Number 39. 00:02:07.92\00:02:11.19 And then if you have that, you can follow along with us. 00:02:11.29\00:02:16.13 Before we do anything else though, we're going to 00:02:16.56\00:02:17.93 sing our theme song. 00:02:17.97\00:02:19.30 And our theme song is, Victory in Jesus. 00:02:19.33\00:02:22.64 So join us as we sing our theme song together. 00:02:22.67\00:02:25.34 I heard an old, old story, how the Savior came from glory, 00:02:33.21\00:02:40.59 how He gave His life on Calvary to save a wretch like me. 00:02:40.62\00:02:48.16 I heard about His groaning, of His precious blood's atoning. 00:02:48.20\00:02:55.80 Then I repented of my sins and won the victory. 00:02:55.84\00:03:03.11 O victory in Jesus, my Savior forever. 00:03:03.14\00:03:10.65 He sought me and bought me with His redeeming blood. 00:03:10.69\00:03:18.36 He loved me ere I knew Him, and all my love is due Him. 00:03:18.39\00:03:25.87 He plunged me to victory beneath the cleansing flood. 00:03:25.90\00:03:33.54 I heard about a mansion He has built for me in glory, 00:03:33.58\00:03:40.98 and I heard about the streets of gold beyond the crystal sea, 00:03:41.02\00:03:48.56 about the angels singing and the old redemption story. 00:03:48.59\00:03:56.16 And some sweet day I'll sing up there the song of victory. 00:03:56.20\00:04:03.00 O victory in Jesus, my Savior forever. 00:04:03.04\00:04:11.25 He sought me and bought me with His redeeming blood. 00:04:11.28\00:04:18.85 He loved me ere I knew Him, and all my love is due Him. 00:04:18.89\00:04:26.39 He plunged me to victory beneath the cleansing flood. 00:04:26.49\00:04:33.84 He plunged me to victory beneath the cleansing flood. 00:04:34.24\00:04:43.88 Amen. Amen. 00:04:44.55\00:04:46.75 Tonight our topic is, The Truth About..., 00:04:47.72\00:04:50.49 together with me, ...Our Greatest Need. 00:04:50.69\00:04:54.89 Now go with me to the book of Philippians very quickly 00:04:55.92\00:04:59.69 as I lay some foundation. 00:04:59.73\00:05:01.70 The book of Philippians. 00:05:02.70\00:05:04.03 It's become one of my favorite books in the Bible. 00:05:04.07\00:05:06.23 I call it, the Olympic book. 00:05:06.74\00:05:08.87 The Olympic book. 00:05:09.60\00:05:11.11 Alright, Philippians. Philippians. 00:05:11.91\00:05:16.88 And we're going to look at the promises that the Lord 00:05:18.15\00:05:25.65 has made to us. 00:05:25.79\00:05:27.66 We're going to go to chapter 4 of Philippians 00:05:27.86\00:05:30.83 and look at verse 13 together. 00:05:31.39\00:05:34.40 Now since we talk about our greatest need, 00:05:34.83\00:05:36.97 we need to know something about our greatest need. 00:05:37.00\00:05:40.67 Look at the promise that the Lord has made. 00:05:40.70\00:05:42.67 And the Bible says in Philippians 4:19. 00:05:43.41\00:05:47.81 I said 13? I mean 19. 00:05:47.84\00:05:50.65 The Bible says, "And my God shall supply..." What? 00:05:50.85\00:05:54.22 "...all your need according to His riches 00:05:54.65\00:05:59.62 in glory by Christ Jesus." 00:05:59.65\00:06:02.32 Now a lot of times we read that verse, 00:06:02.42\00:06:04.33 we think of money right away. 00:06:04.36\00:06:06.03 Because the word, "riches," is in that. 00:06:06.39\00:06:08.76 We think, "Well, I need money, so God is going to supply 00:06:08.80\00:06:11.57 all my needs because He's rich." 00:06:11.60\00:06:13.64 And we start saying, "Well, how much do I need?" 00:06:13.84\00:06:15.70 And we start calling on God for money. 00:06:15.74\00:06:18.24 But that's not what that text means. 00:06:18.27\00:06:20.24 Because it says, "according to His riches in glory 00:06:20.58\00:06:24.18 by Christ Jesus." 00:06:24.81\00:06:26.21 And the Bible says, "Fear God and give glory to Him." 00:06:26.25\00:06:29.32 Now the riches is the riches not only of His provision, 00:06:29.68\00:06:34.32 but the riches of His grace. 00:06:34.36\00:06:36.52 And is God rich in grace? 00:06:36.96\00:06:39.16 Yes He is. 00:06:39.43\00:06:40.76 But not only the richness of His grace, and the riches of glory, 00:06:40.80\00:06:44.10 and the riches of His provision, but also God is rich in mercy. 00:06:44.47\00:06:49.34 God is rich, period. 00:06:50.51\00:06:52.51 But when we read that text, in order for us to understand 00:06:52.91\00:06:56.85 the benefit of this lesson about our greatest need, 00:06:56.88\00:06:59.45 we need to know that whatever that need is, 00:06:59.88\00:07:02.15 "My God shall supply..." What? 00:07:02.18\00:07:04.29 "...all our need according to His riches in glory 00:07:04.52\00:07:09.19 by Christ Jesus." 00:07:09.22\00:07:10.83 So when you get stuck on the financial needs, 00:07:11.19\00:07:14.53 don't pause there, because God can provide 00:07:14.63\00:07:18.27 every need that we have. 00:07:18.30\00:07:19.70 And sometimes we have the need of forgiveness. 00:07:19.73\00:07:22.00 Sometimes we have the need of Him leading us 00:07:22.20\00:07:24.47 to the place of repentance. 00:07:24.51\00:07:26.04 Sometimes we have the need of comfort. 00:07:26.07\00:07:28.41 And sometimes we have the need of just 00:07:28.71\00:07:30.55 knowing that we count. 00:07:30.58\00:07:31.91 And the Lord will provide all of our need according to 00:07:32.08\00:07:34.62 His riches in glory. 00:07:34.88\00:07:37.12 Now in order for us to even benefit further from this, 00:07:37.52\00:07:40.92 we need to understand a few things that's true about us. 00:07:40.96\00:07:43.43 Go with me to the book of Jeremiah. 00:07:43.69\00:07:46.26 Jeremiah. 00:07:46.83\00:07:48.16 Because when we were born into this world, 00:07:48.20\00:07:50.80 we were not born rich. 00:07:50.83\00:07:52.43 I'm not talking about financially. 00:07:52.63\00:07:53.97 Because some people inherited money from their relatives, 00:07:54.00\00:07:56.44 some people were beneficiaries, some people were executors. 00:07:57.71\00:08:03.48 Some people didn't know how much was laid up for them 00:08:03.75\00:08:07.05 until their loved one died or they inherited something. 00:08:07.25\00:08:11.15 Well you know, we are inheritors. 00:08:11.62\00:08:13.66 We are inheritors of the grace of God, the salvation of Jesus. 00:08:13.69\00:08:18.73 But we ought to understand something about our condition. 00:08:19.03\00:08:21.96 I said Jeremiah what? 00:08:22.50\00:08:23.97 Seventeen, and let's look at how we were born. 00:08:24.73\00:08:29.24 This is kind of a depressing text. 00:08:30.04\00:08:32.04 I think that's an understatement. 00:08:32.94\00:08:34.54 Jeremiah 17, and let's look together at verse 9. 00:08:35.88\00:08:41.68 Wow! 00:08:41.88\00:08:43.22 Now the reason why this passage is there, 00:08:43.95\00:08:45.92 you only have to understand it in context of 00:08:45.95\00:08:48.62 what the Lord said in verse 7. 00:08:48.66\00:08:50.16 Because we often read Jeremiah 17:9, 00:08:50.19\00:08:53.29 but we don't really read before that. 00:08:53.66\00:08:56.70 The context of this is, you can trust the Lord's heart 00:08:56.73\00:09:01.20 but you can't trust man's heart. 00:09:01.40\00:09:03.67 Look at verse 9. Look at verse 7. 00:09:04.17\00:09:06.31 The Bible says, Jeremiah 17:7, "Blessed is the man..." 00:09:06.91\00:09:11.71 Who does what? 00:09:11.75\00:09:13.08 "...who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is in the Lord." 00:09:13.31\00:09:19.02 And I'm going to continue reading verse 8, 00:09:19.12\00:09:20.52 and then to verse 9. 00:09:20.56\00:09:21.89 "For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters..." 00:09:22.12\00:09:25.23 Sounds like Psalm 1, right? 00:09:25.33\00:09:27.10 Planted by the waters. 00:09:27.76\00:09:29.36 "...which spreads out its roots by the river, 00:09:29.73\00:09:33.07 and will not fear when heat comes; 00:09:34.20\00:09:37.01 but its leaf will be green, and will not be anxious 00:09:37.31\00:09:41.91 in the year of drought, nor will cease from yielding fruit." 00:09:41.94\00:09:46.51 Now that's the context of it. 00:09:46.78\00:09:48.18 In other words, you can trust God. 00:09:48.22\00:09:49.55 Whatever you commit to God, He's going to make it prosper. 00:09:49.58\00:09:52.35 But he says, "But what about man?" 00:09:52.75\00:09:54.39 So if you now try to put your trust towards man, 00:09:54.66\00:09:56.73 what's going to happen? 00:09:56.76\00:09:58.09 This is where verse 9 comes in. 00:09:58.26\00:09:59.89 The Bible says, "The heart is deceitful above..." 00:10:00.40\00:10:03.30 How many things? 00:10:03.33\00:10:04.67 "...all things..." And what else? 00:10:04.70\00:10:06.10 "...desperately wicked." 00:10:06.27\00:10:07.70 And here's the question. "Who can know it?" 00:10:07.74\00:10:09.77 We can know God's heart because He's made promises. 00:10:10.01\00:10:12.31 He says, "You'll be like a tree planted. 00:10:12.34\00:10:14.84 Your leaves won't wither. 00:10:14.88\00:10:16.78 Whatever you plant is going to come to fruition." 00:10:16.81\00:10:18.85 And the tree doesn't even have to be anxious when it's hot. 00:10:18.98\00:10:21.82 And the context there is, when drought comes, 00:10:21.88\00:10:24.62 whatever you plant God will bring to fruition. 00:10:24.92\00:10:27.52 So God is able to supply all of our need. 00:10:29.02\00:10:32.03 He's able to prevent drought from causing our crops to fail. 00:10:32.06\00:10:37.60 God is able to provide all of our need. 00:10:37.93\00:10:40.00 But he said, "But don't trust your heart. 00:10:40.14\00:10:43.61 Because your heart may make a promise, but it can't keep it." 00:10:43.64\00:10:47.04 But God wants to provide all of our need. 00:10:48.68\00:10:50.78 And now I want to go to Jeremiah... 00:10:50.98\00:10:52.51 I'm going to go to question number five. 00:10:52.55\00:10:54.12 Since we are in Jeremiah, we're going to begin at 00:10:54.22\00:10:55.95 question number five tonight. 00:10:55.98\00:10:57.32 And let's look at this, because we have to understand 00:10:57.35\00:10:59.25 in order to benefit from the needs that God has provided. 00:10:59.45\00:11:02.62 And I think I mentioned this at the beginning of this lesson 00:11:02.66\00:11:05.36 last episode, was that we're going to talk about 00:11:05.46\00:11:09.30 not just our greatest need, we're going to talk about 00:11:09.70\00:11:11.50 repentance, we're going to talk about confession, 00:11:11.53\00:11:15.14 we're going to talk about what it means to repent. 00:11:16.00\00:11:18.11 What is conversion? 00:11:18.61\00:11:20.38 A lot of people join churches, but not very many people 00:11:20.41\00:11:22.81 repent of anything any longer. 00:11:22.84\00:11:24.71 They say, "I want to be a member, but I don't want to 00:11:25.05\00:11:26.41 repent of anything." 00:11:26.45\00:11:27.78 We're going to talk about, what is repentance? 00:11:27.82\00:11:29.45 What does it mean to repent? 00:11:29.88\00:11:31.25 What does it mean to have a heart of repentance? 00:11:31.42\00:11:33.46 Let's look at the continual picture that develops here. 00:11:33.66\00:11:36.73 Question number five, here it is. 00:11:36.76\00:11:38.49 Go to Jeremiah 13. 00:11:45.93\00:11:48.34 Just four chapters earlier. 00:11:48.77\00:11:52.47 Jeremiah 13, and we're going to look at verse 23. 00:11:52.51\00:11:57.01 Jeremiah 13:23 00:11:57.45\00:12:00.22 And look at this passage. 00:12:00.72\00:12:02.15 You may be familiar with it. 00:12:02.18\00:12:03.72 But I'd like you to read it with me. 00:12:03.75\00:12:05.12 The Bible says, together... 00:12:06.15\00:12:08.19 Now the reason why this passage is included in there, 00:12:19.43\00:12:22.07 because while people... 00:12:22.10\00:12:24.01 Let me use a story to illustrate this point. 00:12:24.47\00:12:26.57 A number of years ago I saw a picture of a man 00:12:27.14\00:12:29.24 who had during the Christmas season gone from 00:12:29.48\00:12:32.01 one orphanage to the other and he had a stack of 00:12:32.05\00:12:34.58 one hundred dollar bills. 00:12:34.62\00:12:35.95 And he was giving out hundred dollar bills 00:12:36.99\00:12:38.99 to people in the orphanages. 00:12:39.02\00:12:41.06 He went from one orphanage to the other. 00:12:41.32\00:12:42.89 He had a stack and he continued doing that until, I guess, 00:12:42.92\00:12:45.36 whatever he allotted had run out. 00:12:45.69\00:12:47.40 Now somebody said, "What a good heart!" 00:12:48.16\00:12:50.70 And they found out that the man was an atheist. 00:12:51.43\00:12:54.74 Didn't even believe in God. 00:12:55.20\00:12:56.74 So what somebody concluded was, it doesn't take a good heart 00:12:57.51\00:13:00.61 to do a good deed. 00:13:00.64\00:13:01.98 It doesn't take a heart that believes in Christ 00:13:03.35\00:13:05.81 to give away money. 00:13:05.85\00:13:07.18 But money is not the measurement of our salvation. 00:13:07.22\00:13:11.32 Finances is not the measurement of our salvation. 00:13:11.55\00:13:14.19 So here is what the person said. 00:13:14.22\00:13:15.56 And I want to make sure I get it right. 00:13:15.59\00:13:16.93 It doesn't take a good heart to do a good deed, 00:13:18.99\00:13:21.66 but a good heart will do a good deed. 00:13:21.70\00:13:24.17 But the deed we do does not change our heart, 00:13:24.30\00:13:26.94 and the heart does not change our deed. 00:13:28.00\00:13:30.21 Did you get that? 00:13:30.37\00:13:31.71 The deed we do doesn't change our heart, 00:13:31.74\00:13:33.44 and our heart is not changed by the deed. 00:13:33.61\00:13:35.98 It's just a deed. 00:13:36.31\00:13:37.65 So you could do a good thing, but the heart is deceitful and 00:13:37.91\00:13:40.82 desperately wicked. 00:13:40.85\00:13:42.25 And we cannot change it. 00:13:42.28\00:13:43.65 So the deed does not change our heart, 00:13:43.69\00:13:45.55 and our hearts cannot make our deed good. 00:13:45.59\00:13:48.86 So we need a good heart. 00:13:49.26\00:13:51.86 Amen? We need a good heart. 00:13:51.89\00:13:53.86 So write the answer down. 00:13:53.90\00:13:55.23 How capable are we of changing our condition? 00:13:55.26\00:13:56.90 And what is the answer? 00:13:56.93\00:13:58.27 We cannot. 00:13:58.90\00:14:00.24 An Ethiopian cannot change his ethnicity, 00:14:00.34\00:14:03.10 he can't change his skin color. 00:14:03.14\00:14:04.54 And the leopard, I have not seen a leopard change his appearance 00:14:04.57\00:14:08.28 to a zebra. 00:14:08.31\00:14:09.64 Can't do it. 00:14:09.91\00:14:11.25 Cannot change his spots. 00:14:11.35\00:14:12.91 Alright, that's the incapability. 00:14:13.75\00:14:15.58 But now let's look at the other one. 00:14:15.62\00:14:17.09 We're going to transition now. 00:14:17.29\00:14:18.79 Question number six. Question number six. 00:14:19.25\00:14:23.16 I like this. 00:14:24.13\00:14:25.46 Because we talked about a lot of conditions last week, 00:14:25.76\00:14:27.96 or in our last episode if it was not last week. 00:14:28.30\00:14:30.90 We talked about a lot of conditions. 00:14:30.93\00:14:32.53 But now when you know your condition, 00:14:32.57\00:14:34.50 when you know your condition, 00:14:34.87\00:14:36.84 when you acknowledge your condition. 00:14:37.17\00:14:39.24 Now there's one thing to know, but there's something altogether 00:14:39.27\00:14:42.41 to acknowledge. 00:14:42.44\00:14:43.78 When you go to a doctor, the doctor says, 00:14:43.88\00:14:45.45 "What's bothering you?" 00:14:45.48\00:14:46.98 You say, "Well, actually I'm just here for a check-up." 00:14:47.52\00:14:49.65 "Well, what made you come here?" 00:14:49.85\00:14:51.32 "Well, I'm not doing too bad, but I'd just like a check-up, 00:14:51.55\00:14:54.42 an overall check-up." 00:14:54.46\00:14:55.89 Well something has to urge you to go to a doctor. 00:14:56.16\00:14:58.69 If you go feeling you need to go, you need to 00:14:58.73\00:15:01.36 let the physician know what kind of symptom is showing up 00:15:01.40\00:15:05.10 so that he can somehow diagnose it 00:15:05.13\00:15:07.57 and see if there's anything wrong. 00:15:08.20\00:15:09.74 When we acknowledge... 00:15:09.94\00:15:11.57 Notice the difference between know and acknowledge. 00:15:11.61\00:15:13.48 When we acknowledge our condition, then we can 00:15:13.51\00:15:16.18 turn to the one who can make that change. 00:15:16.21\00:15:18.88 Now let me ask a couple of questions. 00:15:18.98\00:15:20.92 Can money change our condition? 00:15:21.28\00:15:23.02 No, money can't change our condition. 00:15:25.85\00:15:28.22 Can education change our condition? 00:15:28.26\00:15:30.16 No. 00:15:30.19\00:15:31.53 Can status in life change our condition? 00:15:32.53\00:15:35.86 What about our standing in the community; change our condition? 00:15:36.53\00:15:39.07 No. 00:15:39.10\00:15:40.44 Can we be saved by money, status, education? 00:15:40.94\00:15:44.71 No, absolutely not. 00:15:45.17\00:15:46.94 Nothing can change our condition. 00:15:46.98\00:15:48.91 Yet in our world today, it's amazing to me 00:15:49.38\00:15:52.18 how so many people turn away from Christ 00:15:52.21\00:15:54.28 when He is, in fact, the only... 00:15:54.55\00:15:56.85 What word did I just use? 00:15:56.89\00:15:58.22 ...the only one that can make a difference in our standing. 00:15:58.25\00:16:02.69 Not just before the world, but before God. 00:16:02.72\00:16:05.99 So let's ask the question. 00:16:06.23\00:16:07.63 What options do we have in searching for salvation? 00:16:08.03\00:16:12.57 Let's look together at Acts 4:12. 00:16:12.73\00:16:15.90 Options. 00:16:15.94\00:16:17.27 What options do we have? 00:16:17.77\00:16:19.34 Okay, you all turning there? 00:16:20.44\00:16:21.78 I guess you already turned there. 00:16:21.81\00:16:23.14 Wow, that's pretty good. 00:16:23.58\00:16:25.15 I guess you know where we're going. 00:16:25.18\00:16:26.51 What options do we have? Acts 4:12 00:16:26.95\00:16:29.45 And the Bible says... 00:16:29.88\00:16:31.29 So we live in a world today where people 00:16:48.17\00:16:51.91 call on different gods. 00:16:51.94\00:16:53.64 You know. That's right. 00:16:54.18\00:16:56.21 Muhammad, Buddha, Hare Krishna, 00:16:56.24\00:17:01.75 the millions of gods that are worshiped all throughout 00:17:03.65\00:17:06.35 various Asian countries. 00:17:06.39\00:17:08.02 In America we have a lot of gods too. 00:17:08.59\00:17:10.93 Somebody said, "To find out a person's god," 00:17:10.96\00:17:12.89 now there was a time when they said, "look at their checkbook," 00:17:12.93\00:17:14.93 but now it's, "look at their credit card statement." 00:17:14.96\00:17:17.00 Or look at their cable bill. 00:17:17.37\00:17:19.17 People find money for things that are important to them. 00:17:21.54\00:17:24.11 But when you look at this text, what our greatest need is 00:17:24.54\00:17:29.41 is right in this text. 00:17:30.05\00:17:31.55 What is our greatest need that you see in this text? 00:17:31.58\00:17:33.58 What is our greatest need? 00:17:33.62\00:17:34.95 Come on, say it again. 00:17:35.82\00:17:37.15 Salvation. 00:17:37.19\00:17:38.52 Salvation from. 00:17:38.55\00:17:39.92 Because reality is, the world is like a conveyor belt. 00:17:40.59\00:17:43.99 Anyone in the world that does not see his or her need of Jesus 00:17:44.19\00:17:48.66 is on a conveyor belt already to destruction. 00:17:48.76\00:17:51.77 I mean, that's just the way that they're going. 00:17:52.37\00:17:54.20 There's no turning left, there's no turning right. 00:17:54.24\00:17:56.50 And so when you think about, well where can I find answers 00:17:56.71\00:18:00.24 outside of Jesus? 00:18:00.28\00:18:01.61 I think somebody said it this way. 00:18:02.84\00:18:04.61 "People don't like Jesus for the same reason 00:18:04.65\00:18:08.42 they don't like certain restaurants. 00:18:08.45\00:18:10.52 Because they don't like what's on the menu." 00:18:11.95\00:18:13.76 Where's the menu? 00:18:14.19\00:18:15.52 In God's Word. 00:18:15.56\00:18:16.89 And usually people often compare, 00:18:17.39\00:18:19.89 "Well the Bible is a good book, 00:18:20.33\00:18:22.13 but I don't necessarily read the Bible." 00:18:22.40\00:18:25.43 We had a recent tragedy here in America. 00:18:25.77\00:18:28.00 A very terrible tragedy. 00:18:28.24\00:18:29.74 And a person that was, after this atrocity of 00:18:30.07\00:18:33.84 shooting and killing fifty something people in Las Vegas... 00:18:33.88\00:18:37.85 I'm trying not to date this show, but this is 00:18:38.05\00:18:39.51 important for this story. 00:18:39.55\00:18:40.98 ...they began to search his background and they said 00:18:42.12\00:18:44.45 he did not attend church, he had no religious affiliation. 00:18:45.55\00:18:48.96 He never claimed to be a Christian. 00:18:48.99\00:18:50.56 And I thought, and he died that way. 00:18:50.69\00:18:52.79 And I thought, I kind of have an idea where he 00:18:54.26\00:18:56.73 might be ending up. 00:18:56.77\00:18:58.10 Yet there is this mindset in the world today 00:18:59.83\00:19:02.67 that everybody who dies goes to heaven. 00:19:02.70\00:19:04.64 "Oh, he's in heaven now." 00:19:05.87\00:19:07.61 No, I could say for certain... 00:19:08.18\00:19:09.94 Well I'm trying to be kind. 00:19:10.15\00:19:11.88 Because I'll be very candid with you. 00:19:12.45\00:19:14.22 When you're blowing people away with an automatic weapon, 00:19:14.45\00:19:17.89 or with any kind of weapon, when you're killing people 00:19:17.92\00:19:19.95 and then you end up taking your life, 00:19:20.22\00:19:21.62 there's no split second, "Oh by the way, Lord, 00:19:21.66\00:19:23.43 I just killed fifty-four people. 00:19:23.46\00:19:24.79 Will You save me? Thank You." 00:19:24.83\00:19:26.16 No. Come on, now. 00:19:27.30\00:19:28.73 You don't get there in a split second. 00:19:28.96\00:19:31.90 And the trend of your life tells a whole lot 00:19:32.10\00:19:35.40 about where you're headed. 00:19:35.44\00:19:36.77 And what we need to know, if a person doesn't have 00:19:36.81\00:19:39.24 an opportunity, that's one thing, but the trek of your life 00:19:39.27\00:19:43.95 is a determining factor in your saving or being lost. 00:19:44.05\00:19:47.98 It's the trend of your life. 00:19:48.12\00:19:49.88 Not a momentary deed or a momentary misdeed. 00:19:50.05\00:19:54.66 So some people might say, "Well hey, that person needs 00:19:54.69\00:19:57.83 to be saved because they gave two million dollars 00:19:57.86\00:20:00.00 to the local gymnasium." 00:20:00.03\00:20:03.10 Or they donated money to build a building. 00:20:03.13\00:20:05.57 You can't build enough buildings to be saved. 00:20:05.93\00:20:08.67 There is no salvation in any other name 00:20:09.90\00:20:12.64 other than the name of Jesus. 00:20:13.11\00:20:15.91 So write that down. What are the options? 00:20:16.24\00:20:17.65 The only option is who? 00:20:17.68\00:20:19.45 The only option is Jesus. 00:20:19.68\00:20:22.48 Now here is the reason why. 00:20:22.52\00:20:24.82 So write that down for number six. 00:20:24.85\00:20:26.19 Here is the reason why the only option is Jesus. 00:20:26.22\00:20:29.46 Question number seven. 00:20:29.82\00:20:31.79 Let's look at that together. 00:20:31.83\00:20:33.16 Question number seven. 00:20:33.19\00:20:35.03 Or I should have said, what glorious benefit 00:20:43.74\00:20:45.24 do we also receive? 00:20:45.27\00:20:47.84 Acts 10:34 00:20:48.31\00:20:51.28 Acts 10:34 00:20:52.08\00:20:54.45 Sorry, forty-three. I'm looking right at it. 00:20:56.42\00:20:58.82 And I just had a, what do they call that moment? 00:20:59.29\00:21:01.76 What do they call those? Dyslexia moments. 00:21:01.79\00:21:04.39 It just, everything flipped on me. 00:21:04.86\00:21:06.49 Acts 10:43 00:21:06.53\00:21:08.43 So you're looking at it correctly. 00:21:08.46\00:21:10.03 Acts 10:43 00:21:10.07\00:21:12.60 Let's look at that together. 00:21:13.03\00:21:14.37 And the Bible says, here it is... 00:21:14.57\00:21:16.94 You know what remission is. 00:21:31.82\00:21:33.15 Remission is a medical word. 00:21:33.19\00:21:34.92 You know, it's often referred to with what disease? 00:21:35.72\00:21:38.13 Cancer. 00:21:38.33\00:21:39.66 His cancer is in remission. 00:21:39.69\00:21:41.23 Or somebody might use it for other terms. 00:21:41.26\00:21:43.70 But in the most part, the word, "remission," is used for cancer. 00:21:43.73\00:21:47.44 Or you don't often say, "His cold is in remission." 00:21:47.54\00:21:51.11 You say his cold has gone away. 00:21:52.14\00:21:53.74 Or he's almost over his cold or her cold. 00:21:54.18\00:21:56.68 But when the Bible talks about remission, 00:21:56.78\00:21:59.18 if you think of the only thing that can destroy us, 00:21:59.71\00:22:02.28 the only thing that can guarantee us being lost 00:22:02.32\00:22:04.89 is what? 00:22:04.92\00:22:06.25 Sin. It's right there at the end. 00:22:06.35\00:22:08.09 Is what? Sin. 00:22:08.12\00:22:09.72 So if Jesus now, and it talks about here, 00:22:09.76\00:22:13.06 the remission of sin comes not to those who just know His name, 00:22:13.33\00:22:17.37 but to those who do what? 00:22:17.40\00:22:19.00 Believe in Him. 00:22:19.63\00:22:21.44 And belief, let me make this very clear, belief is not just, 00:22:21.67\00:22:24.77 "Oh, I believe in Jesus." 00:22:24.81\00:22:26.17 Because the devils believe. 00:22:26.91\00:22:28.28 James said the devil believes, and the belief that he has... 00:22:28.31\00:22:31.18 As I said to somebody, there are no atheists among the demons. 00:22:31.21\00:22:34.65 Right? 00:22:35.68\00:22:37.02 They are so convinced that there is a Jesus 00:22:37.05\00:22:39.52 that the Bible says it makes them tremble. 00:22:39.75\00:22:42.02 You read some stories in the Bible when Jesus cast the 00:22:42.79\00:22:45.56 demons out of the demoniac and He cast them into a pig. 00:22:45.59\00:22:48.86 The demon said, "Have you come to torment us before our time?" 00:22:50.30\00:22:53.44 They knew it. And the devil knows. 00:22:53.47\00:22:54.84 The Bible says he knows he has a short time. 00:22:54.87\00:22:56.71 So there are no atheists among demons. 00:22:56.74\00:22:59.07 But for some reason people say, "Well, I believe in Jesus." 00:22:59.84\00:23:03.01 "Well, I believe there's a God." 00:23:03.04\00:23:04.38 "Well, I believe..." 00:23:04.41\00:23:05.75 Well no, you have to not only believe in Him. 00:23:05.78\00:23:07.12 But the word there, "believe," means, lean upon, rely upon, 00:23:07.15\00:23:10.29 commit yourself to. 00:23:10.32\00:23:11.65 When you really believe something, 00:23:12.05\00:23:13.66 you commit yourself to it. 00:23:13.69\00:23:15.22 You don't just intellectually accept it, 00:23:15.26\00:23:16.76 or give this intellectual assent. 00:23:16.96\00:23:18.43 When you believe in something, you commit. 00:23:18.63\00:23:21.33 You wholeheartedly, you lean, you summit. 00:23:21.36\00:23:24.67 And then when you do that, 00:23:25.17\00:23:26.63 all of a sudden He begins to reverse. 00:23:27.04\00:23:29.64 Now when it says, "remission of sin," 00:23:29.67\00:23:31.77 it doesn't mean just take away your sin. 00:23:31.81\00:23:33.78 Because if that's the case, He can easily do that. 00:23:34.44\00:23:37.05 That's what 1 John 1:9, says, "If you confess, 00:23:37.08\00:23:40.62 He's faithful and just to forgive you." 00:23:40.65\00:23:42.98 But this says, "remission." 00:23:43.02\00:23:44.35 Now there's a difference between forgive and remission. 00:23:44.59\00:23:46.82 If somebody could... 00:23:47.69\00:23:49.02 And I think I like the way that they use this 00:23:49.46\00:23:51.19 in the context of cancer. 00:23:51.23\00:23:52.79 Remission meaning, it's reversing. 00:23:53.13\00:23:55.26 What is reversing? 00:23:55.56\00:23:56.90 The effect. 00:23:58.30\00:23:59.63 The cancer itself, it's going away. 00:23:59.67\00:24:02.77 The cancer's impact on you is reversing. 00:24:03.37\00:24:06.57 What remission means is, the impact of sin on you is 00:24:07.08\00:24:11.38 being reversed. 00:24:11.41\00:24:12.78 So building on that for a brief moment, 00:24:14.62\00:24:17.75 when it says the impact of sin on you is being reversed, 00:24:17.79\00:24:20.52 it means what you use to be you are no longer that. 00:24:20.72\00:24:24.79 You are becoming what you... 00:24:24.83\00:24:26.43 You are becoming less of who you were 00:24:26.53\00:24:28.83 and more of who Jesus is. 00:24:28.86\00:24:30.97 That should have been an "amen" right there. 00:24:32.13\00:24:33.74 You're becoming less of who you were 00:24:34.50\00:24:36.34 and more of who Jesus is. 00:24:36.37\00:24:38.04 So that remission point, 00:24:38.51\00:24:39.87 so what is the point of remission? 00:24:39.91\00:24:42.34 Another word for, "remission," here is, 00:24:42.38\00:24:44.95 whatever has impacted you is being reversed. 00:24:44.98\00:24:47.12 It's being turned around. 00:24:47.15\00:24:48.48 You could use the word loosely, "repent," 00:24:48.52\00:24:50.32 but repentance and remission is not the same thing. 00:24:50.35\00:24:52.65 Repentance comes before remission. 00:24:52.69\00:24:55.46 The remission, the impact of sin on your life is being reversed. 00:24:55.69\00:24:58.59 So let's write that down. 00:24:59.03\00:25:00.63 Acts 10:43 00:25:01.80\00:25:03.90 When we receive Jesus, what glorious benefit do we receive? 00:25:03.93\00:25:08.67 Write that down. 00:25:08.70\00:25:10.04 Remission of sins. 00:25:10.44\00:25:11.91 Remission of sins. 00:25:13.11\00:25:14.44 The reversal of the impact on our lives. 00:25:14.48\00:25:17.51 The reversal of the impact. 00:25:17.61\00:25:19.35 That's why when you look at the man who received his sight, 00:25:19.38\00:25:22.62 you saw a man who was made to see. 00:25:22.92\00:25:25.69 The impact of his sin was reversed. 00:25:25.99\00:25:28.92 When the paralytic who was let down through the roof, 00:25:29.52\00:25:32.49 the Lord said, "Your sin be forgiven you." 00:25:32.53\00:25:35.10 And then He said, "To show you that I am the Lord..." 00:25:36.16\00:25:38.17 What? 00:25:39.07\00:25:40.40 "Get up." 00:25:41.07\00:25:42.40 He first forgave him before He healed him. 00:25:43.10\00:25:46.47 And some of us need to be forgiven, 00:25:46.51\00:25:48.94 and when we accept the forgiveness of God... 00:25:49.21\00:25:51.88 I want you to follow me carefully. 00:25:51.91\00:25:53.25 Some of us, when you don't accept the forgiveness of God, 00:25:53.48\00:25:56.25 the impact of the sin is not going to be reversed. 00:25:56.28\00:25:59.95 Follow that. 00:26:02.52\00:26:03.86 When you don't accept the forgiveness... 00:26:05.09\00:26:07.40 If the Lord just said to that man, 00:26:07.43\00:26:08.76 and He knew his condition... 00:26:08.80\00:26:10.13 We don't really have any insight as to what the Lord meant about, 00:26:10.17\00:26:12.23 "Your sins be forgiven you." 00:26:12.27\00:26:13.70 We just know He said, "Your sins are forgiven. 00:26:13.74\00:26:15.87 But to show you that I am the Son of God, 00:26:15.90\00:26:17.91 get up." 00:26:18.61\00:26:19.94 The healing came after the forgiveness. 00:26:23.14\00:26:25.91 Look at a couple of examples in the Bible. 00:26:26.28\00:26:28.05 When the Lord spit in the man's eye, He said, "Go wash." 00:26:28.62\00:26:33.25 The Bible says, and when he went, as he went, what happened? 00:26:33.79\00:26:39.03 His sight returned. 00:26:39.06\00:26:40.40 The Lord sends him on a process. 00:26:41.03\00:26:43.10 See, when we receive forgiveness from God, 00:26:43.40\00:26:46.43 the impact of the sin begins to be reversed. 00:26:46.47\00:26:49.40 And then the Lord says, now He gave him the capacity 00:26:50.27\00:26:53.11 to stand up. 00:26:53.14\00:26:54.48 Whatever was happening in that man's life, I think Ellen White 00:26:54.74\00:26:56.78 talks about the way he lived caused him to be 00:26:56.81\00:26:59.68 in the condition he was in. 00:26:59.71\00:27:01.18 But the remission of the sin took him out of the condition 00:27:01.45\00:27:05.69 after he accepted the forgiveness of the Lord. 00:27:05.99\00:27:10.73 Remission of sin. 00:27:12.06\00:27:13.40 Go back to that. 00:27:13.43\00:27:14.76 The impact on your life will not continue. 00:27:14.80\00:27:17.40 Now let me ask you the question, how many of you 00:27:17.63\00:27:21.27 would like to be forgiven of anything? 00:27:23.71\00:27:27.64 How many of you would like the impact of your sin to remain? 00:27:28.68\00:27:33.62 Now in some cases it does. 00:27:35.62\00:27:38.05 And the Lord decides. 00:27:40.56\00:27:41.99 But when it comes to healing, when it comes to restoration, 00:27:42.92\00:27:46.09 when it comes to forgiveness, 00:27:46.96\00:27:48.56 when it comes to making a person whole... 00:27:48.60\00:27:50.43 Now if you lost your foot because of something 00:27:50.47\00:27:54.07 you did foolishly, the Lord is not going to give you back 00:27:54.10\00:27:57.71 the foot and say, "Now go ahead and run a race again." 00:27:57.74\00:28:00.08 Sometimes the impact is there to remind you 00:28:00.11\00:28:02.54 of the decision you made. 00:28:02.58\00:28:03.98 But when it comes to... 00:28:05.28\00:28:06.61 If you look at Isaiah... 00:28:06.65\00:28:07.98 Okay, go with me to Isaiah. 00:28:08.02\00:28:09.58 Let me give you an example of remission. 00:28:09.62\00:28:12.29 Where are we going? Isaiah. 00:28:13.39\00:28:15.92 And when I get there I'll tell you exactly... 00:28:17.43\00:28:19.59 I believe it's Isaiah chapter 61. 00:28:19.63\00:28:21.90 Okay. 00:28:23.47\00:28:24.80 Yes, okay. 00:28:27.80\00:28:29.14 This is a beautiful example of remission. 00:28:29.54\00:28:32.84 Isaiah chapter 61. 00:28:33.14\00:28:35.58 Now you're going to notice a lot of conditions here. 00:28:36.11\00:28:38.51 And each of these conditions is the result of sin. 00:28:40.22\00:28:43.59 Now watch this. 00:28:43.62\00:28:44.95 Isaiah 61:1 00:28:44.99\00:28:47.06 "The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, 00:28:47.72\00:28:51.43 because He has anointed Me to preach..." What? 00:28:51.53\00:28:55.03 "...good tidings to the poor..." 00:28:55.73\00:28:57.63 That's not talking about people that are financially poor, 00:28:57.67\00:28:59.83 but the poor in spirit, as He talks about in the beatitudes. 00:28:59.87\00:29:02.30 Those whose spirits are broken. 00:29:02.34\00:29:04.11 "He sent Me to..." What? 00:29:05.34\00:29:07.01 "...heal the brokenhearted..." 00:29:07.48\00:29:10.08 Notice, a person who is broken is now being healed. 00:29:10.11\00:29:13.38 Look at the remission. 00:29:13.82\00:29:15.15 "...to proclaim liberty to the..." What? 00:29:15.18\00:29:16.79 "...captives..." 00:29:16.85\00:29:18.19 A person that was captive by sin, vice, whatever it was, 00:29:18.22\00:29:22.06 He can proclaim liberty; the reversal. 00:29:22.09\00:29:24.59 "...and the opening of the prison to those who are..." 00:29:24.69\00:29:26.83 What? "...bound..." 00:29:26.86\00:29:28.40 Those who are bound in the prison house 00:29:28.60\00:29:30.27 of sin, He does what? 00:29:30.30\00:29:31.63 Opens the doors. He's reversing. 00:29:31.67\00:29:34.24 He's not saying, "I forgive you, but stay in prison. 00:29:34.27\00:29:37.01 I heal you, but stay brokenhearted. 00:29:38.31\00:29:40.48 I come to proclaim liberty, but stay in the jail." 00:29:40.68\00:29:44.45 No, He proclaims liberty and He sets the captives free. 00:29:44.48\00:29:48.15 Let's keep going. 00:29:48.28\00:29:49.62 Verse 2, "...to proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, 00:29:49.65\00:29:53.29 and the day of vengeance of our God..." 00:29:54.26\00:29:56.39 But look what He continues; the remission. 00:29:56.42\00:29:58.19 "...to comfort all who..." Do what? 00:29:58.23\00:30:00.36 "...mourn, to console those who mourn in Zion..." 00:30:00.40\00:30:04.23 Look at the reversal. 00:30:04.77\00:30:06.10 "...to give them beauty for..." What? 00:30:06.13\00:30:07.47 "...ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, 00:30:07.50\00:30:11.57 the garment of praise for the spirit of..." What? 00:30:11.61\00:30:13.98 "...heaviness..." 00:30:14.01\00:30:15.68 And look at all the results. 00:30:15.84\00:30:17.48 "...that they may be called trees of righteousness, 00:30:17.51\00:30:21.28 the planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified." 00:30:21.32\00:30:24.49 Now here's the point. 00:30:24.52\00:30:25.85 Are you ready for it? 00:30:26.29\00:30:27.62 Unless a person sees what God's remission of sin has done 00:30:28.42\00:30:33.23 in your life, they don't really want, 00:30:33.26\00:30:35.46 they don't want what you don't have. 00:30:35.66\00:30:37.23 If they said, "Well Dan, weren't you that guy who use to 00:30:37.97\00:30:40.37 smoke and drink? 00:30:40.40\00:30:41.74 Is that the same Dan Giguere?" 00:30:42.00\00:30:44.14 And you say, "Sure is. But I'm not the same guy. 00:30:44.77\00:30:47.14 I'm not who I use to be." 00:30:47.18\00:30:48.64 And they say, "Well, how is that?" 00:30:50.08\00:30:51.41 "I accepted Christ into my life." 00:30:51.58\00:30:53.31 Then they see the change, the remission in your life, 00:30:53.35\00:30:56.32 then that's what they want. 00:30:56.35\00:30:57.69 But if somebody says, and I think somebody mentioned once, 00:30:58.02\00:31:00.66 I forgot what church they were going to, but they said, 00:31:01.09\00:31:02.82 "You know, I went to a particular house of worship, 00:31:03.02\00:31:05.49 and I saw that while people were rejoicing and praising God 00:31:05.53\00:31:09.46 on the inside, when they came outside they were 00:31:09.50\00:31:11.07 cussing and smoking and drinking. 00:31:11.17\00:31:13.23 And I thought, 'Man, they were just in there praising God, 00:31:13.27\00:31:16.34 but I don't see any difference in their lives.'" 00:31:16.37\00:31:18.34 And that's why the Lord is saying, "I want to not just 00:31:18.54\00:31:21.34 forgive you, but I want to reverse the impact 00:31:21.38\00:31:25.01 of that sin on your life." 00:31:25.05\00:31:26.61 So when you think about remission, don't think of it 00:31:26.65\00:31:28.32 as just, "Well, the sin is being wiped away." 00:31:28.35\00:31:30.69 No, the impact of the sin is being reversed. 00:31:30.72\00:31:34.16 Amen? 00:31:34.26\00:31:35.59 And that's why it says in verse 4, 00:31:36.16\00:31:38.19 "And they shall rebuild the old ruins, 00:31:38.69\00:31:41.30 they shall raise up the former desolations, 00:31:41.33\00:31:44.37 and they shall repair the ruined cities, 00:31:44.40\00:31:46.77 the desolations of many generations." 00:31:46.80\00:31:49.00 He's talking about, "How long has this condition existed? 00:31:49.04\00:31:53.48 I could restore it, I could bring it back." 00:31:53.51\00:31:55.84 And you know, when you talk about that, 00:31:56.28\00:31:57.61 sometimes you talk about generational sin. 00:31:57.65\00:31:59.81 Generations, generations, generations. 00:32:00.08\00:32:02.18 Somewhere along the way could be broken. 00:32:02.22\00:32:03.79 "I could raise it up, I could reverse it. 00:32:03.82\00:32:05.79 Things that were desolate, I could rebuild them. 00:32:06.45\00:32:08.56 The things that need to be repaired, I could restore them." 00:32:08.59\00:32:11.49 He's talking about remission of sin. 00:32:12.79\00:32:14.56 I wanted to spend a little time on that, because 00:32:14.60\00:32:16.80 remission of sins is what every one of us is in need of. 00:32:16.83\00:32:19.43 Amen? 00:32:19.47\00:32:20.80 Not just the forgiveness, but the reversal of it, 00:32:20.84\00:32:23.67 and not allowing the impact on us to continue. 00:32:23.71\00:32:27.21 Wow! 00:32:27.24\00:32:28.58 Question number seven. 00:32:28.61\00:32:29.94 Sorry, question number eight. 00:32:30.18\00:32:31.85 Question number eight. 00:32:32.18\00:32:33.52 So if you want to put a further note on number seven, 00:32:33.55\00:32:36.18 don't just put, "remission of sin," 00:32:36.48\00:32:38.72 put, "reversal of its impact." 00:32:38.92\00:32:42.06 Reversal of its impact. 00:32:42.09\00:32:44.73 Reversal of its impact. 00:32:47.06\00:32:48.40 The Lord didn't say to the blind man, "I forgive you," 00:32:48.43\00:32:51.37 and he's still bumping into trees. 00:32:51.47\00:32:53.54 No, really. I don't want to be cynical. 00:32:54.40\00:32:55.77 But the Lord changed the condition of that person's life. 00:32:55.80\00:32:58.51 That's why the blind man, they had a hard time convincing 00:32:59.04\00:33:02.58 the religious leaders, "Is he the one that was born blind?" 00:33:02.61\00:33:07.35 "Well then, which one sinned, his mother or him?" 00:33:08.08\00:33:10.79 "Neither." 00:33:10.82\00:33:12.15 "Well, how were you made to see?" 00:33:12.95\00:33:14.89 He told them the process. 00:33:20.76\00:33:22.30 And they said, "But how?" 00:33:22.83\00:33:24.47 "So since we don't want to accept your explanation, 00:33:26.53\00:33:28.54 would you tell us how your son was healed?" 00:33:28.64\00:33:30.14 "He's old enough. You ask him." 00:33:30.17\00:33:31.84 And then he said, "Do you also want to become His disciples?" 00:33:34.68\00:33:37.85 Then he narrowed it down, and I like this. 00:33:38.71\00:33:40.52 He was so completely remiss, the remission was so clear, 00:33:40.92\00:33:45.89 he said, "All I know is, I once was blind, but..." What? 00:33:46.19\00:33:50.93 "...now I see. 00:33:50.96\00:33:52.89 So I'm out of here." 00:33:53.96\00:33:55.60 And he went on rejoicing and praising God. 00:33:56.30\00:33:58.50 And there were sometimes that Jesus healed people, He said, 00:33:59.23\00:34:01.10 "Don't tell anybody." 00:34:01.14\00:34:02.47 What happened? Everybody found out. 00:34:03.37\00:34:05.21 The woman at the well. 00:34:05.87\00:34:07.61 She was so excited that she met Jesus. 00:34:08.18\00:34:10.81 And she went to the town and told people, 00:34:11.41\00:34:13.05 and they came back and they all believed on Him 00:34:13.08\00:34:14.58 because of her testimony. 00:34:14.62\00:34:16.12 The remission of sin. 00:34:16.22\00:34:17.55 They saw a changed person. 00:34:17.59\00:34:19.29 They didn't just see a person that met another man, 00:34:19.62\00:34:22.12 they saw a changed person. 00:34:22.16\00:34:23.69 The remission of sin. 00:34:23.73\00:34:25.06 Here's the point of the story. 00:34:25.09\00:34:26.43 What is our greatest need? 00:34:26.46\00:34:27.80 Our greatest need is not just the forgiveness of sin, 00:34:27.83\00:34:29.73 but our greatest need is the reversal of the impact 00:34:29.76\00:34:32.63 of sin on our lives. 00:34:32.67\00:34:34.30 And I heard all these people say "amen" through the camera. 00:34:36.00\00:34:38.67 We all need the reversal of the impact of sin on our lives. 00:34:40.98\00:34:44.68 Yes. Not just forgiveness. 00:34:45.55\00:34:47.55 Forgiveness is like, okay, it's almost like to some people, 00:34:47.58\00:34:50.99 "You're forgiven." 00:34:51.02\00:34:52.35 But the Lord said, what did He say to the woman? 00:34:52.55\00:34:54.12 "You're forgiven, but go and sin no more." 00:34:54.16\00:34:56.96 The reversal of the impact on your life. 00:34:56.99\00:34:59.09 Okay, now let's go to number eight. 00:35:00.73\00:35:03.26 Number eight, here it is. 00:35:03.87\00:35:05.30 Okay. 00:35:05.97\00:35:07.30 Hebrews 7:25 00:35:13.88\00:35:15.31 When we receive Jesus, to what degree are we saved? 00:35:15.34\00:35:17.98 I'm going to go right to that very quickly, because 00:35:18.01\00:35:19.71 I want to jump into some other ones. 00:35:19.91\00:35:21.35 And I think we covered this before, but this is amazing. 00:35:21.38\00:35:23.85 Alright, Hebrews 7:25. 00:35:23.89\00:35:25.92 There are a lot of good 7:25's in the Bible. 00:35:25.95\00:35:28.39 Like Daniel 7:25. 00:35:28.42\00:35:30.49 Here it is. And I said, "But..." 00:37:41.26\00:37:44.09 "Somebody already paid. Just go right straight through." 00:37:45.26\00:37:47.60 You know, one day we're going to be able to walk through the 00:37:47.70\00:37:49.66 gates into the New Jerusalem because somebody paid ahead. 00:37:49.76\00:37:52.63 Somebody paid ahead. 00:37:55.54\00:37:56.87 And it's important for those of us who have heard this story 00:37:58.04\00:38:01.04 so many times to pause and remember the beauty of it. 00:38:01.08\00:38:05.65 Because one of the dangers of being a Christian 00:38:06.25\00:38:08.45 for a long time is, you've heard the story. 00:38:08.48\00:38:11.45 It's like watching the same movie. 00:38:11.92\00:38:13.66 You walk away when somebody else is watching it. 00:38:14.19\00:38:16.49 Have you ever done that? 00:38:17.69\00:38:19.03 Have you ever done that? 00:38:19.06\00:38:20.40 "Ah, I know what's going to happen. 00:38:20.43\00:38:21.83 I've already seen it." 00:38:22.56\00:38:23.90 That's the complacency. 00:38:24.17\00:38:25.57 We should never allow ourselves to hear the gospel, 00:38:25.60\00:38:28.27 which is the good news, and say, "I've heard this story before. 00:38:28.67\00:38:32.67 You can... I've heard it. 00:38:32.97\00:38:34.34 I know what... 'For God so loved the world...' 00:38:34.38\00:38:36.04 Yeah, I've heard it before." 00:38:36.08\00:38:37.78 Don't ever lose, don't ever lose appreciation 00:38:38.08\00:38:43.05 for the good news of salvation. 00:38:43.08\00:38:45.15 Wow! 00:38:46.79\00:38:48.12 Ever lives. 00:38:53.96\00:38:55.30 Number nine, number nine. 00:38:56.16\00:38:57.80 Write that down. He ever lives. 00:38:57.83\00:38:59.30 When we receive Jesus, to what degree are we saved? 00:38:59.90\00:39:02.74 To the uttermost. 00:39:02.77\00:39:04.11 He ever lives. 00:39:04.14\00:39:05.57 Wow! 00:39:05.81\00:39:07.14 What other religious leader can say that? 00:39:07.18\00:39:09.88 Not even the pope. 00:39:10.45\00:39:11.91 And unfortunately, not even Mary. 00:39:14.18\00:39:16.58 Amen. 00:39:18.12\00:39:19.45 Because Mary is not alive. 00:39:19.49\00:39:21.19 You can pray to a wooden statue, a golden statue, 00:39:21.39\00:39:23.93 a plaster statue, a painted statue, a manufactured statue, 00:39:23.96\00:39:28.20 you're praying to plaster of Paris. 00:39:28.40\00:39:31.60 As my dad use to say. 00:39:31.83\00:39:33.34 Right now there's a factory just mass producing 00:39:35.37\00:39:38.44 images of Mary. 00:39:38.47\00:39:39.81 Don't forget to paint the eyes blue and hair brown and 00:39:40.94\00:39:43.75 the skin, you know, whatever color. 00:39:43.78\00:39:45.98 They just mass produce. 00:39:46.01\00:39:47.35 They put them in a mold. 00:39:47.38\00:39:48.72 Let me walk you through the fakeness of this. 00:39:48.75\00:39:50.45 They put all the plaster in a mold, shapes it, 00:39:50.55\00:39:52.99 it comes out just a big ole white statue. 00:39:53.02\00:39:55.22 Then they paint it and polish it up, and 00:39:55.72\00:39:57.49 make it look all colorful, and they sell it, 00:39:57.69\00:39:59.79 and somebody bows down before it. 00:39:59.83\00:40:01.50 That's not what you need to do. 00:40:02.73\00:40:04.17 You need to bow down before the one who ever lives. 00:40:04.20\00:40:06.37 Can we get an amen? 00:40:06.40\00:40:07.74 Ever lives. 00:40:07.77\00:40:09.10 Not an idol on your dashboard, not a crucifix around your neck, 00:40:09.14\00:40:13.04 not a, and for the new-agers, not a gem 00:40:13.61\00:40:17.41 that's glittering in the sun. 00:40:17.45\00:40:19.11 Not even an heirloom that your grandma passed down. 00:40:20.85\00:40:25.75 But you've got to bow before Jesus. 00:40:26.86\00:40:28.69 Because so many people have substitute gods 00:40:29.59\00:40:32.73 that can't do a thing for them. 00:40:32.76\00:40:34.36 I've seen people... 00:40:34.63\00:40:35.96 I was just looking at a video recently, 00:40:36.10\00:40:37.90 actually a documentary, when Pope John Paul II 00:40:37.93\00:40:41.04 visited South America and they were at the temple of 00:40:41.07\00:40:46.01 Our Lady of Guadeloupe. 00:40:47.38\00:40:48.98 This was an experience years ago. 00:40:49.18\00:40:50.71 Our Lady of Guadeloupe. 00:40:50.75\00:40:52.11 That's the apparition that appeared. 00:40:52.15\00:40:54.38 An apparition. 00:40:54.42\00:40:55.75 Meaning, a demon appeared in the form of a lady 00:40:56.52\00:41:00.16 who had already died. 00:41:00.19\00:41:01.52 And everybody, those who saw it, said that God sent a sign. 00:41:01.56\00:41:04.86 An apparition of a dead person. 00:41:04.89\00:41:07.36 Which is what a demon does. 00:41:07.40\00:41:08.83 And so this temple where Pope John Paul II went in 00:41:09.23\00:41:12.97 and bowed before this statue and kissed its feet, 00:41:13.00\00:41:18.17 and vowed his allegiance to Our Lady of Guadeloupe. 00:41:18.57\00:41:21.71 And people were walking... 00:41:24.08\00:41:25.41 I don't want to do it now because the 00:41:25.45\00:41:26.78 cameras can't catch it. 00:41:26.82\00:41:28.15 But they were kneeling and they were crawling their way 00:41:28.18\00:41:29.82 to the temple on their knees to please Our Lady of Guadeloupe, 00:41:29.85\00:41:33.76 when all they had to do was call on Jesus. 00:41:34.36\00:41:36.62 And there's so many people today that are bound 00:41:38.69\00:41:40.60 in form and ceremonies when all they really have to do 00:41:40.63\00:41:45.33 is call on Jesus. 00:41:46.43\00:41:47.80 Number nine, number nine. 00:41:48.57\00:41:50.47 Let's move a little quicker. 00:41:50.51\00:41:51.84 To those who receive Jesus, what promise has He made? 00:41:52.07\00:41:55.24 Let's go to 2 Timothy 4:18. 00:41:55.61\00:41:59.18 To those who receive Jesus, what promise has He made? 00:41:59.81\00:42:05.59 Let's look at that. 00:42:06.35\00:42:07.69 Here it is. 00:42:08.39\00:42:09.72 The Bible says... 00:42:11.43\00:42:12.96 Have you notice, not only does the Bible say, 00:42:30.01\00:42:32.18 "The Lord will deliver me," but the Bible says, 00:42:32.21\00:42:34.25 "He will deliver me from every evil work, 00:42:34.28\00:42:36.62 and then He will preserve." 00:42:36.65\00:42:38.25 He will preserve. 00:42:38.62\00:42:39.95 But have you noticed, in many of the Bible verses 00:42:39.99\00:42:42.26 the word, "glory," keeps appearing. 00:42:42.29\00:42:44.43 The word, "glory," keeps appearing. 00:42:44.86\00:42:46.59 Because you know what? 00:42:46.70\00:42:48.03 Let's go now to Jude. 00:42:48.06\00:42:50.77 Let's go to the book of Jude. 00:42:51.17\00:42:52.63 Write that down. 00:42:53.10\00:42:54.44 To those who receive Jesus, what promise has He made? 00:42:54.47\00:42:56.87 He will deliver us and preserve us. 00:42:56.91\00:42:59.84 Amen to that? 00:43:00.48\00:43:01.81 He will deliver us and preserve us. 00:43:02.01\00:43:04.11 But you know what? 00:43:04.15\00:43:05.48 You have to want to be delivered. 00:43:05.51\00:43:06.85 You have to want to be preserved. 00:43:07.25\00:43:09.08 He's not going to yank you by your collar and say, 00:43:09.12\00:43:10.85 "What are you doing, Yannick?" 00:43:10.89\00:43:12.22 I pick on Yannick because he's a nice guy. 00:43:12.99\00:43:15.02 He's not going to force you. 00:43:15.59\00:43:17.29 But when you call on Him, He will deliver you. 00:43:17.49\00:43:19.83 "Whosoever calls upon the name of the Lord 00:43:19.96\00:43:22.50 shall be saved." 00:43:22.53\00:43:23.93 Now I talked about the word, "glory." 00:43:23.97\00:43:25.50 Let's look at Jude. 00:43:25.53\00:43:26.87 There's only one chapter in Jude. 00:43:27.54\00:43:29.07 I keep seeing the word, "glory," keeps showing up. 00:43:29.97\00:43:32.17 Wow! 00:43:33.31\00:43:34.64 Okay, look at this. 00:43:35.64\00:43:36.98 Verses 24 and 25. 00:43:37.21\00:43:38.91 This is the passage here. 00:43:41.92\00:43:43.55 This goes along with 2 Timothy 4:18; 00:43:43.59\00:43:46.39 He will deliver us. 00:43:46.42\00:43:47.76 "Now to Him who is able to keep you from 00:43:48.22\00:43:50.99 falling," or stumbling, "and to present you..." How? 00:43:51.29\00:43:56.67 Come on, say it. 00:43:56.70\00:43:58.03 "...faultless before the presence of His 00:43:58.07\00:44:03.71 glory with exceeding joy." 00:44:04.11\00:44:06.54 I don't want to run past that verse. 00:44:07.01\00:44:08.34 That means, one day Jesus is going to say to the 00:44:08.38\00:44:10.71 heavenly angels... 00:44:10.75\00:44:12.08 And right now one of the reasons why this is so 00:44:12.11\00:44:14.72 significant is because the great controversy has 00:44:14.75\00:44:17.19 disabled humanity from entering into heaven 00:44:17.22\00:44:20.52 in their present condition. 00:44:20.56\00:44:21.89 So I could imagine angels sometimes saying, 00:44:22.09\00:44:24.26 "Lord, I mean, we just got back from earth 00:44:24.46\00:44:27.20 and I've got any list of sins that I've recorded today 00:44:27.43\00:44:30.27 in the lives of Your children. 00:44:30.37\00:44:32.17 Are You sure You want them up here?" 00:44:32.20\00:44:34.34 I mean, you think about it for a moment. 00:44:35.60\00:44:37.07 Because Satan got expelled and his angels got expelled 00:44:37.11\00:44:39.51 for rebellion. 00:44:39.54\00:44:40.88 And then you look at the world and the condition that it's in. 00:44:40.91\00:44:43.04 I know the angels understand, but the plan of salvation 00:44:43.08\00:44:47.28 is far greater than even angels can comprehend 00:44:47.38\00:44:50.25 because they haven't experienced the saving grace of Christ. 00:44:50.29\00:44:53.25 But just imagine for a moment, they're saying, 00:44:53.36\00:44:54.99 "Are You sure You want them up here?" 00:44:55.02\00:44:56.83 And then it comes to the point where we are saved and sealed, 00:44:56.86\00:45:00.00 and then Jesus presents us before the presence 00:45:00.36\00:45:04.00 of His glory with what? 00:45:04.03\00:45:05.47 What kind of joy? 00:45:05.50\00:45:06.84 Can I get an expression of exceeding? 00:45:08.27\00:45:09.74 What kind of joy? 00:45:09.77\00:45:11.11 Exceeding joy. 00:45:11.27\00:45:12.77 He's happy that... 00:45:12.81\00:45:14.28 He says, "Father, look. 00:45:14.31\00:45:15.84 The work I began, did I finish it?" 00:45:16.18\00:45:18.41 "Yes." 00:45:18.45\00:45:19.78 "The work I began, I finished it. 00:45:19.81\00:45:21.15 And now I can present them before You with exceeding joy." 00:45:21.18\00:45:24.65 The word, "exceeding joy," means, a joy that continues 00:45:24.69\00:45:27.96 to be joyful. 00:45:27.99\00:45:29.32 A joy that continues to be joyful. 00:45:29.52\00:45:31.59 We don't have exceeding joy. 00:45:31.63\00:45:33.13 We have joy. 00:45:33.16\00:45:34.50 And then it lasts for how long? 00:45:34.53\00:45:35.93 "I'm so joyful that you came over. 00:45:37.40\00:45:40.24 Even more joyful that you left." 00:45:41.00\00:45:42.77 You know. Our joy. 00:45:44.87\00:45:46.64 Our joy transitions when... You know. 00:45:46.88\00:45:49.64 Anyway, let me leave that alone. 00:45:49.88\00:45:51.58 But, you know. 00:45:52.28\00:45:53.72 But it's true though. 00:45:54.28\00:45:55.62 That's human nature. 00:45:55.65\00:45:56.99 We're joyful that some people come over. 00:45:57.02\00:45:58.35 We're joyful that some people leave. 00:45:58.39\00:46:00.06 It's true. That's human nature. 00:46:00.66\00:46:02.09 But when Jesus presents us before the Father, 00:46:02.12\00:46:04.19 He's going to be joyful that all of His children 00:46:04.39\00:46:07.26 that were bound, that needed deliverance, 00:46:07.30\00:46:09.46 that needed preservation, that needed joy, 00:46:09.50\00:46:12.17 that needed hope, that needed salvation, 00:46:12.20\00:46:14.60 He's going to present them in a retinue of redeemed 00:46:14.64\00:46:17.97 from all the ages and He's going to present them 00:46:18.01\00:46:20.04 before the heavenly angels and before His Father. 00:46:20.08\00:46:22.71 With what kind of joy? Say it together. 00:46:22.74\00:46:24.51 Exceeding joy. 00:46:24.71\00:46:26.68 And I know why. 00:46:28.98\00:46:30.32 Because He's going to be glad that the great controversy 00:46:30.35\00:46:32.65 is finally over. 00:46:32.69\00:46:34.06 And I want to tell you something. 00:46:34.09\00:46:35.42 So will we. 00:46:35.46\00:46:36.79 That's why verse 25 says, "To God our Savior, 00:46:37.96\00:46:41.60 who alone is wise, be glory and majesty, 00:46:41.63\00:46:47.07 dominion and power, both now and..." How long? 00:46:47.10\00:46:50.91 "...forever. Amen." 00:46:50.94\00:46:53.48 Thank You, Lord. 00:46:53.98\00:46:55.31 Glory. Always. 00:46:55.91\00:46:57.35 "Fear God and give glory to Him." 00:46:57.38\00:46:59.08 Because the glory that He has will be revealed through us. 00:46:59.11\00:47:03.62 I want the glory of Christ to be revealed through me. 00:47:03.85\00:47:06.05 But only as we are redeemed and as we are saved 00:47:06.09\00:47:08.76 from sin and the impact that it once had on our lives. 00:47:08.96\00:47:13.03 Question number ten. 00:47:13.06\00:47:14.40 Let's move right along. 00:47:14.43\00:47:15.76 Question number ten. Here it is. 00:47:15.93\00:47:18.00 Hebrews 10:25 Hebrews 10:25 00:47:26.14\00:47:29.08 What did Jesus do to prepare for His mission of salvation? 00:47:29.11\00:47:32.58 Hebrews 10:5 00:47:33.75\00:47:35.18 I said 25? 00:47:35.22\00:47:36.55 I thought I said that. 00:47:36.58\00:47:37.92 I don't know what's happening to me today. 00:47:37.95\00:47:39.29 I'm having all these short circuits. 00:47:39.52\00:47:40.89 I worked so hard today, I'm trying to get my brain together. 00:47:41.09\00:47:43.46 Hebrews 10:5 Yes, here it is. 00:47:43.83\00:47:46.03 Here it is. 00:47:46.56\00:47:47.90 Now this is important. 00:47:47.93\00:47:49.26 Now as I turn there, I want you to pay particular attention. 00:47:49.30\00:47:51.77 Jesus could have easily... 00:47:52.93\00:47:54.97 Well, let me make the point after we read the text. 00:47:58.91\00:48:01.48 Here it is. Here's the text. 00:48:01.51\00:48:04.18 Okay, now watch this. 00:48:16.52\00:48:17.86 Let's go to the next verse. 00:48:17.99\00:48:19.53 Because we want to add John 1:14 there too. 00:48:19.63\00:48:23.43 Go to the next passage. 00:48:23.47\00:48:24.80 Here it is. 00:48:24.83\00:48:26.17 Notice what shows up again. 00:48:41.18\00:48:42.72 Glory. 00:48:42.75\00:48:44.09 I want us to take a moment and fathom what is 00:48:45.49\00:48:47.86 actually happening here. 00:48:47.89\00:48:49.22 "We beheld His glory, 00:48:49.32\00:48:51.86 the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, 00:48:52.49\00:48:54.26 full of grace and truth." 00:48:54.30\00:48:55.63 What would people have done differently 00:48:55.66\00:48:58.70 if they looked at Jesus and they said, 00:48:58.73\00:49:00.64 "He is the Son of God"? 00:49:00.67\00:49:02.70 Did it make an impact on those who believed? 00:49:03.44\00:49:05.17 Yes or no. It did. 00:49:05.21\00:49:06.54 But on those who did not believe, 00:49:06.57\00:49:07.91 it make absolutely no impact. 00:49:07.94\00:49:09.54 But what I want to bring out here is, Jesus risked everything 00:49:10.45\00:49:14.52 to give us everything. 00:49:14.62\00:49:16.58 Because the Bible says, sacrifice and offerings, 00:49:17.25\00:49:19.69 He could have easily done that. 00:49:19.72\00:49:21.09 But if you look at the verse, "Sacrifice and offering 00:49:21.12\00:49:23.49 You did not desire." 00:49:23.53\00:49:24.86 In other words, all those animals that were killed 00:49:24.89\00:49:27.50 through the Old Testament times, He says, "That was not what 00:49:27.53\00:49:32.60 the Father desired." 00:49:32.63\00:49:34.00 That was just a prefiguring of what Jesus would do. 00:49:34.04\00:49:36.87 That's why there's no need today to sacrifice animals. 00:49:36.91\00:49:40.01 Can you imagine what would happen 00:49:40.11\00:49:41.64 if here at Thompsonville church, "Where is Dan going?" 00:49:41.84\00:49:46.51 "Oh, he'll be back in a moment. 00:49:46.55\00:49:47.88 He's going to get two lambs and a dove." 00:49:47.92\00:49:50.79 And then you see him carrying his bucket of blood. 00:49:54.46\00:49:57.13 "Where's he going?" 00:49:57.16\00:49:58.49 "To the temple." 00:49:58.53\00:49:59.86 "For what?" 00:50:00.23\00:50:01.56 "To have the blood sprinkled on the horns of the altar." 00:50:01.60\00:50:03.60 "What is that smell?" 00:50:05.43\00:50:06.77 Now watch this. 00:50:07.37\00:50:08.70 The reason why the temple didn't have a stench 00:50:09.37\00:50:15.71 is because of what? 00:50:17.91\00:50:19.55 Say it again. 00:50:22.82\00:50:24.15 What did the incense represent? 00:50:24.82\00:50:26.79 The incense that continually rose represented what? 00:50:29.36\00:50:33.66 The prayers of the saints. 00:50:34.13\00:50:35.63 Which was right in front of the Most Holy Place, 00:50:35.66\00:50:41.54 which represented the continued ministration of Christ. 00:50:41.57\00:50:44.44 The mercy seat, the Ten Commandments, the law: 00:50:44.64\00:50:46.78 the glory of God represented there. 00:50:47.51\00:50:50.25 In the presence of God, if the people of God 00:50:50.28\00:50:53.15 would remain in prayer, I want you to get this, 00:50:53.18\00:50:56.69 the stench of their sin, 00:50:56.72\00:50:59.05 the stench of their sin would not be sensed 00:51:01.46\00:51:04.56 by others if we remain before God in prayer. 00:51:05.73\00:51:09.53 If they cease to use that incense, what would you smell? 00:51:11.03\00:51:15.34 The coagulation of blood that had been spilled 00:51:17.64\00:51:20.28 day by day, by day, by day. 00:51:20.31\00:51:22.64 But the scent of that incense 00:51:23.35\00:51:25.05 represented the prayers of the saints. 00:51:25.15\00:51:26.88 What the Lord is intending for us to do is that, 00:51:27.18\00:51:29.92 through His veil, that is, His body, that is, His flesh, 00:51:29.95\00:51:33.72 He became flesh and dwelt among us. 00:51:33.76\00:51:36.06 That's why when Jesus died, the veil of the curtain was torn. 00:51:36.59\00:51:40.96 The veil representing His flesh. 00:51:41.86\00:51:44.00 His flesh was torn. 00:51:44.03\00:51:45.50 Communion service. 00:51:45.53\00:51:46.87 The Bible talks about, this is His body that was broken for us. 00:51:46.90\00:51:50.91 The temple curtain was torn. 00:51:51.21\00:51:53.84 His flesh was torn. 00:51:54.28\00:51:55.94 It did not cost Him a little thing. 00:51:56.31\00:51:58.35 To save us, it cost Him everything. 00:51:58.38\00:52:00.88 So when you think about indulging in sin, 00:52:03.25\00:52:07.69 think of the fact that Jesus sacrificed Himself. 00:52:09.59\00:52:13.40 He put everything at risk 00:52:13.43\00:52:15.96 to give us everything that we don't deserve. 00:52:16.36\00:52:18.93 So I'm glad, Bonnie, that when this is all over, 00:52:19.73\00:52:23.14 we'll be able to not only behold His glory, 00:52:23.97\00:52:26.68 but we'll be able to reflect His glory. 00:52:26.88\00:52:28.94 Amen? 00:52:28.98\00:52:30.31 Oh, but I want to add something else. 00:52:30.51\00:52:32.21 He wants us to reflect His glory even now. 00:52:32.41\00:52:36.08 Our lives are called to reflect the glory of God even now, 00:52:39.95\00:52:43.83 "that they may see your good works." 00:52:43.86\00:52:46.73 The glory of the Lord is risen upon you. 00:52:47.16\00:52:49.36 And when God's glory is seen upon us, 00:52:49.40\00:52:52.10 then He receives the glory. 00:52:52.20\00:52:55.04 When they see your works, they glorify your Father 00:52:56.40\00:53:01.84 which is in heaven to give glory. 00:53:01.88\00:53:03.78 So our greatest need is not just the remission of sin, 00:53:03.81\00:53:06.75 not just for forgiveness of sin. 00:53:06.78\00:53:08.32 But one of our greatest needs is to be a continual walking 00:53:08.52\00:53:12.99 reminder to the world of what Jesus can do to a life 00:53:13.02\00:53:16.59 that's submitted to Him. 00:53:16.62\00:53:17.96 Amen? 00:53:18.66\00:53:20.00 What's different in that person's life? 00:53:20.43\00:53:21.80 What's different in her life and his life? 00:53:21.83\00:53:23.20 That's what happens to a person whose life 00:53:23.57\00:53:25.40 is submitted to Christ. 00:53:25.43\00:53:26.94 The glory of God is seen. 00:53:27.04\00:53:28.60 Amen? 00:53:28.64\00:53:29.97 Let's look at question number eleven. 00:53:30.11\00:53:31.44 I think we can do a few more before we get going here. 00:53:31.47\00:53:33.81 Question number eleven. 00:53:34.14\00:53:35.68 Okay, this is powerful. 00:53:36.24\00:53:38.61 Now He became flesh. 00:53:38.71\00:53:40.42 Could Jesus have failed? Yes or no. 00:53:40.45\00:53:43.42 Yes. 00:53:43.95\00:53:45.29 Because He was subject to every temptation just as we are. 00:53:45.49\00:53:48.42 He put Himself on disadvantaged ground. 00:53:48.46\00:53:53.60 He took on flesh. 00:53:54.10\00:53:55.80 The flesh of His mother through whom He was born. 00:53:56.33\00:53:59.00 So He had the flesh. 00:53:59.53\00:54:00.87 He had the nature of Adam after the fall. 00:54:00.90\00:54:04.47 So had He yielded in the slightest, all of us 00:54:04.51\00:54:08.28 would have been forever captive to the power of darkness. 00:54:08.31\00:54:11.71 But why? Question number eleven. 00:54:11.98\00:54:14.08 Wow! 00:54:19.95\00:54:21.29 Powerful question. 00:54:21.32\00:54:22.66 Go to Hebrews 2:14-15. 00:54:22.72\00:54:26.26 Why did He take on the form of human flesh? 00:54:26.29\00:54:28.60 Someone asked me once, "Couldn't He have just 00:54:28.63\00:54:30.50 saved us from heaven?" 00:54:30.53\00:54:31.87 Could He have? 00:54:32.00\00:54:33.34 Yes He could have. 00:54:33.37\00:54:34.70 But then would He have known what we go through? 00:54:35.04\00:54:37.44 Huh? What do we say? 00:54:38.31\00:54:39.97 "You don't know what I'm going through unless you 00:54:40.01\00:54:41.94 walk in my shoes." 00:54:41.98\00:54:44.88 That's right. 00:54:44.91\00:54:46.25 He could have easily said, "You're saved. 00:54:46.28\00:54:48.78 I ain't coming down there." 00:54:49.38\00:54:50.79 But to be our Savior, He had to be tempted just like we are. 00:54:52.32\00:54:58.66 But there's another reason why Jesus took on human flesh. 00:54:59.09\00:55:02.33 Look at Hebrews 2:14. 00:55:02.36\00:55:04.13 This is amazing. 00:55:04.57\00:55:05.90 Here it is. 00:55:05.93\00:55:07.27 The Bible says... 00:55:07.30\00:55:08.64 Meaning, so when you think that you're by yourself, 00:55:19.51\00:55:21.18 no, He shared in the same. 00:55:21.22\00:55:22.85 Not only did He destroy him, but look at the other part. 00:55:35.36\00:55:37.73 The remission here. 00:55:37.77\00:55:39.10 The devil could kill us. 00:55:55.28\00:55:56.85 And the Lord knew we knew that. 00:55:57.39\00:55:59.25 So it kept us in bondage to fear and death. 00:55:59.49\00:56:03.36 So Jesus now takes on our flesh, 00:56:03.96\00:56:06.53 comes and faces the same adversary, 00:56:07.43\00:56:10.17 He defeats that adversary, then He releases those 00:56:10.77\00:56:13.70 who are in bondage of fear and death. 00:56:13.74\00:56:17.34 And how long did He say? 00:56:17.64\00:56:19.24 Some people, all their lifetime. 00:56:19.64\00:56:21.68 And by the way, all their lifetime they were subject 00:56:22.24\00:56:25.08 to bondage until they met who? 00:56:25.11\00:56:27.68 Until they met Jesus. 00:56:28.12\00:56:29.62 Amen? 00:56:30.05\00:56:31.39 But until He took on that form that we have, 00:56:31.82\00:56:35.92 until He faced the temptations as we do, 00:56:35.96\00:56:38.43 until He was victorious as we would have to be, 00:56:38.59\00:56:41.13 He could never offer us what He didn't say... 00:56:41.33\00:56:44.57 Let me rephrase that. 00:56:44.87\00:56:46.20 ...what He did not experience. 00:56:46.23\00:56:48.00 He could never say, "Tracy, I know what you're 00:56:48.17\00:56:51.14 going through, because I faced it and I overcame it 00:56:51.17\00:56:53.98 in your behalf." 00:56:54.01\00:56:55.34 He could never say, "Larry, I know where you are. 00:56:55.38\00:56:58.85 Because that same temptation came to Me, 00:56:59.11\00:57:02.08 and I overcame it." 00:57:02.12\00:57:03.45 Now let me make something very clear before we close tonight. 00:57:03.49\00:57:05.52 Some people say, "Well, this kind of temptation 00:57:06.15\00:57:08.32 did not exist in Jesus' day." 00:57:08.36\00:57:10.23 There are only three types of temptation. 00:57:10.26\00:57:12.23 Lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, 00:57:12.76\00:57:15.60 and the pride of life. 00:57:15.63\00:57:17.00 You look at Genesis; three temptations. 00:57:17.27\00:57:19.97 Pleasant to the eyes, a tree desirable to make one wise, 00:57:21.27\00:57:24.61 looked good for food. 00:57:24.64\00:57:26.01 Three temptations. 00:57:26.04\00:57:27.38 Jesus was tempted in three areas. 00:57:27.51\00:57:29.34 And it says, "All that is in the world; the lust of the flesh, 00:57:29.54\00:57:31.88 the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life." 00:57:32.51\00:57:34.52 All that is in the world is in those three categories. 00:57:34.55\00:57:37.15 He faced them all. 00:57:37.19\00:57:38.59 And He was victorious in every one of them. 00:57:38.62\00:57:40.82 Praise God for that. 00:57:40.86\00:57:42.19 So the next time you face temptation, 00:57:42.36\00:57:44.29 know that Jesus put everything on the line, 00:57:44.49\00:57:47.60 not just to save you, but to experience where you walk, 00:57:47.63\00:57:51.17 to know where you walk, to feel what you feel, 00:57:51.20\00:57:54.30 and to be victorious where you sometimes fail 00:57:54.60\00:57:56.84 to experience victory. 00:57:56.87\00:57:58.21 If it doesn't make sense, friends, keep studying. 00:57:58.34\00:58:00.41 One day it will come into a sharper focus. 00:58:00.44\00:58:03.31 God bless you. 00:58:03.61\00:58:04.95
