God bless everyone. 00:02:15.36\00:02:17.63 Thank you. 00:02:17.67\00:02:19.00 I think the thing that inspires me the most 00:02:21.70\00:02:23.94 is the testimony of a life of self-sacrifice. 00:02:23.97\00:02:27.68 When I go throughout my day, 00:02:27.71\00:02:29.58 I try to think 00:02:29.61\00:02:31.58 of what other people have gone through before me, 00:02:31.61\00:02:34.62 especially on the days that I feel a little selfish 00:02:34.65\00:02:37.65 or I feel like I don't want to do ministry. 00:02:37.69\00:02:40.59 I think about the people that really didn't have a lot 00:02:40.62\00:02:44.46 or not even had a lot of support, 00:02:44.49\00:02:46.29 but they kept on going anyway 00:02:46.33\00:02:48.53 because they had a greater reward, 00:02:48.56\00:02:50.70 a greater goal in mind 00:02:50.73\00:02:52.10 than just how I feel right now 00:02:52.13\00:02:54.70 and having comfort and pleasure right now. 00:02:54.74\00:02:57.34 And the greatest example of that, of course, 00:02:57.37\00:03:00.64 is Jesus. 00:03:00.68\00:03:02.01 And honestly, that's where I get 00:03:02.04\00:03:03.55 my greatest source of inspiration. 00:03:03.58\00:03:05.51 I guess my question would be, 00:03:05.55\00:03:07.42 why would you not want to in ASI. 00:03:07.45\00:03:09.82 Everyone should be a part of ASI. 00:03:09.85\00:03:12.02 There are all types of people, young, old, 00:03:12.05\00:03:15.22 you know, poor college students, 00:03:15.26\00:03:17.63 rich businessmen and women, 00:03:17.66\00:03:19.59 and everyone is all together for a common goal, 00:03:19.63\00:03:23.10 really just worshipping together 00:03:23.13\00:03:25.67 and going for that one mission of seeing Jesus come soon. 00:03:25.70\00:03:30.51 All the interactions and all the connections 00:03:30.54\00:03:32.84 that I've had with ASI have been so positive 00:03:32.87\00:03:34.98 because they serve to inspire people in ministry 00:03:35.01\00:03:38.45 and give you resources and training. 00:03:38.48\00:03:41.65 And it's such a huge inspiration 00:03:41.68\00:03:43.55 and encouragement for anyone. 00:03:43.59\00:03:45.82 And I would just encourage everyone 00:03:45.85\00:03:47.59 to be a part of it. 00:03:47.62\00:03:49.02 Oh, for a thousand tongues to sing 00:03:56.97\00:04:03.34 My great redeemer's praise 00:04:03.37\00:04:08.21 The glories of my God and King 00:04:08.24\00:04:15.05 The glories of my God and King 00:04:15.08\00:04:22.02 The triumphs of His grace 00:04:22.06\00:04:27.86 The triumphs of His grace 00:04:27.90\00:04:35.84 Jesus! 00:12:33.58\00:12:37.49 Well, GLOW is probably best explained 00:12:37.52\00:12:40.59 by sharing a quick story. 00:12:40.62\00:12:42.52 Recently there was a young woman 00:12:42.56\00:12:43.89 who was riding a bus, 00:12:43.93\00:12:45.26 and she felt an overwhelming conviction from God 00:12:45.29\00:12:47.20 to give her GLOW tracks or Bible pamphlet 00:12:47.23\00:12:49.66 to the person who is sitting next to her, 00:12:49.70\00:12:51.07 a complete stranger. 00:12:51.10\00:12:52.43 She felt completely afraid of doing this, 00:12:52.47\00:12:54.47 but as the bus came to a stop, 00:12:54.50\00:12:55.94 she recognized I'm never going to see this guy again. 00:12:55.97\00:12:57.97 So I need to give him the track now. 00:12:58.01\00:12:59.51 She mustered up her courage, 00:12:59.54\00:13:00.88 she gave him the track expecting the worst. 00:13:00.91\00:13:02.61 And the man said, "You know, I was just praying 00:13:02.64\00:13:04.78 that God would give me a sign 00:13:04.81\00:13:06.18 that He didn't want me to commit suicide, 00:13:06.21\00:13:07.75 and I think that this is it." 00:13:07.78\00:13:09.35 So that perfectly illustrates GLOW. 00:13:09.38\00:13:11.05 We're just encouraging church members 00:13:11.09\00:13:12.72 to carry small literature with them wherever they go, 00:13:12.75\00:13:15.06 in their pockets, in their purses, 00:13:15.09\00:13:16.52 so that when God opens up opportunities, 00:13:16.56\00:13:18.39 they're equipped and ready to share their faith. 00:13:18.43\00:13:20.66 So how is it working more, 00:13:20.70\00:13:22.46 are more people engaged 00:13:22.50\00:13:24.03 in becoming a part of this project? 00:13:24.07\00:13:28.27 You know, I remember when Nelson was 22 years old, 00:13:28.30\00:13:30.91 he called me, I was 31. 00:13:30.94\00:13:32.71 I was a literature minister's director. 00:13:32.74\00:13:34.64 And he called me, 00:13:34.68\00:13:36.01 and one thing that stood out in the conversation 00:13:36.04\00:13:38.91 about this GLOW idea 00:13:38.95\00:13:40.75 was that he was excited. 00:13:40.78\00:13:42.52 He was excited by getting every member involved 00:13:42.55\00:13:45.82 every single day. 00:13:45.85\00:13:47.76 And that was really God given idea. 00:13:47.79\00:13:50.19 It is really God's plan 00:13:50.23\00:13:51.63 for every member to be involved. 00:13:51.66\00:13:53.56 Since 10 years ago, 00:13:53.60\00:13:55.66 we have printed 90 million GLOW tracks 00:13:55.70\00:13:59.27 in 75 different languages. 00:13:59.30\00:14:02.67 My conference was the second conference 00:14:02.70\00:14:04.04 to adapt this project and has been a great success. 00:14:04.07\00:14:07.08 Now just to illustrate how this works today, 00:14:07.11\00:14:10.95 yesterday I was at the registration table, 00:14:10.98\00:14:12.98 and there was a lady 00:14:13.01\00:14:14.72 who was kind of wondering about. 00:14:14.75\00:14:16.08 And so I asked her if she needed help. 00:14:16.12\00:14:17.45 She came over, she said, "I am a neighbor, 00:14:17.49\00:14:18.82 I'm a neighbor next to Convention, 00:14:18.85\00:14:20.46 what is this all about?" 00:14:20.49\00:14:21.82 I told her and this... 00:14:21.86\00:14:23.32 There's a picture, there's a picture outside. 00:14:23.36\00:14:26.93 And she was trying to describe the person, 00:14:26.96\00:14:29.13 and then she saw the picture on the brochure, 00:14:29.16\00:14:32.57 and it was the picture of Jesus. 00:14:32.60\00:14:34.50 I told them this is an artist depiction of Jesus. 00:14:34.54\00:14:38.21 It was like talking to a little child, 00:14:38.24\00:14:39.67 and then I pulled out the GLOW track 00:14:39.71\00:14:42.18 about salvation with the prayer 00:14:42.21\00:14:44.28 that she'll find the one who died for. 00:14:44.31\00:14:47.62 And I gave her one that dealt with prophecy. 00:14:47.65\00:14:50.42 So that's what we want to see. 00:14:50.45\00:14:51.79 We want to see every member involved, 00:14:51.82\00:14:53.15 and hundreds of thousand members 00:14:53.19\00:14:55.52 have done that. 00:14:55.56\00:14:57.03 So tell us, what is the focus of the project 00:14:57.06\00:14:59.53 for today's offering? 00:14:59.56\00:15:01.00 Well, we approached ASI not too long ago, 00:15:06.07\00:15:07.90 and we asked them about partnering together 00:15:07.94\00:15:09.64 to try and do something big. 00:15:09.67\00:15:11.01 We'd like to get church members 00:15:11.04\00:15:12.87 in Korea, South Korea, Japan, and China 00:15:12.91\00:15:17.11 to also do what we're doing here 00:15:17.15\00:15:18.65 in the North American Division, 00:15:18.68\00:15:20.02 which is to distribute literature 00:15:20.05\00:15:21.38 in everyday life. 00:15:21.42\00:15:22.75 So that was a big undertaking. 00:15:22.78\00:15:24.12 We had talked to them about that. 00:15:24.15\00:15:26.35 And exactly how is that going to work? 00:15:26.39\00:15:31.99 So what we're working on is 00:15:32.03\00:15:33.90 translating the GLOW tracks in the native languages. 00:15:33.93\00:15:36.60 Now, we have done that, some of that already. 00:15:36.63\00:15:38.40 We have some Japanese, Chinese, and Korean tracks, 00:15:38.43\00:15:41.80 but also we are focusing on adapting them 00:15:41.84\00:15:44.71 to the world view. 00:15:44.74\00:15:47.28 So we have some GLOW track adopted for Buddhists, 00:15:47.31\00:15:49.98 and Hindus, and Jews, and Muslims, 00:15:50.01\00:15:52.48 and we'll continue doing that, 00:15:52.51\00:15:54.45 so we can reach people where they are. 00:15:54.48\00:15:57.89 Yep, another thing that we're going to do, 00:15:57.92\00:15:59.35 we're going to try and print 00:15:59.39\00:16:00.72 anywhere between 2 to 10 million tracks 00:16:00.76\00:16:02.66 to start with, 00:16:02.69\00:16:04.03 and we're going to be working to try and establish volunteers 00:16:04.06\00:16:06.39 who'll be going throughout those countries 00:16:06.43\00:16:07.76 and encouraging church members 00:16:07.80\00:16:09.23 to take these tracks and to pass them out. 00:16:09.26\00:16:11.00 And also, to make sure that those tracks 00:16:11.03\00:16:13.00 are actually sold to church members, 00:16:13.03\00:16:14.37 and then the money is recouped, 00:16:14.40\00:16:15.74 so that we can reprint over and over and over again. 00:16:15.77\00:16:18.21 So this is an ongoing project, 00:16:18.24\00:16:19.61 it's not a one time print and distribute, 00:16:19.64\00:16:21.91 and then you never see it again. 00:16:21.94\00:16:23.35 That's excellent. 00:16:23.38\00:16:25.05 I remember actually going to an appointment. 00:16:25.08\00:16:28.38 And as I exited my car, 00:16:28.42\00:16:31.95 a young boy was being encouraged by his mother 00:16:31.99\00:16:34.79 to come up to me. 00:16:34.82\00:16:36.32 So as he came up to me, he looked up to me and says, 00:16:36.36\00:16:38.43 "Would you like this?" 00:16:38.46\00:16:39.79 And he was giving me a GLOW track. 00:16:39.83\00:16:43.06 So anyone can use these 00:16:43.10\00:16:45.50 to engage their friends and to share, 00:16:45.53\00:16:48.90 and so we're really grateful for that. 00:16:48.94\00:16:50.81 That sounds like a very worthy project. 00:16:50.84\00:16:52.57 Is there anything else you'd like to share 00:16:52.61\00:16:54.08 on our last remaining moments? 00:16:54.11\00:16:58.01 Sure, you know, 00:16:58.05\00:16:59.38 even if somebody today is listening to this 00:16:59.41\00:17:01.68 and they feel like they can't donate 00:17:01.72\00:17:03.05 in any large way 00:17:03.08\00:17:04.42 towards these great evangelist projects of ASI, 00:17:04.45\00:17:06.62 that's okay, there's still something 00:17:06.65\00:17:07.99 that we can do for the Lord. 00:17:08.02\00:17:09.36 You know, if we in the United States, 00:17:09.39\00:17:10.96 we in the North American Division 00:17:10.99\00:17:12.56 can set the example by being faithful 00:17:12.59\00:17:14.13 by passing out literature in our everyday life 00:17:14.16\00:17:16.26 by putting in our pockets, 00:17:16.30\00:17:17.73 it'll be a great example for the world church, 00:17:17.77\00:17:19.33 and it will inspire them 00:17:19.37\00:17:20.70 to continue to do the same as well. 00:17:20.74\00:17:22.07 You know, there's a quote from Mrs. White 00:17:22.10\00:17:23.44 where she says, 00:17:23.47\00:17:24.81 "That soon more than 1,000 will be converted in one day, 00:17:24.84\00:17:27.01 most of whom will trace their first convictions 00:17:27.04\00:17:29.11 back to the reading of our publications." 00:17:29.14\00:17:31.01 So by doing this, by distributing literature 00:17:31.05\00:17:33.55 in our everyday lives, which all of us can do, 00:17:33.58\00:17:35.75 we can make a big impact to the Lord. 00:17:35.78\00:17:38.12 Thank you very much, Kamil and Nelson, 00:17:38.15\00:17:40.72 for joining us here at ASI from Germany. 00:17:40.76\00:17:43.43 And we wish you God's richest blessings 00:17:43.46\00:17:44.86 as you continue to serve the world 00:17:44.89\00:17:47.50 through GLOW. 00:17:47.53\00:17:48.86 Have a good Sabbath. 00:17:48.90\00:17:50.23 International Caring Hands is an ASI organization, 00:17:53.23\00:17:56.44 which uses dentistry as medical evangelism 00:17:56.47\00:17:59.24 right inside Seventh-day Adventist churches 00:17:59.27\00:18:01.48 and in communities 00:18:01.51\00:18:02.84 without a single Seventh-day Adventist. 00:18:02.88\00:18:04.71 Thanks to ASI, 00:18:04.75\00:18:06.41 International Caring Hands has established 00:18:06.45\00:18:08.28 medical evangelism programs in Zambia, Madagascar, 00:18:08.32\00:18:11.39 and Micronesia. 00:18:11.42\00:18:13.19 All of the connections for these programs 00:18:13.22\00:18:15.02 were made at ASI national conventions. 00:18:15.06\00:18:19.53 Now thanks to ASI, we are entering Mongolia 00:18:19.56\00:18:22.43 and have partnered with the Mongolian mission 00:18:22.46\00:18:24.50 to establish a dental evangelism program, 00:18:24.53\00:18:27.34 and we're working in coordination with 00:18:27.37\00:18:28.70 two Mongolian Adventist dentists 00:18:28.74\00:18:30.67 to reach Mongolia with healing and relief from pain 00:18:30.71\00:18:33.91 that only comes from Jesus. 00:18:33.94\00:18:35.88 Mongolia has a population of 3 million people, 00:18:35.91\00:18:38.91 2% are Christian, 00:18:38.95\00:18:40.28 and 2,000 are Seventh-day Adventist. 00:18:40.32\00:18:42.45 The fields in Mongolia 00:18:42.48\00:18:43.82 are right for medical evangelism. 00:18:43.85\00:18:45.85 Mongolia's sandwich between Russia on the north, 00:18:45.89\00:18:48.62 and China on the south. 00:18:48.66\00:18:50.33 Traditional evangelism is difficult, 00:18:50.36\00:18:52.79 but medical evangelism 00:18:52.83\00:18:54.23 is the opening wench to reach others 00:18:54.26\00:18:56.16 for Christ in Mongolia. 00:18:56.20\00:18:57.63 So International Caring Hands. 00:19:00.67\00:19:02.97 Randy, just come a little bit closer 00:19:03.00\00:19:04.34 here to the podium. 00:19:04.37\00:19:05.71 This is Randy Meyer. 00:19:05.74\00:19:07.08 He's the Executive Director for International Caring Hands. 00:19:07.11\00:19:10.01 And it looks like such a worthy project 00:19:10.05\00:19:12.11 to be able to provide dental services 00:19:12.15\00:19:14.42 to those who need it most. 00:19:14.45\00:19:16.72 First of all, tell us I'm curious, 00:19:16.75\00:19:18.12 how many dentists are involved in your operation? 00:19:18.15\00:19:21.16 On any given year, 00:19:21.19\00:19:22.52 we have roughly about 250 dentists 00:19:22.56\00:19:24.49 that volunteer. 00:19:24.53\00:19:25.86 We also have other volunteers of roughly probably about 500 00:19:25.89\00:19:29.90 or so people who come, do VBS, do evangelism, 00:19:29.93\00:19:33.74 participate in doing the registration 00:19:33.77\00:19:36.14 for the program, 00:19:36.17\00:19:37.51 and other types of literature outreach as well 00:19:37.54\00:19:40.41 during the process of our dental clinics. 00:19:40.44\00:19:42.78 So why is it that you selected ICC Mongolia 00:19:42.81\00:19:47.15 as the project for this year's offering? 00:19:47.18\00:19:49.22 It's business unusual, right? 00:19:49.25\00:19:52.49 So business unusual, this is quite unusual for us. 00:19:52.52\00:19:57.16 In that, we normally go to nice, 00:19:57.19\00:19:58.89 warm climates, 00:19:58.93\00:20:00.36 places where it stays above freezing. 00:20:00.40\00:20:03.30 In Mongolia, during the winter, 00:20:03.33\00:20:04.83 it can be 40 below 0 Fahrenheit, 00:20:04.87\00:20:07.90 just to give you an indication, 00:20:07.94\00:20:09.70 which for someone running dental equipment 00:20:09.74\00:20:11.67 with water inside of it is a rather daunting task. 00:20:11.71\00:20:14.98 So it's business unusual in that respect. 00:20:15.01\00:20:18.48 But when you have the Holy Spirit 00:20:18.51\00:20:20.95 working in certain areas, 00:20:20.98\00:20:22.65 you know that you have to move forward. 00:20:22.68\00:20:25.65 Peter Culik, ASI member approached me many years ago 00:20:25.69\00:20:29.26 in relation to going to Mongolia. 00:20:29.29\00:20:31.36 And then after that It Is Written approached us, 00:20:31.39\00:20:34.36 and then the Mongolian mission. 00:20:34.40\00:20:36.36 And then, you know, when a pastor named Bold comes 00:20:36.40\00:20:39.43 and says, "You need to go to Mongolia. 00:20:39.47\00:20:42.37 You listen to the Holy Spirit, and He leads and guides." 00:20:42.40\00:20:46.11 So in June of 2017, 00:20:46.14\00:20:49.01 we went to Mongolia with It Is Written 00:20:49.04\00:20:52.58 and their medical evangelists. 00:20:52.61\00:20:54.52 And I was able to get one dental unit in 00:20:54.55\00:20:57.02 for the suction, 00:20:57.05\00:20:58.39 and for running the drills into Mongolia, 00:20:58.42\00:21:01.09 along with a dental chair. 00:21:01.12\00:21:02.72 I was able to walk in 00:21:02.76\00:21:04.09 without even going through customs. 00:21:04.13\00:21:05.46 They just send me right out, 00:21:05.49\00:21:06.93 which was quite a miracle in relation to that. 00:21:06.96\00:21:10.47 The 15 volunteers that we had were able to do some fillings 00:21:10.50\00:21:13.47 because we only had one dental unit. 00:21:13.50\00:21:15.44 The rest of the dentists 00:21:15.47\00:21:16.81 had to work in the state hospital 00:21:16.84\00:21:18.17 where they weren't as able to do evangelism 00:21:18.21\00:21:21.91 as they would have otherwise, 00:21:21.94\00:21:23.28 and the other dentists did extractions. 00:21:23.31\00:21:25.71 So we saw the need in Mongolia 00:21:25.75\00:21:29.05 through this initial outreach in June of 2017. 00:21:29.08\00:21:33.25 So how do you plan to execute the expansion 00:21:33.29\00:21:35.76 of the outreach in Mongolia? 00:21:35.79\00:21:37.76 Well, actually, we had our first 00:21:37.79\00:21:40.23 all Mongolian dental evangelism event 00:21:40.26\00:21:44.83 in May, 2017, so I mean in 2018. 00:21:44.87\00:21:50.21 So it just took place this May. 00:21:50.24\00:21:52.01 They served 150 people in the rural villages of Sant 00:21:52.04\00:21:57.15 and Khuder in Mongolia. 00:21:57.18\00:21:59.58 And they were able to go out, 00:21:59.61\00:22:01.38 pray with every single person that they went with, 00:22:01.42\00:22:05.95 and to continue to provide evangelistic outreach 00:22:05.99\00:22:09.59 in these small communities 00:22:09.62\00:22:11.16 where there are not very many Seventh-day Adventist. 00:22:11.19\00:22:14.86 And so in the process of this work, 00:22:14.90\00:22:17.63 our plan is to expand 00:22:17.67\00:22:19.10 and have 10 dental units in Mongolia, 00:22:19.13\00:22:22.10 so that the two Seventh-day Adventist dentists 00:22:22.14\00:22:24.61 who are working there can go out separately 00:22:24.64\00:22:26.37 and go to different areas 00:22:26.41\00:22:27.84 as well as other Adventists from around the world. 00:22:27.88\00:22:30.58 Adventist dentists from Korea have come to Mongolia, 00:22:30.61\00:22:34.35 from Australia, from the United States, 00:22:34.38\00:22:37.29 from Canada, 00:22:37.32\00:22:38.65 we want to make for sure 00:22:38.69\00:22:40.02 that Mongolia can have a rich experience. 00:22:40.06\00:22:42.72 And in fact, you know, when our trip to Mongolia, 00:22:42.76\00:22:45.86 when we went with It Is Written, 00:22:45.89\00:22:47.23 70 people were baptized 00:22:47.26\00:22:48.86 at the end of John Bradshaw's evangelism 00:22:48.90\00:22:51.47 and medical evangelism outreach. 00:22:51.50\00:22:53.13 So it was quite successful. 00:22:53.17\00:22:55.20 And then in September 2017, 00:22:55.24\00:22:57.71 another 70 people were baptized as well 00:22:57.74\00:23:00.61 which increased the church exponentially. 00:23:00.64\00:23:03.68 Now you call this dental evangelism outreach. 00:23:03.71\00:23:06.75 I'm curious if there's something else 00:23:06.78\00:23:08.12 that you add to the dental services 00:23:08.15\00:23:10.65 that kind of complete the evangelism piece 00:23:10.69\00:23:13.72 to your outreach. 00:23:13.76\00:23:15.09 We do a lot of outreach through other sources as well. 00:23:15.12\00:23:18.29 We are regularly going and doing VBS classes. 00:23:18.33\00:23:22.26 We have people who give out pillowcase dresses. 00:23:22.30\00:23:24.90 I don't know if you know what those are, 00:23:24.93\00:23:26.47 but those are dresses mainly made out of pillowcases 00:23:26.50\00:23:29.70 that are then distributed throughout Zambia, 00:23:29.74\00:23:32.44 and Micronesia, and Mongolia, and other places, 00:23:32.47\00:23:36.41 and we believe in reaching everyone 00:23:36.44\00:23:39.15 through evangelism, 00:23:39.18\00:23:41.32 both literature evangelism, 00:23:41.35\00:23:42.68 where we've gone with 00:23:42.72\00:23:44.85 Light Bearers Ministry materials, 00:23:44.89\00:23:47.29 and distributed them during our dental clinics. 00:23:47.32\00:23:50.09 And one other thing I want to add 00:23:50.13\00:23:52.06 is we've actually used the very book 00:23:52.09\00:23:55.40 that you received, everyone, when you registered 00:23:55.43\00:23:58.03 has been translated into Mongolian. 00:23:58.07\00:24:00.40 I worked with Hermen Hobble, 00:24:00.44\00:24:02.24 and we were able to work with the mission 00:24:02.27\00:24:04.44 and get this translated and a 1000 copies will go out. 00:24:04.47\00:24:07.48 So our hope is to continue to spread the good news 00:24:07.51\00:24:11.61 and bring revival and evangelism 00:24:11.65\00:24:14.38 in all forms to Mongolia. 00:24:14.42\00:24:16.65 Well, Randy, I want to thank you 00:24:16.69\00:24:18.02 and International Caring Hands for everything you're doing. 00:24:18.05\00:24:20.36 We know from the experience 00:24:20.39\00:24:21.72 that we've had here with the Amen Clinics, 00:24:21.76\00:24:24.39 and your Best Pathway to Health 00:24:24.43\00:24:26.13 that dental is such a critical need, 00:24:26.16\00:24:28.03 and to know that someone else's on the front lines 00:24:28.06\00:24:30.40 in places that are more austere and difficult 00:24:30.43\00:24:32.93 is a real blessing. 00:24:32.97\00:24:34.30 Thank you very much. Thank you. 00:24:34.34\00:24:37.87 Now coming to the podium are two individuals 00:24:37.91\00:24:40.78 that I would like to have them share 00:24:40.81\00:24:43.01 some of what they are involved with 00:24:43.04\00:24:44.75 from a different part of the world. 00:24:44.78\00:24:46.88 To my left here is Jason Fournier, 00:24:46.92\00:24:49.12 and he is from the Kibidula Evangelism Training Center 00:24:49.15\00:24:54.22 in Tanzania, 00:24:54.26\00:24:55.59 and Alan Knowles, 00:24:55.62\00:24:56.96 who is from Riverside Farm Institute 00:24:56.99\00:24:59.09 in Zambia. 00:24:59.13\00:25:00.46 And these are two experts one day church builders. 00:25:00.50\00:25:05.57 They lead teams to build one day churches 00:25:05.60\00:25:08.50 throughout their countries. 00:25:08.54\00:25:09.87 And so I want to know from them 00:25:09.90\00:25:11.57 what's been happening with one day church. 00:25:11.61\00:25:13.41 So, Jason, we'll start with you. 00:25:13.44\00:25:15.24 Tell us a little bit about... 00:25:15.28\00:25:16.68 Well, tell us how many churches 00:25:16.71\00:25:18.11 so far have been built in Tanzania? 00:25:18.15\00:25:20.35 We have built over 600. 00:25:20.38\00:25:22.62 Six hundred churches in Tanzania! 00:25:22.65\00:25:25.29 Wow, the work is probably almost done, 00:25:25.32\00:25:27.02 but we'll get to that later. 00:25:27.06\00:25:28.62 So tell us in an African culture, 00:25:28.66\00:25:32.46 how significant is it to have a church structure? 00:25:32.49\00:25:36.93 Well, not only is it important to have a home to worship in, 00:25:36.97\00:25:42.07 but to have this sense of belonging that you are part 00:25:42.10\00:25:45.41 of something bigger than your own little group, 00:25:45.44\00:25:47.88 your own idea. 00:25:47.91\00:25:49.24 And so when a church actually, 00:25:49.28\00:25:51.28 for people who are unable to afford a proper church, 00:25:51.31\00:25:54.58 a church brought in and built for them 00:25:54.62\00:25:57.52 represents a connection to a bigger family, 00:25:57.55\00:26:00.82 including the family here at ASI. 00:26:00.86\00:26:03.99 Now I understand that even the Maasai tribe 00:26:04.03\00:26:06.59 has been impacted by one day church. 00:26:06.63\00:26:08.96 You have a testimony to share that to illustrate that. 00:26:09.00\00:26:11.57 Yes, well, there was a woman up near the Kenyan border, 00:26:11.60\00:26:17.51 one of the wives of a prominent Maasai 00:26:17.54\00:26:20.01 in the area. 00:26:20.04\00:26:21.38 She somehow heard the gospel 00:26:21.41\00:26:24.15 and learned of the Seventh-day Sabbath 00:26:24.18\00:26:25.81 and began to keep it in her little village. 00:26:25.85\00:26:29.15 And she built a little grass thatched shelter 00:26:29.18\00:26:35.29 that they call the church, 00:26:35.32\00:26:36.66 and she began meeting every Sabbath morning 00:26:36.69\00:26:38.86 with a handful of people. 00:26:38.89\00:26:41.46 And they were studying about the Sabbath 00:26:41.50\00:26:44.57 and learning different things, but her husband, 00:26:44.60\00:26:47.54 when he realized that she was drawing attention 00:26:47.57\00:26:49.64 and starting a group, 00:26:49.67\00:26:51.27 they had reached seven people at this point, 00:26:51.31\00:26:53.94 he was unsure of this, and he said, 00:26:53.98\00:26:56.78 "You're worshiping on the wrong day. 00:26:56.81\00:26:58.21 If you want to be a Christian, you need to worship on Sunday." 00:26:58.25\00:27:02.38 Well, he didn't convince her just that easy. 00:27:02.42\00:27:04.39 So he decided to build a church in opposition to her 00:27:04.42\00:27:08.36 and invite the local Lutheran pastor 00:27:08.39\00:27:11.16 to come and start teaching in his church. 00:27:11.19\00:27:13.70 So he sold the cow, and bought some roofing sheets, 00:27:13.73\00:27:16.46 and built a little church with just 10 roofing sheets, 00:27:16.50\00:27:19.70 and began to have Sunday services there. 00:27:19.73\00:27:22.84 And actually drew part of her little group away. 00:27:22.87\00:27:26.24 But she began to pray, 00:27:26.27\00:27:28.18 and her prayers were answered when one day our truck 00:27:28.21\00:27:31.15 with our crew showed up in the village 00:27:31.18\00:27:33.82 and put up a one day church. 00:27:33.85\00:27:37.72 And in answer to her prayer as well, 00:27:37.75\00:27:40.92 her husband, when he saw that, 00:27:40.96\00:27:42.32 it wasn't just her little idea that came out, 00:27:42.36\00:27:44.93 she came out with worshipping on Sabbath, 00:27:44.96\00:27:47.10 but she was connected to someone 00:27:47.13\00:27:48.46 bigger caught his attention, 00:27:48.50\00:27:50.07 and he decided 00:27:50.10\00:27:51.43 to invite his whole congregation now 00:27:51.47\00:27:53.77 to join her in their one day church, 00:27:53.80\00:27:56.37 and start studying about the true Sabbath. 00:27:56.40\00:27:58.64 Amen. 00:27:58.67\00:28:00.01 And today that church is growing, 00:28:00.04\00:28:01.64 it's bigger than it ever was before. 00:28:01.68\00:28:03.75 That's incredible. 00:28:03.78\00:28:05.11 Now, I also understand that even there in Tanzania, 00:28:05.15\00:28:09.02 there are individuals 00:28:09.05\00:28:10.55 who are willing to sacrifice so much 00:28:10.59\00:28:12.62 just to have a church in their village. 00:28:12.65\00:28:15.46 Well, I know it takes a sacrifice 00:28:15.49\00:28:17.23 on the part of each one of you here to enable us 00:28:17.26\00:28:19.96 to build these one day churches. 00:28:20.00\00:28:22.50 But as those churches arrive there, 00:28:22.53\00:28:24.10 there's a sacrifice on the other side, 00:28:24.13\00:28:25.53 and I just want to give... 00:28:25.57\00:28:26.90 This story touched my heart 00:28:26.94\00:28:28.47 when I heard it because our crew went out 00:28:28.50\00:28:30.54 to one of the villages and in central Tanzania, 00:28:30.57\00:28:34.71 and they showed up, and they had been invited, 00:28:34.74\00:28:37.25 the village had given land to build a church. 00:28:37.28\00:28:39.91 But when the truck showed up, the village said, "No, 00:28:39.95\00:28:42.65 we have other plans for this land. 00:28:42.68\00:28:44.55 And so you can't have that property." 00:28:44.59\00:28:46.96 And the people were very disappointed, 00:28:46.99\00:28:49.02 obviously. 00:28:49.06\00:28:50.39 And one of the very new converts, 00:28:50.43\00:28:51.76 when he heard that the truck was going to drive away 00:28:51.79\00:28:55.06 with that church on it, 00:28:55.10\00:28:56.50 and they weren't going to have a church, 00:28:56.53\00:28:57.87 he said, "No, take my land. 00:28:57.90\00:28:59.87 I have a piece of property in the middle of the place, 00:28:59.90\00:29:03.00 and you can build on my property." 00:29:03.04\00:29:05.34 So that our crew went over to his place, 00:29:05.37\00:29:08.18 and it was really too small to share with his house 00:29:08.21\00:29:11.65 and to put up a church. 00:29:11.68\00:29:13.01 And he said, "Take down my house." 00:29:13.05\00:29:14.72 And so they tore down his house and put up a church. 00:29:14.75\00:29:17.69 And I'm thankful to report that other church members 00:29:17.72\00:29:21.56 who were outside of town offered him 00:29:21.59\00:29:23.66 some land to build a new house. 00:29:23.69\00:29:25.39 But, you know, 00:29:25.43\00:29:26.76 it touched my heart that people are so excited about this. 00:29:26.80\00:29:29.10 How many of us would give up our house for God's house? 00:29:29.13\00:29:33.64 That's a question to be answered. 00:29:33.67\00:29:35.67 So is there still a need? 00:29:35.70\00:29:37.54 There's already been 600 churches 00:29:37.57\00:29:39.91 built in Tanzania. 00:29:39.94\00:29:41.28 Do we still need one day churches there? 00:29:41.31\00:29:42.81 I want to tell you that, 00:29:42.84\00:29:44.18 we are farther from meeting the need 00:29:44.21\00:29:45.68 than we ever were when we started 00:29:45.71\00:29:47.78 because every time we build a church, we are... 00:29:47.82\00:29:50.82 This is evangelism in action. 00:29:50.85\00:29:53.72 Those churches are filling as fast as we build them, 00:29:53.76\00:29:56.16 and now there is need for far more churches 00:29:56.19\00:29:58.26 than there ever were before. 00:29:58.29\00:30:00.00 Thank you very much, Jason. 00:30:00.03\00:30:01.90 All right, let's talk to Alan. 00:30:01.93\00:30:03.26 Let's see what's happening in Zambia. 00:30:03.30\00:30:05.30 Tell me, Alan, how is it that you identify locations 00:30:05.33\00:30:08.34 to build your churches? 00:30:08.37\00:30:10.64 At Riverside Farm Institute where I work, 00:30:10.67\00:30:13.68 we sponsor 50 pioneer Bible workers. 00:30:13.71\00:30:19.41 And these fellows 00:30:19.45\00:30:20.78 are in the far reaches of Zambia, 00:30:20.82\00:30:23.89 not the easy places, 00:30:23.92\00:30:25.25 those hard places where there are no roads, 00:30:25.29\00:30:27.49 no electricity, no cell phone, in the tough places. 00:30:27.52\00:30:31.33 And those men are writing to me on a weekly basis, 00:30:31.36\00:30:35.46 we need churches. 00:30:35.50\00:30:38.00 Now you have an interesting story 00:30:38.03\00:30:39.83 that you're going to share with us, 00:30:39.87\00:30:41.30 and we like them to roll the video 00:30:41.34\00:30:43.10 because you're going to kind of narrate through for us, 00:30:43.14\00:30:46.24 one of these very difficult places 00:30:46.27\00:30:48.48 that a one day church was erected. 00:30:48.51\00:30:50.05 That's right. 00:30:50.08\00:30:51.41 You've seen some of the pictures 00:30:51.45\00:30:52.78 in western Zambia. 00:30:52.81\00:30:54.15 This is the church that I found up on the Zambezi River, 00:30:54.18\00:30:57.75 two hours by boat, 00:30:57.79\00:30:59.55 this is where the people worshipped. 00:30:59.59\00:31:01.32 They would get out on Sabbath, and find water in their church. 00:31:01.36\00:31:05.76 And in their church meetings, they said, "We need help." 00:31:05.79\00:31:08.76 And the help was answered 00:31:08.80\00:31:10.13 by ASI and Riverside Farm Institute. 00:31:10.17\00:31:12.93 We came to help build them a church. 00:31:12.97\00:31:16.10 And we asked the membership to help us. 00:31:16.14\00:31:18.67 I didn't say the men to help us, 00:31:18.71\00:31:20.81 the membership to help us. 00:31:20.84\00:31:22.18 You can see here, the ladies, 00:31:22.21\00:31:24.65 even the cradle roll department was there. 00:31:24.68\00:31:26.95 We spent a week at this little island area 00:31:30.99\00:31:35.76 in the dry season. 00:31:35.79\00:31:37.13 It's sandy, 00:31:37.16\00:31:38.79 and we were able to come and build 00:31:38.83\00:31:40.33 with very interesting ways of transport. 00:31:40.36\00:31:45.23 From the edge of the river, 00:31:45.27\00:31:46.60 it was about a mile to the building site. 00:31:46.63\00:31:50.51 And we have unusual transport. 00:31:50.54\00:31:55.58 At these church sites, all the members get involved. 00:31:55.61\00:31:59.25 The ladies are cooking, they're hauling water for us, 00:31:59.28\00:32:02.88 the men are there digging sand, the oxen are working. 00:32:02.92\00:32:06.99 And when our one day church crew 00:32:07.02\00:32:08.66 got there to build for them, of course, 00:32:08.69\00:32:11.53 when they were carrying all this, 00:32:11.56\00:32:12.89 they didn't even know what they were carrying, 00:32:12.93\00:32:14.73 just pieces of steel, 00:32:14.76\00:32:16.10 but they could see what was being done then. 00:32:16.13\00:32:19.20 All these materials were hauled to two hours on a boat 00:32:19.23\00:32:23.61 to get to this place. 00:32:23.64\00:32:24.97 And this is their structure in the dry season. 00:32:25.01\00:32:27.78 When the rain comes, we have to put away the oxen. 00:32:27.81\00:32:31.58 There you see half of a boat in the dry season, 00:32:31.61\00:32:35.62 but in a fall season, in the rain season, 00:32:35.65\00:32:37.85 this was their old church. 00:32:37.89\00:32:39.69 This is where they met, feet were getting wet. 00:32:39.72\00:32:42.79 And this is the new church that we're able to provide 00:32:42.82\00:32:45.49 for them in an unusual way. 00:32:45.53\00:32:48.33 So we have a canoed church in Zambia. 00:32:48.36\00:32:52.73 So yeah, this is rather unusual, 00:32:52.77\00:32:54.10 isn't it? 00:32:54.14\00:32:56.00 Yes, the people there... 00:32:56.04\00:32:58.64 There are many islands like this in the rainy season 00:32:58.67\00:33:01.11 where these congregations, 00:33:01.14\00:33:03.65 they get out of their house in the morning, 00:33:03.68\00:33:06.82 they have to look around 00:33:06.85\00:33:08.18 for crocodiles might be swimming by, 00:33:08.22\00:33:10.52 and they need help. 00:33:10.55\00:33:12.85 One day churches are needed in Zambia, 00:33:12.89\00:33:16.76 probably thousands are needed as Jason said, 00:33:16.79\00:33:20.30 as we build churches, there's still more need. 00:33:20.33\00:33:24.17 So we can help, we can help fill that need. 00:33:24.20\00:33:27.50 One way that we can fill that need is that I know 00:33:27.54\00:33:30.37 that we have a sponsorship program. 00:33:30.41\00:33:32.57 So individuals can actually sponsor 00:33:32.61\00:33:35.48 a one day church in these regions for $1,000. 00:33:35.51\00:33:39.28 Now, Alan, where can they go to find out more information 00:33:39.31\00:33:42.22 if they're interested in doing this? 00:33:42.25\00:33:43.59 Well at our booth, that booth 926, 00:33:43.62\00:33:45.85 you'll find our information there or on our website, 00:33:45.89\00:33:50.09 riversidefarm.org. 00:33:50.13\00:33:51.69 Okay. 00:33:51.73\00:33:53.06 Thank you very much, gentlemen, for all that you do, 00:33:53.09\00:33:54.76 and for leading the teams to build one day churches 00:33:54.80\00:33:57.03 for people who need them. 00:33:57.07\00:33:58.40 Thank you. 00:33:58.43\00:33:59.77 Our next story comes to us to talk about children, 00:34:02.40\00:34:09.38 one of my favorite topics. 00:34:09.41\00:34:11.35 And this is International Children's Care. 00:34:11.38\00:34:14.62 And this is Rick Fleck 00:34:14.65\00:34:15.98 who is the president of the organization. 00:34:16.02\00:34:17.89 Rick, tell us a little bit about the work that ICC does? 00:34:17.92\00:34:21.32 Thank you, Debbie. 00:34:21.36\00:34:22.92 Well, it's a wonderful work. 00:34:22.96\00:34:24.79 This is our 40th anniversary this year, 00:34:24.83\00:34:27.86 and I think we've been to ASI almost every year. 00:34:27.90\00:34:30.97 So ASI is an important part 00:34:31.00\00:34:33.17 of International Children's Care. 00:34:33.20\00:34:36.64 This is a work for orphans, but we don't call them orphans. 00:34:36.67\00:34:40.34 So that's a little difference there. 00:34:40.38\00:34:42.84 We tried to do something where children, 00:34:42.88\00:34:45.18 who are orphans, get to a point 00:34:45.21\00:34:47.18 where they're no longer orphans. 00:34:47.22\00:34:49.52 So once they come to our program, 00:34:49.55\00:34:51.52 they live in a home with about 10 children, 00:34:51.55\00:34:54.79 and Adventist couple who takes care of them, 00:34:54.82\00:34:57.53 a new mommy and daddy. 00:34:57.56\00:34:59.39 That's wonderful. 00:34:59.43\00:35:00.76 And I know that even though the headquarters 00:35:00.80\00:35:02.53 for International Children's Care 00:35:02.56\00:35:04.23 is in Vancouver, Washington, 00:35:04.27\00:35:07.27 that these facilities exists throughout different areas 00:35:07.30\00:35:10.87 of the world. 00:35:10.91\00:35:12.24 Tell us about the one, 00:35:12.27\00:35:13.61 the Las Palmas in Dominican Republic, 00:35:13.64\00:35:16.44 which is our focus for the offering today? 00:35:16.48\00:35:19.35 Las Palmas was a second project that was started. 00:35:19.38\00:35:23.02 And that was started in 1982. 00:35:23.05\00:35:26.59 So it's been there for a while. 00:35:26.62\00:35:28.32 Right now, we have about 55 kids there. 00:35:28.36\00:35:31.76 But it has capacity for nearly 100. 00:35:31.79\00:35:34.43 So one of our goals this year is to start filling beds 00:35:34.46\00:35:37.60 and filling rooms 00:35:37.63\00:35:40.14 that aren't full of children right now. 00:35:40.17\00:35:42.37 And I'm looking at the pictures, 00:35:42.40\00:35:43.84 and if they show the next couple of pictures, 00:35:43.87\00:35:46.41 it brings back actually fond memories for me. 00:35:46.44\00:35:49.64 I was blessed to be able to go to Las Palmas 00:35:49.68\00:35:53.31 in the Dominican Republic 00:35:53.35\00:35:54.68 with the ASI Lake Union Chapter. 00:35:54.72\00:35:56.89 And so to be able to see 00:35:56.92\00:35:58.25 the different industries that they have there, 00:35:58.29\00:36:00.62 to actually rub shoulders with the children, 00:36:00.66\00:36:03.32 to be able to improve their roofing, 00:36:03.36\00:36:05.53 and just the number of different things, 00:36:05.56\00:36:07.26 it was clearly a need that was being met. 00:36:07.30\00:36:09.56 So that we really enjoy that very much. 00:36:09.60\00:36:11.83 They tell me that yours, one of the best groups to go. 00:36:11.87\00:36:14.37 Oh, well, we think so too. 00:36:14.40\00:36:17.41 So there are a number of industries 00:36:17.44\00:36:19.37 that often accompany the facilities 00:36:19.41\00:36:23.35 that house the children, 00:36:23.38\00:36:25.81 they may raise fruits and vegetables, 00:36:25.85\00:36:27.72 they do some different agriculture. 00:36:27.75\00:36:29.68 The focus for this year is on cows. 00:36:29.72\00:36:33.25 Tell us about cows? 00:36:33.29\00:36:35.02 Well, I don't know if you've been 00:36:35.06\00:36:36.39 by our booth at 918, 00:36:36.42\00:36:37.76 but Milky, the cow, is there, 00:36:37.79\00:36:39.96 and a lot of the kids have been doing 00:36:40.00\00:36:42.70 the Milky challenge. 00:36:42.73\00:36:44.17 And if you come by this afternoon, 00:36:44.20\00:36:46.67 the cows are in the barn for Sabbath. 00:36:46.70\00:36:48.67 But you can have your picture taken with Milky, the cow. 00:36:48.70\00:36:52.04 And so what we're doing there is increasing our dairy herd 00:36:52.07\00:36:55.54 because we realized that one cow, 00:36:55.58\00:36:58.08 even though the children don't drink much of the milk, 00:36:58.11\00:37:00.35 we sell the milk, 00:37:00.38\00:37:01.88 produces enough profit to pay the cost 00:37:01.92\00:37:05.29 of the food for one child. 00:37:05.32\00:37:07.12 So one cow equals one child. 00:37:07.16\00:37:09.82 We have about 12 cows in production. 00:37:09.86\00:37:12.79 Our goal is to get up to about 100 cows, 00:37:12.83\00:37:15.56 a herd of cows, 00:37:15.60\00:37:16.93 that will give us about 50 cows in production. 00:37:16.97\00:37:19.77 So how do you acquire these cows? 00:37:19.80\00:37:21.97 How much do they cost? 00:37:22.00\00:37:23.44 Well, interestingly enough, in the Dominican Republic, 00:37:23.47\00:37:26.51 about $1,500 dollars will buy you a cow. 00:37:26.54\00:37:29.34 But the cool thing is that the cow generally 00:37:29.38\00:37:31.91 is either pregnant or has a calf. 00:37:31.95\00:37:34.32 So we raise that calf, 00:37:34.35\00:37:36.65 and either the calf, if it's a heifer, 00:37:36.69\00:37:38.45 goes into the herd or if it's a male, 00:37:38.49\00:37:41.12 that calf is sold, 00:37:41.16\00:37:42.69 and we sell it for about $700 to $800. 00:37:42.72\00:37:45.16 So the cow ends up costing about half. 00:37:45.19\00:37:48.20 And so we can reinvest those funds 00:37:48.23\00:37:50.33 that we get from ASI 00:37:50.37\00:37:51.90 to acquire more in about a year. 00:37:51.93\00:37:54.27 And today's offering I believe 00:37:54.30\00:37:56.07 is for the sponsorship of 10 cows? 00:37:56.10\00:37:58.14 That's right. 00:37:58.17\00:37:59.51 All right, so we were excited that we will be able to add 00:37:59.54\00:38:02.04 to the support of these children 00:38:02.08\00:38:03.58 in Las Palmas. 00:38:03.61\00:38:05.28 Can you share with us, maybe a testimony or two, 00:38:05.31\00:38:08.28 what kind of impact does Las Palmas 00:38:08.32\00:38:10.65 have on the children that are there? 00:38:10.69\00:38:12.82 Well, you know, the point of getting... 00:38:12.85\00:38:14.32 Working with children is to help them 00:38:14.36\00:38:15.89 become independent. 00:38:15.92\00:38:17.26 And that's what we do as parents, you know, 00:38:17.29\00:38:18.66 from the day they're born, 00:38:18.69\00:38:20.03 you want them to learn to do for themselves 00:38:20.06\00:38:22.60 and to become independent. 00:38:22.63\00:38:23.97 So the finishing touch for children is for them 00:38:24.00\00:38:26.43 to graduate from college, or a trade school, 00:38:26.47\00:38:30.11 or something like that. 00:38:30.14\00:38:32.04 We went, my wife, Sharon, 00:38:32.07\00:38:33.41 and I were down there recently for a graduation, 00:38:33.44\00:38:36.11 and spontaneously some girls came 00:38:36.14\00:38:38.85 and talked with us in our apartment, guest room, 00:38:38.88\00:38:41.95 and they were chatting and talking about, 00:38:41.98\00:38:45.05 you know, old times 00:38:45.09\00:38:46.42 and we had known them since they were little, 00:38:46.45\00:38:48.96 and they said, 00:38:48.99\00:38:50.56 "You know, the interesting thing is that 00:38:50.59\00:38:53.19 when we're over there in the university, 00:38:53.23\00:38:54.96 and we're talking to people, and sometimes we tell them, 00:38:55.00\00:38:57.17 "We're orphans," and they go, "Orphans? 00:38:57.20\00:38:58.73 You're not orphans. 00:38:58.77\00:39:00.10 No way, how can you be orphans?" 00:39:00.14\00:39:02.84 You know, you go places, you go to the beach. 00:39:02.87\00:39:05.91 I haven't even been to the beach, they'll say. 00:39:05.94\00:39:08.04 And you have, 00:39:08.08\00:39:09.41 and you don't have a big bill at the college, 00:39:09.44\00:39:12.25 I can barely make it. 00:39:12.28\00:39:13.82 Yeah, you have to work, but you're making it. 00:39:13.85\00:39:16.65 And you play an instrument, how's that? 00:39:16.69\00:39:19.52 And so, yes, our kids do get a full life. 00:39:19.55\00:39:22.26 It's not just food and shelter, we give them an education, 00:39:22.29\00:39:26.86 they learn to play an instrument, 00:39:26.90\00:39:28.33 that we have a little symphony there, 00:39:28.36\00:39:30.47 and then, you know, they become independent. 00:39:30.50\00:39:32.90 They get out into the workforce, 00:39:32.93\00:39:34.67 they can do those kinds of things. 00:39:34.70\00:39:36.71 It's amazing how many things they learn 00:39:36.74\00:39:38.44 and then they can apply those in their life 00:39:38.47\00:39:40.28 when they're independent. 00:39:40.31\00:39:41.64 I know the children that I met and talked with, 00:39:41.68\00:39:43.41 especially some of the older ones, 00:39:43.45\00:39:45.48 they were learning how to give Bible studies. 00:39:45.51\00:39:48.05 And so they would actually be going out, in the community, 00:39:48.08\00:39:51.62 and giving Bible studies, and they learn about Jesus, 00:39:51.65\00:39:54.69 and these are our young people, 00:39:54.72\00:39:57.26 who their parents may have abandoned them, 00:39:57.29\00:40:00.03 they may have died, they have no other family, 00:40:00.06\00:40:03.33 and so they would be left to the streets 00:40:03.37\00:40:05.00 if it weren't for places like Las Palmas. 00:40:05.03\00:40:07.87 So we are extremely grateful for ICC and the work 00:40:07.90\00:40:10.71 that they do through their orphanages 00:40:10.74\00:40:12.47 to be able to provide a home to these children. 00:40:12.51\00:40:15.24 These kids go on, 00:40:15.28\00:40:16.61 and many of them come back and work for us. 00:40:16.64\00:40:19.11 And so some of them, 00:40:19.15\00:40:20.48 that we have a guy that grew up in Colombia, 00:40:20.52\00:40:22.52 now he is the business manager in El Salvador. 00:40:22.55\00:40:25.69 And he is our auditor 00:40:25.72\00:40:27.29 for all of the Spanish speaking countries. 00:40:27.32\00:40:29.42 And we have kids in the different countries, 00:40:29.46\00:40:32.16 who are now professionals, 00:40:32.19\00:40:34.03 and they're out and work for us doing God's work. 00:40:34.06\00:40:36.80 Amen, amen. 00:40:36.83\00:40:38.17 Rick, thank you so much for sharing just a little bit 00:40:38.20\00:40:40.64 about what happens through ICC, 00:40:40.67\00:40:42.90 Las Palmas in Dominican Republic. 00:40:42.94\00:40:44.27 We appreciate it. Thank you. 00:40:44.31\00:40:45.64 Thank you. 00:40:45.67\00:40:48.31 So, friends, 00:40:48.34\00:40:49.68 you see we have quite a work before us. 00:40:49.71\00:40:52.38 These four projects are just an example 00:40:52.41\00:40:54.68 of the many ministries 00:40:54.72\00:40:56.05 that are seeking to be Christ hands 00:40:56.08\00:40:58.35 and feet to meet the physical, 00:40:58.39\00:41:00.69 emotional, social, and most importantly, 00:41:00.72\00:41:04.76 the spiritual needs of those who don't yet know Jesus. 00:41:04.79\00:41:08.73 By our unusual commitment today, 00:41:08.76\00:41:12.67 we can make that a reality. 00:41:12.70\00:41:15.30 So just before the deacons come to pick up the offering, 00:41:15.34\00:41:18.91 I would like to appeal to you to appeal to us yet once again, 00:41:18.94\00:41:24.08 that we consider doing business unusual, 00:41:24.11\00:41:28.18 and that we step out in an unusual fashion 00:41:28.22\00:41:31.69 to reach out to help these ministries do the work, 00:41:31.72\00:41:36.02 do the business of sharing Christ 00:41:36.06\00:41:38.46 in their marketplace. 00:41:38.49\00:41:40.70 Just now, you may have offering envelopes with you. 00:41:40.73\00:41:44.43 Is there anyone here 00:41:44.47\00:41:45.80 that may not have an offering envelope, 00:41:45.83\00:41:47.97 would you please raise your hand 00:41:48.00\00:41:49.94 because we don't want to miss... 00:41:49.97\00:41:51.31 Have anyone miss the opportunity. 00:41:51.34\00:41:53.17 We have some individuals here up front 00:41:53.21\00:41:55.74 that need an offering envelope. 00:41:55.78\00:41:57.21 If those can be serviced, that would be great. 00:41:57.25\00:41:59.91 And we want you to take some time. 00:41:59.95\00:42:01.88 We know that you have prayed 00:42:01.92\00:42:03.25 about this that you have given it to God, 00:42:03.28\00:42:06.96 that you have given your heart, and your future, 00:42:06.99\00:42:09.72 and your resources to the Lord, 00:42:09.76\00:42:11.83 and are looking forward to what you can do 00:42:11.86\00:42:14.10 to help finish the work. 00:42:14.13\00:42:16.20 So we want you to give you some opportunity, a time, 00:42:16.23\00:42:19.63 to complete the envelope. 00:42:19.67\00:42:21.74 If you are a techie, you can actually donate online. 00:42:21.77\00:42:27.01 So I'd like to talk to our 3ABN audience 00:43:28.30\00:43:29.94 We want everyone to pull together, 00:43:29.97\00:43:32.44 so that we can support all of these ministries. 00:43:32.47\00:43:35.24 And I want to thank you 00:43:35.28\00:43:36.61 as we pray and ask the deacons to come forward 00:43:36.64\00:43:39.95 and serve you to receive the offering. 00:43:39.98\00:43:42.12 Let us pray. 00:43:42.15\00:43:44.52 Father in heaven, 00:43:44.55\00:43:45.89 I thank You so much for giving us an opportunity 00:43:45.92\00:43:48.36 to join hands with You in the finishing of this work. 00:43:48.39\00:43:51.86 You have blessed us 00:43:51.89\00:43:53.26 so that we can be a conduit of blessing for others. 00:43:53.29\00:43:57.17 I ask now that even, even now 00:43:57.20\00:44:00.07 Your Holy Spirit would just preside 00:44:00.10\00:44:02.17 over this place that You would encourage us 00:44:02.20\00:44:05.67 and give us the courage to give what You have given us, 00:44:05.71\00:44:09.84 so that others can learn about You, 00:44:09.88\00:44:11.65 and that You can come soon and we can go home. 00:44:11.68\00:44:14.98 Thank you so much. 00:44:15.02\00:44:16.42 In Jesus' name I pray, amen. 00:44:16.45\00:44:18.92 About a few weeks ago, 00:47:16.13\00:47:17.50 I had a very interesting experience 00:47:17.53\00:47:20.77 in Taiwan. 00:47:20.80\00:47:22.14 I was eating with one of the pastors. 00:47:22.17\00:47:24.81 While we were eating, 00:47:24.84\00:47:26.17 he took out his smartphone and he showed me some pictures. 00:47:26.21\00:47:30.65 And he said, 00:47:30.68\00:47:32.01 "I baptized this person last week." 00:47:32.05\00:47:34.58 And then he showed another person, 00:47:34.62\00:47:36.18 "I baptized this person," another person. 00:47:36.22\00:47:38.69 And in fact, he said he has 70 names 00:47:38.72\00:47:41.96 in his smartphone, 00:47:41.99\00:47:43.53 and he's praying for them every day 00:47:43.56\00:47:45.73 and he's looking for an opportunity 00:47:45.76\00:47:47.63 to give Bible study to them, 00:47:47.66\00:47:49.26 and he's baptizing them one by one. 00:47:49.30\00:47:52.17 I was inspired. 00:47:52.20\00:47:54.14 Immediately I repented of my sin, 00:47:54.17\00:47:56.84 and then I began to develop list 00:47:56.87\00:47:59.94 on my smartphone too. 00:47:59.97\00:48:01.61 So I have quite a few names on smartphone. 00:48:01.64\00:48:04.01 I'm praying for them. 00:48:04.05\00:48:05.55 And then I want to be an example 00:48:05.58\00:48:08.82 to all our church members 00:48:08.85\00:48:10.69 that we need to be involved in the mission of the church. 00:48:10.72\00:48:14.69 My dear, brothers and sisters, 00:48:14.72\00:48:16.62 we believe that Jesus is coming soon, 00:48:16.66\00:48:19.46 and we have to finish the gospel as soon as possible. 00:48:19.49\00:48:23.00 But pastors and paid lay workers 00:48:23.03\00:48:26.17 cannot finish the work alone. 00:48:26.20\00:48:28.50 All, we all lay people and then pastors, 00:48:28.54\00:48:31.51 we have to really work together to finish the gospel work. 00:48:31.54\00:48:35.08 I'm so glad that in our church, 00:48:35.11\00:48:37.35 we have many dedicated lay people. 00:48:37.38\00:48:40.55 I really appreciate that. 00:48:40.58\00:48:42.65 And let us continue working together 00:48:42.68\00:48:45.25 with the same spirit 00:48:45.29\00:48:47.39 to finish the work in our generation. 00:48:47.42\00:48:50.49 Maranatha, Jesus is coming very soon. 00:48:50.53\00:48:53.73
