Hello and welcome to a Special Edition of 00:00:17.22\00:00:20.32 Bible Alive 00:00:20.35\00:00:21.32 I'm so glad you're here with us today. You know today we're 00:00:21.33\00:00:23.96 going to look at how Bible prophecy is being fulfilled 00:00:23.99\00:00:27.07 in the times that we are living in and 00:00:27.10\00:00:29.50 Pastor Hal Mayor 00:00:29.53\00:00:30.50 a great friend of mine with Keep the Faith Ministries 00:00:30.51\00:00:32.55 has a special report on events that are transpiring in our 00:00:32.58\00:00:36.02 daily lives today, right around the World, probably in our 00:00:36.05\00:00:39.11 backyards and how they relate to Bible prophecy. 00:00:39.14\00:00:41.61 Let's go right now to our new set for Prophecy Now with 00:00:41.64\00:00:45.96 Pastor Hal Mayor 00:00:45.99\00:00:46.96 Welcome to Prophecy Now. 00:00:49.97\00:00:51.67 I'm Hal Mayor. 00:00:51.70\00:00:52.67 Our first topic today is the Worldwide Economic Crisis. 00:00:52.68\00:00:56.70 The American economy is in deep trouble and this affects most 00:00:56.73\00:01:01.38 other parts of the World. 00:01:01.41\00:01:02.63 Let's take a look at what some Americans are saying about the 00:01:02.66\00:01:05.85 state of the economy. 00:01:05.88\00:01:06.90 "Because of the economy, our company has done some cut backs" 00:01:06.93\00:01:10.41 "It's rough with everything. The gas prices going up. " 00:01:10.44\00:01:14.18 "It's made things a struggle, I have 5 kids at home uhm 00:01:14.21\00:01:18.27 you know jobs are harder to find. " 00:01:18.30\00:01:20.16 "Oh, my Grandfather doesn't have as much work because of the 00:01:20.19\00:01:23.29 economy. " 00:01:23.32\00:01:24.29 "I have several friends and- and family that are without jobs 00:01:24.30\00:01:27.48 here in Michigan. " 00:01:27.51\00:01:28.48 "There's so much that just needs to be changed with the way they- 00:01:28.49\00:01:33.52 they're handling the economy. " 00:01:33.55\00:01:35.87 "Uhm, there's plenty of blame to share but the cold fact that 00:01:35.90\00:01:39.78 we continue to want to win at any cost is driving the market 00:01:39.81\00:01:46.41 bus- the market is being driven today. " 00:01:46.44\00:01:48.75 "Not many people are buying houses because they don't have 00:01:48.78\00:01:51.05 very much money and jobs you know, so my Dad had to uhm get 00:01:51.08\00:01:56.98 a trucking job. So now he's away from Home most of the week. Now 00:01:57.01\00:01:59.53 I get to see him on weekends and with his other job, he came home 00:01:59.56\00:02:02.81 in the evenings. He could be with us but with this job he 00:02:02.84\00:02:06.63 doesn't get to be with us very much. that's the way the 00:02:06.66\00:02:08.47 economy has affected me. " 00:02:08.50\00:02:09.47 "Work, we hit a pinnacle and we kind of got blind-sided and no 00:02:09.48\00:02:13.88 one thought to go out and say, "Hey, you know what this is 00:02:13.91\00:02:16.07 going to go down at some point in time and guess what? 00:02:16.10\00:02:18.28 It has. " 00:02:18.31\00:02:19.28 Americans wealth shrank between April and June 2010 00:02:19.29\00:02:23.25 for the first time since early 2009. The Federal Reserve, 00:02:23.28\00:02:27.78 the US Central Bank says, "Household net worth fell 2.7% 00:02:27.81\00:02:33.72 or $1.5 trillion. The decline left Americans net worth at 00:02:33.75\00:02:39.95 $53.5 trillion. Net worth is the value of assets such as Homes, 00:02:39.98\00:02:46.13 checking accounts and investments minus debts like 00:02:46.16\00:02:49.60 mortgages and credit cards and before last quarter's decline 00:02:49.63\00:02:53.50 net worth had been growing slowly for 4 straight quarters. 00:02:53.53\00:02:57.82 Americans net worth would have to rise an additional 00:02:57.85\00:03:01.40 23% to return to its pre-recession peak of $65.8 00:03:01.43\00:03:06.65 trillion. Also from January through June 2010, the majority 00:03:06.68\00:03:12.54 of employee requests for assistance in the United States 00:03:12.57\00:03:15.71 has shifted from child care to housing, for the first time 00:03:15.74\00:03:19.83 in history. The requests stem from moving related needs 00:03:19.86\00:03:24.53 such as finding an apartment. Two thirds of those seeking 00:03:24.56\00:03:28.23 an apartment were foreclosure related. There's a huge housing 00:03:28.26\00:03:33.50 dislocation going on. Demand for rental apartments for the 00:03:33.53\00:03:37.78 first half of 2010 was stunning, according to a recent report, 00:03:37.81\00:03:42.11 at 215,000 units and the demand is expected to increase to 00:03:42.14\00:03:48.52 300,000 by the end of the year. In August 42% of the unemployed 00:03:48.55\00:03:55.75 had been without a job for more than half a year and that is 00:03:55.78\00:03:58.69 up from 33% last year. America has changed dramatically in 00:03:58.72\00:04:04.21 just 2 years and is quite different than it was in 2008. 00:04:04.24\00:04:07.36 If the job market continues the way it is for a protracted 00:04:07.39\00:04:11.92 period of time serious consequences will develop. 00:04:11.95\00:04:15.30 There is a growing sense of uncertainty and even despair. 00:04:15.33\00:04:18.85 Americans have nearly stopped buying expensive cars, houses 00:04:18.88\00:04:22.83 and durable goods. Homes are for sale but few people 00:04:22.86\00:04:27.32 are buying them. Hundreds of thousands of households are 00:04:27.35\00:04:30.61 in survival mode, buying only that which they absolutely 00:04:30.64\00:04:34.16 need. The decline is probable in many areas. 00:04:34.19\00:04:38.18 But America is not the only place in the World with major 00:04:38.21\00:04:41.51 problems. According to Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the Head of the 00:04:41.54\00:04:45.60 International Monetary Fund or the IMF, 00:04:45.63\00:04:48.25 "Global labor markets 00:04:48.28\00:04:49.55 are in dire straits and the great recession has left behind 00:04:49.58\00:04:54.26 a wasteland of unemployment. " Strauss-Kahn sees social unrest 00:04:54.29\00:04:59.51 in the future, as people lose faith in Public Institutions. 00:04:59.54\00:05:03.08 At a Labor Summit in Oslo, he said that he thinks, "A double- 00:05:03.11\00:05:07.36 dip recession remains unlikely but stressed that the World 00:05:07.39\00:05:11.95 has not yet escaped a deeper social crisis. He called it, 00:05:11.98\00:05:16.15 "A grave error to think that the West was safe again 00:05:16.18\00:05:19.27 after teetering so close to the abyss last year. " 00:05:19.30\00:05:22.80 "We are not safe," he said. A report of the Joint Summit of 00:05:22.83\00:05:27.67 the International Labor Organization and the 00:05:27.70\00:05:29.84 International Monetary Fund, said that,"30 million jobs 00:05:29.87\00:05:34.13 had been lost since the crisis began. Three quarters of them 00:05:34.16\00:05:37.93 in wealthier economies. " 00:05:37.96\00:05:39.53 "The great recession has left gaping wounds. 00:05:39.56\00:05:42.92 High and long-lasting unemployment represents a 00:05:42.95\00:05:46.66 risk to the stability of existing democracies," the 00:05:46.69\00:05:50.30 reports said. 00:05:50.33\00:05:51.36 Spain has 20% unemployment. The US has between 9 and 10% 00:05:51.39\00:05:58.01 of unemployment. 2.8 million people are without jobs in the 00:05:58.04\00:06:02.92 United Kingdom alone. Other Western nations are in similar 00:06:02.95\00:06:07.70 condition. The study presented at the Labor Summit in Oslo, 00:06:07.73\00:06:11.67 cited evidence that victims of recession in their early 20s 00:06:11.70\00:06:15.09 suffer lifetime damage and lose faith in Public Institutions. 00:06:15.12\00:06:19.98 "Historians say the last time that the wealth gap reached 00:06:20.01\00:06:23.85 such skewed extremes was in 1928 and 1929," said Ambrose 00:06:23.88\00:06:29.00 Evans-Pritchard of the UK Telegraph which was at the time 00:06:29.03\00:06:32.94 of the Great Depression. 00:06:32.97\00:06:33.94 Financial insecurity and despair could well lead to 00:06:33.95\00:06:37.41 considerable civil unrest in Western Countries. People who 00:06:37.44\00:06:41.16 feel cheated out of their reasonable expectations can 00:06:41.19\00:06:44.59 become violent, particularly against those whom they think 00:06:44.62\00:06:48.17 should have saved them from catastrophe or whom they 00:06:48.20\00:06:51.71 perceive as the cause of the problem. 00:06:51.74\00:06:54.00 Jesus said that at the end of time that on Earth there would 00:06:55.08\00:06:58.44 be distressive Nations with perplexity, the sea and the 00:06:58.47\00:07:02.72 waves roaring. In other words, Jesus was predicting various 00:07:02.75\00:07:06.65 types of distress including economic distress of many 00:07:06.68\00:07:10.31 Nations. Seas in Bible prophecy involve multitudes of people. 00:07:10.34\00:07:14.94 Jesus was also predicting social unrest. 00:07:14.97\00:07:18.16 Today many are perplexed and restless. They don't know what 00:07:18.19\00:07:22.62 to do and are increasingly frustrated. As the Holy Spirit 00:07:22.65\00:07:26.77 gradually is withdrawn, expect to see increasing violence, 00:07:26.80\00:07:31.00 especially in the large cities. 00:07:31.03\00:07:32.98 Could the global economic problem eventually he blamed on 00:07:33.01\00:07:38.08 the lack of attention to religious and spiritual matters 00:07:38.11\00:07:41.42 and directed against those who resist or disobey laws 00:07:41.45\00:07:44.58 designed to bring the Nations back to God? 00:07:44.61\00:07:47.02 The signs of the times reveal that what the Bible prophesied 00:07:47.05\00:07:51.67 for the last days is absolutely true. 00:07:51.70\00:07:54.51 Do you think Jesus is coming soon? 00:07:54.54\00:07:56.99 Hi. I'm Larry and I want to share something with you 00:07:59.03\00:08:01.08 that comes straight from Remnant Publications 00:08:01.11\00:08:03.47 and I am excited about it because it helped strengthened 00:08:03.50\00:08:05.88 my walk with God in a huge way and I know it will help you 00:08:05.91\00:08:09.09 too and it's this new Apple iPod. 00:08:09.12\00:08:11.27 It comes preloaded with a huge selection of 00:08:11.30\00:08:14.44 Remnants Audio Books. Books like "Desire of Ages," 00:08:14.47\00:08:17.41 "Great Controversy" and "Steps To Christ" 00:08:17.44\00:08:19.32 and it comes with the entire Testimonies for the Church Set 00:08:19.35\00:08:22.73 preloaded, right on there. Let's take a closer look. 00:08:22.76\00:08:25.46 For 25 years, I've had such a burden to get people to get 00:08:25.49\00:08:30.19 truth filled Books in their Homes and I'm excited that 00:08:30.22\00:08:33.08 Remnant Publications now has Books on Audio and you 00:08:33.11\00:08:37.12 know what? You can listen to them in an airplane, you can 00:08:37.15\00:08:39.44 listen to them when you're driving to work and in fact 00:08:39.47\00:08:41.53 I was just talking to a good friend of mine, that told me 00:08:41.56\00:08:44.39 this, "Dwight, I just take my truck and I listen as I go 00:08:44.42\00:08:48.09 to work and when I shut off the truck, it's the first time 00:08:48.12\00:08:50.87 in years that I can remember, that I'd like to stay in the 00:08:50.90\00:08:53.14 truck and just keep listening to them. " Now as never before 00:08:53.17\00:08:56.58 people don't have to put it off, they can get the message, 00:08:56.61\00:08:59.60 the Word of God from their head to their heart. 00:08:59.63\00:09:02.38 As small as these iPods are, you'll be amazed at the quality 00:09:02.41\00:09:05.59 of sound that comes from them. We've taken extreme care 00:09:05.62\00:09:08.35 in making these audio files as true to their original quality 00:09:08.38\00:09:11.79 as possible. From the voices that you hear reading 00:09:11.82\00:09:14.29 everything, to the music and the sounds that you hear are just 00:09:14.32\00:09:17.49 as beautiful as they should sound. 00:09:17.52\00:09:19.44 Not only is the iPod easy to use but you can also do so 00:09:19.47\00:09:23.79 much more than a regular MP3 Player. 00:09:23.82\00:09:26.37 You can load it with iPod Apps, Calendars, Calculators, text 00:09:26.40\00:09:31.59 versions of Bibles and you can put all sorts of Apps. 00:09:31.62\00:09:34.13 The sky's the limit. I have to admit that I thought 00:09:34.16\00:09:36.96 that there would be many who are intimidated by Technology 00:09:36.99\00:09:40.14 that would be afraid to try this new tool but when people 00:09:40.17\00:09:43.53 see how easy it is to use, they typically end up a happy user. 00:09:43.56\00:09:47.24 Usually they take it out of the box, plug in your 00:09:47.27\00:09:49.75 headphones, go into the book you want to read and you're 00:09:49.78\00:09:52.57 listening. 00:09:52.60\00:09:53.57 It really is that easy. 00:09:53.58\00:09:55.12 We realize there is some people 00:09:55.15\00:09:57.54 who already have their own iPods or MP3 Players and that's 00:09:57.57\00:10:01.06 also why we have also made these Books available on 00:10:01.09\00:10:03.25 Flash Drives, like this one. People can easily copy the 00:10:03.28\00:10:06.40 files from this small drive to their own MP3 Player. 00:10:06.43\00:10:09.50 I am so excited about this new technology but it's not the 00:10:10.78\00:10:14.86 technology that makes it so special, like Mom used to say, 00:10:14.89\00:10:17.94 "It's what's on the inside that matters most" and this iPod is 00:10:17.97\00:10:20.72 no exception. check this out. 00:10:20.75\00:10:22.18 The new fully loaded iPod has 00:10:38.00\00:10:39.63 been such a blessing to me and many others and Remnant 00:10:39.66\00:10:42.88 wants it to be a blessing to you too. 00:10:42.91\00:10:44.52 You can have all this in your daily devotions to prepare you 00:10:45.12\00:10:48.43 and your Family for the Second Coming. 00:10:48.46\00:10:50.47 Be equipped to face the future with God's powerful message 00:10:50.50\00:10:55.34 of faith and hope for today. 00:10:55.37\00:10:57.56 Man! what a great day to share some Books. 00:11:01.20\00:11:03.24 One of the biggest problems that people make when they go out 00:11:08.81\00:11:11.16 to share books, that they try to share who many, too soon. 00:11:11.19\00:11:14.30 What we need to do is set some goals for ourselves. 00:11:14.33\00:11:17.75 Now for some, setting the goal of sharing a book a day is a 00:11:24.09\00:11:27.67 great way to start and we think that's a tremendous idea. One 00:11:27.70\00:11:31.46 book a day. Now you can work your way up from there but 00:11:31.49\00:11:34.57 start simple, don't overwhelm yourself and make it a point 00:11:34.60\00:11:38.13 not to let one day go by without sharing a book. 00:11:38.16\00:11:44.23 So now that we have a goal of a book a day, let's talk about 00:11:44.26\00:11:48.26 the type of book we share. We want to make sure that we are 00:11:48.29\00:11:50.43 armed with the most effective books, so that people will take 00:11:50.46\00:11:53.65 the books we leave with them and read them. Now, some people 00:11:53.68\00:11:57.08 have the mentality that because we're giving these books away, 00:11:57.11\00:11:59.39 let's use the cheapest old book we have lying around. 00:11:59.42\00:12:02.81 Well, that may be true to a point. We don't want to spend 00:12:02.84\00:12:07.45 too much on books that we're giving away, so we can give 00:12:07.48\00:12:09.52 more away but our goal isn't just to get books in people's 00:12:09.55\00:12:14.32 hands. we want them to actually read the books we leave and 00:12:14.35\00:12:17.72 some people take books that are so torn up and chewed up that 00:12:17.75\00:12:21.08 when people receive them, they may receive them with a smile 00:12:21.11\00:12:23.75 but the next thing you know, they are throwing them in the 00:12:23.78\00:12:25.57 trash can and they never do read your book. Thankfully 00:12:25.60\00:12:29.16 Remnant Publications provide books that will address both 00:12:29.19\00:12:31.16 your wallet and still provide excellent quality books that 00:12:31.19\00:12:34.57 will entice people to open them and read the truth contained 00:12:34.60\00:12:37.12 within. Now the first thing you want to look for in a good book 00:12:37.15\00:12:41.14 is a nice cover. You take the cover on this book, 00:12:41.17\00:12:44.22 "American Prophesy" by Remnant. Now, there's a 00:12:44.25\00:12:46.63 couple things about this. First, it's eye-catching. 00:12:46.66\00:12:48.88 Now I know you've heard ahh that you shouldn't judge a book 00:12:48.91\00:12:51.87 by its cover but the reality is most people do and if the 00:12:51.90\00:12:55.00 entices them, they want to look inside. The next thing 00:12:55.03\00:12:57.93 you want to do is take a look inside the book. Make sure 00:12:57.96\00:13:01.20 your paper is a nice bright white, it makes a clear 00:13:01.23\00:13:04.85 contrast in the book and it makes the reading easier on 00:13:04.88\00:13:08.17 the eyes. Notice also the font type, ahh some people try to 00:13:08.20\00:13:11.95 save money by printing in a smaller font, that we you can 00:13:11.98\00:13:14.73 print a book in fewer pages but it makes it harder to read. 00:13:14.76\00:13:18.23 You take a book like this one here and it's printed on what's 00:13:18.88\00:13:21.85 commonly called newsprint. It's a yellowish paper and the 00:13:21.88\00:13:25.65 writing doesn't stick out well and you notice the font size, 00:13:25.68\00:13:28.54 is very small. It's just not a book that people will typically 00:13:28.57\00:13:31.81 want to read. Another thing is you want to make sure the book 00:13:31.84\00:13:34.47 opens easily. Some books like this one, spring back, you try 00:13:34.50\00:13:38.83 to open it, it shuts on you. It won't stay open as you read 00:13:38.86\00:13:40.92 it but if you take a book with a good binding, it will open up 00:13:40.95\00:13:44.59 easier. All of these things make a book easier to read and more 00:13:44.62\00:13:48.72 likely that somebody will read them. 00:13:48.75\00:13:50.12 Now, most importantly, whatever book you're sharing, whatever 00:13:50.15\00:13:54.46 person you're sharing with, you want to ask the guide to 00:13:54.49\00:13:57.35 the Holy Spirit to direct you in selecting the right book for 00:13:57.38\00:14:00.34 the right person at the right time. 00:14:00.37\00:14:02.46 And now that year equipped with the right tools, you can join us 00:14:04.97\00:14:08.80 to reach the World, one Book at a time. 00:14:08.83\00:14:11.36 The cities are a special target in the last days. According to 00:14:17.86\00:14:21.46 the Bible there will be an increase in natural disasters 00:14:21.49\00:14:24.34 in tandem with exceeding wickedness of the cities. 00:14:24.37\00:14:27.70 Jesus said that the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah were 00:14:27.73\00:14:31.72 examples for our times and of the future destruction that 00:14:31.75\00:14:35.29 will come upon the Cities of the World. 00:14:35.32\00:14:36.80 On December 26, 2004, the city of Aceh Banda, 00:14:36.83\00:14:42.23 Indonesia was destroyed by an earthquake, but the 00:14:42.26\00:14:45.96 Tsunami that follow it destroyed small cities and 00:14:45.99\00:14:49.45 towns in a dramatic sweep around the Indian Ocean. 00:14:49.48\00:14:53.07 Killing over 200,000 people. But in recent times there 00:14:53.10\00:14:57.86 have been a series of rolling disasters, especially 00:14:57.89\00:15:01.33 earthquakes that have focused World attention on 00:15:01.36\00:15:04.30 the cities once again. The catastrophic earthquake that 00:15:04.33\00:15:07.82 rocked Haiti on January 12, 2010 was unprecedented in 00:15:07.85\00:15:13.49 its destruction and the misery that it caused. More 00:15:13.52\00:15:16.93 than 220,000 men, women and children lost their lives 00:15:16.96\00:15:22.27 in the afternoon quake. At least 300,000 were injured, 00:15:22.30\00:15:26.42 and millions were left homeless. The shallowness of 00:15:26.45\00:15:30.55 the quake, only 8 miles deep, and the poor construction 00:15:30.58\00:15:33.86 methods used in buildings, made Haiti's massive 00:15:33.89\00:15:37.05 casualties inevitable. Haiti was a disaster waiting to 00:15:37.08\00:15:41.17 happen. 00:15:41.20\00:15:42.17 Haiti's fragile and poorly designed infrastructure was 00:15:42.18\00:15:45.60 virtually destroyed. Water, sewer, some roads, 00:15:45.63\00:15:49.19 electricity, telephone and other communication 00:15:49.22\00:15:52.37 systems were essentially knocked out or severely 00:15:52.40\00:15:55.61 damaged and unusable bringing the Nation to a 00:15:55.64\00:15:59.65 standstill. 00:15:59.68\00:16:00.72 Then on February 27, 2010 an 8.8 magnitude earthquake 00:16:00.75\00:16:06.76 struck off the coast of Chile followed by a deadly 00:16:06.79\00:16:10.80 Tsunami. This quake was almost 22 miles deep, but still 00:16:10.83\00:16:15.24 1.5 million homes were damaged or destroyed, and 00:16:15.27\00:16:19.71 between $15 billion and $30 billion in damage was done. 00:16:19.74\00:16:24.03 The city of Talcahuano was hit hard by a triple tsunami 00:16:24.06\00:16:28.55 generating massive waves 18 feet or larger. Close to 80 00:16:28.58\00:16:34.12 percent of Talcahuano's 180,000 people are homeless, 00:16:34.15\00:16:38.13 with 10,000 homes uninhabitable and hundreds 00:16:38.16\00:16:42.26 more destroyed, the Mayor said, "The port is destroyed. 00:16:42.29\00:16:46.05 The streets, collapsed. City buildings, destroyed" 00:16:46.08\00:16:49.13 Then on April 14, the Icelandic Volcano erupted 00:16:49.16\00:16:52.63 spewing an ash cloud all over most of Europe, shutting 00:16:52.66\00:16:56.48 down air travel for a six day period between April 15 and 00:16:56.51\00:17:00.56 20. The main focus of the news was on the distress of 00:17:00.59\00:17:04.46 Nations as business people and holiday makers were 00:17:04.49\00:17:07.75 stranded all over the World. But the hidden story is that 00:17:07.78\00:17:11.76 of other essential services and supplies. 00:17:11.79\00:17:13.99 The Icelandic volcano and its aftermath provide a 00:17:14.02\00:17:17.96 revealing insight into the fragility of advanced 00:17:17.99\00:17:21.15 interconnected societies and their utter dependence on 00:17:21.18\00:17:25.05 nature's good will. Manufactured goods, 00:17:25.08\00:17:28.64 pharmaceuticals and other critical freight stacked up in 00:17:28.67\00:17:32.42 warehouses around the World waiting for flights to 00:17:32.45\00:17:35.42 take them to their intended destinations. Fresh produce 00:17:35.45\00:17:39.06 for European markets rotted in the packing houses in 00:17:39.09\00:17:43.11 Africa. 00:17:43.14\00:17:44.11 The problem for modern advanced societies is that 00:17:44.12\00:17:47.50 they are utterly dependent on airfreight for "just-in- 00:17:47.53\00:17:51.00 time" supply chain logistics. These supply chains enable 00:17:51.03\00:17:55.90 the delivery of perishable consumer goods or 00:17:55.93\00:17:58.87 components critical to manufacturing processes 00:17:58.90\00:18:01.48 very close to when they are actually going to be used. 00:18:01.51\00:18:04.75 The more globalization there is, the more vulnerable cities 00:18:04.78\00:18:09.10 are to the disruptions, and the more difficult it is to 00:18:09.13\00:18:12.57 manage them and recover from them. Huge cities, 00:18:12.60\00:18:15.76 dependent on outside goods for survival of millions of 00:18:15.79\00:18:19.23 residents, can become crippled very quickly when 00:18:19.26\00:18:22.52 there is a major disaster, fuel shortages, or other 00:18:22.55\00:18:25.78 breakdowns. When these supply chains are unhinged, 00:18:25.81\00:18:28.71 dependent businesses, and hundreds of thousands, even 00:18:28.74\00:18:32.59 millions of people are affected. 00:18:32.62\00:18:34.45 Imagine what would have happened if Europe's air 00:18:34.48\00:18:38.04 traffic would have been grounded for another week 00:18:38.07\00:18:41.00 or two because of a persistent volcano. 00:18:41.03\00:18:43.64 As we near the close of probation, and as natural 00:18:43.67\00:18:47.35 disasters become more powerful and destructive as 00:18:47.38\00:18:50.71 predicted in prophecy, the human toll, and the stress on 00:18:50.74\00:18:54.98 these societies is likely to be substantial. As populations 00:18:55.01\00:18:58.93 have concentrated in large cities and become globally 00:18:58.96\00:19:02.17 interdependent, it is not difficult to imagine the 00:19:02.20\00:19:05.51 catastrophic consequences of globalization should a 00:19:05.54\00:19:09.43 natural disaster disrupt supply chains to these large 00:19:09.46\00:19:12.81 societies. A well-placed disaster can very quickly 00:19:12.84\00:19:17.27 disintegrate even a highly developed social 00:19:17.30\00:19:20.20 infrastructure because these social ecosystems are actually 00:19:20.23\00:19:25.23 quite fragile. 00:19:25.26\00:19:26.50 While the earthquake that devastated most of Port-au- 00:19:26.53\00:19:30.40 Prince, Haiti was an example of this effect on a single large 00:19:30.43\00:19:34.61 City, the Icelandic volcano suggest a similar potential 00:19:34.64\00:19:39.15 impact on a very large interdependent society. 00:19:39.18\00:19:42.92 On Saturday September 4, a 7.0 earthquake hit 00:19:42.95\00:19:48.74 Christchurch New Zealand destroying about 500 00:19:48.77\00:19:52.26 buildings and causing between $2 and $4 billion in 00:19:52.29\00:19:56.20 damage. The earth moved 11 feet sideways. Buildings had 00:19:56.23\00:20:00.85 been built to minimize casualties in such a quake, 00:20:00.88\00:20:03.92 which yielded no casualties. We have seen a series of 00:20:03.95\00:20:08.46 natural disasters in quick succession roll across the 00:20:08.49\00:20:12.18 World in recent times affecting large cities and 00:20:12.21\00:20:15.86 whole societies. 00:20:15.89\00:20:16.86 The Cities at the end of time are death traps. Imagine if 00:20:16.87\00:20:21.38 multiple natural disasters simultaneously disrupted the 00:20:21.41\00:20:25.02 social fabric of a large number of mega-cities. If 00:20:25.05\00:20:29.12 there are prolonged fuel shortages or food shortages, 00:20:29.15\00:20:32.29 people living in them could panic. Soon food would be 00:20:32.32\00:20:36.50 stripped from the shelves of shopping centers and 00:20:36.53\00:20:38.93 supermarkets. The human suffering, violence and other 00:20:38.96\00:20:42.18 socially destabilizing difficulties would be very 00:20:42.21\00:20:45.47 dramatic. 00:20:45.50\00:20:46.47 As the book says that in the last days there will be wars 00:20:46.48\00:20:50.59 and rumors of wars. 00:20:50.62\00:20:51.71 So in order for the Bible's writings to come true, uhm 00:20:51.74\00:20:55.73 these things have to take place. 00:20:55.76\00:20:56.88 Definitely some, serious warnings signs with all the 00:20:56.91\00:21:00.29 natural disasters and uhm it's kind of going right along 00:21:00.32\00:21:04.45 with the- the timeline that they give you in the book of 00:21:04.48\00:21:06.51 Revelations if you start comparing stuff so 00:21:06.54\00:21:09.15 Definitely uhm definitely scary but at the same point 00:21:09.18\00:21:13.27 You know 00:21:13.30\00:21:14.27 if you truly are a Christian uhm it's not quite so scary. 00:21:14.28\00:21:17.07 Jesus told Lot when he was put out of Sodom, "Escape 00:21:19.61\00:21:23.30 for thy life. " "Flee to the mountain. " That counsel is 00:21:23.33\00:21:26.94 certainly applicable today. 00:21:26.97\00:21:29.14 That's it, for this Edition of Prophecy Now. 00:21:30.17\00:21:32.37 I'm Hal Mayer reminding you to 00:21:32.40\00:21:35.04 Keep the Faith! 00:21:35.07\00:21:36.04 Hey I'm Larry, and today we want to give you an inside look 00:21:50.17\00:21:53.02 at what happens at Remnant Publications. We're going to 00:21:53.05\00:21:55.42 start with Steve in the Shipping Department. You ready? Let's 00:21:55.45\00:21:57.79 go! 00:21:57.82\00:21:58.79 Steve has been working in the Remnant Shipping Department 00:21:58.80\00:22:00.79 for about four years now. There's are a lot of books at 00:22:00.82\00:22:04.33 Remnant and whenever an order comes in Steve carefully 00:22:04.36\00:22:07.15 gathers them all together. He keeps the books very 00:22:07.18\00:22:10.49 organized so he can find them quickly and he really enjoys 00:22:10.52\00:22:13.94 what he does. For him it's not just a job it's a Ministry. 00:22:13.97\00:22:18.21 After the books have been weighed they are boxed up and 00:22:18.24\00:22:20.76 shipped out right away. 00:22:20.79\00:22:21.76 Now this is really exciting! You're looking at over 500 00:22:22.83\00:22:26.31 boxes filled with Spirit of Prophecy books. Steve is 00:22:26.34\00:22:29.49 taking them to the mail truck where they will be shipped out 00:22:29.52\00:22:32.12 to places all around the World. 00:22:32.15\00:22:33.82 Some days, the Remnant staff spends time stuffing 00:22:35.03\00:22:37.93 envelopes. Today they are stuffing over 8,000 of them 00:22:37.96\00:22:41.34 Most of the employees of Remnant say they feel like 00:22:41.37\00:22:44.26 they are working with a family and not just another Company. 00:22:44.29\00:22:47.37 I guess not everyone likes to be on camera. 00:22:49.44\00:22:51.49 Well there you have it! That's an inside look at what happens 00:22:52.36\00:22:55.05 in the Shipping Department at Remnant Publications. 00:22:55.08\00:22:57.54 Let's take a trip through Remnant Publications and see 00:22:57.57\00:23:02.60 how a book is made. We begin in the Prepress room. 00:23:02.63\00:23:04.98 Computer Technician Tim Jaeger begins by loading a large sheet 00:23:05.01\00:23:08.90 of emulsion coated aluminum into the developing machine. 00:23:08.93\00:23:11.72 Suction cups pull the aluminum sheet into the machine. 00:23:14.96\00:23:17.99 Then a special laser head etches the emulsion side of the 00:23:18.02\00:23:21.16 aluminum leaving behind only what's needed for printing. 00:23:21.19\00:23:23.82 It comes off the roller and a lifting rack brings the exposed 00:23:27.09\00:23:30.59 sheet onto the other side where special rollers guide it into 00:23:30.62\00:23:33.65 the developing stage. 00:23:33.68\00:23:34.65 Chemicals wash away what the laser exposes. Out comes the 00:23:36.29\00:23:40.35 plate ready to be used on the printing press. 00:23:40.38\00:23:42.05 Nate Reed, the Pressman, load's the plate into the two color 00:23:45.33\00:23:48.26 press. 00:23:48.29\00:23:49.26 Ink is then applied to the print rollers. 00:23:49.27\00:23:50.68 A thin coating of water helps the ink not to stick to the 00:23:52.25\00:23:55.83 printing plate where it's not supposed to. Several suction 00:23:55.86\00:23:58.96 cups and the folding mechanism keep the paper flowing into the 00:23:58.99\00:24:01.48 press. 00:24:01.51\00:24:02.54 This press can print out 7,000 sheets per hour. 00:24:07.12\00:24:10.06 This press is called a Two Color Offset Press and the printed 00:24:10.09\00:24:13.94 sheets are called Signatures. 00:24:13.97\00:24:15.16 From the press the Signatures are placed on the folding 00:24:15.19\00:24:17.96 machine where they go through a series of slots. 00:24:17.99\00:24:19.44 Then they get folded in several ways 00:24:19.47\00:24:21.54 Watching this machine is really cool! 00:24:21.57\00:24:23.50 The next stop takes us to the Saddle Stitcher. 00:24:30.61\00:24:33.24 This machine starts by placing the folded Signatures together 00:24:33.27\00:24:36.71 on top of each other. 00:24:36.74\00:24:37.71 As they continue down the line the book covers are dropped on 00:24:40.78\00:24:43.69 and the next step is where the high speed stapler stitches the 00:24:43.72\00:24:46.82 cover and the pages all together. After being stapled, 00:24:46.85\00:24:51.93 they continue down the feeder belt where they go through the 00:24:51.96\00:24:54.17 chopper. 00:24:54.20\00:24:55.17 There the excess paper gets trimmed and cut off. 00:24:55.18\00:24:57.03 Another process for bigger books is the Binder but before we get 00:24:57.06\00:25:00.89 there we need to cut some covers down to size. 00:25:00.92\00:25:02.83 Now that's sharp! 00:25:05.77\00:25:07.27 The first stage of the Binder trims the pages and puts hot 00:25:10.43\00:25:14.16 melted glue on the spine. 00:25:14.19\00:25:15.16 Rollers help the glue go on evenly. 00:25:17.91\00:25:20.14 The cover gets stuck to the back. 00:25:21.91\00:25:23.23 Then they are folded and pressed into the spine. 00:25:24.55\00:25:27.79 This whole process is done in less than 10 seconds to book. 00:25:27.82\00:25:31.82 Now that's impressive! 00:25:31.85\00:25:33.09 After a short trip on the conveyer belt, they come to 00:25:33.12\00:25:36.37 the last stage.
