:08:39.43\00:08:42.42 elderly at this time. >> That's right. > So, OK, now, where are 00:08:42.45\00:08:45.35 we at? We're... >> You're on verse 5. > Yep. 00:08:45.38\00:08:49.08 Now, this is after they've marched around on the 7th day, 00:08:52.68\00:08:56.58 that they do it. They... they blow the horns, they... they, 00:08:56.61\00:09:01.28 you know, they walk around the... Joshua, seven times, 00:09:01.31\00:09:05.10 then it said, 00:09:05.13\00:09:06.10 Now... I just have to be honest, to our viewers that... 00:09:17.51\00:09:24.90 I've never heard of such a thing, in... in... in the 00:09:24.93\00:09:28.90 army. >> Yeah. When I was in the army, I was in the 00:09:28.93\00:09:30.93 Special Forces. I mean - I mean, >> Yeah. >If they gave 00:09:30.96\00:09:33.81 an order. >> And when you went to war, they didn't 00:09:33.84\00:09:34.81 say, "Go get your trumpets. " > That's right. They said, 00:09:34.82\00:09:37.02 "Go get your gun," >> "Go get your gun. " > "go get your 00:09:37.05\00:09:38.78 knife. "I mean, they... they... they taught us in the service 00:09:38.81\00:09:41.53 how to kill and how to do different things when you're... 00:09:41.56\00:09:43.89 you're in battle but never, did my Captain say, "Dwight, go get 00:09:43.92\00:09:48.92 a trumpet. " For what? "Because I want you to blow it and then," 00:09:48.95\00:09:52.25 you know, "that's how... that's how we're going to chase our 00:09:52.28\00:09:53.86 enemies. " I mean, >> That's right. > That seems kind of 00:09:53.89\00:09:55.52 stupid to me. >> Well, it does. But, you know, another practical 00:09:55.55\00:09:58.99 I don't wanna miss, is, the fact that, when... when did... 00:09:59.02\00:10:04.03 when did Joshua get the victory? Before he went into battle. 00:10:04.06\00:10:08.32 >> Absolutely. And I... and I... and, you know, the Lord said, "I 00:10:08.35\00:10:11.89 have given you this the victory" and a lot of times, in our own 00:10:11.92\00:10:15.58 lives, the victory has already been given. We still got to go 00:10:15.61\00:10:19.40 through the process. When you have faith in Christ, he's 00:10:19.43\00:10:22.17 already given you the victory. > So, if he's already given us 00:10:22.20\00:10:25.09 the victory and it's not working then what's the problem? 00:10:25.12\00:10:26.19 >> Well, we're not listening very well. > Yeah, we're not 00:10:27.35\00:10:29.55 listening >> Yeah > and our faith is so weak. >> We're not 00:10:29.58\00:10:31.92 blowing a certain sound. > That's it, we are not blowing 00:10:31.95\00:10:34.18 >> on the trumpet > a certain sound, that's right. >> I think 00:10:34.21\00:10:35.35 that's - that's neat. > So, that's... that's tremendous. 00:10:35.38\00:10:39.46 So, it says, 00:10:39.49\00:10:40.46 In verse 5 00:10:42.18\00:10:43.15 And I think, isn't it amazing, Rudy, in this story that it 00:10:47.02\00:10:51.38 wasn't about just Joshua. It was about... at the end of this 00:10:51.41\00:10:55.80 blast of the trumpet, everyone needs to shout. >> That's right. 00:10:55.83\00:11:00.53 > It wasn't just 5 or 10 or the Captains. >> Right. > Or the men 00:11:00.56\00:11:03.72 of war. It was everyone shouts which means, everyone plays a 00:11:03.75\00:11:07.04 everyone plays a part in the salvation >> That's right. 00:11:07.07\00:11:09.08 of... of God and what he wants us to do. Anyway, I thought 00:11:09.11\00:11:13.37 that was good. >> That's very good. > It says, 00:11:13.40\00:11:15.79 So, this was before it ever happened, they have to have that 00:11:25.46\00:11:28.51 faith to do that and I know we're going to have to take a 00:11:28.54\00:11:31.42 break here but what... what can we say to recap this 00:11:31.45\00:11:34.79 practically? >> Well, to me personally, is, you know, listen 00:11:34.82\00:11:39.65 it... we've talked earlier about listening to God's still small 00:11:39.68\00:11:42.12 voice > Yes. >> and I mean, listen to God, you know, have 00:11:42.15\00:11:45.48 faith in his plan and then move forward. You know, you never get 00:11:45.51\00:11:49.13 anywhere, get into the car and say, "OK, here we go," and you 00:11:49.16\00:11:51.94 look in the rear view mirror. You'd... you'd crash every 00:11:51.97\00:11:54.33 time, you've gotta look forward > That's right. >> and... and 00:11:54.36\00:11:56.57 Joshua look forward in faith, not just here but from way back. 00:11:56.60\00:11:59.64 So, he was moving forward. The FDA report blamed numerous 00:14:05.40\00:14:08.90 potential causes, such as live flies and maggots, too 00:14:08.93\00:14:12.61 numerous to count, uncontained manure, 00:14:12.64\00:14:15.10 rodents and wild bird access to laying areas. Animal 00:14:15.13\00:14:19.54 feces and access to wildlife are normally the main 00:14:19.57\00:14:22.40 concern of Investigators looking for causes of an 00:14:22.43\00:14:25.88 outbreak, as illnesses such as Salmonella, originate from 00:14:25.91\00:14:29.30 feces. Ken Koelkebeck, an Extension Specialist with 00:14:29.33\00:14:33.35 the University of Illinois said, "What I hear described 00:14:33.38\00:14:36.63 as violations are, not really specific to the two Farms 00:14:36.66\00:14:40.18 only. This could happen on any Farm. " And it probably 00:14:40.21\00:14:43.34 does. God's counsel for the end of time is clear. The 00:14:43.37\00:14:47.28 Ministry of Healing, Page 320 says, "As disease in 00:14:47.31\00:14:50.40 animals increases, the use of milk and eggs will 00:14:50.43\00:14:53.42 become more and more unsafe. " I'm Hal Mayer 00:14:53.45\00:14:57.47 reminding you to keep the faith. 00:14:57.50\00:14:59.41 > Well, I'm glad that you're back. We're talking about Joshua 00:15:14.11\00:15:16.62 and Jericho and faith and how do we put that in our everyday 00:15:16.65\00:15:23.15 lives today. Rudy, you know, oh, and one more thing, if you 00:15:23.18\00:15:27.53 haven't opened your Bibles, get those Bibles out, open it to 00:15:27.56\00:15:30.73 Joshua Chapter 6 and we're going to read, right now, verse 10 but 00:15:30.76\00:15:35.92 Rudy, really when you have a leader that's filled with... 00:15:35.95\00:15:40.34 with God, filled with Christ, he's not depending upon himself. 00:15:40.37\00:15:45.36 Like I said, it wasn't about Joshua or Moses, it was about 00:15:45.39\00:15:47.35 God and following God and then it just seems like the fear is 00:15:47.38\00:15:51.45 it just seems like the fear is gone. I mean, it's... I'm... I'm 00:15:51.48\00:15:53.14 sure there might have been some trepidation but they trusted 00:15:53.17\00:15:57.39 fully in God. >> Well, they trusted in Joshua, as we talked 00:15:57.42\00:16:00.74 trusted in Joshua, as we talked about before, not only a man of 00:16:00.77\00:16:02.19 war but yet he was a man of faith > Amen. >> and regardless 00:16:02.22\00:16:05.57 of what... you know, this to me is a test. I mean, it didn't 00:16:05.60\00:16:09.00 make sense but what... what Joshua got out of it was, God 00:16:09.03\00:16:13.89 said it. > Yes. >>That's all he need. So, whether it made sense 00:16:13.92\00:16:17.18 to me or not, I'm going to follow His Word > Amen. > and 00:16:17.21\00:16:20.38 then we left the last... the last part of it where they was 00:16:20.41\00:16:24.02 going to walk... they had to walk around that city seven 00:16:24.05\00:16:26.84 times but the first six days, they walked around once and 00:16:26.87\00:16:31.18 the... the seventh day they walked around it seven times. 00:16:31.21\00:16:34.60 >> That's right. > Which, big deal. In other words, if you 00:16:34.63\00:16:38.42 just want to talk about it, it doesn't make a lot of sense, 00:16:38.45\00:16:40.51 why... why not seven times each day? Why seven times on the 00:16:40.54\00:16:44.56 seventh day or why not once on the first day, twice on the 00:16:44.59\00:16:48.14 second day, three times on the third day? But - but - it - 00:16:48.17\00:16:51.40 the bottom line is to follow God. We don't have to >> That's 00:16:51.43\00:16:53.92 > understand >> That's right >everything and then in verse 00:16:53.95\00:16:55.83 10, I thought this... this was good because the seventh day, 00:16:55.86\00:16:58.42 when they went around the seventh time, at the end they 00:16:58.45\00:17:01.23 were supposed to shout. Every one of them, they were all 00:17:01.26\00:17:03.96 involved, they had to... they all had to be a part of this. In 00:17:03.99\00:17:07.11 verse 10 though, it says, 00:17:07.14\00:17:08.11 >> Amen. > And... if you was on... in those walls or on the 00:17:23.65\00:17:29.13 walls looking down at the... at... at the Israelites walking 00:17:29.16\00:17:32.39 around the city not making a sound, I would wonder what's 00:17:32.42\00:17:37.40 going on. I mean, maybe you might make fun of them up in 00:17:37.43\00:17:39.86 the walls, "What are you all doing? That's pretty stupid" 00:17:39.89\00:17:41.72 but... >> I don't think they was making fun because... > OK. 00:17:41.75\00:17:44.81 >> why was the city secure? You know, the doors wasn't open, 00:17:44.84\00:17:48.89 they wasn't having a yard sale > No, that's for sure. 00:17:48.92\00:17:52.21 They... they was up... they was scared and so they... and they 00:17:52.24\00:17:55.86 knew the reputation, they knew they'd come through the Red Sea 00:17:55.89\00:17:58.39 but I'd like to back up just for a second here > OK. >> and I'm 00:17:58.42\00:18:03.00 taking it from... we've talked about faith > Yep. >> but 00:18:03.03\00:18:06.22 do you think that the people understood why they was supposed 00:18:06.25\00:18:10.70 to walk around it, not say a word. I don't... I don't think 00:18:10.73\00:18:14.24 so. I don't think they understood that process. Amen? 00:18:14.27\00:18:17.65 > I think... I think you're right. >> OK. > I think they 00:18:17.68\00:18:19.78 didn't. >> but they obeyed. OK, now let's take this back, do we 00:18:19.81\00:18:24.04 need to understand everything in God's Word, to obey God's Word? 00:18:24.07\00:18:28.90 > No. >> and... and to me that's a... that's a... a... a great 00:18:28.93\00:18:32.86 point. I mean, obedience, you can obey, without knowing, all 00:18:32.89\00:18:37.55 there is to know. > What >> God requires obedience even if we 00:18:37.58\00:18:41.43 don't have a full understanding. > That's right and I think... 00:18:41.46\00:18:45.34 in the Book of Samuel, that the Lord had told him >> Good 00:18:45.37\00:18:50.14 > it's better >>> to obey >> than to sacrifice. > than to 00:18:50.17\00:18:51.83 sacrifice and >> That's... that's right. > and when we love 00:18:51.86\00:18:53.92 Christ, we'll want to obey. >> It will be easy to obey. 00:18:53.95\00:18:56.93 > And we don't have to have all the answers. We just know that 00:18:56.96\00:18:59.18 if God said it, it's good enough for me. I don't have to say, 00:18:59.21\00:19:01.33 "Why?" all the time. >> Exactly. > I just need >> Exactly. > to 00:19:01.36\00:19:03.40 know that God did say it and we find it to the Word. >> So 00:19:03.43\00:19:05.76 you've got faith > tremendous >> and obedience. > Amen, 00:19:05.79\00:19:07.97 Amen, OK. You want to go with verse 11 or do you have a text 00:19:08.00\00:19:12.67 there? >> No. > that you wanna go over? >> No, Verse 11, 00:19:12.70\00:19:15.29 Can you imagine the ark... it seems to me from... if... if he 00:19:22.93\00:19:27.07 was a soldier that would be in the way. > Right. >> I mean, 00:19:27.10\00:19:30.67 unless it's filled with guns. > Yeah. >> or spears. I mean, 00:19:30.70\00:19:34.52 why have that out there? > Yes. >> I mean, once, again you don't 00:19:34.55\00:19:38.07 need to understand all these stuff to obey. So, I... I... I 00:19:38.10\00:19:41.93 just think that's... you know, God said it, you know, I believe 00:19:41.96\00:19:45.04 it, that's good enough > Amen and, you know, we know that the 00:19:45.07\00:19:48.67 Ark was very sacred. I mean, only the... that certain priest 00:19:48.70\00:19:53.56 could carry it but it's... it's amazing, nothing happened at the 00:19:53.59\00:19:59.23 Ark, at the end, the people shouted. >> That's right. 00:19:59.26\00:20:02.72 > And that, to think when you're saying, that, you know, in the 00:20:02.75\00:20:05.33 war time, they might had the Ark sitting somewhere but to have it 00:20:05.36\00:20:08.75 in the midst... maybe some of them were even 00:20:08.78\00:20:10.47 afraid that, "Hey, what if this doesn't work 00:20:10.50\00:20:11.96 and they take this Ark away?" >> That's right. > I mean, 00:20:11.99\00:20:14.23 you know, >> But what did it represents > each should be 00:20:14.26\00:20:15.56 here >> it represented God? > That's right. >> And so 00:20:15.59\00:20:18.23 There you go. >> God was going before them. > Yes. 00:20:18.26\00:20:20.06 >> And, once again, even if they didn't catch it all, you know, 00:20:20.09\00:20:23.70 they obeyed but I think that, you know, if you go down 00:20:23.73\00:20:26.54 and... and... and they... they did what they was supposed to 00:20:26.57\00:20:29.11 do, they marched around and verse 16 kinda picks it up and 00:20:29.14\00:20:33.48 it says, >OK. 00:20:33.51\00:20:34.48 > Wow! >> And this is before it fell. > Yeah. >> And... and he's 00:20:42.03\00:20:46.48 promised victory over the city. Verse 17 says, 00:20:46.51\00:20:50.55 And I just wandered if you had something on Rahab? 00:21:05.03\00:21:07.44 Did you want to make a comment on? > Well... I just 00:21:07.47\00:21:12.85 want to encourage the viewers, Rudy, today... about 00:21:12.88\00:21:15.86 Rahab. Rahab was harlot. Rahab wasn't even a practicing 00:21:15.89\00:21:21.34 Christian. She wasn't an Israelite and yet because of her 00:21:21.37\00:21:26.53 protecting those men when they came in as spies and she asked 00:21:26.54\00:21:30.54 to be saved. There was something, you... I... I just 00:21:30.57\00:21:33.88 love how God loves us so much, that he gave his only begotten 00:21:33.91\00:21:37.43 Son, >> Amen. > Christ. Then he gives His Holy Spirit. When 00:21:37.46\00:21:40.79 Jesus was on the Earth and he says, you know, "I'm gonna go 00:21:40.82\00:21:43.10 away and give you a greater gift, when I go," and that's The 00:21:43.13\00:21:46.21 Holy Spirit Holy Spirit because it convicts us of sin. It... 00:21:46.24\00:21:48.26 it... it works upon the mental mind and the front... the 00:21:48.29\00:21:51.48 frontal lobe here. It convicts us with our conscience and 00:21:51.51\00:21:54.73 here's this Rahab. I mean, there's not another person 00:21:54.76\00:21:58.83 mentioned in this city by name >> That's right. 00:21:58.86\00:22:01.43 > but Rahab is mentioned, she's a harlot. So to me, I... I just 00:22:01.46\00:22:05.05 want to encourage every viewer that's... that's watching, I 00:22:05.08\00:22:08.11 care what you've done, I don't care what's happened in your 00:22:08.14\00:22:10.81 life, God does love you. Now, there'll be a probation that 00:22:10.84\00:22:13.87 closes at some point in time. That's why we don't wanna put 00:22:13.90\00:22:16.31 off the calling of Jesus Christ. You know, Jesus says, "Today is 00:22:16.34\00:22:19.33 the accepted day of salvation. Now is the time, don't put it 00:22:19.36\00:22:22.93 off. " The thing with it, is, Rahab was worked upon by the 00:22:22.96\00:22:26.96 Holy Spirit and she accepted the call, she knew these men were 00:22:26.99\00:22:30.55 right and she said, "Yes, come in and I will hide you" and 00:22:30.58\00:22:34.44 then she said, "Would you save me?" And to me what a practical 00:22:34.47\00:22:38.76 experience. It's just a verse or two but God was true to his 00:22:38.79\00:22:42.08 promise and... and... and each one of us can be saved. It's 00:22:42.11\00:22:46.23 not... I don't... it's... it's not that we can't be saved, Rudy 00:22:46.26\00:22:49.67 it's that we choose not to be saved. >> Well, who came... who 00:22:49.70\00:22:53.85 came to Rahab? The spies. > Yes. >> The spies, but who do they 00:22:53.88\00:22:58.17 represent? They represented God > That's right. >> and so a lot 00:22:58.20\00:23:02.24 of times people say, "Well, God tells me this, I will do it. " 00:23:02.27\00:23:05.91 Well, God did tell Rahab through His people. >> That's right, 00:23:05.94\00:23:09.56 that's right. >> and > That's a good point. >> if he would've 00:23:09.59\00:23:10.91 said, "Well, that's fine spies, but if God tells me then, I will 00:23:10.94\00:23:16.88 do this " but God was telling her and when... when the Word of 00:23:16.91\00:23:20.88 the Lord came to her, even though it was through man, she 00:23:20.91\00:23:26.24 obeyed > That's right, she did it. >> and when they told her to 00:23:26.27\00:23:29.45 put this in her window and do this, do you think she said, 00:23:29.48\00:23:32.27 "Oh, I think I'll... I think, maybe it'll look better on the 00:23:32.30\00:23:34.74 side of the bed. " > Yeah. >> Or, "I think it would look 00:23:34.77\00:23:36.87 better over here. " No, she... if she wouldn't have obeyed 00:23:36.90\00:23:39.52 either, then what would her faith been? > She would've been 00:23:39.55\00:23:43.14 lost. >> She would've been lost but... but she listened and she 00:23:43.17\00:23:46.64 obeyed and she followed through > And... > and her family. > and 00:23:46.67\00:23:50.69 God honors those that honor >> Absolutely. Honors him. 00:23:50.72\00:23:53.38 > And, you know, again, I... I always try to put it in, you 00:23:53.41\00:23:57.69 know, what if I was there? Had it not worked out, had they 00:23:57.72\00:24:02.57 caught her, she would've been killed >> That's right, that's 00:24:02.60\00:24:05.83 right. > but there was something about Rahab, it's not about the 00:24:05.86\00:24:09.46 act, that she had done so much, as, God has a plan for each one 00:24:09.49\00:24:13.31 of us. It's a journey. >> He knew her heart too. > Yeah, 00:24:13.34\00:24:15.82 and - and... and we're born and we die and we have that 00:24:15.85\00:24:19.76 sanctification, we have that journey in between birth and 00:24:19.79\00:24:23.96 death and at the end we need to be committed to 00:24:23.99\00:24:27.51 Christ We need to be committed every day but 00:24:27.54\00:24:29.53 we're growing in Christ and there was something there 00:24:29.56\00:24:31.23 that Rahab, obviously, we don't know in the story, 00:24:31.26\00:24:33.42 that had a longing to do what was right because I don't 00:24:33.45\00:24:36.33 believe she just switched overnight. She had this longing, 00:24:36.36\00:24:39.18 she might have got caught up in sin but when those spies came, 00:24:39.21\00:24:42.39 the truth rang through to her and she... and like you said, 00:24:42.42\00:24:45.76 she obeyed and was saved. >> And after the people left, after the 00:24:45.79\00:24:50.03 spies left, you know, a lot of times, you know, there's no 00:24:50.06\00:24:52.87 atheist in fox holes > Right, right. >> and, you know, she's 00:24:52.90\00:24:55.68 scared and all that but then... then they left she followed 00:24:55.71\00:24:58.28 through anyways and I just think that's, you know, so important 00:24:58.31\00:25:02.58 and as we read on here, you know, it says that, you know, 00:25:02.61\00:25:07.27 in... we read verse 17 but verse 18 says, 00:25:07.30\00:25:10.38 >> In other words, they had... they had orders to do prior to 00:25:18.32\00:25:24.48 battle > Yes. >> and during battle and after battle and 00:25:24.51\00:25:29.55 they was told what to do and what not to do and it wasn't 00:25:29.58\00:25:32.42 that difficult. > So, do you think, making that practical, 00:25:32.45\00:25:35.96 that God has a plan? >> Absolutely. > Before we find 00:25:35.99\00:25:39.00 him, >> Yeah. > when we find him, during the time that we're 00:25:39.03\00:25:43.16 living and even afterward. >> Absolutely and after it fell, 00:25:43.19\00:25:46.48 I mean, that represents the time of ease and we need to be 00:25:46.51\00:25:49.34 obedient in time of trouble but not forget it, after the... the 00:25:49.37\00:25:53.34 crisis is over. > Yeah. >> So, many times, "Lord, if you just 00:25:53.37\00:25:55.69 help me through this. " You know, "if you just make these 00:25:55.72\00:25:58.08 walls come down and in practical life, no matter how 00:25:58.11\00:26:01.78 high walls of troubles or strife are, they can fall flat in an 00:26:01.81\00:26:07.66 instant, if we have faith in Christ > That's right. >> and 00:26:07.69\00:26:10.59 so those... those are practical lessons that you can take home 00:26:10.62\00:26:14.05 from this. > Absolutely and... and... and one more thing and 00:26:14.08\00:26:17.01 boy! Time is almost over, I can't believe it but, you know, 00:26:17.04\00:26:20.32 can't believe it but, you know, on verse 16 again, Rudy >>All 00:26:20.35\00:26:22.06 right. > and we'll leave it at verse 16. >> All right. 00:26:22.09\00:26:23.58 > It says, 00:26:23.61\00:26:24.58 With an exclamation mark and what I think is so neat, that 00:26:31.31\00:26:35.05 they blew the trumpets but those walls never came down until 00:26:35.08\00:26:38.34 the people shouted. >> That's right. > You know, we look at... 00:26:38.37\00:26:41.44 we... we look at Moses and he led those children to the... to 00:26:41.47\00:26:46.36 the sea and until they went down to it, that's when the sea 00:26:46.39\00:26:49.52 parted. >> That's right. >When they got down 00:26:49.55\00:26:51.58 after the 40 years and was going over to the Promised 00:26:51.61\00:26:53.42 Land, they actually had to put their feet into the 00:26:53.45\00:26:55.19 water before the Jordan parted and so today, don't think that 00:26:55.22\00:27:00.90 God's gonna work everything out in your life and there's 00:27:00.93\00:27:03.03 gonna be no doubt, I always tell people, you know, if you 00:27:03.06\00:27:05.84 think about doubt long enough, that room of doubt gets mighty 00:27:05.87\00:27:08.14 big, you can't even see across the end of that room of doubt, 00:27:08.17\00:27:11.14 so you must take it by faith, know what God's called you to do 00:27:11.17\00:27:14.29 to his Word. Do it, by faith and God will honor that and those 00:27:14.32\00:27:18.04 walls will go flat. >> Absolutely. > We've got to go 00:27:18.07\00:27:20.47 >> Amen. > but until next time, you get in those scriptures 00:27:20.50\00:27:25.12 pray, God will answer those prayers and that we'd 00:27:25.15\00:27:28.82 like to hear about that.
