Welcome back, everybody. 00:00:15.74\00:00:17.75 I hope that you had a good lunch. 00:00:18.66\00:00:20.67 I know I did. 00:00:21.25\00:00:22.50 I had the chance of going home and eating lunch, 00:00:23.11\00:00:25.70 and changing my suit. 00:00:25.80\00:00:27.78 The production crew said that light suit is not good, 00:00:28.84\00:00:32.79 because it's hard to color balance. 00:00:32.82\00:00:34.82 So I have to obey the production crew. 00:00:34.85\00:00:37.99 They know best. 00:00:38.09\00:00:39.33 They are the ones that do the technology. 00:00:39.74\00:00:42.70 This afternoon we are going to conclude our remarks about 00:00:42.90\00:00:46.98 the importance of the Sanctuary in the study of Bible prophecy. 00:00:47.01\00:00:51.60 You know, I could have spoken about Daniel. 00:00:51.92\00:00:54.73 Daniel also has many Sanctuary scenes. 00:00:55.31\00:00:58.75 You know, Daniel 7 has Jesus coming on the clouds 00:00:58.95\00:01:01.62 to the Ancient of Days for the judgment. 00:01:01.65\00:01:03.73 That's the Day of Atonement. 00:01:03.76\00:01:05.46 In Daniel chapter 8, the Sanctuary shall be cleansed. 00:01:05.71\00:01:09.13 In Daniel chapter 11, the king of the north 00:01:09.23\00:01:11.38 tramples on the Sanctuary. 00:01:11.41\00:01:12.75 So the book of Daniel is saturated 00:01:12.78\00:01:15.35 with the Sanctuary as well. 00:01:15.38\00:01:16.86 But we just don't have enough time to refer to all of the 00:01:16.89\00:01:20.50 Sanctuary scenes in Daniel and Revelation. 00:01:20.53\00:01:23.07 So let's go to the document that is titled, 00:01:23.42\00:01:28.02 "The Sanctuary Sequence in the Book of Revelation." 00:01:28.05\00:01:30.88 That will be our study. 00:01:30.91\00:01:31.94 But before we do, we want to have a word of prayer 00:01:31.97\00:01:34.81 to ask the Lord's blessing for our session this afternoon. 00:01:34.84\00:01:37.69 So let's bow our heads. 00:01:37.72\00:01:39.05 Father in heaven, we thank You for the privilege of 00:01:39.54\00:01:41.92 being here once again, and we plead for the Holy Spirit 00:01:41.95\00:01:46.05 to be present with us. 00:01:46.08\00:01:47.43 Bless us as we study, give us understanding, 00:01:48.08\00:01:50.40 open our minds, open our hearts, that we might be able to 00:01:50.43\00:01:54.16 receive the seed of truth. 00:01:54.19\00:01:55.96 And we thank You, Father, for the promise of Your presence, 00:01:55.99\00:01:58.62 because we ask it in Jesus' name, amen. 00:01:58.90\00:02:01.82 Okay, "The Sanctuary Sequence in the Book of Revelation." 00:02:03.46\00:02:07.03 This basically is a review and amplification of the chart 00:02:07.06\00:02:12.08 that we looked at this morning. 00:02:12.11\00:02:13.81 Now as you see at the top of the page, there are five places 00:02:14.36\00:02:19.97 of the Sanctuary ministration. 00:02:20.41\00:02:21.97 Five places. 00:02:22.00\00:02:23.37 The first place is in the camp. 00:02:23.75\00:02:25.93 What did Jesus do in the camp? 00:02:25.96\00:02:27.77 In the camp, Jesus lived His perfect life. 00:02:28.90\00:02:32.31 He came and camped in our midst. 00:02:32.84\00:02:34.67 He tabernacled among us. 00:02:34.70\00:02:36.78 And the purpose of His life was to live the life 00:02:37.09\00:02:40.10 that the law requires from us. 00:02:40.13\00:02:42.00 You see, we can't offer the law perfection. 00:02:42.03\00:02:44.22 And so because we can't offer the law perfection, 00:02:44.75\00:02:47.32 the law says you have to die. 00:02:47.82\00:02:49.61 But of course, we don't want to die. 00:02:49.97\00:02:51.36 And so how can we offer the law what the law requires? 00:02:51.85\00:02:55.45 The only way is if the Creator, Jesus Christ, takes the place 00:02:55.65\00:03:00.14 of His creatures and lives the life in human flesh 00:03:00.17\00:03:03.17 that we should live. 00:03:03.20\00:03:04.58 And then Jesus bore our sins upon Himself, 00:03:05.06\00:03:08.28 and He went to the cross. 00:03:08.58\00:03:10.32 In other words, He died the death that we should die. 00:03:10.35\00:03:13.09 So basically, the first step in the Sanctuary service 00:03:13.35\00:03:17.73 is the perfect life of Jesus in the camp with us. 00:03:17.93\00:03:22.65 That is symbolized by the lamb without blemish. 00:03:23.05\00:03:25.55 You know, when they brought a lamb to the Sanctuary, 00:03:25.58\00:03:28.79 it had to be without blemish even before it was killed. 00:03:28.82\00:03:31.58 And so Jesus Christ had to have a life without blemish, 00:03:32.04\00:03:35.25 or else His sacrifice would not have been accepted. 00:03:35.28\00:03:38.04 Now the second step, of course, is in the outer court. 00:03:38.37\00:03:41.20 And in the outer court, you have the altar of sacrifice. 00:03:41.60\00:03:44.08 And that is where Jesus died. 00:03:44.11\00:03:47.04 The altar of sacrifice represents the cross of Calvary. 00:03:47.34\00:03:51.60 And there He bore our sins. 00:03:51.63\00:03:53.45 Now, there's one piece of furniture that I don't 00:03:53.80\00:03:56.24 mention here, it's part of the court, 00:03:56.27\00:03:58.60 which is the laver. 00:03:58.80\00:04:01.14 And after the priest offered the sacrifice, he would go 00:04:01.80\00:04:05.16 and he would cleanse himself before he went 00:04:05.19\00:04:07.31 into the Holy Place. 00:04:07.34\00:04:08.85 And basically, this represents the fact that Jesus totally 00:04:08.92\00:04:11.86 cleansed Himself from death. 00:04:11.89\00:04:13.81 He came forth from the tomb. 00:04:13.84\00:04:15.21 Death defiles. 00:04:15.42\00:04:16.55 You couldn't touch even the body of a dead person 00:04:16.65\00:04:19.07 because you'd become defiled. 00:04:19.10\00:04:20.99 So Jesus left death behind. 00:04:21.02\00:04:22.75 He cleansed Himself from death at the laver. 00:04:22.78\00:04:25.46 And then the next function in the Sanctuary 00:04:25.95\00:04:28.52 is in the Holy Place. 00:04:28.55\00:04:30.04 And that's where Jesus intercedes for individuals 00:04:30.43\00:04:33.72 and applies His life and His death to those who come to Him 00:04:33.96\00:04:38.80 in repentance confessing their sins. 00:04:38.86\00:04:41.56 Then He takes the benefits of His life and death 00:04:41.59\00:04:44.12 and He places them to their personal account. 00:04:44.15\00:04:47.47 Then the fourth place in the Sanctuary 00:04:47.92\00:04:50.00 is the Most Holy Place. 00:04:50.03\00:04:52.27 And that is where Jesus goes into the Most Holy Place 00:04:52.50\00:04:55.62 to perform a work of judgment beginning in the year 1844, 00:04:55.65\00:05:00.24 October 22, 1844. 00:05:00.27\00:05:02.54 And then the last place, which is very important, 00:05:03.08\00:05:05.68 is the outer court again. 00:05:05.71\00:05:07.29 In the outer court, once the Sanctuary was cleansed, 00:05:08.08\00:05:11.69 the sins that had been forgiven by the blood 00:05:11.97\00:05:14.45 now were brought out and they were placed 00:05:14.70\00:05:17.31 on the head of the scapegoat. 00:05:17.34\00:05:19.30 And if you read Leviticus 16 verse 7, it says that the 00:05:19.51\00:05:22.45 scapegoat was at the entrance to the tabernacle of meeting. 00:05:22.48\00:05:26.46 And that's, the devil is going to be on earth, isn't he. 00:05:26.56\00:05:28.80 He's going to be in the court on earth. 00:05:28.83\00:05:30.65 And Jesus is going to come out and He's going to place 00:05:30.75\00:05:33.70 the ultimate responsibility as the originator and instigator 00:05:33.74\00:05:37.24 of sin upon Azazel, upon the scapegoat. 00:05:37.27\00:05:41.14 And then of course Jesus goes back into the Most Holy Place. 00:05:41.17\00:05:44.14 He changes His garments from His priestly garments, 00:05:44.35\00:05:48.07 because His priestly functions have already come to an end, 00:05:48.10\00:05:51.14 His high priestly functions. 00:05:51.17\00:05:52.57 And then Jesus places His kingly garments upon Himself. 00:05:52.79\00:05:57.97 And that is where Jesus returns to the earth 00:05:58.15\00:06:00.84 as King of kings and Lord of lords. 00:06:00.87\00:06:03.49 So those are the five key places of the Sanctuary. 00:06:03.60\00:06:06.88 Those are the functions of Jesus in the Sanctuary. 00:06:06.91\00:06:09.87 Now we all know that the Sanctuary service 00:06:10.13\00:06:12.92 had two parts, two main parts. 00:06:12.95\00:06:15.37 I'm not talking about geographically. 00:06:15.40\00:06:17.25 I'm talking in terms of ministration. 00:06:17.28\00:06:19.74 The first was the daily service. 00:06:20.02\00:06:22.34 And the daily service was performed in the camp, 00:06:22.63\00:06:26.09 in the court, and in the Holy Place. 00:06:26.67\00:06:29.65 And then there was the yearly service. 00:06:29.99\00:06:32.20 And the yearly service was performed 00:06:32.65\00:06:34.87 in the Most Holy Place. 00:06:34.90\00:06:36.93 And then at the conclusion of the Day of Atonement, 00:06:37.09\00:06:39.60 the high priest would come out and place the responsibility 00:06:40.94\00:06:44.86 for sin upon the head of the scapegoat 00:06:44.89\00:06:47.00 there at the entrance in the court of the Sanctuary. 00:06:47.18\00:06:50.66 Now, the ministration in the court was very, very important. 00:06:51.05\00:06:55.54 You have there the altar of sacrifice. 00:06:55.57\00:06:58.18 And according to Revelation chapter 1 and verse 5, 00:06:58.66\00:07:01.98 Jesus loved us and washed us in His blood. 00:07:02.01\00:07:06.31 Notice that the verbs are past. 00:07:06.34\00:07:08.67 So Revelation begins with the past work of Jesus, 00:07:08.77\00:07:11.77 in Revelation 1 verse 5. 00:07:11.87\00:07:13.51 He loved us and He washed us in His blood. 00:07:13.61\00:07:17.96 Past tense. 00:07:18.47\00:07:19.68 So Revelation begins by describing the work of Jesus 00:07:19.71\00:07:23.22 while He was on the earth. 00:07:23.25\00:07:25.11 By the way, Revelation 1:17-18 also amplifies that. 00:07:25.61\00:07:29.87 Because it says that Jesus was the one who was dead 00:07:30.24\00:07:33.66 and yet is alive. 00:07:33.69\00:07:35.04 So see, you have there the death and resurrection of Christ. 00:07:35.07\00:07:38.65 So in chapter 1, you have an allusion to the work of Jesus 00:07:38.91\00:07:43.79 in the court; His death and His resurrection. 00:07:43.82\00:07:46.89 And then of course, we have the ministration of Jesus 00:07:47.42\00:07:51.10 in the Holy Place of the Sanctuary. 00:07:51.13\00:07:53.94 And in Revelation, this takes place during the period 00:07:54.25\00:07:58.95 of the churches, the seals, and the trumpets. 00:07:58.98\00:08:03.02 Now in the church series, we find Jesus walking among 00:08:03.68\00:08:08.73 the seven candlesticks. 00:08:08.76\00:08:10.41 And in heaven, the candlesticks are literal. 00:08:10.65\00:08:13.21 But on earth, the candlesticks have a symbolic value. 00:08:13.95\00:08:17.59 What do the candlesticks represent on earth? 00:08:17.62\00:08:20.45 On earth, they represent the history of the church. 00:08:20.83\00:08:25.65 Not only the literal seven churches in Asia Minor, 00:08:25.85\00:08:28.45 but seven stages in the history of the church universal. 00:08:28.48\00:08:31.74 Isn't that right? 00:08:31.77\00:08:32.96 And you notice that Jesus walks in the midst 00:08:33.12\00:08:38.23 of the seven candlesticks. 00:08:38.26\00:08:39.92 He does that literally in the heavenly Sanctuary, 00:08:39.95\00:08:42.49 but spiritually He walks among the churches here on earth. 00:08:42.69\00:08:47.80 In other words, He walks in the church throughout the 00:08:47.83\00:08:52.16 different stages of church history. 00:08:52.19\00:08:54.25 Now, what is it that the high priest did with the 00:08:54.33\00:08:57.81 candlestick in the Sanctuary? 00:08:57.84\00:08:59.52 Well, you have to go... 00:08:59.90\00:09:01.30 And we're not going to go there because we don't really 00:09:01.33\00:09:03.32 have a lot of time. 00:09:03.35\00:09:04.67 I'll just summarize what we have in our document here. 00:09:04.70\00:09:07.54 The purpose of the high priest, with regards to the 00:09:07.77\00:09:12.02 seven branch candlestick, was to make sure 00:09:12.49\00:09:15.73 that the wicks were long enough to burn, 00:09:15.76\00:09:18.77 and also that the candlestick had a constant supply of oil. 00:09:19.23\00:09:25.01 And of course the high priest, he would walk, so to speak, 00:09:25.66\00:09:29.12 among the candlesticks to make sure that the candlestick 00:09:29.15\00:09:32.86 never ceased giving its light. 00:09:32.97\00:09:36.24 Now, Jesus walks among the candlesticks in heaven. 00:09:37.17\00:09:40.25 He keeps them lighted. 00:09:40.28\00:09:42.18 But what does that represent on earth? 00:09:42.47\00:09:44.71 On earth, it represents the fact that Jesus 00:09:45.10\00:09:47.49 walks throughout the course of church history. 00:09:47.52\00:09:50.03 The seven churches represent all of church history. 00:09:50.13\00:09:52.56 And Jesus walks in the midst of the history of the church 00:09:52.93\00:09:56.50 to make sure that the light of the church never goes out; 00:09:56.70\00:10:00.86 to make sure that there's always a supply of the Holy Spirit, 00:10:01.16\00:10:04.39 to keep the light of the church shining. 00:10:04.59\00:10:07.09 Even in the Dark Ages, the light did not totally go out. 00:10:07.70\00:10:12.31 Because Jesus was walking in the midst of church history 00:10:12.38\00:10:15.96 keeping the lamps lighted. 00:10:15.99\00:10:18.59 The number seven, of course, indicates the totality 00:10:19.69\00:10:23.35 of church history. 00:10:23.38\00:10:24.41 Jesus is in the midst of His church on earth 00:10:24.58\00:10:27.57 during the total period of church history 00:10:27.75\00:10:30.99 from the first century till the end of time. 00:10:31.02\00:10:33.61 So you'll notice here, the key text is 00:10:34.31\00:10:36.81 Leviticus 24 verses 1 through 4 where we are told that the 00:10:36.84\00:10:42.64 high priest was to trim the lamps. 00:10:42.74\00:10:44.69 And he was suppose to do it morning and evening. 00:10:44.72\00:10:47.14 In other words, the lights could never go out. 00:10:47.32\00:10:50.98 The oil represents the Holy Spirit. 00:10:51.27\00:10:53.78 And the light represents the witness that the church 00:10:54.21\00:10:57.21 presents to the world through the agency of the Holy Spirit. 00:10:57.24\00:11:01.15 Jesus makes sure that the oil never runs out 00:11:01.47\00:11:04.57 so that His church can be the light of the world. 00:11:04.77\00:11:08.50 What was the purpose of the giving of the Holy Spirit 00:11:08.84\00:11:10.85 on the day of Pentecost? 00:11:10.88\00:11:11.91 We studied this. 00:11:11.94\00:11:12.97 Was it for personal edification to make you feel good? 00:11:13.08\00:11:16.33 Is that why God gave the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost? 00:11:16.36\00:11:19.61 No. "Ye shall receive power, and you shall be My..." What? 00:11:19.64\00:11:23.37 "...witnesses." 00:11:23.40\00:11:24.43 "You are the light of the world," is what Jesus said. 00:11:24.46\00:11:27.82 And so the purpose of the oil in the lamp is for the 00:11:28.10\00:11:31.30 church to give light. 00:11:31.33\00:11:32.49 And Jesus makes sure that there is always a supply 00:11:32.52\00:11:35.76 of the Holy Spirit to keep the light of the church burning. 00:11:35.79\00:11:39.75 During the Dark Ages, the light of the church 00:11:40.29\00:11:42.42 was on the brink of going out. 00:11:42.45\00:11:44.14 Why do you suppose they're called, the Dark Ages? 00:11:44.55\00:11:46.65 But Jesus did not leave Himself without witness. 00:11:46.94\00:11:51.24 Even in the darkest period of the history of the church, 00:11:51.27\00:11:54.05 the light still shone. 00:11:55.05\00:11:56.61 Notice this statement from Ellen White. 00:11:56.89\00:11:58.79 It's found in, Acts of the Apostles, page 586. 00:11:58.82\00:12:02.02 Beautiful statement about the seven candlesticks. 00:12:02.51\00:12:05.72 She says, "Christ is spoken of as walking in the midst 00:12:05.89\00:12:10.78 of the golden candlesticks. 00:12:10.81\00:12:12.63 Thus is symbolized His relation to the churches. 00:12:13.02\00:12:17.77 He is in constant communication with His people. 00:12:18.47\00:12:21.69 He knows their true state. 00:12:22.07\00:12:24.31 He observes their order, their piety, and their devotion. 00:12:24.62\00:12:29.25 Although He is high priest and mediator in the sanctuary above, 00:12:29.70\00:12:35.81 yet He is represented as walking up and down in the 00:12:36.03\00:12:38.95 midst of His churches on earth." 00:12:38.98\00:12:41.16 You see the principle? 00:12:41.36\00:12:42.68 Jesus is walking in heaven among the literal candlesticks. 00:12:43.27\00:12:46.62 On earth, He walks among the spiritual candlesticks; 00:12:47.33\00:12:51.35 the church in different periods of history. 00:12:51.38\00:12:54.46 She continues saying, "With untiring wakefulness 00:12:55.13\00:12:58.29 and unremitting vigilance, He watches to see 00:12:58.60\00:13:03.01 whether the light of any of His sentinels 00:13:03.04\00:13:05.59 is burning dim or going out. 00:13:05.62\00:13:08.14 If the candlesticks were left to mere human care, 00:13:08.45\00:13:11.97 the flickering flame would languish and die; 00:13:12.17\00:13:15.12 but He is the watchman in the Lord's house, 00:13:15.61\00:13:18.71 and true warden of the temple courts. 00:13:18.74\00:13:21.48 His continued care and sustaining grace 00:13:21.75\00:13:26.27 are the source of life and light." 00:13:26.30\00:13:29.55 Isn't that a beautiful description of what the 00:13:29.76\00:13:31.85 function of Jesus is in the midst of the spiritual 00:13:31.88\00:13:35.08 candlesticks on earth and also as He walks among the 00:13:35.11\00:13:38.30 literal candlesticks in the heavenly Sanctuary? 00:13:38.33\00:13:41.77 So Ellen White wrote about seven candlesticks 00:13:42.33\00:13:45.36 as proof that Jesus is in the Holy Place. 00:13:45.65\00:13:48.98 But she also speaks of the candlesticks 00:13:49.45\00:13:52.12 to prove that Jesus is with His church on earth. 00:13:52.15\00:13:55.58 Is Ellen White speaking out of both sides of her mouth? 00:13:55.85\00:13:59.36 No. 00:13:59.39\00:14:00.53 Not any more than Jesus who said that He was going 00:14:00.56\00:14:03.58 to heaven, to the literal temple, but also promised 00:14:03.61\00:14:06.90 that He would be with His church, the spiritual temple, 00:14:06.93\00:14:10.01 until the end of the world. 00:14:10.04\00:14:11.80 Jesus is literally in heaven, but spiritually on earth 00:14:11.83\00:14:15.80 through the Holy Spirit. 00:14:15.83\00:14:16.87 You understand the principle? 00:14:16.97\00:14:18.44 This is a very important principle in the study 00:14:18.68\00:14:20.75 of Bible prophecy. 00:14:20.78\00:14:22.10 The literal things are in heaven, 00:14:22.13\00:14:24.05 and the spiritual things are on earth. 00:14:24.08\00:14:26.10 In heaven, there's a literal tree of life, literal water, 00:14:26.26\00:14:29.87 there's literal manna, there's... 00:14:29.97\00:14:31.87 Literal. 00:14:32.07\00:14:33.18 The city has literal walls. 00:14:33.87\00:14:35.84 Do you know what the wall is spiritually these days on earth? 00:14:35.87\00:14:38.97 The spiritual wall represents the law of God. 00:14:39.26\00:14:41.97 And a breach has been made in the wall. 00:14:42.94\00:14:45.71 What is the breach in the wall? 00:14:46.40\00:14:48.16 The Sabbath commandment has been removed. 00:14:48.52\00:14:51.25 And so we have to be repairers of the breach. 00:14:51.28\00:14:54.22 In other words, the wall on earth has to reflect 00:14:55.01\00:14:57.53 the wall in heaven. 00:14:57.56\00:14:58.94 And so once again, what is literal in heaven, 00:15:00.28\00:15:03.48 the literal Ten Commandments, represents the wall on earth, 00:15:03.51\00:15:08.07 spiritually speaking. 00:15:08.17\00:15:09.76 Now we move to the next section, which is the seals. 00:15:10.17\00:15:12.58 We've spoken about Jesus among the candlesticks 00:15:12.61\00:15:14.81 in Revelation 1 through 3 with regards to the churches. 00:15:15.60\00:15:18.86 Now we need to move on to the seals. 00:15:18.96\00:15:21.29 And of course, Jesus, during the period of the seals, 00:15:21.47\00:15:25.09 is at the table of the showbread. 00:15:25.12\00:15:27.61 Now what does bread represent? 00:15:28.50\00:15:30.53 You know this. 00:15:31.56\00:15:32.66 Bread represents the Word of God. 00:15:32.69\00:15:34.69 "Man shall not live by bread alone, 00:15:34.72\00:15:37.57 but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God." 00:15:37.60\00:15:40.70 "The words that I speak, they are spirit 00:15:40.73\00:15:43.33 and they are life," Jesus said. 00:15:43.36\00:15:45.50 And so, the bread represents the Word of God. 00:15:46.17\00:15:50.65 Now the bread is called, the bread of the Presence. 00:15:51.15\00:15:53.76 It was always on the table. 00:15:53.79\00:15:55.84 In other words, it was continually there. 00:15:56.27\00:15:59.10 There was never a time when the table did not have 00:15:59.53\00:16:02.82 the twelve loaves of bread; representing the fact 00:16:02.85\00:16:05.61 that God provides for all of Israel's needs. 00:16:05.64\00:16:09.27 Twelve loaves of bread representing the twelve tribes, 00:16:09.46\00:16:12.22 the twelve apostles, and everybody that descends 00:16:12.25\00:16:15.22 from them or comes into the church as a result 00:16:15.25\00:16:18.36 of their work. 00:16:18.39\00:16:19.50 Now during the period of papal dominion, 00:16:19.75\00:16:22.31 the Word of God was scarce. 00:16:22.67\00:16:24.91 But it never totally disappeared because Jesus made sure 00:16:25.48\00:16:30.35 that there was bread on the table. 00:16:30.38\00:16:32.75 The table of showbread represents the throne of God 00:16:33.78\00:16:37.86 in the Holy Place for the following reasons... 00:16:37.89\00:16:40.74 Some people think that the throne of God was always 00:16:40.77\00:16:43.33 only in the Most Holy Place. 00:16:43.36\00:16:45.04 Not so. 00:16:45.07\00:16:46.18 God has a throne in the Holy Place too. 00:16:46.89\00:16:49.26 If you don't believe that, you know, just read Revelation 3:21 00:16:49.86\00:16:54.36 where Jesus says, "He who overcomes, I will grant to 00:16:54.39\00:16:56.65 sit with Me on My throne, as I overcame and sat 00:16:56.68\00:16:59.67 with My Father on His throne." 00:16:59.70\00:17:01.21 And then you go to Daniel chapter 7. 00:17:02.05\00:17:03.99 And you find in Daniel chapter 7 that the Father moves. 00:17:04.02\00:17:08.32 And then the chariot that took the Father to where He went, 00:17:09.86\00:17:13.53 it comes back and it picks up Jesus, the Son of Man. 00:17:13.56\00:17:17.08 And then the chariot moves Jesus to where the Father was. 00:17:17.11\00:17:21.44 And of course, where were they moved to? 00:17:21.93\00:17:24.60 They were moved to the Most Holy Place because that's 00:17:25.16\00:17:27.95 where the judgment is going to take place. 00:17:27.98\00:17:29.76 It says, the judgment sat and the books were opened. 00:17:29.79\00:17:32.27 So let me ask you, do you have to be a rocket scientist 00:17:32.30\00:17:34.84 to figure out that if they went into the Most Holy Place 00:17:34.87\00:17:37.51 for the judgment, before that they must have been in the Holy? 00:17:37.54\00:17:40.79 Did God have a throne in the Holy Place? 00:17:43.35\00:17:45.64 Absolutely. 00:17:45.67\00:17:46.94 That's where God the Father and His Son Jesus were until 1844. 00:17:47.04\00:17:51.80 And then in 1844, the Father moved into the Most Holy first, 00:17:51.83\00:17:55.99 and then Jesus moved into the Most Holy Place afterwards 00:17:56.02\00:17:59.30 to begin the work of judgment. 00:17:59.33\00:18:00.87 Daniel 7 makes that absolutely clear. 00:18:00.90\00:18:04.05 Are you with me? 00:18:04.15\00:18:05.18 Now, how do we know that the table of the showbread 00:18:05.61\00:18:10.25 represents the throne of God? 00:18:10.28\00:18:12.79 Well, I have several reasons here that I'm going to read. 00:18:13.78\00:18:16.86 Number one, the throne of God is in the sides of the north. 00:18:17.60\00:18:21.48 Where was the table of showbread in the Sanctuary 00:18:22.37\00:18:24.87 in the Holy Place? 00:18:24.90\00:18:26.21 It was on the north side. 00:18:26.31\00:18:28.36 The Hebrew expression, "lechem panim," 00:18:29.03\00:18:32.20 is better translated, the bread of the Presence. 00:18:32.88\00:18:36.45 We call it, the showbread. 00:18:36.69\00:18:37.89 But a better translation is, the bread of the Presence. 00:18:37.92\00:18:40.82 The word, "panim," means, person, face, or presence. 00:18:41.26\00:18:46.69 So in other words, the name of the bread itself 00:18:47.55\00:18:51.52 reflects the fact that in the bread you have reflected 00:18:51.96\00:18:55.41 the face or the countenance or persons involved. 00:18:55.44\00:18:59.56 In other words, the bread represents persons. 00:18:59.66\00:19:02.11 And of course, through the persons it also represents 00:19:02.14\00:19:05.84 the Word of God, the written Word of God. 00:19:06.04\00:19:08.76 Now the table of showbread was the only item of furniture, 00:19:09.12\00:19:13.02 that was surrounded by two crowns. 00:19:13.49\00:19:15.88 Interesting. 00:19:16.49\00:19:17.73 Exodus 37:10-12, you can read that. 00:19:17.76\00:19:20.68 The altar of incense and the ark of the covenant 00:19:20.88\00:19:23.48 had only one crown. 00:19:23.72\00:19:25.58 Now why would the table of showbread have two crowns? 00:19:26.34\00:19:29.27 Why would it have two stacks of bread? 00:19:29.30\00:19:31.84 Because you're dealing with two people. 00:19:32.49\00:19:34.95 You're dealing with two individuals. 00:19:35.16\00:19:37.06 There were two stacks of bread on the table. 00:19:37.66\00:19:40.09 This reflects the fact that when Jesus ascended to His Father, 00:19:40.12\00:19:43.72 He sat with His Father on His throne. 00:19:43.75\00:19:45.97 See, there are two on the throne. 00:19:46.00\00:19:47.77 And both of them provide for the material needs of their people. 00:19:47.80\00:19:52.97 The next point is that during the third seal, 00:19:54.06\00:19:56.74 this is a very important point, during the third seal 00:19:56.77\00:20:00.23 there is a scarcity, or a famine, for what? 00:20:00.56\00:20:06.97 There is a famine for Sanctuary bread, 00:20:07.34\00:20:09.83 which leads to the death under the fourth seal. 00:20:10.36\00:20:13.24 So why would the seals talk about a scarcity of bread? 00:20:13.70\00:20:17.32 In other words, grain is extremely expensive 00:20:17.35\00:20:20.32 during the period of the third seal, 00:20:20.35\00:20:22.53 and it brings death in the fourth seal. 00:20:22.56\00:20:24.34 It's because there's a scarcity of what? 00:20:24.37\00:20:27.04 There's a scarcity of showbread. 00:20:27.07\00:20:29.09 It's not totally gone, but it's very expensive. 00:20:29.19\00:20:32.50 During the Dark Ages, was the Word of God pretty expensive 00:20:33.04\00:20:35.90 and hard to find? 00:20:35.93\00:20:37.18 Oh yes it was. 00:20:37.47\00:20:38.84 Ellen White, furthermore, makes it very clear 00:20:39.33\00:20:42.76 that the Father and the Son were both seated on a throne 00:20:43.20\00:20:47.50 in the Holy Place until 1844. 00:20:47.53\00:20:50.99 The only piece of furniture in the Holy Place 00:20:51.57\00:20:53.82 that can be interpreted as the throne is the 00:20:53.85\00:20:56.40 table of the showbread, for the reasons that I mentioned. 00:20:56.43\00:20:59.22 So during the period of the seals, Jesus is where? 00:20:59.25\00:21:02.97 Jesus is at the table of the showbread. 00:21:03.17\00:21:06.84 And what is He doing with the bread? 00:21:07.04\00:21:08.84 He's making sure that there is always a supply of fresh bread 00:21:08.87\00:21:13.38 for His church. 00:21:13.41\00:21:14.54 Now, were there times during the seals when 00:21:14.64\00:21:17.05 bread was quite scarce? 00:21:17.08\00:21:18.60 Oh yes, very scarce. Very expensive. 00:21:18.63\00:21:22.60 And yet, it never totally disappeared. 00:21:22.97\00:21:25.78 Jesus always sustained His church. 00:21:25.88\00:21:27.99 He, for example, used the Waldenses 00:21:28.50\00:21:32.04 who copied little pieces of Scripture on parchment. 00:21:32.07\00:21:36.63 And they were, you know, they traveled 00:21:36.82\00:21:40.22 and they were sales people. 00:21:40.25\00:21:41.67 And they would give these little parchments of Scripture 00:21:41.70\00:21:44.44 to their clients. 00:21:44.47\00:21:45.70 In other words, the Word of God was preserved. 00:21:45.73\00:21:47.98 There was always bread, even though it was quite expensive 00:21:48.01\00:21:51.50 and scarce. 00:21:51.53\00:21:53.37 And then during the series of the trumpets 00:21:53.78\00:21:56.60 Jesus moves to the altar of incense. 00:21:56.86\00:21:58.95 That's the introductory Sanctuary scene. 00:21:58.98\00:22:01.39 Now, at the altar of incense, Jesus receives 00:22:02.07\00:22:05.87 the prayer of His saints. 00:22:05.90\00:22:07.57 We've already studied that. 00:22:07.60\00:22:09.05 Let me ask you, during the period of papal dominion, 00:22:09.36\00:22:12.38 did the papacy take over the function of Jesus 00:22:15.46\00:22:18.65 at the altar of incense? 00:22:18.68\00:22:20.29 Who were people taught to pray to? 00:22:22.62\00:22:25.04 Mary. 00:22:25.72\00:22:26.85 To pray to the saints. 00:22:27.23\00:22:28.90 And the ministration of Jesus was cast to the ground. 00:22:29.38\00:22:32.59 So are you seeing that all of this also relates 00:22:34.20\00:22:36.70 to the Dark Ages? 00:22:36.73\00:22:38.13 During the Dark Ages the light flickered, 00:22:38.79\00:22:41.22 but it did not go totally out. 00:22:41.32\00:22:43.00 The bread was very expensive, 00:22:43.39\00:22:45.77 but it did not totally disappear. 00:22:45.80\00:22:48.25 Jesus interceded at the altar of incense on earth. 00:22:48.95\00:22:52.38 This was blurred by the papacy. 00:22:52.67\00:22:54.92 Because they said, "Oh no, the priest has to intercede for you. 00:22:54.95\00:22:57.68 Mary has to intercede for you. 00:22:57.71\00:22:59.61 The saints have to intercede for you." 00:22:59.64\00:23:01.50 But the intercession of Jesus never totally disappeared. 00:23:01.53\00:23:05.56 He was still there to intercede for His people. 00:23:05.76\00:23:09.05 To a great degree, the people lost sight of Jesus 00:23:10.72\00:23:13.12 as the intercessor. 00:23:13.15\00:23:14.54 Incidentally, this is the taking away of the daily. 00:23:14.84\00:23:17.46 The daily means the continual function 00:23:18.58\00:23:22.32 of Jesus in the Holy Place. 00:23:22.35\00:23:23.95 And do you know something interesting? 00:23:23.98\00:23:25.59 The word, "daily," or, "tamid," in the Hebrew, 00:23:25.80\00:23:29.65 is used for the table of showbread, 00:23:30.15\00:23:32.65 it is used for the lamps, and it is used also 00:23:33.20\00:23:37.78 for the altar of incense. 00:23:37.81\00:23:39.61 In other words, the altar of incense is called, 00:23:39.85\00:23:42.17 the tamid incense. 00:23:42.20\00:23:44.23 The bread is called, the tamid bread. 00:23:44.65\00:23:47.09 And the candlestick is called, the tamid candlestick. 00:23:47.39\00:23:51.29 So the papacy messed with all three of these. 00:23:51.73\00:23:54.91 Instead of the Word of God, it substituted tradition. 00:23:55.27\00:23:58.68 Instead of being the light, it brought darkness. 00:23:59.07\00:24:01.90 And instead of point at Jesus as the intercessor, 00:24:01.93\00:24:04.88 it established human intercessors. 00:24:04.98\00:24:07.85 That's what it means, they took away the daily. 00:24:07.88\00:24:09.89 They took away the ministration. 00:24:09.92\00:24:11.31 The word, "daily," means, the continual 00:24:11.34\00:24:13.40 ministration of Christ. 00:24:13.43\00:24:14.94 In fact, the Spanish version says, 00:24:14.97\00:24:16.76 instead of saying, "daily," it says, "continuo." 00:24:16.79\00:24:19.80 The continual ministration of Christ in the Sanctuary 00:24:20.24\00:24:22.98 was taken and placed on the earth instead of pointing people 00:24:23.08\00:24:27.64 to the ministration of Christ in heaven. 00:24:27.67\00:24:29.81 And then Jesus moves into the Most Holy Place. 00:24:31.02\00:24:33.32 Following along here in our document. 00:24:33.35\00:24:35.34 Revelation 11:19 to 14:20. 00:24:35.96\00:24:38.98 And the Most Holy Place opens in 11:19 for the 00:24:39.46\00:24:43.03 beginning of the judgment. 00:24:43.06\00:24:44.50 The ark of the covenant is seen. 00:24:44.53\00:24:46.47 And the ark of the covenant contained what? 00:24:47.12\00:24:49.99 The law of God. 00:24:50.22\00:24:51.45 Where did the Day of Atonement transpire? 00:24:51.55\00:24:54.25 In the Most Holy Place. 00:24:54.67\00:24:56.17 So you know this is taking place in the Most Holy Place. 00:24:56.20\00:24:59.45 Now isn't it interesting that when the temple opens in heaven, 00:24:59.55\00:25:03.61 when the Most Holy Place opens, is there suppose to be 00:25:03.71\00:25:06.95 an announcement on earth that the temple in heaven has begun 00:25:06.98\00:25:10.84 the service of the Day of Atonement? Of course. 00:25:11.04\00:25:13.62 Where's that announcement found where the book of Revelation 00:25:13.65\00:25:16.98 says that the judgment has begun? 00:25:17.01\00:25:19.47 The first angel's message. 00:25:20.01\00:25:21.60 Was that proclaimed by the Millerites leading up to 1844? 00:25:21.97\00:25:24.98 Yes, besides Daniel 8:14, the other most famous text 00:25:25.26\00:25:29.82 that the Millerites quoted was Revelation 14 verse 7. 00:25:29.85\00:25:34.36 "Fear God and give glory to Him, 00:25:34.39\00:25:36.54 for the hour of His judgment is come." 00:25:36.57\00:25:39.57 So in other words, 00:25:39.88\00:25:42.56 speaks about the opening of the temple in heaven, 00:25:42.59\00:25:44.89 of the Most Holy Place, and the first angel 00:25:44.92\00:25:47.34 proclaims on earth, "Hey, the judgment has begun 00:25:47.37\00:25:50.76 in the heavenly Sanctuary." 00:25:50.79\00:25:52.41 So in Revelation 11:19, you have the heavenly event; 00:25:52.77\00:25:56.79 the opening of the Sanctuary. 00:25:56.82\00:25:58.32 And on earth, in Revelation 14:6-7, 00:25:58.35\00:26:00.90 you have the earthly announcement 00:26:00.93\00:26:02.35 of the heavenly event. 00:26:02.38\00:26:03.93 And then you move on. 00:26:04.42\00:26:05.80 Revelation 15 verses 5 through 8. 00:26:05.83\00:26:08.84 This is what we mentioned in our previous study. 00:26:09.18\00:26:12.32 And that is, that the ministration 00:26:12.35\00:26:14.12 in the Sanctuary ceases. 00:26:14.15\00:26:16.52 The door to the Most Holy Place opens. 00:26:17.24\00:26:19.48 Yes, it opens. 00:26:19.51\00:26:21.07 But it doesn't open to let people in. 00:26:21.10\00:26:23.57 It opens to let the plague angels out. 00:26:24.09\00:26:27.23 And no one can enter the temple anymore until 00:26:27.91\00:26:30.56 the seven last plagues have been poured out, 00:26:30.59\00:26:32.86 because intercession has ceased. 00:26:32.89\00:26:35.57 When the Day of Atonement was over, 00:26:36.54\00:26:38.29 was intercession over for Israel? 00:26:38.67\00:26:40.97 It most certainly was. 00:26:41.00\00:26:42.56 During this period, God's people will have to live 00:26:42.83\00:26:45.48 in the sight of a holy God without a mediator. 00:26:45.51\00:26:48.65 The temple is opened so that the angels can come out, 00:26:49.16\00:26:52.21 not so people can go in. 00:26:52.69\00:26:54.46 The parallel with Noah's day is impressive. 00:26:54.94\00:26:57.90 Preaching with the power of the Holy Spirit, 00:26:58.27\00:27:00.48 the closing of the door, the time of trouble and testing, 00:27:00.90\00:27:04.39 destruction, Satan bound on desolate planet, 00:27:04.69\00:27:08.12 and the world cleansed from sin and sinners; 00:27:08.15\00:27:10.09 all of those are parallels from the days of Noah 00:27:10.12\00:27:13.67 that point forward to the time when probation closes, 00:27:13.70\00:27:17.49 when the door closes. 00:27:17.52\00:27:19.07 And then next, in Revelation 16 verse 1 through 18:24, 00:27:19.56\00:27:25.54 we have plagues. 00:27:25.74\00:27:27.46 Who pours out the plagues? 00:27:28.29\00:27:30.35 The angels. 00:27:31.08\00:27:32.15 See, in Revelation 15 the temple closes. 00:27:32.18\00:27:35.20 It's filled with smoke. 00:27:35.30\00:27:36.60 No one can enter. 00:27:36.63\00:27:37.77 In other words, you don't have an intercessor anymore. 00:27:37.80\00:27:40.24 And then beginning in chapter 16 through the end of chapter 18, 00:27:40.50\00:27:44.32 the plagues are poured out. 00:27:44.35\00:27:45.65 Because this is the time of tribulation. 00:27:46.47\00:27:48.53 This is the time of trouble. 00:27:48.63\00:27:50.47 And as I mentioned this morning, the plagues 00:27:51.06\00:27:53.20 come from the Most Holy Place. 00:27:53.23\00:27:54.78 Because the angels come out of the Most Holy Place. 00:27:55.36\00:27:58.27 They come out of the temple, out of the naos. 00:27:58.30\00:28:00.82 In other words, they come out of the Most Holy Place 00:28:00.85\00:28:02.86 of the Sanctuary to pour out the plagues. 00:28:02.89\00:28:05.95 And as in the Old Testament, the plagues came from 00:28:06.28\00:28:09.41 the ark of the covenant because the Philistines 00:28:09.44\00:28:11.90 were trampling on God's law. 00:28:11.93\00:28:13.22 They were the uncircumcised Philistines. 00:28:13.25\00:28:15.47 In the same way, the sinful world will receive 00:28:15.64\00:28:20.00 the retribution for their sins, and it will come from 00:28:20.14\00:28:22.72 the Most Holy Place directly from the ark of the covenant. 00:28:22.75\00:28:26.46 And then in chapter 19 verses 1 through 10, 00:28:27.53\00:28:30.39 you have God's people victorious in heaven. 00:28:30.68\00:28:32.95 God's people are there after the plagues. 00:28:33.61\00:28:36.07 They're singing, they're praising the Lord. 00:28:36.10\00:28:38.13 The people are clothed in white garments 00:28:38.57\00:28:40.47 because they have been cleansed on the Day of Atonement. 00:28:40.67\00:28:43.15 So in Revelation 19, you have the victory celebration 00:28:43.76\00:28:46.82 after God's people have come forth victorious. 00:28:46.85\00:28:50.00 And then you have in Revelation chapter 20:1-3 00:28:50.28\00:28:54.38 the scapegoat ceremony. 00:28:54.41\00:28:55.79 Let me ask you, is Revelation following the exact order 00:28:55.82\00:28:58.68 of the Hebrew Sanctuary? 00:28:58.71\00:29:00.30 I mean, how can you understand Revelation without understanding 00:29:01.10\00:29:03.81 the Sanctuary? 00:29:03.84\00:29:04.91 It follows the identical sequence of the Sanctuary. 00:29:04.94\00:29:08.53 So in Revelation 20:1-3, you have the scapegoat ceremony. 00:29:08.93\00:29:12.55 Satan is bound by a mighty angel in a desolate 00:29:12.58\00:29:17.46 and uninhabited earth. 00:29:17.49\00:29:19.07 For how long? 00:29:19.10\00:29:20.23 For one thousand years. 00:29:20.26\00:29:23.22 And what will God's people be doing during 00:29:23.74\00:29:26.00 those thousand years? 00:29:26.03\00:29:27.48 God's people will be in heaven. 00:29:27.81\00:29:31.08 And what will they be doing in heaven? 00:29:32.11\00:29:34.12 In heaven, they will be opening the books 00:29:35.48\00:29:39.47 to see the records of those who were left behind. 00:29:39.50\00:29:42.78 Satan, his angels, as well as the wicked. 00:29:43.02\00:29:47.16 Now are you aware that the judgment has three phases, 00:29:47.67\00:29:51.30 the judgment has three different stages? 00:29:51.33\00:29:54.50 There is a pre-advent investigative stage. 00:29:55.25\00:29:58.20 And that is for those who profess the name of Christ. 00:29:58.65\00:30:02.02 Then you have the millennial stage, 00:30:02.87\00:30:05.13 which is a stage that takes place with God's people 00:30:05.65\00:30:09.79 in heaven examining the records of those who were left behind; 00:30:09.82\00:30:13.12 the reason why they were left behind. 00:30:13.15\00:30:14.79 God wants to reveal to the universe why these people 00:30:14.82\00:30:17.73 were not brought to heaven. 00:30:17.76\00:30:18.97 And then amazingly, after the thousand years, 00:30:19.37\00:30:22.35 those same books are opened all over again. 00:30:22.38\00:30:24.80 You find that in Revelation chapter 20. 00:30:26.09\00:30:27.94 We'll take a look at that when we study the literary structure 00:30:27.97\00:30:31.46 of Revelation 12 through 22 later on. 00:30:31.66\00:30:34.08 But in Revelation chapter 20, particularly verses 11 and 12, 00:30:34.28\00:30:39.96 you find that those books that were looked at during 00:30:39.99\00:30:42.75 the thousand years will be opened and they will be 00:30:42.78\00:30:45.58 shown to Satan, his angels, and the wicked 00:30:45.61\00:30:48.61 after the thousand years. 00:30:48.64\00:30:50.45 So when God finishes His three stages of judgment; 00:30:51.10\00:30:54.57 the pre-advent judgment, the millennial judgment, 00:30:54.60\00:30:57.14 and the post millennial judgment, 00:30:57.17\00:30:58.84 the whole universe will be on the same page. 00:30:58.94\00:31:01.38 You see, the pre-advent judgment, the purpose is 00:31:02.02\00:31:04.82 to reveal to the heavenly intelligences that Jesus 00:31:05.02\00:31:08.06 has the right to take a certain group of people 00:31:08.09\00:31:10.67 with Him to heaven. 00:31:10.70\00:31:11.87 That's why He deals only with the righteous 00:31:12.49\00:31:14.67 before the second coming. 00:31:14.70\00:31:16.91 He doesn't have to judge the wicked, because 00:31:17.34\00:31:19.09 they're going to be left behind. 00:31:19.12\00:31:20.43 But He has to reveal before His second coming 00:31:20.93\00:31:23.80 who is worthy of being taken there. 00:31:24.05\00:31:26.61 That's why it's only the righteous 00:31:27.39\00:31:28.83 before the second coming. 00:31:28.86\00:31:30.29 Because at the second coming, He's going to reward them. 00:31:30.32\00:31:32.68 But before He rewards them, He has to reveal 00:31:32.78\00:31:36.10 what their reward is. 00:31:36.13\00:31:37.70 During the millennium, who is going to be convinced that 00:31:38.65\00:31:41.53 God acted correctly in every single case of those 00:31:41.56\00:31:44.85 who were left behind? 00:31:44.88\00:31:46.04 Not only the intelligences of the universe, but God's people. 00:31:46.30\00:31:50.02 Because there's going to be some people there that we 00:31:50.22\00:31:52.47 thought we could take it to the bank 00:31:52.50\00:31:53.67 that they would be there, and they're not going to be there. 00:31:53.70\00:31:55.64 And there are other people that are there that we 00:31:56.29\00:31:58.27 would have never believed would make it. 00:31:58.30\00:32:00.00 And so God is going to open up the books, 00:32:00.43\00:32:02.13 He's going to say, "Here, folks, let Me show you why 00:32:02.16\00:32:05.27 those people who are here are here. 00:32:06.51\00:32:09.52 And let me show you why those who are down there 00:32:09.89\00:32:13.08 who were left behind are not here." 00:32:13.11\00:32:15.11 And when we examine the records, we're going to find that God 00:32:16.51\00:32:19.91 did everything absolutely just right. 00:32:19.94\00:32:23.10 Don't think that when we're examining the records, 00:32:24.23\00:32:26.23 you know, we're going to say, "Uh-ho, Lord, You missed one. 00:32:26.66\00:32:29.75 You've got to bring him up here." 00:32:30.17\00:32:31.20 No, no, no, no. 00:32:31.23\00:32:32.26 God, in the pre-advent judgment, reveals who 00:32:33.04\00:32:36.35 He is going to take with Him. 00:32:36.38\00:32:37.49 When probation closes, His kingdom is made up. 00:32:37.63\00:32:40.22 Because His kingdom is made up of people. 00:32:40.90\00:32:43.32 We think of the kingdom in terms of geographical territory. 00:32:44.18\00:32:47.24 No. The kingdom is His people. 00:32:47.27\00:32:49.26 And so He has to reveal who His people are 00:32:50.08\00:32:53.19 before the second coming, because He's going to come 00:32:53.22\00:32:55.29 to take them with Him. 00:32:55.32\00:32:56.49 He's going to take His kingdom with Him to heaven. 00:32:56.66\00:32:59.24 And then during the millennium, you know, He's going to show 00:32:59.75\00:33:02.91 His people, and the inhabitants of the worlds, and the angels, 00:33:02.94\00:33:06.47 and everybody in heaven, He's going to show that 00:33:06.50\00:33:08.25 He was right in leaving all those people behind. 00:33:08.28\00:33:10.80 Who still remains to be convinced? 00:33:12.36\00:33:14.68 The wicked. 00:33:16.63\00:33:17.85 The wicked need to be convinced why they were left behind. 00:33:18.42\00:33:21.18 And the devil and his angels need to admit 00:33:21.89\00:33:25.80 that God acted right. 00:33:25.83\00:33:27.07 So what is God going to do? 00:33:27.10\00:33:28.53 After the thousand years, He's going to open the books again. 00:33:28.72\00:33:31.35 The same books that we examined during the millennium. 00:33:31.38\00:33:33.64 And Ellen White says that in panoramic view 00:33:34.60\00:33:38.04 God is going to re-enact the entire history of the world. 00:33:38.51\00:33:42.31 Beginning with Adam in the Garden of Eden, she says, 00:33:43.11\00:33:47.07 and ending at the very end of time. 00:33:47.65\00:33:49.29 We're going to see exactly the way it happened. 00:33:49.39\00:33:51.82 Now that is really something, when you really think about it. 00:33:52.85\00:33:56.69 You know, how God retrieves the entire history of the world. 00:33:56.72\00:34:00.92 Every single little detail. 00:34:00.95\00:34:02.60 I mean, that's the type of technology 00:34:03.45\00:34:04.87 that we don't understand. 00:34:04.90\00:34:06.73 I mean, God has a record of everything. 00:34:07.16\00:34:09.83 And the wicked are going to see it, 00:34:09.93\00:34:12.35 and the devil and his angels are going to see it. 00:34:12.38\00:34:14.61 And God's people are going to see it. 00:34:15.27\00:34:17.26 It's going to be seen above the city. 00:34:17.29\00:34:19.38 And every person is going to see a record of their lives, 00:34:20.35\00:34:23.29 and the opportunities that they received, 00:34:23.56\00:34:25.68 and how they rejected the opportunities of salvation. 00:34:25.97\00:34:29.90 And the climax of the great controversy is, 00:34:30.87\00:34:32.85 after everybody has seen their case... 00:34:32.88\00:34:34.57 Up till this point Satan has rallied all of the wicked 00:34:35.18\00:34:37.98 because he wants the wicked to attack the holy city. 00:34:38.29\00:34:41.41 And in fact, Ellen White says that powerful weapons 00:34:41.69\00:34:45.04 of warfare are created. 00:34:45.07\00:34:47.38 She also strongly hints that there's going to be 00:34:47.98\00:34:51.41 military training. 00:34:51.61\00:34:52.98 Because when they're ready to attack the city, 00:34:53.01\00:34:55.28 she says that they march across the surface of the earth 00:34:55.45\00:34:58.89 with military precision. 00:34:58.92\00:35:01.04 They're not going to storm the city, 00:35:01.84\00:35:03.54 they are going to be organized militarily. 00:35:04.05\00:35:06.80 And she says that the number of the troops is greater 00:35:07.76\00:35:11.72 than all of the military personnel that has served 00:35:11.75\00:35:14.80 in every war in the history of planet earth. 00:35:14.83\00:35:17.49 And that's why Revelation says, 00:35:18.08\00:35:19.64 they will be like the sand of the sea. 00:35:19.67\00:35:21.91 And they will advance toward the city, 00:35:22.44\00:35:23.95 they will surround the city. 00:35:23.98\00:35:25.28 God will show them that they had the opportunity 00:35:25.39\00:35:28.50 to be saved, and they rejected the opportunity. 00:35:28.53\00:35:31.23 And then their rage will shift. 00:35:31.54\00:35:35.48 See, the same thing that happened in the days of Esther. 00:35:37.30\00:35:40.21 The same thing that happened to Daniel 00:35:41.25\00:35:43.51 when he was thrown in the lion's den; 00:35:44.54\00:35:46.17 the enemies were thrown in. 00:35:46.20\00:35:47.90 The same thing that happened during the French Revolution. 00:35:48.14\00:35:51.05 Those who supported the papacy turned against her. 00:35:51.66\00:35:54.40 The same thing that happened with the Jewish nation. 00:35:55.08\00:35:58.71 The Romans that they asked to crucify Christ 00:35:59.24\00:36:03.66 then turned against them. 00:36:03.76\00:36:05.37 The same thing will happen as the multitudes 00:36:06.61\00:36:09.67 turning against their ministers during the sixth plague; 00:36:09.70\00:36:12.63 the drying up of the waters. 00:36:12.66\00:36:14.26 But this time it's going to happen with 00:36:14.66\00:36:16.02 the devil and his angels. 00:36:16.05\00:36:17.53 You know, usually we have this myth that the city is going to, 00:36:18.05\00:36:20.94 that the wicked are going to be destroyed 00:36:20.97\00:36:22.37 when they're attacking the city. 00:36:22.40\00:36:23.57 The wicked never attack the city. 00:36:23.60\00:36:25.65 The wicked, and the devil and his angels, 00:36:27.18\00:36:29.03 they are totally prepared to attack the city, 00:36:29.13\00:36:31.87 and then they see that panoramic view above the city. 00:36:31.90\00:36:34.87 And they realize that they're lost because of the ole devil 00:36:34.90\00:36:38.81 and because of their own choices. 00:36:38.84\00:36:40.37 And she says that at that point... 00:36:40.95\00:36:42.25 And this is found in Ezekiel chapter 28 verses 1 through 10. 00:36:42.28\00:36:45.30 That's the biblical foundation. 00:36:45.40\00:36:46.80 She says that they now turn towards the devil, they say, 00:36:46.96\00:36:50.45 "You are a liar. 00:36:50.48\00:36:53.23 And you are to blame." 00:36:53.74\00:36:55.48 Of course, they're to blame because they made the choices. 00:36:56.82\00:36:59.22 But they're going to blame the devil, they're going to say, 00:36:59.25\00:37:00.75 "You are to blame. God isn't to blame. 00:37:00.78\00:37:02.87 God acted right." 00:37:02.96\00:37:04.62 Every knee will bow. 00:37:05.10\00:37:06.69 And every tongue will confess that God acted right. 00:37:07.08\00:37:10.98 The devil himself will have to kneel and admit that 00:37:11.01\00:37:14.70 God is love and that God is perfectly just. 00:37:14.73\00:37:18.04 And then the wicked will avalanche themselves 00:37:19.12\00:37:21.12 against the devil and his angels. 00:37:21.15\00:37:22.77 And fire will descend from heaven and then will consume 00:37:24.01\00:37:27.50 the devil, his angels, and the wicked. 00:37:27.53\00:37:29.66 Does God convince the devil, and his angels, and the wicked 00:37:30.76\00:37:33.42 that He acted right? 00:37:33.45\00:37:34.74 Listen, only when all the universe agrees that God 00:37:35.42\00:37:39.71 was right is God able to destroy sin and sinners 00:37:39.82\00:37:44.66 without any loose ends. 00:37:44.69\00:37:46.19 When sin is eradicated from the universe, 00:37:47.05\00:37:50.21 there will be no loose ends. 00:37:50.43\00:37:52.30 The whole universe, loyal and disloyal, 00:37:53.21\00:37:57.37 will openly and audibly confess that God is love, God is just, 00:37:57.85\00:38:04.68 and that they're lost because of their own choices. 00:38:04.94\00:38:08.33 You know, there's no church in the world that has this view 00:38:09.58\00:38:11.75 except the Adventist church. 00:38:11.78\00:38:13.23 And do you know why? 00:38:13.63\00:38:14.81 Because people don't understand the Sanctuary. 00:38:15.08\00:38:17.25 You ask Christians, you say, "Why did Jesus 00:38:18.00\00:38:19.95 come to this world?" 00:38:19.98\00:38:21.01 They say, "Oh, so that He could save me." 00:38:21.04\00:38:23.25 Yeah, that too. 00:38:24.92\00:38:26.13 That too. 00:38:26.52\00:38:27.62 But the primary reason for Jesus coming to this world 00:38:27.97\00:38:30.69 was not to save us. 00:38:30.72\00:38:34.29 And you say, "What do you mean? 00:38:35.31\00:38:36.69 His primary reason wasn't to save us?" 00:38:36.72\00:38:38.71 No, His primary reason was that in saving us, 00:38:38.74\00:38:42.58 He would vindicate the character of God before the universe. 00:38:42.61\00:38:45.76 In other words, there's a greater purpose. 00:38:45.99\00:38:47.74 The security of the universe is at stake. 00:38:47.77\00:38:50.56 Not only the salvation of people on this earth. 00:38:51.09\00:38:53.44 But the security, the eternal security, 00:38:53.61\00:38:56.10 of the universe depends on everybody seeing the issues 00:38:56.30\00:39:00.46 and everybody seeing that God acted correctly 00:39:00.62\00:39:03.15 in every single case. 00:39:03.18\00:39:05.50 I can respect a God like that. 00:39:05.93\00:39:08.73 And then we have the consummation here. 00:39:11.19\00:39:13.30 The tabernacle of God will then be with men. 00:39:14.75\00:39:17.72 And He will dwell with them. 00:39:18.87\00:39:20.72 Revelation 21 and 22 presents God's people 00:39:21.79\00:39:24.64 in the New Jerusalem in the earth made new. 00:39:24.67\00:39:27.84 So Revelation, folks, presents in their proper chronological 00:39:29.53\00:39:34.86 order the functions of the ministration of Jesus 00:39:34.89\00:39:37.84 in the Sanctuary. 00:39:37.87\00:39:39.16 And if we include the camp, of course, there's five. 00:39:39.19\00:39:42.03 But it presents Jesus as the Lamb, as the High Priest 00:39:42.23\00:39:46.40 or Intercessor, as the Judge, and as the King. 00:39:46.43\00:39:50.01 And of course, it must be remembered, however, 00:39:51.02\00:39:53.14 that, The Desire Of Ages, pages 19 to 697, 00:39:53.17\00:39:57.40 portrays the work of Jesus in the Sanctuary camp. 00:39:57.43\00:40:00.20 On pages 698 to 828, we have His work in the court. 00:40:00.82\00:40:04.88 And then on pages 829 to 836, you have the ascension of Jesus 00:40:05.41\00:40:09.57 to the Holy Place. 00:40:09.60\00:40:10.89 So that's how you need to look at the book, Desire Of Ages. 00:40:10.99\00:40:13.96 It is important to link John 14:1-3, 00:40:14.58\00:40:18.65 and also actually all of chapter 14 through 17, 00:40:19.79\00:40:23.77 with the book of Revelation. 00:40:23.80\00:40:25.43 In Revelation, and also the book of Hebrews, 00:40:25.74\00:40:28.37 the emphasis falls upon the heavenly work which 00:40:28.56\00:40:32.18 Jesus performs in order to prepare a place for His people. 00:40:32.21\00:40:35.91 In John 14 through 17, the emphasis falls upon the 00:40:36.32\00:40:40.00 work that the Holy Spirit performs in the spiritual 00:40:40.03\00:40:43.03 earthly temple, while Hebrews and Revelation focus on 00:40:43.06\00:40:46.68 Christ's heavenly work in the literal heavenly temple. 00:40:46.71\00:40:49.95 While Jesus prepares the place for us, we should prepare 00:40:49.98\00:40:54.01 to enter the place. 00:40:54.21\00:40:55.77 So in short, do we need to study the Sanctuary 00:40:56.48\00:41:02.48 in order to understand what Revelation is talking about? 00:41:02.51\00:41:05.70 Absolutely. 00:41:05.87\00:41:06.90 There's no way that you can understand Revelation. 00:41:06.93\00:41:09.61 And that's the reason why you have futurism and preterism. 00:41:09.64\00:41:13.19 They are oblivious to the Sanctuary service. 00:41:13.67\00:41:16.50 And so they're looking, you know, they don't conceive of 00:41:16.97\00:41:19.03 the idea that, "Well, Jesus now is in a literal 00:41:19.06\00:41:22.55 heavenly Sanctuary. 00:41:22.58\00:41:24.15 And on earth, the Sanctuary is His church, 00:41:24.19\00:41:27.54 the spiritual Sanctuary is His church." 00:41:27.57\00:41:29.57 No, they don't see that relationship. 00:41:29.60\00:41:32.03 And so they say, "Oh, you know, the Sanctuary, 00:41:32.06\00:41:34.34 the temple, that's going to be rebuilt. 00:41:34.37\00:41:35.70 That's the third temple that's going to be 00:41:35.73\00:41:37.16 rebuilt in the Middle East." 00:41:37.19\00:41:38.48 And they totally lose the spiritual significance 00:41:39.21\00:41:42.65 of the Sanctuary for God's people on earth. 00:41:42.68\00:41:44.68 Because they don't understand the Sanctuary. 00:41:45.49\00:41:47.38 And as I mentioned in a previous lecture, 00:41:48.11\00:41:50.48 the Sanctuary is not a doctrine of the Adventist church. 00:41:50.51\00:41:53.96 It is the world view of the Adventist church. 00:41:54.50\00:41:56.86 It is that which explains and interrelates all of 00:41:57.68\00:42:03.26 the doctrines of the church. 00:42:03.29\00:42:04.83 You see, the Sabbath is a doctrine. 00:42:06.20\00:42:09.14 And it's portrayed in the Sanctuary. 00:42:10.39\00:42:12.26 Health reform is a doctrine. 00:42:12.64\00:42:14.88 It's portrayed in the Sanctuary. 00:42:14.91\00:42:17.28 The state of the dead is a doctrine. 00:42:17.50\00:42:19.58 It's portrayed in the Sanctuary. 00:42:19.61\00:42:21.23 The judgment is a doctrine. 00:42:21.50\00:42:23.33 It's portrayed in the Sanctuary. 00:42:23.36\00:42:24.93 All of our doctrines are portrayed in the Sanctuary. 00:42:25.68\00:42:28.37 But the collection of all of the doctrines 00:42:28.57\00:42:31.40 make the Sanctuary service. 00:42:31.43\00:42:33.46 The Sanctuary service is the world view 00:42:33.49\00:42:36.41 of the Adventist church. 00:42:36.51\00:42:37.82 That's why Ellen White says that the Sanctuary is 00:42:38.76\00:42:40.60 the foundation of our faith. 00:42:40.63\00:42:41.74 The proper understanding, or the correct understanding, 00:42:41.77\00:42:44.75 of the ministration of Christ in the heavenly Sanctuary 00:42:44.93\00:42:47.20 is the foundation of our faith. 00:42:47.23\00:42:49.22 Does the foundation only hold up one little part of a building? 00:42:50.13\00:42:54.00 No, the foundation holds up the entire building. 00:42:54.10\00:42:57.19 In other words, the Sanctuary holds up the entire structure 00:42:58.11\00:43:02.41 of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. 00:43:02.44\00:43:04.01 And that's the reason why the devil has hated 00:43:04.42\00:43:05.97 the Sanctuary doctrine. 00:43:06.00\00:43:07.81 And those great theologians that have left the Adventist church, 00:43:08.23\00:43:11.70 one of the first things that they question 00:43:11.89\00:43:14.15 is the Sanctuary doctrine. 00:43:14.18\00:43:15.64 Particularly the ministration of Christ in the Most Holy Place 00:43:15.74\00:43:19.58 of the heavenly Sanctuary. 00:43:19.61\00:43:21.05 That is the object of attack constantly by those 00:43:21.08\00:43:25.22 so called great scholars that have left 00:43:25.25\00:43:27.32 the Seventh-day Adventist Church. 00:43:27.35\00:43:29.00 They have gone from the Most Holy Place 00:43:30.09\00:43:32.11 back to the Holy Place. 00:43:32.79\00:43:34.39 And they're kneeling there at the altar in the Holy Place. 00:43:35.14\00:43:38.08 And of course, Ellen White says that there the devil, 00:43:39.12\00:43:42.54 Satan, has taken the place that was left vacant. 00:43:43.10\00:43:45.92 Not in the heavenly Sanctuary, because he can't go up there, 00:43:46.02\00:43:48.54 but in the earthly reflection of the Sanctuary. 00:43:49.03\00:43:52.14 He's there. 00:43:52.55\00:43:53.58 And the Christian world, they're oblivious to Jesus 00:43:53.66\00:43:55.84 being in the Most Holy Place. 00:43:55.87\00:43:56.90 No, they don't understand the Sabbath, 00:43:57.06\00:43:58.78 they don't understand the law, 00:43:58.81\00:43:59.91 they don't understand health reform, 00:43:59.94\00:44:01.20 they don't understand the state of the dead. 00:44:01.30\00:44:02.91 They don't understand any of these doctrines that are 00:44:02.94\00:44:05.14 centered in the Most Holy Place because they're all caught up 00:44:05.17\00:44:07.63 in the court and in the Holy Place. 00:44:07.66\00:44:09.35 And that's why they think that they're serving the Lord. 00:44:10.83\00:44:14.84 And many of them do service the Lord to the 00:44:14.87\00:44:16.60 best of their knowledge. 00:44:16.63\00:44:17.73 And if they're sincere, they will accept 00:44:17.76\00:44:19.68 the fullness of truth. 00:44:19.71\00:44:21.06 So, that's all we're going to say about the importance 00:44:21.86\00:44:25.72 of the Sanctuary in the study of Bible prophecy. 00:44:25.75\00:44:29.22 Now I want to invite you to turn in your materials 00:44:29.25\00:44:33.23 to the one that it titled, Daniel's Little Sealed Book. 00:44:33.49\00:44:39.80 This is going to be an exciting study. 00:44:40.93\00:44:42.86 Are you excited about this? 00:44:45.05\00:44:48.16 Praise the Lord. Amen. 00:44:48.64\00:44:50.10 Now you're going to really get excited. 00:44:50.13\00:44:51.83 Daniel's Little Sealed Book. 00:44:52.94\00:44:55.69 Now in the materials that you received, 00:44:56.44\00:44:59.32 there is a packet that has this chart on the front. 00:45:00.16\00:45:04.38 I want you to take that out. 00:45:07.09\00:45:08.87 And on the fourth page of the packet, you have this 00:45:11.92\00:45:16.49 little chart. 00:45:18.33\00:45:19.59 The Structure of Daniel 1 through 7. 00:45:22.06\00:45:25.00 The Structure of Daniel 1 through 7. 00:45:25.74\00:45:28.57 Do you have it? 00:45:28.83\00:45:29.91 I see that you're searching for it. 00:45:32.24\00:45:33.79 That's good. 00:45:33.82\00:45:35.26 Seek, and ye shall find. 00:45:35.29\00:45:37.40 Alright. 00:45:40.34\00:45:41.41 Yeah, it's in that packet, Michelle. 00:45:45.67\00:45:48.74 It's in that packet. 00:45:48.77\00:45:49.94 The fourth page. 00:45:50.21\00:45:51.47 You count one, two, three, four, and you're there. 00:45:51.50\00:45:56.14 Now this chart, this chart illustrates the structure 00:46:01.30\00:46:07.88 of the first book in the book of Daniel. 00:46:08.73\00:46:12.06 Because Daniel is composed of two books in one book. 00:46:12.09\00:46:15.46 Daniel 1 through 7 is the first book within the book. 00:46:16.48\00:46:21.34 And I want you to notice how Daniel 1 through 7 00:46:22.50\00:46:26.54 is structured. 00:46:26.57\00:46:28.00 And by the way, there should have been a line drawn 00:46:29.61\00:46:32.85 right down the middle here. 00:46:32.88\00:46:34.75 Because this is suppose to be a candelabrum. 00:46:34.85\00:46:37.73 This is suppose to be a candlestick. 00:46:38.67\00:46:40.91 Okay? 00:46:41.73\00:46:42.76 Daniel chapter 1 would be the top light. 00:46:44.48\00:46:47.45 It's the introduction to the book. 00:46:47.48\00:46:49.37 Okay, so you should have up here, and it is, chapter 1, 00:46:49.92\00:46:53.98 but it doesn't have a circle. 00:46:54.01\00:46:55.15 It should have a circle right up here. 00:46:55.18\00:46:57.46 Now let me ask you, are Daniel 2 and Daniel 7 00:46:58.48\00:47:02.13 on the same branch of the candlestick? 00:47:03.71\00:47:06.09 Yes they are. 00:47:06.65\00:47:07.72 Why? 00:47:07.95\00:47:09.01 Are they parallel chapters? 00:47:09.04\00:47:10.68 Of course they are. 00:47:11.01\00:47:12.16 Daniel 2 has four metals and Daniel 7 has four beasts. 00:47:12.76\00:47:18.14 Do they deal with the same theme, Daniel 2 and Daniel 7? 00:47:18.86\00:47:21.97 Absolutely. 00:47:22.00\00:47:23.03 So they're on the same branch of the candlestick. 00:47:23.06\00:47:25.90 Daniel 2 and Daniel 7. 00:47:26.67\00:47:28.93 Now Daniel 3 and Daniel 6 are on the next branch 00:47:29.23\00:47:33.35 of the candlestick. 00:47:33.38\00:47:34.67 Are those two chapters related? 00:47:34.85\00:47:36.66 Of course they are. 00:47:37.07\00:47:38.11 What does Daniel 3 describe? 00:47:38.14\00:47:40.37 It describes the three young men that were thrown 00:47:40.90\00:47:43.81 into the fiery furnace. 00:47:43.84\00:47:45.37 What does Daniel 6 describe? 00:47:45.95\00:47:47.90 Daniel thrown into the lion's den. 00:47:48.62\00:47:50.76 Do they have a same central theme? 00:47:51.56\00:47:53.65 Absolutely. 00:47:54.07\00:47:55.10 Daniel 4 and 5 are on the same branch of the candlestick, 00:47:55.75\00:48:00.52 and they are related in their theme. 00:48:00.78\00:48:03.48 In Daniel chapter 4, you have the fall of the king of Babylon 00:48:03.98\00:48:08.30 for his pride and arrogance. 00:48:08.33\00:48:10.10 In Daniel 5, you have the fall of the kingdom of Babylon 00:48:10.76\00:48:15.70 for its pride and arrogance. 00:48:15.73\00:48:17.76 And so both of those chapters are related. 00:48:18.57\00:48:21.02 So what you have here in Daniel 1 through 7 00:48:21.22\00:48:24.39 is, you have a book that is complete in itself. 00:48:24.49\00:48:28.76 And you can use the illustration of the candlestick. 00:48:29.53\00:48:32.51 Daniel 1 being the introduction to the entire book, 00:48:32.54\00:48:36.45 and then Daniel 2 and 7 related, Daniel 3 and 6 related, 00:48:36.68\00:48:41.61 and Daniel 4 and 5 related on the same branch. 00:48:41.64\00:48:44.79 So the first seven chapters of Daniel are 00:48:44.82\00:48:47.70 a complete book in itself. 00:48:47.73\00:48:49.97 But Daniel 8 through 12 is another book. 00:48:50.95\00:48:54.66 Now let's take a look at the first book here in our handout. 00:48:56.00\00:49:00.65 And you're going to where the title is, The First Book. 00:49:01.75\00:49:05.57 Daniel 7 gives us a sequence of historical powers 00:49:06.89\00:49:11.99 that rule in the earth. 00:49:12.02\00:49:13.30 The lion represents Babylon. 00:49:13.95\00:49:17.25 The bear; the Medes and Persians. 00:49:17.55\00:49:20.51 The leopard; Greece. 00:49:20.54\00:49:22.90 The dragon beast; Rome. 00:49:23.00\00:49:25.81 The ten horns; Rome divided. 00:49:25.84\00:49:29.17 The little horn; papal Rome. 00:49:29.42\00:49:33.68 And then after papal Rome; 1260 years, 00:49:33.83\00:49:37.20 times, time, and the dividing of time, 00:49:37.23\00:49:39.25 then you have a judgment scene. 00:49:39.55\00:49:41.73 In other words, after the fall of the papacy 00:49:41.92\00:49:44.07 you have the judgment in 1844. 00:49:44.10\00:49:47.22 And then, at the end of Daniel 7 you have the consequence 00:49:48.28\00:49:52.75 of the judgment. 00:49:52.78\00:49:53.81 And that is, that Christ takes over the kingdoms of the world. 00:49:53.84\00:49:57.93 Now where does Jesus receive the kingdom? 00:49:59.16\00:50:01.22 When He takes it over or in the judgment when 00:50:01.25\00:50:04.90 He already has determined who are the subjects of His kingdom? 00:50:05.90\00:50:09.04 Folks, His kingdom is made up at the end of the 00:50:10.27\00:50:14.67 investigative judgment. 00:50:14.70\00:50:15.89 Because it's already been revealed who are His. 00:50:16.76\00:50:19.25 But then Jesus, after the time of trouble, comes 00:50:20.15\00:50:23.28 and He empirically takes His people to the kingdom, 00:50:23.31\00:50:26.33 physically takes His people to the kingdom. 00:50:26.36\00:50:28.37 But the kingdom is made up when the judgment comes to an end. 00:50:28.85\00:50:32.41 It is revealed who are subjects of His kingdom. 00:50:32.51\00:50:35.21 That is what Jesus went in to do. 00:50:35.24\00:50:38.04 He went into the Father to get the kingdom. 00:50:38.07\00:50:40.31 It doesn't mean that He went into the Father 00:50:40.64\00:50:42.21 to get a geographical territory. 00:50:42.24\00:50:44.21 Because this geographical territory is His anyway. 00:50:44.97\00:50:47.62 He went in there to determine who are the subjects 00:50:48.13\00:50:51.67 of His kingdom, who belongs to His kingdom. 00:50:51.70\00:50:53.69 And for that, He has to do a work of separation. 00:50:53.82\00:50:56.69 Because in the church there are wheat and tares. 00:50:57.69\00:51:00.84 In the church there are wise and foolish virgins. 00:51:02.16\00:51:05.26 In the church there are good and bad fish. 00:51:05.86\00:51:08.53 In the church there are people who have true godliness 00:51:09.36\00:51:12.13 and there are people who have only the form of godliness. 00:51:12.16\00:51:15.97 In the church there are people who truly have the name of 00:51:16.39\00:51:18.73 Jesus, whereas there are others who say, "Lord, Lord," 00:51:18.76\00:51:22.94 but they don't have a proper relationship with Jesus. 00:51:24.51\00:51:27.37 And so in the church, the church is a mixed bag, 00:51:27.95\00:51:30.79 so to speak. 00:51:30.94\00:51:32.02 In the church you have faithful and unfaithful. 00:51:32.05\00:51:34.94 Now how is it going to be determined who is faithful 00:51:34.97\00:51:37.50 and who isn't? 00:51:37.53\00:51:38.56 There has to be what? 00:51:39.38\00:51:40.74 A judgment. 00:51:41.11\00:51:42.26 The purpose of the judgment is simply to test the sincerity 00:51:42.91\00:51:47.70 of the repentance and the confession of people who 00:51:48.27\00:51:52.22 claim the name of Jesus Christ. 00:51:52.25\00:51:54.31 Let me ask you, can forgiveness be revoked? 00:51:55.53\00:51:59.74 Once a person is forgiven, can forgiveness be revoked? 00:51:59.94\00:52:03.31 Yes it can. 00:52:04.27\00:52:05.41 You say, "Is that biblical that once a person is forgiven, 00:52:06.91\00:52:09.45 the forgiveness can be revoked?" 00:52:09.71\00:52:11.87 Absolutely. 00:52:11.90\00:52:12.93 Do you remember the story of the two debtors? 00:52:13.39\00:52:15.55 Hmmm. 00:52:16.17\00:52:17.44 Interesting story. 00:52:17.47\00:52:19.07 A parable of Jesus. 00:52:19.57\00:52:20.96 There's this debtor that had a huge debt. 00:52:21.44\00:52:23.80 And this individual, you know, his master, he probably 00:52:24.65\00:52:27.45 embezzled what belonged to his master. 00:52:27.48\00:52:29.40 His master calls him. 00:52:29.43\00:52:30.69 That's the judgment, by the way. 00:52:30.72\00:52:32.12 And the master says, "Hey, I want you to 00:52:32.22\00:52:33.72 render me an account." 00:52:33.75\00:52:34.89 And he examines the accounts, he says, "You're an embezzler. 00:52:35.14\00:52:37.82 I'm going to throw you in prison, 00:52:38.43\00:52:39.61 and all your family with you." 00:52:39.64\00:52:40.99 And this man, you know, he says to his master, 00:52:41.87\00:52:45.69 "Oh please, please, give me time. 00:52:45.72\00:52:47.62 Give me time and I'll pay." 00:52:48.49\00:52:49.99 And the master says, "Be real." 00:52:50.89\00:52:52.72 He owed ten thousand talents. 00:52:52.75\00:52:54.48 He wouldn't have been able to pay in several lifetimes. 00:52:54.51\00:52:56.95 It was too big of a debt. 00:52:57.14\00:52:58.46 And so the master says, "You'll never be able to 00:52:59.08\00:53:02.42 pay me for this." 00:53:02.45\00:53:03.48 But he says, "I'll do something better. 00:53:03.68\00:53:05.24 Debt forgiven. 00:53:05.68\00:53:06.83 Because you cried out to me and you pled with me 00:53:06.86\00:53:10.17 for forgiveness." 00:53:10.20\00:53:11.29 Oh, this individual is so overjoyed. 00:53:12.17\00:53:14.45 Was he forgiven, yes or no? 00:53:14.63\00:53:16.24 Of course he was forgiven. 00:53:16.45\00:53:17.62 The story says that his debt was forgiven. 00:53:18.32\00:53:20.98 And so this individual, he's jumping for joy. 00:53:21.38\00:53:23.97 He's really happy. 00:53:24.00\00:53:25.03 He wasn't really sorry that he embezzled the money. 00:53:25.06\00:53:27.08 He was sorry he was going to jail. 00:53:27.11\00:53:28.63 But you would never know that unless there was a judgment. 00:53:30.05\00:53:33.44 Unless his works were examined. 00:53:33.85\00:53:36.41 And so this individual goes out into the street 00:53:36.83\00:53:38.92 and he finds someone that owns him a hundred denarii. 00:53:39.39\00:53:42.21 It was a considerable sum, about 100 days of work. 00:53:43.27\00:53:46.59 Because the common minimum wage was one denarius a day. 00:53:46.62\00:53:51.87 So, you know, he could have paid this debt in installments. 00:53:51.90\00:53:55.70 And yet, this individual who had been forgiven this huge debt 00:53:56.53\00:53:59.89 that he couldn't pay, he goes out and he tells this person, 00:53:59.92\00:54:03.98 "Pay me what you owe me." 00:54:04.01\00:54:05.55 And this person says the same thing. 00:54:06.27\00:54:07.95 He cries to him for mercy. 00:54:07.98\00:54:09.48 He says, "Please, please, give me time and I'll pay you." 00:54:09.51\00:54:13.50 And the Bible says that he grabbed him by the neck 00:54:13.53\00:54:15.72 and he started strangling him and saying, 00:54:15.75\00:54:17.84 "You give me my money right now. I want it right now." 00:54:17.87\00:54:21.12 Was this guy really repentant? 00:54:22.92\00:54:24.60 Listen, if he had understood the great debt that he had 00:54:24.93\00:54:29.44 been forgiven, he would have forgiven the little debt. 00:54:29.47\00:54:32.11 His works showed that his repentance was not genuine. 00:54:32.72\00:54:36.75 And so word comes to the king, to his master, 00:54:37.95\00:54:41.48 that this has happened. 00:54:42.19\00:54:43.58 And so he calls this individual. 00:54:44.02\00:54:45.45 He says, "Hey, come here. 00:54:45.48\00:54:46.75 Didn't I forgive your large debt?" 00:54:47.69\00:54:49.43 "Oh yes, thank you. Thank you, master." 00:54:50.03\00:54:52.31 "What is this I hear that I forgave you such a big debt 00:54:52.89\00:54:56.01 that you couldn't pay and you were not willing to let that 00:54:56.70\00:55:00.02 forgiveness flow through you to someone who could pay?" 00:55:00.05\00:55:03.92 And he was silent. 00:55:05.45\00:55:07.26 And what did the master do? 00:55:07.61\00:55:09.56 The master threw him into prison until he paid all of his debt. 00:55:10.01\00:55:14.96 Was his forgiveness revoked? 00:55:15.60\00:55:17.87 Yes, because it was discovered that his repentance 00:55:18.17\00:55:21.37 and his confession were crocodile tears. 00:55:21.40\00:55:24.90 It was not genuine. 00:55:25.77\00:55:26.81 The purpose of the judgment is to determine 00:55:26.91\00:55:29.40 if your repentance was true or not. 00:55:29.43\00:55:32.77 And the only way that it can be shown is by the way 00:55:32.80\00:55:36.67 that you live. 00:55:36.77\00:55:38.84 By works. 00:55:41.77\00:55:43.09 We're not saved by works, but we are judged by works. 00:55:44.28\00:55:47.52 Because the works show if our faith is real. 00:55:48.10\00:55:50.90 Faith without works is dead. 00:55:52.52\00:55:54.07 You know some people say, 00:55:55.31\00:55:56.34 "Okay, I'm saved by grace through faith." 00:55:56.37\00:55:58.28 And my answer is, "Yes, and you're judged by works." 00:55:58.31\00:56:00.68 Is there a contradiction there, that you're saved by grace 00:56:02.70\00:56:04.90 through faith, but you're judged by works? 00:56:04.93\00:56:06.80 Absolutely not. 00:56:06.89\00:56:08.01 Because your works show if your faith was real or not. 00:56:08.04\00:56:11.52 If you say, "Oh, I'm so sorry for sinning. 00:56:12.43\00:56:15.08 Lord, I'm so sorry I beat up my wife," 00:56:15.28\00:56:17.56 and then you're beating her up an hour from now, 00:56:17.88\00:56:20.41 there's something wrong with your repentance. 00:56:21.76\00:56:23.83 You see, repentance is shown by a changed life. 00:56:25.16\00:56:27.83 And the changed life reveals in a tangible way 00:56:28.39\00:56:32.78 whether your repentance is genuine. 00:56:32.81\00:56:34.22 That's why when the books are opened, 00:56:34.25\00:56:35.70 the works are going to be looked at. 00:56:35.80\00:56:37.52 And then Jesus is going to show who is really His 00:56:39.28\00:56:42.07 and who is a hypocrite. 00:56:43.03\00:56:44.44 Jesus, many times, spoke about the hypocrites 00:56:45.06\00:56:47.62 who will be thrown where there is wailing 00:56:48.19\00:56:50.61 and gnashing of teeth. 00:56:50.64\00:56:52.14 So, folks, the first half of the book of Daniel, 00:56:53.21\00:56:58.68 the first seven chapters, are dealing with a central theme. 00:56:58.71\00:57:05.31 And Daniel 8 through 12, as we're going to see, 00:57:06.64\00:57:10.87 deals with a separate theme. 00:57:10.90\00:57:13.29 They're related, but it is a separate theme. 00:57:13.49\00:57:15.76 Now, we only have a few seconds left, 00:57:16.61\00:57:20.77 so what we'll do is we'll bring this to a close now. 00:57:21.11\00:57:24.69 And then in our next session, we are going to take a look 00:57:25.09\00:57:28.74 at the second book that we find in Daniel chapters 8 through 12. 00:57:28.84\00:57:34.26 There are five reasons why Daniel 8 through 12 00:57:34.29\00:57:38.51 is a second book in Daniel. 00:57:38.54\00:57:40.78 And we're going to take a look at that. 00:57:40.81\00:57:43.17
