00:01:43.33\00:01:44.80 Our Greatest Need. 00:01:46.20\00:01:48.74 And it has fourteen questions so far. 00:01:49.20\00:01:54.08 But as you know, I add more questions as the lesson goes on. 00:01:54.11\00:01:57.88 This is, to me, probably one of the most vital topics 00:01:58.21\00:02:03.02 I'm going to be covering, 00:02:03.05\00:02:04.39 because it talks about our greatest need. 00:02:04.42\00:02:06.82 And I'll preface that with a few more statements 00:02:07.16\00:02:09.39 on the other side of the song. 00:02:09.42\00:02:11.46 But right now we're going to sing our theme song which is, 00:02:11.79\00:02:13.76 Victory in Jesus. 00:02:13.80\00:02:15.13 Let's sing that together. 00:02:15.16\00:02:16.50 I heard an old, old story how the Savior came from glory, 00:02:25.67\00:02:33.15 how He gave His life on Calvary to save a wretch like me. 00:02:33.18\00:02:40.66 I heard about His groaning, of His precious blood's atoning. 00:02:40.69\00:02:48.20 Then I repented of my sins and won the victory. 00:02:48.23\00:02:55.60 O victory in Jesus, my Savior forever. 00:02:55.64\00:03:03.31 He sought me and bought me with His redeeming blood. 00:03:03.35\00:03:10.79 He loved me ere I knew Him, and all my love is due Him. 00:03:10.82\00:03:18.39 He plunged me to victory beneath the cleansing flood. 00:03:18.43\00:03:26.07 I heard about a mansion He has built for me in glory, 00:03:26.10\00:03:33.54 and I heard about the streets of gold beyond the crystal sea, 00:03:33.58\00:03:41.08 about the angels singing and the old redemption story. 00:03:41.12\00:03:48.62 And some sweet day I'll sing up there the song of victory. 00:03:48.66\00:03:56.13 O victory in Jesus, my Savior forever. 00:03:56.16\00:04:03.74 He sought me and bought me with His redeeming blood. 00:04:03.77\00:04:11.35 He loved me ere I knew Him, and all my love is due Him. 00:04:11.38\00:04:18.92 He plunged me to victory beneath the cleansing flood. 00:04:18.95\00:04:26.26 He plunged me to victory beneath the cleansing flood. 00:04:26.66\00:04:36.47 Amen. 00:04:36.67\00:04:38.01 Our Greatest Need. 00:04:38.84\00:04:41.24 The Truth About Our Greatest Need, 00:04:41.28\00:04:45.31 is the study of our topic tonight. 00:04:45.35\00:04:47.62 And I'm sure it's going to be the next broadcast, 00:04:47.82\00:04:49.62 and the next broadcast. 00:04:49.65\00:04:50.99 Because we're covering a large list of very important items. 00:04:51.02\00:04:56.86 Among our greatest needs, we're going to also talk about: 00:04:57.26\00:04:59.69 What is grace? 00:05:00.03\00:05:01.46 What is repentance? 00:05:01.86\00:05:03.33 What is confession? 00:05:03.53\00:05:05.53 How these elements of the Christian walk 00:05:05.77\00:05:09.47 fit into our daily lives, and how important it is 00:05:09.50\00:05:14.21 to understand how they apply to our walk. 00:05:14.41\00:05:16.95 Why do we need grace? 00:05:17.15\00:05:18.68 Why is it important to repent before we are baptized? 00:05:18.98\00:05:22.45 And how many people repent anymore? 00:05:22.48\00:05:25.19 How many people even say, "I have something to repent of." 00:05:25.39\00:05:28.72 How many people look at membership rather than 00:05:29.16\00:05:32.13 a new fellowship with Christ? 00:05:32.16\00:05:33.96 Some people say, "I want to join the church. 00:05:34.06\00:05:35.93 What does your church believe?" 00:05:35.96\00:05:37.47 rather than, "How am I to change?" 00:05:37.57\00:05:39.73 "Who am I to follow?" 00:05:39.77\00:05:41.10 "How is my life going to be different?" 00:05:41.14\00:05:42.47 And so these are really important aspects. 00:05:42.64\00:05:44.87 That's why I entitled it, let's say it together, 00:05:44.97\00:05:47.31 Our Greatest Need. 00:05:47.34\00:05:49.84 Our Greatest Need. 00:05:51.68\00:05:54.35 There you go. Our Greatest Need. 00:05:54.38\00:05:57.12 You don't say, "That was a great dinner." 00:05:57.22\00:06:00.36 "That was a great dinner." 00:06:00.82\00:06:02.22 So we're going to talk about our greatest need. 00:06:02.26\00:06:03.86 Now to dive right into it, 00:06:03.89\00:06:05.23 I'd like to go to our first question. 00:06:05.56\00:06:07.00 Because we have quite a bit to cover. 00:06:07.03\00:06:08.46 And as I lead into it, what I want to ask you, 00:06:08.66\00:06:12.63 or actually lay the foundation for is, 00:06:12.67\00:06:15.30 we live in a world where, when storms hit, when hurricanes hit, 00:06:15.34\00:06:21.98 when fires hit, when floods hit, when we lose the things that 00:06:22.01\00:06:28.62 we have relied on so much; a house, a roof over our head, 00:06:28.65\00:06:33.32 our food, our cars that are often washed away in floods 00:06:33.36\00:06:37.29 or destroyed in earthquakes, or become the victim of tsunamis, 00:06:37.33\00:06:43.77 all these basic things that we spend a lot of money on, 00:06:43.80\00:06:46.63 when you look at the relief effort, people don't say, 00:06:47.24\00:06:52.21 "I need another car." 00:06:52.74\00:06:54.11 They say, "I just want some food. 00:06:54.14\00:06:56.21 I want some water. 00:06:56.61\00:06:58.61 I want some place to lay my head. 00:06:59.11\00:07:02.08 I just need the basic necessities." 00:07:02.12\00:07:04.55 And all of a sudden, the things that they spent a lot of 00:07:05.25\00:07:07.26 money on lose their significance 00:07:07.29\00:07:09.32 when it comes down to the basic things. 00:07:09.36\00:07:10.89 "Just give me some fresh water. 00:07:10.93\00:07:12.59 I need some food. 00:07:12.96\00:07:14.60 It wouldn't hurt to have the air conditioning, 00:07:14.73\00:07:16.06 but I can forgo that if I could just have some 00:07:16.10\00:07:18.20 place to lay my head." 00:07:18.23\00:07:19.63 And so in our world today, which is a world 00:07:19.87\00:07:21.70 wracked by disasters... 00:07:21.74\00:07:23.17 And I'm sure that many of you that are watching the program, 00:07:23.20\00:07:25.21 not to date this program, but many of you that watch 00:07:25.64\00:07:29.31 the program or listen to the program know that our world is 00:07:29.34\00:07:31.55 at any given moment another disaster can break out. 00:07:31.75\00:07:34.42 We are on the verge, in some cases, of nuclear war 00:07:35.32\00:07:39.75 or nuclear exchange. 00:07:40.26\00:07:42.09 And there is no such thing as limited nuclear exchange. 00:07:42.12\00:07:45.76 It's like limited annihilation. 00:07:46.36\00:07:48.10 There is no such thing. 00:07:48.13\00:07:49.46 But we live in a world where the basic needs are often ignored 00:07:50.07\00:07:53.50 until the things that we have leaned on are no longer there. 00:07:53.54\00:07:56.71 So tonight that's why I want to begin with 00:07:57.37\00:07:58.94 one of the most basic needs. 00:07:59.14\00:08:01.04 And the first question is a very thought provoking question, 00:08:01.08\00:08:04.65 which is as follows. 00:08:04.68\00:08:06.45 Question number one. 00:08:06.48\00:08:08.05 Now we know He's willing about a lot of things, 00:08:19.09\00:08:21.16 but what's the only thing He's unwilling about? 00:08:21.20\00:08:24.60 Let us go to 2 Peter 3:9. 00:08:24.63\00:08:28.60 2 Peter 3:9 00:08:29.70\00:08:33.44 Those of you that know your Bible, 00:08:33.71\00:08:35.04 you know where I'm headed. 00:08:35.08\00:08:36.41 But let's let the Bible speak for our topic tonight. 00:08:36.44\00:08:39.71 Since it is our first verse, let's read this one together. 00:08:40.12\00:08:43.02 Here we are. 00:08:43.12\00:08:44.45 Isn't that good news? 00:09:00.87\00:09:02.20 So when you thing about it, if you were to put Jesus 00:09:02.70\00:09:05.04 in our society today, and He's walking past 00:09:05.07\00:09:07.38 people in the grocery store, or people on the train, 00:09:07.41\00:09:10.31 or people in the restaurant, or people just in general, 00:09:10.41\00:09:14.25 just passing them by, and somebody would say, 00:09:14.28\00:09:17.92 "What about him, Lord?" 00:09:19.09\00:09:20.59 "I'm not willing that he should perish." 00:09:20.62\00:09:22.42 "What about her?" 00:09:22.46\00:09:23.79 "I'm not willing that she should perish." 00:09:23.83\00:09:25.66 "What about them?" 00:09:25.69\00:09:27.03 "I'm not willing that they should perish." 00:09:27.06\00:09:28.66 The only ones that Jesus had a difficult time with 00:09:28.70\00:09:31.83 were those that did not have a sense of their own need. 00:09:32.47\00:09:36.07 And He talked about it in a sense, He said, 00:09:36.30\00:09:37.87 "If you were sick, I could do something for you. 00:09:37.91\00:09:40.48 I'm the master Physician, but you don't admit 00:09:41.24\00:09:44.78 that you even have an illness. 00:09:45.41\00:09:47.02 So I can't do anything for you. 00:09:47.05\00:09:48.72 I've come to help those who know they need a physician." 00:09:49.02\00:09:52.02 But what I like about this is, He says, 00:09:52.42\00:09:53.96 "I'm not willing that any should..." What? 00:09:53.99\00:09:55.79 "...that any should perish." 00:09:56.59\00:09:58.53 Thus John 3:16, that, "Whosoever believeth in Him 00:09:58.73\00:10:03.23 should not perish." 00:10:03.26\00:10:05.17 So this whole idea that there are those that 00:10:05.27\00:10:07.80 are predestined to be lost and those predestined to be saved 00:10:08.00\00:10:10.97 is not true about Christ. 00:10:11.01\00:10:12.67 Nobody is born to be lost. 00:10:13.07\00:10:14.98 Everyone is born with an opportunity to be saved. 00:10:15.51\00:10:19.01 And let me reiterate, no one is born to be determined 00:10:19.11\00:10:22.75 to be destroyed. 00:10:22.78\00:10:24.12 We are born in a lost condition. 00:10:24.59\00:10:27.16 But no one is born to be determined to be lost. 00:10:27.49\00:10:30.66 Each one makes a decision for him or herself. 00:10:30.99\00:10:34.20 So let's write this down. 00:10:34.23\00:10:35.56 What is the only thing that Jesus is unwilling about? 00:10:35.60\00:10:38.07 What is it about? 00:10:38.57\00:10:39.90 He's unwilling that any should perish. 00:10:40.80\00:10:43.64 When you go back and look at the Bible statistics, 00:10:43.94\00:10:47.04 you ask yourself, how is it that only eight people 00:10:47.24\00:10:49.71 got saved in Noah's day? 00:10:49.74\00:10:51.25 It wasn't that He was unwilling to save them, 00:10:51.58\00:10:53.75 it's that they were unwilling to receive salvation. 00:10:53.78\00:10:56.82 So for something to be effective, 00:10:57.19\00:10:59.09 you've got to receive it. 00:10:59.12\00:11:00.52 I say to people, and I do this sometimes in the context of 00:11:01.42\00:11:06.26 prayer meeting, inviting people to prayer meeting, 00:11:06.49\00:11:08.16 or sometimes I'd say, "If you're really hungry, 00:11:08.20\00:11:11.73 turn on the television, wait till the commercial comes on. 00:11:12.07\00:11:15.50 If you see a really nice dinner, look at that dinner, 00:11:15.74\00:11:18.37 and see if you get any nourishment." 00:11:18.41\00:11:20.04 You really don't. 00:11:20.08\00:11:21.41 Right? 00:11:21.44\00:11:22.78 You have to receive it. 00:11:22.81\00:11:24.15 It has to be ingested. 00:11:24.18\00:11:25.51 It has to be masticated, you have to chew it. 00:11:25.65\00:11:28.35 You have to ingest. 00:11:28.38\00:11:29.78 You have to chew on the Word of God. 00:11:29.88\00:11:31.49 And so, when it comes to salvation, 00:11:31.92\00:11:33.76 one of the first things we have to keep in mind 00:11:33.79\00:11:35.59 is the Lord can't do anything for anyone 00:11:35.69\00:11:38.46 who doesn't acknowledge his or her condition. 00:11:38.49\00:11:40.90 But He's not willing that they should perish. 00:11:41.36\00:11:42.93 He doesn't give up anybody to be lost. 00:11:42.96\00:11:45.33 They make that their own decision. 00:11:45.60\00:11:47.37 But now here's a passage that is very important. 00:11:47.80\00:11:52.47 Because I've heard people sometimes say, 00:11:52.51\00:11:54.34 "Well you know, there are people that are going to burn in hell 00:11:54.38\00:12:01.45 forever and ever, and ever, and ever, and ever, and ever." 00:12:01.48\00:12:09.52 I have to just keep saying it for it to be forever. 00:12:09.56\00:12:11.79 But I'm not going to do that. I only have but so much time. 00:12:12.16\00:12:14.93 They say people are going to burn throughout 00:12:14.96\00:12:16.73 eternity ceaselessly. 00:12:16.77\00:12:19.17 But that's not in the Scriptures. 00:12:19.20\00:12:20.54 Because if that were the case, then this scripture 00:12:20.57\00:12:23.04 that we're going to read in just a moment here 00:12:23.07\00:12:24.61 would not be true about the character of Christ. 00:12:24.81\00:12:27.58 So let's look at the next question. 00:12:28.24\00:12:29.71 Look at the next question. 00:12:29.81\00:12:31.21 The question is, what is God's great appeal to humanity? 00:12:31.81\00:12:37.12 This is an amazing appeal. 00:12:42.22\00:12:43.93 Moses extended this to the Israelites. 00:12:43.96\00:12:48.63 Noah extended this to the antediluvian world. 00:12:49.00\00:12:51.80 And every place where you find salvation and loss 00:12:51.97\00:12:54.84 at the same intersection, 00:12:54.87\00:12:56.57 you find both of these elements there. 00:12:57.11\00:12:58.97 But notice what Jesus extended, or the great appeal to humanity. 00:12:59.01\00:13:03.35 Let's look at this together. 00:13:03.65\00:13:04.98 He says, "For I have..." What? 00:13:05.35\00:13:08.38 Turn and live. 00:13:19.73\00:13:21.06 Which means, some of us are already on the 00:13:21.10\00:13:23.93 road to destruction. 00:13:23.97\00:13:25.30 But as the saying goes, if you're going in the 00:13:25.33\00:13:28.27 wrong direction, God allows what? 00:13:28.30\00:13:30.81 God allows U-turns. 00:13:31.21\00:13:32.84 But now here's the other aspect of it which we're going to 00:13:33.68\00:13:35.74 find out in just a moment. 00:13:35.78\00:13:37.11 It is not, if you're on the road 00:13:37.65\00:13:40.22 or if you're moving in the wrong direction. 00:13:40.32\00:13:42.78 It is, you'll find in the next few verses 00:13:43.08\00:13:45.45 or in the next few questions, 00:13:45.49\00:13:46.82 we were all born moving in the wrong direction. 00:13:47.02\00:13:51.59 So Jesus didn't just come to change our standing, 00:13:52.53\00:13:55.16 He came to change our direction. 00:13:55.20\00:13:58.27 And every time you look in the Bible on the place of 00:13:59.77\00:14:01.87 righteousness, you find the sheep on the right hand, 00:14:01.90\00:14:04.87 the way of salvation is the right hand, 00:14:05.24\00:14:07.48 we have pleasures at His right hand. 00:14:07.68\00:14:09.81 Every time the right hand. 00:14:10.21\00:14:11.71 You'll never see salvation referred to as the left hand. 00:14:11.75\00:14:14.58 The goats are on the left. 00:14:14.62\00:14:15.98 The way of destruction is on the left. 00:14:16.02\00:14:17.65 Strangely enough they have songs that say, 00:14:18.55\00:14:20.76 "To the left, to the left." 00:14:20.79\00:14:22.42 Anyway, you might have caught that. 00:14:24.73\00:14:26.63 So here's the question, what is God's great appeal 00:14:27.60\00:14:30.37 to humanity? 00:14:30.40\00:14:31.73 What is God's great appeal? 00:14:31.77\00:14:33.10 Three words. 00:14:33.30\00:14:34.64 Turn and live. Write that down. 00:14:35.07\00:14:36.67 Turn and live. Turn and live. 00:14:36.71\00:14:39.87 It's kind of like the flashing railroad signs, 00:14:39.91\00:14:42.71 the bridge out signs, the roadblocks. 00:14:42.74\00:14:47.98 Turn and live. 00:14:48.58\00:14:50.22 But there are those who are speeding to their destruction 00:14:50.92\00:14:54.32 because they don't understand their greatest need. 00:14:54.36\00:14:57.36 Thus far we've discovered that He's not willing 00:14:57.79\00:14:59.63 that any should perish. 00:14:59.66\00:15:01.00 But there's an action that each person has to take. 00:15:01.03\00:15:02.63 And what is the action? 00:15:02.66\00:15:04.00 We have to what? Turn and live. 00:15:04.03\00:15:06.84 The Lord doesn't turn anybody's shoulder. 00:15:07.17\00:15:09.74 He invites. 00:15:09.77\00:15:11.11 This is the way, this is the way; walk in it. 00:15:11.44\00:15:14.58 But you've got to make the decision. 00:15:14.64\00:15:16.21 He doesn't put anybody on the conveyor belt to salvation, 00:15:16.41\00:15:19.01 but He offers them a place in the journey of salvation. 00:15:19.05\00:15:23.39 Now, look at the next question. 00:15:23.49\00:15:25.45 The next question. 00:15:26.49\00:15:27.82 Why is the appeal for salvation life, or eternal life, 00:15:27.96\00:15:32.99 I put, "salvation life," so vital? 00:15:33.03\00:15:34.80 Which, in fact, it's not just salvation, but it is a life. 00:15:34.83\00:15:37.57 Okay? 00:15:37.87\00:15:39.20 Why is it so vital? 00:15:43.20\00:15:44.87 Let's go to Romans 3:23. 00:15:44.91\00:15:47.18 Romans 3:23 00:15:47.78\00:15:49.48 So vital. 00:15:52.38\00:15:53.72 Sometimes you think of vital statistics. 00:15:53.75\00:15:55.88 Or the vitality of life. 00:15:59.42\00:16:01.32 Why is the appeal for salvation so vital to all? 00:16:01.82\00:16:08.10 Let's look at this together. 00:16:08.30\00:16:09.96 Romans 3:23 00:16:10.00\00:16:11.60 And I'd like to invite you to read this one with me. 00:16:11.63\00:16:13.90 Are we ready? Let's read it together. 00:16:14.34\00:16:16.27 What I've learned in times of disaster 00:16:24.28\00:16:26.85 is that disaster doesn't care how much your house cost. 00:16:27.35\00:16:32.15 Flood doesn't care how much you paid. 00:16:34.29\00:16:36.59 Water doesn't say, "Oh, that's an expensive car. 00:16:36.62\00:16:38.79 Let's go around it." 00:16:38.83\00:16:40.16 No. 00:16:40.30\00:16:41.63 Everything that is in the path of destruction 00:16:41.70\00:16:44.17 will be destroyed when any kind of calamity comes. 00:16:44.50\00:16:49.90 And in reality here, the calamity that each one of us 00:16:50.84\00:16:54.04 could avoid is in fact, based on this text, it says, 00:16:54.08\00:16:57.95 "For all have done..." What? 00:16:57.98\00:16:59.35 Sinned. 00:16:59.38\00:17:00.72 Every one of us is in a fallen condition. 00:17:00.75\00:17:03.12 We're born into that. That's our lot. 00:17:03.35\00:17:05.89 So why is the appeal for salvation so vital? 00:17:05.92\00:17:09.06 Why? 00:17:09.69\00:17:11.03 All have sinned. 00:17:11.23\00:17:12.56 All have sinned. 00:17:12.96\00:17:14.76 And when you look at that, if you compare that to 00:17:14.80\00:17:17.20 the other verses in the Bible such as 1 Corinthians 15:22, 00:17:17.23\00:17:21.17 the word here, or specifically the definition here, 00:17:21.27\00:17:25.47 "for all have sinned," is not just at the point of 00:17:25.51\00:17:29.31 accountability, but all are in the condition of sin. 00:17:29.34\00:17:33.42 All have inherited what Adam has given to them. 00:17:33.72\00:17:37.49 As in Adam, all die. 00:17:37.52\00:17:39.62 Even so, in Christ all shall be made alive. 00:17:39.89\00:17:42.72 Notice, provision for all on both sides. 00:17:42.76\00:17:45.49 The Lord can save everyone if we respond to His invitation. 00:17:46.06\00:17:51.90 Now, number four is very important because it talks about 00:17:52.80\00:17:58.21 the biblical description of sin. 00:17:58.51\00:18:00.31 Let's look at number four together. 00:18:00.34\00:18:01.74 Number four. 00:18:03.08\00:18:04.41 Let's look at four categories. 00:18:09.62\00:18:10.95 I've decided to look a little deeper into the Bible, 00:18:14.42\00:18:17.66 because a lot of times we go over the same scriptures. 00:18:17.76\00:18:19.96 But I decided, Lord, I know there are thousands 00:18:20.06\00:18:23.90 of scriptures in the Bible. 00:18:23.93\00:18:25.27 Let's look at a new one tonight. 00:18:26.47\00:18:27.90 Isaiah 48:8 00:18:29.00\00:18:31.37 This is an amazing one. 00:18:31.94\00:18:33.31 Maybe you have read it, maybe you have not. 00:18:33.98\00:18:35.91 But let's read this together. 00:18:35.94\00:18:37.35 The first word, "Surely..." 00:18:37.81\00:18:40.58 Wow! 00:18:59.83\00:19:01.17 Wow! 00:19:01.87\00:19:03.20 So this baby comes out into an environment, 00:19:03.47\00:19:08.51 and if you follow this text you look down at the baby and say, 00:19:08.98\00:19:13.31 "You are such a beautiful transgressor." 00:19:13.35\00:19:15.88 We wouldn't say that, would we? 00:19:17.42\00:19:18.85 Oh we say, "He looks so innocent, so cute." 00:19:18.89\00:19:23.36 Miss their feeding time. 00:19:23.39\00:19:25.16 Right? 00:19:25.99\00:19:27.33 Mothers, do you know what I'm talking about? 00:19:27.50\00:19:29.00 Miss the feeding time. 00:19:29.33\00:19:30.67 They look at you like they're saying, 00:19:31.17\00:19:32.50 "You better be glad I'm not bigger than this." 00:19:32.53\00:19:34.34 Right? 00:19:35.47\00:19:36.81 Because I've heard babies cry with a vehement wail. 00:19:36.84\00:19:41.58 They don't cry cute. They wail. 00:19:41.61\00:19:45.35 I was reminded recently on a flight my wife and I were on. 00:19:45.68\00:19:48.42 We were going to Bogota, Columbia. 00:19:48.85\00:19:50.79 And there were two babies in front of us 00:19:51.95\00:19:53.46 and a baby behind us. 00:19:53.69\00:19:55.12 And thus the reason I always carry two pairs of ear plugs 00:19:55.49\00:19:59.43 or headsets. 00:20:00.10\00:20:01.43 Because I will not be digested by the crying of a baby. 00:20:01.46\00:20:05.50 And when they cry on those planes, they really wail out. 00:20:05.80\00:20:08.70 But that's what they do. 00:20:08.74\00:20:10.31 That's their nature. 00:20:11.14\00:20:12.47 And the Bible describes that from the very moment 00:20:12.51\00:20:14.74 that we were born, we were what? 00:20:14.78\00:20:17.15 Transgressors. 00:20:17.85\00:20:19.45 We were transgressors. 00:20:19.65\00:20:21.35 It just took time for us to manifest whatever that sin was. 00:20:21.38\00:20:25.25 But we had the nature immediately. 00:20:25.42\00:20:27.89 And David says it the other way. 00:20:28.12\00:20:29.56 He says, "In sin, my mother did conceive me." 00:20:29.59\00:20:32.26 He didn't say, "My mother was a sinner when she conceived me," 00:20:32.29\00:20:34.50 which in fact was true, but he's in essence saying, 00:20:34.53\00:20:36.83 "The environment to which I was born was an environment of sin." 00:20:36.87\00:20:40.70 I was born this way. 00:20:40.74\00:20:43.14 That's why each one of us must be born again. 00:20:43.17\00:20:46.71 Very important to understand. 00:20:46.98\00:20:48.48 So the answer, 00:20:48.58\00:20:49.91 how does the Bible describe the sin condition? 00:20:50.25\00:20:52.48 What did you put for "A"? 00:20:52.51\00:20:53.85 Transgressor from the womb. 00:20:54.65\00:20:56.75 Wow! 00:20:56.79\00:20:58.12 That would really revolutionize the nursery. 00:20:59.35\00:21:04.76 "Transgressors in this section." 00:21:06.33\00:21:08.70 I don't think the parents would like that. 00:21:09.73\00:21:11.50 But now this is the first one. 00:21:13.47\00:21:14.80 By the way, question number four, to me, 00:21:16.00\00:21:18.44 is the reality check. 00:21:18.47\00:21:20.04 It's the reality check. 00:21:20.38\00:21:21.81 Just when you think that you're just above or below, 00:21:21.84\00:21:25.58 or to the side, or elevated above someone else, 00:21:25.61\00:21:28.35 question four comes into play. 00:21:28.38\00:21:30.09 Now let's look at the other one. 00:21:30.12\00:21:31.59 Ephesians 4:18 00:21:31.89\00:21:34.12 Ephesians 4:18 00:21:34.52\00:21:36.39 Wow, wow, this is just... 00:21:37.56\00:21:39.69 When I was looking these text up, it was just 00:21:40.33\00:21:42.80 another reminder of how important it is to have a 00:21:42.83\00:21:45.77 walking relationship with Jesus. 00:21:45.80\00:21:47.47 Ephesians 4:18, look at what the Bible says. 00:21:48.40\00:21:50.61 That's the natural condition. 00:22:08.36\00:22:10.39 Let's look at that again. 00:22:10.43\00:22:11.79 "Understanding darkened," means you can't understand. 00:22:12.06\00:22:14.30 That's why when people say to me when I'm sharing in the Bible, 00:22:14.33\00:22:17.90 a particular teaching the Bible, they say, 00:22:17.93\00:22:20.97 "I don't see how the Sabbath is important." 00:22:21.00\00:22:23.34 I say, "I understand that." 00:22:23.37\00:22:24.74 Because you can't see. 00:22:25.81\00:22:28.48 Unless you are born again, we cannot see. 00:22:28.51\00:22:32.51 Unless one is born of the water and of the Spirit, 00:22:33.21\00:22:35.12 they cannot see. 00:22:35.15\00:22:36.85 So when people say, "I don't see what's wrong with this," 00:22:37.05\00:22:38.95 or, "I don't see what's wrong with that," 00:22:39.15\00:22:40.59 or, "I don't see what's wrong with going there," 00:22:40.62\00:22:42.36 or wearing this, or eating that, 00:22:42.39\00:22:44.39 or this kind of activity, that is exactly what the Bible says. 00:22:44.59\00:22:47.70 Their understanding is what? 00:22:47.96\00:22:49.63 Darkened. 00:22:49.83\00:22:51.23 And why? 00:22:51.37\00:22:52.70 Being alienated from God. 00:22:52.80\00:22:55.54 Now God is light. Is He not? Amen? 00:22:55.57\00:22:57.94 So if He's light and you're alienated, where are you? 00:22:58.57\00:23:01.64 In the dark. 00:23:02.04\00:23:03.38 You can't see without light. 00:23:03.55\00:23:05.21 We all know that. 00:23:05.25\00:23:06.58 The other thing that results from being alienated from God: 00:23:07.58\00:23:11.02 ignorance. 00:23:12.05\00:23:13.39 Now sometimes people take the word, "ignorance," 00:23:13.42\00:23:15.22 as a bad word. 00:23:15.26\00:23:16.59 Because growing up in New York, people use to say, 00:23:16.62\00:23:18.56 "You're just ignorant." 00:23:18.59\00:23:19.93 And we thought that was a bad word. 00:23:19.96\00:23:21.30 What it just simply means is, you don't understand. 00:23:21.33\00:23:23.26 Meaning, you don't know. 00:23:23.53\00:23:24.87 But in this case, it simply means that their understanding 00:23:24.90\00:23:28.67 is darkened. 00:23:28.70\00:23:30.04 That's why the Bible says the entrance of God's word 00:23:30.07\00:23:33.01 brings light. 00:23:33.04\00:23:34.54 Am I right? 00:23:35.14\00:23:36.48 The entrance of God's word brings light. 00:23:38.11\00:23:40.82 And then it talks about the blindness of their heart. 00:23:41.42\00:23:44.89 How many of you see with your heart? 00:23:44.92\00:23:46.89 Raise your hand. 00:23:47.32\00:23:48.66 I'll do it for you. 00:23:52.13\00:23:53.96 Because we do see with our heart. 00:23:55.43\00:23:57.00 Because what you love, 00:23:57.70\00:24:00.07 what you focus on, what really grabs your affection, 00:24:02.04\00:24:05.51 is where your heart usually is. 00:24:07.38\00:24:10.05 But when your heart is not in it, you're blind. 00:24:10.78\00:24:15.55 Somebody once said, "Love is blind." 00:24:16.15\00:24:17.62 That's not true. 00:24:17.65\00:24:18.99 That's the most misunderstood statement I've ever heard. 00:24:19.02\00:24:21.92 God is love. Amen, somebody? 00:24:22.02\00:24:23.83 If God is love, love can't be blind. 00:24:24.23\00:24:26.29 You see how they put love and blindness together? 00:24:26.33\00:24:29.80 No, the carnal heart is blind. 00:24:29.83\00:24:32.20 The blindness of the heart. 00:24:32.87\00:24:34.27 That's why the Word of God is needed on a day by day basis. 00:24:34.50\00:24:37.14 So far, so far we have transgressor from the womb. 00:24:37.17\00:24:41.01 Now the other thing is, you can summarize it 00:24:41.04\00:24:44.05 in any way you'd like to do that. 00:24:44.08\00:24:46.05 But let's go to the third one. 00:24:46.41\00:24:48.08 Let's go to Jeremiah 17:9. 00:24:48.12\00:24:50.49 Summarize it the way that you feel 00:24:50.52\00:24:52.09 will best fit your understanding. 00:24:52.19\00:24:53.99 The third one. 00:24:54.66\00:24:55.99 This is one you cannot find out with a stethoscope. 00:24:56.89\00:24:59.86 Jeremiah 17:9 00:25:01.33\00:25:03.13 Hmm. 00:25:04.10\00:25:05.43 This is the passage I've always thought of 00:25:09.57\00:25:11.67 to tell people when they say, "Well my neighbor 00:25:11.71\00:25:13.98 has a good heart." 00:25:14.54\00:25:16.04 Well according to this... 00:25:17.05\00:25:18.48 The Bible says, together, "The heart is..." What? 00:25:19.71\00:25:23.18 That means you don't know what to expect. 00:25:31.39\00:25:33.63 When a person is not regenerated, when a person 00:25:34.33\00:25:36.46 hasn't given his or her life to Christ, 00:25:36.50\00:25:38.10 you don't know what's coming next. 00:25:38.30\00:25:40.10 Because the heart is what? Deceitful. 00:25:40.14\00:25:41.97 The word, "deceitful," means, it's like a mouse 00:25:42.00\00:25:46.44 looking for an opening. 00:25:46.47\00:25:47.81 It's like a mouse that's sniffing everything 00:25:48.64\00:25:50.31 making sure this is not a trap. 00:25:50.35\00:25:51.71 It's like a mouse that comes to capitalize. 00:25:52.51\00:25:55.55 You've just cleaned your house up, 00:25:55.58\00:25:57.59 you just put everything away nice in your closet, 00:25:57.89\00:26:00.76 and the mouse comes overnight and 00:26:01.02\00:26:02.59 chews a hole in your cereal box. 00:26:02.62\00:26:04.46 Because if there's a way for that deceitful mouse 00:26:05.83\00:26:08.23 to find his way in, he's going to find his way in. 00:26:08.26\00:26:11.73 And then you can't find him. 00:26:12.00\00:26:13.34 That's why it says, "Who can know it?" 00:26:13.37\00:26:14.80 You can't, you cannot know. 00:26:14.84\00:26:16.74 The heart is deceitful and desperately wicked. 00:26:16.77\00:26:19.54 That's why we all need Jesus. 00:26:19.57\00:26:20.91 Can somebody say amen? 00:26:20.94\00:26:22.28 The condition is amazing. 00:26:23.14\00:26:24.48 See, I'm laying the foundation here because 00:26:24.98\00:26:26.55 we have to understand our condition 00:26:26.65\00:26:29.65 before we understand how beautiful the Savior is. 00:26:30.19\00:26:32.29 We've got to understand our true standing 00:26:32.32\00:26:37.26 before we understand whether or not we need to be 00:26:37.29\00:26:39.66 wheeled into surgery, spiritual surgery. 00:26:39.69\00:26:42.43 If we are put on a gurney and we're being wheeled 00:26:42.80\00:26:45.23 into surgery, and the doctor says, "What's your problem?" 00:26:45.27\00:26:47.97 "I have no idea." 00:26:48.37\00:26:49.87 Then you better get off the gurney. 00:26:50.77\00:26:53.01 But if you say, "I've got a bad heart, 00:26:53.54\00:26:55.91 I can't see, I don't understand anything, 00:26:57.51\00:27:01.72 I think I have insomnia," whatever the case may be, 00:27:01.75\00:27:05.02 "I can't sleep," when you understand your condition, 00:27:05.05\00:27:08.29 then you know you need a physician. 00:27:08.32\00:27:10.19 And these are conditions that are being described as 00:27:10.23\00:27:12.56 the spiritual, let me use the word here, 00:27:12.59\00:27:17.53 our spiritual bankruptcy. 00:27:18.43\00:27:20.54 These are the places that we are 00:27:21.64\00:27:23.47 when it comes to the human nature. 00:27:23.67\00:27:25.24 Look at the other one. Look at the other one. 00:27:25.27\00:27:27.44 This is Ephesians 2:1. 00:27:28.48\00:27:30.11 So for "C", you put what? 00:27:30.31\00:27:32.15 Heart problems. Heart problems. 00:27:32.51\00:27:35.08 That's a good one. Heart trouble. 00:27:35.35\00:27:36.99 And "D", here it is. 00:27:37.59\00:27:39.62 Ephesians 2:1 00:27:39.65\00:27:41.02 Now you might think, why put trespasses and sins? 00:27:51.93\00:27:56.34 Understand the two. 00:27:56.44\00:27:57.84 It's very important to understand the difference 00:27:58.07\00:27:59.84 between a trespass and sins. 00:27:59.87\00:28:01.88 Sins were often things that people just 00:28:02.14\00:28:06.25 were gravitatedly drawn to. 00:28:06.38\00:28:09.72 They repeated. 00:28:09.92\00:28:11.25 And the word there, "sins," can be better described 00:28:11.29\00:28:13.86 as a pet sin. 00:28:13.89\00:28:16.02 Trespasses were things that people did, they stumbled into 00:28:16.62\00:28:21.36 or they did it unintentionally. 00:28:21.70\00:28:23.67 And there in the Old Testament, when you study in the book of 00:28:23.70\00:28:25.73 Leviticus and Deuteronomy, look up, "trespass offerings." 00:28:25.77\00:28:29.80 Trespass offerings. 00:28:30.47\00:28:31.97 For the person, and this is a very great example, 00:28:32.61\00:28:35.34 it says, if you are out cutting a tree down 00:28:35.38\00:28:38.35 and the ax slips out of your hand and killed your neighbor, 00:28:38.88\00:28:43.22 unintentionally, you must offer a trespass offering. 00:28:43.92\00:28:48.66 And you must remunerate, or not pay, but give something 00:28:49.32\00:28:53.33 to the family who has been injured. 00:28:53.36\00:28:55.06 And that is something that can be forgiven. 00:28:55.66\00:28:58.10 Right, but the next one is the city of refuge. 00:28:59.40\00:29:02.94 But then if you are out just killing folk with an ax, 00:29:02.97\00:29:06.57 that's not a trespass, that's an intentional act. 00:29:07.04\00:29:09.88 And it's okay if people pursue you to kill you. 00:29:10.55\00:29:14.45 That's where the city of refuge comes in. 00:29:17.99\00:29:20.09 You've got to run. But only for those... 00:29:20.56\00:29:23.32 The city of refuge is not a haven for criminals, 00:29:23.83\00:29:27.10 but it's a place where we meet with the high priest 00:29:27.80\00:29:31.43 if we have a heart of repentance. 00:29:31.80\00:29:33.77 You don't run into the city of refuge and wait till 00:29:33.80\00:29:35.80 people go to sleep and come back out and keep killing folk. 00:29:35.84\00:29:38.21 No, the city of refuge is, you run in to be saved. 00:29:38.41\00:29:42.48 And the high priest waits for you at the door. 00:29:42.81\00:29:44.81 He can't come out, you've got to go in. 00:29:44.85\00:29:47.65 And here's the beauty of it. 00:29:47.68\00:29:49.12 As long as the high priest lives, you are safe. 00:29:49.15\00:29:52.35 So now you see in the Bible, I think it's Hebrews 7:25, 00:29:52.62\00:29:55.62 we'll get there later on, but it says, "He ever lives." 00:29:55.66\00:29:58.69 Amen, somebody? 00:29:58.73\00:30:00.06 So any time you want to run into the city of refuge, 00:30:00.20\00:30:02.60 or into the arms of Christ, He ever lives. 00:30:02.63\00:30:06.20 He's always there. 00:30:06.23\00:30:07.74 You're not going to run and find, "Where is He?" 00:30:07.77\00:30:10.97 He ever lives to make intercession for us. 00:30:11.07\00:30:14.91 So on "D" you'll put, dead in trespasses and sin. 00:30:15.58\00:30:20.98 These are the conditions that we're in. 00:30:22.15\00:30:23.85 So you might meet a person that is very wealthy, 00:30:23.89\00:30:25.85 a person that's good, that has great means, 00:30:25.95\00:30:28.42 or you might meet a person that just has nothing. 00:30:28.46\00:30:30.99 From the person with absolutely nothing to the person with 00:30:31.29\00:30:34.76 appearingly almost everything, each one of those individuals 00:30:34.86\00:30:39.47 without Christ falls into all four of these categories. 00:30:39.50\00:30:43.61 No deception here. 00:30:44.24\00:30:45.87 But let's keep going. 00:30:47.04\00:30:48.38 This lesson is to paint the most horrible picture 00:30:49.31\00:30:52.31 so that the next lesson can paint the most beautiful. 00:30:52.81\00:30:55.42 And we're going to transition somewhere along the way. 00:30:55.45\00:30:57.35 So you're not going to leave here depressed. 00:30:57.45\00:30:59.59 You're going to leave here encouraged. 00:31:00.16\00:31:01.49 Amen? 00:31:01.52\00:31:02.86 Let's go to number five, though. 00:31:02.89\00:31:04.23 We've got to get all the conditions outlined here. 00:31:04.26\00:31:06.56 Very important. 00:31:06.59\00:31:07.93 Okay, question number five. 00:31:08.00\00:31:10.40 What if we put on the most expensive perfume? 00:31:17.31\00:31:20.08 What about the most expensive suit? 00:31:20.88\00:31:22.78 What about if we got a new haircut? 00:31:23.21\00:31:25.38 Nice clothes? 00:31:26.35\00:31:27.68 Beautiful house? 00:31:28.12\00:31:29.45 There's a problem. 00:31:29.52\00:31:30.85 How capable are we? 00:31:30.89\00:31:32.45 Look at what the Bible says in Jeremiah 13:23. 00:31:32.49\00:31:35.82 Jeremiah, those prophets that told it like it is. 00:31:35.92\00:31:38.79 The Bible says... 00:31:39.33\00:31:40.66 The answer? No. But look at this. 00:31:47.20\00:31:49.90 The word, "accustomed," means evil is a trend in your life. 00:31:58.41\00:32:01.85 And the person without Christ is... 00:32:02.18\00:32:04.45 Let's use the analogy here. 00:32:04.75\00:32:07.86 You find some dark analogies in the Scriptures. 00:32:07.89\00:32:10.23 But the word there, "accustomed," is tending toward 00:32:10.26\00:32:13.50 Genesis about the antediluvian where their thoughts 00:32:14.10\00:32:17.10 and intentions were only evil, how? 00:32:17.13\00:32:19.53 Continually. 00:32:19.83\00:32:21.60 And so when you look about it, if you think of a person who 00:32:21.64\00:32:24.27 is a liar, liar, liar, liar, liar, liar, lair, liar, liar, 00:32:24.31\00:32:29.01 thief, thief, thief, thief, thief, 00:32:29.04\00:32:30.48 murderer, murderer, murderer, murderer, 00:32:30.51\00:32:31.85 and they have no resentment, no desire to change, 00:32:31.88\00:32:35.78 no second plan to accept Christ, 00:32:35.82\00:32:37.99 they get to the point where they are calcified in their lives. 00:32:38.02\00:32:43.46 Because they are accustomed. 00:32:44.39\00:32:46.80 Have you ever met somebody who is just almost at the point 00:32:46.83\00:32:50.90 where they just lie naturally? 00:32:50.93\00:32:54.90 We had somebody in our family once that said that, 00:32:59.54\00:33:01.54 "If their lips are moving, they're lying." 00:33:01.91\00:33:03.71 You ever heard that before? 00:33:04.65\00:33:05.98 "So what do you..." "You're lying." 00:33:06.72\00:33:08.68 "So what..." "You're lying." 00:33:09.28\00:33:10.69 "Let me see your homework." 00:33:10.72\00:33:12.05 I remember growing up I knew someone that, 00:33:12.55\00:33:15.32 "Did you get any homework?" "Nope, did it in class today." 00:33:16.19\00:33:18.59 So the teacher and I created a pact. 00:33:19.46\00:33:21.43 Now I'm not going to ask, I'm not going to say 00:33:22.16\00:33:25.07 male or female, I'm not going to ask my family member 00:33:25.10\00:33:28.10 if he or she has homework. 00:33:28.94\00:33:31.04 I'm going to tell you to call me 00:33:31.47\00:33:33.31 and tell me that they have homework. 00:33:33.61\00:33:35.24 It's amazing what the human heart will do. 00:33:36.34\00:33:38.18 And the things that they will do just to get away 00:33:38.61\00:33:42.55 from doing homework. 00:33:42.58\00:33:43.92 Photocopy stuff and photocopy... 00:33:43.95\00:33:46.35 You know, young people are foolish at times. 00:33:46.39\00:33:48.86 So I said to the teacher, "You send home a sheet of paper 00:33:50.36\00:33:54.53 with the specific instructions on it." 00:33:56.06\00:33:58.43 And the paper had lines on it. 00:33:58.47\00:34:00.27 And I'll look at that, and I'll sign it. 00:34:01.60\00:34:03.87 And if they come back tomorrow with my signature, 00:34:04.17\00:34:06.98 then that means I saw it. 00:34:07.01\00:34:08.51 What do you think the first attempt will be? 00:34:08.84\00:34:10.75 Try to sign it. 00:34:11.08\00:34:12.41 Well the teacher figured that one out. 00:34:13.62\00:34:16.82 So the next thing they did was to try to, 00:34:17.75\00:34:19.95 I had a photocopy machine, 00:34:20.79\00:34:22.52 so they put a blank sheet of paper over a piece of paper 00:34:22.76\00:34:26.23 that had lines. 00:34:26.26\00:34:27.70 A paper with no lines over a piece of paper that had lines. 00:34:28.30\00:34:32.10 And they photocopied the paper with no lines 00:34:32.13\00:34:34.24 to cover the paper that had lines. 00:34:34.27\00:34:36.14 And then they gave me the photocopy and said, 00:34:36.24\00:34:38.81 "See, I don't have any homework." 00:34:38.84\00:34:40.31 I said, "I've never seen a piece of paper that 00:34:40.34\00:34:42.34 runs out of lines halfway. 00:34:42.38\00:34:44.21 So why is this the only sheet of paper I've ever seen 00:34:47.72\00:34:50.59 that has lines only halfway down?" 00:34:50.69\00:34:53.05 "I don't know." 00:34:54.16\00:34:55.49 Come to find out, accustomed to doing evil. 00:34:56.12\00:35:00.00 Thank the Lord that person I'm referring to grew up. 00:35:01.03\00:35:04.10 Amen? 00:35:04.77\00:35:06.10 But that's the human heart. Accustomed. 00:35:06.47\00:35:08.70 We get so, we practice evil to the point where 00:35:08.74\00:35:12.41 when a heart is deceitful and desperately wicked, 00:35:13.61\00:35:17.91 and doesn't even sense his or her need of Christ, 00:35:18.11\00:35:20.62 they become, the term that's used often times in the 00:35:21.02\00:35:23.79 criminal world, they become career criminals. 00:35:23.82\00:35:26.99 Or they are career sinners. 00:35:27.22\00:35:30.26 Accustomed to do evil. 00:35:31.53\00:35:33.09 And they can't change. 00:35:33.13\00:35:34.56 This is something that's very important. 00:35:35.56\00:35:37.33 A person cannot change his or her ways. 00:35:37.53\00:35:42.54 Cannot do it. 00:35:43.87\00:35:45.21 I wish I had that quotation in front of me. 00:35:45.44\00:35:47.48 We cannot not, we can't say, "Okay, you know what? 00:35:47.94\00:35:51.35 Today I'm not doing it." 00:35:52.48\00:35:56.58 They could stand there. 00:36:02.06\00:36:03.49 The moment they move from that spot, they're going to do it. 00:36:03.89\00:36:06.63 That's why they say "Never say, 00:36:07.20\00:36:09.06 'I'm not going to eat the doughnut. 00:36:09.10\00:36:11.27 I am not going to eat the doughnut.'" 00:36:11.73\00:36:14.14 You know what happens? 00:36:14.17\00:36:15.50 The doughnut is gone. 00:36:16.00\00:36:17.34 It's a psychological conditioning. 00:36:18.87\00:36:20.68 The very thing you focus on that you're not going to do, 00:36:20.71\00:36:22.98 you do. 00:36:24.15\00:36:25.48 Paul said it. Didn't he say that in Romans? 00:36:25.98\00:36:28.02 "That which I don't want to do, that's what I'm doing. 00:36:28.32\00:36:31.29 And what I want to do, that's not... 00:36:31.32\00:36:33.79 I hate myself. Oh wretched man that I am." 00:36:33.82\00:36:37.19 So don't think that this is willpower. 00:36:37.23\00:36:39.43 This is not a study about willpower. 00:36:39.53\00:36:41.30 This is a study about our need of the power that Jesus offers 00:36:41.66\00:36:46.67 that is not native to us. 00:36:46.70\00:36:48.40 Amen? 00:36:48.44\00:36:49.77 The power outside of ourselves. 00:36:50.17\00:36:51.97 Cannot do it. 00:36:53.58\00:36:54.91 Let's go to the next question. Number six. 00:36:55.18\00:36:57.25 Cannot do it. 00:36:57.28\00:36:58.95 Cannot do it. 00:36:59.81\00:37:01.15 What did I say? 00:37:01.18\00:37:02.52 Cannot do it. 00:37:02.88\00:37:04.22 Just make sure it's clear. 00:37:04.42\00:37:05.75 Okay. Here it is. 00:37:06.39\00:37:09.42 We live in a world with multiplicity. 00:37:16.63\00:37:19.23 Duplicity is just two choices. 00:37:19.27\00:37:21.30 But multiplicity. 00:37:21.34\00:37:22.67 Meaning, we say, "I want to be Christian, Buddhist, Muslim, 00:37:22.70\00:37:28.08 Hindu, Sikh, Mormon, Jehovah's Witness..." 00:37:28.11\00:37:33.38 And the list goes on, and on, and on, and on, and on. 00:37:33.42\00:37:35.68 We think of multiplicity. 00:37:35.72\00:37:37.25 And often times people pick what fits them better. 00:37:37.29\00:37:44.23 So they say, "I want to be in this religion 00:37:45.86\00:37:48.50 or that religion." 00:37:49.03\00:37:50.73 But what I like about this question, it guides us 00:37:50.77\00:37:54.30 and it narrows down our options to just very minimal. 00:37:54.34\00:38:01.14 What options do we have in searching for salvation? 00:38:01.24\00:38:04.91 Look at Acts 4:12. 00:38:04.95\00:38:07.08 What options do we have? 00:38:07.12\00:38:08.48 People say, "What are the options?" 00:38:08.52\00:38:10.15 What options do we have... 00:38:10.92\00:38:12.49 ...in this world where Jesus is being denied? 00:38:13.86\00:38:19.09 Acts 4:12, the Bible says... 00:38:19.46\00:38:21.40 And what is that name? Somebody tell me. 00:38:35.41\00:38:37.35 The name is Jesus. 00:38:38.18\00:38:39.51 "He shall save His people from their sins." 00:38:40.25\00:38:43.39 Matthew 1:21 00:38:43.42\00:38:45.25 Luke 19:10, "He comes to seek and save that which was lost." 00:38:46.19\00:38:49.26 And in the world today, I could see how there's a 00:38:49.29\00:38:52.86 great controversy going on. 00:38:52.89\00:38:54.56 Because the devil makes people think, 00:38:54.60\00:38:56.10 "Oh, you don't really need Jesus." 00:38:56.13\00:38:57.93 So in some religions they make Him a good prophet, 00:38:57.97\00:39:00.17 some they make Him a good teacher, 00:39:00.54\00:39:02.10 Some they say, "Well, it's obvious He was around." 00:39:02.54\00:39:04.54 But then if you think about all the other prophets, 00:39:04.57\00:39:06.84 and teachers, and philosophers that have existed 00:39:06.88\00:39:09.48 in our world today, whether in the area of 00:39:09.51\00:39:12.98 psychology, music, or religion, or whatever the area may be, 00:39:13.01\00:39:17.75 no singular man has impacted the world as Jesus has. 00:39:17.79\00:39:22.59 Amen? 00:39:22.62\00:39:23.96 I mean, the entire dating system of the world 00:39:23.99\00:39:25.86 is based on His existence. 00:39:25.89\00:39:28.20 B.C., which is what? 00:39:28.46\00:39:30.10 Which is, "Before Christ." 00:39:31.43\00:39:33.64 And A.D., "Anno Domini;" "in the year of our Lord." 00:39:33.67\00:39:37.31 So when people say, 00:39:37.34\00:39:38.67 "Well, Jesus is a fictitious character." 00:39:38.71\00:39:42.44 Who would impact the world in such a way... 00:39:42.48\00:39:46.31 ...as a fictitious character? 00:39:49.92\00:39:51.62 He is not a fictitious character. 00:39:52.02\00:39:54.66 Jesus is real. What do you say? 00:39:54.69\00:39:56.86 There's no salvation in any other. 00:39:58.19\00:39:59.69 What options do we have? 00:39:59.73\00:40:01.16 There's only one name. And the name is Jesus. 00:40:01.20\00:40:04.80 Wow! 00:40:04.83\00:40:06.17 Now, we're going to start chiseling away. 00:40:07.54\00:40:10.84 We looked at the negative side of our condition, 00:40:10.87\00:40:14.74 then we now introduce the only one through whom 00:40:14.98\00:40:17.75 we can find salvation. 00:40:17.78\00:40:19.21 Now we're going to find out what He does. 00:40:19.58\00:40:23.18 We're going to find out what He does. 00:40:23.75\00:40:25.09 Because a lot of times we say, "Well I know He's our Savior, 00:40:25.12\00:40:27.42 He's our Lord." 00:40:27.76\00:40:29.22 You know when you think of those terms, Savior and Lord, 00:40:29.69\00:40:32.16 different functions. 00:40:32.66\00:40:34.03 But let's look at question number seven. 00:40:34.66\00:40:37.43 Are you ready for it? 00:40:38.03\00:40:39.37 Here it is, question number seven. 00:40:39.70\00:40:41.27 What glorious benefit do we receive? 00:40:55.78\00:40:58.32 Acts 10:43, you all turn there. 00:40:58.35\00:41:00.52 Okay, I like to hear those Bibles turning. 00:41:01.16\00:41:03.53 Even though the text... 00:41:03.56\00:41:04.89 The text is primarily for those who are not here. 00:41:04.93\00:41:08.83 But we use our Bibles. 00:41:08.86\00:41:10.20 Here it is, Acts 10:43. 00:41:10.47\00:41:13.00 The Bible says... 00:41:13.03\00:41:14.47 Remember, there is no other name. 00:41:19.11\00:41:20.44 Have you heard the term, "remission," before? 00:41:30.99\00:41:32.59 What is it often connected to in our society? 00:41:32.95\00:41:35.02 Cancer. We say what? 00:41:35.46\00:41:37.06 "Your cancer is in remission." 00:41:38.03\00:41:39.39 Wouldn't it be nice to say, "You know what? 00:41:39.73\00:41:41.66 My sin is in remission." 00:41:41.70\00:41:43.16 Right? 00:41:44.27\00:41:45.60 Wouldn't it be nice to go to the Lord and 00:41:45.63\00:41:47.74 the Lord say, "You know, I've checked. 00:41:47.77\00:41:49.37 You are sin free." 00:41:49.97\00:41:51.81 Amen? 00:41:52.21\00:41:53.54 Because to hear the words, "cancer free," is beautiful. 00:41:53.58\00:41:55.94 When we accept Jesus, He comes in and cleans us up. 00:41:56.14\00:41:59.78 Didn't He say that? 00:42:00.32\00:42:01.65 1 John 1:9, here it is. 00:42:01.68\00:42:03.52 "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just 00:42:03.55\00:42:06.89 to forgive us of our sins and to cleanse us from 00:42:06.92\00:42:10.49 all unrighteousness." 00:42:10.53\00:42:13.23 So what does that mean? 00:42:13.50\00:42:14.83 If you're cleansed from all cancer, you are what? 00:42:15.50\00:42:18.03 Cancer free. 00:42:18.23\00:42:19.57 If you're cleansed from all unrighteousness, you are what? 00:42:19.60\00:42:22.90 It's very important to understand that. 00:42:24.04\00:42:25.87 Now some people will say, "Okay, let me see. 00:42:26.47\00:42:28.04 Is that safe to say, that I'm sin free?" 00:42:28.08\00:42:30.75 That means you have been taken off of death row. 00:42:31.41\00:42:34.12 That means your sins are no longer hanging over you 00:42:34.22\00:42:36.69 as the penalty for death. 00:42:36.72\00:42:39.45 That's what that means. 00:42:39.75\00:42:41.09 It doesn't mean sin has been eradicated. 00:42:41.39\00:42:43.66 It simply means the sin that condemned you 00:42:43.69\00:42:46.13 no longer condemns you. 00:42:46.16\00:42:47.73 But now you move into another phase in your walk with Christ. 00:42:48.83\00:42:52.03 This new phase means, "Okay, I've just been 00:42:52.40\00:42:55.04 taken off of death row. 00:42:55.07\00:42:56.40 I'm no longer in prison. 00:42:56.44\00:42:57.77 I'm no longer in chains. 00:42:57.91\00:42:59.61 I'm no longer incarcerated. 00:42:59.64\00:43:01.44 But now I have been made free, 00:43:02.11\00:43:03.88 which mean I have to now walk free." 00:43:03.91\00:43:06.01 That's why James says, "Stand fast in the liberty." 00:43:06.48\00:43:10.02 The word there, "liberty," means, the freedom. 00:43:10.05\00:43:12.09 You've got to live a life of freedom day by day. 00:43:12.49\00:43:14.39 Freedom from the power of sin. 00:43:14.49\00:43:16.26 And you've heard me say that before. 00:43:16.29\00:43:17.69 Salvation is, in fact, in three phases. 00:43:17.96\00:43:20.46 Salvation from the penalty, salvation from the power, 00:43:20.50\00:43:23.70 and salvation from the... What? 00:43:23.73\00:43:25.13 ...presence. 00:43:25.63\00:43:26.97 When is salvation from the presence of sin going to happen? 00:43:27.37\00:43:30.51 Somebody tell me. 00:43:30.54\00:43:31.87 Say it again. 00:43:33.14\00:43:34.48 The second coming. 00:43:34.51\00:43:35.84 When Jesus returns, He is going to eradicate sin. 00:43:35.88\00:43:39.51 Wouldn't it be good to live in an environment without sin? 00:43:39.55\00:43:41.58 Amen? 00:43:42.38\00:43:43.72 That means you won't even sin in thought. 00:43:44.05\00:43:45.99 That means you won't look across the room and say, 00:43:46.82\00:43:48.49 "I wonder what they're thinking." 00:43:49.62\00:43:50.96 Because they won't be thinking evil thoughts. 00:43:51.36\00:43:54.10 Because their character will have been remade 00:43:54.40\00:43:56.46 in the perfect image of Jesus. 00:43:56.50\00:43:58.47 But the decision to do that is now. 00:43:58.97\00:44:01.80 The decision to walk in that process. 00:44:02.04\00:44:03.97 And as you have seen those shows, Extreme Makeover. 00:44:04.01\00:44:07.98 Every day Jesus is molding us one room at a time. 00:44:08.38\00:44:13.21 Right? 00:44:13.92\00:44:15.25 So if you hear the hammering, if you feel the chiseling, 00:44:15.28\00:44:18.15 submit to it. 00:44:18.52\00:44:19.85 Despise not the chastening of the Father. 00:44:20.19\00:44:22.66 Submit to it. 00:44:22.86\00:44:24.19 I said to somebody yesterday, we are gold tried in the fire. 00:44:24.23\00:44:28.10 Now often we focus on the fire. 00:44:29.03\00:44:31.17 But focus on what you are in the sight of God. 00:44:31.47\00:44:33.84 We are what? 00:44:34.54\00:44:35.87 Come on, say it. We are what? 00:44:36.50\00:44:38.07 Come on, say it. We are what? 00:44:38.57\00:44:40.18 Gold. 00:44:40.21\00:44:41.54 Why are we being tried in the fire? 00:44:41.58\00:44:43.31 Because He wants us to be purified. 00:44:43.48\00:44:45.81 So if you ever see a pure bar of gold... 00:44:46.41\00:44:50.62 I've never seen one. 00:44:50.72\00:44:52.05 I've seen, you know, representations of one, 00:44:52.32\00:44:55.19 but I've never seen a pure bar of gold. 00:44:55.22\00:44:56.86 What makes it pure? 00:44:56.89\00:44:58.23 It's been smelted down. Liquefied. 00:44:58.26\00:45:01.00 And all the impurities have been, what's the word there, 00:45:01.06\00:45:05.27 cleansed away. 00:45:05.57\00:45:06.90 Or scraped off the top. 00:45:06.94\00:45:08.27 And then all that's left is the pure spotless gold. 00:45:08.70\00:45:13.94 So we're going through the spotless process now. 00:45:14.24\00:45:16.41 But one day we will be clear. 00:45:17.05\00:45:18.75 And the remission of sin is the process that begins 00:45:18.78\00:45:22.05 the moment you accept Jesus. 00:45:22.08\00:45:24.29 That's what, "repent," means. 00:45:24.49\00:45:26.25 Repent, means to change direction. 00:45:26.29\00:45:29.02 Remission, means your life is going in the opposite direction. 00:45:29.06\00:45:32.26 Instead of piling up sin, sin is being removed. 00:45:32.29\00:45:36.16 It's a difference all together. 00:45:37.00\00:45:38.33 That is number seven. Was that number seven? 00:45:38.50\00:45:40.44 Okay, so when we receive Jesus, 00:45:40.87\00:45:42.20 what glorious benefit do we receive? 00:45:42.24\00:45:44.21 Write down, remission of sins. 00:45:44.57\00:45:47.31 Which is important. 00:45:48.04\00:45:49.38 Which is vitally important. 00:45:49.61\00:45:51.21 It's a hard thing to say, and this is where the 00:45:54.62\00:45:57.35 practice of Christianity comes in, 00:45:57.39\00:45:58.92 it's a hard thing to say that I'm a Christian, 00:45:58.95\00:46:03.19 but I live my life practicing sin. 00:46:03.22\00:46:05.39 It's a hard thing to say that. 00:46:05.79\00:46:07.23 Because if you see a person that's a racing car driver, 00:46:07.26\00:46:11.07 or a person that's a professional basketball player, 00:46:11.17\00:46:13.70 or a person that claims to be in any particular profession 00:46:13.80\00:46:16.30 or a particular practice, you'll say, "Well then, how come... 00:46:16.34\00:46:19.67 I thought you were a basketball player. 00:46:19.71\00:46:21.54 Why do you have on a doctor's uniform?" 00:46:21.58\00:46:23.31 Why do you look differently than you profess to be? 00:46:23.98\00:46:26.92 The difference between those vocations that are earthly 00:46:27.48\00:46:32.05 and the vocation that's heavenly is, you don't have anybody 00:46:32.45\00:46:35.56 trying to prevent you from being a doctor, 00:46:35.59\00:46:37.43 or trying to prevent you from being a basketball player, 00:46:37.46\00:46:39.83 or trying to prevent you from being whatever other 00:46:39.86\00:46:42.30 occupation there is. 00:46:42.33\00:46:43.73 But you've got to daily battle. 00:46:43.77\00:46:45.93 And that daily battle is against what? 00:46:47.34\00:46:50.01 Okay, say it again. 00:46:51.81\00:46:53.14 Self. That's right. 00:46:53.17\00:46:54.61 The devil doesn't even have to tempt some of us. 00:46:54.71\00:46:57.48 The daily battle, the greatest battle we'll ever 00:46:57.91\00:47:00.32 fight is against who? 00:47:00.35\00:47:01.95 It's against self. 00:47:02.58\00:47:04.02 When self is put to death daily... 00:47:04.85\00:47:07.59 How often did Paul say he had to die to self? 00:47:07.62\00:47:09.92 "I die every day." 00:47:10.26\00:47:12.16 Because self is really stored in the flesh. 00:47:12.19\00:47:15.20 I'm setting up the questions here. 00:47:15.46\00:47:17.40 Self is stored in the flesh. 00:47:17.50\00:47:19.67 We have been regenerated in life, 00:47:20.80\00:47:23.04 but until this flesh is replaced, all the practices 00:47:23.37\00:47:28.11 and things that we remember are stored. 00:47:28.14\00:47:30.58 They call it... 00:47:30.61\00:47:31.95 There's another thing that my throat doctor said. 00:47:31.98\00:47:35.02 He said, "Because you had a throat injury, 00:47:35.08\00:47:36.95 try not to do anything new. 00:47:37.15\00:47:39.32 Because muscles have memory. 00:47:39.65\00:47:42.79 Muscles have... 00:47:43.69\00:47:45.03 So if you start doing something different while you're trying to 00:47:45.06\00:47:47.10 heal, your body is going to remember it and think of it 00:47:47.13\00:47:49.70 as a process that now you must continue to practice. 00:47:49.73\00:47:53.50 And then what happens is, when the injury is there 00:47:54.10\00:47:56.60 it builds up what's called, like a fascia muscle. 00:47:56.64\00:47:59.77 They've got to break up all those things that have 00:47:59.91\00:48:01.64 taken you in the wrong direction, 00:48:01.68\00:48:03.35 the remission process, and get you ready 00:48:03.51\00:48:06.01 for the process that the Lord is extending to you. 00:48:06.21\00:48:08.68 So here's the question. 00:48:08.72\00:48:10.05 Here's the question. Number eight. 00:48:10.32\00:48:12.02 Here's the question. 00:48:12.62\00:48:13.96 When we receive Jesus, to what degree are we saved? 00:48:13.99\00:48:18.13 Question number eight. 00:48:18.16\00:48:19.49 When we receive Jesus... 00:48:19.53\00:48:20.90 Let's look at it together. 00:48:24.90\00:48:26.23 Hebrews 7:25 00:48:26.27\00:48:27.67 One of my favorite passages in the Bible. 00:48:27.87\00:48:30.14 And there are a lot of 7:25's in the Bible. 00:48:30.17\00:48:32.41 Like Daniel 7:25, "...think to change times and laws..." 00:48:32.44\00:48:35.38 Those famous scriptures. 00:48:35.41\00:48:36.75 Here's another one, Hebrews 7:25. 00:48:36.78\00:48:38.75 And I've highlighted a couple of words so that you can 00:48:39.28\00:48:41.38 get the answer very quickly. 00:48:41.42\00:48:42.78 When we receive Jesus, to what degree are we saved? 00:48:43.12\00:48:46.99 Now if you're joining us from home, read this along with us. 00:48:47.02\00:48:50.06 We're going to read this one together. 00:48:50.09\00:48:51.43 Are we ready? 00:48:51.46\00:48:52.79 Because this is a powerful scripture. 00:48:52.83\00:48:54.43 Together. 00:48:54.46\00:48:55.80 Who's able? 00:49:12.71\00:49:14.05 Who's able? 00:49:14.45\00:49:15.78 Who's able? He is. 00:49:16.75\00:49:18.59 To do what? 00:49:18.62\00:49:19.95 Save to the uttermost. 00:49:20.59\00:49:24.03 In other words, He can carry the process all the way through. 00:49:24.16\00:49:28.90 He doesn't just stop at, "Hey, your baptized. 00:49:29.26\00:49:32.30 Welcome. See you later." 00:49:32.40\00:49:34.04 No, it's a day by day commitment to Christ. 00:49:34.07\00:49:36.57 And the devil's part is to reintroduce you to the past, 00:49:36.77\00:49:40.41 where Christ's part is to say, "Let's begin the day in prayer. 00:49:40.81\00:49:44.61 Let's begin the day in studies. 00:49:44.88\00:49:46.68 Let's open our Word. 00:49:46.82\00:49:48.25 Let's put our lives in the hand of the Lord. 00:49:48.65\00:49:50.79 Because I'm able to save you today. 00:49:51.35\00:49:53.66 And I'm able to save you tomorrow. 00:49:53.82\00:49:56.76 And I'm able to save you the next day." 00:49:56.79\00:49:59.29 He's able to save to the uttermost. 00:49:59.69\00:50:01.53 If somebody was drowning, they wouldn't want you to 00:50:02.06\00:50:04.83 save them on the first time they go down 00:50:04.87\00:50:06.37 or the second time they go down. 00:50:06.40\00:50:07.87 They want that Peter experience. 00:50:07.90\00:50:09.70 To be saved from drowning. 00:50:09.74\00:50:12.17 Not to be left in the same condition. 00:50:12.97\00:50:14.94 He's able to save to the uttermost. 00:50:14.98\00:50:16.85 And how does He do that? 00:50:16.88\00:50:18.21 Let me help you understand a particular word. 00:50:18.25\00:50:19.58 "Intercession." This word was included there. 00:50:19.61\00:50:21.72 And somebody watching many not know what intercession is. 00:50:21.75\00:50:24.19 Intercession is a role of the high priest. 00:50:24.65\00:50:26.92 You have the Father, you have the Son, 00:50:27.32\00:50:30.89 you have us. 00:50:31.09\00:50:32.63 Jesus is the bridge. 00:50:33.33\00:50:35.16 With His hand He reaches down to us. 00:50:36.10\00:50:39.67 With the other hand He reaches up to the Father. 00:50:39.70\00:50:42.10 This is an illustration. 00:50:42.14\00:50:43.47 So He brings divinity in connection with humanity. 00:50:43.51\00:50:49.54 And He brings humanity in connection with divinity. 00:50:49.58\00:50:52.78 He's the Intercessor. 00:50:52.81\00:50:54.18 But the Intercessor is more than just bringing 00:50:54.42\00:50:55.98 divinity and humanity together. 00:50:56.02\00:50:57.72 The Intercessor is the one who is in the functioning of the 00:50:57.75\00:51:01.46 role of the High Priest. 00:51:01.49\00:51:03.06 The one who has provided the way of our sins being forgiven; 00:51:03.76\00:51:09.03 the remission. 00:51:09.06\00:51:10.40 He's the Lamb. 00:51:10.43\00:51:11.77 The lamb is included in the ceremonial services. 00:51:11.97\00:51:14.64 So when the lamb is killed, when the blood is shed, 00:51:14.67\00:51:17.51 only then can the sprinkling of the blood 00:51:17.54\00:51:19.67 transfer the sin from the sinner to the tabernacle, 00:51:20.64\00:51:26.01 to the temple, and then later cleansed from the temple. 00:51:27.02\00:51:30.59 So this work of the intercessor is 00:51:31.39\00:51:33.69 when we ask for forgiveness. 00:51:33.72\00:51:35.72 If we ask for forgiveness, will we get it? 00:51:35.82\00:51:38.06 Because He is able to save to the uttermost. 00:51:39.06\00:51:41.63 And how often does He do that? 00:51:41.66\00:51:43.57 He always lives to make intercession. 00:51:43.60\00:51:46.53 He's not just living, but He's living to make intercession. 00:51:46.57\00:51:49.40 Can you imagine the job, can you imagine the function, 00:51:49.80\00:51:53.27 how many billions of people throughout the centuries, 00:51:53.31\00:51:56.68 throughout the millennia, have relied on the blood of Jesus? 00:51:56.71\00:51:59.35 Can you imagine the number? 00:51:59.38\00:52:00.78 How many of them is He able to save? 00:52:01.32\00:52:03.52 Every one of them He is able to save to the uttermost. 00:52:04.52\00:52:08.16 Praise God for that. 00:52:08.19\00:52:09.52 Now let's look at number nine. 00:52:09.66\00:52:11.06 Moving right along tonight at a good pace. 00:52:11.43\00:52:13.90 And I want you to see this. 00:52:14.70\00:52:16.03 These were thought out very carefully 00:52:16.06\00:52:17.83 to put them in a particular order. 00:52:17.87\00:52:19.40 So if you put the answer to number seven... 00:52:19.50\00:52:21.44 When we receive Jesus, to what degree are we saved? 00:52:21.47\00:52:24.64 Put this. To the uttermost. 00:52:24.67\00:52:28.24 Whereas we use to say in New York, 00:52:28.84\00:52:30.18 "From the guttermost to the uttermost." 00:52:30.21\00:52:32.51 From the lowest He saves us and brings us into the image 00:52:32.81\00:52:37.25 of His own righteousness. 00:52:37.62\00:52:39.99 Okay, question number nine. 00:52:40.19\00:52:41.99 Question number nine. 00:52:42.59\00:52:44.03 I had to pause when I was putting this one together. 00:52:51.53\00:52:54.74 Just thank the Lord for this promise that He has made, 00:52:54.94\00:52:58.87 for this promise that He has made. 00:52:59.17\00:53:01.01 Because let me just put it this way. 00:53:01.04\00:53:02.64 If a person is delivered, 00:53:02.68\00:53:04.15 if a person is delivered from a situation, 00:53:04.31\00:53:06.95 you might say to them, "Try to stay out of trouble." 00:53:08.72\00:53:11.59 Have you ever heard that before? 00:53:11.62\00:53:12.95 "Try to stay out of trouble." 00:53:13.09\00:53:14.89 "Well if I don't, I'll call you the next time 00:53:16.52\00:53:17.86 I get into trouble." 00:53:17.89\00:53:19.23 This passage takes it to the next level. 00:53:20.10\00:53:22.40 Because the question is, to those who receive Jesus 00:53:22.73\00:53:25.00 what promise has He made? 00:53:25.03\00:53:26.57 2 Timothy 4:18 00:53:26.60\00:53:28.57 Look at that with me. 00:53:28.97\00:53:30.31 2 Timothy 4:18 00:53:30.34\00:53:32.67 He's made a promise, not just to save you to the uttermost. 00:53:32.71\00:53:35.31 Because salvation is not the only thing we need. 00:53:35.78\00:53:38.21 Alright, here it is. 00:53:39.05\00:53:40.72 Here's a new scripture for you. 00:53:41.45\00:53:42.78 See, this is one of those, "amen," scriptures. 00:54:05.94\00:54:07.71 He's not just able to deliver me, but to what? 00:54:07.74\00:54:10.85 Preserve me. 00:54:11.05\00:54:12.38 That's why Jude 24 says, "Now to Him who is able to 00:54:13.82\00:54:17.99 keep us from..." What? 00:54:18.02\00:54:19.35 "...falling, and to present us before the presence 00:54:19.39\00:54:22.69 of His glory with exceeding joy." 00:54:22.79\00:54:25.99 He's not able just to deliver me. 00:54:26.56\00:54:28.33 I don't just want to be delivered, 00:54:28.36\00:54:29.86 I want to be preserved. 00:54:29.90\00:54:31.47 The word, "preserved," means, kept. 00:54:32.27\00:54:34.40 In other words, He builds around you a fortress. 00:54:35.60\00:54:38.57 By the way, for those who don't know, 00:54:38.61\00:54:40.31 the Bible talks about this in the Old Testament, 00:54:40.34\00:54:42.38 as the wall that the Lord built around Israel, 00:54:42.41\00:54:44.88 as a fence He built around Israel. 00:54:45.41\00:54:47.15 And the fence He built around them was His Ten Commandments. 00:54:47.25\00:54:49.95 So it's impossible to say, "I'm saved," and ignore 00:54:50.12\00:54:52.52 the commandments of God. 00:54:52.55\00:54:53.89 The commandments of God are there to continue to guide us 00:54:54.16\00:54:56.39 in our relationship one with another 00:54:56.76\00:54:58.93 and our relationship between us and the Lord. 00:54:59.09\00:55:00.96 The commandments are the fencing that surrounds us. 00:55:01.00\00:55:03.50 But He's not only able to deliver us, 00:55:03.97\00:55:06.30 but He's able to preserve us. 00:55:06.33\00:55:08.24 And He delivers us from every evil work. 00:55:08.90\00:55:12.61 Praise His name for that. 00:55:12.81\00:55:14.14 So did you write that down? 00:55:14.18\00:55:15.51 To those that receive Jesus, what promise has He made? 00:55:16.28\00:55:18.75 Deliver and preserve. Write those two down. 00:55:18.85\00:55:21.75 Deliver, and what else? Preserve. 00:55:21.78\00:55:24.49 And for those of you that like to can foods, 00:55:24.85\00:55:27.29 You know what that preserve means. 00:55:27.82\00:55:29.59 Keep it fresh for a long time. 00:55:30.36\00:55:33.13 Some people need that in their Christian experience. 00:55:33.43\00:55:35.33 Because there's nothing worse than a 00:55:35.36\00:55:36.70 stale Christian experience. 00:55:36.73\00:55:38.90 It's not preserved. 00:55:39.27\00:55:40.60 That day by day walk with Christ will bring us 00:55:40.64\00:55:42.67 to the point of preservation. 00:55:42.70\00:55:45.07 Okay. 00:55:45.47\00:55:46.81 Now, this is a transitioning stage. 00:55:47.54\00:55:50.98 I don't know how far I'll get on this. 00:55:51.01\00:55:52.35 But now that we know... 00:55:52.48\00:55:53.82 Let's look at the two stages so far. 00:55:53.85\00:55:56.05 First we talked about our condition. 00:55:56.08\00:55:57.75 Did we not? Amen? 00:55:57.79\00:55:59.12 Then we talked about who Jesus is and what He does. 00:55:59.39\00:56:02.52 Right? 00:56:02.82\00:56:04.16 Now we're going to go to the next actual phase 00:56:04.19\00:56:07.33 and look at what He had to do, I want you to follow carefully, 00:56:07.60\00:56:15.20 what He had to do to save us. 00:56:15.24\00:56:18.07 Because somebody asked me the question once, 00:56:18.57\00:56:20.74 listen, listen, somebody said, "If Jesus, if His work is 00:56:21.21\00:56:24.85 just to save us, could not He have done that from heaven? 00:56:24.88\00:56:29.02 Did He have to come down here to save us?" 00:56:29.45\00:56:31.52 Couldn't He have just said, "You're saved. 00:56:31.79\00:56:35.26 I ain't coming down there." 00:56:35.72\00:56:37.29 Why did He have to come down here to be our Savior? 00:56:40.86\00:56:44.20 We're going to find this out in the next question. 00:56:46.10\00:56:48.57 Or maybe, or maybe I should hold off till next week. 00:56:50.07\00:56:53.74 Let's give one text at least. 00:56:53.84\00:56:55.84 Here it is. Are you ready? 00:56:56.38\00:56:57.71 Question number ten. 00:56:58.51\00:56:59.85 In the interest of time, I'm going to 00:57:05.75\00:57:07.26 give it to you very quickly. 00:57:07.29\00:57:08.62 Hebrews 10:5 Hebrews 10:5 00:57:09.16\00:57:12.43 Look at it. 00:57:12.69\00:57:14.03 We're going to talk about that body and why it was necessary 00:57:26.57\00:57:31.91 for Jesus to come to this earth to qualify as our Savior. 00:57:32.41\00:57:37.52 Is He God? Yes or no. 00:57:37.92\00:57:39.35 Amen? 00:57:40.19\00:57:41.52 But He had to become our Savior. 00:57:41.56\00:57:43.53 He could not, and this is my exit statement, 00:57:44.49\00:57:48.23 He could not have saved us from a distance. 00:57:48.26\00:57:51.70 He had to come down here to be our Savior. 00:57:52.07\00:57:55.10 Keep studying the Bible. 00:57:55.50\00:57:56.87 And if we've made some sense tonight, praise the Lord. 00:57:57.11\00:57:59.07 But if not, one day we know it will come into a sharper focus. 00:57:59.11\00:58:03.68 God bless you. 00:58:03.71\00:58:05.05
