Now, I understand that
there are some challenges

in reaching the
First Nation peoples,

what are those?

Well, one of the
biggest challenges is that

between the government

and some of the non Seventh-day
Adventist denominations.

They have over the
last hundred years,

set up residential schools
00:37:04.35\00:37:05.75
and taken the children
away from their parents
00:37:05.79\00:37:08.89
in these First
Nation communities

and indoctrinated them
00:37:11.59\00:37:13.50
and abused them,
00:37:13.53\00:37:15.73
and took away their
culture and their language.

And so there's a lot
of anger and bitterness.

And they don't want missionaries

to come to them.

I understand it's
not really a cakewalk

going that far north.

the other issues?

Well, when I go up there
with some of the young people,

we don't
necessarily have hotels to go

and stay in,

or restaurants to eat in.

We camp

our food on a camp stove.

a place to take a bath

to come into this community.

But my heart was burdened,

because there had been a fire

not too far away
in another community.

somehow we must be able

people and bless them.

So we arrived there
sometime in the night,

and I couldn't sleep in the van,

and we had no place to
set up the tent right away.

So I took my dog

and I started
walking up and down the road

all night long

but finally they said,

came out of the office

was a group of people

homes for valuables.

were still raging.
