Amen. 00:01:24.08\00:01:25.41 Thank you, Tim. 00:01:25.45\00:01:27.05 Worship, worship is vitally important. 00:01:27.08\00:01:30.62 The Bible says that we must worship Him 00:01:30.65\00:01:32.95 in spirit and in truth. 00:01:32.99\00:01:34.92 It's essential to our experience with God. 00:01:34.96\00:01:38.06 And it's kind of the epicenter of our relationship 00:01:38.09\00:01:40.93 in our experience with our Lord. 00:01:40.96\00:01:43.06 And so we're going to be talking about 00:01:43.10\00:01:45.70 the corporate role aspect of leading out and worship, 00:01:45.73\00:01:49.14 participating and singing, and bringing praise to God 00:01:49.17\00:01:52.21 through the form of music. 00:01:52.24\00:01:53.61 And Tim and I, as he said in his prayer, 00:01:53.64\00:01:56.01 and as we're going to continue communicate 00:01:56.04\00:01:58.11 throughout this time together, 00:01:58.15\00:01:59.51 you know, we have a little bit of experience 00:01:59.55\00:02:00.88 not that we're professionals in this. 00:02:00.92\00:02:02.25 It's not we have it all figured out, 00:02:02.28\00:02:03.62 certainly but little bit of experience 00:02:03.65\00:02:05.69 and some tips and tricks and things over the years 00:02:05.72\00:02:07.99 that I believe is vitally important in including 00:02:08.02\00:02:10.76 and considering when you are either leading out 00:02:10.79\00:02:14.23 in a worship experience 00:02:14.26\00:02:15.60 or just simply participating in any capacity. 00:02:15.63\00:02:19.03 I'm going to get right into this 00:02:19.07\00:02:20.40 because as I was thinking about Lord... 00:02:20.44\00:02:24.77 You know, when we're approaching 00:02:24.81\00:02:26.14 you in worship, when we're about to come 00:02:26.17\00:02:27.84 together as the Bible says an assemble ourselves together 00:02:27.88\00:02:31.71 to give praise, to give worship 00:02:31.75\00:02:33.65 and homage to our God 00:02:33.68\00:02:35.15 in an organized collective fashion. 00:02:35.18\00:02:38.05 Lord, how we do we... 00:02:38.09\00:02:39.75 Can you just jump into that, you just, you know, 00:02:39.79\00:02:41.82 kind of dive headfirst into that experience, 00:02:41.86\00:02:43.69 maybe some people do, 00:02:43.73\00:02:46.03 but the Lord had up on my heart, years ago, 00:02:46.06\00:02:47.76 and I've done this for, you know, 00:02:47.80\00:02:49.40 for many years now as I prepare whether 00:02:49.43\00:02:51.33 I'm leading out or whether I'm participating. 00:02:51.37\00:02:53.74 I'd like to prepare the soil, 00:02:53.77\00:02:56.04 I guess, prepare the heart to be ready 00:02:56.07\00:02:59.21 for that worship experience. 00:02:59.24\00:03:01.21 You know, seeking the Lord in prayer 00:03:01.24\00:03:02.74 is absolutely vitally important. 00:03:02.78\00:03:04.58 So I encourage that when you are preparing, 00:03:04.61\00:03:07.48 again, to lead out or just simply 00:03:07.52\00:03:09.75 participating in a worship experience, 00:03:09.78\00:03:11.49 prepare the soil, prepare the soil of your heart 00:03:11.52\00:03:14.26 for that worship experience. 00:03:14.29\00:03:15.62 So prayer would be, number one, 00:03:15.66\00:03:17.26 make sure that you are going to Lord in prayer and saying, 00:03:17.29\00:03:19.83 "Lord, I'm coming into Your presence. 00:03:19.86\00:03:22.73 I'm preparing myself to bow before You to give you 00:03:22.76\00:03:26.03 the praise and the worship that You deserve." 00:03:26.07\00:03:28.00 And I believe the Lord in that prayerful experience 00:03:28.04\00:03:30.54 will help prepare your mind 00:03:30.57\00:03:31.91 and your heart for that experience, 00:03:31.94\00:03:33.44 of course, always meditating on His Word, right? 00:03:33.48\00:03:35.91 The Word of the Lord is just full of beautiful gems, 00:03:35.94\00:03:39.41 dealing with worship and how to prepare for worship, 00:03:39.45\00:03:41.88 how to get into that worshipful mentality. 00:03:41.92\00:03:44.85 And today, we're going to be talking about 00:03:44.89\00:03:46.39 the musical aspect, we're going to be talking about 00:03:46.42\00:03:48.32 how music is vitally important, and some of the things 00:03:48.36\00:03:50.93 that we can do to have a more organized 00:03:50.96\00:03:54.10 and a more reverential and more, 00:03:54.13\00:03:56.03 a just an overall better experience in worship. 00:03:56.06\00:03:58.63 But I think, obviously, 00:03:58.67\00:04:00.00 one of the most important things 00:04:00.04\00:04:01.37 is that we understand that worship, 00:04:01.40\00:04:02.74 in general, is just simply, 00:04:02.77\00:04:04.17 it's not an event necessarily, 00:04:04.21\00:04:06.27 it's not something necessarily that we do, 00:04:06.31\00:04:08.78 but it's basically the attitude of the heart, right? 00:04:08.81\00:04:11.38 Whether we're studying the word, 00:04:11.41\00:04:12.75 whether we're in prayer, 00:04:12.78\00:04:14.12 whether we're driving down the road 00:04:14.15\00:04:15.48 and we're worshiping the Lord. 00:04:15.52\00:04:16.85 It's the attitude of the heart. 00:04:16.89\00:04:18.22 And so what we're going to be talking about 00:04:18.25\00:04:19.59 is some of those liturgical methods 00:04:19.62\00:04:21.82 in worshiping the Lord in music and in song. 00:04:21.86\00:04:24.43 It's going to help bring up out an overall organized 00:04:24.46\00:04:27.30 and better experience 00:04:27.33\00:04:28.73 when you are leading or participating in worship. 00:04:28.76\00:04:31.93 Tim, read for us Hebrews 10 there. 00:04:31.97\00:04:34.17 This is kind of a great scripture 00:04:34.20\00:04:36.20 that really sets the tone for preparing yourself 00:04:36.24\00:04:38.61 for a worship experience. 00:04:38.64\00:04:39.97 So Hebrews 10:22, 23. 00:04:40.01\00:04:42.08 "Let us draw near with a true heart 00:04:42.11\00:04:44.15 in full assurance of faith, 00:04:44.18\00:04:46.01 having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience 00:04:46.05\00:04:48.72 and our bodies washed with pure water. 00:04:48.75\00:04:50.89 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope 00:04:50.92\00:04:53.02 without wavering for He is who promised is faithful." 00:04:53.05\00:04:57.03 You know what stands out immediately 00:04:57.06\00:04:58.59 is of the heart, the true heart, 00:04:58.63\00:05:01.16 having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience. 00:05:01.20\00:05:03.37 That's right. 00:05:03.40\00:05:04.73 This first step is a step 00:05:04.77\00:05:06.97 that you would take in preparing a message. 00:05:07.00\00:05:09.90 It is a step a teacher 00:05:09.94\00:05:12.51 would take in preparing a Bible class, 00:05:12.54\00:05:14.68 anything, it's about prayer and the Word. 00:05:14.71\00:05:16.91 Those are the connections 00:05:16.95\00:05:18.51 that we want them to God in His Word. 00:05:18.55\00:05:22.28 What do you have to say God about prayer, 00:05:22.32\00:05:24.55 and what does Your Word have to say? 00:05:24.59\00:05:25.92 And I'll tell you one of the things 00:05:25.95\00:05:28.92 I've grieved myself, 00:05:28.96\00:05:30.66 when I have not prepared and instead, 00:05:30.69\00:05:34.73 I've gone into church, grab the hymnal and just, 00:05:34.76\00:05:38.50 you know, almost by lottery picked out numbers, 00:05:38.53\00:05:41.64 you know, oh, today is the 11th, 00:05:41.67\00:05:43.77 and I'll go page 11, you know, 00:05:43.81\00:05:45.37 just random without any forethought and, 00:05:45.41\00:05:49.34 you know, sometimes that will work 00:05:49.38\00:05:50.88 if you've been doing... 00:05:50.91\00:05:52.25 You know, we all have scriptures 00:05:52.28\00:05:54.05 that we can go to that we can, 00:05:54.08\00:05:55.58 you know, expound on, but I do know that one time 00:05:55.62\00:05:58.22 I grabbed the wrong hymnal, 00:05:58.25\00:05:59.85 I was in a room that had a hymnal, 00:05:59.89\00:06:02.06 I had just assumed that was the hymnal 00:06:02.09\00:06:03.59 that was out in the sanctuary. 00:06:03.63\00:06:07.23 And so when I got to the piano, 00:06:07.26\00:06:09.23 I was calling out numbers that were different 00:06:09.26\00:06:12.93 from what the congregation had back when we used the book, 00:06:12.97\00:06:16.30 you know, solely when we didn't have any words 00:06:16.34\00:06:17.97 on the wall or that kind of thing. 00:06:18.01\00:06:19.34 So it pays to prepare 00:06:19.37\00:06:21.58 and this is a beautiful way to compare. 00:06:21.61\00:06:22.94 Absolutely, absolutely. 00:06:22.98\00:06:24.31 And I know you've had many... 00:06:24.35\00:06:25.68 No, absolutely. 00:06:25.71\00:06:27.05 That was a beautiful, beautiful point 00:06:27.08\00:06:28.42 to be made in connection with that scripture 00:06:28.45\00:06:29.78 that we just read in Hebrews 10:22, 23. 00:06:29.82\00:06:32.15 "Let us hold fast our confession and our hope 00:06:32.19\00:06:34.16 without wavering for He who promised is faithful." 00:06:34.19\00:06:37.19 We are serving a faithful God, 00:06:37.23\00:06:38.59 we're worshiping a faithful God, 00:06:38.63\00:06:39.96 and just making the point here that before you just jump 00:06:40.00\00:06:43.50 into that worship atmosphere, 00:06:43.53\00:06:44.93 that worship experience preparing the heart 00:06:44.97\00:06:47.17 for that worship experience is absolutely essential. 00:06:47.20\00:06:50.34 Which now sets us up 00:06:50.37\00:06:51.71 for kind of the preparation of it, you've prayed, 00:06:51.74\00:06:54.51 you've meditated on the Word of the Lord, 00:06:54.54\00:06:56.98 now you're in that mentality that zone, 00:06:57.01\00:06:59.58 that thinking method of, 00:06:59.61\00:07:01.78 "Okay, now, Lord, what would You have me to sing? 00:07:01.82\00:07:04.45 What would You have us to sing today for You to glorify You 00:07:04.49\00:07:08.32 and to bring glory to Your name? 00:07:08.36\00:07:10.13 And this is where the choice of song comes in 00:07:10.16\00:07:13.29 and that's always a preparation 00:07:13.33\00:07:15.03 that needs to be thoughtfully considered. 00:07:15.06\00:07:17.50 And so right here my point number two, 00:07:17.53\00:07:19.07 I'm just simply, 00:07:19.10\00:07:20.44 we're communicating the fact that selecting a balanced 00:07:20.47\00:07:23.51 variety of songs is crucial, 00:07:23.54\00:07:25.41 especially in the times that we're living because, 00:07:25.44\00:07:28.14 you know, you can look out at a congregation today. 00:07:28.18\00:07:30.25 And while there may be a vast majority 00:07:30.28\00:07:32.25 or so just a simple majority 00:07:32.28\00:07:33.85 of a certain age group, 00:07:33.88\00:07:35.78 most congregations have different age groups 00:07:35.82\00:07:39.05 and different generations that are represented 00:07:39.09\00:07:41.09 throughout the congregation. 00:07:41.12\00:07:42.46 And you want to make sure that each and every song 00:07:42.49\00:07:45.03 that you have included in that worship service 00:07:45.06\00:07:47.13 is going to reach the heart of every listener out there. 00:07:47.16\00:07:49.66 That there's something for everyone, 00:07:49.70\00:07:51.93 and oftentimes Tim, 00:07:51.97\00:07:53.64 some people get into this mentality 00:07:53.67\00:07:55.10 that only hymns, right, 00:07:55.14\00:07:56.60 and we're certainly not bashing the hymns, I love hymns. 00:07:56.64\00:07:58.67 Tim and I sing lots of hymns. 00:07:58.71\00:08:00.71 And I love the hymns 00:08:00.74\00:08:02.08 but there're some people out there that, 00:08:02.11\00:08:03.45 well, they enjoy the hymns, you know, an extra, 00:08:03.48\00:08:06.61 maybe it might be contemporary, 00:08:06.65\00:08:08.08 a newer modern spiritual song 00:08:08.12\00:08:09.82 of some kind is helpful to consider in that lineup, 00:08:09.85\00:08:13.32 when you're trying to create a balanced, 00:08:13.36\00:08:15.39 more variety of choice in your song choice. 00:08:15.42\00:08:18.69 So do you have anything you want to add to that 00:08:18.73\00:08:20.53 before we read this text here? 00:08:20.56\00:08:21.90 Well, I'll just say that, you know, 00:08:21.93\00:08:23.37 it's like going to a potluck or whatever, 00:08:23.40\00:08:27.17 you know, you've got a variety of food there 00:08:27.20\00:08:30.14 because if you had one thing, it's going to... 00:08:30.17\00:08:33.78 "Huh! Oh, this again." 00:08:33.81\00:08:35.14 The kind of like the manner, you know, 00:08:35.18\00:08:37.41 but honestly in this situation variety is a wonderful thing. 00:08:37.45\00:08:42.45 And I believe God loves variety. 00:08:42.48\00:08:44.52 He made all the different variety of flowers and trees 00:08:44.55\00:08:47.09 and animals and so. 00:08:47.12\00:08:48.46 So we consider 00:08:48.49\00:08:49.82 that He is a God of variety and opinions. 00:08:49.86\00:08:52.76 Everybody's got one. 00:08:52.79\00:08:54.13 Right. 00:08:54.16\00:08:55.50 But, you know, and it's impossible 00:08:55.53\00:08:56.87 to please everyone. 00:08:56.90\00:08:58.23 But this isn't about pleasing everyone, 00:08:58.27\00:08:59.60 this is about pleasing God. 00:08:59.63\00:09:00.97 So even if our preferences are one certain way, 00:09:01.00\00:09:04.74 if our words are worshiping God, 00:09:04.77\00:09:06.91 we have to say, "Hmm! 00:09:06.94\00:09:08.28 Well, I may consider this, 00:09:08.31\00:09:09.64 and I'll make it through to the end." 00:09:09.68\00:09:11.01 It's not going to last forever. 00:09:11.05\00:09:12.38 I love it. I love that. 00:09:12.41\00:09:13.75 No, I love what you just said. 00:09:13.78\00:09:15.12 Absolutely, just to reiterate the fact that we're not here 00:09:15.15\00:09:16.48 to please necessarily each other 00:09:16.52\00:09:17.85 while everybody has a preference or an opinion. 00:09:17.89\00:09:19.22 We are here to uplift God, this is for Him, right? 00:09:19.25\00:09:22.62 And I love what Colossians 3:16, 00:09:22.66\00:09:24.99 kind of along the same line 00:09:25.03\00:09:26.36 of what we're talking about as far as a variety of songs. 00:09:26.39\00:09:30.23 Colossians 3:16 says, "Let the word of Christ dwell 00:09:30.27\00:09:34.24 in you richly in all wisdom, 00:09:34.27\00:09:37.04 teaching and admonishing one another in psalms 00:09:37.07\00:09:40.81 and hymns and spiritual songs, 00:09:40.84\00:09:44.25 singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord." 00:09:44.28\00:09:47.42 And I just, I like that because, 00:09:47.45\00:09:49.32 again, I go back to what I said earlier, 00:09:49.35\00:09:51.15 I love the hymns, grew up on the hymns, 00:09:51.19\00:09:53.09 sing them all the time. 00:09:53.12\00:09:54.46 I find myself singing them all throughout the week 00:09:54.49\00:09:55.92 when I'm by myself but there are some people 00:09:55.96\00:09:57.99 that have that mentality that, 00:09:58.03\00:09:59.36 "Only the hymns are sacred, only the hymns can be sung or, 00:09:59.39\00:10:02.63 you know, used in church or in worship service." 00:10:02.66\00:10:05.57 But, you know, the Bible makes it very clear 00:10:05.60\00:10:07.77 whether it's a hymn or maybe you're singing 00:10:07.80\00:10:09.44 a psalm or maybe you're singing 00:10:09.47\00:10:11.37 just a spiritual song that may not necessarily 00:10:11.41\00:10:13.41 be categorized as a hymn, 00:10:13.44\00:10:15.14 maybe a contemporary worship song. 00:10:15.18\00:10:17.95 God accepts it all if it's coming from the heart 00:10:17.98\00:10:20.98 in the sense that if it's for Him, 00:10:21.02\00:10:22.68 and it's genuinely for Him 00:10:22.72\00:10:24.49 that we want to make sure that we're creating a variety, 00:10:24.52\00:10:27.56 where everyone can connect with the Lord 00:10:27.59\00:10:29.96 on a spiritual level in our worshipful experience. 00:10:29.99\00:10:32.79 So balance is key, make sure you get that balance 00:10:32.83\00:10:36.16 and you want to add anything else to that section? 00:10:36.20\00:10:37.57 Pretty much balanced. 00:10:37.60\00:10:38.93 Okay. 00:10:38.97\00:10:40.30 So far we're talking about preparing our hearts. 00:10:40.34\00:10:41.67 So make sure you meditate on the Word, 00:10:41.70\00:10:43.04 make sure you get plenty of prayer, 00:10:43.07\00:10:44.44 prepare the soil of the heart for that worship experience. 00:10:44.47\00:10:47.11 And now once you have prepared your heart. 00:10:47.14\00:10:48.94 Now it comes time to make those tough choices, 00:10:48.98\00:10:51.08 not really, but make the choices of selecting 00:10:51.11\00:10:53.65 a variety of balanced numbers of songs 00:10:53.68\00:10:57.52 that can reach everyone at all ages, 00:10:57.55\00:10:59.75 but most importantly, always brings glory to Him, 00:10:59.79\00:11:02.72 reverence, and honor and glory to our Lord. 00:11:02.76\00:11:05.89 Our third point here, 00:11:05.93\00:11:07.76 study to understand the message of what you're singing. 00:11:07.80\00:11:11.63 How many times, Tim, have you, you know, 00:11:11.67\00:11:13.74 maybe you've worked with someone 00:11:13.77\00:11:15.10 or maybe you yourself, 00:11:15.14\00:11:16.47 I had even done this before where I just kind of, again, 00:11:16.50\00:11:18.34 flump thumb through I've pick a song. 00:11:18.37\00:11:20.04 "Oh, yeah, I like this song." 00:11:20.08\00:11:21.84 And then it wasn't... 00:11:21.88\00:11:23.21 But probably years later that I actually read 00:11:23.24\00:11:25.31 the lyrics of that song and comprehended 00:11:25.35\00:11:28.28 what they were actually saying 00:11:28.32\00:11:29.65 because sometimes we get so caught up 00:11:29.68\00:11:31.12 in the musical aspect that we might like that melody, 00:11:31.15\00:11:33.96 we might like that particular rhythmic, you know... 00:11:33.99\00:11:37.36 Riff. 00:11:37.39\00:11:38.73 Whatever it is in the song, 00:11:38.76\00:11:40.10 "Oh, I like this, this is a nice song." 00:11:40.13\00:11:41.46 But we don't really consider what it is we're singing about. 00:11:41.50\00:11:43.60 Understand, comprehend the message of the song 00:11:43.63\00:11:47.24 that you were singing. 00:11:47.27\00:11:48.60 You are leading out in worship. 00:11:48.64\00:11:50.51 This is a form of a communication 00:11:50.54\00:11:52.14 of gospel, right? 00:11:52.17\00:11:53.51 You're communicating, 00:11:53.54\00:11:54.88 basically a mini-sermon through music, right? 00:11:54.91\00:11:58.28 And I love that because the Bible says, 00:11:58.31\00:12:00.95 you know, in 2 Timothy 2:15, 00:12:00.98\00:12:02.58 read that there, it's is a beautiful scripture. 00:12:02.62\00:12:04.52 "Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, 00:12:04.55\00:12:07.16 a worker who does not need to be ashamed, 00:12:07.19\00:12:09.09 rightly dividing the word of truth." 00:12:09.12\00:12:10.63 Amen. 00:12:10.66\00:12:11.99 So sometimes we have to stop and pause and say, 00:12:12.03\00:12:13.76 "Okay, I'm going to sing the song 00:12:13.80\00:12:15.73 but what am I singing about?" 00:12:15.76\00:12:17.33 So that when you're up there and you comprehend 00:12:17.37\00:12:18.90 what it is you're seeing about, it makes sense. 00:12:18.93\00:12:21.40 It's what you would do if you were preaching a text, 00:12:21.44\00:12:23.74 you would, you know, study the commentaries, 00:12:23.77\00:12:25.51 study the Greek and the Hebrew whatever would be appropriate. 00:12:25.54\00:12:29.14 Amen. Yeah. 00:12:29.18\00:12:30.51 So that's... 00:12:30.55\00:12:31.88 I was thinking like, there's an old song, 00:12:31.91\00:12:33.35 old Adventist hymn, I don't even know 00:12:33.38\00:12:34.72 if it's an Adventist hymn. 00:12:34.75\00:12:36.08 I just know it's an old hymn that Adventists sing 00:12:36.12\00:12:38.15 for many, many years. 00:12:38.19\00:12:39.52 And it's the song never part again. 00:12:39.55\00:12:41.39 I can't imagine singing that song just to be singing it 00:12:41.42\00:12:44.49 because when you read the lyrics of the song. 00:12:44.53\00:12:47.43 It's powerful, just to consider. 00:12:47.46\00:12:49.53 Let's do the verse three there. 00:12:49.56\00:12:51.17 Could we but stand where Moses stood 00:12:52.83\00:13:00.14 And view the landscape o'er 00:13:00.18\00:13:07.18 Not all this world's 00:13:07.22\00:13:10.42 Pretended good 00:13:10.45\00:13:15.52 Could ever charm us more 00:13:15.56\00:13:22.36 And I love that song there just because the music's beautiful, 00:13:22.40\00:13:26.43 it just grips your heart, right? 00:13:26.47\00:13:30.14 And it's easy for somebody to get caught up in that 00:13:30.17\00:13:32.11 but if you stop and think about what you're singing about. 00:13:32.14\00:13:35.14 "Could we stand where Moses stood 00:13:35.18\00:13:37.88 and view the landscape o'er." 00:13:37.91\00:13:39.58 It's talking about that promised land 00:13:39.61\00:13:42.15 that we're going to inherit one day, right? 00:13:42.18\00:13:44.75 And it goes on to talk about in the course, you know, 00:13:44.79\00:13:46.72 we're traveling to Emanuel's land, 00:13:46.76\00:13:49.46 we soon shall hear the trumpet sound, 00:13:49.49\00:13:52.23 talking about the Second Coming of Jesus. 00:13:52.26\00:13:54.40 And soon we shall with Jesus reign 00:13:54.43\00:13:58.73 And never, never part again 00:13:58.77\00:14:05.54 And so songs like this and any song that you sing 00:14:05.57\00:14:09.64 that you include in your worship experience, 00:14:09.68\00:14:11.95 you should know the message of that song. 00:14:11.98\00:14:14.12 Because when you know the message of the song 00:14:14.15\00:14:15.72 and the message of the song has gripped your heart 00:14:15.75\00:14:17.79 when you get up there and perform it, 00:14:17.82\00:14:19.39 when you get up there and sing it 00:14:19.42\00:14:20.76 whether you're on the piano 00:14:20.79\00:14:22.12 or whether you're behind the mic and singing 00:14:22.16\00:14:23.89 or whether you're out in the audience, 00:14:23.93\00:14:26.09 in the crowd, in the congregation 00:14:26.13\00:14:27.86 and you're just singing to the Lord, 00:14:27.90\00:14:29.30 it grips your heart, it means so much more. 00:14:29.33\00:14:31.97 Yeah, two things. 00:14:32.00\00:14:33.64 There are great stories behind songs 00:14:33.67\00:14:36.17 that will help you understand 00:14:36.20\00:14:37.97 where the writer is coming from, 00:14:38.01\00:14:39.84 and that is brilliant to know. 00:14:39.87\00:14:41.78 And it's not something necessarily... 00:14:41.81\00:14:43.14 I know a lot of worship leaders who might get up 00:14:43.18\00:14:46.08 and tell the story, 00:14:46.11\00:14:47.58 that might be a little bit cumbersome in a service, 00:14:47.62\00:14:50.92 sometimes it is appropriate but more importantly 00:14:50.95\00:14:53.76 is if you know as a leader, 00:14:53.79\00:14:56.22 you know where the writer was coming from, 00:14:56.26\00:14:58.16 it's extremely, that's vital, you know, 00:14:58.19\00:15:00.56 it's just like again knowing 00:15:00.60\00:15:02.16 the writer of a book in the Bible, 00:15:02.20\00:15:04.13 you kind of know where they're coming from, 00:15:04.17\00:15:05.87 it means a lot more. 00:15:05.90\00:15:07.24 And also the... 00:15:07.27\00:15:08.60 I love the Adventist, 00:15:08.64\00:15:11.51 what is the thing that goes along with the hymnal, 00:15:11.54\00:15:15.11 there's a book that tells 00:15:15.14\00:15:16.95 in fact some of the stories behind the songs. 00:15:16.98\00:15:19.11 And so that's just hugely vital, 00:15:19.15\00:15:22.52 again, not every service has time to go into stories, 00:15:22.55\00:15:27.12 and I've heard worship leaders get up and expound 00:15:27.16\00:15:30.46 a little too much, and it's like, 00:15:30.49\00:15:32.49 "Okay, we're losing the flow." 00:15:32.53\00:15:33.90 And so that's important not to talk too much 00:15:33.93\00:15:36.20 like I get guilty of sometimes. 00:15:36.23\00:15:38.63 That's like my life, man. 00:15:38.67\00:15:40.00 Well, but so anyway... 00:15:40.04\00:15:41.37 No this is a... 00:15:41.40\00:15:42.74 It's very important to know that. 00:15:42.77\00:15:44.11 No, that's a great point that you just made. 00:15:44.14\00:15:45.47 The story. Back to the song. 00:15:45.51\00:15:46.84 Absolutely. 00:15:46.88\00:15:48.21 And you know what, 00:15:48.24\00:15:49.58 what we're speaking of right now, 00:15:49.61\00:15:50.95 it can be accomplished very good, 00:15:50.98\00:15:52.31 especially with the leadership team, 00:15:52.35\00:15:53.68 the ones that are up. 00:15:53.72\00:15:55.05 Have practice sessions. 00:15:55.08\00:15:56.42 You know, be prepared before you get up there. 00:15:56.45\00:15:58.52 I know that Tim and I have worked together in, 00:15:58.55\00:16:00.96 you know, leading out worship 00:16:00.99\00:16:02.32 before here at Thompsonville Church. 00:16:02.36\00:16:03.69 And so we have those practice sessions 00:16:03.73\00:16:05.96 when we come before him, 00:16:05.99\00:16:07.33 we familiarize ourselves with the song, 00:16:07.36\00:16:09.33 and we'll take time to read the lyrics 00:16:09.36\00:16:10.87 to understand the lyrics, 00:16:10.90\00:16:12.23 so that when we're going out there 00:16:12.27\00:16:13.60 and we're going to lead out and represent the Lord 00:16:13.64\00:16:15.80 in this worship experience. 00:16:15.84\00:16:17.44 You know, it's gripped our hearts beforehand, 00:16:17.47\00:16:19.31 and we hope that that trends transpires, 00:16:19.34\00:16:22.94 connects, translates out there 00:16:22.98\00:16:24.95 to those who are listening 00:16:24.98\00:16:26.31 and participating in the worship. 00:16:26.35\00:16:27.68 Through to the point 00:16:27.72\00:16:29.05 that we've even skipped over versus 00:16:29.08\00:16:30.42 if we didn't feel like that was appropriate, 00:16:30.45\00:16:32.42 you know, for that particular occasion 00:16:32.45\00:16:34.69 or if it's something that we didn't feel like 00:16:34.72\00:16:36.42 we were confident in expressing. 00:16:36.46\00:16:38.73 We will skip over that. 00:16:38.76\00:16:40.10 Absolutely, absolutely. 00:16:40.13\00:16:41.46 I'd rather, I'd rather skip it then. 00:16:41.50\00:16:42.83 You know, did you want to give us... 00:16:42.86\00:16:44.20 You had kind of a something prepared 00:16:44.23\00:16:45.63 or maybe? 00:16:45.67\00:16:47.00 Well, you know, I just have like a... 00:16:47.04\00:16:48.60 It's really more of a just a little worship set, 00:16:48.64\00:16:52.17 sometimes this is kind of a little bit of a diversion, 00:16:52.21\00:16:55.24 but along the same path 00:16:55.28\00:16:56.61 that we're choosing songs, 00:16:56.64\00:17:00.68 again it's an amazing process, 00:17:00.72\00:17:04.55 but I was just, you know, after spending time 00:17:04.59\00:17:09.42 praying and doing just some reading a few psalms. 00:17:09.46\00:17:13.09 My heart was stirred to start with praise Him, 00:17:13.13\00:17:15.80 praise Him right off the hymnal 00:17:15.83\00:17:17.40 and this is important also in this hymnal, 00:17:17.43\00:17:21.20 the Adventist hymnal it's in the key F G. 00:17:21.24\00:17:23.64 So... 00:17:23.67\00:17:25.27 Praise Him, praise Him... 00:17:25.31\00:17:26.81 Ever in joyful song. 00:17:29.91\00:17:32.41 Really be cautious of what key you're singing, 00:17:32.45\00:17:35.22 and you know these days we listen to the radio 00:17:35.25\00:17:38.12 and lot of our songs are artist-driven 00:17:38.15\00:17:42.22 that make it really difficult for a congregation 00:17:42.26\00:17:44.63 to sing along with. 00:17:44.66\00:17:46.09 So even if it is a song that you love 00:17:46.13\00:17:48.96 and you hear on the radio, 00:17:49.00\00:17:50.33 consider well this might be better sing along able 00:17:50.37\00:17:53.94 as we would say in a key 00:17:53.97\00:17:55.74 that for the whole audience can sing with. 00:17:55.77\00:17:57.91 But that one is easy 00:17:57.94\00:17:59.27 because it's already in the key of G, 00:17:59.31\00:18:01.71 which is in the hymnal. 00:18:01.74\00:18:03.08 And then out of that I went into 10,000 reasons 00:18:03.11\00:18:09.02 which is a popular modern hymn. 00:18:09.05\00:18:10.39 I support for hymn to a modern temporary... 00:18:10.42\00:18:13.69 Ever in joyful song 00:18:13.72\00:18:17.66 I'm going to the key F D. 00:18:17.69\00:18:19.29 The sun comes up 00:18:22.33\00:18:24.43 It's a new day dawning 00:18:24.47\00:18:27.24 So two things there, there's a little segue 00:18:27.27\00:18:29.60 going out of ever in joyful song, song. 00:18:29.64\00:18:33.54 And then, instead of just doing like a cold turkey, kind of, 00:18:33.58\00:18:36.88 okay, stop... 00:18:36.91\00:18:38.38 Yeah, everybody has to rearrange. 00:18:38.41\00:18:40.22 You keep the flow going, and keep the music going. 00:18:40.25\00:18:42.85 And this takes... It does take. 00:18:42.88\00:18:44.72 This is a like a whole other seminar 00:18:44.75\00:18:46.49 for the church musicians, 00:18:46.52\00:18:48.56 but it's still, the idea is to keep things 00:18:48.59\00:18:50.86 the flow of it. 00:18:50.89\00:18:52.23 And so... 00:18:52.26\00:18:53.60 Bless the Lord, oh my soul 00:18:53.63\00:18:55.00 Oh my soul 00:18:55.03\00:18:57.07 I worship your Holy name 00:18:57.10\00:19:00.27 And then we go to just raise up a half a step, 00:19:00.30\00:19:03.17 we're building up, it's again, it's a chorus, 00:19:03.20\00:19:06.37 but it's an older chorus. 00:19:06.41\00:19:08.11 Bless the Lord, oh my soul 00:19:08.14\00:19:11.98 And all that is within me 00:19:12.01\00:19:15.12 Bless His Holy Name 00:19:15.15\00:19:19.02 You can continue on with that a little bit 00:19:19.05\00:19:20.89 and then... 00:19:20.92\00:19:22.26 I serve a risen Saviour 00:19:22.29\00:19:25.06 He's in the world today 00:19:25.09\00:19:27.13 He lives, you ask me how I know He lives 00:19:27.16\00:19:30.53 He lives within my heart 00:19:30.57\00:19:33.44 So, you've come back to a hymn? 00:19:33.47\00:19:35.47 Yeah, so it's hymn. 00:19:35.50\00:19:36.84 You know, and you can change it up, 00:19:36.87\00:19:38.21 you know, there's times we've done, 00:19:38.24\00:19:39.57 and it's been like hymn, contemporary, 00:19:39.61\00:19:40.94 hymn, contemporary. 00:19:40.98\00:19:42.31 Right, right. 00:19:42.34\00:19:43.68 We may be encouraged a day to do three hymns 00:19:43.71\00:19:45.05 and then a contemporary 00:19:45.08\00:19:46.41 or, you know, three contemporaries 00:19:46.45\00:19:47.78 and a hymn but most of the time 00:19:47.82\00:19:49.15 you want to create a balanced approach to it. 00:19:49.18\00:19:50.52 And I love what you did there with the hymn 00:19:50.55\00:19:51.89 and then the two contemporaries 00:19:51.92\00:19:53.25 and you came back around with that power hymn. 00:19:53.29\00:19:54.62 And musically if you know the musicality part of it, 00:19:54.66\00:19:58.69 you're again, you're building, 00:19:58.73\00:20:00.36 and you're also singing songs 00:20:00.40\00:20:02.13 that are not only vertical where you're worshiping, 00:20:02.16\00:20:06.10 but you're singing songs that are testimonies 00:20:06.13\00:20:07.87 horizontal to each other, 00:20:07.90\00:20:09.70 you're telling each other, 00:20:09.74\00:20:11.07 He lives, and you're praising Him. 00:20:11.11\00:20:12.67 So there's a lot of things that are... 00:20:12.71\00:20:17.58 You have to consider, you have taken consideration. 00:20:17.61\00:20:19.78 And what's your saying all that you're saying makes 00:20:19.81\00:20:21.68 absolutely perfect sense. 00:20:21.72\00:20:23.39 And as you were doing that I can imagine 00:20:23.42\00:20:25.75 someone at home is watching and going, 00:20:25.79\00:20:27.46 "Oh, man, you know, but, Tim, can do that 00:20:27.49\00:20:29.42 I'm not necessarily can do that." 00:20:29.46\00:20:31.19 You know, it may take some practice 00:20:31.23\00:20:32.63 that's where practice comes in, 00:20:32.66\00:20:34.16 invest yourself into practicing to become more skilled 00:20:34.20\00:20:36.97 and more comfortable with the talent 00:20:37.00\00:20:38.93 and the gift that God has already given you, right? 00:20:38.97\00:20:41.07 And so not everyone has to be in Tim Parton 00:20:41.10\00:20:43.14 but you know what there's someone out there 00:20:43.17\00:20:44.97 they can God has still blessed with the talent and the skill 00:20:45.01\00:20:47.48 to play for Him 00:20:47.51\00:20:48.84 and to represent Him in this musical way. 00:20:48.88\00:20:51.01 That also leads me to my next point, 00:20:51.05\00:20:52.81 lead with confidence, right? 00:20:52.85\00:20:55.18 Sing with confidence whether you're again on, 00:20:55.22\00:20:57.92 you know, up there leading out or you're setting 00:20:57.95\00:21:00.39 I've even seen people setting in the congregation, 00:21:00.42\00:21:02.49 they're so terrified for others around them 00:21:02.52\00:21:03.93 to hear them singing, 00:21:03.96\00:21:05.29 and while you know none of us 00:21:05.33\00:21:06.66 really like someone who sings off tune 00:21:06.70\00:21:08.03 to God's ears it sounds beautiful, right? 00:21:08.06\00:21:09.86 You know, it may not sound very good our human ears, 00:21:09.90\00:21:11.97 but we're not singing it for them, anyway, 00:21:12.00\00:21:13.34 we're singing it for the Lord, right? 00:21:13.37\00:21:15.04 And so lead with confidence, 00:21:15.07\00:21:16.60 pray beforehand to ask the Lord to diminish 00:21:16.64\00:21:19.91 and to get rid of all of those 00:21:19.94\00:21:21.54 to completely eliminate all the nerves and the fears 00:21:21.58\00:21:24.08 because we serve a God who was promised us, 00:21:24.11\00:21:25.91 Isaiah 41:10, I love this. 00:21:25.95\00:21:28.35 God says, "Fear not, for I am with you. 00:21:28.38\00:21:30.89 Be not dismayed, for I am your God. 00:21:30.92\00:21:32.55 I will strengthen you. 00:21:32.59\00:21:33.92 Yes, I will help you, 00:21:33.96\00:21:35.29 I will uphold you with a right hand 00:21:35.32\00:21:36.79 of my righteousness." 00:21:36.83\00:21:39.23 And also with that confidence, 00:21:39.26\00:21:41.00 don't be afraid to use your body language 00:21:41.03\00:21:43.87 to express your worship. 00:21:43.90\00:21:45.43 I'm not talking about, you know, running around 00:21:45.47\00:21:46.94 and skipping and flopping and dancing and all that stuff, 00:21:46.97\00:21:49.34 but you know what, sometimes when I'm worshiping the Lord, 00:21:49.37\00:21:52.74 you know, I'm worshiping the Lord 00:21:52.77\00:21:54.11 and I may end up worshiping Him 00:21:54.14\00:21:55.84 with uplifted hands and that's biblical. 00:21:55.88\00:21:58.18 That's because dozens of texts where God says, 00:21:58.21\00:21:59.95 you know, "The people praised him 00:21:59.98\00:22:01.85 with extended hands or uplifted hands." 00:22:01.88\00:22:03.82 Maybe I'll be singing a song and I use my body language 00:22:03.85\00:22:07.79 I use my facial expressions 00:22:07.82\00:22:10.59 to communicate a sense of worship, you're not... 00:22:10.63\00:22:13.73 Again, don't do it in an artificial 00:22:13.76\00:22:17.57 and fake ways if you're overly expressive, 00:22:17.60\00:22:19.43 we don't want this to turn into variety, 00:22:19.47\00:22:21.84 you know, variety hour 00:22:21.87\00:22:23.27 but you're worshiping the Lord, 00:22:23.30\00:22:24.97 don't be afraid to express yourself 00:22:25.01\00:22:27.18 in a heartfelt loving way, 00:22:27.21\00:22:29.11 when you're worshiping the Lord. 00:22:29.14\00:22:30.48 I know, oftentimes, sometimes we think that, 00:22:30.51\00:22:32.05 you know, concept of be still and know that I am God. 00:22:32.08\00:22:34.12 And so we literally are just like 00:22:34.15\00:22:35.72 in our worship experience. 00:22:35.75\00:22:37.09 You can totally be reverent in your demonstrativeness, 00:22:37.12\00:22:40.56 you know, as a pastor we watch pastors 00:22:40.59\00:22:43.36 and we enjoyed the highs and the lows 00:22:43.39\00:22:46.66 of how they demonstrate whenever they preach. 00:22:46.70\00:22:49.56 It's, you know, they can be strong 00:22:49.60\00:22:51.63 and they can be soft. 00:22:51.67\00:22:53.54 So, yeah, it's just a great, being a great presenter 00:22:53.57\00:22:57.41 in what you do. 00:22:57.44\00:22:58.77 And yeah, you're presenting the song and it's... 00:22:58.81\00:23:00.24 That's why you're the leader. 00:23:00.28\00:23:02.28 And also, whenever you are demonstrative 00:23:02.31\00:23:05.11 and are free to worship your audience, 00:23:05.15\00:23:08.48 your congregation will follow at your lead. 00:23:08.52\00:23:10.05 Amen, amen. 00:23:10.09\00:23:11.42 And with that confidence, I believe, is very important. 00:23:11.45\00:23:14.02 This brings us to our point number five, 00:23:14.06\00:23:15.89 and that is, create a joyful worship experience. 00:23:15.92\00:23:20.83 Oh, Lord, help me. 00:23:20.86\00:23:23.13 You know, this is something I believe 00:23:23.16\00:23:25.33 that even I myself have had to learn, 00:23:25.37\00:23:27.87 you know, as I've grown 00:23:27.90\00:23:29.24 in my Adventist worship experience. 00:23:29.27\00:23:31.27 Again, we want to stick to that worshiping Him 00:23:31.31\00:23:33.24 in Spirit and in Truth. 00:23:33.27\00:23:34.61 We don't want to be like the world. 00:23:34.64\00:23:35.98 We don't want to, you know, exemplify 00:23:36.01\00:23:38.48 or bring the world into our worship experience 00:23:38.51\00:23:40.72 but we want to be genuine in our approach. 00:23:40.75\00:23:42.98 And I believe if you truly have a relationship 00:23:43.02\00:23:45.09 with your Creator. 00:23:45.12\00:23:46.49 It's going to be clear in your presence 00:23:46.52\00:23:48.99 and in what you're projecting, 00:23:49.02\00:23:50.79 you're going to be joyful and happy about it, 00:23:50.83\00:23:52.56 you know, again, not trying to be disrespectful 00:23:52.59\00:23:54.30 or anything like that, 00:23:54.33\00:23:55.66 but I have been to worship services where it's, you know, 00:23:55.70\00:23:58.40 we were singing. 00:23:58.43\00:24:00.57 He lives, you know... 00:24:00.60\00:24:03.04 I serve a risen Saviour, 00:24:03.07\00:24:08.18 He's in the world today 00:24:08.21\00:24:12.25 So there's nothing wrong with that necessarily 00:24:12.28\00:24:15.75 'cause there maybe someone back there goes, 00:24:15.78\00:24:17.12 "Oh, this was beautiful, this is wonderful," 00:24:17.15\00:24:18.75 but certainly create, you know, express it in a way 00:24:18.79\00:24:22.02 and create in a way where it's a joyful experience. 00:24:22.06\00:24:24.43 There's nothing wrong with picking, 00:24:24.46\00:24:26.56 you know, picking your face up, 00:24:26.59\00:24:27.93 being happy and singing about your risen Savior, right? 00:24:27.96\00:24:31.17 You know, I had somebody tell me... 00:24:31.20\00:24:32.67 A minister one time said to me, "Are you happy for Jesus." 00:24:32.70\00:24:35.57 And I said, "Well, of course, I am." 00:24:35.60\00:24:36.94 He said, "Well, then tell your face about it." 00:24:36.97\00:24:38.31 You know, right? Right. Right. 00:24:38.34\00:24:40.01 Yeah, and you know what, 00:24:40.04\00:24:41.38 it doesn't even have to be a fast song to be joyful. 00:24:41.41\00:24:42.98 Exactly. No. 00:24:43.01\00:24:44.51 Slow can be joyful, 00:24:44.55\00:24:45.88 it's the way you sing it with the confidence, 00:24:45.91\00:24:48.52 the love, yeah. 00:24:48.55\00:24:50.09 You know, "Great is thy faithfulness," 00:24:50.12\00:24:51.45 that's not a very fast song 00:24:51.49\00:24:52.82 but it was just pouring your heart. 00:24:52.85\00:24:54.19 Great is thy faithfulness 00:24:54.22\00:24:57.63 Great is thy faithfulness 00:24:57.66\00:25:00.33 You know when I sing that song 00:25:00.36\00:25:01.70 I'm thinking great is His faithfulness, right? 00:25:01.73\00:25:03.06 Right. 00:25:03.10\00:25:04.43 I love the Scripture in Psalm 100:1, 2, 00:25:04.47\00:25:06.27 "Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth, 00:25:06.30\00:25:08.57 worship the Lord with gladness, 00:25:08.60\00:25:10.27 Come before Him with joyful songs." 00:25:10.31\00:25:12.34 But let me tell you that 00:25:12.37\00:25:14.01 as someone who has led worship, 00:25:14.04\00:25:16.18 someone who has stepped on the platform 00:25:16.21\00:25:17.91 after receiving a terrible phone call, 00:25:17.95\00:25:20.28 after someone has in the congregation 00:25:20.32\00:25:22.18 has said, "You know, I don't like the song 00:25:22.22\00:25:24.09 that you choosed, really, chose. 00:25:24.12\00:25:27.82 So there are a lot of things... 00:25:27.86\00:25:30.83 And this goes for a pastor 00:25:30.86\00:25:32.93 or anyone that who has dealt with the congregation. 00:25:32.96\00:25:38.73 You have to really be careful what you let into your spirit. 00:25:38.77\00:25:41.37 That's right. 00:25:41.40\00:25:42.74 You know, again, everybody has opinions 00:25:42.77\00:25:44.47 but don't let the negative comment 00:25:44.51\00:25:47.78 or something that you've after all the time 00:25:47.81\00:25:49.78 you've spent in the word 00:25:49.81\00:25:51.15 after all the time you've spent preparing 00:25:51.18\00:25:52.51 and praying, 00:25:52.55\00:25:53.88 someone can come along and put a needle 00:25:53.92\00:25:56.02 in your balloon faster than all of that. 00:25:56.05\00:25:59.15 That's right, that's right. 00:25:59.19\00:26:00.52 So don't let that discourage you 00:26:00.56\00:26:02.32 because God is still worthy of our praise, 00:26:02.36\00:26:04.39 no matter what's going on our circumstances, 00:26:04.43\00:26:06.46 they can get us down but our prayers go on. 00:26:06.49\00:26:08.23 A joyful experience that's what we're shooting for. 00:26:08.26\00:26:10.40 That's the goal. 00:26:10.43\00:26:11.77 You know, another one is, 00:26:11.80\00:26:13.13 you know, don't be afraid 00:26:13.17\00:26:14.50 to include multiple instruments. 00:26:14.54\00:26:15.87 The Bible encourages us 00:26:15.90\00:26:17.24 that there's all kinds of different beautiful instruments 00:26:17.27\00:26:18.87 that we can use for His glory. 00:26:18.91\00:26:20.88 Psalm 150:3-5. And read that, Tim. 00:26:20.91\00:26:23.31 "Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet, 00:26:23.35\00:26:25.08 praise Him with the lute and harp! 00:26:25.11\00:26:26.72 Praise Him with the timbrel and dance, 00:26:26.75\00:26:28.55 praise Him with stringed instruments 00:26:28.58\00:26:29.92 and flutes. 00:26:29.95\00:26:31.29 Praise the Lord with cymbals, 00:26:31.32\00:26:32.95 praise Him with clashing cymbals." 00:26:32.99\00:26:34.46 You know, could you imagine coming into church 00:26:34.49\00:26:36.29 and, Praise the Lord! 00:26:36.32\00:26:38.29 You know, some people might be, 00:26:38.33\00:26:40.10 "Oh, you know, that's not reverend." 00:26:40.13\00:26:42.06 But nonetheless, you know, there are a list here 00:26:42.10\00:26:44.57 that are biblical, 00:26:44.60\00:26:45.93 you know, the most important thing 00:26:45.97\00:26:47.30 is the principle of this text 00:26:47.34\00:26:48.67 is don't be afraid to break out the guitar, 00:26:48.70\00:26:50.17 you know, and bring that together 00:26:50.21\00:26:51.54 with the piano 00:26:51.57\00:26:52.91 and bring it together with the flute and the violin 00:26:52.94\00:26:54.71 and, you know, to worship the God 00:26:54.74\00:26:56.41 in an organized melodic, harmonic manner 00:26:56.44\00:26:59.55 to just bring an abundance of joy 00:26:59.58\00:27:02.32 and worshipful expression to Him in song. 00:27:02.35\00:27:03.99 Enforce the more musicians you have, 00:27:04.02\00:27:05.65 more instruments you involve you must practice. 00:27:05.69\00:27:07.16 Practice, practice. 00:27:07.19\00:27:08.52 So please practice, for goodness' sake 00:27:08.56\00:27:09.89 and for the Lord's sake. 00:27:09.92\00:27:11.26 I love that. I love that. 00:27:11.29\00:27:12.63 Man, we've just like a minute and a half here. 00:27:12.66\00:27:14.00 I think the last thing I think that we could do 00:27:14.03\00:27:15.50 is just encourage your congregation, 00:27:15.53\00:27:17.97 and this goes for even the people 00:27:18.00\00:27:19.40 out in the congregation, 00:27:19.43\00:27:20.84 encourage the next person the person next to you. 00:27:20.87\00:27:23.30 If they see you singing with joy, 00:27:23.34\00:27:25.04 they see you're enjoying the worship experience. 00:27:25.07\00:27:27.24 It's kind of, you know, it's infectious. 00:27:27.28\00:27:29.71 Contagious, absolutely. 00:27:29.74\00:27:31.08 It's contagious, right? Yes. 00:27:31.11\00:27:32.45 And so we need to learn to encourage others 00:27:32.48\00:27:34.02 to sing with us while we're... 00:27:34.05\00:27:35.95 When we have visitors coming to the church, 00:27:35.98\00:27:38.52 they go through this, 00:27:38.55\00:27:39.89 this is a really important part to for them to really... 00:27:39.92\00:27:43.76 What are you worshiping, why are you worshiping? 00:27:43.79\00:27:45.76 So why are you so sad when you worship 00:27:45.79\00:27:48.03 if that's the way you worship. 00:27:48.06\00:27:49.56 Yeah, so it's important 00:27:49.60\00:27:51.20 to show others how excited you are. 00:27:51.23\00:27:53.74 Right. Right. Absolutely. 00:27:53.77\00:27:55.20 You know what, it may lead to the leader, 00:27:55.24\00:27:58.51 the person leading out to have to prompt people to sing, 00:27:58.54\00:28:01.14 you know, we're writing over the song, 00:28:01.18\00:28:02.71 and I say, "Sing this out for Jesus." 00:28:02.74\00:28:04.91 And it prompts them to let them know 00:28:04.95\00:28:06.31 it's okay to sing out right, 00:28:06.35\00:28:07.92 encourage them to participate. 00:28:07.95\00:28:09.88 I love Psalm 150:6, 00:28:09.92\00:28:11.32 God takes thing and tie everything together, 00:28:11.35\00:28:12.75 read that for us, Tim. 00:28:12.79\00:28:14.12 "Let everything, everything, everything that has breath 00:28:14.16\00:28:17.19 praise the Lord. 00:28:17.23\00:28:18.56 Praise the Lord!" Amen. I love that. 00:28:18.59\00:28:19.93 Praise the Lord. 00:28:19.96\00:28:21.30 There's a song I used to sing, you know. 00:28:21.33\00:28:22.66 Let everything that has breath praise the Lord 00:28:22.70\00:28:26.10 That's what it's about. 00:28:26.13\00:28:27.47 It's about giving homage to Him, 00:28:27.50\00:28:28.84 it's about giving praise to Him and glory to Him, 00:28:28.87\00:28:30.77 and we hope that your worship experience, 00:28:30.81\00:28:32.94 we hope you can take some of the things 00:28:32.97\00:28:34.31 that we've talked about, 00:28:34.34\00:28:35.68 incorporate them in your worship experience. 00:28:35.71\00:28:37.21 The most important thing, remember, 00:28:37.25\00:28:38.91 to God be the glory, great things He has done, 00:28:38.95\00:28:42.22 it's not about us, it's about Him. 00:28:42.25\00:28:44.35 He must increase, we must decrease. 00:28:44.39\00:28:47.92 And we just thank you for joining us. 00:28:47.96\00:28:49.66 We hope you learned something. God bless you. 00:28:49.69\00:28:51.73 Until next time have a good day. 00:28:51.76\00:28:53.50
