I want to take us now

to John Chapter 4

because this is really
gonna set the foundation

for what we're gonna talk

remainder of the time

this half hour together.

But John Chapter 4,

Chapter 4 automatically,

begin to think of that

conversation that Jesus had

with the woman at the well.

And indeed, as
powerful as that encounter was,

I'm actually
highlighting a text here

that comes
immediately after that encounter

that Jesus had with
the woman at the well.

Now keep in
mind, during this time

the disciples have went
into the nearest town to buy,

you know, supplies and food

because obviously,
they've been traveling

and they're going
throughout Samaria and Judea,
00:03:44.35\00:03:46.32
and all the other parts,

and Jesus is
preaching the gospel,

He's began His ministry.

And so now the
disciples have returned,

you can imagine the
woman that Jesus had

the encounter
with her at the well.

She ran into
town to tell everyone

about this man that
she had an encounter

with the Messiah.

And so now the
disciples have come,

they've rejoined with Jesus.

And it's interesting there

because they
show up and they say,

"Hey, Jesus, look, you
know, we brought You some food,

we brought You
something to drink,

you know, eat up, you
know, get Your strength,
00:04:11.15\00:04:12.68
we got to keep moving forward."

And Jesus says
something interesting.

He says, "Look, you know,
00:04:15.82\00:04:17.15
I have food that you
don't even know about."

And you can just imagine,

as the scripture
actually shows there

is they turn to one another,

and they're saying, you know,
"Hey, did you give Him food?
00:04:24.63\00:04:26.46
Did you?" No, I
didn't give Him food.
00:04:26.49\00:04:27.93
Did this brother
bring a lunch. I didn't.

We didn't see
him bring anything.
00:04:29.56\00:04:31.03
And then Jesus clarifies,
notice, this is John 4:34.

Notice what Jesus then says.

It says, "Jesus said to them,

'My food is to
do the will of Him
00:04:40.41\00:04:43.98
who sent Me, and
to finish His work.'"

I love that so simple,
but yet very, very profound.

And that is the fact that Jesus,

He made it clear.

Yes, I've come to
seek and save the lost.

about the preaching
of the kingdom of heaven,

is to do the will of Him

"and to finish His work."

I want to ask you,

as Seventh-day
Adventist Christians

living in these last days,

is our agenda any different

than that of Jesus
nearly 2,000 years ago?

My friends, when Jesus said,

He came to do the
will of His father,

and to finish His work.

what our agenda is.

very name, the very name,

it tells a story, very similar

to the one that you see Jesus

telling right
there in John 4:34.

You see, when you think
about Seventh-day Adventist,
00:06:06.70\00:06:09.66
again, many people's
mind immediately go to
00:06:09.70\00:06:12.00
exactly what it means,
which is the seventh day
00:06:12.03\00:06:14.50
pointing back to the fact that
00:06:14.54\00:06:15.90
we are a people
who believe in keeping
00:06:15.94\00:06:18.01
all the commandments of
God, but more specifically,
00:06:18.04\00:06:20.54
and upholding
the one commandment
00:06:20.58\00:06:21.91
that the rest of
the world has forgotten,
00:06:21.94\00:06:23.55
the fourth commandment
of the Ten Commandments,
00:06:23.58\00:06:25.35
which points us to the fact that

we need to be
honoring and upholding

and observing the
seventh day of the week

as the Sabbath of the Lord.

And, of course, Adventist,
anybody who is looking forward

and striving to
prepare for the soon coming,

that is the return,

the Second Coming of
Jesus is an Adventist.

but I want to submit

there's something deeper,

us back to creation

mention seventh day,

it's gonna take you back

to the root of the
seventh day Sabbath,

which is at creation week.

And we see there if you
read in the first few verses

You see there, God, you know,

as He's created the seventh day,

He done three things
on the seventh day that

He didn't do to any of
the other six days, right?

He rest, He
blessed, He made holy,

sanctified the seventh day,
but the fact that He rested.

He did indeed rest.

But it's powerful to consider
what that word rest means.

When you go into the
original Hebrew there,

it simply means
that He finished,

He ceased His labors.

He finished, He ceased His work.

What did Jesus say in John 4:34,

My friends, Jesus
finished His work at creation,

when He brought about
the seventh day Sabbath,

and He rested on
that seventh day Sabbath.

ceased from His labors,

Now you come 4,000
some odd years later,

now Jesus is
preaching the same message,

forward to living out

and being prepared
for the soon coming

We are commissioned not to
just go tell people something.

different little groups

messages that they teach

as a part of the
