Well hello everybody. 00:00:15.65\00:00:17.00 Welcome again to Anchor Bible school. 00:00:17.03\00:00:19.12 We're glad you're here. 00:00:19.15\00:00:20.18 Have you been having a good time? 00:00:20.21\00:00:21.78 Praise the Lord. 00:00:22.17\00:00:23.20 It's wonderful to study the Word, isn't it. 00:00:23.23\00:00:25.36 In fact, it's better than eating physical food. 00:00:25.56\00:00:28.62 Because it's food that does not perish. 00:00:29.14\00:00:31.56 Now we are going to study today the importance of 00:00:32.08\00:00:36.85 literary structure in the study of the millennium. 00:00:36.88\00:00:40.70 This is just an example of the importance of seeing the 00:00:41.23\00:00:44.40 sequence of events in the book of Revelation. 00:00:44.43\00:00:47.12 And I would say Daniel also needs to be examined 00:00:47.15\00:00:50.95 very carefully in the light of its structure. 00:00:50.98\00:00:53.48 So let's go to our material that was given out. 00:00:54.05\00:00:56.93 And the first thing that we want to do is ask several questions 00:00:57.24\00:01:02.63 about the millennial passage in Revelation chapter 20. 00:01:02.66\00:01:05.99 We have studied that it is important when we're 00:01:07.10\00:01:09.47 studying a passage of Scripture, particularly prophecy, 00:01:09.50\00:01:13.65 to ask the passage questions. 00:01:13.68\00:01:16.05 So let's ask a few questions about the millennial passage. 00:01:16.08\00:01:19.70 First of all, why does the lake of fire appear three times 00:01:19.99\00:01:25.15 in Revelation 20 verse 1 through 21 verse 8? 00:01:25.35\00:01:28.81 Are there three lakes of fire? 00:01:29.16\00:01:31.44 Or is it perhaps true that Revelation 20 verse 1 00:01:32.03\00:01:35.70 through 21 verse 8 runs in cycles, repetitive cycles? 00:01:35.73\00:01:41.36 We're going to take a look at that. 00:01:41.39\00:01:42.89 The next question, why does the city appear to be on earth 00:01:43.47\00:01:47.85 in one passage when the wicked surround it, 00:01:47.88\00:01:51.09 and in another passage the wicked seem to be destroyed 00:01:51.37\00:01:55.02 before the city descends? 00:01:55.05\00:01:57.37 Another question, in Revelation 20 verse 12 00:01:58.19\00:02:02.19 we are told that the dead stand before God. 00:02:02.43\00:02:05.48 The question is, how can dead people 00:02:06.05\00:02:08.37 stand in the presence of God? 00:02:08.40\00:02:10.38 And the final question we want to ask, 00:02:11.12\00:02:13.08 and as we go along we're going to ask more questions, 00:02:13.11\00:02:15.38 by the way, why do we get the impression 00:02:15.41\00:02:18.91 from Revelation 20 verse 5 that the wicked will 00:02:18.94\00:02:22.42 resurrect in the first resurrection? 00:02:22.45\00:02:24.53 You know, when you read that verse, it gives the impression 00:02:24.83\00:02:27.96 that the wicked are going to resurrect 00:02:27.99\00:02:29.42 in the first resurrection. 00:02:29.45\00:02:30.88 But there's another previous verse that says that the 00:02:30.91\00:02:33.75 righteous will resurrect in the first resurrection. 00:02:33.78\00:02:36.02 So how do we resolve that particular problem? 00:02:36.05\00:02:39.71 Well first of all, let's make some introductory remarks. 00:02:40.65\00:02:44.96 And we will do it by asking another series of questions. 00:02:44.99\00:02:48.74 Will the millennium be spent in heaven 00:02:49.12\00:02:51.89 or will it be spent on earth? 00:02:51.92\00:02:54.42 What will be the condition of the earth during the millennium? 00:02:54.87\00:02:58.77 What will God's people be doing during the millennial period? 00:02:59.23\00:03:04.70 Why is there a white throne judgment after the millennium? 00:03:05.03\00:03:09.01 What does Revelation mean when it speaks about 00:03:09.62\00:03:13.05 the second death? 00:03:13.08\00:03:14.66 What is meant by the binding and unbinding of Satan? 00:03:15.01\00:03:19.50 And finally, is it even important to know 00:03:19.73\00:03:23.40 what will happen during this time? 00:03:23.43\00:03:25.74 Those are the main questions that we are going to try 00:03:26.51\00:03:29.73 and answer as we study about the millennium. 00:03:29.76\00:03:33.80 Now in the handout that you've received, there's some blanks 00:03:33.83\00:03:37.12 that you have to fill in. 00:03:37.15\00:03:38.39 And so this is done kind of like in question and answer form. 00:03:38.59\00:03:43.49 So you're going to help me this morning in our study. 00:03:43.59\00:03:48.29 Now Revelation 19 verses 11 to 21 00:03:48.71\00:03:53.06 describes the second coming of Jesus. 00:03:53.09\00:03:55.66 You've read that passage, right? 00:03:55.69\00:03:57.15 Jesus is sitting on a white horse, 00:03:57.18\00:03:59.15 the armies of heaven are coming with Jesus. 00:03:59.18\00:04:01.60 He comes to trample the winepress, you know, 00:04:01.63\00:04:04.25 and to destroy the dragon, the beast, 00:04:04.28\00:04:07.73 and also the kings of the earth. 00:04:07.76\00:04:09.97 So it's describing the second coming. 00:04:10.00\00:04:11.92 Now, by this time the plagues will have decimated 00:04:12.30\00:04:16.70 the population of the planet. 00:04:16.73\00:04:19.10 In other words, the plagues will destroy most of the 00:04:19.39\00:04:21.95 inhabitants of the earth. 00:04:21.98\00:04:23.43 So the question is, what happens at the very culmination 00:04:23.68\00:04:29.11 of the second coming of Jesus? 00:04:29.14\00:04:31.06 And we have the answer in Revelation 19 verse 21. 00:04:31.37\00:04:34.52 It says, "And the rest..." 00:04:34.74\00:04:36.58 That is, those who survive the plagues. 00:04:36.61\00:04:38.97 The rest were what? 00:04:39.00\00:04:40.56 "...were killed with the sword which proceeded from 00:04:40.91\00:04:44.35 the mouth of Him who sat on the throne." 00:04:44.38\00:04:47.07 So the question is, how many of the wicked 00:04:47.44\00:04:50.68 will be destroyed by the plagues and by the 00:04:50.71\00:04:53.10 second coming of Christ? 00:04:53.13\00:04:54.73 Every single one. 00:04:55.00\00:04:57.10 When Jesus comes on the clouds, the rest will be slain. 00:04:57.38\00:05:01.07 Many will be slain by the seven last plagues. 00:05:01.17\00:05:05.36 Now, let's read the note. 00:05:05.78\00:05:07.73 The millennium is described in Revelation 20 verse 1 00:05:08.17\00:05:12.03 through Revelation 21 and verse 8. 00:05:12.33\00:05:14.65 That's the millennial passage. 00:05:14.68\00:05:16.35 And actually, we're going to notice that chapter 21 00:05:17.00\00:05:22.33 and verses 2 through 8 really should be included 00:05:22.36\00:05:25.54 with the millennial passage even though it's in chapter 21 00:05:25.57\00:05:28.74 and not in chapter 20. 00:05:28.77\00:05:30.27 Now the events in these chapters are not in strict 00:05:30.54\00:05:33.99 chronological order, but they run in cycles. 00:05:34.02\00:05:38.40 In other words, we know this because the identical climax 00:05:39.76\00:05:43.05 is reached four times. 00:05:43.08\00:05:45.00 Though the events are repeated four times, 00:05:45.69\00:05:48.48 each repetition has a different center of focus or emphasis. 00:05:48.72\00:05:53.97 Are you understanding this point? 00:05:55.26\00:05:56.94 In other words, Revelation 20 verse 1 through 21 verse 8 00:05:57.89\00:06:01.71 repeats the same material four times. 00:06:02.15\00:06:05.74 You can't read it in linear fashion. 00:06:06.77\00:06:09.08 You can't say, "Okay, I want to know what happens 00:06:09.18\00:06:11.25 before, during, and after the millennium. 00:06:11.28\00:06:13.06 So I'm going to start in Revelation 20 verse 1, 00:06:13.09\00:06:15.60 and it's going to give me the strict chronological sequence 00:06:15.63\00:06:18.27 through chapter 21 and verse 8." 00:06:18.30\00:06:19.95 It won't work because it goes back and forth. 00:06:19.98\00:06:22.44 You have four repetitive cycles. 00:06:23.12\00:06:25.47 Kind of like Daniel 2, Daniel 7, Daniel 8 and 9, 00:06:25.50\00:06:29.67 and Daniel 10 through 12. 00:06:29.70\00:06:31.42 In other words, you repeat the same material four times, 00:06:31.71\00:06:34.55 but each time it has a different emphasis. 00:06:34.58\00:06:37.27 Now the question is, what are the four repetitive cycles? 00:06:37.88\00:06:41.79 You have them summarized at the bottom of page 1. 00:06:42.05\00:06:44.88 Revelation 20 verses 1 through 3 describes the events 00:06:45.46\00:06:50.15 before, during, and after the millennium. 00:06:50.18\00:06:52.76 And the center of focus is Satan and the condition of the earth. 00:06:53.44\00:06:58.46 That is the central focus of those verses, 00:06:59.23\00:07:01.97 chapter 20 and verses 1 to 3. 00:07:02.00\00:07:03.87 The emphasis, once again, is Satan and what 00:07:04.92\00:07:07.68 the condition of the earth will be. 00:07:07.71\00:07:09.74 The second cycle in Revelation chapter 20 00:07:10.29\00:07:15.19 is found in verses 4 through 10. 00:07:15.22\00:07:19.00 And the central focus in Revelation 20 verse 4 through 10 00:07:19.56\00:07:23.60 is upon the saints, upon God's people. 00:07:23.90\00:07:27.17 What happens with God's people before, during, 00:07:27.37\00:07:30.03 and after the millennium. 00:07:30.33\00:07:31.94 So you have the first cycle. 00:07:32.33\00:07:34.16 The emphasis is upon Satan and the condition of the earth. 00:07:34.19\00:07:37.34 The second cycle is upon what happens with God's people 00:07:37.61\00:07:42.63 before, during, and after the millennium. 00:07:43.17\00:07:46.07 The third cycle is found in Revelation 20 verse 11 00:07:46.75\00:07:50.79 through chapter 21 and verse 1. 00:07:50.82\00:07:53.80 And the center of focus there is upon the wicked. 00:07:54.13\00:07:58.94 In other words, the central focus is what happens 00:07:59.04\00:08:01.35 with the wicked before, during, and after the millennium. 00:08:01.38\00:08:05.48 And then finally, the fourth cycle in the millennium passage 00:08:05.94\00:08:10.78 is found in Revelation 21 and verses 2 through 8 00:08:10.81\00:08:16.10 where the central focus is what life will be like 00:08:16.13\00:08:20.61 in the holy city and what will happen to the wicked finally. 00:08:20.64\00:08:24.93 So there are four centers of focus 00:08:25.03\00:08:28.02 in this millennial passage. 00:08:28.05\00:08:29.54 And unless you understand the structure, 00:08:29.58\00:08:33.19 you're going to misplace events. 00:08:33.49\00:08:35.96 And so the first cycle, the emphasis is Satan and the earth. 00:08:36.17\00:08:40.14 The second center is the saints. 00:08:40.17\00:08:43.06 The third center of focus is the wicked. 00:08:43.09\00:08:45.76 And the last center of focus is upon the holy city. 00:08:45.79\00:08:49.98 So let's go to our first cycle on page 2 and notice 00:08:50.39\00:08:55.20 how Revelation 20:1-3 emphasizes the condition of the earth, 00:08:55.23\00:09:01.52 and what will happen with Satan specifically. 00:09:01.55\00:09:04.93 We have several blank spaces, so you're going to help me 00:09:05.78\00:09:08.52 answer this. 00:09:08.55\00:09:09.91 The angel who comes down from heaven has the key 00:09:09.94\00:09:12.96 to the bottomless pit. 00:09:12.99\00:09:16.19 Now this is not the best translation, "bottomless pit." 00:09:16.72\00:09:20.45 It actually translates one Greek word, 00:09:20.48\00:09:23.26 it's the Greek word, "abussos." 00:09:23.55\00:09:26.22 And the word that we get in English from, "abussos," 00:09:26.25\00:09:29.36 is, the abyss. 00:09:29.39\00:09:31.44 It's translated in Genesis, the equivalent Hebrew word 00:09:31.94\00:09:35.93 in Genesis is translated, the deep. 00:09:35.96\00:09:38.40 So in other words, it says here that an angel comes down 00:09:39.01\00:09:43.30 from heaven and he has the key to the bottomless bit. 00:09:43.33\00:09:47.08 Now what is meant by this expression, "bottomless pit," 00:09:47.49\00:09:50.89 or by the abyss, or by the deep? 00:09:50.92\00:09:53.53 Well, we have to go back to Genesis. 00:09:54.05\00:09:56.55 In Genesis 1 and verse 2, we are told that the earth 00:09:57.08\00:10:01.77 was in what condition before God began creation week? 00:10:01.87\00:10:06.14 "The earth was without form, and void; 00:10:06.17\00:10:11.58 and darkness was on the face of the deep." 00:10:11.61\00:10:15.33 So the earth was without form and void, 00:10:16.32\00:10:18.92 and there was darkness over the face of the deep. 00:10:19.13\00:10:22.95 Now let's read the note, because the note 00:10:23.68\00:10:25.82 is very significant. 00:10:25.85\00:10:27.30 The word, "deep," in the Greek Old Testament... 00:10:27.61\00:10:31.89 Which is called the Septuagint. 00:10:31.92\00:10:33.55 You've heard of the Septuagint, right? 00:10:33.58\00:10:35.28 It's a Greek translation of the Hebrew Old Testament. 00:10:36.08\00:10:39.20 The word, "deep," in the Greek Old Testament 00:10:39.43\00:10:41.65 is the same as the one that is found in Revelation 20 verse 1. 00:10:41.68\00:10:45.93 Is that significant? 00:10:46.74\00:10:48.08 So in other words, in Genesis 1 verse 2, 00:10:48.60\00:10:51.59 it's the word, "abussos." 00:10:51.62\00:10:53.32 So what does the word, "abussos," describe? 00:10:54.25\00:10:56.98 It describes the earth being empty and in disorder, right? 00:10:57.21\00:11:03.56 As it says, "without form and void." 00:11:03.59\00:11:07.45 Now what does, "without form and void," mean? 00:11:07.48\00:11:10.08 I like the Spanish translation better. 00:11:10.11\00:11:12.42 It says, "Desordenada y vacía." 00:11:12.52\00:11:15.07 Disorderly and empty. 00:11:16.17\00:11:18.00 Void means empty. 00:11:18.03\00:11:19.18 And so the earth was empty and it was in disorder. 00:11:19.21\00:11:25.01 So what condition will the earth be in when this angel 00:11:25.63\00:11:29.16 descends from heaven? 00:11:29.19\00:11:30.59 It will be just like it was in Genesis before creation week. 00:11:31.02\00:11:34.83 Now let's continue reading this note. 00:11:35.04\00:11:36.99 This word describes a planet in a chaotic pre-creative state. 00:11:37.64\00:11:43.58 It is noteworthy that the plagues of Revelation 16 00:11:43.96\00:11:48.18 actually reverse creation and return the earth, 00:11:48.21\00:11:52.29 in some degree, to pre-creation chaos. 00:11:52.39\00:11:56.27 The very things which God made during creation 00:11:56.54\00:12:00.31 are afflicted by the plagues. 00:12:00.34\00:12:02.45 The earth is broken up, 00:12:02.69\00:12:04.35 the sun, moon, and stars are moved out of their places, 00:12:04.38\00:12:07.42 all the vegetation is destroyed by the intense heat of the sun, 00:12:07.45\00:12:11.05 the seas are filled with blood, all the fish die, 00:12:11.15\00:12:14.16 and the planet returns to darkness 00:12:14.19\00:12:16.29 and all human beings die. 00:12:16.32\00:12:17.96 Does that sound like a reversal of creation? 00:12:17.99\00:12:20.69 Absolutely. 00:12:20.72\00:12:21.77 The plagues reverse creation. 00:12:21.80\00:12:23.59 So my question is, how can futurists say that this earth 00:12:23.62\00:12:28.71 is going to be a place where God's people are going to live 00:12:28.92\00:12:31.83 with Jesus sitting in Jerusalem for a thousand years. 00:12:31.86\00:12:35.28 Be real. 00:12:35.57\00:12:36.60 There's no way they could survive. 00:12:36.63\00:12:38.44 Because the plagues return the earth to the condition it was in 00:12:38.98\00:12:43.67 before creation; without form and void, 00:12:43.70\00:12:47.00 disorderly and empty. 00:12:47.03\00:12:49.34 That will be the condition of the earth. 00:12:49.37\00:12:50.86 And so when the angel descends there to the bottomless pit, 00:12:50.89\00:12:54.67 or to the abyss, or to the deep, he's returning to an earth 00:12:54.70\00:12:58.45 that is without form and void, like it 00:12:58.48\00:13:01.84 was before creation week. 00:13:01.87\00:13:04.02 So now we know what the condition of the earth 00:13:04.05\00:13:05.79 is going to be like just by reading the word, "abyss," 00:13:05.82\00:13:08.66 and comparing with Genesis 1 verse 2. 00:13:08.76\00:13:11.52 Now let's go to our next section. 00:13:12.53\00:13:14.17 The prophet Jeremiah was permitted to see the earth 00:13:14.20\00:13:18.37 during the millennium. 00:13:18.40\00:13:19.66 He heard the sound of the what? 00:13:20.43\00:13:22.57 Of the trumpet. 00:13:23.33\00:13:24.55 Is there something in the New Testament 00:13:25.04\00:13:27.20 about a trumpet announcing an important event? 00:13:27.23\00:13:30.63 When Jesus returns, He returns with the sound of the what? 00:13:31.99\00:13:35.57 Of the trumpet. 00:13:36.14\00:13:37.32 And notice, the alarm of what? 00:13:37.42\00:13:39.88 War. 00:13:40.28\00:13:41.31 Is there any passage in Revelation that speaks about 00:13:41.34\00:13:43.83 the coming of Jesus being a war? 00:13:43.86\00:13:45.85 In righteousness He makes war, 00:13:46.26\00:13:49.04 it says in Revelation chapter 19. 00:13:49.07\00:13:50.98 So what event is being described here? 00:13:51.19\00:13:53.35 The second coming of Christ. 00:13:53.80\00:13:55.61 And then we continue. 00:13:55.94\00:13:57.14 He then beheld the earth. 00:13:57.17\00:13:59.03 After the trumpet and the war, he beheld the earth. 00:13:59.42\00:14:02.80 And indeed, it was what? 00:14:02.83\00:14:04.78 Without form and void. 00:14:05.00\00:14:06.90 Is the earth going to return to the same condition 00:14:06.93\00:14:10.02 it was in before creation when the trumpet sounds 00:14:10.05\00:14:12.56 and when this final war takes place? 00:14:12.59\00:14:14.46 Absolutely. 00:14:14.49\00:14:15.54 And notice; and the heavens, and they had no what? 00:14:16.07\00:14:19.14 Light. Was there any light at the beginning before creation? 00:14:19.42\00:14:22.76 No. 00:14:22.79\00:14:24.01 He also saw that the mountains what? 00:14:24.19\00:14:26.62 Quaked. 00:14:26.69\00:14:27.72 Jeremiah beheld, and indeed, there were lots of men. 00:14:28.18\00:14:31.50 There was no man. Why? 00:14:32.25\00:14:33.97 Because they're all destroyed by the brightness of His coming. 00:14:34.57\00:14:37.46 And it says, and all the birds of the heavens had fled. 00:14:37.95\00:14:41.08 There's no birds. 00:14:41.11\00:14:42.20 The fruitful land had become a what? 00:14:42.55\00:14:45.57 A wilderness. 00:14:45.80\00:14:47.30 And all of the cities were broken down 00:14:47.33\00:14:50.14 at the presence of the Lord by His fierce anger. 00:14:50.17\00:14:53.13 Are you catching a picture of what this world is going to 00:14:54.04\00:14:56.05 be like as a result of the plagues and the coming of Jesus? 00:14:56.08\00:15:00.37 It is going to return to the condition it was in 00:15:00.80\00:15:04.28 before creation week? 00:15:04.60\00:15:06.34 Whether the earth was here for millions of years 00:15:06.53\00:15:08.70 without any life on it, or whether Jesus 00:15:08.73\00:15:11.41 made the earth and then immediately began creation week, 00:15:11.44\00:15:14.27 you know, that's not the point that we want to cover right now. 00:15:14.30\00:15:17.38 And as far as I'm concerned, it's irrelevant. 00:15:17.41\00:15:20.18 Because the important thing is, how long ago 00:15:20.40\00:15:22.94 did creation week take place? 00:15:22.97\00:15:25.27 That's the key. 00:15:25.30\00:15:26.33 How long ago did creation week take place? 00:15:26.36\00:15:29.15 And we know that it was about six thousand years ago 00:15:29.18\00:15:32.14 that the week of creation took place. 00:15:32.24\00:15:34.71 So the earth will return to the condition it was in 00:15:35.59\00:15:38.97 before creation week. 00:15:39.18\00:15:41.21 Now let's read the note. 00:15:42.02\00:15:43.63 In spite of the incredible desolation caused by the 00:15:44.00\00:15:47.19 wrath of God, we are told that at this time 00:15:47.22\00:15:51.16 God would not make a full end. 00:15:51.19\00:15:54.89 Why does it say that God would not make a full end? 00:15:54.99\00:15:57.54 Is this the end when the world returns to the condition 00:15:58.12\00:16:01.25 it was in before creation? 00:16:01.28\00:16:02.84 Is this the end of all things? 00:16:03.06\00:16:04.36 Is this the last word? 00:16:04.39\00:16:05.84 No, there are events that are going to take place 00:16:05.87\00:16:08.82 after the thousand years, right? 00:16:08.92\00:16:10.86 So very interesting that Jeremiah would say 00:16:11.16\00:16:14.46 there in chapter 4 and verse 27 that even though the earth 00:16:14.49\00:16:18.25 is without form and void, this is not the full end. 00:16:18.28\00:16:21.71 Now let's go to our next section. 00:16:22.13\00:16:23.83 In Jeremiah 25:30-38, we have a powerful description 00:16:23.86\00:16:29.60 of the coming of Jesus. 00:16:29.63\00:16:31.07 We are told that the Lord will roar from on high 00:16:31.34\00:16:36.54 and utter His voice from His holy habitation. 00:16:36.72\00:16:41.61 And by the way, He does utter His voice 00:16:41.64\00:16:43.88 in Revelation 16 verse 17 at the moment of the seventh plague. 00:16:44.18\00:16:48.02 And in other places in Revelation as well. 00:16:48.05\00:16:50.16 So we are told that He will roar from on high 00:16:50.41\00:16:52.86 and utter His voice from His holy habitation. 00:16:52.89\00:16:55.52 He will give a what? 00:16:55.55\00:16:57.11 A shout. 00:16:57.30\00:16:58.82 Can you think of another passage that speaks about a shout? 00:16:59.67\00:17:02.68 "For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven 00:17:03.50\00:17:05.97 with a shout, with the voice of the archangel..." 00:17:06.00\00:17:10.02 And the what? "...and the trumpet of God." 00:17:10.05\00:17:12.31 See, Jeremiah and Isaiah saw this day. 00:17:12.34\00:17:15.14 Now let's continue here. 00:17:15.45\00:17:16.77 He will give a shout as those who tread the what? 00:17:18.15\00:17:22.44 The grapes. 00:17:22.88\00:17:23.91 Do we find anywhere in the New Testament that speaks about 00:17:23.94\00:17:26.90 Jesus coming to tread the grapes? 00:17:26.93\00:17:28.74 Revelation 19. 00:17:28.89\00:17:30.27 When He comes on the white horse and the armies of heaven come. 00:17:30.65\00:17:33.92 It says He comes to tread the winepress. 00:17:33.95\00:17:36.41 And the winepress is where the grapes are. 00:17:36.44\00:17:38.79 So this is the second coming of Jesus Christ. 00:17:39.03\00:17:41.90 Now what's going to happen on that day? 00:17:42.10\00:17:44.24 Notice, on that day, the what? 00:17:44.46\00:17:46.50 The slain of the Lord will be from one end of the earth 00:17:46.53\00:17:51.32 even to the other. 00:17:51.35\00:17:52.64 They shall be buried... 00:17:52.67\00:17:54.82 Very good, very good. You're still with me. 00:17:56.13\00:17:58.45 They shall not be buried or gathered or lamented. 00:17:58.55\00:18:05.69 Why will they not be lamented? 00:18:05.94\00:18:07.42 Because there is no one to lament them. 00:18:08.40\00:18:10.65 Hello. 00:18:10.68\00:18:11.82 Because they're all dead. 00:18:12.47\00:18:13.82 All of the wicked are destroyed when Jesus comes, 00:18:14.41\00:18:17.87 in other words. 00:18:17.90\00:18:19.14 Now Isaiah also saw this. 00:18:19.52\00:18:21.84 Notice what we find in Isaiah 24 and some verses of 1 through 6. 00:18:22.39\00:18:29.62 It says, Isaiah adds that when Jesus comes, 00:18:29.65\00:18:32.76 He will make the earth what? 00:18:32.79\00:18:34.63 Empty, and make it waste. 00:18:35.11\00:18:37.75 Does that sound like without form and void? 00:18:37.78\00:18:40.56 Absolutely. 00:18:40.77\00:18:41.84 The land will be utterly emptied and utterly plundered. 00:18:42.01\00:18:48.09 The inhabitants of the earth are burned and few men are left. 00:18:48.32\00:18:53.34 Now didn't we just read that all men are destroyed? 00:18:54.34\00:18:56.67 So how can it say a few men are left? 00:18:56.70\00:18:59.22 Well the fact is, the left ones are the righteous that survive. 00:18:59.97\00:19:04.61 It's the only way that you can really interpret this verse, 00:19:05.43\00:19:07.76 because we know there will be no one alive 00:19:07.79\00:19:10.08 after the second coming of Christ on planet earth. 00:19:10.28\00:19:12.90 So this must be the remnant. 00:19:13.55\00:19:15.48 And the word, "left," I repeat once again, 00:19:15.69\00:19:17.87 is a remnant word. 00:19:17.90\00:19:19.70 So when it says that one will be taken 00:19:20.24\00:19:22.04 and the other one will be left, if we allow the Bible to 00:19:22.07\00:19:25.41 interpret itself, the one who is left is the 00:19:25.44\00:19:28.05 one who is left alive. 00:19:28.08\00:19:29.63 It's the remnant that remains when Jesus comes. 00:19:29.96\00:19:33.57 Now let's continue. 00:19:33.96\00:19:35.54 The powerful angel from heaven binds Satan 00:19:36.36\00:19:40.40 and casts him into the abyss. 00:19:40.84\00:19:43.63 What is the abyss again? 00:19:43.84\00:19:45.29 The earth without form and void, folks. 00:19:46.08\00:19:49.14 He casts him into the abyss for 1000 years. 00:19:49.69\00:19:53.07 The result of His binding is that he can deceive the nations 00:19:53.29\00:19:58.23 no more until the thousand years are what? 00:19:58.26\00:20:01.32 Until the thousand years are ended. 00:20:01.42\00:20:03.49 So at the beginning of the thousand years, 00:20:03.93\00:20:06.01 what happens with Satan? 00:20:06.04\00:20:07.54 He is bound. 00:20:07.64\00:20:08.70 At the end of the thousand years, what happens with Satan? 00:20:08.86\00:20:12.09 He is able to deceive again. 00:20:12.68\00:20:14.67 He is unbound. 00:20:14.70\00:20:17.05 Now let's read the note. 00:20:17.15\00:20:18.54 Satan is bound to an earth which has returned 00:20:18.95\00:20:22.58 to pre-creation chaos. 00:20:22.61\00:20:24.74 How could human beings live on planet earth 00:20:25.12\00:20:28.18 when the seas and the fresh waters are all blood, 00:20:28.21\00:20:31.36 the air has the stench of the dead, 00:20:31.39\00:20:33.62 the planet is in total darkness, 00:20:33.82\00:20:35.83 and there is no plant or animal life. 00:20:35.86\00:20:38.13 The binding of Satan means that he cannot deceive the nations, 00:20:38.63\00:20:42.92 because there are no nations left to deceive. 00:20:42.95\00:20:45.95 That is the binding of Satan. 00:20:46.86\00:20:48.64 He cannot deceive the nations. 00:20:49.28\00:20:50.87 If there are no nations, how is he going to deceive the nations? 00:20:50.90\00:20:54.11 In other words, his binding has to do with the fact 00:20:54.67\00:20:57.33 that the wicked are dead. 00:20:57.36\00:20:58.74 So what would his unbinding be? 00:20:59.64\00:21:01.59 That the wicked live again. 00:21:02.51\00:21:04.15 And we're going to see that Revelation 20 says that. 00:21:04.55\00:21:06.83 Now, but after the millennium, Satan will be loosed 00:21:07.09\00:21:11.54 for a little while. 00:21:11.74\00:21:13.06 The punishment of Satan reminds us of the fate of the scapegoat 00:21:13.59\00:21:17.76 on the Day of Atonement. 00:21:17.79\00:21:19.14 He was bound by the high priest and then taken to the wilderness 00:21:19.34\00:21:23.74 where there were no inhabitants. 00:21:23.77\00:21:26.89 Are you catching the connection between Revelation 20 00:21:27.94\00:21:30.23 and Leviticus 16? 00:21:30.26\00:21:31.66 Very clear. 00:21:32.08\00:21:33.16 You see, the devil's punishment has two stages. 00:21:33.36\00:21:35.89 The first stage of the punishment... 00:21:35.92\00:21:37.87 We studied Isaiah 24, remember? 00:21:37.90\00:21:39.73 The first stage is that they are bound, imprisoned. 00:21:39.83\00:21:43.93 The second stage is after the thousand years 00:21:44.14\00:21:47.04 when they are destroyed. 00:21:47.07\00:21:48.60 So what is the emphasis of verses 1 through 3? 00:21:48.81\00:21:51.73 What is the central focus? 00:21:51.76\00:21:53.38 The earth and Satan. 00:21:54.04\00:21:56.16 Right? 00:21:56.72\00:21:57.75 Now, we are left with some questions after 00:21:58.31\00:22:01.91 this first outline, this first cycle, in verses 1 to 3. 00:22:01.94\00:22:05.94 These are the questions that I found and I wanted to answer 00:22:05.97\00:22:09.05 after reading this first cycle. 00:22:09.08\00:22:11.33 What happened with the righteous during this period? 00:22:12.53\00:22:15.07 Do we have anything in this outline about what happened 00:22:15.75\00:22:18.16 to the righteous? 00:22:18.19\00:22:19.48 No. 00:22:19.51\00:22:20.66 Were they on earth or in heaven? 00:22:21.33\00:22:23.60 Anything that tells us where they were? 00:22:23.63\00:22:25.62 No. 00:22:26.06\00:22:27.09 What did the righteous do during the thousand years? 00:22:27.19\00:22:30.06 Anything on that? 00:22:30.89\00:22:32.19 No. 00:22:32.61\00:22:33.64 What do, "bind," and, "unbind," mean? 00:22:33.75\00:22:36.21 Not directly it doesn't say. 00:22:37.16\00:22:39.07 We need more information. 00:22:39.54\00:22:41.70 What happened to the wicked persons who were destroyed 00:22:42.32\00:22:45.32 at the second coming? 00:22:45.35\00:22:46.66 What did Satan deceive the nations to do 00:22:48.75\00:22:51.37 after the thousand years? 00:22:51.40\00:22:53.04 It says he went out to deceive the nations, 00:22:53.49\00:22:54.95 but deceive them to do what? 00:22:54.98\00:22:56.50 It doesn't say. 00:22:57.28\00:22:58.31 What happened to Satan after he was released for a little while? 00:22:58.91\00:23:02.18 He was released and he was released forever? 00:23:02.21\00:23:05.03 How long was he released? 00:23:06.02\00:23:07.53 We don't have that information. 00:23:08.06\00:23:09.73 So are we left with questions after the first outline? 00:23:09.76\00:23:12.93 All we know is a lot about what is going to happen with the 00:23:13.26\00:23:16.42 devil at the beginning, during, and after the millennium. 00:23:16.45\00:23:18.69 And we know what the condition of the earth is when Jesus 00:23:18.72\00:23:21.94 comes, and during the millennium. 00:23:21.97\00:23:23.53 But we're left with a series of questions. 00:23:23.64\00:23:26.54 And so now we have a second cycle. 00:23:27.14\00:23:29.13 Revelation chapter 20 and verses 4 through 10. 00:23:29.79\00:23:32.62 The same millennial events are going to be repeated again. 00:23:33.94\00:23:36.85 We're going to start at the beginning 00:23:38.31\00:23:39.62 of the millennium again. 00:23:39.65\00:23:40.97 We're going to talk about the millennium again. 00:23:41.48\00:23:43.68 And we're going to talk about events at the 00:23:43.95\00:23:45.60 end of the millennium again. 00:23:45.63\00:23:47.01 But the center of focus now is not primarily on Satan 00:23:47.04\00:23:51.00 and the condition of the earth. 00:23:51.03\00:23:52.30 The focus now is upon what happens with the saints 00:23:52.33\00:23:55.90 at the beginning, during, and at the end of the millennium. 00:23:55.93\00:23:58.35 Are you following me? 00:23:58.99\00:24:00.02 Now, let's pursue this. 00:24:00.45\00:24:02.56 When Revelation 20:1-3 ends, we are left with several questions. 00:24:03.09\00:24:09.15 What happened to the righteous as the millennium began? 00:24:09.18\00:24:11.82 What do the words, "bind," and, "unbind," mean? 00:24:12.37\00:24:14.27 What happened to the wicked persons who were destroyed 00:24:14.30\00:24:16.43 at the second coming? 00:24:16.46\00:24:17.52 Do they remain destroyed forever? 00:24:17.55\00:24:19.34 What did Satan deceive the nations to do 00:24:19.64\00:24:21.63 after the thousand years? 00:24:21.66\00:24:22.98 What happened to Satan after he was released for a little while? 00:24:23.01\00:24:26.10 These questions will be answered in this second cycle. 00:24:26.84\00:24:31.12 Now let's answer the questions. 00:24:32.09\00:24:35.06 At the beginning of the thousand years, 00:24:35.38\00:24:37.65 the righteous dead are what? 00:24:38.05\00:24:40.18 Raised to life. 00:24:40.77\00:24:42.36 We know this because Revelation 20 verse 4 00:24:43.02\00:24:45.86 says that they what? 00:24:45.89\00:24:47.56 That they lived. 00:24:47.86\00:24:49.25 And were they dead? 00:24:49.59\00:24:50.98 Of course. 00:24:51.46\00:24:52.49 Because John says, "I saw those that had been beheaded 00:24:52.85\00:24:56.84 because they didn't worship the beast and his image." 00:24:57.42\00:24:59.64 I would assume that if they were beheaded, they died. 00:24:59.67\00:25:02.52 And so it says that those who had been beheaded lived. 00:25:05.28\00:25:08.35 So it must be that they what? 00:25:09.14\00:25:11.21 That they resurrect. 00:25:11.48\00:25:13.11 And so Revelation 20 verse 4 says that they lived. 00:25:13.47\00:25:17.16 And what did they do? 00:25:17.48\00:25:18.77 They reigned with Christ for a thousand years. 00:25:19.70\00:25:22.81 On earth, right? 00:25:23.03\00:25:24.47 Be real. 00:25:26.92\00:25:28.12 How could they enjoy living on earth for a thousand years 00:25:28.82\00:25:33.19 the way the earth is? 00:25:33.78\00:25:35.17 This resurrection is called the what? 00:25:36.63\00:25:39.89 The first resurrection. 00:25:40.23\00:25:42.23 And the righteous and holy are resurrected 00:25:42.26\00:25:45.37 in the first resurrection. 00:25:45.40\00:25:46.85 It says in verse 6 that righteous and holy people 00:25:47.07\00:25:50.10 will resurrect in the first resurrection. 00:25:50.13\00:25:52.40 Now, the apostle Paul explained that the dead in Christ 00:25:53.30\00:25:58.11 would rise what? 00:25:58.37\00:25:59.85 Interesting, the dead in Christ would rise first. 00:26:00.06\00:26:03.78 That's the first resurrection, right? 00:26:05.10\00:26:06.90 Then those who are alive and remain will be what? 00:26:07.48\00:26:11.04 Caught up. 00:26:11.22\00:26:12.86 Does that give us an inkling of where the righteous 00:26:15.44\00:26:18.46 are going to be? 00:26:18.49\00:26:19.60 See, Jesus doesn't come down. 00:26:20.88\00:26:23.18 The righteous go up. 00:26:23.77\00:26:25.27 And you have other text in Scripture that indicate this. 00:26:26.44\00:26:29.49 For example, Matthew chapter 24. 00:26:29.52\00:26:31.33 It says, "He shall send His angels, and they shall 00:26:31.36\00:26:33.81 gather His elect from the four winds." 00:26:33.84\00:26:36.23 See, Jesus doesn't come to be here with the elect. 00:26:36.96\00:26:39.35 The elect are gathered by the angels to be taken to Jesus 00:26:39.38\00:26:42.17 in the clouds. 00:26:42.20\00:26:43.30 And what are the clouds? Angels. 00:26:43.33\00:26:46.23 So Matthew 24:30-31 is connected with this. 00:26:46.40\00:26:50.67 The apostle Paul says in 2 Thessalonians chapter 2, 00:26:51.25\00:26:54.07 he speaks about our gathering to Jesus. 00:26:54.10\00:26:57.07 Jesus said, "I'm going to take you to my Father's house." 00:26:57.63\00:27:00.81 Clearly Scripture teaches that Jesus is not 00:27:01.52\00:27:05.15 coming to set up His kingdom here. 00:27:05.18\00:27:07.69 God's people are caught up to meet Jesus in the air. 00:27:07.72\00:27:11.17 So let's finish this here. 00:27:11.76\00:27:13.52 The apostle Paul explained that the dead in Christ 00:27:13.55\00:27:16.40 would rise first. 00:27:16.43\00:27:17.52 Then those who are alive and remain shall be caught up 00:27:17.71\00:27:20.33 together with them in the clouds. 00:27:20.36\00:27:22.93 What are the clouds? 00:27:22.96\00:27:24.25 The clouds are the angels. 00:27:24.61\00:27:26.29 To meet the Lord where? 00:27:26.32\00:27:27.99 In the air. 00:27:28.15\00:27:29.32 Jesus does not come all the way down to the earth. 00:27:29.35\00:27:31.82 Jesus promised to take His people to His Father's house. 00:27:33.11\00:27:38.89 The Father's house is where? 00:27:39.73\00:27:41.72 In heaven. 00:27:41.87\00:27:42.92 Because Jesus taught us to pray, 00:27:42.95\00:27:44.66 "Our Father, which art in heaven." 00:27:44.69\00:27:47.42 And by the way, God the Father is not going to come 00:27:48.49\00:27:52.08 at the second coming. 00:27:52.11\00:27:53.48 You know, there's this another one of those myths 00:27:54.50\00:27:58.07 that we develop, you know, that because it says that 00:27:58.32\00:28:00.80 Jesus is going to come in the glory of His Father. 00:28:00.83\00:28:03.38 But Jesus was on earth and His Father was in heaven, 00:28:04.25\00:28:06.52 and Jesus still had the glory of the Father. 00:28:06.55\00:28:09.05 So the expression, "in the glory of His Father," 00:28:10.08\00:28:12.06 doesn't mean that the Father is coming. 00:28:12.09\00:28:13.93 It means that He has the glory of His Father. 00:28:13.96\00:28:16.23 The glory of the Father is in the face of Jesus 00:28:16.48\00:28:19.04 all the time. 00:28:19.50\00:28:20.65 Are you following me or not? 00:28:21.40\00:28:22.70 It says in Acts chapter 3 that He shall send forth Jesus. 00:28:23.36\00:28:27.22 He's going to send Jesus to get the people of God. 00:28:28.24\00:28:31.36 And then the people will ascend to heaven with Jesus, 00:28:31.62\00:28:34.22 and the Father and the cherubim and the seraphim 00:28:34.25\00:28:37.01 and the representatives of the worlds 00:28:37.19\00:28:39.03 will all be waiting to receive us, just like they were 00:28:39.06\00:28:41.78 waiting to receive Jesus at His ascension. 00:28:41.81\00:28:44.24 So Jesus promised to take His people to His Father's house. 00:28:46.16\00:28:49.38 The Father's house is in heaven, because Jesus taught us 00:28:49.97\00:28:52.19 to pray, "Our Father, which art in heaven." 00:28:52.22\00:28:53.97 A strict reading of Revelation 20 verse 4 through 10 00:28:54.90\00:28:58.50 does not reveal that the saints will be in heaven 00:28:59.08\00:29:01.76 during the thousand years. 00:29:01.79\00:29:04.96 However, we will see that Revelation 21 verse 2 00:29:05.28\00:29:09.81 points out this fact very clearly. 00:29:09.84\00:29:12.22 Because Revelation 21 verse 2 says that the New Jerusalem 00:29:13.21\00:29:16.32 descends from heaven and it is the camp of the saints. 00:29:16.35\00:29:19.87 So if it descends from heaven and it's the camp of the saints, 00:29:20.95\00:29:23.68 the saints must be in it. 00:29:23.71\00:29:25.33 Are you following me or not? 00:29:26.06\00:29:27.44 Now, the saints were given what? 00:29:28.21\00:29:32.10 Thrones. 00:29:32.50\00:29:33.94 And the reigned with Christ for a thousand years. 00:29:34.70\00:29:39.41 Before this, they were the scum of the earth. 00:29:39.44\00:29:42.16 The kings of the earth ruled over them and mistreated them 00:29:43.92\00:29:46.89 and trampled upon them. 00:29:46.92\00:29:48.14 But now they will be royalty. 00:29:48.17\00:29:50.72 They will reign with Jesus, they will sit on His throne. 00:29:51.41\00:29:53.86 Remember Jesus promised that whoever overcomes 00:29:53.89\00:29:56.73 will sit with Him on His throne? 00:29:56.76\00:29:58.71 And so this is the fulfillment. 00:29:59.99\00:30:01.84 The saints will sit, they will reign will Christ 00:30:01.94\00:30:04.56 for a thousand years. 00:30:04.59\00:30:06.13 Something else was done with the saints. 00:30:06.30\00:30:08.57 Something else they're going to do during the thousand years. 00:30:08.60\00:30:10.61 What is it? 00:30:10.64\00:30:11.67 Judgment was committed to them. 00:30:11.86\00:30:15.28 In other words, the saints are going to have 00:30:16.39\00:30:18.95 a working vacation. 00:30:18.98\00:30:20.71 The thousand years will be a celebration in heaven. 00:30:22.43\00:30:24.92 But it will be a working vacation because God 00:30:24.95\00:30:27.02 has a task for them to perform. 00:30:27.05\00:30:29.01 The task to perform is a work of judgment. 00:30:29.04\00:30:33.14 Now let's read the note. 00:30:33.17\00:30:34.43 The question is, who are the righteous going to judge? 00:30:35.46\00:30:38.75 It is obvious that they will not judge the righteous, 00:30:39.74\00:30:42.94 because they will all be in heaven. 00:30:43.47\00:30:45.25 And it cannot be the holy angels because they don't 00:30:46.44\00:30:48.87 need to be judged. 00:30:48.90\00:30:50.43 This must mean that they will judge Satan and his angels, 00:30:51.16\00:30:55.37 and the wicked which were left behind dead on earth. 00:30:55.40\00:30:59.31 That's the only group that they could judge. 00:30:59.96\00:31:01.67 Let me ask you, have all of the righteous been judged 00:31:02.75\00:31:04.93 before the second coming? 00:31:04.96\00:31:06.48 Yeah, in the pre-advent judgment. 00:31:06.84\00:31:08.33 All the righteous have been judged. 00:31:08.36\00:31:09.95 You don't have to judge the loyal angels. 00:31:11.00\00:31:12.77 They don't need any judgment. 00:31:12.80\00:31:13.83 They're loyal to God. 00:31:13.86\00:31:15.14 And the righteous, they're all in heaven. 00:31:16.18\00:31:18.53 They're performing the work of judgment. 00:31:19.12\00:31:20.80 They're not judging themselves. 00:31:20.83\00:31:22.35 So the only groups that are left are the devil and his angels, 00:31:23.31\00:31:26.14 and the wicked. 00:31:26.17\00:31:27.20 Now the apostle Paul had this straight. 00:31:28.34\00:31:31.41 The apostle Paul told the Corinthians... 00:31:32.50\00:31:34.74 Now listen carefully. 00:31:35.11\00:31:36.14 You know, you read Revelation 20 and it says that those who were 00:31:36.78\00:31:42.11 beheaded because they worshiped not the beast, 00:31:42.14\00:31:43.79 his image, nor received the mark, and so on, 00:31:43.82\00:31:46.06 they are going to be the ones that judge. 00:31:46.32\00:31:48.61 But they are not exclusively the only ones that will perform 00:31:49.27\00:31:52.26 this work of judgment. 00:31:52.29\00:31:53.48 It's just that Revelation is emphasizing that those 00:31:54.40\00:31:57.65 who lived in the end time and they were killed for their 00:31:57.75\00:32:00.77 faithfulness to God, they're going to judge. 00:32:00.80\00:32:02.97 In other words, they're going to judge those who judged them. 00:32:03.00\00:32:05.74 But the judgment is going to be performed 00:32:06.83\00:32:08.55 by all of God's people. 00:32:08.58\00:32:10.18 Not only by those who refuse to worship the beast and his image 00:32:10.21\00:32:13.79 and receive the mark. 00:32:13.82\00:32:15.11 You say, "How do we know that?" 00:32:15.60\00:32:16.85 Well, let's notice what Paul said in 1 Corinthians 6:1-3. 00:32:16.88\00:32:20.99 "Do you not know that the saints will judge the world?" 00:32:22.18\00:32:27.28 Who will judge the world? 00:32:30.04\00:32:31.36 The saints will judge the world. 00:32:32.13\00:32:33.92 What does the word, "world," mean? 00:32:33.95\00:32:35.53 "Love not the world, nor the things that are in the world." 00:32:37.51\00:32:41.32 "He that is a friend of the world is an enemy of God." 00:32:42.15\00:32:45.86 So the word, "world," is not referring to the 00:32:45.89\00:32:48.02 geographical territory. 00:32:48.05\00:32:49.45 It is referring to the wicked inhabitants of the world 00:32:49.55\00:32:52.96 whose focus is this world. 00:32:52.99\00:32:54.90 "Do you not know that the saints will judge the world?" 00:32:57.57\00:32:59.99 And then he says, "Do you not know..." 00:33:01.11\00:33:03.41 Now listen carefully. 00:33:03.44\00:33:04.47 "Do you not know that we shall judge angels?" 00:33:04.50\00:33:07.93 Are the Corinthians going to judge angels? 00:33:09.85\00:33:12.23 So are only those who were beheaded by the end time 00:33:13.96\00:33:18.31 enemies of God's people being the only ones 00:33:18.34\00:33:20.52 that are going to judge? 00:33:20.55\00:33:21.70 No, because the apostle Paul says we're going to. 00:33:21.94\00:33:24.09 So this judgment will be performed 00:33:24.98\00:33:26.76 by all of God's saints. 00:33:26.79\00:33:28.29 Not only by those who were beheaded because they were 00:33:28.39\00:33:31.03 faithful to the Lord in the end time. 00:33:31.06\00:33:33.19 Now the question is, who are the angels 00:33:33.22\00:33:35.75 that are going to be judged? 00:33:35.78\00:33:37.08 Just, just, just... 00:33:38.81\00:33:40.51 I mean, all you have to do is use common sense. 00:33:40.85\00:33:44.23 They can't be loyal angels. 00:33:45.76\00:33:47.71 They can't be faithful angels. 00:33:48.13\00:33:49.86 Because the faithful angels need no judgment. 00:33:50.59\00:33:53.08 So they must be what? 00:33:53.65\00:33:55.36 They must be Satan and his angels. 00:33:55.79\00:33:57.96 There's no other explanation. 00:33:58.13\00:33:59.64 So the saints are going to judge the world, the wicked, 00:34:00.00\00:34:04.56 and they are going to judge angels, the wicked angels. 00:34:04.59\00:34:09.99 Now, let's notice what it continues saying. 00:34:10.53\00:34:15.50 The righteous will not be subject to the second death. 00:34:15.53\00:34:20.63 So the righteous don't suffer second death. 00:34:22.36\00:34:24.71 Let's read the next line. 00:34:25.67\00:34:27.38 The rest of the dead will not come to life again 00:34:27.72\00:34:30.75 until the thousand years are ended. 00:34:30.78\00:34:32.66 Now the question is, who are the rest of the dead? 00:34:33.61\00:34:36.20 Who resurrects at the beginning of the millennium, 00:34:38.26\00:34:40.28 according to what we just noticed? 00:34:40.31\00:34:41.90 The righteous. 00:34:42.43\00:34:43.56 Righteous and holy is he who resurrects 00:34:43.80\00:34:46.07 at the beginning of the millennium; 00:34:46.10\00:34:47.54 reigns and judges. 00:34:47.57\00:34:49.04 So just use the grey matter that God gave you, 00:34:49.80\00:34:54.55 and say, "Who then would be those who will resurrect 00:34:55.25\00:35:00.98 after the thousand years, when the thousand years are ended?" 00:35:01.81\00:35:04.73 The wicked. 00:35:05.92\00:35:06.95 Of course. 00:35:07.09\00:35:08.12 It's not conjecture, it's simple reading of the text. 00:35:08.84\00:35:13.46 It is the wicked. 00:35:13.49\00:35:14.61 Now, let's notice the note. 00:35:15.21\00:35:16.67 This is very important. 00:35:16.70\00:35:17.92 All beings in this world experience a first birth 00:35:18.42\00:35:21.85 and a first life, correct? 00:35:21.88\00:35:23.79 When the millennium begins, those who died in Christ 00:35:25.92\00:35:28.77 will resurrect to their second life, 00:35:28.80\00:35:30.62 or to the second stage of life. 00:35:30.72\00:35:32.26 Right? 00:35:32.29\00:35:33.46 And they will not die anymore. 00:35:34.13\00:35:35.70 Correct? 00:35:37.05\00:35:38.14 The wicked, on the other hand, will resurrect to their 00:35:38.94\00:35:41.99 second life after the thousand years, will be judged, 00:35:42.02\00:35:46.39 and then they will suffer what? 00:35:46.42\00:35:48.79 They will suffer second death. 00:35:49.09\00:35:50.76 So you'll notice that the righteous, you know, 00:35:51.64\00:35:54.27 were born from their mothers, they lived. 00:35:54.30\00:35:57.01 If they died before Jesus came, they died their first death. 00:35:57.68\00:36:01.17 Then they resurrected and they live again, 00:36:01.27\00:36:03.73 and they don't die anymore. 00:36:03.76\00:36:05.03 The wicked, on the other hand, they were born 00:36:05.91\00:36:08.09 from their mothers. 00:36:08.12\00:36:09.16 They lived their life. 00:36:09.44\00:36:10.74 They died. 00:36:10.77\00:36:12.03 They resurrect. 00:36:12.06\00:36:13.48 And then they're going to die the second death. 00:36:13.81\00:36:15.86 So who is it that suffers the second death? 00:36:15.89\00:36:17.69 The wicked. 00:36:17.72\00:36:18.75 The righteous suffer only the first death. 00:36:19.60\00:36:21.73 And they go through the first resurrection. 00:36:22.30\00:36:24.12 Now, let's notice the next page. 00:36:24.75\00:36:27.22 There is a punctuation problem in Revelation 20 verse 5. 00:36:28.02\00:36:32.03 The original New Testament manuscripts did not 00:36:32.72\00:36:35.36 have punctuation marks. 00:36:35.39\00:36:36.96 So the translators placed them where they felt they belonged. 00:36:37.17\00:36:40.77 The New King James translators should have placed parentheses 00:36:41.76\00:36:44.89 around the following phrase: 00:36:44.92\00:36:46.64 "But the rest of the dead did not live again 00:36:47.15\00:36:49.53 until the thousand years were finished." 00:36:49.56\00:36:51.64 There should be parentheses there. 00:36:52.95\00:36:54.76 You say, "Well, aren't you adding to Scripture?" 00:36:55.58\00:36:57.58 No. 00:36:57.78\00:36:58.99 Because punctuation marks were not in Scripture. 00:36:59.59\00:37:02.12 Now, in effect, the New International Version 00:37:02.15\00:37:06.75 does this very thing. 00:37:06.95\00:37:08.60 The NIV does put the parentheses there. 00:37:09.10\00:37:11.53 The parenthetical statement breaks the flow of thought 00:37:12.36\00:37:16.41 in order to explain what will happen with the wicked 00:37:16.44\00:37:19.72 which were left behind at the beginning of the thousand years. 00:37:19.75\00:37:22.69 Now let's go there to Revelation 20 00:37:22.72\00:37:24.36 because I want you to see this. 00:37:24.39\00:37:26.34 Revelation chapter 20. 00:37:26.37\00:37:28.25 This is a very important point. 00:37:29.70\00:37:31.48 You know, the much maligned NIV... 00:37:33.25\00:37:35.59 ...has the parentheses; and they belong. 00:37:37.71\00:37:39.40 That's why I say, you need to be eclectic in your way 00:37:39.43\00:37:42.06 of using Bible versions. 00:37:42.09\00:37:43.77 You can't say exclusively, "The King James, and no more," 00:37:44.63\00:37:48.07 and that it's a blasphemy to read the NIV. 00:37:48.10\00:37:50.63 There are things in the NIV that are better 00:37:51.63\00:37:53.68 than the King James translation. 00:37:53.71\00:37:55.34 I'm not saying the manuscripts that were used were better. 00:37:55.82\00:37:58.30 I'm saying that the translation sometimes is better. 00:37:59.09\00:38:01.39 Are you understanding the distinction? 00:38:01.42\00:38:03.14 We have to be practical. 00:38:03.66\00:38:04.98 Now, notice Revelation chapter 20 00:38:05.52\00:38:07.96 and let's go to verse 6. 00:38:08.32\00:38:11.11 Actually, verse 4. 00:38:11.14\00:38:12.27 "And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, 00:38:12.72\00:38:14.55 and judgment was committed to them. 00:38:14.58\00:38:16.21 Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded 00:38:16.41\00:38:18.82 for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, 00:38:18.85\00:38:21.08 who had not worshiped the beast or his image, 00:38:21.28\00:38:23.53 and had not received his mark on their foreheads 00:38:23.56\00:38:25.57 or on their hands. 00:38:25.67\00:38:26.70 And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. 00:38:26.73\00:38:30.06 But the rest of the dead did not live again 00:38:31.29\00:38:33.23 until the thousand years were finished. 00:38:33.26\00:38:34.79 This is the first resurrection." 00:38:35.03\00:38:36.87 Wow, there you have... See the problem? 00:38:36.90\00:38:38.93 So those who resurrect after the thousand years, 00:38:40.18\00:38:42.22 that's the first resurrection, right? 00:38:42.25\00:38:44.38 No, because we already noticed that those who resurrected 00:38:44.92\00:38:47.80 in the first resurrection are the righteous. 00:38:47.83\00:38:49.50 So what do you do? 00:38:49.53\00:38:50.56 If you put parentheses around the portion of verse 5 00:38:50.72\00:38:55.30 that says, "But the rest of the dead did not live again 00:38:55.33\00:38:59.07 until the thousand years were finished," if you put paren... 00:38:59.10\00:39:01.55 What is a parenthesis? 00:39:01.58\00:39:02.61 What is the purpose of parentheses? 00:39:02.64\00:39:04.35 It is to break the flow of thought to add an explanation. 00:39:05.06\00:39:07.93 And so if you put parentheses there, and you read verse 4, 00:39:08.91\00:39:14.17 and you connect it with verse 6 and leave 5 in parentheses, 00:39:14.63\00:39:19.00 this is the way it would read: 00:39:19.10\00:39:20.46 Verse 4 again, "And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, 00:39:21.09\00:39:24.77 and judgment was committed to them. 00:39:24.80\00:39:26.28 Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded 00:39:26.31\00:39:28.44 for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, 00:39:28.47\00:39:30.76 who had not worshiped the beast or his image, 00:39:30.79\00:39:32.58 and had not received his mark on their foreheads 00:39:32.61\00:39:34.78 or on their hands. 00:39:34.81\00:39:35.85 And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. 00:39:35.88\00:39:38.69 Blessed and holy... 00:39:38.72\00:39:40.57 This is the first resurrection." 00:39:40.75\00:39:42.48 Are you with me? 00:39:42.51\00:39:43.54 So you skip what is in parentheses. 00:39:44.26\00:39:46.05 It's an explanatory note about the rest of the dead. 00:39:46.08\00:39:49.01 Okay, I see you nodding. So that's good. 00:39:50.16\00:39:53.11 Now at the end of the thousand years, 00:39:54.79\00:39:56.88 going back to our material, 00:39:56.91\00:39:58.19 at the end of the thousand years, Satan will be what? 00:39:58.22\00:40:00.95 Released from his prison. 00:40:01.65\00:40:03.32 And he will go out to deceive the nations once again. 00:40:03.35\00:40:06.28 What does it mean that he's unbound? 00:40:08.55\00:40:10.48 The rest of the dead live again. 00:40:12.53\00:40:14.22 Notice, if all the wicked are dead during the thousand years, 00:40:14.96\00:40:19.04 then Satan will have no one to deceive. 00:40:19.78\00:40:22.44 When the wicked resurrect at the end of the thousand years, 00:40:23.32\00:40:26.31 Satan will have his power base back 00:40:26.34\00:40:29.00 and will be able to deceive once again. 00:40:29.03\00:40:31.12 Thus, the binding and unbinding of Satan is explained by 00:40:31.74\00:40:35.42 the condition of the wicked. 00:40:35.45\00:40:36.79 When they are dead, Satan is bound. 00:40:37.28\00:40:39.81 When they resurrect, Satan is unbound. 00:40:39.84\00:40:42.78 Revelation 20 verse 5 contains the key that explains 00:40:43.26\00:40:47.06 the binding and unbinding of Satan. 00:40:47.09\00:40:49.62 How much power does Satan have if he doesn't 00:40:49.98\00:40:52.49 have any followers? 00:40:52.52\00:40:54.26 None, he is bound. 00:40:54.46\00:40:56.00 And when his wicked followers resurrect, 00:40:57.77\00:41:00.45 he has his power base back. 00:41:00.55\00:41:02.59 And so he is unbound. 00:41:02.87\00:41:05.11 Notice that the host of the wicked will be innumerable, 00:41:05.68\00:41:08.81 like the sand of the sea, and they will come from the 00:41:09.48\00:41:12.40 four corners of the earth. 00:41:12.43\00:41:13.88 The cards seem to be stacked in favor of the wicked, 00:41:14.23\00:41:17.59 and the righteous appear to be in jeopardy. 00:41:17.62\00:41:20.67 Now before we go to the next point, 00:41:21.17\00:41:23.83 I want to say that the judgment that takes place 00:41:23.86\00:41:26.32 during the thousand years is not going to change anything. 00:41:26.35\00:41:30.91 There's not going to be anybody that when you open the books 00:41:31.99\00:41:35.07 you say, "Oh Lord, this one should have been up here." 00:41:35.10\00:41:37.12 The judgment during the thousand years 00:41:38.50\00:41:40.50 is God's great audit. 00:41:40.53\00:41:42.33 What does an auditor do? 00:41:43.56\00:41:44.96 He cooks the books, right? 00:41:45.85\00:41:47.50 No, an auditor checks the books to see if the accounting 00:41:48.01\00:41:52.06 was done correctly. 00:41:52.43\00:41:53.79 And so during the thousand years, 00:41:54.88\00:41:56.25 God is going to do an audit. 00:41:56.28\00:41:58.07 And by the way, when you examine the audit, you will say, 00:41:58.66\00:42:00.83 "Wow, the books were kept just right." 00:42:00.86\00:42:04.49 So the thousand year judgment is God's audit. 00:42:05.72\00:42:08.26 I also like to compare it with an instant replay. 00:42:09.36\00:42:12.15 You know, when a baseball game is going on 00:42:13.22\00:42:16.40 and there's a close play at first base, 00:42:16.43\00:42:18.46 and the umpire calls the individual safe 00:42:19.14\00:42:21.22 and everybody is booing, what do you want to see? 00:42:21.25\00:42:23.66 You want to see the replay to see if the umpire got it right. 00:42:24.32\00:42:28.78 And so the purpose of the millennial judgment 00:42:29.74\00:42:32.26 is, you see, God has called the wicked out. 00:42:32.29\00:42:37.53 He says, "You're out of here." 00:42:38.69\00:42:40.47 And so the purpose of the judgment is to examine 00:42:41.11\00:42:44.02 if the umpire got it right. 00:42:44.05\00:42:46.07 And we're going to discover that He got it right 00:42:46.70\00:42:48.62 in every single case. 00:42:48.65\00:42:50.94 The purpose is not to reverse any case. 00:42:51.09\00:42:53.95 The purpose is to show that God did everything right. 00:42:53.98\00:42:58.60 Now let's continue here. 00:42:59.50\00:43:00.83 The wicked surround the what? 00:43:00.86\00:43:03.34 The camp of the saints and the beloved city. 00:43:03.71\00:43:05.97 Let me ask you, who is the center of focus here? 00:43:06.00\00:43:08.74 Is it the wicked or is it the righteous? 00:43:10.44\00:43:12.76 It's still the righteous. 00:43:13.17\00:43:14.70 What is the purpose of saying that the wicked 00:43:15.98\00:43:18.10 surrounded the city? 00:43:18.13\00:43:19.47 Well, they put the righteous in jeopardy, right? 00:43:19.77\00:43:21.77 So the center of focus is still the righteous. 00:43:22.21\00:43:24.84 Because they're in the city and the wicked surround it, 00:43:25.20\00:43:27.87 and it looks like the righteous are going to be destroyed. 00:43:27.90\00:43:30.92 The center of focus is still the righteous. 00:43:30.95\00:43:32.98 Now, let's read the note. 00:43:33.49\00:43:35.14 They surround the camp of the saints. 00:43:35.17\00:43:37.23 What happened to God's people all over the earth 00:43:37.26\00:43:39.83 before the millennium now happens to God's people 00:43:39.86\00:43:42.49 all gathered in one place. 00:43:42.52\00:43:44.18 See, before the millennium, Jerusalem is what? 00:43:45.11\00:43:48.03 Worldwide. Jerusalem is global. 00:43:49.02\00:43:51.30 So when the wicked gather around Jerusalem 00:43:51.92\00:43:53.98 before the second coming, they're gathering around 00:43:54.01\00:43:57.75 Jerusalem worldwide. 00:43:57.78\00:43:59.31 Are you following me? 00:43:59.69\00:44:00.75 After the second coming and the millennium, 00:44:01.36\00:44:04.51 things become literal. 00:44:04.54\00:44:06.13 God's people are literally within the literal city, 00:44:06.81\00:44:09.79 and the wicked literally gather around the city. 00:44:09.82\00:44:12.08 Do you see the principle? 00:44:12.11\00:44:13.37 And so, you know, futurists have it wrong. 00:44:14.73\00:44:18.14 They say, "Oh, the wicked are going to gather around 00:44:18.17\00:44:19.98 little Jerusalem in the Middle East before the second coming." 00:44:20.01\00:44:22.26 No. 00:44:22.29\00:44:23.78 It violates the principle. 00:44:23.81\00:44:25.40 The principle is that before the second coming 00:44:25.98\00:44:28.22 Jerusalem is global. 00:44:28.25\00:44:30.38 And therefore, the enemies are global. 00:44:31.12\00:44:32.80 And the gathering of the enemies is a global gathering 00:44:32.83\00:44:35.35 against global Jerusalem. 00:44:35.38\00:44:37.06 And then when Jesus comes, after the millennium He comes down. 00:44:37.85\00:44:41.21 Then you will deal with the literal. 00:44:41.31\00:44:42.80 It'll be a literal city with all of God's literal saints inside. 00:44:42.83\00:44:45.81 The wicked will literally gather around the city. 00:44:45.84\00:44:47.90 Are you understanding the principle? 00:44:47.93\00:44:49.46 Now, forgive me for getting so excited. 00:44:50.17\00:44:53.96 What happened to God's people all over the earth 00:44:56.90\00:44:58.92 before the millennium now happens to God's people 00:44:58.95\00:45:01.25 all gathered in one place. 00:45:01.28\00:45:02.79 Jerusalem, before the millennium, is worldwide; 00:45:02.82\00:45:04.91 where two or three are gathered in Christ's name. 00:45:04.94\00:45:07.14 But after the millennium, all God's people are gathered 00:45:07.17\00:45:09.74 in a literal place in the literal Jerusalem. 00:45:09.77\00:45:12.13 They are gathered there at the second coming of Jesus. 00:45:12.16\00:45:14.69 Satan, his angels, and the wicked will be unable to 00:45:16.28\00:45:19.76 conquer the city. 00:45:19.79\00:45:20.82 They will all be cast into the lake of fire and brimstone 00:45:20.85\00:45:25.45 where the beast and the false prophet had been cast 00:45:25.48\00:45:28.73 before the millennium. 00:45:29.00\00:45:31.09 So what happens with God's people? 00:45:33.36\00:45:35.35 Are the wicked able to destroy them? No. 00:45:35.75\00:45:38.72 So let me ask you, what is the focus 00:45:38.86\00:45:40.39 of the second passage here? 00:45:40.42\00:45:42.25 Do you see that it took you full circle again? 00:45:42.89\00:45:45.07 What happens with the righteous at the beginning, 00:45:45.54\00:45:47.57 during, what they did during the millennium, 00:45:47.87\00:45:50.36 and what happened at the end of the millennium. 00:45:50.39\00:45:52.19 But now we don't know much about the wicked 00:45:52.85\00:45:55.40 except that they surrounded the city to destroy the saints. 00:45:55.43\00:45:57.58 So we need to know, did God show the wicked their cases? 00:45:57.61\00:46:01.42 I mean, did God do a judgment so that the wicked 00:46:01.45\00:46:04.22 could see the judgment that the righteous performed 00:46:04.25\00:46:06.72 during the thousand years? 00:46:06.75\00:46:07.80 Are you understanding me? 00:46:07.83\00:46:09.00 So we go to the third cycle. 00:46:09.77\00:46:11.58 Revelation 20:11 to 21 verse 1. 00:46:11.61\00:46:14.50 Revelation 20:11 through 21:1 goes over the same ground 00:46:15.57\00:46:20.16 as the previous two outlines. 00:46:20.19\00:46:21.84 But the central concern is with the judgment of the wicked 00:46:22.08\00:46:25.33 after the millennium. 00:46:25.36\00:46:26.75 After the thousand years, the rest of the dead live again. 00:46:27.52\00:46:32.98 Now, this is important. 00:46:34.54\00:46:35.94 At the second coming of Jesus, what appears? 00:46:37.00\00:46:41.48 A white throne. 00:46:41.86\00:46:43.33 See, Revelation 20 verse 11, folks, is not describing 00:46:43.96\00:46:48.62 something that happens after the millennium. 00:46:48.82\00:46:51.08 Revelation 20 verse 11 is speaking about an event 00:46:51.49\00:46:54.23 that takes place at the second coming. 00:46:54.26\00:46:56.22 Because it's taking you back to the beginning 00:46:57.35\00:46:58.92 of the millennium again. 00:46:58.95\00:47:00.85 And you're going to see that in a minute. 00:47:01.98\00:47:03.44 At the second coming of Jesus, a white throne appears. 00:47:04.02\00:47:06.70 We are told in Revelation 20 verse 11, 00:47:06.73\00:47:08.89 "Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, 00:47:08.92\00:47:11.98 from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. 00:47:12.19\00:47:15.88 And there was found no place for them." 00:47:15.91\00:47:18.96 Now let's read the note. 00:47:21.73\00:47:23.71 The events of Revelation 20 verse 11 00:47:24.36\00:47:26.54 take place at the second coming at the beginning 00:47:26.57\00:47:29.26 of the millennium. 00:47:29.29\00:47:30.47 Notice this event as described in Revelation 6:14-17. 00:47:31.14\00:47:34.75 You say, "Now wait a minute. 00:47:34.78\00:47:35.95 Does Jesus at His second coming come seated on a throne?" 00:47:36.49\00:47:39.35 Yes He does. 00:47:39.38\00:47:40.52 He's depicted as coming on a horse; He's a conqueror, 00:47:41.62\00:47:44.12 but He also comes on a throne because He's a King. 00:47:44.22\00:47:46.89 Different emphases. 00:47:47.84\00:47:49.49 Notice this event as described in Revelation 6:14-17. 00:47:51.53\00:47:55.13 It says, "Then the sky receded as a scroll 00:47:55.16\00:47:58.06 when it is rolled up..." 00:47:58.75\00:47:59.78 Does the sky disappear then? 00:47:59.81\00:48:01.93 Yes. 00:48:01.96\00:48:03.01 "...and every mountain and island was moved 00:48:03.04\00:48:05.37 out of its place. 00:48:05.40\00:48:06.79 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, 00:48:07.65\00:48:10.05 the commanders, the mighty men, every slave and every free man, 00:48:10.08\00:48:12.77 hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains, 00:48:12.97\00:48:15.57 and said to the mountains and the rocks, 00:48:15.60\00:48:17.48 'Fall on us and hide us from the face of Him 00:48:17.51\00:48:19.90 who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb. 00:48:19.93\00:48:23.10 For the great day of His wrath has come, 00:48:23.13\00:48:24.65 and who is able to stand?'" 00:48:24.68\00:48:26.02 Does Jesus sit on a throne at His second coming? 00:48:26.05\00:48:28.49 He most certainly does. 00:48:29.27\00:48:30.38 So Revelation 20 verse 11 is really depicting Jesus 00:48:30.41\00:48:34.35 coming and sitting on that throne. 00:48:34.38\00:48:36.17 Because if you read Revelation 20:11, 00:48:37.45\00:48:39.18 it says the heaven recedes and the earth disappears. 00:48:39.21\00:48:43.16 Very similar description. 00:48:43.48\00:48:44.91 Now notice, Revelation 20 verse 12 then describes... 00:48:46.05\00:48:50.50 This is important. 00:48:50.53\00:48:51.56 Now we're going to go to an event that happens 00:48:51.59\00:48:53.06 during the millennium. 00:48:53.09\00:48:54.28 See, the white throne is at the beginning. 00:48:54.38\00:48:57.34 The second coming. 00:48:57.65\00:48:59.39 Now we're going to deal with what happens 00:48:59.66\00:49:01.33 during the millennium. 00:49:01.36\00:49:02.59 It says, Revelation 20 verse 12 says 00:49:02.84\00:49:05.52 the dead were standing before God. 00:49:05.55\00:49:08.00 Which dead? 00:49:08.77\00:49:09.80 The righteous dead? 00:49:11.40\00:49:12.43 No, the righteous dead are already in heaven, folks. 00:49:12.46\00:49:14.39 So who is standing before God? 00:49:14.87\00:49:16.62 The wicked dead. 00:49:16.65\00:49:17.68 How can wicked dead people stand before God 00:49:17.71\00:49:19.66 if they're dead? 00:49:19.69\00:49:20.88 Nope, not in verse 12 they don't. 00:49:21.83\00:49:23.85 In verse 12 they're not resurrected. 00:49:25.26\00:49:27.70 Yes. 00:49:30.13\00:49:31.49 The dead stand before God through the books. 00:49:32.05\00:49:34.89 Just like the righteous stood before God in the books 00:49:35.73\00:49:38.83 during the investigative judgment. 00:49:38.86\00:49:40.20 Are you with me? 00:49:40.23\00:49:41.31 I'm going to prove it to you. 00:49:42.00\00:49:43.41 So it says, Revelation 20 verse 12 then describes 00:49:44.16\00:49:47.74 the dead standing before God, books are opened. 00:49:49.17\00:49:53.22 "And another book is opened, which is the Book of Life." 00:49:53.25\00:49:56.29 And listen carefully. 00:49:56.32\00:49:57.56 And the dead were judged according to the things 00:49:57.59\00:50:00.31 that were written in the books, according to their works. 00:50:00.34\00:50:02.78 Who was judged? 00:50:03.72\00:50:04.80 Not those were are alive. 00:50:05.34\00:50:06.61 The dead. 00:50:06.64\00:50:08.01 So the white throne is the second coming. 00:50:09.49\00:50:11.69 Then the dead are judged. 00:50:12.81\00:50:14.86 And then comes the resurrection after the millennium. 00:50:15.52\00:50:17.97 Yea, absolutely. It's another cycle. 00:50:20.94\00:50:24.74 Notice, let's read the note here. 00:50:25.33\00:50:28.33 This verse is describing events that take place 00:50:29.11\00:50:31.78 during the millennium. 00:50:31.81\00:50:32.84 It is obvious that dead people cannot stand 00:50:32.87\00:50:34.99 before God personally. 00:50:35.02\00:50:36.32 The text explicitly states that the wicked stood before God 00:50:36.35\00:50:39.83 through the record of their lives. 00:50:39.86\00:50:41.96 Through their works, right? 00:50:42.07\00:50:43.55 In the fourth outline, we will notice what those works were 00:50:43.85\00:50:46.87 that condemned the wicked. 00:50:46.90\00:50:48.22 See, there's no list in this cycle. 00:50:48.74\00:50:50.65 But in the last cycle we're going to see why they were lost. 00:50:50.68\00:50:54.48 In the fourth outline we will notice that those whose works 00:50:56.04\00:50:59.18 condemn them will be deleted from the Book of Life. 00:50:59.21\00:51:02.28 Revelation 20 verse 12 is describing the judgment 00:51:02.31\00:51:04.67 of the wicked dead during the millennium. 00:51:04.70\00:51:07.23 But now notice. 00:51:07.87\00:51:09.10 The first part of Revelation 20 verse 13 00:51:09.44\00:51:12.33 describes the resurrection of the wicked dead 00:51:12.36\00:51:15.04 after the millennium. 00:51:15.07\00:51:16.47 Because we are told that the sea gave up the dead 00:51:17.44\00:51:21.35 who were in it. 00:51:21.38\00:51:22.42 And death and Hades, which is the grave, 00:51:22.45\00:51:24.98 delivered up the dead who were in them. 00:51:25.18\00:51:28.08 What does that mean, that the sea and the grave 00:51:29.38\00:51:32.99 gave up the dead that were in them? 00:51:33.02\00:51:35.23 That is the resurrection. 00:51:35.92\00:51:38.02 In Isaiah 26, it says that the earth will cast forth the dead. 00:51:39.71\00:51:43.87 A very similar expression. 00:51:44.58\00:51:46.01 So, you have the white throne at the second coming. 00:51:46.21\00:51:49.81 You have the judgment of the dead during the thousand years. 00:51:50.15\00:51:53.40 And now you have the resurrection 00:51:53.43\00:51:54.82 after the thousand years. 00:51:54.85\00:51:55.88 Are the wicked going to see the record of their lives 00:51:55.99\00:51:58.30 when they resurrect? 00:51:58.33\00:51:59.50 Notice, it's clear. 00:52:00.44\00:52:02.15 Ellen White was right. 00:52:02.18\00:52:03.75 And she didn't get it from a vision. 00:52:05.23\00:52:06.90 She's getting it from Scripture. 00:52:06.93\00:52:08.67 Notice, the first part of Revelation 20:13 describes 00:52:10.21\00:52:14.52 the resurrection of the wicked dead after the millennium. 00:52:14.55\00:52:16.90 Because we are told that the sea gave up the dead 00:52:16.93\00:52:19.38 who were in it, and death and Hades delivered up the dead 00:52:19.41\00:52:21.95 who were in them. 00:52:21.98\00:52:23.02 According to the second part of Revelation 20 verse 13, 00:52:23.22\00:52:26.24 after the wicked resurrected, what happened? 00:52:26.27\00:52:29.34 They were judged, each one according to his works. 00:52:29.44\00:52:32.78 So are the wicked going to see the record of their lives? 00:52:33.43\00:52:37.10 Yes they are. 00:52:37.13\00:52:38.20 We know that this judgment, listen carefully, 00:52:38.56\00:52:41.40 takes place on earth. 00:52:41.43\00:52:43.63 Because according to verses 7 through 9, 00:52:43.83\00:52:45.71 the wicked surrounded the holy city on earth. 00:52:45.74\00:52:48.25 Now listen, the books, plural, contain the works of the wicked. 00:52:50.17\00:52:54.60 And they are judged according to the things which were written 00:52:55.41\00:52:58.35 in the books. 00:52:58.38\00:53:00.43 Though we are saved by grace through faith, 00:53:01.95\00:53:04.62 our works reveal whether our faith is genuine. 00:53:05.82\00:53:08.64 In the judgment, it will be seen that many of the wicked said, 00:53:09.42\00:53:13.85 "Lord, Lord," but their lives were filled with lawlessness. 00:53:13.88\00:53:18.66 The Book of Life contains what? 00:53:20.65\00:53:22.72 The names of all those who will be saved. 00:53:23.21\00:53:27.73 Now why is the book of life brought out 00:53:30.38\00:53:32.49 in this post millennial judgment? 00:53:32.52\00:53:34.83 Why is the book... 00:53:36.11\00:53:37.95 It says, "books were opened," and then it says, 00:53:37.98\00:53:39.97 another book, the Book of Life, was opened. 00:53:40.00\00:53:41.52 Do you know why? 00:53:41.55\00:53:42.58 Because God is going to show the wicked 00:53:42.61\00:53:44.41 the record of their lives, and then He's going to 00:53:45.07\00:53:46.93 open up the Book of Life and say, "Your name isn't here." 00:53:46.96\00:53:50.51 Because the last verse of Revelation 20 says 00:53:52.90\00:53:55.08 whoever was not found in the Book of Life 00:53:55.11\00:53:57.65 was cast into the lake of fire. 00:53:57.68\00:53:59.27 The purpose of the Book of Life is to show them 00:53:59.85\00:54:02.04 that they are not there. 00:54:02.07\00:54:03.37 And the reason they are not there is because of 00:54:03.40\00:54:05.91 what is in the books. 00:54:05.94\00:54:07.34 Are you with me? 00:54:08.42\00:54:09.52 See, there's so much more in this passage 00:54:09.92\00:54:12.88 than what we've seen as Adventists. 00:54:12.91\00:54:14.91 You know, we just study and read the same old stuff 00:54:16.15\00:54:18.68 that we've read time and again. 00:54:18.71\00:54:21.28 And we preach it over and over again. 00:54:21.48\00:54:23.29 Because we don't go to the text and study for ourselves. 00:54:23.32\00:54:25.67 I don't have any divine enlightenment. 00:54:25.77\00:54:27.31 I'm not more intelligent than any of you. 00:54:27.34\00:54:29.37 I'm probably less intelligent than many of you. 00:54:29.57\00:54:32.05 But you can go to Scripture and you can study 00:54:32.99\00:54:34.90 these things for yourselves. 00:54:34.93\00:54:36.30 But we have to invest the time and the effort, 00:54:36.96\00:54:39.20 and we have to pray, and we have to ask the text questions, 00:54:39.23\00:54:42.32 and we have to search for answers to the questions. 00:54:42.35\00:54:45.21 We have to be inquisitive readers. 00:54:45.69\00:54:48.33 Our mind has to be engaged when we're studying Scripture, 00:54:48.99\00:54:52.26 in other words. 00:54:52.29\00:54:53.48 Don't just be reflectors of what other people have said 00:54:54.15\00:54:56.66 about the millennium. 00:54:56.69\00:54:57.78 Go and study it for yourself and read the spirit of prophecy. 00:54:57.81\00:55:00.74 It's amazing when you read 00:55:00.77\00:55:02.31 the last chapter of, Great Controversy. 00:55:02.34\00:55:03.92 It's all there. 00:55:03.95\00:55:05.10 Anyway. 00:55:07.90\00:55:08.97 Preaching to the choir, I know. 00:55:14.43\00:55:16.15 Now listen, the note. 00:55:18.87\00:55:20.72 The names of the lost will not be found in the Book of Life 00:55:21.09\00:55:24.49 because of the record of their lives, 00:55:24.52\00:55:26.18 which was written in the books. 00:55:26.21\00:55:27.63 At this point, we do not know what those works were. 00:55:28.48\00:55:31.85 But in the next outline we will. 00:55:33.51\00:55:35.31 It is a remarkable fact that God will not destroy the wicked 00:55:35.90\00:55:39.29 until they are convinced that God dealt justly with them. 00:55:39.32\00:55:42.92 They will even see the record. 00:55:42.95\00:55:44.49 After the judgment of the wicked, they will be what? 00:55:45.25\00:55:47.70 They will be cast into the lake of fire, 00:55:48.12\00:55:50.06 and will suffer what? 00:55:50.09\00:55:51.64 Second death. 00:55:51.67\00:55:52.98 Revelation 20 verses 14 and 15 reaches the same climax 00:55:53.01\00:55:58.25 as had previously been reached in Revelation 20 verses 8 and 9 00:55:58.28\00:56:02.23 where it says that the wicked, and the devil, and his angels, 00:56:02.26\00:56:04.30 were thrown into the lake of fire. 00:56:04.33\00:56:05.82 Now you have the same climax again. 00:56:05.85\00:56:08.11 But it's a climax of the third outline. 00:56:08.52\00:56:11.07 After all, there are not two lakes of fire 00:56:12.09\00:56:14.71 where the wicked will be cast. 00:56:14.83\00:56:15.98 There's only one. 00:56:16.01\00:56:17.10 After Satan and his angels and the wicked... 00:56:17.54\00:56:20.07 After Satan, and his angels, the wicked, death, and the grave 00:56:21.63\00:56:25.34 have been cast into the lake of fire, 00:56:25.37\00:56:27.08 God will make what? 00:56:27.11\00:56:28.73 A new heavens and a new earth, because the first heaven 00:56:28.92\00:56:32.24 and the first earth had passed away. 00:56:32.27\00:56:33.86 Let me ask you, does Revelation 21 verse 1 00:56:33.89\00:56:36.05 belong to chapter 20? 00:56:36.08\00:56:37.75 It does. 00:56:38.59\00:56:39.73 After the lake of fire, then we find that God makes what? 00:56:39.76\00:56:43.68 A new heaven and a new earth. 00:56:44.00\00:56:46.21 In other words, the chapter division is in the wrong place. 00:56:46.24\00:56:49.57 Now, our time is just about up. 00:56:52.56\00:56:54.13 So we're going to have to take a little bit of our next session 00:56:54.16\00:56:57.24 to finish outline number four. 00:56:57.27\00:56:59.38 But we're going to notice in our study of the last page 00:56:59.79\00:57:05.02 of this material that you have before you 00:57:05.12\00:57:08.11 that the purpose of the fourth outline 00:57:08.42\00:57:10.63 is to show what was contained in the records of the wicked. 00:57:11.17\00:57:15.23 And it is also going to show us what life will be like 00:57:15.87\00:57:21.77 in the holy city and in the new earth. 00:57:22.29\00:57:24.64 And of course, we have to take a look at that. 00:57:25.52\00:57:27.73 So in our next session, we are going to take a look at 00:57:28.12\00:57:32.56 cycle number four. 00:57:32.59\00:57:34.48 Have you been understanding what we've studied so far? 00:57:34.51\00:57:36.85 We're going to take a look at cycle number four, 00:57:37.09\00:57:39.06 and then we will have a complete picture 00:57:39.09\00:57:41.87 of the millennium. 00:57:42.27\00:57:43.50
