Hello again, and welcome again to this segment of 00:00:20.62\00:00:23.08 ASI Members in Action, where we are listening to what ASI 00:00:23.12\00:00:27.19 members are doing in their part of God's vineyard. 00:00:27.22\00:00:29.86 Have you enjoyed the stories so far this evening? 00:00:29.89\00:00:32.46 Each one of these gentlemen represent different ministries, 00:00:32.49\00:00:36.67 so welcome to all of you who are joining me here on the 00:00:36.70\00:00:39.20 platform also this evening. 00:00:39.23\00:00:40.74 Vaughan Sparrow is the President of Wildwood Institute and 00:00:40.80\00:00:47.04 Lifestyle Center in Clinock. 00:00:47.08\00:00:48.44 Vaughan welcome. We're going to be talking about Wildwood for 00:00:48.48\00:00:53.25 just a minute, but before we do that I'd like to maybe introduce 00:00:53.28\00:00:58.05 you, and perhaps you could tell us where you're from, 00:00:58.09\00:01:00.92 and how you got involved, and how long you've been involved 00:01:00.96\00:01:03.93 as President there at Wildwood. 00:01:03.96\00:01:05.79 I've noticed a little Southern accent in your speech, 00:01:05.83\00:01:08.96 but not the kind of Southern accent that you'd run 00:01:09.00\00:01:12.07 into here in Texas. 00:01:12.10\00:01:13.54 It comes from the deep South. 00:01:13.57\00:01:15.40 Deep South! Okay. Ha! 00:01:15.44\00:01:16.87 South Africa. South Africa. 00:01:16.91\00:01:18.47 I was born to farming parents in South Africa. 00:01:18.51\00:01:23.35 At the end of my high school my father wanted us to 00:01:23.38\00:01:28.18 get some education. 00:01:28.22\00:01:29.55 Went to Heidelberg College in South Africa. 00:01:29.58\00:01:31.85 When I graduated there we went farming. 00:01:31.89\00:01:34.52 And the Lord convicted us to get involved in 00:01:34.56\00:01:37.53 medical missionary work. 00:01:37.56\00:01:38.89 Worked it out that we could come to Wildwood, and we've been 00:01:38.93\00:01:42.90 there for about twelve and a half years. 00:01:42.93\00:01:45.17 Wonderful! Give me a birds-eye view of what Wildwood 00:01:45.20\00:01:48.40 is and what you do there. 00:01:48.44\00:01:49.90 Wildwood is a ministry of dedicated lay people, volunteers 00:01:49.94\00:01:56.08 to service trying to spread God's love and His Word 00:01:56.11\00:02:01.25 to hasten His soon return. 00:02:01.28\00:02:03.32 We have a video that will explain a little bit more about 00:02:03.35\00:02:06.32 what Wildwood does. 00:02:06.35\00:02:07.69 And so perhaps if we could roll that video at this moment, 00:02:07.72\00:02:10.49 and it will give you a good idea as to what Wildwood's about. 00:02:10.53\00:02:13.70 Thank you. 00:02:13.73\00:02:15.06 Hidden among the outskirts of Chattanooga there is a place 00:02:18.43\00:02:22.97 called Wildwood; a community of Seventh-day Adventists that 00:02:23.00\00:02:28.01 focus on the ministry of Christ by claiming lives for His 00:02:28.04\00:02:32.51 Kingdom through medical missionary work, 00:02:32.55\00:02:35.25 health evangelism, and social interactions. 00:02:35.28\00:02:37.95 Ah, the involvement, the mindset of the place is beautiful. 00:02:38.99\00:02:44.59 It's not the money, it's the love, the understanding, 00:02:44.63\00:02:48.26 the person in general; the physical part, 00:02:48.30\00:02:51.13 and the spiritual part. 00:02:51.17\00:02:52.67 We can't come here and not be smiling. 00:02:52.70\00:02:55.24 Everybody waves to you: Hi! 00:02:55.27\00:02:58.01 So it's new, but I love it. 00:02:58.04\00:03:00.74 I hope I can use that to change myself, my people I came from. 00:03:00.78\00:03:05.51 What I love about Wildwood is that Wildwood is so much more 00:03:09.65\00:03:13.36 that what happens here on this campus. 00:03:13.39\00:03:15.22 It may start here, but then people go out from here, 00:03:15.26\00:03:18.69 and they go out and they start lifestyle centers, 00:03:18.73\00:03:22.06 they start projects, they do mission work, they change their 00:03:22.13\00:03:25.97 communities, they work with their churches. 00:03:26.00\00:03:28.80 Wildwood is basically like a launching pad. 00:03:28.84\00:03:31.57 It's somewhere that people come, they get inspired, 00:03:31.61\00:03:34.21 they get trained, but then they go to all corners of the world 00:03:34.24\00:03:37.75 and do amazing things for the Lord. 00:03:37.78\00:03:40.05 How does something like this happen? 00:03:40.08\00:03:42.32 Wildwood is the result of many miracles. 00:03:43.59\00:03:46.22 It's inspiring reading and hearing about those miracles 00:03:46.25\00:03:50.06 from the many resources that we have available. 00:03:50.09\00:03:52.23 The men and women who started Wildwood had a vision. 00:03:53.60\00:03:57.10 They believed in ministry that would impact the world, 00:03:57.40\00:04:00.54 as well as their local community. 00:04:00.57\00:04:02.40 We are now living in the consummation of that vision 00:04:02.44\00:04:05.44 as Medical Missionary work has extended across the globe. 00:04:05.47\00:04:09.24 Vaughan you recently, you celebrated an 00:04:15.12\00:04:17.02 Anniversary there at Wildwood. 00:04:17.05\00:04:18.39 What was your... What year was it? 00:04:18.42\00:04:20.39 75 years. 75 years. 00:04:20.42\00:04:22.66 And in that time there've been many miracles that have 00:04:22.69\00:04:24.96 happened, but some challenges also. 00:04:24.99\00:04:27.40 I understand that this year there was a challenge, 00:04:27.43\00:04:29.83 but you were able to overcome that with God's help. 00:04:29.86\00:04:32.23 Tell us a little bit about it. 00:04:32.27\00:04:33.60 I believe that we are blessed but challenged. 00:04:33.64\00:04:38.71 And this past year we've had challenges on our education 00:04:38.74\00:04:43.61 front with our medical missionary training program. 00:04:43.65\00:04:46.65 We were seeking a different type of Visa, and as we asked 00:04:46.72\00:04:51.75 questions the state decided that they needed to shut us down. 00:04:51.79\00:04:56.93 And they told us to remove our web page, and they did some 00:04:56.96\00:05:02.06 further investigation. 00:05:02.10\00:05:03.87 But by the Lord's grace, we were able to get legal opinion. 00:05:03.90\00:05:09.17 And as we sought that legal opinion we were eventually 00:05:09.20\00:05:12.94 granted religious exemption for our education program. 00:05:12.97\00:05:16.68 I mean that was a real blessing. 00:05:16.75\00:05:18.28 You see the Lord's hand in that decision then? Amen! 00:05:18.31\00:05:21.98 Amen. So the Education Department is 00:05:22.02\00:05:24.45 back up and running? 00:05:24.49\00:05:25.82 Back up and running, and we're training missionaries 00:05:25.85\00:05:27.39 that go all around the world. 00:05:27.42\00:05:28.76 And there is a project that ASI is helping you with. 00:05:28.79\00:05:32.66 What's that all about? 00:05:32.69\00:05:34.03 We have a Community Center that we've started. 00:05:34.06\00:05:35.96 It's a project, and thanks to ASI and our donors, we were able 00:05:36.00\00:05:41.00 to start this project. 00:05:41.04\00:05:42.37 We've had many challenges in location, in licensing, weather, 00:05:42.40\00:05:47.44 but we are ready to roll. 00:05:47.48\00:05:49.88 And, hopefully, by the end of this summer we will have 00:05:49.94\00:05:53.11 at least the earthwork done. 00:05:53.15\00:05:55.02 And so it's been a real blessing. 00:05:55.08\00:05:56.69 And, again, we want to thank you, ASI, for the support that 00:05:56.72\00:06:00.52 is being given to us. 00:06:00.56\00:06:02.12 In that 75 years, again, many, many stories that couldn't be 00:06:02.16\00:06:08.50 recounted, but perhaps you have just one that you 00:06:08.56\00:06:10.70 could share with us. 00:06:10.73\00:06:12.07 We have so many and this; on the education front we have 00:06:12.10\00:06:17.71 lives being changed, character's being formed. 00:06:17.74\00:06:20.74 In our Lifestyle Center though we get to see 00:06:20.78\00:06:23.75 firsthand God's healing. 00:06:23.78\00:06:25.88 And Michelle was experiencing numbness, tingling in her arms, 00:06:25.91\00:06:31.02 hands, and feet, and legs, and eventually she 00:06:31.05\00:06:34.09 was diagnosed with MS. 00:06:34.12\00:06:35.72 And after a lot of medication, a hospital stay, she decided 00:06:35.76\00:06:42.46 that she didn't want to continue with this the rest of her life. 00:06:42.50\00:06:44.83 After she was released from the hospital she decided to go on a 00:06:44.87\00:06:49.14 juice fast, and take things into her own hands. 00:06:49.17\00:06:51.74 She experienced healing in a significant way, 00:06:51.77\00:06:54.88 but a short time after she started to slip again. 00:06:54.91\00:06:57.91 And her own words here: We called Wildwood, and within a 00:06:57.95\00:07:01.62 few hours we arrived. 00:07:01.68\00:07:03.05 I did not think that I could financially afford to stay the 00:07:03.08\00:07:05.92 twenty-five days, but God opened the door. 00:07:05.95\00:07:09.06 It was such a blessing under the care of doctors who are not 00:07:09.09\00:07:11.59 trying to push poison into your veins, but who use God's method 00:07:11.63\00:07:15.46 of healing, combined with a knowledge of the body to 00:07:15.53\00:07:18.20 facilitate healing and restoration. 00:07:18.23\00:07:20.64 And she says, I appreciated the fact that the doctors took time 00:07:20.67\00:07:23.61 to pray with each of us as patients. 00:07:23.64\00:07:25.97 I've seen Him work some miracles in my life, and in the lives of 00:07:26.01\00:07:29.28 the other guests that were with me. 00:07:29.31\00:07:31.08 Before I left Wildwood my symptoms had abated. 00:07:31.11\00:07:34.12 During my time at Wildwood I received not only physical 00:07:34.15\00:07:37.39 healing, but also emotional, and spiritual healing. 00:07:37.42\00:07:40.59 And as we listened to these testimonies of these lifestyle 00:07:40.62\00:07:43.49 guests, it's a highlight every two weeks in our program 00:07:43.53\00:07:46.39 to hear how the Lord is actively healing people, 00:07:46.43\00:07:49.63 and changing lives. 00:07:49.66\00:07:51.00 It's... the physical healing is important. Right. 00:07:51.03\00:07:53.74 But it's the spiritual healing that we're really after, 00:07:53.77\00:07:55.67 isn't it? That's right. 00:07:55.70\00:07:57.04 Well, Vaughan, it's been a pleasure speaking to you. 00:07:57.07\00:07:58.41 Thank you so much. 00:07:58.44\00:07:59.77 John Davidson is the President of Eden Valley. 00:07:59.81\00:08:02.78 Perhaps you could tell me, was let's say five years ago, 00:08:02.81\00:08:09.88 being the President of Eden Valley something that you were 00:08:09.92\00:08:12.55 planning to do, and was on the top of your list? 00:08:12.59\00:08:15.56 Well, five years ago I wouldn't, excuse me. 00:08:15.59\00:08:20.73 Oh, I'm sorry about that. 00:08:20.76\00:08:22.10 Five years ago? No. 00:08:22.13\00:08:23.47 I... one year ago, No. 00:08:23.50\00:08:25.70 Really? Okay. 00:08:25.73\00:08:27.07 It wasn't on... It was not on the radar. 00:08:27.10\00:08:29.10 Okay, tell us how it happened. 00:08:29.14\00:08:30.84 Well, it kind of is a longer story, but it happened by 00:08:30.87\00:08:38.05 Lisa Hodges coming to my house and asking me to do that. 00:08:38.08\00:08:41.88 But there is kind of a lengthy story that goes along with that. 00:08:41.92\00:08:45.52 Yeah, we don't have time for the whole story, of course, 00:08:45.55\00:08:49.06 but the key here is when God calls, you need to be 00:08:49.09\00:08:57.03 ready to answer it. 00:08:57.07\00:08:58.40 And we discussed just a little bit about what 00:08:58.43\00:08:59.87 that means for you. 00:08:59.93\00:09:01.27 Okay, well, being born in a Seventh-day Adventist home, 00:09:01.30\00:09:04.51 and baptized at twelve years old, like many of us, 00:09:04.54\00:09:07.58 you grow up being a Seventh-day Adventist, but really not 00:09:07.61\00:09:11.58 dedicating your life to the Lord. 00:09:11.61\00:09:14.32 You do all the right things, but you don't dedicate yourself. 00:09:14.35\00:09:17.92 And my dad would tell me as I grew up, and even he would tell 00:09:17.95\00:09:21.52 me today, You have to dedicate yourself unconditionally. 00:09:21.56\00:09:25.39 And that's the hard part, isn't it? unconditionally? 00:09:25.43\00:09:29.26 Think about that for a second. 00:09:29.30\00:09:31.40 When a military army surrenders unconditionally; and that's your 00:09:31.43\00:09:37.54 heart giving that to God and saying, Whatever You want 00:09:37.57\00:09:40.21 me to do, I will do. 00:09:40.28\00:09:42.21 Amen. Now we've got a video that explains just a little bit 00:09:42.24\00:09:45.08 about what Eden Valley is about. 00:09:45.11\00:09:46.72 And also you've had some challenges 00:09:46.75\00:09:48.32 in the last year or so. 00:09:48.35\00:09:49.68 And so we want to know what those are. 00:09:49.72\00:09:51.12 But if we could look at the video that will explain what 00:09:51.15\00:09:54.56 Eden Valley is and what you do there. 00:09:54.59\00:09:56.02 In 1962 Eden Valley Institute of Wellness was founded 00:10:01.86\00:10:06.03 at the foothills of the Rocky Mountain National Park. 00:10:06.07\00:10:10.17 A Lifestyle Center was started a few years later to reach out 00:10:14.74\00:10:18.41 to those who were in health crisis. 00:10:18.45\00:10:20.45 Implementing God's natural laws of health outlined in the Bible, 00:10:20.48\00:10:24.75 and our treatments, our guests experience rest, healing, 00:10:24.79\00:10:28.86 and peace in the beautiful nature settings 00:10:28.89\00:10:32.16 surrounding the property. 00:10:32.19\00:10:33.63 More importantly, they were brought to the knowledge of 00:10:33.66\00:10:36.63 Jesus, who only can give true healing, 00:10:36.67\00:10:39.73 both physically, and spiritually. 00:10:39.77\00:10:42.24 Today Eden Valley is blessed with more than thirty dedicated 00:10:42.27\00:10:46.94 volunteers on staff. 00:10:46.98\00:10:48.58 Our two week natural remedies program has helped hundreds of 00:10:48.64\00:10:52.38 people to restore their health, and their faith. 00:10:52.41\00:10:55.75 Our three month educational program, which combines medical 00:10:55.78\00:10:59.65 missionary work and evangelism has provided our students with 00:10:59.69\00:11:03.32 knowledge and tools that have been used to improve the lives 00:11:03.36\00:11:06.93 of believers, and non-believers all across the globe. 00:11:06.96\00:11:10.43 In 2017 we also started a new program geared towards 00:11:11.73\00:11:16.50 health professionals. 00:11:16.54\00:11:17.87 The Natural Remedies program for Health Professionals is an 00:11:17.91\00:11:21.28 intensive one month program designed to equip individuals 00:11:21.31\00:11:24.91 with medical background. 00:11:24.95\00:11:26.38 Here at Eden Valley our mission is to 00:11:28.55\00:11:31.05 But the challenges are big and ever changing. 00:11:44.07\00:11:47.40 In 2010 Eden Valley operations were threatened by some 00:11:47.44\00:11:51.77 requirements imposed by the county. 00:11:51.81\00:11:53.84 Included in their list was a 00:11:53.88\00:11:56.54 By God's grace, since August 2016 the new sewer plant 00:11:58.81\00:12:04.15 has been fully operational. 00:12:04.19\00:12:05.85 The boy's dormitory has been recently renovated with funds 00:12:05.89\00:12:09.39 donated for this purpose. 00:12:09.42\00:12:10.89 All rooms received new carpet, a fresh coat of paint, 00:12:10.93\00:12:14.66 and new furniture. 00:12:14.70\00:12:16.03 Eden Valley's Lifestyle Center must be expanded. 00:12:16.06\00:12:19.87 More space and new equipment means we can accommodate more 00:12:19.90\00:12:23.41 guests and perform treatments and programs that are not 00:12:23.44\00:12:26.88 possible with our current structure. 00:12:26.91\00:12:28.71 Until our Lord and Savior returns, many people still need 00:12:30.75\00:12:35.08 to be touched by the medical missionary work. 00:12:35.12\00:12:37.75 Please pray for Eden Valley as we continue in our journey 00:12:37.79\00:12:42.09 to share God's love through the gift of better health. 00:12:42.12\00:12:46.36 Now John, the video mentioned one challenge, 00:12:49.90\00:12:53.54 but there's another challenge that you mentioned also, 00:12:53.57\00:12:55.70 and you're a recipient of the project offering that will help 00:12:55.74\00:12:59.11 with that challenge. 00:12:59.14\00:13:00.48 Tell us what it is. 00:13:00.51\00:13:01.84 Yeah, that challenge is a new kitchen. 00:13:01.88\00:13:04.18 The county came, just like they did with the sewer plant there, 00:13:04.21\00:13:08.12 and they said we needed to make a change. 00:13:08.15\00:13:10.25 And the change is we needed a commercial kitchen. 00:13:10.29\00:13:13.59 We are cooking there and it's not legal, if you will. 00:13:13.62\00:13:19.03 And so we are working towards building a brand new 00:13:19.06\00:13:23.33 commercial kitchen. 00:13:23.37\00:13:24.70 So they said, We love what you're doing; 00:13:24.73\00:13:26.07 you just need to be legal. 00:13:26.10\00:13:27.44 So we can be legal. 00:13:27.47\00:13:28.80 Okay. It wouldn't be complete if you didn't tell us a little 00:13:28.84\00:13:31.74 bit of a story about what's going on, and what the Lord's 00:13:31.77\00:13:35.34 doing at Eden Valley right now. 00:13:35.38\00:13:36.71 Well you saw a little bit about the education department's 00:13:36.75\00:13:39.75 students learning to do what we do there at Eden Valley, 00:13:39.78\00:13:42.82 our Lifestyle Center. 00:13:42.88\00:13:44.45 I'm just going to tell you a quick story 00:13:44.49\00:13:45.89 at the Lifestyle Center. 00:13:45.92\00:13:47.26 There was a group of people that came. 00:13:47.29\00:13:49.92 It was about a month ago. 00:13:50.63\00:13:52.29 We do an outreach session. 00:13:52.33\00:13:54.00 It's one week long. 00:13:54.03\00:13:55.36 And there was a man there that talked to me, and he said, 00:13:55.40\00:13:57.77 I really didn't have a good picture of God. 00:13:57.80\00:14:00.80 I had a picture in my mind of what God was like. 00:14:00.84\00:14:03.84 But after dealing with our people there in the 00:14:03.87\00:14:06.81 Lifestyle Center, and studying the Bible each morning. 00:14:06.84\00:14:09.98 We have worship at 6:30 each morning. 00:14:10.01\00:14:11.91 He says, Now I have a new picture of what God is. 00:14:11.95\00:14:15.88 God is love. The way that you treat me here 00:14:15.95\00:14:19.82 shows what God is like. 00:14:19.85\00:14:22.09 And so his complete picture of God has changed. 00:14:22.12\00:14:24.86 I see a loving God, a God who wants me to 00:14:24.89\00:14:28.96 spend eternity with Him. 00:14:29.00\00:14:30.57 Yeah. That's the picture that we need to leave 00:14:30.60\00:14:32.53 with people, isn't it? 00:14:32.60\00:14:33.94 In fact whether they're Bible believing Christians or not 00:14:33.97\00:14:36.71 Bible believing Christians, they still need to have that picture 00:14:36.74\00:14:39.07 at all of our institutions. 00:14:39.11\00:14:40.71 John thank you for talking to us this evening. Thank you. 00:14:40.74\00:14:44.01 The next organization is a new organization called 00:14:44.05\00:14:48.35 Adventist Help, and in fact it's a, I guess you could say, 00:14:48.38\00:14:53.46 actually a fast moving, up and coming entrepreneurial, 00:14:53.49\00:14:56.86 rough-and-tumble kind of organization. 00:14:56.89\00:14:59.26 And so you're doing some exciting work. 00:14:59.29\00:15:01.56 I'd like to introduce to some of you, probably most of 00:15:01.63\00:15:04.77 you know Kim Busl. 00:15:04.80\00:15:06.13 He's been in mission work for many decades, and a good friend. 00:15:06.17\00:15:10.51 And also a new friend, Dr. Michael Von Horsten. 00:15:10.54\00:15:14.01 I think I mangled your name appropriately. 00:15:14.04\00:15:16.64 And you are also involved in this new work. 00:15:16.68\00:15:21.62 I'd like for Kim to take just a moment to give us the cliff 00:15:22.68\00:15:25.55 notes version of what the work is, 00:15:25.59\00:15:28.19 and how it really came to be. 00:15:28.22\00:15:29.92 It's something that's fairly brand new, 00:15:29.96\00:15:31.89 and just always evolving. 00:15:31.93\00:15:33.26 So give us an overview of it Kim. 00:15:33.29\00:15:35.10 Two years ago at the ASI Europe of Convention 00:15:35.13\00:15:38.30 we went to Budapest. 00:15:38.33\00:15:40.27 We found 3,500 refugees sleeping in the local train station. 00:15:40.30\00:15:44.04 An ASI member from North America came to me and said, Kim, 00:15:44.11\00:15:47.81 can you get me ten minutes with your board? Said, Sure. 00:15:47.84\00:15:51.88 He presented to the board an opportunity to serve these 00:15:51.91\00:15:55.88 hundreds of thousands of people in a tangible way as they were 00:15:55.92\00:16:00.16 fleeing war and terror in Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan. 00:16:00.19\00:16:05.76 And we had no idea what would happen. 00:16:05.79\00:16:08.36 Three months later, what you see here, Adventist Help 00:16:08.40\00:16:12.63 initiative was created. 00:16:12.67\00:16:14.00 We ended up with a bus turned into a clinic, 00:16:14.04\00:16:16.47 on the shores of Lesbos. 00:16:16.50\00:16:18.31 This facility was the one and only medical emergency 00:16:18.34\00:16:23.01 facility on that island. 00:16:23.04\00:16:25.15 As you see the picture of the boats here, people coming in, 00:16:25.18\00:16:28.35 just imagine yourself having lived in a 00:16:28.38\00:16:31.05 desert, you end up here. 00:16:31.09\00:16:32.55 We all know that thousands of people have 00:16:32.59\00:16:34.72 drowned on their way. 00:16:34.76\00:16:36.32 The Lord led wonderfully in this ministry. 00:16:36.36\00:16:39.19 Thousands of people have been ministered unto. 00:16:39.23\00:16:42.03 Volunteers from around the world fly themselves, 00:16:42.63\00:16:46.33 they pay for themselves to be there, and they serve 00:16:46.37\00:16:50.07 the needs of these folks. 00:16:50.11\00:16:51.71 When they closed Turkey so the boats couldn't come out, 00:16:51.74\00:16:56.41 they closed the gates of Greece so the refugees 00:16:56.44\00:16:58.91 couldn't enter Europe. 00:16:58.98\00:17:00.32 They asked us to establish a facility at a refugee camp. 00:17:00.35\00:17:04.15 And you saw in that slide a 40 foot container. 00:17:04.19\00:17:07.02 A person whom we all know, Elder Neil Wil... Elder... 00:17:07.69\00:17:10.73 Did I say that right? 00:17:11.93\00:17:13.60 Ted Wilson, sorry Ted! 00:17:13.63\00:17:14.96 I remember your Dad. 00:17:15.00\00:17:16.33 ...heard about Adventist Help. 00:17:16.36\00:17:18.70 He appealed to Vereotho Filao, the President if ASI Europe. 00:17:18.73\00:17:22.04 He said, Can Adventist Health come to Iraq? 00:17:22.07\00:17:24.67 There's a great need in Iraq for this type of ministry. 00:17:24.71\00:17:29.01 We kind of drew sticks to see who would win the trip to Iraq, 00:17:29.04\00:17:32.65 and I won, so I got to go to Iraq. 00:17:32.68\00:17:35.08 And shortly thereafter my good friend here, 00:17:35.12\00:17:37.55 Dr. Michael von Horsten, from South Africa, 00:17:37.59\00:17:39.99 came to spearhead that work in Iraq. 00:17:40.06\00:17:43.79 He was a great strength to us in Greece. 00:17:43.83\00:17:47.50 And so in Iraq, which you're going to see, is a partnership 00:17:47.53\00:17:51.47 between Maana, the Middle East North Africa, right? 00:17:51.53\00:17:57.21 And ADRA, and Adventist Health, and volunteers 00:17:57.27\00:18:01.64 from around the world. 00:18:01.68\00:18:03.01 Dr. Michael, maybe you can give us an idea of what 00:18:03.04\00:18:07.22 typically is going on at this... 00:18:07.25\00:18:09.35 Well, it's a hospital there in Iraq. 00:18:10.39\00:18:12.89 And also how did it get going exactly there in that vicinity? 00:18:12.92\00:18:18.43 And did you do it all by yourself? 00:18:18.46\00:18:20.13 No, definitely not. 00:18:20.16\00:18:21.50 So this has been one of the most exciting projects I've ever 00:18:21.53\00:18:24.93 been involved in my medical career. 00:18:24.97\00:18:26.74 So we came to Iraq in February of this year. 00:18:26.77\00:18:30.81 I went there to possibly open up a small clinic like we've 00:18:30.84\00:18:33.81 opened in Greece; possibly two or three beds. 00:18:33.84\00:18:36.44 And I walked into the ADRA office and we talked about 00:18:36.48\00:18:40.15 the possibilities for opening up this unit, and collaborating 00:18:40.18\00:18:43.55 with ADRA Kyrgyzstan. 00:18:43.59\00:18:44.92 And from there it just skyrocketed. 00:18:44.95\00:18:47.06 I actually don't even know how it all happened. 00:18:47.09\00:18:48.49 But the facility that we have on the ground now is a 45 bed 00:18:48.52\00:18:54.13 hospital, a 6 consultation room Primary Care Units, 00:18:54.16\00:18:57.57 a Mental Health Unit, a Dental Unit that's busy being developed 00:18:57.60\00:19:02.00 at the moment, and 9 bed Emergency Unit with a 3 bed 00:19:02.04\00:19:06.04 Heart Care Unit, and X-ray Units, an Ultrasound Facility, 00:19:06.07\00:19:09.74 and a Laboratory, plus a Pharmacy, which is absolutely 00:19:09.78\00:19:13.42 nothing short of a miracle. 00:19:13.45\00:19:14.88 So, yeah, we're really excited to be on the ground. 00:19:14.92\00:19:17.82 Just to give you an idea of the location, we're actually 00:19:17.85\00:19:21.52 20 kilometers east of the... 20 miles east of the city of 00:19:21.56\00:19:25.23 Morcell, so for those of you who have been following the 00:19:25.26\00:19:28.83 Middle Eastern... Things events happening in the Middle East, 00:19:28.86\00:19:31.53 this is one of the strongholds of Isis. 00:19:31.57\00:19:34.44 And the deliberation process that's been underway for the 00:19:34.47\00:19:37.47 past two months in the area has displaced 00:19:37.51\00:19:39.94 hundreds of thousands of people. 00:19:39.97\00:19:41.84 And currently we... There's a cluster of five IDP, 00:19:41.88\00:19:45.48 Internally Displaced Persons, camps with collected populations 00:19:45.51\00:19:49.82 of 100,000 people; that's 20,000 children sitting with no 00:19:49.85\00:19:54.12 access to emergency care, inpatient 00:19:54.16\00:19:56.79 facilities on the ground. 00:19:56.83\00:19:58.16 And that's where ADRA and Adventist Health have stepped 00:19:58.19\00:20:01.56 in and put this facility together. 00:20:01.60\00:20:03.80 So, yes, it's incredible to be there. 00:20:03.83\00:20:05.97 We, just to give you an idea of people we're dealing with, 00:20:06.00\00:20:09.00 this is a population that has had absolutely no medical 00:20:09.04\00:20:12.01 care for three years. 00:20:12.04\00:20:13.38 You know, there every day we've seen children that are, 00:20:13.41\00:20:16.44 have been starving to death. 00:20:16.48\00:20:17.81 They've been living on rice water. 00:20:17.85\00:20:20.45 The parents have been eating grass, which they buy 00:20:20.48\00:20:23.92 for $12 a kilogram. 00:20:23.99\00:20:25.39 They've been eating cat meat that they buy 00:20:25.42\00:20:28.02 for $45 per kilogram. 00:20:28.06\00:20:29.76 They've been starving. 00:20:29.79\00:20:31.43 It's been a siege of Biblical proportions. 00:20:31.46\00:20:33.26 And so we're dealing with children with miasmas, 00:20:33.29\00:20:36.30 severe acute malnutrition. 00:20:36.36\00:20:37.70 We're dealing with people with severe mental health issues. 00:20:37.73\00:20:40.14 We're dealing with people who've seen crucifixions 00:20:40.17\00:20:43.41 on a day-to-day basis, people that have had their children 00:20:43.44\00:20:46.31 beheaded, and people who've had their brothers and sisters 00:20:46.37\00:20:49.34 thrown off buildings, and who've been sex slaves, who've been 00:20:49.38\00:20:52.45 tortured, and we see children in our clinics that have been 00:20:52.48\00:20:55.55 electrocuted and tortured by Isis. 00:20:55.58\00:20:57.89 So this is a group of people that are incredibly vulnerable. 00:20:58.59\00:21:02.26 These are not terrorists, these are victims of terrorism. 00:21:02.29\00:21:05.96 And we are here to reach out to them. 00:21:05.99\00:21:08.06 It's a beautiful entering wedge into the 10/40 window. Yeah. 00:21:08.10\00:21:12.47 This type of work is something that you could probably tell 00:21:12.53\00:21:16.87 us stories for hours. 00:21:16.91\00:21:20.61 Unfortunately, we only have a few seconds left. 00:21:20.68\00:21:23.21 So if someone wants to get involved in the work that you're 00:21:23.24\00:21:26.15 doing; if someone here is listening and they'd like to 00:21:26.18\00:21:28.28 get involved, how can they get involved in what you're doing? 00:21:28.32\00:21:31.02 Well, right now we have an Adventist Health booth here 00:21:31.05\00:21:33.59 at the Convention, and I invite you to come see Claus, 00:21:33.62\00:21:36.12 see Michael, see myself. 00:21:36.16\00:21:37.73 This has been a faith venture from day one, 00:21:37.76\00:21:40.50 where we responded to a call that God put before us, 00:21:40.56\00:21:43.70 and it's been a miracle to watch it happen. 00:21:43.77\00:21:46.00 Every two weeks we have bills to pay, and we have no money 00:21:46.03\00:21:48.57 in the bank account. 00:21:48.60\00:21:49.94 We need volunteers from around the world to keep 00:21:49.97\00:21:52.44 this hospital open. 00:21:52.47\00:21:53.81 We went from a 40 foot clinic to a 45 bed hospital. 00:21:53.84\00:21:56.75 We have no administration; we have no paid help. 00:21:56.78\00:21:59.98 It's simply a miracle that we see God working to touch the 00:22:00.02\00:22:03.89 lives of people, to share the love of Christ in a tangible way 00:22:03.95\00:22:07.79 in countries where we have not had success in years past. 00:22:07.82\00:22:11.46 Please come by the booth, or you can visit 00:22:11.49\00:22:13.96 www. AdventistHelp. org 00:22:14.00\00:22:16.36 Thank you so much gentlemen. 00:22:16.40\00:22:18.17 And ASI is praying for each one of your ministries. 00:22:18.20\00:22:21.74 We'll keep you in prayer. 00:22:21.77\00:22:23.10 And we know that God is blessing, and He will continue 00:22:23.14\00:22:25.37 to bless in the future. 00:22:25.41\00:22:26.74 Thank you so much. Thank you, Cal. 00:22:26.78\00:22:28.31 I do what I do because I believe that the gospel is 00:22:29.61\00:22:32.88 compelling thing there is, and at times I don't believe that we 00:22:34.32\00:22:38.25 communicate it as beautifully as we can. 00:22:38.29\00:22:40.86 So I design for ministries of the Adventist Church because 00:22:40.89\00:22:44.63 the message is beautiful. 00:22:44.66\00:22:46.70 The audience doesn't always see it. 00:22:46.73\00:22:48.70 I think ASI is really great because it provides 00:22:48.73\00:22:51.33 an opportunity for me to meet a bunch of really great people 00:22:51.37\00:22:55.44 who have been doing very inspiring work in the church. 00:22:55.47\00:22:58.17 And as I want to work with Adventist ministries, 00:22:58.21\00:23:01.28 and help them communicate what they are doing, I love knowing 00:23:01.31\00:23:04.85 what they are doing, and it inspires me to be a better 00:23:04.91\00:23:08.15 Christian, and I think that's something that we can all 00:23:08.18\00:23:11.39 see as having really 00:23:11.42\00:23:12.75 We're delighted to be here tonight, and to talk about some 00:23:21.33\00:23:25.13 fantastic things that God is doing in the lives of people 00:23:25.17\00:23:28.94 who are ministering right out on the front lines. 00:23:28.97\00:23:32.84 I want to get right to it. 00:23:32.87\00:23:34.28 Fred and Jill Cornforth are here. 00:23:34.31\00:23:37.35 I want you to know that Fred is our new Chapter President 00:23:37.38\00:23:40.58 for the North Pacific Union Conference and ASI, 00:23:40.62\00:23:44.59 our ASI Chapter up there. 00:23:44.62\00:23:45.95 Fred, you were a part of ASI a long time ago, but tells us. 00:23:46.02\00:23:49.86 Yeah, no, it's remarkable to think, to be back involved with 00:23:49.89\00:23:53.70 ASI the last two or three years. 00:23:53.73\00:23:55.40 There's been so much good done by ASI that we felt drawn back 00:23:55.46\00:24:00.17 to it, and we've become very involved, very involved. 00:24:00.20\00:24:04.91 And it's been a wonderful experience. 00:24:04.94\00:24:06.78 We just see so much potential. 00:24:06.81\00:24:08.34 And, as you can tell from all the other people before, 00:24:08.38\00:24:11.18 just wonderful miracles of God happening in 00:24:11.21\00:24:13.68 people's lives every day. 00:24:13.72\00:24:15.05 So in Boise, which is where our home is, we just completed 00:24:15.08\00:24:20.49 an Amen Clinic where we had just under 1,400 people that 00:24:20.52\00:24:26.19 came over a three day period. 00:24:26.23\00:24:28.66 And I think one of the most remarkable things to me was 00:24:28.73\00:24:31.83 that over half of our volunteers were in their 20's and 30's. 00:24:31.87\00:24:37.11 So it was a younger group. 00:24:37.14\00:24:38.47 But it was really remarkable to see these people getting 00:24:39.01\00:24:41.78 involved in people's lives. 00:24:41.81\00:24:43.14 And my wife has some stories that she'd like to tell that 00:24:43.18\00:24:46.51 came from the clinic itself. 00:24:46.55\00:24:48.08 What a pleasure it was to work in the mission field of Boise. 00:24:49.08\00:24:53.15 I know that we hear about the mission field being so far away, 00:24:53.19\00:24:57.19 but really in our home towns you can find mission 00:24:57.23\00:24:59.96 fields wherever you live. 00:25:00.00\00:25:01.33 So, yes, it was a privilege for us to serve there in this 00:25:01.36\00:25:05.47 capacity at this medical clinic. 00:25:05.53\00:25:07.87 I am a Pediatric Nurse by education, and by training, 00:25:07.90\00:25:12.24 and so I gravitate towards the children. 00:25:12.27\00:25:14.84 And one of my stories is about a little girl. 00:25:14.88\00:25:17.51 Her name was Nomi, and her mother, actually their whole 00:25:17.55\00:25:22.35 family; there were three kids, and a mother and a father, 00:25:22.38\00:25:25.09 that came to my attention because they were a 00:25:25.12\00:25:27.66 very special family. 00:25:27.69\00:25:29.02 They had waited in line for five hours to finally get her 00:25:29.06\00:25:32.23 daughter to be seen for vision, only to find out that she didn't 00:25:32.26\00:25:35.73 quite make the age bracket that we'd advertised for, 00:25:35.76\00:25:39.67 and so were turned away. 00:25:39.70\00:25:41.04 Long story short, we... they went back in line and waited 00:25:41.07\00:25:46.37 again, and waited the three hours to get to dental, 00:25:46.44\00:25:50.15 because she also had a toothache. 00:25:50.18\00:25:51.98 So they made it to the front of the line only to find out that, 00:25:52.01\00:25:55.75 you know, it was getting to be the end of the day, 00:25:55.78\00:25:57.52 and these people were so gracious and beautiful about 00:25:57.55\00:26:01.62 having to wait this whole time. 00:26:01.66\00:26:03.43 They weren't angry. 00:26:03.49\00:26:04.83 So we ended up getting them in because we realized she 00:26:04.86\00:26:08.30 really needed her vision done. 00:26:08.33\00:26:09.66 We got her through the process really quick, and she just was 00:26:09.70\00:26:13.84 so excited about finally getting glasses. 00:26:13.87\00:26:16.20 She just said, I just want to see! 00:26:16.24\00:26:17.64 I just want to see! 00:26:17.67\00:26:19.01 So upon testing found out that she had such horrible vision 00:26:19.04\00:26:24.31 that we couldn't help her that day. 00:26:24.35\00:26:26.05 And she was just sobbing, you know, I just want to see! 00:26:26.11\00:26:30.45 Come to find out her family, her parents, her mother was a 00:26:30.49\00:26:34.42 stay at home mom, but her dad had three jobs, and they were 00:26:34.46\00:26:38.33 all part time, so they didn't have any health insurance. 00:26:38.36\00:26:40.90 And she wasn't going to be able to get screened for vision till 00:26:40.93\00:26:43.83 second grade, and she was only six years old. 00:26:43.87\00:26:46.94 So she was going to have to wait several 00:26:46.97\00:26:48.74 years to get screened. 00:26:48.77\00:26:50.11 So we ended up giving her the strongest prescription glasses 00:26:50.14\00:26:54.61 that we could and sent her home. 00:26:54.64\00:26:56.48 So she couldn't still see very well, but she was just sobbing 00:26:56.51\00:27:00.55 when she put on her bright yellow glasses 00:27:00.58\00:27:02.42 that she had picked. 00:27:02.45\00:27:03.79 She was so excited. 00:27:03.82\00:27:05.15 So we know in a few weeks later she got her real glasses. 00:27:05.19\00:27:07.69 So we know that we just helped this one family. 00:27:07.72\00:27:09.99 They came back the next day and got all their dental work done. 00:27:10.59\00:27:13.40 And it was just such a privilege to be placed in her life. 00:27:13.43\00:27:18.60 Another super-fast story is we had, it seemed like a lot of 00:27:18.63\00:27:22.44 our people that came for the dental needed extractions, 00:27:22.47\00:27:26.07 and a lot of them had job interviews that they were really 00:27:26.11\00:27:29.58 looking forward to doing, so wanted to do their best. 00:27:29.61\00:27:32.71 So we just really felt like we were empowering people 00:27:32.75\00:27:34.75 by helping their health. 00:27:34.78\00:27:36.12 Our theme in Boise was Love Heals. 00:27:36.15\00:27:39.82 And that's going to be the title of our Northwest Convention 00:27:39.85\00:27:43.63 in the Spring of 2018. 00:27:43.66\00:27:46.43 But we had a home that our company had built 00:27:46.46\00:27:50.37 that was on the market. 00:27:50.40\00:27:51.73 And a realtor had showed the home and had noticed that the 00:27:51.77\00:27:54.90 crawl space cover was not quite in there straight and correct, 00:27:54.94\00:27:59.64 and after the showing went back and looked and found in the 00:27:59.67\00:28:02.94 crawl space that there was a sleeping bag and some clothes. 00:28:02.98\00:28:07.15 And we found out that a young man, 18 years old, who had aged 00:28:07.18\00:28:10.99 out of the foster care program, and was still just a junior in 00:28:11.02\00:28:14.52 high school, had nowhere else to live, and so he had somehow 00:28:14.56\00:28:17.79 found his way into the home and lived there at night. 00:28:17.83\00:28:20.70 And then when he'd go off to school during the day, he would 00:28:20.73\00:28:23.10 put his stuff in the crawl space. 00:28:23.13\00:28:24.73 And so that impacted us. 00:28:24.77\00:28:27.24 And we're setting up some homes in the area that have an older 00:28:27.27\00:28:31.47 couple that will have two or three of these kids that have 00:28:31.51\00:28:34.64 aged out of the foster care system. 00:28:34.68\00:28:36.51 And we're hoping that they're going to be able to live there 00:28:36.54\00:28:38.51 for two or three years till they get on their feet, 00:28:38.55\00:28:40.62 maybe even get into college, is our hope. 00:28:40.65\00:28:42.38 We're also helping with a number of orphanages around the world. 00:28:42.42\00:28:46.02 It's been a huge blessing to us. 00:28:46.05\00:28:48.76 There's been about thirty or so orphanages that we have helped 00:28:48.79\00:28:52.43 in different places. 00:28:52.46\00:28:53.96 And there's just... You know, sometimes there's so much need. 00:28:54.00\00:28:57.83 And I think that's one of the positive factors about ASI is 00:28:57.87\00:29:01.07 that, you know, you can't do it alone. 00:29:01.10\00:29:03.04 And there's so much encouragement that comes when 00:29:03.07\00:29:05.77 you're with people that have that like-mindedness of being 00:29:05.81\00:29:08.44 a conduit for God's love. 00:29:08.48\00:29:10.15 And that's something that Jill and I both, we have committed 00:29:10.18\00:29:13.25 ourselves to, is seeking out people that are like-minded, 00:29:13.28\00:29:16.72 that are like-hearted; and whether it's a clinic, 00:29:16.75\00:29:19.92 an orphanage, a foster home. 00:29:19.95\00:29:21.92 One, two last little things that we're involved with too, 00:29:21.96\00:29:26.46 and I shouldn't say little, but I don't know if we have the 00:29:26.49\00:29:30.43 slide about human trafficking. 00:29:30.47\00:29:32.60 There's millions of people that are caught up 00:29:32.63\00:29:34.94 in human trafficking right now, and only 1% are actually rescued 00:29:34.97\00:29:39.61 from that environment. 00:29:39.64\00:29:40.98 Can you imagine that? 00:29:41.01\00:29:42.34 Just 1% are actually rescued. 00:29:42.38\00:29:44.91 And we, our area in Boise, which has the community of Boise, 00:29:44.95\00:29:50.05 about 700,000 people, has over 70% church attendance, 00:29:50.09\00:29:55.39 but we have one of the highest hit rates for reported 00:29:55.42\00:29:58.69 human trafficking. 00:29:58.73\00:30:00.06 So even though you would think it would be a Christian 00:30:00.10\00:30:02.43 community, we've got a real problem on our hands. 00:30:02.46\00:30:05.43 And we're also reaching out and trying to do 00:30:05.47\00:30:06.90 something there as well. 00:30:06.94\00:30:08.27 So, Fred and Jill, you are actually in the business of 00:30:08.30\00:30:12.24 commercial real estate. 00:30:12.27\00:30:13.61 That's correct. 00:30:13.64\00:30:14.98 But you are finding every way that you can to do ministry. 00:30:15.01\00:30:18.01 Every minute! 00:30:18.05\00:30:19.38 Amen, that's awesome. 00:30:19.41\00:30:20.75 Dee Casper, Dee glad to have you here. 00:30:20.78\00:30:23.62 Now, Dee, it's my understanding that you grew up in the shadow 00:30:23.65\00:30:28.99 of a big satellite dish. 00:30:29.02\00:30:30.73 Ha ha ha, that's true! 00:30:30.76\00:30:32.09 Tell us about that. 00:30:32.13\00:30:33.46 Yeah, I grew up about 25 to 30 miles away from the 3ABN 00:30:33.50\00:30:36.16 world headquarters, and had never actually heard of a 00:30:36.20\00:30:38.43 Seventh-day Adventist for 21 years, and found it on 00:30:38.47\00:30:41.37 television in the Fall of 2006. 00:30:41.40\00:30:43.64 Okay, so the television station next door 00:30:43.67\00:30:46.24 you discovered in 2006. 00:30:46.27\00:30:48.84 So what programs did you start watching? 00:30:48.88\00:30:51.38 Doug Batchelor's, Most Amazing Prophecy series that he did 00:30:51.41\00:30:55.05 at Berrien Springs was the first thing. 00:30:55.08\00:30:56.69 It was super helpful. 00:30:56.72\00:30:58.05 I remember thinking, I wasn't doctrinally rooted. 00:30:58.09\00:30:59.45 I remember thinking, I've never heard this before, 00:30:59.49\00:31:01.49 but that's what the text says. 00:31:01.52\00:31:02.86 And the more I was hearing... 00:31:02.89\00:31:04.23 After that was David Asscherick's, 00:31:04.26\00:31:05.76 Discover Prophecy series. 00:31:05.79\00:31:07.13 And from there I went to find anything of David's that I 00:31:07.16\00:31:10.37 could on the Internet to just learn more. 00:31:10.40\00:31:11.73 You were baptized when? 00:31:11.77\00:31:13.10 At December 4th, 2010. 00:31:13.23\00:31:15.14 Okay, December 4th of 2010 is your Anniversary, and you became 00:31:15.17\00:31:18.91 a Seventh-day Adventist because of the television station next 00:31:18.94\00:31:21.54 door, and their ministry. 00:31:21.58\00:31:22.91 And then you've became involved in ministry. 00:31:22.94\00:31:25.38 In fact, I believe you are now leading a ministry 00:31:25.41\00:31:28.08 right next door to 3ABN. 00:31:28.12\00:31:29.72 Yeah, where the ministry is actually located 00:31:29.75\00:31:31.39 is on Miracle Lane. 00:31:31.42\00:31:32.95 We're on Miracle Lane right next to the original TV studio. 00:31:32.99\00:31:35.42 So UnScene Media Group, the ministry I work for, 00:31:35.46\00:31:38.03 that's where we're located. Yeah. 00:31:38.06\00:31:39.39 Okay, now tell us a little bit about that ministry. 00:31:39.43\00:31:42.10 So we are a professional film making organization, 00:31:42.13\00:31:44.43 so we create content internally, but we're doing a lot of work 00:31:44.47\00:31:47.90 for other organizations. 00:31:47.94\00:31:49.27 So this picture here is some devotional videos that GYC's 00:31:49.30\00:31:52.47 been releasing through Facebook. 00:31:52.51\00:31:53.84 We produced those for them. 00:31:53.91\00:31:55.31 There's another video we, or a picture we have right after 00:31:55.34\00:31:57.71 this of a cooking program we did for a physician here in 00:31:57.75\00:32:00.52 Texas, Dr. Donna Cooper Dockery. 00:32:00.55\00:32:03.28 And she has a television program encouraging people to get 00:32:03.32\00:32:07.12 healthy, and how to use food as medicine. 00:32:07.16\00:32:09.12 And so we actually filmed some cooking programs for those 00:32:09.16\00:32:11.86 television shows that she has while we were down in 00:32:11.89\00:32:14.73 Texas earlier this year. 00:32:14.76\00:32:16.10 We've done stuff for like NET School of Evangelism. 00:32:16.13\00:32:18.27 We made their promo video in other places. 00:32:18.30\00:32:20.07 So that's the industry that we use to raise funds to 00:32:20.10\00:32:24.37 do a lot of ministry. 00:32:24.41\00:32:25.74 So we do film making professionally, but our burden 00:32:25.77\00:32:28.28 is to raise funds to use internally, 00:32:28.31\00:32:31.48 to be able to do a lot of ministry. 00:32:31.51\00:32:32.98 So we have, basically our burden is to make content to reach 00:32:33.01\00:32:36.79 young people through social media that's principled, 00:32:36.82\00:32:39.65 that's Christ centered, that's modern, but we also have 00:32:39.69\00:32:43.22 training programs to equip young people to do media. 00:32:43.26\00:32:45.69 So the next picture we have here is from 00:32:45.73\00:32:48.10 our Summer Film Camp. 00:32:48.13\00:32:49.46 Basically we have 13 to 17 year olds for two 00:32:49.50\00:32:52.00 weeks in the summers. 00:32:52.03\00:32:53.37 They get a chance to actually learn how to make 00:32:53.40\00:32:55.07 their own short film. 00:32:55.10\00:32:56.44 We teach them how to write the script, how to do the story 00:32:56.47\00:32:58.64 boarding, how to film with 4K cameras, how to edit 00:32:58.67\00:33:02.01 on Final Cut Pro, and we let them use 00:33:02.04\00:33:04.21 MacBook Pros to do that, and then we have a film festival 00:33:04.25\00:33:07.42 through the 3ABN church at the end of those two weeks, 00:33:07.45\00:33:09.48 for them to show what they've made. 00:33:09.52\00:33:10.85 It was a huge success the year that we did it, last year. 00:33:10.89\00:33:13.46 And then we also have a nine month internship training 00:33:13.49\00:33:16.56 program called Idea. 00:33:16.59\00:33:17.93 This is one of our Interns actually giving a devotional 00:33:17.96\00:33:20.26 at Harvard Hills Academy, where we did a 00:33:20.30\00:33:22.33 Week of Prayer this last Fall. 00:33:22.36\00:33:23.73 And the next picture is of small groups happening in Texas, 00:33:23.77\00:33:28.67 where we had a youth event called War Plans, 00:33:28.70\00:33:30.67 basically training churches to start small groups, 00:33:30.71\00:33:33.44 and particularly to grow their youth groups in their community 00:33:33.48\00:33:36.54 dealing with heart issues for young people, short and to the 00:33:36.58\00:33:39.08 point like Ted Talk format. 00:33:39.11\00:33:40.62 Then they break into small groups and start 00:33:40.65\00:33:42.12 to digest even more. 00:33:42.15\00:33:43.49 And then we kind of leave them with materials to watch 00:33:43.52\00:33:45.75 together, then do small groups for the following weeks 00:33:45.79\00:33:48.19 to grow their youth group. 00:33:48.22\00:33:49.56 So that's our burden is media and evangelism. 00:33:49.59\00:33:52.43 The Idea program, the nine months training program is 00:33:52.46\00:33:55.36 basically like film school, and a school of 00:33:55.40\00:33:57.47 evangelism put together. 00:33:57.50\00:33:58.83 So if people have an interest in digital media, 00:33:58.87\00:34:01.10 but also have an interest in how to give a Bible study, 00:34:01.14\00:34:03.74 how to preach, how to share their faith. 00:34:03.77\00:34:05.44 We teach them all of that, and it's an internship format. 00:34:05.47\00:34:08.48 So it's not just sit in a classroom all day, and learning. 00:34:08.51\00:34:11.68 It's very, very hands on. 00:34:11.71\00:34:13.18 So when I travel and do a Week of Prayer, and speak at a 00:34:13.21\00:34:15.22 school somewhere, they come with; they share too. 00:34:15.25\00:34:17.75 When we travel and do film, for GYC and others, our girls last 00:34:17.79\00:34:21.52 year actually filmed that, and did the editing for it. 00:34:21.56\00:34:23.79 So you get to work on hands on projects to advance the 00:34:23.83\00:34:26.70 world church's mission. 00:34:26.73\00:34:28.06 It's an awesome opportunity. 00:34:28.10\00:34:29.43 We're really excited for it. 00:34:29.46\00:34:30.80 So that's the ministry side that we're doing. 00:34:30.83\00:34:32.63 We travel and speak in churches, we do weekends, Week of Prayers, 00:34:32.67\00:34:36.97 and any youth event; things like that. 00:34:37.01\00:34:38.87 That's one of our biggest burdens is to not just make 00:34:38.91\00:34:41.08 content, but also be involved in personal ministry. 00:34:41.11\00:34:44.18 And probably the most amazing testimony I've witnessed in the 00:34:44.21\00:34:48.18 time that I've been at UnScene, since of August of 2015 is 00:34:48.22\00:34:52.35 someone that was given a DVD of a sermon I shared 00:34:52.39\00:34:55.06 at the church locally. 00:34:55.09\00:34:56.42 So running this filmmaking industry has allowed us to do 00:34:56.46\00:34:59.59 lots of personal ministry, and preach in churches, 00:34:59.63\00:35:01.96 and do other things. 00:35:02.00\00:35:03.33 That's what keeps the doors open. 00:35:03.37\00:35:04.70 So one opportunity that came from this was I preached in a 00:35:04.73\00:35:06.43 church, and a family member gave them the DVD, The Message. 00:35:06.47\00:35:08.94 And I covered the sufferings of Christ 00:35:08.97\00:35:10.34 from Gethsemane through the cross. 00:35:10.37\00:35:12.07 And this person has wrestled with homosexuality for years, 00:35:12.11\00:35:16.75 since they were a young person. 00:35:16.78\00:35:18.45 And they heard this message, and they had the most profound 00:35:18.48\00:35:22.45 response to the gospel I've ever seen in my life. 00:35:22.48\00:35:24.75 And they could not turn this message off. 00:35:24.79\00:35:28.59 They literally put it on repeat when the message ended, 00:35:28.62\00:35:30.53 and put that on nonstop repeat for days. 00:35:30.56\00:35:33.70 They even left this thing playing for their dogs to listen 00:35:33.73\00:35:36.26 to when they left their house. 00:35:36.30\00:35:37.63 They couldn't turn it off, because for the first time 00:35:37.67\00:35:40.20 in his life he saw that he could be saved. 00:35:40.24\00:35:42.50 First time in his life! 00:35:42.54\00:35:44.27 He had an awful experience in religion; 00:35:44.31\00:35:45.77 not in Adventism, another church. 00:35:45.81\00:35:47.38 But he'd just been, had received a whole lot of scrutiny, 00:35:47.41\00:35:50.51 and unbelief being heaped upon him by Christians. 00:35:50.55\00:35:53.88 And so he thought, If this is the way Christians feel 00:35:53.92\00:35:56.25 about me, this must be the way that God feels about me. 00:35:56.28\00:35:58.39 But to hear this message he saw that God is not hate, 00:35:58.42\00:36:01.72 and that God actually loves and cares for me. 00:36:01.76\00:36:04.46 And what ended up happening was... 00:36:04.49\00:36:06.06 He told me the most profound thing I've 00:36:06.09\00:36:07.86 ever heard in my life. 00:36:07.90\00:36:09.23 He said, That message separated me from being gay. 00:36:09.26\00:36:13.37 It literally separated him from a former identity he'd had. 00:36:13.40\00:36:18.14 And he said that it was, For the first time in my life I saw 00:36:18.17\00:36:20.88 that I don't have to identify myself as a homosexual; 00:36:20.91\00:36:23.65 that Jesus doesn't see me that way. 00:36:23.68\00:36:25.85 And just an amazing, an amazing story that has continued to 00:36:25.88\00:36:30.02 strengthen my faith in the gospel, and to know that because 00:36:30.05\00:36:33.15 of the work that God has allowed us to do in filmmaking, 00:36:33.19\00:36:35.29 we can actually see this make a difference in people's lives 00:36:35.32\00:36:37.79 all around the country. 00:36:37.83\00:36:39.16 Dee, if I'm hearing correctly, and it's very moving. Thank you. 00:36:39.19\00:36:43.57 There's two really good good passions, 00:36:43.60\00:36:46.13 two really strong passions you have: one is training. Yes. 00:36:46.17\00:36:50.21 You want to train other people, especially young people, 00:36:50.24\00:36:52.44 to be able to utilize the passion that God has given them 00:36:52.47\00:36:56.14 in their skill development, but you're also reaching out and 00:36:56.18\00:36:58.71 touching specific people through your ministry. 00:36:58.75\00:37:01.45 Yeah, personal ministry 100%. 00:37:01.48\00:37:03.22 That's awesome! Thank you very very much for what you're doing. 00:37:03.25\00:37:05.25 Thank you. 00:37:05.29\00:37:06.62 It's my privilege to introduce my good friend Radim Passer. 00:37:06.65\00:37:09.89 Radim hails, he comes from the beautiful city of Prague, 00:37:09.92\00:37:15.76 Czech Republic, and Radim is a businessman. 00:37:15.80\00:37:20.07 He actually is in commercial... 00:37:20.10\00:37:22.20 He makes his living in commercial real estate. 00:37:22.24\00:37:24.24 We have two commercial real estate people up here today. 00:37:24.27\00:37:26.27 But Radim, several years ago you discovered that your passion 00:37:26.31\00:37:32.55 was to see people come to Christ, and evangelism. 00:37:32.58\00:37:36.92 And you heard about a little program called New Beginnings. 00:37:36.95\00:37:40.02 And I want you just to tell us a little bit about how you have 00:37:40.06\00:37:45.29 used New Beginnings, which of course, all of you know is 00:37:45.33\00:37:49.13 the DVD project where we actually teach 00:37:49.16\00:37:52.40 laypeople to preach sermons. 00:37:52.43\00:37:55.47 You've used that extensively in Prague. Tell us about it. 00:37:55.50\00:37:58.87 Good evening guests. 00:37:58.91\00:38:01.41 We would like to thank the ASI family for the amazing tool, 00:38:01.44\00:38:06.41 which is New Beginnings. 00:38:06.45\00:38:07.88 Using this project typically two ways: one of them is public 00:38:07.92\00:38:15.22 meetings, typically five times a week, 00:38:15.26\00:38:17.53 which we are doing once a year. 00:38:17.56\00:38:20.86 And we started about one and a half years ago to do something 00:38:20.90\00:38:24.43 for the business people. 00:38:24.47\00:38:25.80 Because business people very rarely can attend all 00:38:25.83\00:38:29.67 these meetings five times a week. 00:38:29.70\00:38:31.64 So we decided to prepare for people from the business 00:38:31.67\00:38:34.64 community during three days, all 26 lectures, 00:38:34.68\00:38:38.91 plus the life story of the preacher. 00:38:38.95\00:38:40.75 And things got... It's feasible. 00:38:40.78\00:38:44.22 That's awesome. So two ways. 00:38:44.25\00:38:46.52 I just want to point out, the traditional way of preaching 00:38:46.55\00:38:48.52 you've used, where you do the regular programs, 00:38:48.56\00:38:51.49 but also the intensive, and that intensive is something new. 00:38:51.53\00:38:55.10 We've all been very impressed watching that three 00:38:55.13\00:38:58.33 day intensive, Radim. 00:38:58.37\00:38:59.70 You've tested that out. 00:38:59.73\00:39:01.07 Sometimes the Europeans lead the way. 00:39:01.10\00:39:03.10 And we're glad for that. 00:39:03.14\00:39:05.34 But, you know, there was an experience that you had. 00:39:05.37\00:39:08.74 You took a group down to Tanzania. 00:39:08.78\00:39:11.08 And in Tanzania you were going to do a mission trip from 00:39:11.78\00:39:15.18 Central Europe, and you were going to go on that project. 00:39:15.68\00:39:19.39 Tell us a little bit about how many people you took, 00:39:19.42\00:39:21.92 and how this guy sitting next to you, Richard... 00:39:21.96\00:39:24.23 Richard, glad to have you here, too. 00:39:24.26\00:39:26.53 ...how Richard got involved in this. 00:39:26.56\00:39:28.06 I worked with Richard's father a long time for private 00:39:28.10\00:39:32.07 videos, and for the corporation videos for us. 00:39:32.10\00:39:34.84 And his father asked me before we went to Tanzania to take 00:39:34.87\00:39:40.98 also his son with us. 00:39:41.01\00:39:43.04 And my decision was immediate, because I hoped it would be 00:39:43.08\00:39:47.98 a great experience for him. 00:39:48.02\00:39:49.35 Okay, now Richard, I want to direct the question to you now. 00:39:49.38\00:39:54.26 You got to go on this trip. 00:39:54.29\00:39:55.92 What was your situation right at that time in your life? 00:39:55.96\00:40:00.10 Well, Dan, my situation, I can tell you at that 00:40:00.13\00:40:03.97 time I was a big mess. 00:40:04.00\00:40:05.33 I was a big wreck. In my high school years I ended up 00:40:05.37\00:40:09.87 experimenting with some drugs and I ended up being addicted 00:40:09.90\00:40:13.88 for about ten years of my life. 00:40:13.91\00:40:15.74 And right around the time that I met Radim is about the time 00:40:15.78\00:40:20.22 that my Mom had enough with me over here in the 00:40:20.25\00:40:22.58 United States, and she said, Go back to your father and work 00:40:22.62\00:40:26.19 with him for some time. 00:40:26.22\00:40:27.56 Maybe he'll straighten out. 00:40:27.59\00:40:28.92 So thinking that I would just go back to the Czech Republic 00:40:28.96\00:40:32.26 and kind of escape this addiction... 00:40:32.29\00:40:35.10 Um, that did not happen. 00:40:35.13\00:40:37.33 Actually it got even worse. 00:40:37.37\00:40:38.70 I ended up using Heroin and methamphetamines over there. 00:40:38.73\00:40:41.54 I did end up meeting Radim, and started doing some video 00:40:41.57\00:40:46.74 work for him with my father. 00:40:46.78\00:40:48.71 And some of the first work that we had the opportunity to do 00:40:48.74\00:40:52.95 was the New Beginnings. 00:40:52.98\00:40:54.32 And when we started the New Beginnings I started seeing 00:40:54.35\00:40:57.55 some very revolutionary things that I never heard of. 00:40:57.59\00:41:01.82 I mean I've heard of Jesus before, but just as, you know, 00:41:01.86\00:41:04.93 some maybe mythical character. 00:41:04.96\00:41:06.90 But the things that I heard there, the whole 25 lectures 00:41:06.93\00:41:10.67 we had, I mean my world got flipped upside down. 00:41:10.70\00:41:13.50 And so that was the beginning of maybe some sort of at least 00:41:13.54\00:41:19.87 a mental transformation. 00:41:19.91\00:41:21.78 So then soon enough I heard the theory, because I did 00:41:21.81\00:41:25.78 three of those seminars. 00:41:25.81\00:41:28.05 And after that... But my addiction kept 00:41:28.08\00:41:31.39 getting worse and worse. 00:41:31.42\00:41:32.75 I mean I was just a wreck. 00:41:32.79\00:41:34.76 I mean I could still video tape, I could still function and all 00:41:34.79\00:41:37.79 that, but as long as I had my dose. 00:41:37.83\00:41:40.36 That was priority at that time. 00:41:40.40\00:41:41.90 That was my God. So what ended up happening, my father already 00:41:41.93\00:41:45.60 knew of that, so he asked Radim, He said, Look, can I take 00:41:45.63\00:41:49.27 my son with me to Tanzania? 00:41:49.30\00:41:51.47 Maybe that will have an influence, because, I mean, 00:41:51.51\00:41:53.61 trust me, he was hopeless with me. 00:41:53.64\00:41:55.08 I mean he didn't know what to do anymore. 00:41:55.11\00:41:57.18 So Radim said yes, and I appreciated that a lot, 00:41:57.21\00:42:00.02 because they knew about my situation and, you know, 00:42:00.05\00:42:02.65 I was sketchy to say the least. 00:42:02.68\00:42:04.02 So we have, you know, risk takers. 00:42:04.05\00:42:06.59 One of the things about ASI; business people 00:42:06.62\00:42:08.42 have to be risk takers. 00:42:08.46\00:42:10.09 So, Radim, you took a risk that this guy could come and 00:42:10.13\00:42:14.50 still contribute, right? 00:42:14.53\00:42:15.86 Are you glad you did that risk? 00:42:15.90\00:42:17.73 We are all risky people for Jesus. 00:42:17.77\00:42:19.97 That's right. We're looking for Jesus. 00:42:20.00\00:42:21.57 So you were grateful that he took the risk on you, Richard. 00:42:21.60\00:42:24.37 And you recognized that he was taking a risk? 00:42:24.41\00:42:26.81 Yeah, I did recognize that. 00:42:26.84\00:42:28.74 I mean it was a big risk, but at the same time, what ended up 00:42:28.78\00:42:31.88 happening is that I was there for about one month. 00:42:31.91\00:42:34.22 And that was the first time that I was actually in a 00:42:34.25\00:42:37.39 community with Seventh-day Adventists for one month. 00:42:37.42\00:42:39.99 I mean you couldn't go anywhere, you know. 00:42:40.02\00:42:42.16 And I met this other guy, Bill, and he had the same experience; 00:42:42.19\00:42:45.16 or he went through an addiction as well. 00:42:45.86\00:42:47.63 So I talked to him, and he was the first person I 00:42:47.66\00:42:50.43 actually opened up to. 00:42:50.47\00:42:51.80 Because at that time I was kind of hiding it. 00:42:51.83\00:42:53.37 I mean I was kind of embarrassed about it. 00:42:53.40\00:42:54.80 So Bill was like, Man, I was, you know, I was an addict 00:42:54.84\00:42:59.44 as well with my wife, but we gave ourselves to the Lord, 00:42:59.47\00:43:01.74 and from day to day it was just gone. 00:43:01.78\00:43:03.95 From that time, I mean, I was just going through hopelessness. 00:43:03.98\00:43:06.88 I thought it was never going to end. 00:43:06.92\00:43:08.25 I mean they tell you, you know, at all these meetings in AA, 00:43:08.28\00:43:10.62 and all that, that like, Oh, you're an addict for life. 00:43:10.65\00:43:12.85 So that's a very helpless situation. 00:43:12.89\00:43:15.76 But, so he was like, Just give yourself over to Jesus. 00:43:15.79\00:43:19.79 Just talk to Him. Pray. 00:43:19.83\00:43:21.26 So I went back to the Czech Republic after this 00:43:21.30\00:43:23.90 whole inspiring moment. 00:43:23.93\00:43:25.27 And about... It still took me about another two years. 00:43:25.30\00:43:27.44 I mean it was quite some time. 00:43:27.47\00:43:28.80 And I went to rehab there. 00:43:28.84\00:43:30.74 And I did just that when that big withdrawal came through, 00:43:30.77\00:43:34.11 because that was seven years of opiates. 00:43:34.14\00:43:35.78 And I can tell you right now that's, it's rough. 00:43:35.81\00:43:39.25 So over there in the detox I said, Lord, I was like, 00:43:39.28\00:43:43.49 if You're out there, and if You're listening to me like 00:43:43.52\00:43:45.95 all these people said that You were, I promise 00:43:45.99\00:43:49.29 I will go the right way. 00:43:49.32\00:43:50.66 Just get me out of this situation. 00:43:50.69\00:43:52.03 And I can tell you that the next day He did just that. 00:43:52.06\00:43:55.13 Amen! Amen! I want you all to know... 00:43:55.16\00:43:57.90 Yeah, thank you! Go ahead! 00:43:57.93\00:43:59.27 Say, express your feelings! 00:43:59.30\00:44:00.67 Um, there's a two part formula that Richard has shared. 00:44:01.24\00:44:07.64 And I want all of you, both those of you who may be watching 00:44:07.68\00:44:10.35 from home right now, those of you who are in the audience, 00:44:10.38\00:44:12.85 you may have struggled with addictions yourself. 00:44:12.88\00:44:16.62 You may have a family member that struggles with addictions. 00:44:17.22\00:44:20.62 Addictions are everywhere in our society. 00:44:21.76\00:44:24.06 But I want you to know that here's a man that had a 00:44:24.09\00:44:26.59 two pronged approach: one was give your heart to 00:44:26.63\00:44:30.17 Jesus and pray, right? 00:44:30.20\00:44:31.77 When a man gives, or a woman gives their heart to Jesus, 00:44:31.80\00:44:34.37 and prays, things happen. 00:44:34.40\00:44:35.74 Secondly, you got professional help, and went into rehab. 00:44:35.77\00:44:38.37 And the prayers were answered, and you have had an incredible 00:44:38.41\00:44:42.44 journey since that time. 00:44:42.48\00:44:44.05 Now I want to take a few more minutes and just talk about 00:44:44.08\00:44:46.88 your journey, okay? 00:44:46.92\00:44:49.38 Now in that journey, since you had that victory, and you began, 00:44:49.42\00:44:52.92 your life has been full of all kinds of things. 00:44:52.95\00:44:55.69 Tell us a little bit about that. 00:44:55.72\00:44:57.36 Okay, so the first thing was after this miraculous healing 00:44:57.39\00:45:02.36 that came about, and this is just after one prayer. 00:45:02.40\00:45:05.07 That, I mean I didn't do anything else, I just prayed. 00:45:05.10\00:45:07.80 So the next day I felt like I was maybe ten years younger. 00:45:07.84\00:45:11.27 So, and I had this like tingle in my spine, and I just knew 00:45:11.31\00:45:14.61 that this was the way. 00:45:14.64\00:45:16.08 I mean everything just clicked from what I learned from the 00:45:16.11\00:45:19.35 New Beginnings, and everything just clicked in altogether. 00:45:19.38\00:45:21.68 And so what happened then is that, obviously, I went through 00:45:22.08\00:45:24.75 the whole rehab and I came out fresh. 00:45:24.79\00:45:26.59 I mean I went out of there, I was like, 00:45:26.62\00:45:28.42 I'm drug free for life. 00:45:28.46\00:45:29.79 I mean people were like, Oh, you're crazy. 00:45:29.82\00:45:31.19 You know, you'll be back here again. 00:45:31.23\00:45:32.56 And, you know, they're doubting, you know that. 00:45:32.59\00:45:34.10 But I knew already in my heart that once I followed Jesus, 00:45:34.13\00:45:37.63 that He'll be able to get me out. 00:45:37.67\00:45:39.40 And, you know, frankly I was like, Well, what I was doing 00:45:39.43\00:45:43.07 back then was bad, so I needed to go the totally 00:45:43.10\00:45:45.87 opposite direction, not just stay off of drugs. 00:45:45.91\00:45:47.74 I mean I needed to go the whole nine yards, 00:45:47.78\00:45:49.98 as far away as I can. 00:45:50.01\00:45:51.41 And I was like, Well, the best thing to do is to follow Jesus. 00:45:51.45\00:45:55.38 I mean He was sinless. 00:45:55.42\00:45:57.09 I mean, you know, He was the definition of good. 00:45:57.12\00:45:59.75 Yeah. So I did just that. 00:45:59.79\00:46:02.02 And from then on I figured, I was like, 00:46:02.06\00:46:04.83 I've got to tell more people about this. 00:46:04.86\00:46:06.19 I mean, obviously, I mean this is, if I would have known this 00:46:06.23\00:46:08.23 earlier I would have done this way back. 00:46:08.26\00:46:10.13 So what ended up happening is I ended up going back to the 00:46:10.17\00:46:13.00 rehab, because there were these AA meetings that you're 00:46:13.03\00:46:15.64 allowed to go back to as a member of 00:46:15.67\00:46:18.04 the rehab; Prague's finest. 00:46:18.07\00:46:20.41 I was able to go back over there and share my 00:46:20.44\00:46:25.75 testimony with them. 00:46:25.78\00:46:27.12 During the wintertime I go there at least once a week, so... 00:46:27.15\00:46:30.75 Okay, good! My last question. 00:46:30.79\00:46:32.62 I just want to ask, If you... 00:46:32.65\00:46:34.82 Lots of people are listening to you right now. 00:46:34.86\00:46:36.26 And your testimony is a very powerful one, Richard. 00:46:36.29\00:46:39.33 If you could say anything you wanted to any of these people, 00:46:39.36\00:46:41.76 or anybody who might be watching on television, 00:46:41.80\00:46:43.40 what would you say? 00:46:43.43\00:46:44.77 Okay, well I would say that we do have to understand that 00:46:44.80\00:46:49.37 it's really difficult with addicts. 00:46:49.40\00:46:50.74 I mean you can't trust them, which is why I was even 00:46:50.77\00:46:54.64 surprised that Radim did. 00:46:54.68\00:46:56.01 I mean knowing that, I would, I could cause a lot of trouble. 00:46:56.04\00:46:59.78 I was very unreliable. 00:46:59.81\00:47:01.28 So I would say to them definitely have 00:47:01.32\00:47:05.45 compassion, and a lot of love. 00:47:05.49\00:47:07.09 You know, the trust part you always have to keep an eye out, 00:47:07.12\00:47:11.89 nut the prayer, I think, is very important. 00:47:11.93\00:47:13.96 The prayer is really important, because I know that Radim and 00:47:14.00\00:47:17.57 a bunch of people from the organization were praying for 00:47:17.60\00:47:19.80 me, because my dad reached out to them. 00:47:19.83\00:47:21.44 I didn't know that until later. 00:47:21.47\00:47:23.00 And so the prayer is definitely very important. 00:47:23.04\00:47:25.91 And then, like you said in the beginning, the involvement 00:47:25.94\00:47:29.04 in the community, I think, was very strong for me. 00:47:29.08\00:47:31.08 I mean that was a big testimony, because you can hear a lot of 00:47:31.11\00:47:34.22 things, let's say on the street, but when you involve somebody 00:47:34.25\00:47:38.45 in like a Seventh-day Adventist community, 00:47:38.49\00:47:41.89 that they can see the true love. 00:47:41.92\00:47:43.63 I mean I was telling myself, I was like, These people have 00:47:43.66\00:47:46.63 something that I've never had. 00:47:46.66\00:47:48.20 I mean they have some kind of love that I really, really want. 00:47:48.23\00:47:51.03 And that's what ended up happening. 00:47:51.07\00:47:52.73 That's what ended up drawing me near to that. 00:47:52.77\00:47:55.34 So the prayer and then the involvement. 00:47:55.37\00:47:57.97 Amen, can you say Amen? Amen! 00:47:58.01\00:48:00.28 Thank you all. Now Radim are you... 00:48:00.31\00:48:01.71 Last question. Are you glad that you invited him to Tanzania? 00:48:01.74\00:48:04.31 I am grateful to God, because He is so good, and always, 00:48:04.35\00:48:09.48 this is experience, by experience. 00:48:09.52\00:48:12.25 He's overcame our expectations. 00:48:12.29\00:48:15.02 Amen, Amen! Thank you! 00:48:15.06\00:48:17.03 I remember once upon a time I was... 00:48:18.09\00:48:21.43 I started Pastoring very early. 00:48:21.46\00:48:24.60 I was about 21 years old. 00:48:24.63\00:48:26.74 And I remember sitting in my first board meeting. 00:48:26.77\00:48:29.37 And I asked them... I didn't know about 00:48:29.40\00:48:31.71 or anything of that kind, and I said, 00:48:33.27\00:48:35.08 That board meeting started at about 6:00 o'clock, and we ended 00:48:37.31\00:48:40.58 at 10:00 o'clock that evening: 4 hours! 00:48:40.62\00:48:43.79 I learned an important thing about organization, and that is 00:48:43.85\00:48:50.66 before we expect to have a great outcome, we must be willing 00:48:50.69\00:48:54.26 to work beforehand. 00:48:54.30\00:48:55.63 The reason why that board meeting took about four hours 00:48:55.66\00:48:58.60 is I realized that I had not, I didn't have the tools to do 00:48:58.63\00:49:03.04 something great, or to organize the meeting. 00:49:03.07\00:49:05.31 And as a result we dragged on and wasted time. 00:49:05.34\00:49:09.78 And I really think things like ASI, GYC, 00:49:09.81\00:49:12.21 help with those things. 00:49:12.25\00:49:13.58 They give you tools. 00:49:13.62\00:49:14.95 They give you a vision so that you're able to work well 00:49:14.98\00:49:18.12 and not waste people's time, and really have a great outcome, 00:49:18.15\00:49:21.96 idea, and be efficient. 00:49:22.02\00:49:23.73 And that is my tip that I want to leave with you: work, and 00:49:23.76\00:49:28.86 work, and work well. 00:49:28.90\00:49:30.53
