I'm happy to be here. 00:04:11.81\00:04:13.15 Why don't you tell us a little bit about this project 00:04:13.18\00:04:15.58 that we just saw on the video. 00:04:15.62\00:04:17.35 Yes, so this project is basically... 00:04:17.39\00:04:21.66 I want to create awareness of the needs that is in Europe. 00:04:21.69\00:04:26.23 How many of you were at the GC Session in 2015, 00:04:26.26\00:04:29.50 can I see your hands? 00:04:29.56\00:04:31.27 So, when we were at the GC Session... 00:04:31.30\00:04:33.80 the Secretary... he gave a report 00:04:33.84\00:04:36.71 about what the statistics were like, 00:04:36.74\00:04:39.54 about the baptisms all around the world, right, 00:04:39.57\00:04:43.81 and if you look at the slides, 00:04:43.85\00:04:45.95 we actually can see that Europe 00:04:45.98\00:04:47.98 actually has become a mission field. 00:04:48.02\00:04:50.69 So, when you see... yeah, Europe has become a mission field 00:04:50.75\00:04:54.02 and we started calling this the Post-Christian Triangle, 00:04:54.06\00:04:57.23 if you see the next slide, 00:04:57.26\00:04:58.59 you can see that 97% of all baptisms in our church 00:04:58.63\00:05:02.86 are actually in global south, 00:05:02.90\00:05:04.93 that's the orange area on that map 00:05:04.97\00:05:07.50 and then only 3% is in the blue and the red area 00:05:07.54\00:05:12.57 and then, if you go to the next slide, 00:05:12.61\00:05:15.14 this is the graph that the GC Secretary actually showed 00:05:15.18\00:05:19.51 at the G.C. and then, if you look, 00:05:19.55\00:05:21.95 these are the 13 Divisions 00:05:21.98\00:05:23.39 and the baptisms over five years in those divisions 00:05:23.42\00:05:26.22 and when... when I looked at those slides, 00:05:26.25\00:05:28.82 I noticed that some of the Divisions 00:05:28.86\00:05:32.33 didn't have so many baptisms, 00:05:32.36\00:05:34.70 and if you look closer, 00:05:34.76\00:05:37.10 can you guess which three divisions, 00:05:37.13\00:05:40.34 are in the European Field? 00:05:40.37\00:05:43.17 If you go to the next slide, can you see them? 00:05:43.20\00:05:48.34 Interviewer: You can barely see them. 00:05:48.38\00:05:50.95 You can barely see them, exactly, 00:05:50.98\00:05:53.45 you can barely see that there's actually baptisms happening 00:05:53.48\00:05:57.39 in the European Divisions 00:05:57.42\00:05:59.42 and that's when I realized, 00:05:59.45\00:06:01.42 "Whoa, Europe has become a mission field" 00:06:01.46\00:06:04.23 and... and this is something that I think 00:06:04.26\00:06:07.03 we need to do something about 00:06:07.06\00:06:08.40 and... and it's actually something 00:06:08.43\00:06:09.93 that maybe people don't realize, 00:06:09.96\00:06:11.50 but... yeah, Europe... that used to send out missionaries 00:06:11.53\00:06:14.84 has now become a mission field. 00:06:14.87\00:06:16.20 So, you said that we need to do something about it 00:06:16.24\00:06:18.34 so why don't you tell us what we can do about it 00:06:18.37\00:06:20.54 to help the situation. 00:06:20.58\00:06:21.91 Yeah, well, one... I just want to share one story, 00:06:21.94\00:06:24.81 for example, that... 00:06:24.85\00:06:26.18 that when we got in contact with one of... an Atheist... 00:06:26.21\00:06:29.78 German Atheist... and he... 00:06:29.82\00:06:31.42 he actually got in contact with our school 00:06:31.45\00:06:33.86 and he got convicted about... there's something different, 00:06:33.89\00:06:36.89 we shared our message with him 00:06:36.93\00:06:38.69 and he got so convicted that he decided... 00:06:38.73\00:06:41.00 he wanted to apply to the mission school, 00:06:41.03\00:06:43.06 he got trained... how to reach the secular mind... 00:06:43.10\00:06:45.80 and then, now he's back in the mission field 00:06:45.83\00:06:48.67 and he's reaching people in Germany with that 00:06:48.70\00:06:51.51 so, how can you get involved? 00:06:51.54\00:06:53.01 The last slide... you can see... well... 00:06:53.04\00:06:55.18 obviously you can pray for this mission field, 00:06:55.21\00:06:58.01 you can get training at a mission school, 00:06:58.05\00:07:00.82 on how to reach the secular mind 00:07:00.85\00:07:02.18 or you can serve in a European Ministry 00:07:02.22\00:07:04.42 or you can donate to that cause so... 00:07:04.45\00:07:06.59 so, please get involved and think about Europe 00:07:06.65\00:07:09.12 in your plans... in your minds... in your prayers 00:07:09.16\00:07:11.56 please join us in reaching this important mission field. 00:07:11.59\00:07:14.56 Thank you so much, God bless you. 00:07:14.60\00:07:16.90 Last week, we were discussing your job. 00:07:16.97\00:07:19.47 Has your work situation improved? 00:07:19.50\00:07:21.84 Ah Doc, it's... it's terrible... 00:07:21.87\00:07:24.11 and I don't see any way out of my problem, 00:07:24.14\00:07:26.91 I'm having a hard time finding good employees 00:07:26.94\00:07:29.44 and I just need so many different kinds... 00:07:29.48\00:07:31.91 volunteers, full-time missionaries... students... 00:07:31.95\00:07:34.78 I always have a position that needs to be filled 00:07:34.82\00:07:37.45 but it feels like it's more a matter of luck, 00:07:37.49\00:07:39.95 sometimes, you find the right person 00:07:40.02\00:07:42.72 but usually then they're snatched up by someone else 00:07:42.76\00:07:45.03 or they find somewhere else to go... 00:07:45.06\00:07:46.80 by the time you're done with all of the committees 00:07:46.83\00:07:48.46 and paper work... 00:07:48.50\00:07:49.90 it's kind of like shopping but when you get to the store, 00:07:49.93\00:07:53.44 you realize that someone else has already chosen 00:07:53.47\00:07:55.80 your ideal candidate 00:07:55.84\00:07:57.17 and there they are... pushing them into their carts 00:07:57.21\00:07:58.91 and loading them into their cars... 00:07:58.94\00:08:00.28 "Full disclosure... I'm already taken. " 00:08:00.31\00:08:02.94 Meanwhile, you walk into the store, 00:08:02.98\00:08:05.08 just to find that all the candidates 00:08:05.11\00:08:07.18 have already been picked over, 00:08:07.22\00:08:08.72 it's... it's really discouraging... 00:08:08.75\00:08:10.25 finding the right person is really rare. 00:08:10.29\00:08:13.19 Well, let's try an exercise, 00:08:13.22\00:08:15.26 I want you to imagine a better system to find people. 00:08:15.29\00:08:19.36 What would that look like? 00:08:19.39\00:08:21.16 Sure, at this point, I'm willing to try anything. 00:08:21.20\00:08:24.00 So, first, it would all be online, 00:08:24.03\00:08:27.07 the type of thing that you can do on your Tablet... 00:08:27.10\00:08:29.40 Smartphone and even your TV... 00:08:29.44\00:08:31.27 something that you can do anywhere 00:08:31.31\00:08:33.38 and instead of a potential employee 00:08:33.41\00:08:35.34 going to each Organization's website 00:08:35.38\00:08:37.21 just to fill up multiple applications, 00:08:37.25\00:08:39.25 they can just go to one central place 00:08:39.28\00:08:41.28 and streamline the process. 00:08:41.32\00:08:42.75 We even have all the information online 00:08:42.78\00:08:45.39 so that they know what immunizations to get... 00:08:45.42\00:08:47.19 how to pack... and what to expect at their destination 00:08:47.26\00:08:50.13 and it would be a place for all types of employees... 00:08:50.16\00:08:52.99 paid positions... volunteers... 00:08:53.03\00:08:54.90 I think it would even be fun if this virtual place 00:08:54.93\00:08:57.43 could be for people who can't go as missionaries 00:08:57.47\00:08:59.90 but who want the project in some way. 00:08:59.93\00:09:02.30 They could have a blog from the employees 00:09:02.34\00:09:04.67 as well as list of needs... 00:09:04.71\00:09:06.04 just one central place where people come together 00:09:06.07\00:09:09.14 to change the world, 00:09:09.18\00:09:10.51 you know, through service or by sharing resources, 00:09:10.55\00:09:12.61 I even have a name picked out. 00:09:12.65\00:09:15.15 Vivid Faith... because it would be where faith is hands-on 00:09:15.18\00:09:19.12 where faith is made real. 00:09:19.15\00:09:20.82 You would need a lot of Organizations 00:09:20.86\00:09:24.13 to buy into the idea... sign up and work together 00:09:24.16\00:09:27.66 to make this a smooth process. 00:09:27.70\00:09:29.26 Yeah, but that's the thing, 00:09:29.33\00:09:30.83 it would be in their best interest to do so. 00:09:30.87\00:09:33.10 We'll have potential employees and supporters 00:09:33.13\00:09:35.20 from all over the world going to this site, 00:09:35.24\00:09:37.24 it would be free... really... it's kind of genius 00:09:37.27\00:09:40.38 you're good at this Doc. 00:09:40.41\00:09:42.14 Wait, we have 57 minutes left. 00:09:42.18\00:09:46.01 Pause. 00:09:46.05\00:09:47.75 Good morning, it's so good to be here with you 00:09:47.78\00:09:49.38 and hopefully you've had just a little introduction 00:09:49.42\00:09:51.69 of Vivid Faith, 00:09:51.72\00:09:53.22 but I want to tell you just a little bit of the background. 00:09:53.25\00:09:55.62 Several years ago, 00:09:55.66\00:09:57.73 I was sitting at the General Conference 00:09:57.79\00:09:59.56 in a meeting there 00:09:59.59\00:10:00.93 and an individual got up 00:10:00.96\00:10:02.73 and he basically presented this concept 00:10:02.76\00:10:07.00 and immediately when he sat down I went to see him 00:10:07.04\00:10:09.40 and I said, "I love this idea, 00:10:09.47\00:10:11.61 we want to find a way to connect it with ASI 00:10:11.64\00:10:13.81 and with all the supporting ministries 00:10:13.84\00:10:15.98 and that has happened. 00:10:16.01\00:10:18.05 With this amazing website 00:10:18.11\00:10:20.12 which we're going to launch this fall. 00:10:20.15\00:10:21.92 I have Fylvia with me this morning, 00:10:21.95\00:10:23.69 Fylvia Kline is the Director for Vivid Faith. 00:10:23.72\00:10:26.59 How is Vivid Faith connected to the church? 00:10:26.62\00:10:29.46 It's an initiative of the General Conference 00:10:29.49\00:10:32.93 to create a space where church-owned entities 00:10:32.96\00:10:36.33 and supporting ministries can post their volunteer needs 00:10:36.36\00:10:39.93 and also find volunteers to meet those needs. 00:10:39.97\00:10:42.60 It's been in the making for three years 00:10:42.64\00:10:44.67 and it's going to finally be here in the end of 2018. 00:10:44.71\00:10:47.71 Let me ask you a question here, 00:10:47.74\00:10:49.08 how many of you from supporting ministries 00:10:49.11\00:10:51.81 have need of people... 00:10:51.85\00:10:53.95 volunteers or employees to come and help you? 00:10:53.98\00:10:56.22 Is anyone else in my book, 00:10:56.25\00:10:57.72 yes, thank you, see those hands out there, 00:10:57.75\00:10:59.55 Folks, this is going to be a great tool for us to use 00:10:59.59\00:11:03.46 because it's going to connect the whole Adventist Church 00:11:03.49\00:11:07.40 and help us to see potential people to come and help us 00:11:07.43\00:11:11.33 as well as a place to post their needs. 00:11:11.37\00:11:13.50 Now, this is more than just a website for this, 00:11:13.54\00:11:16.50 tell us, Fylvia, what else is this? 00:11:16.54\00:11:18.47 It's going to be more than a convenient place 00:11:18.51\00:11:21.41 to find mission opportunities, 00:11:21.44\00:11:24.11 it's going to be a virtual place for outreach. 00:11:24.15\00:11:27.18 It's going to be an inclusive community 00:11:27.22\00:11:30.05 not just for volunteers and not just for Adventists, 00:11:30.09\00:11:35.19 it's going to be different in the sense that 00:11:35.22\00:11:38.16 you don't have to want to volunteer, 00:11:38.19\00:11:41.03 to use Vivid Faith. 00:11:41.06\00:11:42.76 You can just come there to observe... to learn... 00:11:42.80\00:11:45.77 to cheer someone else who's on a mission trip. 00:11:45.80\00:11:49.27 So, it's for... say the son who's left the church, 00:11:49.30\00:11:52.71 he hangs out in Vivid Faith 00:11:52.74\00:11:55.08 to watch his parents who are now retiring 00:11:55.11\00:11:58.21 and who are volunteering. 00:11:58.28\00:12:00.62 It's for that curious neighbor 00:12:00.65\00:12:02.68 who wonders why you go on a mission trip every summer, 00:12:02.72\00:12:06.05 it's for that new church member who's not quite ready to do 00:12:06.09\00:12:10.19 more than church on Sabbath. 00:12:10.23\00:12:12.69 So, all these people will be on Vivid Faith 00:12:12.73\00:12:15.36 to vicariously experience a life of compassion and service 00:12:15.40\00:12:20.20 and through that vicarious experience, 00:12:20.24\00:12:24.27 will, maybe, one day connect or re-connect 00:12:24.31\00:12:27.34 to a local Seventh-day Adventist Church. 00:12:27.38\00:12:30.31 So, let's play this out for just a moment here, 00:12:30.35\00:12:33.75 I... I'm in ministry, I want to use Vivid Faith 00:12:33.78\00:12:37.09 to help find people that can help in the ministry 00:12:37.12\00:12:40.39 that' I'm doing... what would I do? 00:12:40.46\00:12:43.22 Come to Booth 208 while you're here. 00:12:43.29\00:12:46.06 Okay, so if you're in ministry 00:12:46.09\00:12:48.53 who wants to sign up to use this service, 00:12:48.56\00:12:50.80 go to Booth 208 and see Fylvia, 00:12:50.83\00:12:53.74 she can help you through the process 00:12:53.77\00:12:55.50 of understanding what to do. 00:12:55.54\00:12:56.87 Or send us an e-mail at info@vividfaith. com 00:12:56.91\00:13:01.98 we want to fill this website up with volunteer opportunities 00:13:02.01\00:13:07.15 that are open in 2019 00:13:07.22\00:13:09.55 because our App is going to launch by the end of this year 00:13:09.58\00:13:13.25 so when the App launches 00:13:13.29\00:13:14.92 and people load that App on their phone 00:13:14.99\00:13:17.13 and they look for mission opportunities, 00:13:17.16\00:13:19.26 we want all of your ministries.. all of the ministries here 00:13:19.29\00:13:22.16 on there 00:13:22.20\00:13:23.77 with mission opportunities for all the young people 00:13:23.80\00:13:26.80 whether they're young or old or in-between... 00:13:26.84\00:13:28.60 who want to serve. 00:13:28.64\00:13:29.97 Now, let me tell you a little secret, 00:13:30.01\00:13:31.81 this is just being launched... 00:13:31.87\00:13:33.78 this is something very new, 00:13:33.81\00:13:35.68 in fact, this is your first main event you're doing 00:13:35.71\00:13:39.55 in actually opening it up, right. 00:13:39.61\00:13:41.42 Fylvia: Yeah, it's so new that I don't start my job 00:13:41.45\00:13:44.62 till next week. 00:13:44.65\00:13:45.99 Well, thank you for working early, okay 00:13:46.02\00:13:50.73 and Fylvia, you said something interesting, 00:13:50.76\00:13:53.56 it can even be used by non-Adventists. 00:13:53.60\00:13:56.53 Now that would be a situation... it would be like observers or... 00:13:56.56\00:13:59.10 Fylvia: Yes. 00:13:59.13\00:14:00.47 But the volunteers themselves are going to be 00:14:00.50\00:14:02.87 Seventh-day Adventist volunteers 00:14:02.90\00:14:05.34 coming into the System available for these ministries to use. 00:14:05.37\00:14:09.34 That's right, unless of course there's an ASI ministry here 00:14:09.38\00:14:13.31 that accepts non-volunteers... 00:14:13.35\00:14:15.45 Non-Adventists volunteers. 00:14:15.48\00:14:17.52 Okay, all right, so you can specify that 00:14:17.55\00:14:19.22 as you set up your ministry as receiving volunteers... 00:14:19.25\00:14:22.46 you can set all that up. 00:14:22.52\00:14:23.86 This is an exciting opportunity, 00:14:23.89\00:14:25.86 I'm really looking forward to how God is going to bless this, 00:14:25.89\00:14:28.40 it's a real opportunity for us as ministries 00:14:28.43\00:14:31.03 to join with the church... 00:14:31.10\00:14:32.43 support the work that is happening... 00:14:32.47\00:14:33.84 support mission around the world, 00:14:33.87\00:14:35.50 and I hope and pray this is going to be a blessing 00:14:35.54\00:14:37.64 to many ministries here today. 00:14:37.67\00:14:39.01 Fylvia: I'm very excited. 00:14:39.04\00:14:40.38 Yes, go to Booth 208... " 00:15:11.37\00:15:14.14 and they put my gun here 00:15:14.18\00:15:15.74 and they said, "No, you should be killed. " 00:15:15.78\00:15:17.61 And in that moment, I remembered... 00:15:17.65\00:15:21.05 I didn't know how to pray. 00:15:21.08\00:15:23.49 but in my heart, I just kneeled down, 00:15:23.52\00:15:26.55 head down, then I said, "Oh, please, my God! Help me. 00:15:26.59\00:15:30.16 If I escape this place, I should serve you all the time!" 00:15:30.19\00:15:33.70 The number of people fleeing Congo in 2016 00:15:33.73\00:15:36.83 surpassed the number of refugees fleeing Syria 00:15:36.87\00:15:40.04 in the same time period. 00:15:40.07\00:15:41.40 Yet the world knows little of the current refugee crisis 00:15:41.44\00:15:44.54 in Rwanda. 00:15:44.57\00:15:45.91 Rwandan High Schools are located in the cities... 00:15:45.94\00:15:48.78 a long ways away from the camps. 00:15:48.81\00:15:50.55 Often when returning from class, 00:15:50.58\00:15:52.71 the students find nothing to eat 00:15:52.75\00:15:54.78 then the students have to get up early 00:15:54.82\00:15:56.82 and walk back to school on an empty stomach. 00:15:56.85\00:15:59.29 Brave girls who will walk as much as five miles one way 00:15:59.32\00:16:02.89 risk assault or rape, 00:16:02.92\00:16:04.56 it happens routinely. 00:16:04.59\00:16:06.19 In 2015, Hans and Mindy Thygeson started Impact Hope... 00:16:06.23\00:16:11.27 an Organization that sends at-risk refugee youth 00:16:11.30\00:16:14.50 to safe Adventist Boarding schools in Rwanda. 00:16:14.54\00:16:17.47 For $50 a month, a sponsor gives a young person an education 00:16:17.51\00:16:22.61 and a vocational skill 00:16:22.64\00:16:23.98 plus safety and enough to eat 00:16:24.01\00:16:26.05 and all that in an environment 00:16:26.08\00:16:28.18 that will build relationships with Jesus 00:16:28.22\00:16:30.29 and create a life of service to those around them. 00:16:30.32\00:16:33.32 Music... and speaking in another language. 00:16:33.36\00:16:36.16 You can raise your hand. 00:16:36.19\00:16:39.56 There are other ways you can help too. 00:16:39.59\00:16:41.03 You can volunteer, pray and share with others 00:16:41.06\00:16:44.53 how students in Rwanda's refugee camps find hope... 00:16:44.57\00:16:47.34 visit: impact-hope. org to find out more... 00:16:47.37\00:16:50.91 you can impact hope. 00:16:50.94\00:16:53.41 Music... 00:16:53.44\00:17:00.72 more music. 00:17:00.75\00:17:06.25 Pause... 00:17:06.29\00:17:11.73 Well, it certainly seems that Impact Hope 00:17:11.76\00:17:14.40 is impacting hope in Rwanda. 00:17:14.43\00:17:16.77 This is Hans and Mindy Thygeson 00:17:16.83\00:17:19.10 and they are the co-founders of Impact Hope 00:17:19.13\00:17:21.87 and I have a question, 00:17:21.90\00:17:23.51 how is it that a Real Estate Developer and a Nurse 00:17:23.54\00:17:27.48 are involved in providing support to Rwandan refugees? 00:17:27.51\00:17:31.98 Well, we've been praying to get involved in ministry 00:17:32.01\00:17:36.18 and working diligently 00:17:36.22\00:17:38.49 at trying to find a way that God could use us. 00:17:38.55\00:17:40.96 We had a special desire to get involved in a ministry 00:17:40.99\00:17:45.09 where we could serve the least of these 00:17:45.13\00:17:47.46 as Jesus talks about in Matthew 25. 00:17:47.50\00:17:49.80 About that time, we heard about the refugees in Rwanda 00:17:49.83\00:17:54.90 and that there was nearly 00:17:54.94\00:17:56.27 a 100,000 Seventh-day Adventist refugees 00:17:56.30\00:17:59.37 living in a number of camps in Rwanda 00:17:59.44\00:18:02.58 because they had to flee the persecution in the Congo. 00:18:02.61\00:18:05.85 After a trip there, we met these devout Seventh-day Adventists 00:18:05.88\00:18:10.92 that had a strong faith in Christ 00:18:10.95\00:18:14.02 and we said... we have to do something for these people 00:18:14.06\00:18:17.96 so, we met with the Adventist Union of Rwanda 00:18:17.99\00:18:21.06 and they helped us put together a program 00:18:21.10\00:18:24.10 to educate these needy students 00:18:24.17\00:18:28.50 in safe Adventist Boarding schools. 00:18:28.54\00:18:31.41 So, you're providing some support 00:18:31.47\00:18:34.28 so they can actually go to the Boarding Schools, 00:18:34.31\00:18:36.44 how is that you started the vocational program, Mindy? 00:18:36.48\00:18:39.21 Well, it was our first year... almost the end of the first year 00:18:39.25\00:18:43.49 and this boy named Patrick... 00:18:43.52\00:18:44.92 actually the one who's on the video... 00:18:44.95\00:18:46.42 he came up to me and he said, 00:18:46.45\00:18:48.09 "Mom, is there any way that we can stay at the school 00:18:48.12\00:18:50.93 during our summer vacation?" 00:18:50.96\00:18:52.89 Because the refugees realize the dangers of being in the camps 00:18:52.93\00:18:57.10 not enough food to eat... nothing to do... 00:18:57.13\00:19:00.04 and no money... 00:19:00.07\00:19:01.50 and so, we weren't prepared financially 00:19:01.54\00:19:04.51 for the extra couple of months of school fees 00:19:04.54\00:19:07.88 and learning as we go we realized 00:19:07.91\00:19:10.91 a need for a vocation skill for our students 00:19:10.95\00:19:13.72 it took a year in the making and working with ADRA Rwanda, 00:19:13.78\00:19:17.42 we developed a vocational training program 00:19:17.45\00:19:20.09 that started in December of 2017 00:19:20.12\00:19:22.56 and at the end of that six-week program, 00:19:22.62\00:19:25.63 we had... all 350 at the time of our refugee students 00:19:25.66\00:19:29.80 attending one vocation... they took... 00:19:29.83\00:19:32.60 they had the option of hair dressing, sewing, 00:19:32.63\00:19:36.30 electricity, permaculture which is a form of agriculture 00:19:36.34\00:19:40.68 and plumbing... I think that's the one I didn't say 00:19:40.74\00:19:44.41 and after that six-week program, 00:19:44.45\00:19:46.92 representatives from the United Nations 00:19:46.95\00:19:49.28 and Government of Rwanda were in attendance 00:19:49.32\00:19:51.65 at our closing ceremony 00:19:51.69\00:19:53.02 they said there had never been such a program like that 00:19:53.05\00:19:55.96 in Rwanda... helping refugees 00:19:56.02\00:19:58.09 and they even said, 00:19:58.13\00:19:59.49 "Is there any way that you can continue this Program 00:19:59.53\00:20:02.03 on a year-round basis?" 00:20:02.06\00:20:03.53 Enter ASI... 00:20:03.57\00:20:05.57 so that has something to do with this year's offering 00:20:05.60\00:20:08.64 in support of Impact Hope. 00:20:08.67\00:20:10.01 How is that going to help expand this Program? 00:20:10.04\00:20:12.21 Well, as Mindy said, 00:20:12.27\00:20:16.51 the UN and the Rwandan Union of Seventh-day Adventists 00:20:16.54\00:20:20.12 were very excited about this Program 00:20:20.15\00:20:22.22 and early in this year, they came to us and said, 00:20:22.25\00:20:25.79 "Can we run this Program... 00:20:25.82\00:20:27.66 this trade school that you've started year round?" 00:20:27.69\00:20:30.29 So, with the help of ASI, 00:20:30.33\00:20:34.40 we have now launched this Trade School year around 00:20:34.43\00:20:38.33 which has created a great opportunity 00:20:38.37\00:20:40.00 for this Adventist Academy 00:20:40.04\00:20:42.50 and it's not only for the Academy 00:20:42.54\00:20:45.74 but the students now have a chance to create their own jobs 00:20:45.77\00:20:50.58 if not, get a job for somebody else. 00:20:50.65\00:20:52.91 That's wonderful, so Mindy, tell me... 00:20:52.95\00:20:55.18 how is it that we can help beyond the offering? 00:20:55.22\00:20:59.25 Well, Impact Hope is a sponsorship-based program, 00:20:59.29\00:21:03.26 actually, after the Program was printed, 00:21:03.29\00:21:06.66 we now have... it says 411... 00:21:06.70\00:21:09.10 we now have 611 sponsored students 00:21:09.13\00:21:12.23 with Impact Hope attending safe Adventist Boarding Schools 00:21:12.27\00:21:15.54 but we know from the statistics, from the United Nations' webpage 00:21:15.64\00:21:19.47 there are over 10,000 refugee Adventist Youth in the Camps 00:21:19.51\00:21:24.28 who don't have an opportunity to study a secondary education 00:21:24.31\00:21:28.98 and because we believe very strongly 00:21:29.05\00:21:32.29 in helping the household of the faith first, 00:21:32.32\00:21:34.86 as Ellen White says, 00:21:34.89\00:21:36.76 "We believe that these people are our responsibility 00:21:36.79\00:21:39.33 and that we need to take care of 00:21:39.36\00:21:41.40 our Adventist global church family 00:21:41.43\00:21:43.93 so, we're asking to partner with you. 00:21:43.97\00:21:46.37 As you saw on the video, it's only $50 a month 00:21:46.40\00:21:49.47 to sponsor a young person to an Adventist Boarding School 00:21:49.50\00:21:52.87 which includes three meals a day... 00:21:52.91\00:21:54.68 all their needs provided 00:21:54.74\00:21:56.54 including a mattress which they've never slept on, 00:21:56.58\00:21:59.28 sheets and blankets, 00:21:59.31\00:22:00.65 two sets of uniforms and all their needs. 00:22:00.68\00:22:02.85 It's not that much 00:22:02.88\00:22:05.09 so that's where we are coming to ASI... to you... 00:22:05.12\00:22:09.16 seeing if we can partner together... 00:22:09.19\00:22:11.26 we can help empty the camps 00:22:11.29\00:22:13.06 from these generational refugees who have no hope 00:22:13.09\00:22:17.33 and we just thank you for the opportunity 00:22:17.37\00:22:20.80 and if you have any questions, 00:22:20.84\00:22:22.20 we would love to see you at our Booth. 00:22:22.24\00:22:23.91 We're located at 705. 00:22:23.94\00:22:26.07 Thank you very much, Mindy and Hans. 00:22:26.11\00:22:28.24 God bless you as you continue to impact young people's lives 00:22:28.28\00:22:31.71 for hope... thank you. 00:22:31.75\00:22:33.25 Mindy: Thank you so much. 00:22:33.28\00:22:34.68 Our next offering in action is to talk with someone 00:22:34.75\00:22:39.52 that is no stranger to many of us, 00:22:39.55\00:22:41.06 Claus Nybo is the President of Lifestyle TV 00:22:41.09\00:22:44.19 and we've had fun up here before, Claus... 00:22:44.23\00:22:46.70 Claus: We have. 00:22:46.73\00:22:48.20 Interviewer: And I'm excited to be able to share with them 00:22:48.26\00:22:50.63 some of the things that you've shared with me, 00:22:50.67\00:22:52.33 so, first... I have three questions. 00:22:52.37\00:22:54.77 First I want to know... 00:22:54.80\00:22:56.17 and or for those who may not be familiar with Lifestyle TV, 00:22:56.20\00:22:59.87 tell us a little bit of background... 00:22:59.91\00:23:01.34 what's the purpose and, you know, the mission... 00:23:01.38\00:23:04.55 so we'll start with that as a two-part-one question. 00:23:04.58\00:23:07.32 As most of you know, 00:23:07.35\00:23:08.78 Lifestyle TV is broadcasting in Scandinavia 00:23:08.82\00:23:12.25 reaching one of the most secular parts of the world. 00:23:12.29\00:23:14.36 We have satellite and internet and for 13 years now, 00:23:14.39\00:23:17.96 we have been on the air 00:23:17.99\00:23:19.83 which is a miracle in itself, Debbie. 00:23:19.86\00:23:21.33 Hmmm... hmmm... that is phenomenal 00:23:21.36\00:23:23.06 and so... you've been in existence for 13 years, 00:23:23.10\00:23:27.00 you've come to a point where you might be ready to expand 00:23:27.04\00:23:30.24 so tell us about some of your expansion efforts 00:23:30.27\00:23:32.47 and this is where some of what ASI is coming 00:23:32.51\00:23:34.31 to provide some help. 00:23:34.34\00:23:35.68 Amen, working in a small environment, 00:23:35.71\00:23:39.61 we have had a Studio that really was built 00:23:39.65\00:23:42.15 to be a small living room 00:23:42.18\00:23:43.52 and working out of that for 13 years 00:23:43.55\00:23:45.79 for satellite broadcasting... 00:23:45.82\00:23:47.16 that gets a little claustrophobic 00:23:47.19\00:23:48.66 and it was hard to really do what we wanted to do 00:23:48.69\00:23:51.39 so we prayed for the Lord to provide for a new Studio 00:23:51.43\00:23:54.23 and funding was coming in... a lot of people were responding, 00:23:54.26\00:23:57.37 we had gotten a building permit 00:23:57.40\00:23:59.03 and we even went as far, Debbie, as having groundbreaking 00:23:59.07\00:24:02.44 for building this new Studio 00:24:02.47\00:24:04.34 but the weather wasn't cooperating 00:24:04.37\00:24:06.31 and it was raining and raining and last summer, it was so wet 00:24:06.34\00:24:10.38 that we literally couldn't even get in the field 00:24:10.41\00:24:12.41 and we're getting delayed in the process 00:24:12.45\00:24:14.82 and I think God had a different plan 00:24:14.85\00:24:16.62 and so, to jump into that story, 00:24:16.65\00:24:20.96 right as we were getting ready to build 00:24:20.99\00:24:23.96 and that we thought that we had everything lined up 00:24:23.99\00:24:26.56 to build this new Studio, 00:24:26.59\00:24:28.26 it seemed like the Lord had different plans 00:24:28.30\00:24:31.00 and so, He directed us to a property 00:24:31.03\00:24:33.70 that was six hours north of where we are 00:24:33.74\00:24:36.77 and that already had a Studio in place. 00:24:36.81\00:24:39.81 We started looking at it 00:24:39.84\00:24:41.48 and the whole thought was very hard 00:24:41.51\00:24:44.51 because we have been living personally for 20 years 00:24:44.55\00:24:46.05 where we are... 00:24:46.08\00:24:47.42 had no idea... no interest in moving... 00:24:47.45\00:24:49.78 we finally felt impressed 00:24:49.82\00:24:52.65 that we needed to at least go see this place 00:24:52.69\00:24:54.62 so, at our ASI Convention last New Year in Scandinavia, 00:24:54.66\00:25:00.13 we were basically very close 00:25:00.16\00:25:02.73 and so we said, "Well, we'll drop by... " 00:25:02.76\00:25:04.10 so I had arranged with the Realtor 00:25:04.13\00:25:05.47 that we were going to see the place. 00:25:05.50\00:25:06.84 Driving there... I called him... and he was very apologetic, 00:25:06.87\00:25:11.07 he says, "Oh, I am so sorry, I have failed to communicate 00:25:11.14\00:25:15.61 that you are coming today 00:25:15.64\00:25:17.25 and the owner is on vacation in Spain 00:25:17.28\00:25:19.31 and is not there and I don't have a key 00:25:19.35\00:25:21.88 and I'm three hours away, 00:25:21.92\00:25:23.25 but at least you can go look in the windows. 00:25:23.28\00:25:25.69 So, I was like, "Okay, well, we'll do that" 00:25:25.72\00:25:28.36 and we did it and it was not very exciting... 00:25:28.39\00:25:30.99 we couldn't even see in the Studio 00:25:31.03\00:25:32.69 because, you know, Studios generally don't have windows. 00:25:32.73\00:25:36.16 So, we left the place and we had just driven out of there 00:25:36.20\00:25:39.10 and he calls back and he says, "You can't believe it, 00:25:39.13\00:25:42.00 but the owner just called me 00:25:42.04\00:25:43.87 and he got home from vacation unexpectedly a day early 00:25:43.91\00:25:46.68 and is on his way to the property, 00:25:46.71\00:25:48.44 he will be there in five minutes can you wait?" 00:25:48.48\00:25:50.25 We're like, "Well, we'll turn around" 00:25:50.28\00:25:52.38 long story short, we turned around, 00:25:52.41\00:25:54.25 he was already there when we got there, 00:25:54.28\00:25:55.72 we get out of the car 00:25:55.75\00:25:57.09 and he takes one look at us, Debbie, 00:25:57.12\00:25:58.65 and he says, "Where have I met you before?" 00:25:58.69\00:26:01.19 And I'm like, No, you haven't... " 00:26:01.22\00:26:03.19 well, it turned out that he had been watching Lifestyle TV 00:26:03.22\00:26:07.93 for years and recognized us immediately 00:26:07.96\00:26:10.87 as we walked up there 00:26:10.90\00:26:12.27 and he was so excited he says, 00:26:12.33\00:26:14.47 "This has to be providence" 00:26:14.50\00:26:16.60 and I think it was. 00:26:16.64\00:26:18.44 Amen, amen, so, you have some... we have a video 00:26:18.47\00:26:22.28 that you can actually walk us through 00:26:22.31\00:26:24.48 so we can actually see this Facility. 00:26:24.51\00:26:26.61 Yes, my wife was not able to be with me here 00:26:26.65\00:26:29.25 so I did the next best I could, 00:26:29.28\00:26:31.02 I had her do a voice-over for a video 00:26:31.05\00:26:33.56 of some pictures of the place, so if we can roll that now, 00:26:33.59\00:26:36.02 it will give you a little bit of an idea of what God has done. 00:26:36.06\00:26:38.39 After 13 years of broadcasting 00:26:38.46\00:26:42.46 God called Lifestyle TV to move north to Arvika, Sweden. 00:26:42.50\00:26:46.17 Instead of building a planned new studio 00:26:46.20\00:26:49.27 at the current location, 00:26:49.30\00:26:50.67 God miraculously opened the doors for something much better. 00:26:50.71\00:26:54.61 Hagegarden was built as a music and retreat center 00:26:54.64\00:26:57.81 with a large Studio for recordings and TV productions. 00:26:57.85\00:27:01.28 It's beautifully located in the forest 00:27:01.32\00:27:03.79 with a view right over a lake. 00:27:03.82\00:27:05.15 The Studio has often featured Art Exhibitions 00:27:05.19\00:27:08.16 as a backdrop to live concerts and events. 00:27:08.19\00:27:11.13 With a 46-foot ceiling, this 3,100-square-foot studio 00:27:11.16\00:27:16.30 affords many new opportunities for a variety of Productions. 00:27:16.36\00:27:19.83 Beside the Studio, it has 13 modern hotel rooms 00:27:19.87\00:27:24.01 individually designed. 00:27:24.04\00:27:26.24 The rooms open out to small private patios. 00:27:26.27\00:27:29.41 behind these large windows you'll find an attractive spa 00:27:29.44\00:27:34.02 with sauna and jacuzzi. 00:27:34.05\00:27:35.52 The cozy sitting area with a large fireplace 00:27:35.55\00:27:38.99 is perfect for fellowship 00:27:39.02\00:27:40.49 and the light Scandinavian-style dining room 00:27:40.52\00:27:43.36 gives amazing possibilities for community events. 00:27:43.39\00:27:46.46 Of course, there is a large restaurant kitchen 00:27:46.49\00:27:49.56 able to cater to several hundred people 00:27:49.60\00:27:51.83 as well as smaller special events. 00:27:51.87\00:27:53.74 Fully furnished and with a geo-thermal heating system 00:27:53.77\00:27:57.34 for keeping the running costs low, 00:27:57.41\00:27:59.21 Hagegarden was purchased 00:27:59.24\00:28:01.11 for only 1/7th of today's replacement cost. 00:28:01.14\00:28:04.25 Listen to what Ellen White wrote, 00:28:04.28\00:28:06.82 "The Lord will upon human minds in unexpected quarters. 00:28:06.85\00:28:11.15 Some who apparently are enemies of the truth 00:28:11.19\00:28:13.82 will, in God's providence, invest their means 00:28:13.86\00:28:16.22 to develop properties and erect buildings. 00:28:16.26\00:28:18.56 In time, these properties will be offered for sale 00:28:18.59\00:28:21.93 at a price far below their cost. 00:28:21.96\00:28:23.83 Our people will recognize the hand of Providence 00:28:23.87\00:28:26.97 in these offers 00:28:27.00\00:28:28.34 and will secure valuable property for use 00:28:28.37\00:28:30.64 in educational work... 00:28:30.67\00:28:32.01 Thus men of means are unconsciously preparing 00:28:32.04\00:28:34.61 auxiliaries that will enable the Lord's people 00:28:34.64\00:28:37.28 to advance His work rapidly. " 00:28:37.31\00:28:39.15 All we can say is... "to Him who is able to do exceedingly 00:28:39.18\00:28:43.55 abundantly above all that we ask or think... to Him be glory!" 00:28:43.59\00:28:48.06 Amen, isn't that beautiful? 00:28:48.09\00:28:51.43 Now, we don't have much time left 00:28:51.46\00:28:53.60 and it's obvious that it's a facility 00:28:53.63\00:28:55.60 that offers you lots of opportunities 00:28:55.63\00:28:57.57 for expanding the ministry 00:28:57.60\00:28:58.93 but I want them to hear a little bit of an impact 00:28:58.97\00:29:02.50 on people who have listened, 00:29:02.54\00:29:04.14 can you tell us one story about that. 00:29:04.17\00:29:06.31 Yes and just finishing off, this is really incredible 00:29:06.34\00:29:09.64 because the Facility here allows us to connect with Viewers 00:29:09.71\00:29:12.68 and bring them in for different kinds of health sessions... 00:29:12.71\00:29:15.68 other seminars and make personal contact. 00:29:15.72\00:29:18.09 Now, I wanted to share just one story as Debbie says, 00:29:18.15\00:29:20.92 this was really unique because... this last year, 00:29:20.96\00:29:23.96 for the first time, we were off-air for five days 00:29:23.99\00:29:27.00 because of technical problems 00:29:27.03\00:29:28.36 and we didn't know what to do to get back on, 00:29:28.40\00:29:30.93 it was an old-service system 00:29:30.97\00:29:32.30 that had been running for 12 years, 00:29:32.33\00:29:33.87 we got a mail the first day from a Viewer watching 00:29:33.90\00:29:37.61 and he writes in how he is the leader 00:29:37.64\00:29:39.74 of another Christian denomination, 00:29:39.77\00:29:41.81 but he had noticed that we were off air 00:29:41.84\00:29:44.25 and he was praying that God would bring us back on air 00:29:44.28\00:29:48.45 so that he could proclaim the truth. 00:29:48.48\00:29:50.59 The rest of us kept praying and long story short... 00:29:50.62\00:29:55.02 on the fifth day, as we are working on it, 00:29:55.06\00:29:58.63 finally the Lord gives us the idea 00:29:58.69\00:30:00.16 of trying to merge three different Servers into one 00:30:00.20\00:30:04.63 and by a miracle it worked and we got back on... 00:30:04.67\00:30:07.60 and let me just read the beginning of a mail 00:30:07.64\00:30:10.54 that I got from this same man that day. 00:30:10.57\00:30:13.34 He writes, "I was walking in the woods earlier 00:30:13.38\00:30:16.58 thanking God that He hears prayer 00:30:16.64\00:30:19.51 and that Lifestyle TV can send clear Biblical preaching 00:30:19.55\00:30:23.85 and now when I come home and switch on Lifestyle TV, 00:30:23.89\00:30:28.12 I saw that the broadcasting is working again. 00:30:28.16\00:30:31.76 God's Word is again being proclaimed 00:30:31.79\00:30:35.26 and explained on Lifestyle TV. 00:30:35.30\00:30:37.77 Thank you Jesus, amen. " 00:30:37.80\00:30:40.14 The Lord has so many people out there, Debbie, 00:30:40.17\00:30:43.10 that are just waiting to be gathered in. 00:30:43.14\00:30:45.47 This man was literally praying and thanking God 00:30:45.51\00:30:48.38 at the same time that a miracle was happening, 00:30:48.41\00:30:51.21 to get us back on air and he didn't know. 00:30:51.25\00:30:53.18 Amen, amen, thank you so much Claus for sharing 00:30:53.21\00:30:55.82 and we want to pray with you and for you 00:30:55.85\00:30:58.75 as you continue to share God's love with others. 00:30:58.79\00:31:01.26 And thank you ASI for your support... your prayers 00:31:01.29\00:31:03.73 and for part of the offering going to help us 00:31:03.76\00:31:05.69 in this new Facility this year. Farm Stew. 00:32:19.17\00:32:23.61 Music. 00:32:23.64\00:32:27.01 Joy, tell us a little bit more about Farm Stew. 00:32:27.04\00:32:31.25 First of all, what does Farm Stew mean... 00:32:31.28\00:32:33.21 it's an acronym. 00:32:33.28\00:32:34.62 Yes, it's the New Start for Africa... 00:32:34.65\00:32:36.95 so it stands for farming, attitude, rest and meals, 00:32:36.99\00:32:41.56 sanitation, temperance, enterprise and water. 00:32:41.59\00:32:45.53 And why is it important for those differences 00:32:45.59\00:32:49.50 in that particular area? 00:32:49.53\00:32:50.90 So the needs of people in the rural villages in Africa 00:32:50.93\00:32:54.74 are different than those of ours 00:32:54.77\00:32:56.44 and so, we got to meet them right where they are 00:32:56.47\00:32:58.81 and allow them to be able to thrive in their local context. 00:32:58.84\00:33:01.48 So, how does it work? 00:33:01.51\00:33:03.01 So, we actually have four teams now. 00:33:03.04\00:33:06.18 We're very excited, this time last year we had six staff, 00:33:06.21\00:33:09.15 now we have 17... 00:33:09.18\00:33:10.52 we're hoping to get 20 by the end of the year, 00:33:10.55\00:33:12.32 they are based in Uganda reaching south Sudanese refugees 00:33:12.35\00:33:16.96 and a team in Zimbabwe 00:33:17.03\00:33:18.53 and what I do and what God does through me 00:33:18.56\00:33:22.76 and through these Leaders is, they have just small groups... 00:33:22.83\00:33:27.44 small teams that are formed 00:33:27.47\00:33:29.20 and they go out into the rural villages 00:33:29.24\00:33:31.31 bringing cooking classes, agricultural classes, 00:33:31.34\00:33:34.04 water and sanitation classes into the hands of the people 00:33:34.08\00:33:37.48 and we train local leaders in each and every village 00:33:37.51\00:33:40.32 so they can train others and others and others... 00:33:40.35\00:33:43.08 and it's just going on... 00:33:43.12\00:33:44.62 we had a milestone this week, 00:33:44.65\00:33:46.09 40,000 people have been trained by Farm Stew. 00:33:46.12\00:33:48.96 Amen, so tell us some... 00:33:48.99\00:33:51.49 I know they're out and they give you reports, 00:33:51.53\00:33:54.26 have you heard from anybody recently about what's going on? 00:33:54.30\00:33:57.43 Yes, and what's so amazing is, on this little phone right here, 00:33:57.47\00:34:00.54 I can actually manage these teams, 00:34:00.60\00:34:02.87 I'm on the phone with them every week... 00:34:02.90\00:34:05.04 each team leader... we have an hour conference call 00:34:05.07\00:34:07.18 and just yesterday, I got this amazing picture 00:34:07.21\00:34:11.45 actually from Uganda, this is Betty and David 00:34:11.48\00:34:14.52 and Betty is one of our original trainers... 00:34:14.55\00:34:17.72 she has her training from Bugema University, 00:34:17.75\00:34:20.89 David was jobless... 00:34:20.92\00:34:22.82 like most of the men in these rural villages, 00:34:22.86\00:34:24.86 there are no employers 00:34:24.89\00:34:26.23 and so, David was trained to farm 00:34:26.26\00:34:30.03 our original occupation given in the Garden by God 00:34:30.07\00:34:33.34 and so, he is now growing rows and rows... 00:34:33.37\00:34:36.67 he has all these ideas... all these ideas for expansion, 00:34:36.71\00:34:39.67 he's providing food for his neighbors 00:34:39.71\00:34:41.74 and he wants to train others 00:34:41.78\00:34:43.55 and Betty says that even the... 00:34:43.58\00:34:46.15 the neighbors are proud of David's garden. 00:34:46.21\00:34:48.68 That's wonderful, so, speaking of expansion 00:34:48.72\00:34:51.19 how is this year's offering 00:34:51.22\00:34:53.15 going to assist Farm Stew in doing that? 00:34:53.19\00:34:55.59 So, we praise God... we... we really... 00:34:55.62\00:34:57.63 I was so inspired by last year's Convention that we... 00:34:57.66\00:35:00.26 we said, "Where can we go next?" 00:35:00.30\00:35:02.16 So, we actually asked the local church... the Uganda Union 00:35:02.20\00:35:05.57 and they said, "We have a million south Sudanese refugees 00:35:05.60\00:35:08.94 on the northern border of Uganda, 00:35:08.97\00:35:10.61 we need some people there, 00:35:10.67\00:35:12.07 there are a lot of Adventists there 00:35:12.11\00:35:14.51 and we can go... so actually in March, 00:35:14.54\00:35:16.54 I want to show you what we... 00:35:16.58\00:35:17.91 God opened the door and we launched... 00:35:17.95\00:35:19.51 nine months before we hoped to... 00:35:19.55\00:35:21.05 and we launched a team 00:35:21.08\00:35:22.72 and gave them... actually their own copy of our ASI Certificate. 00:35:22.75\00:35:27.06 Okay, so we have a picture that shows that. 00:35:27.09\00:35:29.02 Yes, we do... so this is Edward and I in the green shirts, 00:35:29.06\00:35:32.63 he is our Country Director for Uganda 00:35:32.66\00:35:34.73 and we're launching Doreen in the middle, 00:35:34.76\00:35:36.77 she's been a volunteer for our church for 20 years, 00:35:36.80\00:35:39.10 this is the first time she's had paid employment 00:35:39.13\00:35:41.37 with mobilizing this message but an incredibly talented woman 00:35:41.40\00:35:45.17 and then... actually two Church Elders on her side... 00:35:45.21\00:35:47.51 Paul and Joseph 00:35:47.54\00:35:48.88 who are now being trained and equipped 00:35:48.91\00:35:50.28 to help their own people 00:35:50.31\00:35:51.65 they actually live in the bitty, bitty refugee camp themselves 00:35:51.68\00:35:54.75 and they are perfect ambassadors for this message. 00:35:54.78\00:35:58.79 So, tell us a story, 00:35:58.85\00:36:00.19 some of the pictures give us an... some insight 00:36:00.22\00:36:02.59 as to what actually happens. 00:36:02.62\00:36:03.96 Okay, so Rose is one of the women that we have trained 00:36:03.99\00:36:07.66 and she actually is now growing her own food, 00:36:07.70\00:36:10.97 she's thrilled about that 00:36:11.03\00:36:12.37 and in her garden you can see her with Paul 00:36:12.40\00:36:15.50 and she has 14 children that she's caring for, 00:36:15.54\00:36:18.81 not her own but these refugees... 00:36:18.84\00:36:20.74 half of the refugees... of these million people are children 00:36:20.78\00:36:23.95 so she's bringing them in and caring for them in her own home 00:36:23.98\00:36:27.15 and you can just see... these are just ten of her kids, 00:36:27.18\00:36:30.02 can you imagine taking care of them... 00:36:30.05\00:36:32.39 one of the things we trained her on was water and sanitation, 00:36:32.42\00:36:35.52 you know, the World Health Organization 00:36:35.56\00:36:37.36 says that hand-washing is the single most important factor 00:36:37.39\00:36:41.36 in saving lives, 00:36:41.40\00:36:42.73 more effective in even than any single vaccine 00:36:42.76\00:36:44.83 or medical intervention, 00:36:44.87\00:36:46.27 so, we build what's called the "Tippy Tap" 00:36:46.30\00:36:48.44 it's a way to have running water but using very little of it 00:36:48.47\00:36:52.07 and Rose... I'm so proud of her... 00:36:52.11\00:36:53.64 she actually has two Tippy Taps not just one... 00:36:53.68\00:36:56.21 she has one by the bathroom 00:36:56.24\00:36:58.01 and one where she prepares her food in her kitchen 00:36:58.05\00:37:01.58 so she's very proud of her Tippy Taps. 00:37:01.65\00:37:03.39 That is really something, all right... Tippy Taps... 00:37:03.42\00:37:07.39 okay... 00:37:07.42\00:37:09.79 I'll tell you one other thing, she's so proud of her garden 00:37:09.82\00:37:12.69 and she grows something called "Sukuma wiki" 00:37:12.73\00:37:15.73 can you imagine what this is? 00:37:15.76\00:37:17.93 "Sukuma wiki" is a Swahili word 00:37:17.97\00:37:20.04 for the strength to get through the day, 00:37:20.07\00:37:22.07 so we know greens give us the strength to get through the day 00:37:22.10\00:37:25.11 they give us the nitric oxide that increases circulation 00:37:25.14\00:37:29.01 so it's collard greens but they love their Sukuma Wiki. 00:37:29.04\00:37:32.85 Interviewer: And I loved it, 00:37:32.88\00:37:34.62 when I was there, that's what I ate a lot of 00:37:34.65\00:37:36.32 so that was really great, 00:37:36.35\00:37:37.69 yes, so we are looking forward to what the ASI offering 00:37:37.72\00:37:41.89 is going to do to expand Farm Stew. 00:37:41.92\00:37:43.96 Yes, so we will be able to hire more staff, 00:37:43.99\00:37:46.70 we like to have teams of five 00:37:46.73\00:37:48.20 and I just want to share with you an Ellen White quote 00:37:48.26\00:37:50.43 that inspires our work, she says, 00:37:50.47\00:37:52.53 "When right methods of cultivation are adopted, 00:37:52.57\00:37:57.41 there will be far less poverty than exists today. 00:37:57.44\00:37:59.97 We now intend to give the people practical lessons 00:38:00.01\00:38:02.54 on the improvement of the land 00:38:02.58\00:38:04.38 and thus induce them to cultivate 00:38:04.41\00:38:06.38 their land now lying idle... 00:38:06.41\00:38:08.28 if we accomplish this... " she says, 00:38:08.32\00:38:10.85 "we will have done a good missionary work. " 00:38:10.89\00:38:13.02 So, I just want to invite you to partner with Farm Stew. 00:38:13.05\00:38:16.02 I thank you also for already doing that 00:38:16.06\00:38:19.29 and come visit us at the Booth at 9:15 00:38:19.36\00:38:22.20 and at the session this afternoon at 3:30. 00:38:22.23\00:38:24.43 Thank you so much for the opportunity. 00:38:24.47\00:38:26.60 Interviewer: You're welcome. 00:38:26.63\00:38:28.34
