ASI is a ministry that's networking 00:00:01.98\00:00:02.95 all these different ministries together 00:00:02.96\00:00:04.78 with the church. Being involved with ASI, 00:00:04.79\00:00:06.52 meeting other people. ASI is an excellent 00:00:06.53\00:00:09.55 opportunity, just a great opportunity. 00:00:09.56\00:00:11.34 In ASI there's a particular fellowship. 00:00:11.35\00:00:14.28 ASI is really the stamp it's the glue 00:00:14.29\00:00:16.51 that holds all the ministries together. 00:00:16.52\00:00:18.15 Welcome to the ASI Video Magazine, 00:00:29.09\00:00:30.82 I'm Conna Bond, ASI has many member 00:00:30.83\00:00:34.10 organizations all over the world, 00:00:34.11\00:00:36.00 each one has committed to sharing Christ 00:00:36.01\00:00:37.97 in the market place in the unique way. 00:00:37.98\00:00:39.88 They all share one common goal however 00:00:40.46\00:00:42.73 and that is to build up the kingdom of God, 00:00:42.74\00:00:45.04 one individual and one Church at a time. 00:00:45.05\00:00:47.68 Today we will visit two mission projects 00:00:48.73\00:00:50.53 here in Southern Africa where ASI members 00:00:50.54\00:00:52.92 are meeting the physical and spiritual 00:00:52.93\00:00:54.61 needs of people in Zambia and Tanzania. 00:00:54.62\00:00:57.37 In both of these countries there is 00:00:57.38\00:00:59.04 a whole lot of building going on. 00:00:59.05\00:01:00.78 One of the best things about being an ASI 00:01:02.00\00:01:03.92 member is that you have many opportunities 00:01:03.93\00:01:05.67 to collaborate with other ASI members 00:01:05.68\00:01:07.88 who share your vision for sharing Christ 00:01:07.89\00:01:10.36 in the marketplace. Some have ideas, 00:01:10.37\00:01:13.01 some have resources and some 00:01:13.02\00:01:15.28 have the time and energy to make 00:01:15.29\00:01:16.79 those ideas come to life. The One Day 00:01:16.80\00:01:19.88 Church was one of those ideas that took 00:01:19.89\00:01:21.76 off like a fire storm. ASI member 00:01:21.77\00:01:24.14 Garwin McNeilus was inspired to design 00:01:24.15\00:01:26.33 an affordable steel church structure kit 00:01:26.34\00:01:28.91 that could be shift anywhere in the world 00:01:28.92\00:01:30.66 and put up in a day by just a few labors. 00:01:30.67\00:01:33.32 Livingstone, Zambia is a just amazing 00:01:34.32\00:01:37.54 in terms of the involvement of the 00:01:37.55\00:01:39.74 members, now I have been working different 00:01:39.75\00:01:42.08 parts and of the world and when I came 00:01:42.09\00:01:45.48 down to Zambia, I never saw such 00:01:45.49\00:01:48.65 involvement by the members of the church. 00:01:48.66\00:01:50.97 We've done roofs for Africa with ASI 00:01:55.44\00:01:58.97 funds for the past ten years, 00:01:58.98\00:02:00.93 we've put up probably over 500 roofs 00:02:00.94\00:02:04.77 and churches in Zambia. About a year 00:02:04.78\00:02:07.68 ago I started hearing some rumors coming 00:02:07.69\00:02:09.80 from Minnesota of a new program 00:02:09.81\00:02:12.95 that was going to extend the church 00:02:12.96\00:02:16.10 roof program and in fact it has kind of 00:02:16.11\00:02:19.94 enveloped it and put it on the whole 00:02:19.95\00:02:22.32 different footing and when I say footing, 00:02:22.33\00:02:24.50 I mean now the roofs comes with feet 00:02:25.01\00:02:28.18 or with legs as I call it. This One day 00:02:28.19\00:02:33.56 Church concept is the brainchild of my 00:02:33.57\00:02:36.94 good friend Garwin McNeilus from 00:02:36.95\00:02:38.61 Minnesota and it's really going to be 00:02:38.62\00:02:42.15 a boost to the world churches in Zambia. 00:02:42.92\00:02:46.70 The Hill church is one of the most 00:02:49.49\00:02:51.45 fascinating, interesting church for 00:02:51.46\00:02:53.68 a lot of people, basically the members 00:02:53.69\00:02:56.30 of this church are you know all stone 00:02:56.31\00:02:58.38 crushers and if you go down there 00:02:58.39\00:03:00.16 you'll see them like crushing stones 00:03:00.17\00:03:01.91 right from the morning till the evening, 00:03:01.92\00:03:03.67 they got a small pestle sort of a thing 00:03:03.68\00:03:06.60 that they keep breaking the stones 00:03:06.61\00:03:07.79 with and if you went there 00:03:07.80\00:03:10.39 you'll see this shack that, 00:03:10.40\00:03:11.60 that's almost falling apart, 00:03:11.61\00:03:12.60 even they have got these termites in it, 00:03:12.61\00:03:14.19 it's hay, do not know when it's going 00:03:14.20\00:03:16.57 to fall down and when we visited this 00:03:16.58\00:03:19.57 place and we saw this place, 00:03:19.58\00:03:21.03 I mean it was, they were just shocked 00:03:21.04\00:03:23.17 with the condition and they were so 00:03:23.85\00:03:25.05 many members, it was packed and when 00:03:25.06\00:03:27.87 ASI and Maranatha went there, 00:03:28.70\00:03:30.58 this member were so much excited I mean they 00:03:30.83\00:03:32.52 were so excited that they could get a church. 00:03:32.53\00:03:34.94 When we went around to ask the church 00:03:35.26\00:03:36.63 members to the level the ground where 00:03:36.64\00:03:38.62 the church was going to be put, 00:03:38.63\00:03:40.06 the church members here had a grader. 00:03:40.64\00:03:42.83 They paid about $300. And this is 00:03:42.84\00:03:45.87 the only church where they used a grader. 00:03:45.88\00:03:48.07 So Mr. Garwin was moved to say these 00:03:48.08\00:03:49.61 guys are putting in so much effort 00:03:49.62\00:03:51.72 when they don't even have the means. 00:03:51.73\00:03:53.34 And whenever there was a shortage 00:03:53.61\00:03:54.87 of water, they actually would carry water 00:03:54.88\00:03:57.12 from about two, three miles down the road, 00:03:57.13\00:03:59.22 they dug a ditch, a trench, so that they 00:04:00.21\00:04:01.68 could make the water flow, anything 00:04:01.69\00:04:03.64 that they could do, you know, 00:04:03.65\00:04:04.95 they used to come and do, and they were 00:04:04.96\00:04:06.64 so interested, it was not like they were 00:04:06.65\00:04:08.54 standing aside and having look at 00:04:08.55\00:04:10.68 the place. They were just so thankful 00:04:10.69\00:04:12.89 and so grateful that they were getting 00:04:12.90\00:04:14.03 a church. Now if you compare the 00:04:14.04\00:04:16.18 building before the shack and you see this, 00:04:16.19\00:04:18.26 this a nice building you know, and 00:04:18.27\00:04:20.45 the people around want to be a part of 00:04:20.82\00:04:22.10 a church that is nice, it's good looking, 00:04:22.11\00:04:24.09 it's beautiful, you know they feel 00:04:24.10\00:04:25.93 a pride in themselves, that they belong to 00:04:25.94\00:04:28.87 a good church. As the church came up 00:04:28.88\00:04:32.03 and has been almost completed, 00:04:32.51\00:04:33.78 the membership has drastically increased 00:04:34.54\00:04:37.00 and these are not just people who 00:04:37.01\00:04:38.07 are just gonna come and sit for 00:04:38.08\00:04:39.05 a Sabbath and go away. What happens 00:04:39.06\00:04:41.08 is when they start coming inn and they 00:04:41.09\00:04:42.46 start getting interested in what 00:04:42.47\00:04:43.92 has been taught inside and on every 00:04:43.93\00:04:45.73 Sunday, you'll find these new people 00:04:45.74\00:04:48.26 who have just started coming every 00:04:48.27\00:04:50.34 Sunday for Bible classes, Bible studies 00:04:50.35\00:04:52.40 and I believe the membership has 00:04:52.41\00:04:54.96 increased by about 90 to 110 in the last 00:04:54.97\00:05:01.50 two or three weeks or four weeks 00:05:01.51\00:05:02.86 that the billing has been done. 00:05:02.87\00:05:04.62 It's a miracle! It's a miracle, actually! 00:05:05.16\00:05:07.07 Members here never expected. Look at 00:05:07.08\00:05:09.12 the kind of compound. They never thought 00:05:09.13\00:05:11.60 they'd have such a church. This is what 00:05:11.61\00:05:13.35 they could afford, and this is like a 00:05:13.36\00:05:16.39 dream a dream they've never expected 00:05:16.40\00:05:19.16 to come true, so this is a big miracle 00:05:19.17\00:05:20.82 for the location and for the community 00:05:20.83\00:05:22.98 around here and for the church members. 00:05:22.99\00:05:24.82 We'll be reading about miracles in the 00:05:25.75\00:05:26.98 Bible, but they have seen it in their lifetime. 00:05:26.99\00:05:29.16 From Minnesota the church is packed 00:05:34.71\00:05:37.98 in a box and then it arrives here 00:05:37.99\00:05:39.65 in Zambia with no, not an easy process, 00:05:39.66\00:05:42.10 but once it gets here, our job is to 00:05:42.11\00:05:45.59 separate out the pieces into one day kits, 00:05:45.60\00:05:49.29 it's about 30 of them in each container 00:05:49.30\00:05:52.10 and we separate them out and from 00:05:52.11\00:05:54.07 there we have the applications of churches 00:05:54.08\00:05:57.37 in various places around the country, 00:05:57.38\00:05:59.36 we pick all little pieces, big pieces 00:05:59.74\00:06:03.19 put them in a truck and start driving off. 00:06:03.20\00:06:06.23 When we reach there the people 00:06:06.83\00:06:08.29 are always waiting for us, if there isn't 00:06:08.30\00:06:11.83 ten people then it's thirty people. 00:06:13.83\00:06:15.97 They are there ready to help and we put 00:06:15.98\00:06:18.08 them to work unloading the kit 00:06:18.09\00:06:19.56 separating the pieces, the long 00:06:19.57\00:06:21.69 pieces here, the short pieces here, 00:06:21.70\00:06:24.03 the roofing sheets here, that's part 00:06:24.04\00:06:26.06 of my work is directing the people 00:06:26.07\00:06:27.87 and getting them used to each piece. 00:06:27.88\00:06:30.38 It's part of my enjoyment to let my team 00:06:30.39\00:06:33.24 work up on the church actually doing 00:06:33.25\00:06:37.28 this cuing and I work with the people 00:06:37.29\00:06:39.41 making sure that they get to participate 00:06:39.42\00:06:42.27 in the whole procedure. We have seen with 00:06:42.28\00:06:47.00 the one day structure, it's versatility. 00:06:47.01\00:06:49.77 First in our minds it was churches that 00:06:50.69\00:06:52.68 we were gonna putting up every where 00:06:52.69\00:06:54.80 there is a need for a church, this is 00:06:54.81\00:06:57.32 going to fill in a small congregation. 00:06:57.33\00:06:59.44 Then we had some people coming to 00:07:00.37\00:07:01.93 us and saying what about a school 00:07:01.94\00:07:03.76 we would like to put up a pre-school or 00:07:03.77\00:07:06.01 grades 1 to 4 here around our church 00:07:06.02\00:07:08.76 and so the thought came yes, this, 00:07:09.42\00:07:11.66 this building is versatile and can be 00:07:11.67\00:07:14.00 used as a church, can be used as a school, 00:07:14.01\00:07:17.26 can be used as a clinic and the idea 00:07:17.27\00:07:19.30 is just started rolling, sure enough a 00:07:19.31\00:07:21.93 vision was developed and I think 00:07:21.94\00:07:24.89 Livingstone is probably a prime example of 00:07:24.90\00:07:28.94 what a big project with using these 00:07:28.95\00:07:31.20 one day churches can really come to be. 00:07:31.21\00:07:33.33 This is a primary school. It's being 00:07:34.13\00:07:37.20 built by the ASI, America. Mr. Garwin 00:07:37.21\00:07:41.73 being behind all the construction that 00:07:41.74\00:07:43.58 is going on here in Livingstone, Zambia. 00:07:43.59\00:07:46.10 And he heard over here that they have 00:07:46.57\00:07:47.84 been absolutely no Adventist schools. 00:07:47.85\00:07:50.51 The government schools operate 00:07:50.52\00:07:52.50 on Saturdays and our kids cannot go 00:07:52.51\00:07:55.01 to school on Saturdays and hence 00:07:55.02\00:07:56.96 they would get punished, they, 00:07:56.97\00:07:58.62 they miss their grades because of that 00:07:58.63\00:08:00.48 because they have sometime exams on 00:08:00.49\00:08:01.76 Saturdays that they missed out. 00:08:01.77\00:08:03.11 They failed, they repeated the same class, 00:08:03.12\00:08:06.05 because there was no Adventist education 00:08:06.06\00:08:08.49 and he went back and I think he started 00:08:08.50\00:08:11.44 thinking about how can I use the One Day 00:08:11.45\00:08:14.19 church to put up a good school campus 00:08:14.20\00:08:17.44 and they sort of designed the school, 00:08:17.45\00:08:20.16 which is so beautiful, so nice 00:08:20.17\00:08:22.79 with the One Day Church kids. 00:08:22.80\00:08:24.85 Garwin asked if our team here Riverside 00:08:25.72\00:08:27.91 can go down to Livingstone and start 00:08:27.92\00:08:29.56 helping him layout an idea that he had, 00:08:29.57\00:08:32.26 a vision that he had of a school complex 00:08:32.27\00:08:36.06 owned and operate by the Seventh Day 00:08:36.07\00:08:37.78 Adventist church, a primary school 00:08:37.79\00:08:39.43 and so we went down and helped him 00:08:39.84\00:08:41.05 first staking out things, we couldn't see, 00:08:41.06\00:08:44.24 it was a big field there and but in his mind, 00:08:44.25\00:08:46.67 in his eye, he had a whole school built up 00:08:46.68\00:08:50.45 with flowers and trees and everything 00:08:50.46\00:08:52.23 around it and then we moved about 00:08:52.24\00:08:54.57 five kilometers away and again another 00:08:54.58\00:08:56.89 spot that there was vision for, we started 00:08:56.90\00:09:01.23 the same process and staked out another 00:09:01.24\00:09:03.53 school and you know everyday is twenty 00:09:03.54\00:09:06.88 or thirty kids all watching us work and 00:09:06.89\00:09:08.83 you know that those kids are gonna be 00:09:08.84\00:09:10.37 potential souls, because they're gonna 00:09:11.66\00:09:14.61 get some Christian education that they 00:09:14.62\00:09:16.45 may not have had without those schools. 00:09:16.46\00:09:18.18 So this part in the center here will be 00:09:19.79\00:09:21.92 a playground for the children, maybe 00:09:21.93\00:09:24.18 when they are having their break, 00:09:24.19\00:09:25.51 they'll be playing around here. There will be 00:09:25.52\00:09:28.15 a flag here and they will be having their 00:09:28.16\00:09:29.75 assembly in the morning before they 00:09:29.76\00:09:31.01 move into classes. We have the other 00:09:31.02\00:09:34.60 building right, which is nicely painted 00:09:35.76\00:09:37.50 there. This one will be a dorcas room 00:09:37.51\00:09:41.08 or a multipurpose room where maybe 00:09:42.41\00:09:44.31 the youths can also be meeting there for 00:09:44.32\00:09:46.84 their meetings, and also the children. 00:09:46.85\00:09:48.72 They'll be having their chapel, their 00:09:48.73\00:09:50.47 worship in that same building there. 00:09:50.48\00:09:52.68 And then the next one 00:09:53.45\00:09:54.42 will also be a classroom. 00:09:54.43\00:09:55.54 These volunteers that come down here, 00:09:57.99\00:09:59.42 the churches that we're building, 00:09:59.43\00:10:00.84 the schools that we are building, 00:10:00.85\00:10:01.86 this could not be done without the giving 00:10:01.87\00:10:03.85 of the ASI members, I mean, they are 00:10:03.86\00:10:05.51 the generous contributions, 00:10:05.52\00:10:06.93 the sacrifices that they may have made, 00:10:06.94\00:10:09.07 you know reaching out dip down their pockets, 00:10:09.08\00:10:11.48 but that sacrifice, that commitment, 00:10:11.49\00:10:14.04 that, that joy of giving, you know 00:10:14.05\00:10:15.68 that desire to help, somebody 00:10:15.69\00:10:18.51 whom they did not met or seen or things 00:10:18.52\00:10:21.87 like that you know, has made such a 00:10:21.88\00:10:23.77 drastic affect on their lives of the people 00:10:23.78\00:10:26.71 here. You can see the Holy Spirit 00:10:26.72\00:10:30.08 work here, you can see the passion 00:10:30.09\00:10:31.87 in the lives of these people, 00:10:31.88\00:10:33.03 how committed they are in spreading 00:10:33.04\00:10:34.63 the Gospel and it is so wonderful, 00:10:34.64\00:10:36.76 that ASI and the contribution of the ASI 00:10:36.77\00:10:40.43 members can you know sort of back this up, 00:10:40.44\00:10:43.84 we have people who are on spirit, 00:10:43.85\00:10:45.73 who are passionate about spreading 00:10:45.74\00:10:47.43 the Gospel Corp, who are passionate 00:10:47.44\00:10:49.00 about getting members for the church, 00:10:49.01\00:10:50.52 but there is a problem, they do not 00:10:50.53\00:10:52.21 have the financial backing to build churches, 00:10:52.22\00:10:54.85 to build you know sheds or just one day 00:10:54.86\00:10:57.78 structure, so that people can really worship. 00:10:57.79\00:10:59.79 They impact that these contributions 00:11:02.12\00:11:04.14 make and you know, you will understand 00:11:04.15\00:11:05.22 that many of these people is not easy, 00:11:05.23\00:11:06.89 you know it's not that they are all rich 00:11:06.90\00:11:08.83 and the have money to spare, there are, 00:11:08.84\00:11:10.73 there are sacrifices has been made, 00:11:10.74\00:11:12.09 so this generous contributions by the ASI 00:11:12.10\00:11:15.15 members is like a big gift, 00:11:15.16\00:11:17.72 big gift for the people in Zambia. 00:11:17.73\00:11:19.50 ASI members have been involved in 00:11:21.45\00:11:22.80 the One Day Church project right from 00:11:22.81\00:11:24.49 the very beginning as planners as sponsors 00:11:24.50\00:11:27.29 and as builders, because of their ongoing 00:11:27.30\00:11:29.56 efforts, people in very primitive areas 00:11:29.57\00:11:31.50 of the world now have solid dry structures 00:11:31.51\00:11:33.98 to meet in each Sabbath. They learn that God can use 00:11:52.80\00:11:55.00 them they're not too young. You got 00:11:55.01\00:11:56.66 to go to classes you get more inducted-to 00:11:56.67\00:11:58.90 your Bible. You see God using you 00:11:58.91\00:12:01.67 to impact other people's life. 00:12:01.68\00:12:03.34 Once you see people chase the Christ 00:12:03.35\00:12:04.94 you wanna come back every year. 00:12:04.95\00:12:07.21 There is a passion that is infectious at ASI. 00:12:17.07\00:12:21.20 Everybody is so passion about Jesus. 00:12:21.21\00:12:24.85 It's a blessing every time just to rub 00:12:24.86\00:12:27.02 shoulders with the people that excited. 00:12:27.03\00:12:28.95 If you have a passion for Jesus 00:12:28.96\00:12:31.02 you're gonna find no place that I know 00:12:31.03\00:12:33.45 where you'll find more passion 00:12:33.46\00:12:34.91 by more people than being at ASI. 00:12:34.92\00:12:37.53 ASI member Janet Fournier is no 00:12:47.35\00:12:49.07 stranger to Africa, in fact she and her 00:12:49.08\00:12:51.11 husband Frank raised their children here, 00:12:51.12\00:12:53.02 friends describe Janet as bold 00:12:53.65\00:12:55.42 and pragmatic. She is quick to recognize 00:12:55.43\00:12:57.51 a need and feel it whatever it takes. 00:12:57.52\00:13:00.13 One day someone told Janet about a 00:13:01.30\00:13:02.91 need in the Makati region of Tanzania 00:13:02.92\00:13:05.18 that's all it took to get her going, 00:13:05.19\00:13:07.20 And Eden Valley Foster Care was born. 00:13:07.21\00:13:09.82 I was in Margo village in Makati district 00:13:16.62\00:13:20.41 in the country of Tanzania. 00:13:20.42\00:13:22.91 We had a high elevation about 7000 00:13:27.84\00:13:30.77 feet and it's mostly a pine forest area 00:13:30.78\00:13:36.03 with dispersed with eucalyptus. 00:13:36.04\00:13:38.61 We have two springs on the property 00:13:42.09\00:13:44.10 one right near our school. 00:13:44.11\00:13:46.72 So this is another spring, this will give us 00:13:57.92\00:14:01.45 drinking water for our school 00:14:02.23\00:14:04.59 and it's not protected yet but it's nice 00:14:05.27\00:14:10.77 and clear and we drink part of it 00:14:10.78\00:14:13.38 and it comes from the way down, 00:14:13.39\00:14:15.88 so we will get a tank for it as well. 00:14:18.96\00:14:21.23 Once we found it here that's what 00:14:23.95\00:14:25.62 made us to decide, that this should be 00:14:25.63\00:14:29.54 our school area, ants. 00:14:29.55\00:14:34.91 In 2003, I heard about this place, 00:14:45.28\00:14:49.18 the village Lupalilo. It was the village 00:14:49.19\00:14:52.60 of the Senanga an old patriot of 00:14:52.61\00:14:55.78 Kibidula and he, he wanted me and 00:14:55.79\00:15:00.00 coaxed me many, many times to come out 00:15:00.01\00:15:02.33 and visit this village back here because 00:15:02.34\00:15:05.28 it was his village where he was born 00:15:05.29\00:15:07.48 and his family and his relatives lived 00:15:07.49\00:15:10.45 here and he had a burden on his heart 00:15:10.46\00:15:13.39 for his family to get to know Jesus 00:15:13.40\00:15:16.55 and so we finally did. And then he 00:15:16.56\00:15:21.63 showed us the need of all the orphans, 00:15:21.64\00:15:23.87 there's over 28000 orphans in this 00:15:23.88\00:15:26.35 district alone. We came out, we've seen 00:15:26.36\00:15:29.53 the need and the need pulled out our 00:15:29.54\00:15:31.47 hearts and so we decided to come out 00:15:31.48\00:15:34.02 and do something. We came out with just 00:15:34.03\00:15:36.87 bails of clothes, started distributing 00:15:36.88\00:15:39.13 clothes and singing song with kids 00:15:39.14\00:15:42.60 in the school and then pretty soon 00:15:42.61\00:15:44.78 but I saw one of the Bible workers, 00:15:44.79\00:15:46.80 came along and he helped me, 00:15:46.81\00:15:48.58 he was my translator and we would 00:15:48.59\00:15:51.10 just go from house to house in the 00:15:51.11\00:15:53.36 village and then pray with people, 00:15:53.37\00:15:57.20 if they were sick I had some medicines, 00:15:58.04\00:16:01.21 I started pulling teeth and helping 00:16:01.22\00:16:04.66 the people with their, with their 00:16:04.67\00:16:05.94 simple needs. From there the vision 00:16:05.95\00:16:11.33 grew for the orphans we started with 00:16:11.34\00:16:15.83 one village and then two and then 00:16:15.84\00:16:17.70 three and then now we do seven villages 00:16:17.71\00:16:21.08 and it's over 800 children and you know 00:16:21.09\00:16:24.08 I first thought we'll do an orphanage, 00:16:24.09\00:16:26.34 but as so many children came into 00:16:26.35\00:16:29.97 the picture, we soon found out that we 00:16:29.98\00:16:34.24 couldn't help that many kids in an 00:16:34.25\00:16:38.38 orphanage. So we had to figure out a 00:16:38.39\00:16:40.27 way to help them in a better situation, 00:16:40.28\00:16:43.09 so we decided we would help the kids 00:16:43.10\00:16:45.07 in the home, we wouldn't take the kids 00:16:45.08\00:16:47.24 away from their grandmothers or 00:16:47.25\00:16:49.19 their family, but we would just facilitate 00:16:49.20\00:16:52.30 the family to keep their kids. 00:16:52.31\00:16:54.08 Their greatest need was clothing, 00:16:55.99\00:16:58.13 they wore rags, they were dirty, 00:16:58.14\00:16:59.93 they were filthy and so we tried to help 00:16:59.94\00:17:04.51 them by providing those things, 00:17:04.52\00:17:07.17 we bought soft and soap and school 00:17:07.18\00:17:11.32 uniforms and then, then we could 00:17:11.33\00:17:14.06 see that there was a greater need, 00:17:14.07\00:17:16.58 you know these young girls were leaving 00:17:16.59\00:17:19.70 the villages, going out to the big cities, 00:17:19.71\00:17:22.86 getting pregnant, getting HIV, 00:17:22.87\00:17:25.15 coming home with a baby, 00:17:25.16\00:17:28.21 another one for the grandmother, 00:17:28.22\00:17:30.69 and the same with the boys, 00:17:30.70\00:17:32.88 they would come home sick as dogs 00:17:32.89\00:17:35.43 for few years and then they would die 00:17:35.44\00:17:39.64 and I've seen that we needed to do 00:17:39.65\00:17:43.69 something for these young people so 00:17:43.70\00:17:46.26 that when they were finished school or 00:17:46.27\00:17:49.27 if they never finished school, that they 00:17:49.28\00:17:51.70 would have something besides having babies, 00:17:51.71\00:17:55.18 growing a family and being at the end of 00:17:55.19\00:17:58.86 of a hoe all day, and so we decided to 00:17:58.87\00:18:02.90 start to sewing school and the 00:18:02.91\00:18:04.49 carpentry school for youth. 00:18:04.50\00:18:06.72 The school in Lupalilo was generous 00:18:11.98\00:18:15.08 enough to give us two classrooms, 00:18:15.09\00:18:16.92 we started the carpentry school 00:18:16.93\00:18:18.92 and then we started the nursery school 00:18:18.93\00:18:20.57 for the little ones. We had a student 00:18:20.58\00:18:23.36 missionary from the southern, 00:18:23.37\00:18:24.97 Christy Slovene and she wanted to teach 00:18:24.98\00:18:28.24 little ones so I gave us her an 00:18:28.25\00:18:30.59 opportunity to start this program, 00:18:30.60\00:18:33.98 so they gave us the classroom, 00:18:33.99\00:18:36.57 our carpentry students put window frames 00:18:36.58\00:18:41.70 and then we put glass in it, 00:18:41.71\00:18:43.14 put the door on, built us the cardboard 00:18:43.15\00:18:46.30 and put a sealing in the classroom, 00:18:46.31\00:18:49.16 every time I went home I brought 00:18:49.17\00:18:51.41 bins full of craft items and learning 00:18:51.42\00:18:55.39 tools for them and so while Christy was 00:18:55.40\00:19:00.16 teaching them we put two local people 00:19:00.17\00:19:04.47 into the classroom to learn how to teach, 00:19:04.48\00:19:08.64 so when Christy was gone and when her 00:19:08.65\00:19:10.61 time was up and she was going back 00:19:10.62\00:19:12.54 to school, then we had our two teachers 00:19:12.55\00:19:15.23 to continue teaching these young people. 00:19:15.24\00:19:17.91 We rented another building and 00:19:22.10\00:19:24.14 started our sewing school we bought 00:19:24.15\00:19:26.12 started with just maybe six sewing 00:19:26.13\00:19:28.35 machines and then added seven, 00:19:28.36\00:19:30.28 eight, ten. Now, we have about twelve 00:19:30.29\00:19:33.30 or fifteen sewing machines, I don't 00:19:33.31\00:19:35.67 even know anymore and so the vision 00:19:35.68\00:19:38.61 grew again. Margo showed us a piece 00:19:38.62\00:19:43.02 of property here and 35 acres with lots 00:19:43.03\00:19:47.31 of water and land for agriculture 00:19:47.32\00:19:51.99 and with that we came and put the Lord 00:19:52.00\00:19:56.14 first we built our campus Chapel then 00:19:56.15\00:19:58.44 we built our pastor home and the 00:19:58.45\00:20:01.62 classroom that you see that's housing 00:20:01.63\00:20:04.12 our sewing school right now is actually 00:20:04.13\00:20:07.39 like a little dormitory where pastor, 00:20:07.40\00:20:11.09 kids will be able to stay in 00:20:11.10\00:20:13.51 transition to us in finding them a home. 00:20:13.52\00:20:16.05 [Foreign Language] 00:20:16.06\00:20:42.20 This year in our sewing class we have 00:20:42.85\00:20:44.71 some from as far away as Mafinga 00:20:44.72\00:20:47.49 and that is five hours driving away 00:20:47.50\00:20:50.65 from here and so we're becoming known, 00:20:50.66\00:20:54.84 that's the reason we need dormitories 00:20:56.54\00:20:58.22 because these young people are just 00:20:58.23\00:21:00.41 staying together in rented houses 00:21:00.42\00:21:03.47 and it's important for us to bring all 00:21:03.48\00:21:07.27 our students in where we can 00:21:07.28\00:21:09.43 have a greater influence on them. 00:21:09.44\00:21:12.25 [Foreign Language] 00:21:12.61\00:21:16.77 Okay, Justine what are you doing 00:21:17.41\00:21:18.58 this here? What are you teaching? 00:21:18.59\00:21:20.24 I'm teaching stool. How to make 00:21:20.25\00:21:23.89 the joints? Yeah, joints. It only goes 00:21:23.90\00:21:29.96 half way, yes, half way. Yeah, half way. 00:21:29.97\00:21:32.72 That's quite a joint. I'm teaching chairs. 00:21:34.27\00:21:37.10 Chairs, Stool we are starting now. Okay. 00:21:37.11\00:21:41.72 Yeah. Here's the base and the top 00:21:41.73\00:21:46.79 not playing here. And I can go 00:21:46.80\00:21:51.81 get frames for a window, for putting 00:21:51.82\00:21:54.82 glass. Window frames with the glass. 00:21:54.83\00:21:57.56 Yes. So they have the double benches 00:21:57.57\00:21:59.77 and then on the inside they have 00:21:59.78\00:22:02.86 it rounded down so that the glass 00:22:02.87\00:22:05.94 can fit in there. Yeah. Yeah, that's very 00:22:05.95\00:22:08.48 nice and so they are made doors like 00:22:08.49\00:22:10.70 this one. Yes, yes. Okay. Yeah. 00:22:10.71\00:22:12.90 All furniture. All the furniture. Yes. 00:22:12.91\00:22:16.80 We built our carpentry and mechanic 00:22:24.58\00:22:27.81 shop in one block together, our plan 00:22:27.82\00:22:30.79 is to start first by teaching them 00:22:30.80\00:22:33.44 simple things like how to fix bicycles 00:22:33.45\00:22:36.12 then motorcycles because there are lot 00:22:36.13\00:22:37.87 of motorcycles here and then from the 00:22:37.88\00:22:40.42 motorcycles to simple oil change 00:22:40.43\00:22:45.49 and reach job and stuff like that, 00:22:45.50\00:22:47.69 and then further on as we go. 00:22:47.70\00:22:51.03 Gown sewing and English as a second 00:22:53.80\00:22:59.51 language and agriculture, bee keeping, 00:22:59.52\00:23:03.81 whatever classes we need to have 00:23:03.82\00:23:06.93 they will be in these buildings here. 00:23:06.94\00:23:09.18 And then we built our cafeteria 00:23:11.29\00:23:13.70 a place for the students to be able 00:23:13.71\00:23:15.63 to eat and we also want to teach 00:23:15.64\00:23:19.45 agriculture. I don't think I could ever 00:23:19.46\00:23:22.28 afford to feed all the students and so 00:23:22.29\00:23:24.69 they have to feed themselves, and that's 00:23:24.70\00:23:26.72 good incentive to learn how to grow. 00:23:26.73\00:23:28.78 And with the agriculture we can teach 00:23:29.52\00:23:31.63 the cooking and so it makes a circle. 00:23:31.64\00:23:35.26 So you teach students one hour Bible 00:23:39.97\00:23:42.54 everyday? Yes, everyday. And then health. 00:23:42.55\00:23:45.38 And lessons are now, okay very good. 00:23:45.39\00:23:49.46 Before every class we have about 00:23:50.21\00:23:51.99 forty five minute of Bible study 00:23:52.00\00:23:54.04 and we have our Bible workers, 00:23:54.05\00:23:55.98 and our teachers who are well equipped 00:23:55.99\00:23:59.43 to give Bible studies to our students, 00:23:59.44\00:24:01.74 so our students were not only learning 00:24:01.75\00:24:04.95 a trade but they are leaning values 00:24:04.96\00:24:07.56 that will keep them hopefully through out 00:24:07.57\00:24:11.19 their lives that they will come to know 00:24:11.20\00:24:12.95 Jesus in a special way. And 00:24:12.96\00:24:15.20 their lives will be changed by it. 00:24:15.21\00:24:17.79 And how many students were baptized? 00:24:18.33\00:24:20.23 Last year four. Four from here and one 00:24:21.51\00:24:25.17 from sewing. Yeah. Yes. Okay. Very good. 00:24:25.18\00:24:28.78 Even though this in a public school 00:24:28.79\00:24:31.74 this is where we have these classrooms 00:24:31.75\00:24:35.03 sub wires as our carpentry and our 00:24:35.04\00:24:36.79 nursery school at this point, and yes we 00:24:36.80\00:24:39.82 are allowed to teach Bible in health. 00:24:39.83\00:24:42.32 And we are even invited to teach Bible 00:24:42.33\00:24:46.32 and have to the whole school and we 00:24:46.33\00:24:49.52 do that as well. I believe the people 00:24:49.53\00:24:53.58 really know why I'm here to help them 00:24:53.59\00:24:57.44 and I think they really appreciate it 00:24:57.45\00:24:59.64 because you know the guy at the Dorcas, 00:24:59.65\00:25:03.66 at the little store where we there 00:25:03.67\00:25:05.69 this morning, he told me several 00:25:05.70\00:25:08.34 years ago, he says, mama, if anybody 00:25:08.35\00:25:12.02 gives you any problem you come 00:25:12.03\00:25:14.37 and tell us, we will help you, they don't 00:25:14.38\00:25:19.16 want me to have want any problems 00:25:19.17\00:25:20.79 whatsoever, they are very happy for 00:25:20.80\00:25:22.91 us to be here. It is a miracle there's no 00:25:22.92\00:25:27.13 doubt about it, the Lord provided, 00:25:27.14\00:25:29.78 the Lord helps us step by step, 00:25:29.79\00:25:31.84 that you know, I have to say, who am I 00:25:31.85\00:25:34.46 all the time that the Lord should be so 00:25:34.47\00:25:39.18 free to help me you know, that He holds 00:25:39.19\00:25:42.21 out His hands to me. It was blessing 00:25:42.22\00:25:44.57 to us to receive a container from ASI 00:25:44.58\00:25:48.69 it contained thirty seven One Day Churches 00:25:48.70\00:25:52.77 and so we put two of our buildings 00:25:52.78\00:25:56.50 together the four classroom block 00:25:56.51\00:25:58.38 and our cafeteria. Those two buildings are 00:25:58.39\00:26:02.13 made up of One Day Churches put together 00:26:02.14\00:26:05.37 and to make the long buildings, 00:26:05.38\00:26:07.54 they look so beautiful inside doesn't 00:26:08.19\00:26:10.49 need finishing; it's just the greatest thing. 00:26:10.50\00:26:13.81 I love the people, I love helping people, 00:26:19.38\00:26:23.13 I love to serve the Lord and the way 00:26:23.14\00:26:28.69 I feel that I can do that best is by 00:26:28.70\00:26:32.83 helping other people to love the Lord. 00:26:34.02\00:26:36.21 And you know I'm not the theologian, 00:26:36.85\00:26:39.36 I'm not a great student, but I'm a 00:26:39.37\00:26:42.32 practical person but I, I the Lord speaks 00:26:42.33\00:26:46.22 to me in practical ways and 00:26:46.23\00:26:49.66 He helps me and I want to help others. 00:26:49.67\00:26:53.47 The needs of children in Southern Africa 00:26:55.81\00:26:57.43 are great Janet Fournier and her team 00:26:57.44\00:27:00.14 of Eden Valley Foster Care are working 00:27:00.15\00:27:02.27 to meet the basic needs of children 00:27:02.28\00:27:03.76 in Tanzania by providing food, 00:27:03.77\00:27:06.05 medical care, education and most of all, 00:27:06.06\00:27:09.50 the compassionate love of their 00:27:09.51\00:27:10.94 heavenly Father.
